Yes, I’m alive and well…the ‘Rona didn’t get me! However, I did welcome another birthday! *Happy 73 to me!* Such an accumulation of years means my get up and go seems to have got up and went AWOL, at least for awhile LOL!

all of your posts on jacob are super valid. I was wondering if you had any good fic recommendations? I'm especially privy to fix-it fics or do-over fics

hey :) thanks! i should preface this list by admitting that a lot of the jacob/bella fics i have read and loved were BEFORE i had an ao3 account, so i had no way of keeping track of them. alas, i have never been able to find some of the best ones i remember. also i can be hella picky with my fics, especially for this pairing because 75% of them are 1) ooc to the extreme, 2) edward-bashing, or 3) written by a twelve year old. ALSO a lot of these are bella-centric, which can be good, but it’s really difficult to find any works with a well-written jacob (which is uhhhh my intention). the following is a list of well-rated fics i have read and enjoyed:

The Definition of Want by audreyii_fic (56k, E) is a must-read for all fans of Jacob/Bella. It’s the most popular of the fics on this list, and for good reason: it’s well-written, super smutty, and sweet. Warning for graphic sex (but we’re all adults here) (i hope). The author has several other drabbles & shorts of equal relevance.

Sway, Wolf Voodoo, and Tea by AvaJune (17k, E) is also a good one. Premise: Edward is unconsciously mind-washing Bella via his magic vampire powers. A lil dub-con of forcing Bella to drink magic tea, which made me go “mmm??” but still a good story.

Whether the Weather Be Grey by runningsissors (13k, T) is a lil angsty piece about Bella realizing Edward isn’t what she wants. She comes home and runs into Jake. Really well-written. This author has a few other excellent shorts (I recommend Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day and We’ll Dress You Up Like You’re Good and New).

ok now here are a lot that i have not read, but i scoured the web and they’re all completed with good reviews (let me know if you read any of these and enjoy them, cause then i will too lol):

Return to Sender by grrlinterrupted (35k, E): “Jake fell in love with his friend Bella the summer he was thirteen. Five years later, she's back, and ready for far more than friendship, but each is waiting for the other to make the first move. No monsters, no magic, just fluff.”

Better Now by orphan_account (sad days, I hate orphan accounts) (101k, E) I’m pretty sure this is a famous one? I’ve never read it, oh well. “Charlie got Bella the professional help she needed when Edward took off. Now Edward's back - and she's different. AU New Moon - after Volterra - and Eclipse. Mostly in-character, Edward's not villainized.”

Over the Moon by Flaming Maple (76k, M): “Almost home, and almost about to discover Alice, Bella looks up, instead of away. Her future unfolds in a remarkably different way—this time, with Jacob. The vampires, however, whose paths have crossed hers before, are not done with her yet. Bella’s first year at college is more challenging than she ever expected.” Warning: Major Character Death (don’t worry, it’s not Jacob or Bella)

Living/Breathing by sadbrowngirlpoetry (51k, T): “Bella asks Jacob to leave Forks with her — he accepts. Only the web of the supernatural she has caught herself into is not easy to escape. A re-write of New Moon, beginning on page 286 in Chapter 12: "Intruder".”

Daybreak by VivaJayne (109k, M): “I risked a quick glance at Jacob's face. His eyes were boring into mine, indecision and longing written on his face. How could you?”

The Natural Path by MarieCarro (17k, T): “Bella hesitates at the cliff just before she's about to jump when her hallucinatory Edward tells her to move on. He tells her to be happy and she wonders what he means with that. Just then, Jake appears, looking scared when he sees Bella stand by the edge. Bella wonders if she's supposed to move on and be happy with Jake.”

Full Moon by lucy quinn fabray (21k, T): “A New Moon rewrite from Jacob's POV. Edward leaves Bella and she spirals into a deep depression. Jacob offers her happiness and undying loyalty. But things get complicated shortly thereafter...”

Youth Knows No Pain by HalcyonSeasons (6k, T, but it’s a trilogy so it adds up to 25k): “Bella and Jacob drive off together on spring break. No parents, no Sam Uley, nothing. Will their friendship survive? Will it grow stronger? Here is my take on a particular scene in New Moon. "Maybe we should just get out of here. Just leave. Just you and me. We can get away from Sam and everything, even it's just for a little while."”

this is by no means a comprehensive list, or even a good one. i wish i’d read more fanfic in this fandom. also, now that i’m thinking about it, the lack of good jacob fic is making me want to frickin write!

