The Defense of one suspect and reasoning why the other one is sus(big spoilers for ep14 of DRDT)
Okay so with the huge reveal in the latest episode, we had a big revelation that we are down to two people who could be the killers. This post shall be a heavy discussion of that, so if you haven’t check out the latest episode, please go watch it before continuing to read(thank you!) Also warning: This is very long so prepare yourself to read for awhile if you can or want to.
Those being Eden or Ace. These two are picked as the murders due to both being connected to Nico’s murder attempt on Ace's account of being there. As for why, it’s because only those two could see the murder scene and gain access to the most important part of the crime scene, the tape. I’ve seen both parties talk about why their respective theories on which one did it before this episode. And while I can’t guarantee who I believe is innocent is not the culprit or vice versa, I wanted to share why I don’t believe Ace is the killer. Which would leave Eden as the culprit(unless we get another twist that there was someone following her). I’m going to go point by point with my reasoning. It probably won’t be perfect, but hey. If no one going to try to defend Ace, then I will(poor dude needs it, like seriously it’s so sad he has no one in his corner).
Reason 1: The crime scene + tape
As Teruko concluded, the culprit is connected to Nico’s murder attempt and tries to reuse that method to kill Arei. We know for sure Teruko is not the killer obviously from seeing her POV+ no motive to do so. When we get to the murder scene, we see that before Ace gets up, Teruko and Eden have enough time to look around at what happened. While Eden tells Teruko she needs a minute to process this, for all we know Eden could’ve been scanning the room still or maybe even listening to Teruko’s explanation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Right as Ace gets up, he’s in pain and yelling while knocking Eden to the ground. He then grabs onto his neck from it stinging in pain.
Tumblr media
After Teruko questioned him on what happened, he explained Nico tried to kill him(which he would know it was Nico before being knocked out again since Nico verified that he woke up struggling from the fan before going unconscious again when he hit the floor). To which to add to this, Ace at this moment must’ve been trying to get the wire off of his neck while getting a glance at Nico before he caused the fan to fall down and knock him back unconscious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He then bolts out of the room to go find Nico to kill them. Afterwards, Teruko and Eden are greeted by MonoTv who has to clean up the scene and then kicks them out. They both go after Ace, who after talking with Teruko, Eden, and Levi, goes into his room for the night.
Now this could arguably be either him or Eden who grabbed the tape. But let’s think about what happens here. Ace wakes up in pain after being unconscious, immediately tries putting pressure on the source of his pain, and then runs out of the room trying to find Nico which is on his mind. Ace didn’t have enough time to absorb what was happening to process what Nico did to him along with grabbing the tape. But Eden however? She had a few minutes to look around the scene and was even knocked down onto the floor. And what was on the floor before that happened? The tape. (Also ignore the pony reacting to the tape being missing, I just wanted to draw my sona reacting to it for fun)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another important detail to this is that MonoTv kicked Teruko and Eden out of the gym to clean it up.
Tumblr media
To which it stated “I kept the gym closed overnight to make sure everything was super dry. Don’t want you slipping and falling into my chemical cleaning brews!” Meaning no one would’ve been able to go back and grab the tape or see the crime scene before it was cleaned up. So at that moment if our potential killers wanted to get that tape for murder, it would have to be right at the moment Teruko and Eden entered and caught Nico. Ace only had one thing on his mind, which was finding Nico. So he would not have picked up the tape. Plus we have to keep in mind that Ace acts on his emotions rather than logic(basically he ain’t that smart). Bro was willing to kill Nico(even though the complications of what would happen if he did it) without stopping for a moment to realize what happened nor to let himself calm down. I doubt he thought of a complex idea to copy Nico’s murder on the spot like that. While Eden on the other hand, our little clockmaker would probably be able to understand the mechanism of this murder in a matter of minutes since she’s used to having to build and work with parts running in motion.
Reason 2: Eden’s behavior, the note, and the timing of Alibi
Eden’s behavior across this case has been strange to me on rewatch. When going to the moment when they found Arei dead. Whit tries to cheer up Eden who is sad and crying over Arei dying. Immediately afterward switching up in saying she’s fine and just needs to deal with it. Even being peppy of saying “I’m super ready to investigate! I’ll do everything I can to help find Arei’s killer”.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She then tries to investigate with Teruko before she rejects her out of worry she could be the killer. Eden still tries to follow Teruko after this and overhears her talking to Charles, Whit, and Rose about the note. We know the note does have Eden’s name and was written to Arei to come meet her at the playground.
Tumblr media
Now the logic was brought up of why would Eden try to help resemble the note when that would incriminate her to be the killer. Well, remember, pieces of the note were missing, with the key part being the time on whether it’s “PM” or “AM”. This evidence must’ve been important for Eden to get to prevent anyone from knowing when the murder takes place. Since Arei’s murder was confirmed to have occurred at 7:30 am due to her swinging. We know Eden doesn’t have an alibi for the morning. Only at night around that time she does.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even the nighttime alibi I argue could’ve not prevented her from getting the fish due to the time frame of when her alibi is and the relaxation room. Eden claims around 7:30 pm that she was cleaning up dinner with Hu, right around when people thought it was the original murder time. Nico claimed after dinner, they went to feed the fish and then left afterward without seeing anyone. We know the relaxation room closes at 10 pm.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To which I purposed that Eden would’ve had enough time to get the water before it closed and after Nico left. Nico didn’t keep track of what time they fed the fish right? So for all we know they could’ve finished up dinner early or around 7:30 pm, left, and fed the fish. I doubt it took Eden and Hu that long to clean up dinner, so she could’ve slipped and gone to the relaxation room before 10 pm to receive the fish. Now yes you can still apply this to Ace of doing this still too, but I just wanted to point out that Eden could’ve still done it within the time frame. Eden if she was the culprit, she would wanted the note to be vague originally to make them think it was around 7:30pm as around the time of her alibi with Hu so no one would think of any suspicious on her possibly preparing for Arei’s murder for in the morning. Which would by default make someone like Ace who has no alibis at nighttime and the morning seem more suspicious than her who has one at least during nighttime. Thus why she came over to help repair the note as while it would make her seem suspicious of restoring it, she could argue with someone trying to frame her and that “Why would I help repair something that would incriminate me!?”
Tumblr media
Reason 3: Evidence that doesn’t add up with Ace.
The evidence that confuses me with Ace being the killer is the starch ball and the turpentine. The starch ball most fans have concluded is turpentine, which was used for the clothes to stick them together. The thing is we don’t know the exact use this has in the murder case. But that isn’t important for this yet, what is important is where it came from. Charles found the ball in the dress-up room formed by Teruko and Hu’s old clothes.
Tumblr media
The clothes were left in the dressing room. Meaning the murderer must’ve known about this outfit change occurring in there. We see suspiciously later that before Nico’s murder attempt, Eden was already there when Teruko went to that room. Eden claims she heard about the outfit change from Hu and went there to receive the new clothes for her and Teruko.
Tumblr media
Eden at this time could’ve easily gotten hold of Teruko and Hu’s old clothes to use. Not to mention, if we assume that Eden was going to plan to kill Arei(just maybe didn’t have a set method yet), their conversation between them of Arei promising to be Eden’s friend happened before she came here.
Tumblr media
As for Ace, when at any point was he in the dressing room? He wasn’t there when Teruko, Hu, and Whit had outfit changes or after it. So I’m confused about where Ace could’ve known about the clothes and got them to form the ball. And the ball has to be important as otherwise why is it there? It needs to be used for some part of the murder we haven’t figured out(my guess is it was used to knock out Arei) as I doubt the Dev would’ve just added a useless piece of evidence(even in DR there wasn’t evidence that was useless or not used). The only thing I’m confused about is how Eden got the turpentine, but idk how Ace would’ve either.
Reason 4: Fricken David
Okay I know this is David we’re talking about here and we know he’s a lying scumbag who tried manipulating everyone into committing mass suicide to follow in what he thinks Xander wanted to do to end the killing game. But I don’t think he’s lying about seeing Arei first. As much David trying to get everyone killed here(which causes more doubt of agreeing with J on he could be lying AND putting the idea into Teruko’s head that “Oh you want to distrust others, it’s the only thing you can do” which would motivate her into trusting Eden), I think he’s serious about Arei. If David truly didn’t care about Arei, then why were we shown that flashback that continued off of the conversation Arei and David had that Ace overheard?
Tumblr media
David thought back on that moment when Arei confided in him that she was relieved they were the same and that maybe they could be friends while learning to be less shitty together. He even lied to Eden that nothing else happened because he didn’t want to share that moment or possibly give despair to Eden about what happened between them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even before when he had his fake persona on, the way he reacted about Arei dying and in the trial of his feelings towards the killer…I feel like it’s one of the rare times he’s being genuine about his feelings here. Arei was someone who understood him and could’ve helped him as a friend…to only lose her the next day. Of course, he’d be pissed and upset. I can even believe he did see her first because in disbelief or upset that he lost the only person who truly knew and understood him. Following I wrote out the dialogue word for word of the scene where David describes how Arei could’ve fallen for the note, him showing disgust for the killer, and even Eden showing regret in thinking this(which before we thought was just about the note, but now…she might’ve meant that as “I killed Arei and all she wanted to do was change…but I didn’t give her that chance….it is my fault”).
David: What kind of person would fall for such an obvious trap? You’d have to be shortsighted, naive, foolish, senseless, downright idiotic.. Unless, of course, you were Arei
David: That girl wanted desperately to prove herself as a “friend” to Eden. And yet she completely lacked any experience with what “friends” were actually like.
David: Of course it never occurred to her that handling out suspicious notes was something that normal people did. What could she know about “friendship” after all? Someone like her, who had not once experienced kindness in entire her life up until now?
David: Even if she had her misgivings about something so suspicious, she must have pushed it aside due to her unwavering faith in her blossoming friendship. A friendship that she didn’t understand in the slightest.
David: It’s…it’s so…Ahaha. It’s just so foolish. For someone to take advantage of Arei like that….
David: It’s absolutely unforgivable. All she wanted was to change. What a reprehensible person this killer is. I look forward to seeing their painful execution.
Eden: …So then…It really is my fault…isn’t it? She died because she believed in me
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With David’s expression throughout this entire scene even if this was before he revealed his true colors. It shows signs of his true self and how much he really loathes the person who killed Arei. He knows personally that she wanted to change and that she understood him. There’s no way by now he’s making it up that he didn’t see her body with knowing how much emotion he has in his facial expression and dialogue in this scene. It also really doesn’t help Eden’s case of seeming so regretful after this.
Reason 5: The theme of the chapter overall
Okay, so I think ultimately to me at least, why it doesn’t seem like Ace would fit as the culprit of this chapter is due to its theme. The theme is “There are no good or bad people” and “Everyone is not always what they seem”. We see throughout this chapter that every character we thought was a “good person” is slowly showing their flaws and even turning out to have some darkness in them.
We thought Levi was just an awkward guy who wanted to be helpful to others around him, turns out he killed 4 people(one is his dad) and barely remembers it because no one he cares about as the concept of caring for others is foreign to him and he just tries to copies others to try to be good. Nico seems like a shy person who struggles to defend themself from bullies like Ace. Nico then literally tries to murder Ace and almost does, while admitting(with regret) that they did try to kill Ace because Ace reminded them of their traumatic past with their peers, teachers, and father. David is the biggest example of someone we thought cared about giving inspirational speeches to others to turn out to be a manipulative jerk who might be suffering from depression(if he was telling the truth which I think he was to some extent). Even others had their moments too with Arturo being revealed to have guilt over his sister dying because he left and threatening Eden to keep it secret, Veronika only doing her talent to prevent herself from self-harming her, and even Hu showing her flaws of trying to be useful and letting her ego get the best of her in defending the wrong people.
