Hey. You know what BTTF line I've never really thought about until just a little while ago? The one from part II when Marty tells Doc about Junior showing up at the Cafe 80s and then Doc replies with
"The sleep inducer. I was afraid of this. Because I used it on Jennifer, there wasn't enough power left to knock your son out for the full hour."
I guess it's because the attention immediately pivots to the changing newspaper, then Jennifer, so there isn't time to linger on it but like. Let's talk about Marty Junior. Doc knocks him unconscious with the alpha rhythm generator in an alley somewhere. One moment, Junior's happily walking down the street, and then he's out cold. He wakes up a handful of minutes later, having NO CLUE what's just happened and decides to just stumble his way into the cafe for a Pepsi—after being KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS by a mysterious stranger. He's then confronted by Griff's gang, is tossed over a counter (where he falls unconscious again) and wakes up a little later on to discover the bullies that had been tormenting him are inexplicably gone, and he has no memory of whatever unfolded in the cafe. He proceeds to run outside and is almost immediately hit by a car.
Now, what I want to know is: Is this the strangest day of Marty McFly Junior's life or just another average page in the book for him?

What Your Favorite Michael J. Fox Character Says About You
(No hate intended, I love all of these characters. I'm just having a little fun based off of this video that I found.)
Marty McFly - You're choosing the safest option. Maybe a little bit overrated, but it's still a good one.
Jamie Conway - Is this one your favorite because it's good, or are you just really horny?
Alex P. Keaton - ALRIGHT! WE GET IT! YOU LIKE THIS ONE!
Milo Thatch - This may not be everyone's favorite, but it's yours, and you're totally chill with that.
Mike Flaherty - You're into the Classics.
Seamus McFly - You're old.
Danny McTeague - You're really old. Your social security number is 2.
Brantley Foster - You are one pretentious hipster.
Stuart Little - Officer, it's this one! Right here!
Joe Rasnick - Oh, you're cool. I like you.
Maxwell Eriksson - No way! You actually know that one? Can we be friends?
Scott Howard - This one's just a phase; you'll grow out of it when you grow up.
Marty McFly Jr. - You will never grow up.
Mikey Chapman - Oh, you picked this one to be different. How clever.
Mike Henry - If you chose this one, you are a liar. This is no one's favorite.
Frank Bannister - If you chose this one, you are correct. This is the best one.

