Me flipping through Rogue & Gambit #1 and X- Force #38….
“Wasn’t…wasn’t Krakoa supposed to mean better quality for X-books….”
Seriously…Hickmans stuff wasn’t bad- but “Fallen Angels”/“New Mutants”/“X-Men Green”/“Cable”/“X-Force”/“Children of the Atom”/“X of Swords”-“Excalibur”-“X-Corp”-“Knights of X”/all the Wolverine titles have ALL been pretty dang awful!
“Marauders” quality dropped HARD!
Duggan’s “X-Men” is pretty hit or miss…
The only consistent titles seem/seemed to be- “Way of X”/“X-Factor”/“Hellions”/“X-Men Red”/“Sins of Sinister”/“X-terminators”….
Truthfully…I think Marvel definitely NEEDS to cut “X-Force” for a while- the last few years it’s been one middling disaster after another! Marvel also NEEDS to scale back the X-line! Stop the bleed and focus on quality over quantity, while bringing on some stronger writers. Most of ALL- stop doing comic events for a while! This has all pretty much been the case for a while now…
With Krakoa presumably coming to an end with “X-Men: Before the Fall”… I really hope they FINALLY try to fix these problems and clean up the mess! 😬
Also…I really MISS Mike Marts as Senior X-Men editor…Jordan D. White and Mark Paniccia have just been rough 😐

Marvel Comics has revealed Star Wars: Jedi Knights is a new series launching in March 2025. Written by marc Guggenheim with art by Madibek Musabekov, the ongoing series takes place before The Phantom Menace featuring Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Count Dooku, Mace Windu, and many more.
“Marc and Madibek deliver a blockbuster first issue with a cliffhanger that kicks off one action-packed issue after another featuring your favorite Jedi,” Editor Mark Paniccia teased. “You’ve literally never seen so much lightsaber action in a comic book!”
So what’s Star Wars: Jedi Knights about?
In addition to featuring iconic and fan-favorite Jedi, the series will introduce all new Jedi characters that served the Republic during this pivotal era. Each issue will spotlight a different Jedi duo on a different mission throughout the galaxy, but an overarching threat binds them together. Who is the mysterious new villain targeting Qui-Gon Jinn for death and how will it force the Jedi Order to evolve for a new age?

"We, as Marvel and particularly editor Mark Paniccia, who has a keen interest in Iron Fist, have a number of different ways we’re gonna celebrate the character—both the character of Danny Rand, who is celebrating his 50th anniversary, and the Iron Fist itself—the powers, the legacy, K’un-Lun, the dragon, the other Immortal Weapons...We’re now working to get back all the creators who have contributed to Iron Fist over the years in hopes that they’ll all contribute something new to the legacy, be it a story set in the past, during their run or something new."
The wonderful Omar Guerrero (iamironfist23 on Twitter) has been doing a countdown to the 50th anniversary of Iron Fist over on Twitter, which I highly recommend checking out! A few days ago, he posted this exciting interview he conducted with Marvel Editor-In-Chief C.B. Cebulski, who shared some details about what we can expect in terms of Marvel's celebration of Danny, Colleen, and Misty's big milestone year.