So looking at both of our two culprits, Eden fits to be the main culprit. Before all of the reveals and Arei’s revelation about good and bad, I felt like the characters were categorized into two groups. The “Saints/Good people” and “The jerks/irredeemable ones”. Like what Arei said, she thought people like Eden and David were the ideal good people to look up to or to be, while someone like her who had a rough start and ended up as a jerk cannot ever be good. To assume that means not seeing any of the other cast people as people generally can either be good or bad or even neither(morally grey).
We see the flaws of who we thought was the ideal good or potentially good person of David, Hu, Nico, or Levi while seeing there’s more than what meets the eye to the jerk group of Arturo, Ace, and Arei(the triple A battery squad lol). Eden is the only person left in the cast we haven’t seen(not counting her being responsible for Xander’s eye as only us the audience seen that) whose main flaws or her status as a good person is broken. I’m not saying Eden has to be the culprit to reveal she was secretly evil all this time! But she has to be the culprit because she has yet to be shown as human as Arei is. Ace started as a jerk and while still is, we get hints and see how his situation is a tragic one. Like Arei, he probably had a bad start in life or before this killing game that affected him. His worst enemies are himself and the others, he has no one to defend his side for who he is to them. Despite the fact, that he’s a victim of an almost murder attempt on his life and even a victim of an eating disorder that is eating away from his body and mind. Ace unlike Eden or Nico doesn’t have someone willing to defend him or speak up for him when in trouble. The one person he did think he had was Levi, but that was just a projection.
Eden on the other hand I feel like what’s not talked about her is her main flaw of being “weak” and relying on others.
Examples:
▪️Ep 9 when Eden says “Teruko! Back me up!” “You’re smart and you always know what evidence to use during the class trial so find a way to show everyone they’re wrong about Arei!” “Please! I’m relying on you!”
▪️Ep 10 when Eden says “If I was strong enough…If I didn’t need Arei to help me…” and Arei saying “Just as I thought, you’re pathetic and weak, and you always need to rely on others to get by”
In a sense, this parallels Nico who attempted to murk Ace because others had to pick up their battle and Ace called them weak for not being able to stand up for themselves. Eden for all we know might’ve gone through the same thing when Arei yelled at her and it resulted in her planning Arei’s demise. Like Nico, she probably regrets it now. But unlike them, Eden isn’t admitting to this flaw of being the cause of this situation and is trying to rely on others like Teruko to defend her from being accused of Arei’s murder. Even down to doing the same hug that Min did to Teruko previous chapter.
Another point to add is that with the previous points showing a bit of Eden showing guilt. I can possible see her main motive of killing Arei is because of not believing her at the time. Even Arei notes this in ep10
Arei: That look you’re giving me…You don’t believe me, do you? Figures.
Arei: I’ve been so shitty and manipulative this whole time. It’s only fair that you think I’m only putting on another fake act to make people like me.
Tumblr media
Ultimately to fit what Arei said even someone as sickeningly sweet as Eden had done something bad, which makes her human. Eden I feel has to be the culprit as what would Ace fit in this? It would just feel like Arei’s words meant nothing and Ace was the irredeemable jerk the whole time who “got what he deserved” despite not having anyone to reach out to him like David did for Arei.
Hooboy that was long. Like I say this may not be perfect in terms of defense of Ace and might not fully cement Eden as the culprit. For all we know, there could be a secret third option. Plus there still isn’t a full explanation for some parts like how both parties got the turpentine or Eden’s stalker(tbh tho I could just see her being paranoid it’s Arturo and Bro is stalking J so). But I just wanted to share my piece as I think part 2 of ch.2 did make me see Ace in a different light and Eden too, to where I wanted to at least give Ace a defense the best I could because he doesn’t have anyone on his side. Along with highlight parts of Eden’s character I feel needs adjust for why she could be the culprit. Anyway, might make more post stuff on analyzing Ace or other parts of the case. If you have any thoughts, share them! As long we’re all civil and just having fun with this tragically emotional case, I’m happy to hear others' thoughts on who dunnit. Thanks for reading!^^

Flames Ignited. Leon X F!Reader
You go to a bar after a mission to unwind and you see Leon, who catches your eye.
Tumblr media
author: i made this really long and tried to add as much detail into it and make it as realistic as possible. minus a couple of surprises! i appreciate comments too along with all the reposts!
FLUFF, some smut, talks of drinking, dates, (redacted) ;) 14.9K words! 18++
You walked into the dimly lit bar, the sound of glasses clinking and people chatting filling your ears. It had been a long day, and you were looking to unwind a little. The bar itself was a cozy little place, with warm wood paneling and flickering candles on every table. The smell of roasted nuts and spicy cocktails filled the air, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. You remember feeling a little out of place when you first walked in, still dressed in your combat gear from the mission. But as soon as Leon's eyes met yours, you felt a sense of ease wash over you. As you approached the bar, you noticed a man sitting at the end of it, nursing a drink. He looked up as you approached, and your eyes met. There was something in his gaze that made your heart skip a beat.
"Can I buy you a drink?" he asked, a charming smile on his lips.
You smiled back, feeling a thrill of excitement course through you. "Sure, I'd like that."
The two of you struck up a conversation, and before long, you were laughing and flirting like old friends. The chemistry between you was undeniable, and it wasn't long before you found yourselves lost in each other's eyes.
As you talked, you realized that you both worked for the same type of job, but in different departments. You couldn't help but feel a little surprised, but also thrilled that you had found someone who understood the demands and dangers of the job.
"So, what kind of missions have you been on lately?" Leon asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"Oh, just the usual stuff," you replied nonchalantly, not wanting to give away too much. "What about you?"
"I've been sent on a few solo missions, but my last one was a team effort. We had to infiltrate a high-security building and retrieve some important documents. It was pretty intense, but we managed to pull it off."
You were impressed, and couldn't help but feel a little envious. "That sounds exciting. I haven't been on a team mission in a while."
"Well, if you ever need a partner, I'm always up for it," Leon said with a sly grin.
You laughed, feeling a spark of attraction between you. "I'll keep that in mind."
As the night wore on, the two of you continued to flirt and exchange stories. It felt like you had known each other for years, and the connection between you only grew stronger.
Eventually, Leon leaned in close and whispered in your ear, "You know, I can't stop thinking about you. I don't want this night to end."
Your heart skipped a beat, and you felt a rush of desire wash over you. "I don't want it to end either," you replied, your voice husky with emotion.
The two of you shared passionate kiss, the heat between you intensifying with every passing moment. You feel his rough hands cup your cheek, your hand moves to rest on his chest. His lips felt soft against your own, making you want more of him. As you pulled away, you couldn't help but feel like this was the start of something special.
Leon's hand trailed down from your cheek to your neck, his fingers lightly grazing your skin as he leaned in to whisper in your ear. "You know, (Y/N), I have a feeling we might have more in common than just our love for a good drink."
You raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh really? Do tell."
He chuckled, the sound sending shivers down your spine. "I happen to work for a certain organization that handles some pretty top-secret missions. And I have a feeling that you might just work for the same company."
Your eyes widened in surprise. "No way. That's crazy."
Leon grinned, looking pleased with himself. "I thought you might say that. Let me buy you another drink, and we can talk more about it."
The two of you continued your conversation, talking about your experiences on various missions and sharing stories of near-misses and narrow escapes. You found that you worked well together, and before you knew it, you were throwing flirty lines at each other and making plans to work together on your next mission.
As the night wore on, you found yourselves lost in each other's company, and when it was time to leave, Leon walked you to your car. As he leaned in to kiss you goodbye, he whispered, "I can't wait to see what kind of mission we'll get sent on next."
You grinned, feeling the same excitement that he did. "Me too. And who knows, maybe we'll end up working on it together again."
The next day, you received a call from your boss, informing you that you were being sent on a mission. As you packed your bags, your mind kept drifting back to the night you had spent with Leon. You couldn't help but wonder if you would see him again.
When you arrived at the location for the mission, you were surprised to see Leon waiting for you. It turned out that you both worked for the same company, and you were being sent on the same mission. The two of you couldn't help but exchange a knowing look, the sparks still flying between you.
As you worked together on the mission, you found that your chemistry only grew stronger. You worked seamlessly together, anticipating each other's moves and finishing each other's sentences. There were moments of danger and tension, but you always had each other's back.
It was a high-stakes operation, one that required you and Leon to work closely together to achieve success. You were tasked with infiltrating a heavily guarded facility, and the two of you spent weeks planning and preparing for the mission.
Finally, the day arrived, and you and Leon found yourselves crouched behind a dumpster outside the facility. Your hearts were pounding with adrenaline as you checked your equipment one last time and exchanged a look.
"Ready?" Leon whispered.
"Ready," you replied, feeling a surge of excitement and fear.
You both made your way stealthily through the facility, avoiding guards and security cameras as you went. The tension was palpable as you approached your objective, and you could feel your heart racing in your chest.
Suddenly, you heard a loud alarm go off, and you knew that you had been made. Without hesitation, you and Leon sprang into action, taking out guards and clearing a path to your objective.
As you worked your way deeper into the facility, you encountered unexpected resistance. The guards were better trained and better equipped than you had anticipated, and you found yourselves engaged in a fierce firefight.
Despite the danger and chaos around you, you and Leon worked together seamlessly. Your movements were fluid and synchronized, and you were able to take out the guards one by one.
Finally, you reached your objective, and you quickly completed your mission before making your escape. As you fled the facility, you felt a rush of triumph and relief, knowing that you and Leon had succeeded against all odds.
The two of you collapsed against a wall, catching your breath and grinning at each other. You felt a sense of pride and accomplishment wash over you as you caught your breath. You and Leon worked seamlessly together. You moved like a well-oiled machine, anticipating each other's moves and working in perfect harmony. The danger of the mission was palpable, and the adrenaline rush was intense. The air was thick with tension as you navigated through the enemy territory, moving stealthily and silently.
As you finally reached your objective, you both let out a sigh of relief. However, your joy was short-lived as you suddenly found yourselves surrounded by enemy soldiers. The two of you fought fiercely, back to back, taking out the enemy one by one. The fight was intense, and it seemed as though the odds were stacked against you.
But you and Leon fought on, never giving up, even when it seemed like all was lost. The two of you moved like a well-oiled machine, each anticipating the other's moves, and together, you overpowered the enemy. As the last enemy soldier fell to the ground, you and Leon looked at each other, panting heavily. The relief was evident on your faces, but there was also a sense of satisfaction and pride at a job well done.
Exhausted and covered in sweat, you and Leon exchanged a look of triumph. The mission was a success, and you had made it out alive.
That night, as you sat by the campfire, Leon handed you a cup of hot coffee, his eyes twinkling with warmth and admiration. You couldn't help but feel a flutter in your heart as he sat down next to you.
"Great job today," he said, a smile playing on his lips.
You smiled back, feeling a sense of camaraderie and connection with him that was hard to explain. "You too, Leon. We make a great team."
Leon looks up at the stars that are shining with a newfound beauty. "Tomorrow we will go to the extraction site. Tonight lets celebrate." He glances back over to you, his eyes showing a playful yet mischievous glint to them.