MCFLY JULY ‘24 — “don’t need money, don’t take fame.”
APRIL 28, 2011
“Dad?”
Marty is never, ever gonna get tired of hearing that. He immediately stops, setting his pen down and the freshly signed CDs aside and giving his full attention to Emmett, who is hanging around the doorway like he still isn’t sure, after almost thirteen years, if he’s allowed to come in.
“Hey, kiddo,” Marty greets warmly, his son flashing him a small smile. “What’s goin’ on?”
Emmett looks around before stepping inside, and Marty is reminded of when Ellie, after input from Jules and Verne, assigned everyone animals when she was nine. Uncle Doc’s a mantis shrimp, she’d proclaimed, Auntie Clara’s a bear, Dad’s a whale, Mom’s a raven, and Emmett’s a pangolin! While he’s not sure about the rest of her picks, her choice for her brother… Yeah, at times like this he can see the resemblance.
“Dad…” he tries again. “Dad, did we ruin your life?”
Marty’s kind of glad his abject, heart shattering horror at that statement coming from his son outweighs his impulse to laugh in disbelief at a statement that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“Of course not,” he reassures, opening his arms just in case his boy didn’t feel like he was too big for a hug. His son folds himself into him, burying his head in his shoulder. “The day you and Ellie were born,” Marty tells him, rubbing his back, “was pretty much the best day of my life.”
“…Even though Mom almost broke your hand?” Emmett asks, voice muffled, and Marty laughs.
“Yeah, even then. Y’know, if I could go back,” which he could, but his boy didn’t need to know that right yet, “I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Emmett starts to pull away and Marty lets him go, but still holds him at arm’s length.
“Now,” father asks son, “where’s all this coming from, huh? You’re not hanging around that Tannen kid again, are you?”
Emmett’s face twists in disgust.
“No, Dad, are you nuts? That whole family’s crazy.”
“Attaboy,” Marty says proudly.
“...I found some of your old concert videos on YouTube,” Emmett finally admits. “And Dad… you look like you’re havin’ the time of your life. How come you gave it all up? It was because of us, wasn’t it?” His brown eyes are big and watery and Marty squeezes his shoulders.
“Aw, Em,” Marty sighs. “I had a blast on tour, you’re right. Hangin’ out with the guys, getting to see the world… It was a lot of fun for a while, but when it stopped being fun, we quit. And I have a blast here, too, with you and your sister and your mom. If you ask me… that right there’s the adventure of a lifetime. I love music, and I’m always gonna play music, but it was never about any kinda fame or fortune for me.” What would superstardom be like? He can barely keep up with the merch and the interviews and the producers and the long nights at the recording studios and the music videos as it is. He’d hate being so far away from home, never getting a moment’s peace, never being able to breathe.
“Then… what was it about?” Emmett asks.
“Believing in myself,” Marty says after a moment of thought. “Getting my voice heard. Y’know, I was a lot like you when I was your age.”
“Really?” Emmett breathes, awestruck, as if unable to conceive such a thing. “But everybody says you’re like Ellie.”
“And I am.” It takes the wind out of him sometimes, how similar he and his daughter are. She’s just as fiery, just as creative, just as stubborn. Everyone’s always thought that, just like how people have always compared Emmett to Jennifer. But when he looks at his daughter, so often he sees his wife’s determination and intelligence, and when he looks at his son… sometimes he has to double check he’s not in the DeLorean.
“But I’m also like you, Em. It’s hard as hell being a kid, y’know? I remember. You got so many ideas and so many thoughts and you feel like you’re in this world that you don’t really understand yet and that’s gonna shoot you down every chance it gets. I just wanted somebody to see me, but that’s a scary thing. I tried real hard to pretend like I was tough and to make like I wasn’t afraid of anything… but I was terrified, kid. Still am, sometimes.” Marty rubs the back of his neck. “What I’m trying to say is, it’s okay not to be sure of yourself yet, and it’s okay to be open about your feelings. And whenever you wanna talk, I’m here for you, and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. Got it?”
“Got it.” Emmett smiles and hugs him again. “I love you, Dad.”
“Love you too. So damn much.” Marty kisses the top of his son’s head and ruffles his dirty blond hair, which is immediately greeted with protest.

