"Hi, Gabriella! I heard your voice and had to come sprinting down to see you in a toga!" "Oh! Don't, don't I get to see you in a toga, too?" Yes, she's hooked! Look at that face - she's glorious! "Hang on just a sec."
Les considers pressing matters, but the term paper's not done and she made herself a promise.
"Mary Ann says we're not supposed to put meat scraps on the compost because it'll draw rats, but won't it draw them to the inside trash, too? I'd rather have rats on the compost heap than in the house."
"Dang! I'll get you at the next turn, you watch." "You wish!"
Janis goes for conversing with Ivan's big brother Sean. Who is kind of hot, actually.
Sharla's party is going excellently, and Sean is assisting in her quest for new pledges.
"So, what do you think? You willing to pledge?" "Well. If y'all really want me -" "Of course we do!"
Isaiah retreats to the study room, and Mary Ann follows him discreetly. Nothing happens…unless you count connecting, soul to soul!
Afterward, Sharla is restless, and takes herself out to the Swim Center to swim it out. Where exactly will they be putting Ada, is the question? It's not fair the frat has so many more bedrooms!

the divine hero-husband: on Romance Novel Jesus & submitting to your husband as to the Lord, Pavlov-style
from God’s Daughters: Evangelical Women and the Power of Submission by R. Marie Griffith (1997)
excerpt 1:
Another metaphor Aglow women utilize to describe their relationship with God is that of a divine lover or husband, also an image with a long history in the Christian tradition, which resonates in contemporary descriptions of becoming the “chosen bride” of Jesus. Several Aglow writers have fruitfully utilized a passage from the book of Isaiah: “For your Maker is your husband—the Lord Almighty is his name.”
Jo Anne, a single mother of two, appeals to her readers’ desires for a perfect husband when she writes, “How would you like to be married to a husband who is always faithful, ever concerned for your welfare, who wants only the best for you and who will love you no matter what you do?” Quoting the verse from Isaiah, she responds to her own question: “Surprise! The Bible says we’ve already got exactly that kind of husband. The God of the Universe my Husband! What a mind-blowing idea.” Recounting various stories of learning gratefully to accept this notion and to submit to God as her husband, Jo Anne offers other unmarried women the “opportunity” to “take [God] seriously” and to “receive him as the perfect husband.”
excerpt 2:
Whether his spiritual “wives” are widowed or divorced, married or remarried, God acts as their perfect husband, wisely guiding and protecting them in a perfectly ordered “love relationship.”
Like the more traditional notion of God as Father, the theme of God as perfect husband echoes throughout evangelical literature. In her 1976 book, The Gift of Inner Healing, well-known evangelist Ruth Carter Stapleton urges a young woman whose marriage to Nick has been “miserable” to let Jesus’ affection heal her and her marriage:
“Try to spend a little time each day visualizing Jesus coming in the door from work. Then see yourself walking up to him, embracing him. Say to Jesus, ‘It’s good to have you home, Nick.’ If you do this each day, you will condition yourself to respond to Nick as you would respond to Jesus.”
According to Stapleton’s story, the wisdom of this strategy was confirmed when Nick showed up to thank her about a year later, telling Stapleton that he and his wife have “a whole new relationship.” Imagining Jesus as a husband, and one’s husband as Jesus, has the power to refresh and animate even the most broken marriages.
Characterizations of God as perfect husband closely resemble the heroes of contemporary romance novels analyzed by Janice Radway, a literary scholar who interviewed dozens of women who regularly read this literature. “Strong and masculine” yet “equally capable of unusual tenderness, gentleness, and concern for [the heroine’s] pleasure,” the ideal hero for the romance readers questioned by Radway is one who recognizes “deep feelings” of love for the heroine and who realizes that “he could not live without her.”
Like Radway’s readers, who want their hero to be both protector of the heroine and dependent on her love, Aglow women desire their divine hero-husband both to lead and look after them and to be nurtured by their mutually gratifying relationship. Following God’s commands, doing everything he asks of them and more, flattering him continually by “just telling Him how wonderful He is and how much we love Him,” Aglow women fulfill their visions of perfect love relationships, satisfying needs for affection, protection, and self-esteem through a perceived marital relationship with God.