You couldn't help but smile at his playful expression, feeling a sense of relief wash over you at the thought of the mission being over. "Sounds like a plan," you replied, feeling grateful for the chance to unwind after the intense mission.
Leon led you to a nearby clearing, where a small campfire was already burning brightly. He had set up a makeshift table with a blanket on the ground, and there was a bottle of wine and two glasses waiting for you. You took a seat across from him, feeling your heart race as he poured you a glass of wine.
As you sipped your drink and enjoyed the warmth of the fire, Leon regaled you with stories of his past missions. You listened intently, hanging on his every word, feeling drawn to him more and more. You found yourself sharing stories of your own, opening up to him in a way that you hadn't with anyone else.
The night wore on, the two of you lost in conversation and laughter. The stars twinkled above you, and the sound of crickets filled the air. You felt a sense of peace and contentment that you hadn't felt in a long time.
As the fire died down, Leon stood up and held out his hand. "Dance with me," he said, a soft smile on his lips.
You took his hand, feeling his warmth seep into your skin. You moved together, swaying to the music in perfect harmony. His hands rested on your waist, and you felt a surge of desire run through you at his touch. You looked up into his eyes, seeing the same desire mirrored back at you.
The night passed by in a blur of dancing, laughter, and conversation. You couldn't believe how easy it was to be around Leon, how comfortable he made you feel. As the sun began to rise, you both knew it was time to leave the peaceful sanctuary of the clearing and return to reality.
But as you walked away, hand in hand with Leon, you couldn't help but feel like this was just the beginning of something special.
The next day, you and Leon made your way to the extraction site, both feeling a sense of relief that the mission was over. The two of you walked side by side, sharing stories and jokes, the tension from the previous night completely gone.
As you arrived at the extraction site, you saw the helicopter waiting for you, its rotors spinning in anticipation. You climbed aboard, feeling the rush of excitement as you took off into the air. You couldn't help but smile as you looked over at Leon, feeling grateful that you had such an amazing partner to work with. As you sat in the helicopter, flying back to headquarters, you found yourself thinking about what the future held for the two of you.
As the helicopter soared through the sky, you watched as the terrain below shifted and changed, the scenery becoming more and more familiar. Before you knew it, you had arrived back at the headquarters of your company.
Once you were back at headquarters, you and Leon debriefed with your superiors, discussing the details of the mission and what had transpired. The rest of the day was a blur of paperwork and debriefings, but you couldn't help but feel a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction at a job well done. You and Leon had worked together seamlessly, and it showed in the successful outcome of the mission.
As the sun began to set, you and Leon found yourselves alone in the break room. The tension between you was still palpable, and you couldn't help but wonder what might happen between you. As you both reached for the coffee pot at the same time, your hands brushed against each other, sending shivers down your spine.
"Hey," Leon said, his voice low and husky. "I know we've got a lot of work to do, but do you want to grab dinner tonight?"
You felt a flutter of excitement in your chest as you looked into his eyes. "I'd like that," you said, unable to hide the smile on your face.
As you left the break room, hand in hand with Leon, you couldn't help but feel like the future was full of endless possibilities.
As the helicopter soared through the sky, you watched as the terrain below shifted and changed, the scenery becoming more and more familiar. Before you knew it, you had arrived back at the headquarters of your company.
As the day drew to a close, you and Leon made your way out of the building, both feeling a sense of exhaustion but also elation at the successful completion of the mission. The two of you shared a knowing smile, the kind that only comes from experiencing something intense and life-changing together.
As you walked out into the fresh air, the sun setting behind you, Leon turned to you and said, "I couldn't have done it without you."
You smiled back at him, feeling a rush of warmth and affection. "Likewise," you replied, feeling grateful for the bond that the two of you had formed.
The two of you parted ways, promising to keep in touch and work together again in the future. As you walked away, you couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation for the next adventure that the two of you would embark on together.
The next day, you woke up feeling energized and refreshed, despite the previous night's mission. You checked your phone and saw a message from Leon, asking if you were free that evening. Your heart skipped a beat as you realized that he was asking you out on a date.
You quickly replied that you were free, and he suggested that you meet at a trendy new restaurant in the city. You spent the day getting ready, trying on different outfits and experimenting with your makeup until you found the perfect look. You stood in front of your full-length mirror, taking one final look at your outfit for the evening. The velvet black dress clung to your curves in all the right places, the slit teasingly revealing just enough of your toned legs. You paired the dress with a pair of sleek black heels that elongated your legs even further.
As you turned to the side, you couldn't help but admire the way the dress flattered your figure. It was classy yet alluring, the perfect combination for a date with Leon.
You spent the better part of the afternoon experimenting with your makeup, wanting to create a look that was both sophisticated and sultry. You settled on a subtle smokey eye, using shades of taupe and black to accentuate your eyes. Your lips were coated in a deep red lipstick, adding just the right amount of drama to your overall look.
As you stepped out of your apartment, you felt a surge of confidence wash over you. You knew that you looked amazing, and you couldn't wait to see the look on Leon's face when he saw you.
The restaurant itself was a sight to behold. The walls were adorned with vibrant murals and paintings, and soft jazz music filled the air. The dim lighting created an intimate atmosphere, making it the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. When you arrived at the restaurant, you saw Leon waiting for you at a cozy table in the corner. He looked dashing in his suit and tie, and you couldn't help but feel a little nervous as you approached him.
"Hi," you said, trying to keep your cool as you went to sit down before Leon stopped you and pulled out your chair for you. "Thank you handsome."
"Hi," he replied with a smile. "You look beautiful."
As you perused the menu, your mouth watered at the descriptions of the gourmet dishes. From the seared scallops to the perfectly cooked filet mignon, every dish sounded like a work of art.
When the food arrived, you were not disappointed. The flavors were rich and complex, each bite a tantalizing combination of tastes and textures. You and Leon shared the dishes, each sampling a bit of everything and savoring the flavors together.
The wine selection was equally impressive, and you found yourself entranced by the sommelier's descriptions of the different vintages. You and Leon shared a bottle of a smooth, full-bodied red that paired perfectly with the meal.
As the night wore on, the restaurant became more and more alive. The soft buzz of conversation and laughter filled the air, and you could feel the energy of the room building. Yet despite the lively atmosphere, you and Leon were lost in your own world, enjoying each other's company and the moment.
As dinner came to a close, Leon leaned in close to you, his eyes sparkling with a mix of playfulness and desire. "I had a wonderful time tonight," he said, his voice low and husky. "Would you like to do this again sometime?"
You felt a thrill of excitement run through you at his words, and you couldn't help but nod eagerly. "I would love that," you replied, your heart racing with anticipation.
The two of you parted ways that night, but you couldn't stop thinking about Leon and the amazing time you had together. You knew that this was the start of something special, and you couldn't wait to see where your relationship with him would take you next.
As you walked out of the restaurant, you couldn't help but feel like you were walking on clouds. The night had been magical, from the delicious food to the intimate atmosphere, but most of all, because of Leon. His charm and wit had left you spellbound, and you knew that you wanted to see him again soon.
As you stood outside the restaurant, Leon turned to you and took your hand, sending shivers down your spine. He gazed into your eyes, and you felt as though he could see into your very soul.
"I had a wonderful time tonight," he repeated, his voice low and husky. "You're amazing, and I can't wait to see you again."
You felt your heart skip a beat at his words, and you couldn't help but smile from ear to ear. "I feel the same way," you replied, your voice filled with warmth and affection.
The night air was cool and crisp, but you hardly noticed as you stood there, lost in the moment with Leon. You felt as though you were in a fairy tale, and you couldn't wait to see where this story would take you next.
As you walked home from the date, you couldn't help but replay the evening in your mind, every detail still fresh in your memory. The way the candlelight flickered and danced across Leon's face, the sound of his laughter ringing in your ears, the warmth of his hand as he guided you through the restaurant - it was all so surreal, like something out of a movie.
The city around you seemed to glow with a new light, as if the world had shifted and everything was different now that you had experienced such an incredible night. You walked with a sense of purpose, your steps light and buoyant, as if you were floating on air.
As you turned the corner onto your street, you saw a shooting star streak across the sky, and you couldn't help but smile, feeling like the universe was somehow in alignment with your newfound happiness.
As you turned the key in the lock, the door creaked open to reveal the cozy interior of your house. The familiar scent of your favorite candles mingled with the aroma of fresh flowers, making you feel at home in an instant. You stepped into the foyer, where the soft glow of the chandelier illuminated the walls adorned with family photos and artwork.
Walking past the hallway, you peered into the kitchen, which was still and quiet, with pots and pans stacked neatly in the sink. The air was filled with the sweet aroma of the rose bouquet that you had left on the kitchen table earlier that day. You smiled to yourself, realizing that the night was not yet over, and you had plenty of time to relive every moment of your unforgettable date with Leon.
As you entered the living room, you sunk into the plush cushions of your sofa, surrounded by soft blankets and pillows. The room was dimly lit, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. You stretched your legs out in front of you, the silky fabric of your dress brushing against your skin.
You closed your eyes, replaying the night's events in your head like a movie, savoring every detail of Leon's touch and every word he spoke. The feeling of his hand in yours was still fresh, and his husky voice echoed in your ears. You felt a shiver run down your spine, and you knew that you were falling for him more with each passing moment.
As you opened your eyes, you gazed up at the ceiling, feeling content and happy in your own home. You knew that the memories of this evening would be etched in your mind forever, and you couldn't wait to see where your relationship with Leon would take you next.
You leaned back into the cushions and closed your eyes, feeling the weight of the day slowly lifting off your shoulders. The thoughts of Leon and the amazing night you had together were still fresh in your mind, and you couldn't help but replay every moment in your head.
You reached for your phone to see if he had messaged you, but there was nothing new. A small twinge of disappointment hit you, but you quickly brushed it off, telling yourself that he was probably just as tired as you were.
As you lay there, you thought about all the possibilities that lay ahead, and a wave of excitement washed over you. What if this was the start of something truly amazing? What if Leon was the one you had been waiting for all this time?
The uncertainty of it all was both exhilarating and nerve-wracking. You knew that there were no guarantees when it came to matters of the heart, but you felt confident that whatever happened, you were ready to face it head-on.
After a few minutes, you got up from the couch and made your way to the kitchen. You poured yourself a glass of water and took a sip, the cool liquid soothing your parched throat. As you stood there, you gazed out the window at the cityscape, the twinkling lights of the buildings stretching out as far as the eye could see.
You felt a sense of gratitude wash over you, for all the wonderful things that had happened in your life up to this point, and for the endless possibilities that lay ahead. And with Leon by your side, you knew that the future was looking brighter than ever.
You took another sip of water and made your way to the bedroom.
As you walked towards your bedroom, you took in the comforting details of your home: the framed photos of your loved ones on the wall, the cozy blankets draped over the back of your armchair, and the soft glow of the bedside lamp. You changed into your pajamas and crawled into bed, still buzzing with excitement from the night's events. You closed your eyes and let out a deep sigh, replaying every moment with Leon in your mind, feeling a sense of contentment wash over you as you slipped under the covers. You closed your eyes, feeling the warmth and safety of your home surrounding you, and drifted off into a peaceful slumber, your dreams filled with visions of all the adventures that lay ahead.
The next morning, you woke up to the sun streaming in through your window, casting a warm glow across your room. You stretched and smiled to yourself, feeling grateful for the amazing night you had with Leon and the comfortable home that surrounded you.