I don't know if you've done this before: headcanons on Marty Junior and Marlene?
I'm almost positive I have done some sort of Junior and Marlene headcanon post, but I can't find it, so here are some off the top of my head. Gonna go with the versions of them that I imagine for the timeline that's fixed—where the Rolls Royce accident never happened—and Marty and Jennifer aren't miserable, lol. I think both Junior and Marlene would be more well adjusted in that one (especially Junior!)
• The difference in their personalities is evident to Marty and Jen pretty much from the start, with Marlene being the louder, more demanding of the twins and Junior being a much "easier" baby.
• They're extremely close, and Marlene naturally takes on the role of Junior's protector. Often, Marty and Jen have to remind Marlene to take a step back because she's being a little too much of a mother-hen to her brother, and they want Junior to learn to stand on his own two feet.
• Fixed-timeline Junior is quite different from the version of him in the 2015 we see in the movie. He's been raised in a more stable environment with a father who hasn't been defeated by life, so he's not the wimpy, scared little greasy guy who's easily pushed around. He's more sure of himself, not so easily frazzled, and is every bit as big-hearted as his father.
• Junior is not neurotypical. (How can he be? Look at Marty and George) I don't have a specific diagnosis in mind, but I know a draft of part II made reference to him being in a remedial school (and failing) so there's likely some learning disorder at play. In one of my Doctober chapters that include two-year-old versions of the twins, Clara's excited to learn that Junior has picked up a few new words—meanwhile, Marlene is using full sentences—so I do headcanon him as having been delayed in some areas.
[Side note: in that same scene, Doc tells Marty not to worry about Junior's progress, since Jules didn't start speaking until three-and-a-half, lol]
• Marty loves, loves, loves Marlene so much, but sometimes he thinks that she will be the death of him. Especially when she's young and full of sass and always getting into everything and he's struggling to keep up with her. He and Jen 100% lose Marlene in the mall on more than one occasion, and when they find her, she's just like, *shrug.*
• The twins have a special bond with Doc and Clara. Clara dotes on them but is especially close with Junior while Doc is closer to Marlene. When the kids are little and Marty and Jen feel like they're about to collapse from exhaustion, they dump Junior and Marlene at the Brown home and know they'll be well taken care of.
• As Marlene gets older, she's really into fashion, so she's close with her Aunt Linda. I can see Marlene being popular, but she's the type of popular girl who's liked by everyone. She has attitude, but she's not mean.
• Junior is just...Junior. He loves life and is out there doing his thing. He's the type who has a new hobby or interest every week, and Marty and Jen just have to roll with it. He walks in from school one day and goes, "I'm going to be a famous dancer, I decided" and then a week later says, "I want to learn to build a car" and they're just like, "Oh. Okay."
• I think they'd both try to learn an instrument at some point (likely guitar taught by Marty) but I can't decide if either of them would stick with it long term. Somehow, I don't see them being musicians.
• There's a part of me that wants to say an older Marlene eventually learns about time travel and all the wild stuff Marty went through. Idk how it would happen, though. Maybe she overhears something whispered between her parents in private or maybe she's just very perceptive and notices her father being weird about certain events in his life, so she corners him and is like, "Okay, Dad, spill the beans." Perhaps she's also put together some clues in all her time spent with Doc.
Thats about all I've got for now. Thanks for the ask!

mcfly july 2024 || 🌲 || day 14 Jennifer's Bad Dream
Tumblr media
When Hill Valley Preservation Society hosts a fundraising fair, everyone shows up with deep pockets, ready to try for the pink bear a fourth time because hey, it’s for the fundraiser.
Marty, Doc, Clara, and Marlene get stuck on top of the Ferris wheel when it breaks down.
Jennifer sighs. She turns to pick up Junior from the fountain’s edge.
“Are you done with your hot dog —?”
Junior’s gone.
“Junior?”
She spins.
“Junior?”
Jennifer’s heart stops when she sees him twenty feet away, teary-eyed. She lunges for his tiny wrist and envelops him.
“Don’t you scare me like that!”

Day 3: Music
Tumblr media
Just Marty playing some Christmas music for Junior and Marlene! (Their around 7 at this point)
Jennifer's in there I promise she's just watching in front of the imaginary camera that is capturing this scene.
You don't need amps for electric guitars in the bttf future take my word for it 🤫
I promise I didn't forget about this, it just ended up taking me an extra week to have time to focus on this oops-
I have no clue how far I'm going to get through this seeing my schedule but I for sure want to at least get through prompt 10 (My idea for 10 makes me want to cry happy tears I'm so excited for it)
Time taken: ~4.5 hours (Not quite sure as I accidentally left this open for a while doing nothing so my timer is messed up)
Did something experimental with the background trying to make it kinda light and then fade away. It's better than I expected it to turn out but not quite what I was imagining in my head. It was pulled off though so I'm happy.

Thinking about Marty jr and Marlene doing sibling stuff when they were younger
Like sneaking into each others rooms in the middle of the night
Marlene handing Jr some sweets and saying “here, have the rest!” Only for the packet to be completely empty
STARING CONTESTS, TRY NOT TO LAUGH
Fighting, it starts off serious but then they start laughing and can’t stop
Marlene getting Jr to ask for McDonalds because he’s the younger sibling
I just love them sm bro feel free to leave any hcs in tags or asks 💙