"Plastic People" World Premiere at SXSW Terrifies
The Canadian documentary “Plastic People,” directed by Ben Addelman and Ziya Tong, had its World Premiere at SXSW on Saturday, March 9th, 2024. It is an absolutely terrifying piece of detective work, investigating how our fixation on plastic came to be and what plastic is doing to us. The synopsis said: “Plastic People is a landmark feature documentary that chronicles humanity’s fraught relationship with plastic and one woman’s mission to expose shocking new revelations about the impact of microplastics on human health.” The directors of the Canadian documentary are Ben Addelman and Ziya Tong. The producers are Vanessa Dylyn and Stephen Paniccia. Ben Addelman also wrote the screenplay. The film explores the origins of plastic (petroleum products) and suggests, “Now we’re realizing that we made some big mistakes…We’re finding them wherever we look in the human body.” Noting that 83% of tap water has plastic in it, the experts shown onscreen tell us, “We are slowly turning into plastic people.” Among other cheerily prophetic statements are these: “We are poisoning ourselves with our own hands. We are producing poisonous food.” Christy Tyler, a PhD scientist says, “Every single person is exposed.” BIG MONEY The income of makers of plastic is mind-boggling. With the efforts to curb the production of vehicles that use gas the makers of plastic are looking at other ways to push up production and sales. One avenue: support the single use of plastic, rather than recycling. Furthermore, says the film, the myth that some plastic can be recycled is inaccurate, since less than 10% of plastic, worldwide, gets recycled. The SXSW documentary lists the following money made by big petroleum: - BASF - $65 billion - Exxon Mobil - $231 billion annual revenue - Dow Chemical - $48 billion - SABIC - $35 billion - Chevron Phillips - $3 billion - Plastic bottles used daily? 1.5 billion. Two million plastic bags are used every minute, amounting to 400 tons a year. - The film asks, “Do we want to destroy the world to enrich a few?” THE VERY BAD The entire message of the film is depressing. It doesn’t get any better when we see Dr. Celticki performing a brain operation and noting the presence of plastic that has crossed the blood-brain barrier. “If it can go to the brain, it can go everywhere,” he says. “We are living in a synthetic world made mostly of plastic.” Transferring all of this to an unborn generation means risking losing that entire generation. The effects of all of these chemicals on our bodies may not become clear for decades. Whether humans will be able to reproduce in the normal fashion in a few decades is in question and in vitro seems in legal limbo in some states at the moment. HEALTH CONSEQUENCES All of these chemicals in our modern-day world have led to major increases in breast cancer, prostate cancer, and thyroid cancer. It is well-known that chronic inflammation is a precursor to serious illnesses. Male fertility has declined and it may not even be possible to reproduce in the "normal" way in a few decades if steps are not taken to halt this alarming trend. Fracking is another example of a very bad idea, health-wise. In Portland, Texas a local resident talks about how the nearby Gulf Coast Growth Ventures Exxon Mobil plant spews pollution (1.6 tons of ethylene) and burns so brightly at all times that you can come outside and read a newspaper at night. PREVIOUS FILMS ABOUT POLLUTION Like the movie “Erin Brockovich,” Diane Wilson of San Antonio, in defense of the fishing industry, described taking on 10 chemical plants that were dumping 5 million gallons of toxic waste daily. (“Corporations do not have a conscience.”) She sued Formosa and won a $50 million-dollar settlement. Her fight reminded me of that waged against Teflon coating in frying pans by Mark Ruffalo’s character in the 2019 film “Dark Waters.” Then there’s John Travolta’s 1998 film “A Civil Action.” And has anybody missed the Camp LeJeune notifications on TV? BRIGHT SPOT One small bright spot was how the Philippines has done some clean-up of their extremely polluted shores. It followed right after the news that the big countries export their waste to the small countries, like the Philippines, something referred to as pollution colonialism. The prophetic word spoken to Dustin Hoffman in “The Graduate” (Plastics) has come back to haunt us Big Time. What we are now seeing is described as “the embodiment of capitalism.” At film’s end, a Rwanda effort to curb single-use plastics is lauded, but its spokesperson says, “We need big countries to ban the use of single use plastic items.” The watchword is RESTRAIN and REDUCE (but nobody’s doing it). CONCLUSION This is not a “happy” film, but it is a necessary one. The scripted line, “Only when the problem becomes too big do we ask the questions” struck home. I pondered how that sentiment also applies to climate change. The weird weather anomalies that we are all experiencing now came about because we ignored that major problem for much too long. After watching “Plastic People” I felt like I needed a drink, but straws are out now. Darth Vader – Black, White & Red #2 STAR WARS DARTH VADER BLACK, WHITE & RED When Anakin Skywalker turned to the dark side, he became Darth Vader, one of the most powerful Sith of all time. In his service to the evil Galactic Empire, he has left a trail of destruction and terror, striking fear into the hearts of millions across the galaxy…. Writers: Jason Aaron, David Pepose, Victoria Ying Penciller: Leonard Kirk, Alessandro Vitti, Marika Cresta Inker: Leonard Kirk Letterer: Joe Caramagna Colorist: Romulo Fajardo Jr. Cover artist: Adam Kubert Editor: Mark Paniccia Publication date: May 24, 2023 We kick off and return to last issues opening story Hard Shutdown, as Darth Vader finds himself in arguably the trickiest and most physically dangerous predicament we've ever seen him in, chained to a table as the son of the man who designed many of his own cybernetic systems is about to carve him up for sale to the highest bidder. However, this is Darth Vader - the threat looms for only a moment as the scientist about to start chopping suddenly loses control and begins slicing into his own people, and they run out of the room, only half of them managing to escape before the doors seal shut. Vader is using the Force, and Cyn's plans are turned against him as they prepare to shut Vader down for the final time.... We quickly turn to the second story of this second issue The Endless Mercy as Vader and the 501st forcibly enter a Phial-Class Heavy Transport, there to learn more about a secret bioweapon that's being designed. As Vaders troops scour the ship for clues, a huge creature attacks one of the troopers, and quickly they regroup as Vader ignites his blade, but the creatures are too strong and too many and as Vader's helmet is bashed off his head he is soon caught up in a web with his troopers. Vader manages to escape, fighting until he is brought to his knees and here he learns the truth - the queen of these creatures is Doctor Sera Lemare, the woman who was leading the bioresearch. Lemare explains how her research turned her crew into these creatures, how she then became queen to control this new hive mind and as she believes Vader is its newest member, he uses the dark side to fight his way out, sending the vessel screaming into the ground to destroy her and her work and walking from the flames victorious. [gallery link="file" columns="2" size="large" ids="144718,144719"] The third and final chapter Power is a fascinating snapshot of the galaxy and the power that rules it from the point of view of a kid in the Outer Rim. With no frame of reference to measure Vader against, we see young Niko, a keen young reader who's selling water from his rickshaw when he stumbles onto the turf of a streetgang who are less than impressed to see him. Telling Niko that the only thing that counts in the Outer Rim is power they work him over, damaging the vehicle and his droid, but undeterred he carries on, back home where he finds his homestead on fire and his mother panicking. There he sees Noegaud, the leader of the gang who appears to have ignited the flames just as laser blasts erupt and the Empire arrive. Niko watches, then sees Darth Vader on the hunt for a rebel who we realise is Noegaud, and Niko looks in shock....then smiles as Vader walks away. An interesting second issue, with a selection of tales that may well be canon but very much feel more like Star Wars Visions stories. Interesting, enjoyable, with great artwork and some solid situations, this is worth a read but so far not an essential read. [amazon box="B0BZZY7RTS"]