As you got ready for the day ahead, you felt a sense of excitement bubbling up inside you. You knew that the journey ahead might not always be easy, but with Leon by your side and your cozy home to return to, you were ready to take on anything.
As you finished your breakfast and got ready for work, your mind still buzzed with the excitement and possibilities of the previous night. You dressed with a renewed sense of confidence, feeling as though you could take on the world with the memory of Leon's touch still fresh in your mind.
As you got into your car and started driving to work, the morning sun rose steadily over the horizon, casting a warm glow over everything in its path. You felt the cool breeze on your face as you drove, your windows down, the sweet scent of blooming flowers wafting in through the open windows.
You couldn't help but smile as you thought about the night before, replaying every moment in your mind. The way Leon's eyes had locked onto yours when he spoke, the gentle touch of his hand on the small of your back, the way his lips had felt on yours when he kissed you goodnight - it was all still so vivid and fresh in your memory.
As you pulled into the parking lot of your workplace, you took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement and apprehension. You knew that the day ahead would be busy and full of tasks to complete, but you felt ready to face anything that came your way, fueled by the memory of the amazing night before.
You stepped out of your car and walked towards the entrance of your workplace, your heels clicking against the pavement. The world seemed to hum with a new energy, as if anything was possible now that you had experienced such a magical night.
As you walked through the halls of your workplace, you felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination. You knew that with Leon by your side, you could tackle anything that came your way, and that the possibilities for your future together were endless.
As you walked into the break room, you couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. You had been looking forward to seeing Leon all morning, and the thought of being able to spend some time with him during your break was enough to make your heart skip a beat.
As you scanned the room, your eyes landed on Leon, who was standing near the coffee machine, his back to you. You took a moment to appreciate the way he looked in his crisp white shirt and navy blue blazer, his hair styled perfectly as usual.
"Good morning," he said, turning around as he heard you approach. "You look stunning today."
You felt your cheeks heat up at his compliment, but you couldn't help but smile in response. "Thank you," you replied, feeling a surge of happiness at the sight of him.
The two of you chatted for a while, catching up on each other's weekends and sharing stories from your personal lives. You couldn't help but feel a sense of ease and comfort when you were with Leon, like you had known him for years instead of just a few short weeks.
As your break came to a close, Leon gave you a warm smile. "I'm looking forward to our date in two weeks," he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "I know just the perfect place for it."
You felt a thrill of anticipation at his words, unable to wait to see what the evening had in store for the two of you. "Me too," you replied, feeling your heart skip a beat at the thought of spending more time with him.
As you walked back to your desk, you couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected twist that had brought Leon into your life. You knew that whatever the future held, you were excited to face it with him.
The rest of the workday passed by in a blur as you eagerly anticipated your next date with Leon. When the clock finally struck five, you practically ran out of the office and hopped into your car, your mind already racing with possibilities for the evening.
As you drove home, you couldn't help but replay the events of your last date in your mind, reliving each moment in vivid detail. The way Leon had looked at you, the sound of his voice, the way his hand had felt in yours - it all felt like a dream.
When you arrived home, you quickly changed into a cute and casual outfit that you knew Leon would appreciate. You applied just the right amount of makeup to accentuate your features, and took one last glance in the mirror before heading out the door.
A few weeks pass and each day he wasn't at work, you noticed you missed his presence. But before you knew it the week was coming to an end and the next one was starting.
As you entered the building where your office was located, you spotted Leon waiting for you in the break room. He was wearing a sleek black suit that hugged his toned body in all the right places, his tie a deep shade of blue that brought out the color of his eyes. He looked like something straight out of a magazine, and you couldn't help but feel a flutter of excitement in your stomach.
"Hey," he said as you approached, his smile widening at the sight of you. "You look amazing as always."
You blushed at the compliment, feeling a rush of warmth spread through you. "Thank you," you replied, feeling a little tongue-tied in his presence.
The two of you chatted for a few minutes, catching up on the latest office gossip and sharing stories about your week. It was easy to talk to Leon, his playful sense of humor and genuine interest in your life putting you at ease.
As your break came to a close once more, Leon gave you another warm smile. "I'm looking forward to our date next week," he said, his eyes sparkling with excitement just like the first time.
The rest of the workday seemed to fly by as you couldn't stop thinking about the upcoming date with Leon. You were eager to find out more about the surprise location he had in mind and couldn't wait to see him again.
As the day drew to a close, you packed up your belongings and headed out of the office building, the fresh air and sunlight of the early evening feeling invigorating after a long day of work.
You decided to take a detour on your way home, stopping at a nearby park to enjoy the scenery and clear your mind. The leaves on the trees rustled softly in the breeze, and the sun cast a warm glow over everything around you.
As you wandered through the park, your phone buzzed in your pocket. You took it out to see a message from Leon, and your heart skipped a beat as you read it.
"Hey there, just wanted to check in and see how your day was. Thinking of you. Can't wait to see you next week."
You couldn't help but smile at his thoughtfulness and the excitement that his message brought you. You quickly typed out a response, telling him about your day and how much you were looking forward to seeing him again.
Feeling energized and content, you continued your walk through the park, taking in the beauty of the surroundings and feeling grateful for the unexpected turn your life had taken. As you made your way back to your car, you couldn't help but feel that everything felt brighter with him in your life now.
You couldn't wait to spend more time with Leon, and the anticipation only grew as the days passed. Finally, the night of your date arrived, and you found yourself carefully selecting the perfect outfit and putting the finishing touches on your makeup. You decided on wearing a stunning black cocktail dress that hugged your curves in all the right places, paired with a pair of strappy heels that made your legs look miles long. Your hair was styled in soft waves that cascaded down your shoulders, framing your face perfectly. Your makeup was light enough to look somewhat natural, your lips a soft rose color.
As you stepped out of your car and made your way towards the restaurant, you caught sight of Leon waiting for you outside, looking handsome and dashing, wearing a perfectly tailored charcoal gray suit that fit him like a glove, paired with a crisp white shirt and a dark silk tie. He looked every bit the handsome and sophisticated gentleman, and you couldn't help but feel a little intimidated by his impeccable style. His eyes lit up as he saw you, and he stepped forward to greet you with a warm embrace.
The restaurant was dimly lit, with soft music playing in the background and candles flickering on the tables. You and Leon were seated at a cozy booth, and you couldn't help but feel a sense of intimacy as you chatted and laughed together.
The food was delicious, each dish more exquisite than the last, and you savored every bite. But the real highlight of the evening was the company, as you found yourself completely engrossed in conversation with Leon, his wit and charm captivating you at every turn.
But as the evening wore on, you found that Leon's charm and warmth put you at ease, and you were able to relax and enjoy the moment. The conversation flowed easily between the two of you, and you found yourself laughing and joking like you had known each other for years.
After dinner, you took a leisurely stroll through the city streets, hand in hand, taking in the sights and sounds around you. The world seemed to slow down as you walked, lost in your own little world.
As the night drew to a close, Leon took you by the hand and led you to a quiet spot by the river. The stars twinkled above you as he leaned in to kiss you, his lips soft and gentle against yours. It was a moment of pure magic, and you knew that this was only the beginning of a beautiful journey together. As the night drew on, you felt a sense of longing as you said goodbye to Leon, not wanting the evening to end. But as he leaned in to kiss you again, you felt a sense of reassurance that this was only the beginning of something special.
As you made your way back to your car, you couldn't help but feel a sense of joy and gratitude for the amazing night you had shared with Leon. You knew that there would be many more adventures to come, and you felt excited and ready to face them all, hand in hand with the person who had captured your heart. Driving home, you couldn't help but replay the evening in your mind, smiling to yourself as you relived every moment. You felt grateful for the unexpected twist that had brought Leon into your life, and you knew that this was only the beginning of an incredible journey together.
Once you made your way inside your apartment, you couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement still lingering from your amazing date with Leon. You slipped off your heels by the door, setting them carefully down before grabbing your phone.
Just as you were about to put it away, a notification popped up from Leon, asking if he could stop by your house for a moment. He explained that he had forgotten something important to tell you on the date, and he didn't want to wait any longer.
You couldn't help but feel a twinge of curiosity at his message, wondering what it could be that he forgot to mention during your wonderful evening together. You quickly replied, telling him that he was welcome to stop by.
A few minutes later, you heard a soft knock at the door, and you quickly made your way to answer it. There stood Leon, looking as handsome as ever, a small smile on his face.
"Hey," he said softly. "I'm sorry to bother you so late, but I had to tell you something. Can I come in?"
You nodded, stepping back to allow him into your cozy apartment. You couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness as he followed you to the living room, taking a seat on the couch beside you.
"I know this might sound a little crazy," he began, his eyes locking with yours. "But I just wanted to tell you that I think I'm falling in love with you."
Your heart skipped a beat at his words, the world seeming to slow down as you processed what he had just said. You looked at him, taking in the sincerity in his eyes and the vulnerability in his voice, and you knew that he meant every word.
Tears welled up in your eyes as you took his hand in yours, feeling a rush of emotion wash over you. "I think I'm falling in love with you too," you whispered, feeling your heart swell with joy. "I just wasn't sure how I should tell you."
Leon's face lit up with a wide smile as he heard your words. "You don't have to say anything else," he said, pulling you in for a tight embrace. "I'm just happy to know that we feel the same way."
You spent the rest of the night wrapped up in each other's arms, talking and laughing and reveling in the joy of your newfound love. As the hours slipped by, you knew that this was only the beginning of an amazing journey together. "Hey, (Y/N)?" Leon looks down at you in his arms.
You look back up at him with a loving smile. "Yes?"
"Would you like to become officially Boyfriend and Girlfriend? " He looks nervous asking you, but he smiles through his anxiety.
"Yes!"
The following days and weeks were filled with endless adventures, from lazy Sunday mornings spent cuddling in bed to spontaneous road trips to far-off destinations. You found yourself falling more deeply in love with Leon with each passing day, and it seemed that he felt the same way.
As your relationship continued to blossom, you couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected twist of fate that had brought Leon into your life. He was everything you had ever wanted in a partner and more, and you felt a deep sense of contentment whenever you were with him.
Together, you explored new hobbies and interests, from cooking gourmet meals together to hiking in the mountains. You supported each other through difficult times, and celebrated each other's triumphs with joy and enthusiasm. Your love only grew stronger with each passing day, and you knew that this was the real deal.
One day, as you were out on a hike together, Leon turned to you with a serious look in his eyes. "There's something I need to ask you," he said, taking your hand in his.
Your heart raced with anticipation as you looked up at him, waiting for him to continue.
"Will you marry me?" he asked, as he knelt on his knee. Pulling out a small velvet box from his pocket to reveal a beautiful diamond ring. The ring itself is a stunning piece of jewelry, made of white silver and adorned with a large sparkling diamond in the center. The diamond is cut in a classic round shape and glitters brilliantly in the light, catching your eye from across the room. The band itself is sleek and modern, with a minimalist design that complements the elegance of the diamond perfectly. The overall effect is breathtakingly beautiful, and you can't help but feel a sense of awe every time you catch a glimpse of it on your finger.
Tears streamed down your face as you nodded your head, unable to speak as you threw your arms around him in a tight embrace. It was the happiest moment of your life, and you knew that there was no one else in the world you would rather spend the rest of your life and work missions with.
As you walked hand in hand back down the mountain, you couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected journey that had led you to this moment. Life was full of surprises, and you knew that with Leon. He shown you life was beautiful.