Whether they experience him as husband or as father, Aglow women view God as the ideal man, one who makes them feel respected and valued as women and who will not abuse or take advantage of them the way earthly men may. The complexities of this ideal of masculinity, and its intended contrast to earthly models, are suggested by the following interpretation of intimacy with God, from a book published by Aglow […]
excerpt 3:
The stories of Mary and Donna, like that of Dorothy, assure their readers that good results will follow a wife’s willing acquiescence: once women’s attitudes are transformed and they accept their submissive role, their husbands also become happier and more benevolent, reflecting the benevolence of God. Such stories show how personal power may be encoded in the doctrine of submission, as the women center their narratives on their own capacity to initiate personal healing and cultivate domestic harmony.
While not viewed as essential to the woman’s healing, changes in a husband’s behavior furnish added confirmation that such healing has taken place. For instance, the fact that Dorothy’s husband actually wept when she told him of her illness is highly significant to her story. Rather than slapping her in the face, as she says he had “every right” to do, Elmer embraced her lovingly and expressed his concern that she be healed. Likewise, Mary’s husband, Cal, responded to her newfound submission with love and appreciation, and Donna’s husband, Doug, was transformed even as she was. Such changes, these writers assert, occurred in large part as the result of the decisive actions of the wives.
These narratives are meant to convince Aglow readers of the sincerity of the husbands’ love for their wives and the assurance of their manly protection; as Dorothy writes of Elmer, he “showed me his real strength the night he forgave me.” Such husbands represent the ideal Christian man, upholding the image of a loving Father God: strong yet gentle, a dynamic leader who is unafraid to express tender feeling, stern and rugged in his righteousness yet willing to forgive and to respond in benevolence.
Dorothy, Mary, and Donna submit to their husbands’ authority, which, like that ofJesus, is depicted as compassionate and wise, never dominating or cruelly oppressive. Submit to your husband, the authors instruct their readers, and you too will discover the man you’ve always longed for, his seeming harshness softened by your willing obedience to his demands.

I might be making some Disney twisted wonderland incorrect quotes or scenes where MC/Yuu is married to one of the characters and has kids. And this post is going to be about the kids name and who are the parents and how many kids. So kinda like an OCS and head cannons. PT one
MC/Yuu x Ace Trappola- one or two kids if it two kids the oldest would be a girl named Anna May Trappola and the youngest would be a boy name Ethan Ace Trappola. If it's one a boy.
MC/Yuu × Deuce Spade- two kids one boy and one girl. The boy would be the oldest and be named Daniel Gabriel Spade, the girl would be the youngest and be named Gabriella Lynn Spade.
MC/Yuu × Cater Diamond- two kids both girls named Caroline Ann Diamond and Casey Marie Diamond. Caroline is the oldest and Casey is the youngest.
MC/Yuu × Trey Clover- three or two kids. If it's two kids both boys the oldest being named Travis Trey Clover and the youngest being named Nicholas Daniel Clover. If it's three two girls and one boy. The oldest is a girl and is named Taylor Raylynn Clover and the middle will be the boy and be named Travis Trey Clover and the other girl will be the youngest and would be named Kaylee Marie Clover.

thinking about…ethel’s future in her survival verse. i’ll likely write it out properly when i have the time but some of the major points are:
after her escape, she drags herself to the nearest police station where she reports the incident with isaiah.
she is taken to the hospital where her wounds are tended to and her mother is contacted back home in alabama.
ethel and mary-anne share a long, tearful phone call before mary-anne flies out to reunite with her daughter. ethel tells her mother everything, from her father’s abuse, to logan, to her journey with isaiah. she keeps her religious struggles to herself for the time being for fear of driving away the one person she has left in her life.
upon returning home to shady grove, ethel — the preacher missing no more — is welcomed back with open arms from her community. she suffers from immense ptsd, depression, and drug withdrawal, all while trying to fit herself back into life the way it was before she left. but she’s not that person anymore. she hasn’t been for a long time.
eventually she does step down from preaching with the help of therapy. her mother, while a little disappointed, is understanding and supportive of ethel’s decision.
she speaks out against sa and meets with other survivors, and years down the line writes and publishes a book/memoir.

