The statue of Marko Marulić, by Ivan Mestrovic, in Split, Croatia. 

While this photo isn’t exactly falling apart, it did, however, strike my interest to learn the history behind the statue, and to see the rust running down the building.

One of Split’s most famous citizens can be seen in the Trg braće Radić or, as it’s better known locally, Voćni trg (Fruit Square). Standing high above the crowds, Marko Marulić is impressive in his long bronze robes, holding a large tablet on which he writes intently.