The next day, as you walked into the break room to grab a cup of coffee, you noticed Chris, one of your colleagues, waving you over. "Hey, congratulations!" he said with a big smile on his face.
You felt your cheeks flush as you realized that the news of your engagement had already made its way around the office. "Thanks, Chris," you replied, feeling a little self-conscious. "I appreciate it."
"I'm so happy for you both," he continued, clapping Leon on the back as he walked into the room. "You two make a great team, both at work and in life. Plus (Y/N) Kennedy has a perfect ring to it."
"Thanks, man," Leon replied, beaming with pride as he looked down at you. "I couldn't agree more."
You spent the next few minutes chatting with Chris and a few other coworkers about your engagement, sharing the story of how Leon had proposed and showing off your beautiful ring. It was a heartwarming moment, and you felt overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from your colleagues. It was rare in the line of work you all shared to have happiness like you and Leon shared.
As you left the break room and headed back to your desk, you couldn't help but feel grateful for the wonderful people you worked with. They were more than just colleagues; they were friends and family, and you knew that they would be there for you every step of the way as you embarked on this new chapter of your life.
Leon and you had a brief moment to celebrate your engagement before you were summoned by your boss, who had just received news of a critical mission that required your team's expertise. It was a delicate operation, with high stakes and potential danger, but as always, you were ready for the challenge.
You and Leon quickly gathered your gear and headed to the briefing room, where your team leader outlined the mission's objectives and the plan of action. You and Leon were tasked with infiltrating a high-security facility to obtain sensitive information that could potentially save countless lives.
The mission was intense and nerve-wracking, but you and Leon worked seamlessly together, each of you relying on the other's strength and skill to navigate the dangerous terrain. As the hours ticked by, you found yourself more and more grateful for the training and experience that had brought you to this point, and for the unwavering support of your teammates.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, you and Leon emerged from the facility victorious, the information you had obtained safely in hand. As you debriefed with your team leader and exchanged high-fives with your colleagues, you couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment.
Although the mission had delayed your wedding planning, you knew that there would always be more missions to undertake, and you were happy to share the excitement and adrenaline of the work with the love of your life.
As you and Leon made your way back to the base in the helicopter, you couldn't help but feel excited at the prospect of planning your wedding. You turned to Leon with a grin, "I can't believe we're engaged! We need to start planning the wedding!"
Leon smiled back at you, "I know! I was thinking we could have it on the beach, maybe in Hawaii. What do you think?"
You nodded eagerly, "That sounds perfect! And maybe we can have a small, intimate ceremony with just close family and friends."
As you continued to discuss your wedding plans, Chris, who was piloting the helicopter, chimed in, "Hey, if you need any help planning or organizing, let me know. I have some great contacts and can even help with the catering."
You and Leon exchanged a glance and smiled gratefully. "That would be amazing, Chris! Thank you so much," you said, feeling a weight lifted off your shoulders. Planning a wedding was a daunting task, and any help was greatly appreciated.
Leon nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we could definitely use some help. We want to make it a special day, but we're both pretty new to all of this," he said, squeezing your hand reassuringly.
Chris laughed. "Don't worry, I've got you covered. I'll make a few calls and see what I can do. And of course, I'll be there to celebrate with you both on the big day!" he said, grinning.
You couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards Chris. He had always been a supportive colleague, and now he was going above and beyond to help make your wedding day special. You knew that with him on your team, the planning process would be so much smoother.
As you gazed out the window of the helicopter, you felt a sudden wave of inspiration wash over you. The breathtaking view of the sun setting over the horizon was a stunning sight, with its warm hues of pink and orange painting the sky like a masterpiece. It was as if the beauty of the world was aligning with the beauty of your love for Leon.
You turned to him with a smile, feeling your heart swell with happiness. "I can't wait for our wedding day," you said, your voice filled with excitement.
"I know," Leon replied, taking your hand in his. "It's going to be perfect."
Chris chuckled from the cockpit, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You guys are so cute," he said, teasingly.
You laughed along with him, feeling grateful for his lightheartedness. It was a welcome respite from the high-stress situations you all faced at work.
"So, have you guys thought about the venue yet?" Chris asked, turning towards you both.
You shook your head, "Not really. We were thinking something simple and elegant, maybe a garden or a beach. We want to keep it small and intimate."
Chris nodded thoughtfully, "I know of a few places that might be perfect for what you're looking for. I'll send over some options to you guys later tonight."
You thanked him, feeling relieved to have someone with his experience and expertise to guide you through the wedding planning process. It was a weight off your shoulders to know that you had his support and guidance every step of the way.
As the helicopter began its descent, you leaned your head against Leon's shoulder, feeling content and at peace. You knew that the journey ahead of you wouldn't always be easy, but with your love for each other and the support of your friends and colleagues, you were ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
The rest of the flight back to the base was filled with excitement and planning as you discussed every detail of your dream wedding. You couldn't wait to start making arrangements and turning your vision into a reality. It was going to be a beautiful day, and you knew that with the help of your colleagues and, most importantly, Leon, it would be the perfect celebration of your love.
As the helicopter landed back at the base, you and Leon exchanged a kiss before climbing out of the aircraft. Chris gave you both a wave before taking off again, and you knew that the next few weeks were going to be filled with wedding planning and excitement.
You turned to Leon and grinned. "I can't believe we're really getting married," you said, feeling a surge of happiness.
"I know, it's crazy," he said, wrapping an arm around you. "But it's the good kind of crazy."
You smiled and leaned into him, feeling a sense of peace and contentment. No matter what the future held, you knew that you and Leon were in it together.
As you made your way back to your quarters, your mind buzzed with excitement as you mentally planned out every detail of your special day. You couldn't wait to start looking at venues, picking out dresses, and tasting different cakes and appetizers. Everything had to be perfect, and with the help of Chris and your colleagues, you were sure that it would be.
Leon squeezed your hand as you walked, and you looked up at him, feeling your heart swell with love. He was the one you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, and you couldn't wait to start this new chapter together.
As you arrived at your apartment, you settled in on the couch, ready to dive headfirst into planning. Leon grabbed his laptop from his overnight bag, and together you began scouring the internet for venues, photographers, and florists.
Hours passed in a blur as you sifted through countless options, each one more beautiful than the last. You debated over color schemes, seating arrangements, and centerpiece options, and even discussed potential honeymoon destinations.
Just as you were about to call it a night, Chris sent you a text message with the contact information of a highly recommended wedding planner. You smiled gratefully, feeling a sense of relief knowing that you had even more support for your big day.
As you crawled into bed that night, exhausted but exhilarated from all the planning, you couldn't help but feel grateful for the amazing people in your life who were helping to make your dream wedding a reality. The bathroom light softly glowed into your bedroom as the sound running water filled the air. The bathroom door was opened up by a small crack allowing you to see your fiancé who was brushing his teeth, standing in just sweatpants in front of the mirror.
You couldn't help but admire how handsome he looked, with his strong jawline and chiseled features. As he finished brushing his teeth, he caught your eye in the reflection of the mirror and gave you a mischievous grin.
"What are you looking at?" he asked, jokingly raising an eyebrow.
"Just admiring the view," you replied, winking at him. "The one I'll always get to see."
He chuckled and walked over to the bed, climbing in next to you. The bed shifting with his weight. You snuggled up to him, feeling his warmth and the steady beat of his heart.
"I can't wait to marry you," he said, his voice filled with love. "but how about we destress from the day today before we sleep baby." He gently turns your head up to look deep into your eyes, his thumb gently resting on your chin.
"Me too," you replied, feeling tears prick at the corners of your eyes. "And that sounds nice."
He leaned in and kissed you gently, and you felt a rush of passion and love. As he leaned in to kiss you, you felt a familiar warmth spreading throughout your body. The way his lips touched yours was always gentle yet passionate, making your heart skip a beat every time. Your hands instinctively found their way to his hair, pulling him even closer to you as you deepened the kiss, his hands slowly glided down your body, you shivered with anticipation. The feeling of his touch was electrifying, sending waves of pleasure through your entire being. You couldn't help but let out a soft moan as he pulled you closer to him by your hips, his body pressed against yours in a way that felt both comforting and exciting.
You feel his lips travel down from your lips, leaving kisses down your chin to your neck as he gently rolls to pin you down to the bed. His lips never leaving your neck, which made you softly gasp at how he had you.
He continued to kiss his way down your neck, his hands exploring every inch of your body. You felt his fingers gently caress your skin, sending shivers down your spine. He knew just how to touch you to make you feel alive and loved, and you savored every moment of it.
As he made his way back up to your lips, you could feel the intensity of his desire for you. His eyes locked onto yours, and you knew in that moment that he was all yours. You ran your hands through his hair, pulling him closer to you as your lips met once again in a fiery embrace.
The two of you lost yourselves in the moment, the passion and desire between you growing with every passing second. The world faded away, and all that mattered was the love that you shared with each other. His hands pull off your shirt as slowly takes in how you look beneath him. His eyes wide as he realized you weren't wearing a bra underneath your shirt, your breast grabbing his full attention. Leon slowly leans down and takes your budded nipple into his mouth, softly sucking and flicking it with his tongue. You couldn't help but let out a pleasured groan.
You arched your back in response to his touch, feeling the warmth of his mouth on your skin. The sensation was overwhelming, and you felt your body respond in ways that surprised even you. Your fingers traced patterns over his back, feeling the muscles tense and relax under your touch. The world had faded away, and the only thing that mattered was the love and desire that you shared with each other.
Leon's lips continued to work their magic on your body, leaving a trail of kisses down your chest and stomach. You couldn't help but feel a sense of vulnerability and intimacy with him, knowing that he was exploring every inch of your body with his lips and tongue. The feeling was almost too much to handle, but you didn't want it to end.
As he moved his lips back up to yours, you could taste the sweetness of his desire on his lips. His hands pulling off your shorts as he stays kissing you. He breaks the kiss to gently toss your shorts off the side of the bed before he stood up and took off his sweat pants. His bulge was huge underneath his boxers. You felt your core grow more wet with desire for the man before you. His hands gently take off your panties as he admires your bare body. "(Y/N), you're so breath takingly beautiful." He softly spoke. His voice full of love as he took off his boxers.
His dick springs up under his belly button, as he climbed back onto the bed, you couldn't help but admire the sight of his chiseled body, every inch of him oozing with raw masculinity. His touch was both gentle and rough, and you loved the way he made you feel. He kissed you again, his tongue exploring every inch of your mouth as he slowly pushed himself inside of you, filling you up completely. You moaned into the kiss as he slowly started to pump in and out of your hole, making sure you stretched out to his length. The sensation was almost overwhelming, and you moaned loudly as he started to move, each thrust driving you crazy.
You clung to him, your nails digging into his skin as you surrendered yourself completely to the moment. He moved faster and harder, his breathing growing more ragged with every thrust. You could feel the tension building inside of you, and you knew that you were about to come undone.
Leon's hips moved with a steady rhythm, each thrust sending waves of pleasure through your body. His hands gripped your hips tightly, his fingers digging into your flesh as he increased the intensity of his thrusts. You could feel his muscles contracting with each movement, his abs rippling beneath your fingers as you clung to him. He slowly moved his left hand to press on your lower belly and rub your clit with his thumb. You couldn't help but let your eyes roll back and let out a louder moan with his name thrown into it.
As he continued to pump in and out of you, his lips found their way to your neck, nipping and sucking at your skin, leaving marks that would remind you of this moment for days to come. You wrapped your legs around his waist, pulling him deeper inside of you, wanting to feel every inch of him.