Les has to get up and stretch. All she needs to do is the bibliography and format the footnotes - but that's always the hardest part.
"Oh, dear. This isn't how I'd hoped my first attempt to fry chicken would come out."
"Isaiah! Hi! Thanks for coming over in this weather!"
"You didn't say there was a party. I'd have worn a toga." "I forgot Sharla was throwing one."
Mary Ann's heart swells with moral certainty. Isaiah is the One! Now, to convince him of that.

26th July >> Fr. Martin's Gospel Reflections / Homilies on
Matthew 13:1-9 for Wednesday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
And On
Matthew 13:16-17 for the Memorial of Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, Parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Wednesday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Gospel (Except USA) Matthew 13:1-9 A sower went out to sow.
Jesus left the house and sat by the lakeside, but such large crowds gathered round him that he got into a boat and sat there. The people all stood on the beach, and he told them many things in parables. He said, ‘Imagine a sower going out to sow. As he sowed, some seeds fell on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate them up. Others fell on patches of rock where they found little soil and sprang up straight away, because there was no depth of earth; but as soon as the sun came up they were scorched and, not having any roots, they withered away. Others fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Others fell on rich soil and produced their crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Listen, anyone who has ears!’
Gospel (USA) Matthew 13:1-9 The seed produced grain a hundredfold.
On that day, Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat down, and the whole crowd stood along the shore. And he spoke to them at length in parables, saying: “A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell on the path, and birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, where it had little soil. It sprang up at once because the soil was not deep, and when the sun rose it was scorched, and it withered for lack of roots. Some seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it. But some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit, a hundred or sixty or thirtyfold. Whoever has ears ought to hear.”
Reflections (5)
(i) Wednesday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
In the Galilee of Jesus’ day, the farmer sowed the seed in a fairly casual fashion. He threw it on all sorts of ground in the hope that at least some seed would fall on good soil. Some of it was likely to fall in places where it could not germinate, such as on paths, on rocks or among thorns. Yet, the yield that came from the seed that fell on good soil was likely to compensate for the loss of seed on soil that was not suitable. Jesus recognized something of his own ministry in the way the farmer sowed his seed. He preached the good news of the kingdom of God liberally, without discrimination. All sorts would get to hear this good news, and see it in action in the ministry of Jesus, from the religiously orthodox to those considered sinners, from those who were well-to-do to those who had just about enough to live on. Much of Jesus’ preaching and ministry met with resistance and the seed of the kingdom of God did not take root in people’s hearts. However, others responded generously to the preaching and activity of Jesus. The seed of the kingdom took root in their hearts and was bearing rich fruit. This is the group whom Jesus had just spoken of as his brothers, sisters and mother. Very often, it was not ‘the wise and the intelligent’ who belonged to this group but ‘infants’, those judged to be weak and unimpressive in the eyes of the world. Jesus was reassuring his disciples by means of this parable that in spite of many setbacks, God’ work of ushering in the kingdom of God through Jesus was coming to pass. When it comes to the spread of the gospel, we are called to be people of hopeful faith. The response to the gospel can seem to be limited and unpromising. Yet, if we continue to proclaim the word, to sow the seed, by our words and deeds, the Lord will see to it that it will bear fruit in the hearts of some, very often in ways that will amaze us. As the God of Israel says, speaking through the prophet Isaiah, ‘my word that goes out from my mouth… shall not return to me empty, but it will accomplish that for which I purpose’.

