Today, the tamarin population has soared to 4,800 individuals, nearly doubling their numbers before the yellow fever outbreak. This journey from the brink of extinction to recovery exemplifies the potential of conservation and scientific intervention, providing renewed hope for this iconic species' future.

Brazil's Bolsonaro 'fully aware' and engaged in a coup plot, report reveals

Final report of the Federal Police investigation was made public by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes

In its final report on the investigation of the 2022 coup attempt, Brazil’s Federal Police states that Former President Jair Bolsonaro was “fully aware” of the plan to attack democracy in the country and worked to make the coup happen.

“The evidence obtained during the investigation unequivocally shows that the then President of the Republic, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, planned, worked and had direct and effective control of the executory acts carried out by the criminal organization that aimed to carry out a coup to abolish the democratic rule of law, a fact that did not materialize due to circumstances beyond his control,” says the Federal Police in its report, which was released on Tuesday (26) by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes.

During the investigation, the federal agents heard the declarations of the former commanders of the Army, Marco Antônio Freire Gomes, and the Air Force, Carlos de Almeida Baptista Júnior, who stayed that Bolsonaro organized meetings at the Planalto Palace – the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic – after being defeated by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the November 2022 presidential election.

Renaming Established Characters

I was thinking last night. I think one of the funniest things I do in my fanfic, ESPECIALLY my selfship universes, is just... giving mfs names with little to no explaination.

I mean, I know why I gave them the names that I did. I know why I call them what I call them but to some random person stumbling across my blogs, I bet I give these folks the whippest of whiplashes kdfbshd

Like, Aizawa (according to no one but me) being born with a whole entire Brazilian name: Marcos da Silva that was changed to a fully Japanese name, taking his stepdad's surname when he was in his later elementary school years to help him blend in with his peers more because he already stuck out like a sore fucking thumb.

Then there's sweet Reina: Reina Hattori. I just got tired of tagging her as Reina (yakuza) and tired of writing formal characters referring to her as Reina-san when they refer to everyone else on a surname only basis. I also just felt like my wife deserved a full fucking name! And so, Reina Hattori or Hattori, Reina was born.

Oh, this isn't exactly a rename but then there's the the way I refer to Akira Nishikiyama. Nishiki is when he's his younger, bright eyed and bushy tailed self lmao jk. Basically just '88 to '96. Then, Nishikiyama is '96-'05. And I do that to kinda refer to the warmer vs colder nature that saying the two gives me personally, but other people seem to use them interchangebly and I think that's their perogative.

Man, then don't even get me started on my boy Saitama who has been known to me as Taro Saitama for longer than I can remember now. Taro came from me finding out for a mystery project that ALLEGEDLY in Japan, they refer to their John and Jane Doe's as Taro and Hanako Yamada, respectively. I also read they refer to them as nanashi no gombei which I think translates in english to "a no named so and so" which sounds SO WILD to me. But, given the overall tone of OPM, I thought naming him Taro would be so fucking funny and it stuck with me ever since.

There are other characters I've either renamed or I have name rules for but these are the first ones that come to mind rn

Dilma Rousseff was re-elected for a new term as head of the BRICS New Development Bank (NDB) on March 23, only days after admitted Indonesia into the multilateral bank. In this way, Dilma is continuing her work of generating liquidity for the NDB, while also expanding the global de-dollarization process.

The diplomatic backing she established during her years as president of Brazil (2011-2016), combined with her strong performance as president of the NDB, were assets that contributed to her unanimous re-election. Heading the institution since 2023, after Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva appointed her to replace Marcos Troyjo, chosen by Jair Bolsonaro’s government, Dilma takes on a new five-year term.

Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has the power to nominate the head of the BRICS Bank for the next cycle, nominated Dilma to continue in the role. The reasons that led to her reappointment to preside over the NDB are diverse, but always taking into account the quality of the work under her leadership at the bank. Dilma generated liquidity, resulting in a new volume of credit contributions for infrastructure projects.

Additionally, the sanctions imposed on Russia also influenced Putin’s decision to select Dilma. It would be significantly more challenging for a Russian official to travel to other countries, engage in person-to-person political negotiations with foreign authorities, and even utilize banking and financial services on behalf of a bank while under sanctions.

April 8 (UPI) -- Elon Musk called for a judge on Brazil's Supreme to quit or be impeached after Justice Alexandre de Moraes launched an inquiry into his X social media platform in an escalating row over misinformation dating back to the Jan. 8 riots in Brasilia in 2023.

In a post on X on Sunday, Musk, the owner and chief technology officer of the company, said court decisions forcing X to "block certain popular accounts in Brazil" along with a gagging order preventing X from talking about the action were unconstitutional and that the company would no longer comply.

"Coming shortly, X will publish everything demanded by de Moraes and how those requests violate Brazilian law. This judge has brazenly and repeatedly betrayed the constitution and people of Brazil. He should resign or be impeached," Musk wrote.

"These are the most draconian demands of any country on Earth!"

But in a response to a late Saturday night post by Musk threatening to unblock the accounts, Moraes announced Sunday he was adding Musk to his ongoing investigation of "digital militias" and the opening of a fresh inquiry into Musk to "prevent the eventual practice of obstruction of justice, a criminal organization and incitement to crime."

Accusing Musk of mounting a disinformation campaign against the Supreme Court, he imposed daily fines $19,775 for each profile reactivated by the platform.

X's Global Government Affairs team said in a post that many of the details supporting the action had been obscured.

"We do not know the reasons these blocking orders have been issued. We do not know which posts are alleged to violate the law. We are prohibited from saying which court or judge issued the order, or on what grounds. We are prohibited from saying which accounts are impacted. We are threatened with daily fines if we fail to comply," it wrote.

"We believe that such orders are not in accordance with the Marco Civil da Internet or the Brazilian Federal Constitution, and we will challenge the orders legally where possible."

The accounts in question are thought to be connected to posts on X by far-right activists and figures that may have helped fuel the January 2023 storming of Congress, the Supreme Court and the presidential palace by thousands of rioters supporting former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Moraes is also investigating Bolsonaro and his supporters for their alleged involvement in an abortive coup to overthrow the result of the October 2022 presidential election that brought President Lula da Silva to office.