The heat between you grew more intense with each passing moment, and you could feel your body responding to his every touch. The sensation was almost overwhelming, and you could feel yourself getting closer and closer to the edge. You reached up to grab onto his shoulders, pulling him closer to you as he pounded into you with increasing force.
Leon's breath was ragged and hot against your neck as he whispered words of love and desire in your ear, his voice deep and husky with passion. "You feel so good, baby," he moaned, his thrusts becoming more urgent. "I can't get enough of you."
You could feel your own release building inside of you, your body trembling with anticipation. You became undone underneath him as he continued to pound into you. With each thrust, you felt yourself getting closer and closer to the edge once again, the pleasure almost too much to bear. Leon seemed to sense it too, his movements becoming faster and harder as he pushed you towards the brink of ecstasy.
"Oh god, Leon," you moaned, the pleasure becoming almost unbearable. "Don't stop, please don't stop."
He responded with a deep, throaty growl, his movements becoming even more frenzied as he took you to the edge and over it. And then it happened - a wave of pure ecstasy crashed over you, every nerve ending in your body exploding with pleasure. Leon didn't slow down, driving you higher and higher until you finally felt him explode inside of you, his body shuddering with pleasure as he found release. You felt your whole body shake with the force of your release, waves of pleasure washing over you again and again. Leon followed close behind you, his own release triggering a cascade of fireworks behind your eyelids.
The two of you lay there, panting and spent, wrapped up in each other's arms. It was moments like this that made you feel grateful for the incredible love and passion you shared with Leon. You knew that whatever the future held, the two of you would always have each other.
As your breathing returned to normal, Leon leaned in to kiss you once more, his lips still tasting of desire and passion. You could feel the warmth of his skin against yours, and it was a comfort to know that he was there with you, in that moment.
As you lay there, entwined in each other's embrace, Leon began to softly whisper words of love and adoration in your ear. His voice was deep and husky, sending shivers down your spine with every word.
"I love you," he whispered. "You're everything to me."
You smiled, feeling your heart fill with warmth at his words. "I love you too," you replied, running your fingers through his hair.
The two of you lay there, wrapped up in each other's arms, lost in the afterglow of your passion. The world outside faded away, and all that mattered was the love that you shared. You knew that no matter what challenges the future held, the two of you would face them together, with a love that was strong enough to conquer anything. You felt him pull out of you, both of your climaxes flowing out of you once he was fully out. He softly chuckled as he kissed your forehead before he picks you up out of bed. "Lets get you cleaned up again before we sleep princess."
Leon's voice was gentle and full of love as he held you close, his strong arms cradling you as he carried you towards the bathroom. He set you down on the edge of the bathtub and started the water, making sure it was just the right temperature before he carefully helped you step into the shower. He stood behind you, his arms wrapping around your waist as he held you close, the warm water cascading down over your bodies.
As he helped you wash, his touch was gentle and loving, his fingers tracing every curve of your body with a reverence that made your heart swell with love. He kissed the back of your neck, his lips soft and warm against your skin as he whispered sweet nothings in your ear, telling you how much he loved you and how lucky he was to have you in his life.
You turned to face him, your eyes locking onto his as you leaned in to kiss him again. This time, the kiss was slow and tender, a soft exploration of each other's lips that spoke volumes of the love you shared. As the water continued to flow over you, you felt his arms tighten around you, pulling you close as if he never wanted to let you go. The warmth of the water enveloped you both, soothing your skin and relaxing your muscles. You felt his hands moving up and down your back, massaging you gently as you basked in the warmth of the shower. Eventually, the two of you stepped out of the shower, dried off, and got dressed.
After the shower, he dried you off gently, his touch as soft as a feather as he wrapped you up in a towel. He led you back to the bedroom, tucking you into bed with a kiss on the forehead. As he settled in beside you, he pulled you close, his arms wrapping around you as he held you tightly, his love a comforting cocoon around you. You felt safe and loved in his embrace, knowing that no matter what challenges lay ahead, the two of you would face them together, with a love that was strong enough to conquer anything.
As you drifted off to sleep in his arms, you couldn't help but feel grateful for this moment and for the beautiful life that you were building together.
You spent the morning snuggled up in bed, talking about the future and all the possibilities that lay ahead. As you sipped coffee and nibbled on pancakes, you began discussing wedding plans, imagining the perfect day that would celebrate your love. Leon listened to your ideas, offering suggestions and thoughts, his eyes sparkling with excitement and joy.
You spent hours brainstorming, jotting down notes and making lists, discussing everything from the flowers to the menu to the music. As you talked, you could feel your love growing stronger with every passing moment, the prospect of spending your lives together filling you with warmth and joy.
After breakfast, you decided to take a stroll through the park, hand in hand, talking more about your vision for the big day. You discussed the venue, the guest list, and even the color scheme, imagining every detail down to the last petal on the bouquet.
You settled on a bouquet of soft pink and ivory roses, with a few delicate sprigs of baby's breath tucked in between. The roses were arranged in a cascading style, with the stems wrapped in a pale pink satin ribbon that trailed gracefully behind.
As you envisioned the bouquet in your mind, you could almost smell the sweet fragrance of the roses and feel the soft petals against your skin. You knew that carrying this bouquet on your wedding day would make you feel like the most beautiful and cherished bride in the world.
You and Leon had discussed many ideas for the wedding venue, but eventually, you settled on a charming outdoor garden that was surrounded by trees and blooming flowers. The vibrant colors of the flowers were incorporated into the color scheme, with shades of pink, lavender, and ivory taking center stage. The ceremony would be held beneath a beautifully decorated archway, with delicate ribbons and flower garlands draped around it.
The reception would take place in a nearby ballroom that was adorned with twinkling lights and hanging lanterns. The tables were set with elegant ivory linens, and each place setting was accented with a single pink rose. The food would be a delicious blend of local cuisine, with fresh seafood and seasonal produce taking center stage. For dessert, you had decided on a tiered cake decorated with fresh flowers and drizzled with a light glaze.
As you walked, you couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with love for Leon, the thought of spending the rest of your life with him making your heart race. The day seemed to pass in a blissful haze, filled with love and laughter, until the sun began to set and you found yourselves back in bed, wrapped up in each other's arms once again.
As the days passed, the excitement for your wedding continued to build. You and Leon finalized all the details, from the flowers to the food, ensuring that everything would be perfect for the big day.
The day before the wedding, you went to the venue to do a final walkthrough with the event planner. As you walked through the space, you could see your vision come to life. The colors were vibrant, the flowers were arranged beautifully, and the tables were set perfectly. You took a deep breath and smiled, knowing that everything was going to be perfect.
The morning of the wedding, you woke up to a beautiful sunrise, feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. You and your bridesmaids got ready together, sipping mimosas and laughing as you helped each other with hair and makeup. The bouquet that you had designed with the florist was delivered, and it took your breath away with its beauty.
As the time drew closer, you slipped into your wedding dress, a stunning creation that flowed around you like a dream. The ivory lace shimmered in the sunlight, and the delicate beading sparkled with every movement you made. You twirled around in front of the mirror, feeling like a princess in your own fairytale.
Your bridesmaids gasped when they saw you, tears welling up in their eyes as they took in your beauty. You smiled at them, feeling grateful for their love and support on this special day. You locked your eyes with your mom, who looked so proud and happy. Her mouth opens and closes as tears well up in her eyes.
As tears welled up in her eyes, your mom took a deep breath and stepped forward to embrace you. "Oh my darling, you look absolutely stunning," she whispered, her voice choked with emotion. "I can't believe how grown up you are now, and how beautiful you look in that dress."
She pulled back and looked at you with such love and pride that your heart swelled with emotion. "I just know that you and Leon are going to be so happy together," she continued, her eyes shining with tears. "You make such a wonderful couple, and I am so grateful to have you both in my life."
You hugged her back tightly, feeling overwhelmed with love for your mom and gratitude for all she had done for you. "Thank you, Mom," you whispered, your voice thick with emotion. "I couldn't have done this without you."
As you and your mom hugged, your bridesmaids gathered around you, their own eyes glistening with tears. It was a moment of pure love and joy, one that you would treasure forever.
The final touches were added to your hair and makeup, and then it was time to make your way to the ceremony. You took a deep breath and stepped outside, feeling the warm sun on your face and the cool breeze in your hair.
As you walked down the aisle, you could feel all eyes on you, but your focus was on Leon, who was waiting for you at the altar with a look of love and adoration in his eyes. You reached him, and he took your hand, his fingers lacing with yours.
The ceremony was beautiful, with the gentle breeze carrying the fragrance of the flowers all around.
As the ceremony began, Leon's eyes locked onto yours and he began to recite his vows. His voice was strong and steady, filled with love and devotion.
"My dearest love, from the moment I met you, I knew that my life would never be the same. You are my best friend, my confidante, and my soulmate. I promise to stand by your side through thick and thin, to support and encourage you in all that you do, and to be your rock when life gets tough." He pauses and looks up at you, tears welling in his oceanic blue eyes before he continues.
"I vow to love you unconditionally, to cherish every moment we share, and to always put your needs before my own. You are the missing piece of my heart, and I am so grateful to have found you. I promise to always be honest and faithful to you, to make you laugh when you're feeling down, and to hold your hand through the ups and downs of life."
"I vow to build a life with you that is filled with happiness, adventure, and love. Together, we will make the most of every moment, creating memories that will last a lifetime. I love you more than words can express, and I promise to spend the rest of my days making you happy and loving you with all of my heart."
As he finished his vows, there wasn't a dry eye in the house. The ceremony was a beautiful testament to your love, filled with laughter, tears, and moments that you would never forget.
As Leon looked at you with tears in his eyes, you felt your own eyes well up with emotion. You took a deep breath and began to speak your vows.
"Leon, from the moment I met you, I knew that you were the one for me. You've shown me what true love means, and I feel so blessed to be standing here with you today. I vow to love you, to cherish you, and to support you through all the ups and downs that life may bring. I promise to be your rock, your partner, and your best friend for as long as we both shall live." You smile as a stray tear rolls down your cheek. "I promise to hold your hand through the good times and the bad, to laugh with you and cry with you, to be your home and your sanctuary. I vow to support your dreams and aspirations, and to always push you to be the best version of yourself. I promise to listen to you, to respect you, and to cherish every moment we have together. I love you more than words can express, and I will spend the rest of my life showing you just how much you mean to me. My love, you are the sunshine in my life. From the moment I met you, I knew that I had found my soulmate. I promise to always love you, to always support you, and to always be there for you. I will cherish every moment that we spend together, and I will work hard to create a beautiful life for us. You are my everything, and I vow to love and honor you for eternity." As you finished speaking, you felt a wave of emotion wash over you, the love and support of your family and friends surrounding you like a warm embrace.
Finally, the officiant pronounced you as husband and wife, and Leon leaned in to kiss you, sealing your love for all eternity.
As you kissed, you felt a wave of joy and contentment wash over you. The crowd erupted into cheers and applause, the sound echoing throughout the venue. You broke the kiss, turning to face your guests with tears of happiness streaming down your face.
You could see the pride and love in your parents' eyes, as well as the joy and excitement in the faces of your friends and family. You hugged your parents, feeling grateful for their unwavering support and guidance throughout your life.
Leon's parents also stepped forward, wrapping their arms around you and welcoming you into their family with open hearts. The two families merged into one, sharing in the love and joy of the moment.