(ii) Wednesday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
We are used to hearing this parable of the sower with its application which follows in the gospels, whereby the various types of soil are identified with various types of people. The parable on its own seems more open ended. It teases us into thought. What might Jesus be saying here? Jesus’ original hearers would have been familiar with the scene his parable paints. The farmers tended to sow their seed liberally. Much of it landed in unpromising places and was wasted. Some of the seed, however, landed in good soil and that was often enough to produce a harvest, which ensured sowing for the following year. Because the land was ultimately God’s gift, any harvest was also recognized as God’s work and gift. The parable acknowledges the hardships that any sower has to contend with, the hungry birds of the air, the presence of rock near the surface, the bushes and thorns that grew willy-nilly. Yet, it also celebrates the abundance in the midst of such hardships that can come from the hand of God. Every human life has its own hardships. So much of our good effort can seem wasted. The forces working against us can threaten to grind us down and undermine our resolve. Yet, Jesus is assuring us, that there is more to life than our hardships and obstacles. The Lord of life is always at work even in the midst of the most unpromising of situations. If we wait in joyful hope, we will not ultimately be disappointed.
And/Or
(iii) Wednesday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
When Jesus saw the farmer going out to sow seeds, it reminded him of the way God was at work in his ministry. Jesus noticed that the farmer scattered the seed with abandon, almost recklessly, not knowing what kind of soil it would fall on. Inevitably, a great deal of the seed that was scattered was lost; it never germinated. Yet, some of the seed fell on good soil and produced an extraordinary harvest. In what way would this scene have spoken to Jesus about his ministry? God was scattering the seed of his life-giving word through Jesus’ ministry. Through Jesus, God wanted to touch the lives of everyone, regardless of how they were perceived by others or even by themselves. God gave the most unlikely places the opportunity of receiving the life-giving seed of his word. There was nothing selective about Jesus’ company. Jesus once spoke of God as making his sun to rise on the evil and on the good. This was the God that Jesus revealed in his own ministry. As with the farmer in the parable, much of what Jesus scattered was lost; it met with little or no response. Indeed, his gracious word often met with hostility. Yet, Jesus knew that some people were receiving the seed of his word, and that would be enough to bring about the harvest of God’s kingdom. Jesus may have been speaking a word of encouragement to his disciples, saying to them, ‘Despite all the setbacks, the opposition and hostility, God is at work and that work will lead to something wonderful’. In other words, ‘the seed is good and powerful. Whatever the odds against us, we must keep sowing’.

(iv) Wednesday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Jesus noticed that the farmer scattered the seed with abandon, almost recklessly, not knowing what kind of soil it would fall on. Inevitably, a great deal of the seed that was scattered was lost; it never germinated. Yet, some of the seed fell on good soil and produced an extraordinary harvest. God was scattering the seed of his life-giving word through Jesus’ ministry. God’s favour was being scattered abroad in an almost reckless manner. Through Jesus, God wanted to touch the lives of everyone, regardless of how they were perceived by others or by themselves. God gave the most unlikely places the opportunity of receiving the life-giving seed of his word. There was nothing selective about Jesus’ ministry. As with the farmer in the parable, much of what Jesus scattered was lost. Yet, Jesus knew that some people were receiving his word, and that would be enough to bring about the harvest of God’s kingdom. In speaking this parable, Jesus may have been encouraging his disciples, saying to them, ‘Despite all the setbacks, God is working to bring about something wonderful’. We are as much in need of Jesus’ encouraging word today as the disciples were. We can be very aware of the obstacles to the growth of the gospel in our world, in our church, and, in our own lives. Yet, the parable assures us that these obstacles will not ultimately deter God’s desire to fill our lives and our world with his bountiful presence. God is willing to be reckless and wasteful in our regard with his gracious favour because he knows that there is good soil there somewhere.