The Year 2020 (and it’s only July)

Stole this from MarieCarro Vanadessë, who got it from Alyscia who got it from ... somewhere 😁 like her, I just want this to pop up in my FB memories so I can remember the absurdity of 2020!

This is long but totally hilarious and brilliant.

Dear Diary 2020 Edition, In January, Australia caught on fire. I don’t even know if that fire was put out, because we straight up almost went to war with Iran. We might actually still be almost at war with them. I don’t know, because Jen Aniston and Brad Pitt spoke to one another at an awards show and everyone flipped the crap out, but then there was thing happening in China, then Prince Harry and Megan peaced out of the Royal family, and there was the whole impeachment trial, and then corona virus showed up in the US “officially,” but then Kobe died and UK peaced out of the European Union.

In February, Iowa crapped itself with the caucus results and the president was acquitted and the Speaker of the House took ten years to rip up a speech, but then WHO decided to give this virus a name COVID-19, which confused some really important people in charge of, like, our lives, into thinking there were 18 other versions before it, but then Harvey Weinstein was found guilty, and Americans started asking if Corona beer was safe to drink, and everyone on Facebook became a doctor who just knew the flu like killed way more people than COVID 1 through 18.

In March, stuff hit the fan. Warren dropped out of the presidential race and Sanders was like Bernie or bust, but then Italy shut its whole country down, and then COVID Not 1 through 18 officially become what everyone already realized, a pandemic and then a nationwide state of emergency was declared in US, but it didn’t really change anything, so everyone was confused or thought it was still just a flu, but then COVID Not 18 was like ya’ll not taking me seriously? I’m gonna infect the one celebrity everyone loves and totally infected Tom Hanks, but then the DOW took a crap on itself, and most of us still don’t understand why the stock market is so important or even a thing (I still don’t), but then we were all introduced to Tiger King. (Carol totally killed her husband), and Netflix was like you’re welcome, and we all realized there was no way we were washing our hands enough in the first place because all of our hands are now dry and gross.

In April, Bernie finally busted himself out of the presidential race, but then NYC became the set of The Walking Dead and we learned that no one has face masks, ventilators, or toilet paper, or THE FREAKING SWIFFER WET JET LIQUID, but then Kim Jong-Un died, but then he came back to life… or did he? Who knows, because then the Pentagon released videos of UFOs and nobody cared, and we were like man, it’s only April….

In May, the biblical end times kicked off historical locust swarms and then we learned of murder hornets and realized that 2020 was the start of the Hunger Games but people forgot to let us know, but then people legit protested lockdown measures with AR-15s, and then sports events were cancelled everywhere. But then people all over America finally reached a breaking point with race issues and violence. There were protests in every city, but then people forgot about the pandemic called COVID Not One Through 18. Media struggled with how to focus on two important things at once, but then people in general struggle to focus on more than one important thing, and a dead whale was found in the middle of the Amazon rain forest after monkeys stole COVID 1 Through 19 from a lab and ran off with them, and either in May or April (no one is keeping track of time now) that a giant asteroid narrowly missed Earth.

In June, science and common sense just got thrown straight out the window and somehow wearing masks became a political thing, but then everyone sort of remembered there was a pandemic, but then decided that not wearing a mask was somehow a God given right (still haven't found that part in the bible or even in the constitution), but then scientists announced they found a mysterious undiscovered mass at the center of the earth, and everyone was like DON’T YOU DARE TOUCH IT, but then everyone took a pause to realize that people actually believed Gone With The Wind was like non-fiction, but then it was also announced that there is a strange radio single coming from somewhere in the universe that repeats itself every so many days, and everyone was like DON’T YOU DARE ATTEMPT TO COMMUNICATE WITH IT, but then America reopened from the shut down that actually wasn’t even a shut down, and so far, things have gone spectacularly not that great, but everyone is on Facebook arguing that masks kill because no one knows how breathing works, but then Florida was like hold my beer and let me show you how we’re number one in all things, including new Not Corona Beer Corona Virus. Trump decides now is a good time to ask the Supreme Court to shut down Obama Care because what better time to do so than in the middle of a pandemic, but then we learned there was a massive dust cloud coming straight at us from the Sahara Desert, which is totally normal, but this is 2020, so the ghost mummy thing is most likely in that dust cloud, but then I learned of meth-gators, and I'm like that is so not on my flipping 2020 Bingo card, but then we learned that the Congo's worse ever Ebola outbreak is over, and we were all like, there was an Ebola outbreak that was the worse ever? In July…. Aliens? Zeus? Asteroids? Artificial Intelligence becomes self aware?

I have no idea who wrote this; and dang it, I want to know.