As you looked around the room, you couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude and happiness. You had always dreamed of this day, and it was even more perfect than you could have ever imagined.
Leon took your hand, and the two of you made your way down the aisle, surrounded by your loved ones. You were officially husband and wife, and you couldn't wait to start your lives together as a married couple.
The reception was a joyous celebration of your love, filled with laughter, dancing, and memories that would last a lifetime. The décor was breathtaking, with elegant centerpieces and twinkling lights creating a romantic ambiance that perfectly captured the love that you and Leon shared.
As the night went on, Chris, one of your closest friends, stepped up to the mic to give a heartfelt toast to the newlyweds. With a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye, he began to speak.
"To my dear friends, Leon and (Y/N), I can't express how happy I am for the two of you. Seeing you standing here together, surrounded by love and happiness, brings tears to my eyes. You both are a shining example of what true love is all about, and I know that you will have a lifetime of happiness together. I'm so glad you two have allowed me to help you with planning this wonderful night out. Its truly an honor."
He turned to Leon, a grin on his face. "Leon, my man, I've known you for years, and I can honestly say that I've never seen you as happy as you are now. (Y/N) brings out the best in you, and I know that you will continue to make her feel loved and cherished for the rest of your lives together."
Chris then turned to you, a smile on his face. "And (Y/N), my beautiful friend, I can't imagine anyone more perfect for Leon than you. You are kind, loving, and endlessly patient, and I know that you will be an incredible wife to him."
He raised his glass. "To the happy couple, may your love continue to grow and flourish with each passing year. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy!"
As the crowd cheered and clinked their glasses, you felt your heart swell with love and joy. This was truly the happiest day of your life, and you knew that you would cherish every moment of it for the rest of your days.
The food was delicious, with a variety of dishes that catered to all tastes and preferences. The cake was a work of art, with intricate details and flavors that made your taste buds dance. You spent the rest of the day celebrating with your friends and family, dancing and laughing and enjoying the beautiful wedding that you had planned together. As the night drew to a close, you and Leon slipped away from the festivities, hand in hand, ready to start the rest of your lives together as husband and wife.
As the night wore on, you and Leon stole away for a moment alone, looking out at the stars and reflecting on the amazing day that you had just shared. You felt so lucky to have found each other, and you knew that your love would only continue to grow stronger with each passing day.
The night ended with a final dance, surrounded by the people who meant the most to you. As you held each other close, you knew that you had found your happily ever after, and that you were truly blessed to have each other.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You smiled and nodded, feeling a sense of contentment wash over you. The two of you said your goodbyes to your guests, thanking them for sharing in your special day. As you made your way to the exit, Chris stepped up and hugged you both, his eyes glistening with tears.
"You two are meant to be together," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I am so happy for you and I know that you will have a lifetime of love and happiness together."
You and Leon hugged Chris back, feeling grateful for his support and love. As you walked out into the cool night air, hand in hand, you couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with love and joy. Leon quickly scooped you up into his arms and walked the rest of the way to the car.
The ride home was quiet, filled with contented sighs and stolen glances at each other. When you finally arrived home, Leon scooped you up in his arms and carried you over the threshold, kissing you passionately as he did so.
part one - part two - part three - part four - epilogue
The salt air breeze touched your skin as you pulled your coat closer to your chest. The view of the ocean in front of you. Waves roared as it crashed against the gigantic rocks and then settled calmly at the shore. A bit of fog blanketed over the cliffside that you were standing on. You took a deep breath and took in the view in front of you, the wind flowing through your hair.
It has been a week since you and Eli had fought. One week since you had finally left that haunted flat and broken relationship that consumed every part of you. If you had stood on this cliffside one week ago, you probably had followed your fears and insecurities all the way down. Now, it felt like you were a different person.
You haven’t felt at ease in a long time.
You thought breaking it off with Eli was going to make you feel like you had regretted the decision. That maybe, you were overreacting but somehow, you felt the heavy weight off your shoulders. You felt as if you had this newly found freedom, and you didn’t know what to do with it after two years of feeling trapped in that prison of a relationship.
Joe had been there with you every step of the way. He had been there when Eli terrorized your dreams at night. He was there when you needed to let your emotions out because of everything that happened. Joe understood all of it. He never hesitated to take care of you. But the problem was that you also didn’t want to depend your world on him. You had spent two years depending yourself on a man and look where that landed you.
It wasn’t because you thought Joe was just like Eli because he was different.
He was much different.
But stepping out of your mentally abusive relationship and immediately being in another new relationship was all so overwhelming. The thought of Eli and all the shit you went through was still consuming your mind, and you were afraid that because of all your open wounds, you might end up hurting Joe. The one you care about the most.
You were still bleeding, and you didn’t want Joe to experience the same thing because of the sharp edges of your broken pieces. You didn’t know how you could start to puzzle up the pieces that Eli had left you with. What if along the way, you also end up hurting Joe? That was the last thing you wanted.
Strong arms wrapped around your waist, snapping you back into reality. Joe stood behind you, tucking your head under his chin. You felt him smile. Even when you couldn’t see it, you could feel it injecting right through your veins and restarted your heart back to life.
A small soft hum escaped from him as he said, “What’s on your mind, darling?”
His voice made your heart skip a beat.
“A lot of things.” You exhaled sharply, closing your eyes for a moment and leaned back against him.
Joe dropped a soft kiss on your hair before you turned yourself to face him. His wool coat was keeping him warm, and his curls were flowing through the wind. It made him even more beautiful.
Your arms wrapped around his waist as you stared into his eyes.
“What is it, darling?” Joe asked.
“I don’t want to hurt you.” You murmured.
Joe’s brows furrowed, a confused expression washed over his face. He could see the worry in your eyes. Joe had noticed how much you have been sort of distant from him all week. He never said anything because he knew you were going through a lot, and he wanted to give you your space. However, hearing those words escaped your lips, he couldn't help but wonder how long you have been having these thoughts.
To him, you were everything. Ever since you had walked into that studio and were introduced to him as part of his team, he knew that you were more than that. He knew that you were someone that he wanted to get to know more and when he did, he couldn’t help but fall for you. You never noticed it because you were always inside your mind. Those thoughts were always reeling everyday.
He only had realized as to why you were always within yourself until you had confessed to him about Eli that night at the park. Joe never knew the hell that you went through for two years. All he saw was this intelligent, hard working and beautiful woman in front of him until you had split yourself open to him, and he saw all the corners of you.
Somehow, he only fell harder.
He would do anything to make you happy. He would do anything to keep you safe and treat you better than Eli could ever would.
“You’re not, darling.” He replied, his eyes deep into yours.
“I mean…” You sighed, letting go from his arms.
For a moment, you turned to stare at the ocean in front of you. Waves breaking and crashing to the shore. Joe followed you as you both settled on the grass. There was a comfortable silence between the both of you for a minute.
“I have open wounds.” You murmured, looking down at your fingers on your lap. “I’m broken. What if… I end up hurting you? That’s not what I want.”
You felt Joe moved closer to you, taking you in his arms and his hands found yours. He held you close, his strong arms wrapped around your delicate body.
“I know you’re struggling a lot right now, darling.” Joe murmured. “But I know you could never hurt me.”
You exhaled a deep breath through your nose, your eyes fell on your lap as you said, “I’ve been enough of a burden to you. I need to put myself back together again. I don’t want to hurt you because sometimes, my emotions could be so strong.”
“Hey,” Joe set his index finger under your chin and lifted your head, so you could look at him.
His eyes were full of love and affection for you. You could see all of it through his eyes, and you wondered how could someone like Joe love someone so broken and wounded and weak.
How could he love you?
“You’re not broken. You’re so strong and resilient. I know you will get through this. I’m not gonna go anywhere. I’ll be here every step of the way.” Joe said, his eyes trying to find you inside your wet brown ones.
“Unless…” Joe added, his head tilting a little towards the side. “You need space? To have your own solitude?”
It wasn’t a secret that you had hidden yourself too much in your own world for a long time now. However, hearing that coming from Joe, suddenly you felt a knot forming in your stomach. It wasn’t Joe nor his words. It was the chemicals in your brain from the way Eli had talked to you for the last two years. It was almost like you couldn’t believe what Joe was saying to you. That he was so understanding about all of this.
When you couldn’t seem to answer his question, you felt Joe’s thumb caressing the back of your hand. Suddenly, you were brought back into reality. Suddenly, you felt yourself breathe again.
He was almost like oxygen that kept you alive.
“Hey, it’s okay.” Joe gave you a small reassuring smile. “I won’t be mad if you need your time. I understand that. I know how you feel about me, and I know that you don’t want to hurt me. So, whatever you need to do to find yourself again, I’ll understand.”
“It’s not just that…” You whispered.
You couldn’t say the words because you were too afraid.
Too afraid that it could be true. You haven’t heard from Eli all week, and you knew how his threats were. If something happened to him… If he did something to himself because of you, you wouldn’t be able to forgive yourself. You wouldn’t be able to face the fact that you had made someone lose their life because of one decision. The thought of it made your hands tremble in fear. You couldn’t even imagine how it would feel if you woke up one of these days and heard the news about Eli.
It would be your fault.
It would be all your fault.
“What is it, darling?” Joe asked, his fingers found your cheek as he caressed it softly.
“When… When I was with Eli.” You took a deep breath. “He told me that if I ever left him, he would… harm himself.”
It wasn’t even the correct word to describe the threats he had told you, but you couldn’t bring yourself to say it out loud.
Joe stared at you for a moment, eyes blinking and trying to find the right words to say. He felt his mind shut down for a minute. He knew the gaslighting and the manipulation that Eli had done to you, but he never would have imagined that he would say something like this. That he would threaten you like this in order for you to stay with him.
To choose him.
Without a choice.
Joe felt his heart pumping out of his chest. He felt it drumming in his ears as he tried his best to calm himself down and gave himself a reason as to why he shouldn’t get up right now and go and punch Eli for treating you like this. For trapping you and guilt tripping you in order for him to own you.
Like some kind of property.
“If something happens to him… I…” You began shaking your head as tears welled up in your eyes. “It will be my fault.”
“Hey, listen to me.” Joe cupped your face between his hands. “No, it’s not. The things he had said… The things that he had threatened you. Those are all the things he wanted you to hear, so you would feel as if you needed to stay. As if it would be your fault.”
Joe exhaled a sharp breath. You saw the anger in his eyes, his jaw locking together, and his muscles tensed not from the cold air but from the anger washing over him. He was soft and gentle with you, but you could see the emotions that were whirling inside of him. It was almost like a hurricane, and he was trying his best to keep it inside of him. To keep the collateral damage that could leave if he sets it free.
“He was manipulative. He wanted to make sure that you stayed without a choice.” Joe shook his head. “You deserve to live your life the way you want. You deserve to want the things that you want without anyone stopping you. You deserved to feel alive. You deserved to be free.”
Suddenly, the chemicals in your brain have been altered as you listened to Joe’s words. All you ever did was love Eli. You gave him everything and somehow, that was never enough for him. You let yourself vanish and disintegrate like ashes from a fire and yet, it was always never enough.
“You know your strength and your worth.” Joe’s face was inches from you now. “I know you’ll be able to pick yourself up, and I’ll be here next to you and help you.”
“What if…” You exhaled through your nose, your head hung low. “What if I become too much to handle? What if… he was right all along? That I’m weak. What if you see the real me and change your mind?”
