been recently coming up with this sally face au where the cult is still there, except like in real life, what they believe in is bullshit. there's no magic, because magic isn't real, they're just batshit, and the main focus of the story involves the sally gang + travis taking them down with the help of the FBI or something for all those murders.

jim johnson went into witness protection after witnessing the murders of greg, stacy and megan, which is why he isn't there. sandy was murdered by charley after stealing the book from the cult years later when sal moved in. rosenberg is the only survivor of that group that tried to take the cult down and has since lost hope of ever taking them down. terrance addison's entire family was murdered by the cult, and he's become severely agoraphobic as a result.

the ghosts are real, but they can't do much except tell their stories in the hopes that they'll be able to eventually move on. they tell their stories to the sally gang, who work on trying to piece together a timeline of events + evidence to send off and take the cult down.

when travis turns 18 and his father starts really indoctrinating him, he talks with the sally gang and agrees to help them take the cult down by joining and being their inside man, and they keep evidence of the cult's deeds in the secure shed-thing in the backyard of the college house.

when the cult gets taken down, jim johnson is able to come back and explain why he left, and travis and madeline testify against their father in court, betraying their sister mary, and throwing a number of prominent nockfellians into jail.

i like to keep travis as a middle child, so i'm imagining that when this is all done, he ends up having to take care of madeline through the rest of her high school days while they're living on their own now, getting insane amounts of therapy/exit counseling.

i don't know if i have the energy to write an entire fic for this but i'd really like to explore the idea, especially if other people are interested/willing to engage.

Decided to share my Cramp Twins Next Gen AU :D

This Is Lake! She is Luciens' daughter and oldest child. Around the age of 8, her parents got divorced, and Lucien gained full custody of Lake and her two younger brothers. She loves the Swamp and all the animals that live in it.

Here Is Lucien In this AU! In the AU, Lucien is an 8th grade science teacher. His divorced wife is some random woman he met during college. After he got divorced, he and his kids moved in with his good friend Tony Parsons. The two later started dating and got married soon after.

Here is Tony in this AU! He mainly stays home and takes care of the swamp. He and Lake are very close. The two spend a lot of time in the swamp together. He is the main reason why Lake loves the swamp so much.

These are Lakes younger brothers! Their names are Troy and Timothy. Troy annoys Lake a lot, and the two don't really get a long well. While Timothy admires Lake and looks up to her a lot. Troy is 11, while Timothy is 6.

Our story begins when Lake is 14 and entering 8th grade. This means that Lucien will be her science teacher, and Lake finds that to be the most embarrassing thing in the whole world. Each student in the science class is assigned a lab partner. Lakes lab partner is a girl named Willow.

Willow is a 14 year old goth girl who loves poetry and ravens. After bonding with each other during lunch, they soon become close friends. This Causes them to want to start hanging out at each other's houses. However, what Lake doesn't know is that Willow is actually her cousin. And that Willow is the daughter of Wayne Cramp, her uncle and her father's distant brother.

[Note: I haven't figured out who Willows mom is yet. I think her mom would be present in Willows' life and live with Willow and Wayne. Conflicted with making Willows mom either a random woman or Joanne]

Other Characters:

Molly - She's Mari's daughter and Lakes' best friend since kindergarten. I'd say that she's pretty optimistic. She's 13 years old.

Kimberly and Kendall - Wendy's daughters. I'd imagine that Wendy would take over Hazchem after her father retires. Kimberly and Kendalls father is probably some random guy. Kimberly is 14, while Kendall is 10.

This is what I have so far :D. I haven't made all of the adult designs yet, but I'll post them when I finish them.

I think Percy Phelps and Mary Sutherland are some of my favorite clients bc they hit a very similar characterisation note that I like, which is Dumb Of Ass + slightly annoying/flawed in an histrionic way but however EXTREMELY proactive, it gives such an unique charming flavor to the case that really works for me in distinguishing them in a comparatively homogenous mass of clients

Letters From Watson Liveblog - May 3

The Naval Treaty, Part 1 of 4

There's some build up here for The Second Stain, and at first it doesn't seem to correlate with the story we read. Apparently, it was published 11 years after The Naval Treaty, so there's your Doylist explanation (literally) for any discrepancies.

However, looking closer, it's not that far off. The Second Stain was published in 1904, so it did come after the "new century," and it was indeed a very important case for the British government that involved an unknown "foreign potentate" that has been theorized to be Kaiser Wilhelm II, so close enough.

No mention of Monsieur Dubugue (Dubuque?) or Fritz von Waldbaum though, but that doesn't necessarily mean they don't exist. The case did involve an investigation in Paris, so perhaps the interview Holmes had with them occurred after the case was over, in which case they wouldn't be involved in the actual story.

Aw, poor Percy Phelps. So Watson was a bit of a playground bully, or at the very least participated in some widespread teasing and harassment.

I wonder how he got that nickname. Was it as simple as him looking at a tadpole one day, so everyone started picking on him for it as kids do, or did he get really invested in frogs and tadpoles for a time, as kids do.

Mary appearance! In every story where she appears for just one line, I like to imagine an alternate universe where Mary is a chronicler and it's Watson who gets referred to as "my husband" all the time.

It's stuff like this that probably occupies most of Holmes' time, the "boring" crime solving that Watson doesn't really write about. The chemical works, sending telegrams, even the consulting he does for other investigators, all in the background of the more exciting adventures he goes on.

Damn, Holmes just got got by Joseph Harrison. I like this guy already.

You know, Watson has written some descriptions for people ranging from slightly mean to outright insulting, and I just wonder how those people react when they read back these stories. How would Ms. Harrison feel, knowing that thousands of people have read this and will think of her in their minds as "a little short and thick for symmetry?" I'd love to see someone write out the fictional mail sent to The Strand Magazine by those Watson has described.

The trail starts at the bottom of Kyle Canyon, which at this point is deep, heavily forested, and surrounded by beautiful gray limestone cliffs. In the first 0.7 miles, the trail climbs 450 feet, then turns right into a side canyon and climbs another 650 feet to the falls in the remaining 0.9 miles.