And/Or
(v) Wednesday, Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time
There is a lot of failure in the parable of today’s gospel reading. Much of the farmer’s work seems wasted. Much of the good seed that he generously scattered fell on unpromising soil and came to nothing. Yet, at the end of the day, enough seed fell on good soil for the harvest to be bountiful. Jesus is suggesting that the experience of failure is never the end of the road. Jesus’ public ministry, during which he liberally scattered the seed of God’s loving reign, met with a great deal of failure. Indeed, Jesus’ crucifixion was the ultimate expression of failure. Yet, Jesus was not discouraged by his experience of failure. He continued to do God’s work, confident that God would ensure that, in the end, the harvest would be plentiful, for Jesus and for all who believe in him. Some of the seed Jesus scattered fell on good soil; his presence and ministry met with a generous, even if flawed, response on the part of some. They would become the nucleus of a new community beyond his death. God even worked powerfully through the ultimate failure of crucifixion, raising his Son from the dead and pouring out the Spirit of his risen Son on all who believe in the gospel preached by the disciples. The harvest turned out to be great, even if the labourers, at times, were few. The parable is a statement of hope, of confidence in the power of God to work in the midst of failure. It encourages us to live with our own experiences of failure, trusting that our failure need never be the end of the road for us, but that God can work powerfully in and through us, in spite of failure.

Memorial of Saint Joachim and Saint Anne, Parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Gospel (Except USA) Matthew 13:16-17 Prophets and holy men longed to hear what you hear.
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Happy are your eyes because they see, your ears because they hear! I tell you solemnly, many prophets and holy men longed to see what you see, and never saw it; to hear what you hear, and never heard it.’
Gospel (USA) Matthew 13:16-17 Many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see.
Jesus said to his disciples: “Blessed are your eyes, because they see, and your ears, because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”
Reflections (2)
(i) Memorial of Saint Joachim and Anne
These are the names traditionally given to the mother and faith of the Blessed Virgin Mary by a tradition that dates back to the second century. One of the early fathers of the church addressed Joachim and Anne in the following way: ‘O blessed couple. All creation is in your debt, for through you is presented the noblest of gifts to the creator, namely a spotless mother who alone was worthy for the creator’. It was because of Joachim and Anne’s own faith that Mary was able to make her great response of faith to God’s call to her through the angel Gabriel. The parents of Mary were the grandparents of Jesus. They helped to create that environment of faith in which he would grow in wisdom and in stature before others and God. Today’s feast encourages us to remember the people of faith who went before us, from whom we have descended. We might remember our own grandparents and the faith by which they lived and which helped to light the flame of faith in our own lives. In the gospel reading, Jesus proclaims blessed the eyes that see and the ears that hear. He is referring there to the eyes and ears of faith, all those among his own contemporaries who recognized God’s powerful presence in his own ministry. Jesus declares that many of the prophets and holy people of the past longed to see and hear what his contemporaries had the privilege of seeing and hearing. We share in that same privilege. We give thanks for all we have been allowed to see and hear of God’s presence in Jesus and for all those people of faith who preceded us and have made it possible for us to see and hear with the eyes and ears of faith.
And/Or
(ii) Memorial of Saints Joachim and Anne
Joachim and Anne are the names traditionally given to the mother and father of Our Lady since the second century. Today’s feast encourages us to remember the people of faith who supported us on our own faith journey. We might remember especially our own grandparents and the faith by which they lived and which helped to light the flame of faith in our own lives. In today’s gospel reading, Jesus makes reference to all the forces that can prevent the seed of faith from growing to its full potential. There is the presence of the evil one, the great tempter. There are our own personal weaknesses, our tendency to turn from the Lord when trials come, our capacity to allow the worries and the pleasures of life to undermine our faith. Yet, Paul reminds us in his letter to the Romans that nothing need come between us the love of God. The Lord works to overcome those forces that separate us from him and he does so above all through other people of faith, through the community of faith. We call that community of faith the church. Within the church, there are smaller communities of faith that help to nurture the seed of faith in our own lives. Jesus’ parents and grandparents were such a small community of faith in his life. We are all called in our own way to help form such small communities of faith, and in that way to help each other to grow towards the Lord. In this regard, Joachim and Anne can be our inspiration.
Fr. Martin Hogan.