“I love you then, I love you now, and I will always love you.” Joe said sternly. “That’s never going to change.”
Pulling your body against his, a soft kiss was placed on your hair. Your back leaned against his chest as Joe wrapped his strong arms around you.
“Fly free, darling.” Joe whispered. “And if you let me, I’ll fly right with you.”
Looking over your shoulder, a small smile tugged on your lips as you leaned and kissed Joe softly on the lips. In here, you felt safe in his arms. In here, you wanted the time to freeze and just be in this moment with him. Your mind had stopped working. Your body was melting into his as you turned yourself in his arms and gently pushed him on the grass, towering over him.
You earned a soft approving hum from him as his nose gently grazed against your cheek, breathing you in. Joe was so soft, and the heat from his body was radiating between the two of you that made your whole body set on fire. When his lips had found your lips again, your brain was now on fire. You could feel every emotion he has for you in your bones. The way how much he wanted to be with you. How much he would do anything for you.
You could feel all of it.
He treated you like you were never broken and that you were strong. He never saw you as someone so vulnerable or helpless. He could see that you could do anything, and you didn’t need anyone else to pick yourself back up. Not even him. He knew your worth.
His kiss was soft and loving. When his lips found the line of your jaw and down your neck, he tried to memorize every inch of you like you both have all the time in the world. You couldn’t help but gasp softly, feeling his cold fingers slid under your sweater and gently touched your heated skin. His fingers softly ran on your sides and then up your back, pulling you close against him.
“I love you.” Joe’s voice was gentle and silky as he pulled away from the kiss.
Your eyes studied him for a moment. You couldn’t find the words to reply back because it was those three little words, and they meant so much. Joe, however, just smiled and caressed your cheek with his fingers. You could see how he was patient and understanding as he let out a soft chuckle when you buried your face on his neck. You planted a soft kiss right there, making you smile through his soft skin.
“I could never get tired of you.” You felt Joe’s chest rise before exhaling a sharp breath and gazed down at you.
Joe felt you smile as you closed your eyes and your lashes tickled the soft skin on his neck. For a while, you both just laid there on the grass. Gray clouds and fog blanketed over the two of you, while the waves crashing echoed your surroundings.
It was peaceful.
It was something you needed. Something you wished you could stay at forever. Just in Joe’s safe warm arms and in this cliffside with an ocean view. It almost felt like you were in heaven.
The person that greeted you and Joe the next morning when you both went back to the city was someone you didn’t expect at all. Exiting out of the car, Joe immediately walked towards Eli, who was sitting on the front porch of Joe’s house.
“What are you doing here?” Joe asked, his voice was stern.
You followed right behind him, your hands found Joe’s forearm as you tried to hold him back. You never saw Joe like this, and you could see the anger in his eyes as Eli got up from the steps and stared at him then back to you.
“I… I just want to talk to her.” Eli said, his voice trembled.
From the last two years you have known Eli, you have never seen him like this either. You noticed the dark circles under his eyes, and he looked exhausted. He looked like he hadn't slept in days nor had eaten anything. You could tell how his face looked different. His eyes were deep and cheekbones were more prominent.
“You stay the hell away from her before we call the police.” Joe warned, taking a step forward towards him.
Your hand never left Joe’s arm as you tried to pull him back. His eyes were glaring at Eli, and you could see Joe’s hands turning into a fist.
“Hey,” You set a hand on his back that seemed to help him unclenched all his tensed muscles. “It’s okay. Let me talk to him.”
Joe turned his attention towards you with a worried look on his face as soon as he heard the words come out of your lips.
“It’s okay.” You whispered, reassuring him as you squeezed his hand lightly.
Giving Eli one more death glare, Joe slipped his touch from yours and made his way inside the house. Crossing your arms on your chest, you stood tall in front of Eli, trying to show him that you weren’t the weak girl that he had made you for the last two years.
“What is it?” You asked after a few minutes of silence.
“Is this really over?” Eli’s eyes were already starting to well up.
If your mind wasn’t thinking about all the shit he put you through, you would feel bad for him. Although at this point, you didn’t know if you could trust every word that he said because he was always manipulating you. Eli crying in front of you used to be one of his tactics for you to feel guilty and feel bad for him.
Well, that wasn’t going to work on you anymore.
“H…How long have you been seeing him?” Eli asked. “You cheated on me?”
“Yes.” You immediately answered him. “I’m not proud of it, but I did.”
Eli nodded his head and walked past you, but he paused in his tracks and turned around to face you. You saw the unshed tears in his eyes.
“Can I ask you one thing?” Eli said.
You stood by the front porch and waited for him to continue.
“What was it? What did I do wrong?”
You exhaled a sharp breath. You couldn’t believe that he was asking you this after everything you told him that night. You couldn’t believe how dense he could be. How he couldn’t even recognize his actions and all the shit he put you through. At the end, he still believed what he did in your relationship was okay. That it was all fine, and he was innocent.
That it was you who chose to leave him for no reason.
It was you who cheated and was the bad guy.
You had your own mistakes and cheating on him wasn’t one of your proudest moments, and you admitted it. But Eli? He couldn’t admit one thing he did to you.
“How could you not recognize your own actions, Eli?” You shook your head, brows furrowing. “You trapped me for two years. Controlled everything I did. You wouldn’t let me wear makeup, you wouldn’t let me wear a dress unless it went over my knee. I couldn’t see my friends nor text them because you always wanted my attention. You gaslit me until I became so weak and just followed all the orders you told me.”
Eli was shaking his head now. “That’s not true.”
“Yes, it is!” You exclaimed. “How could you be so blind? How could you not admit that you were choking me every day. How could you not realize that I was dying everyday, trapped in the prison that you have built for me?”
Eli was quiet.
He couldn’t say anything.
“It’s over.” You stated sternly. “Please don’t bother me again.”
You watched as Eli nodded his head, “You’ll always be my girl.”
Those words sent shivers down your spine. It made you cringe as you watched him walk away and entered his car, driving away from the house. You felt a tear rolled down your cheek as you heard the front door open and felt Joe’s hand on your forearm.
“Come here.” He whispered, turning you to face him and pulled you into his embrace.
You quietly sobbed on Joe’s shoulder, wrapping your arms around his waist. You didn’t realize even after everything you had gone through, your heart could still feel like it was being ripped out of your chest. You did care for Eli for the last two years, and you didn’t want to hurt him but you also couldn’t keep hurting yourself. You couldn’t keep breaking yourself for someone who never loved you. His love meant something else to him, and you couldn’t let yourself be the victim of that anymore.
Pulling you inside the house, Joe held you tightly in his arms until you had calmed down.
One day, you would be okay.
One day, you would be able to pick yourself back up again.
But until then, you were at least free from the prison that you were trapped in for the last two years.
What We Owe To Each Other (2&3)
HELLO ROLAN NATION
I come bearing gifts for the very patient readers and to make amends for my three-months break, namely 7,000 words split into two chapters, a fight, a hug, and lots of emotional rollercoasters.
I am very sad that it took me so long to finish this part of the story, but I am very relieved that it's finally out - I can now focus on the main story and bring more Tav and Rolan into everyone's lives. I'm not too sure when I will be able to post next, maybe in a week or two, but I will let you know. You can follow the tag “series:forbidden fire” here on tumblr to not miss when it comes out! :)
In the meantime, a little sneak peek under the cut, as usual.
It's good to be back :)
Read on AO3 (2 & 3/3)
Read Part 1: Wild Winds Are Death To The Candle (2/2)
Read Part 2: Through Shadows To The Edge Of Night (3/3)
Tumblr media
If the sun failed to rise today, Rolan didn’t think he’d care.
It was still dark outside when he woke up from another sleepless night; his body sore and aching, heart barely beating anymore, the overwhelming bitterness of desperation the only tangible proof that he was still alive.
His fingers grazed his cheekbone and he flinched at the pain, a sharp hiss leaving his lips. If Lorroakan kept beating him like this, he’d surrender his last breath before the next tenday.
Another day meant another torment, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to simply take it. To say, yes master, sorry master. To keep up the charade, to pretend that he couldn’t break Lorroakan in two by snapping his fingers. Day after day he felt it: his magic growing, pulsing; yearning to break free and to flood every cell of his body. It would surge and soar, a blinding wave of power that would annihilate everything around him, calling the Weave to his aid so intensely that Mystra herself would have no choice but to command him for it. A part of him feared this— if the dam were to break, he’d be pulled under the tidal wave too and would drown in it, overwhelmed. But a part of him craved it: to tame the storm and to unleash his rage, to ride the high of his wrath and take revenge on the tyrant.
Rolan had never been a violent man. Truth be told, he despised violence: one should know how to behave. To resort to fists was most unbecoming of a wizard and any self-respecting gentleman: if he ever fought, it was out of utmost necessity - to protect his siblings, or himself. He wasn’t too proud to admit that he had had a few altercations back in Elturel, but there had been no other choice. Once to defend Cal from a vengeful human who assaulted him, blaming the Descent on his infernal heritage. And before that, when he had been a child himself with no one to look after him. The memory of brutality he experienced back then had never fully disappeared, even after so many years; faded but never forgotten. Now, it was back in full force, and in him stirred a dark, maddening urge to burn.
He sighed, anxiety tightening his chest, his unsettling thoughts adding to his unrest. Mornings like this, he wondered what was the point of it all; to walk out there, take the spot that he hated so behind the wooden counter to let the world see his shame, for his master wouldn’t let him heal nor conceal. If they ask, you’ll tell them the truth: that you are a careless, worthless apprentice who should learn his place before he can pretend to learn real magic.
The humiliations blended together: fresh bruises replaced the older ones, and the light in his eyes dimmed with every rising sun.
But surely he could endure a little longer.
Just a little longer. For Cal. For Lia. To show them he was brave, to prove to them that he would still make it.
With a groan he got up, taking off his nightclothes with care to not reopen the wounds on his ribs. Despite his pain he refused to give up and kept putting on a set of respectable nightclothes after sunset, out of principle, because it still mattered to him. Whatever was left of his dignity, he had to preserve it.
Yes. He could endure a little longer. If anything, because Tav had asked him to.
Tav.
Annoying, meddlesome, infuriating Tav, who showed up out of the blue to turn his world upside down once again.
Frustrating, vexing, obstinate Tav, who couldn’t take “no” for an answer and bent the rules of the universe to do as she pleased.
He used to think he hated her; now he couldn’t remember why. But maybe it would be better if he still did, for hate was such an easy emotion to feed and such a great outlet for all his sorrows. He could never do that anymore though; not when she was the reason why he was still alive and his family too. Not when she had been so kind while he had been so rough, not when she had made a point to prove him wrong twice. Not when she had planted the seeds of hope back in his heart, to which he held onto with all his strength with a desperation he didn’t know he had.
A few days, at most.
With every sunrise he waited to see her walking back in the shop, fierce and proud, with her signature shit-eating grin and that lovely pout of hers.
Back for him, somehow, to save the world and his sorry self at the same time.
But every sunset dashed his expectations. How long were a few days supposed to be?
♡Akutagawa x GN!Reader♡
♡Oneshot♡
Warnings: possible bad grammer/writing, You/Your being used to address reader, Slight angst (?) But has fluff at the end, implied injures, bandages, casts, possible OOC Akutagawa, and definitely not proofread.
This takes place right after the end of season 1. This can be read as platonically or romantically.
A/N: This is my first one-shot I'm posting ever on my tumbler. It's probably wattpad material since I don't think I'm the greatest at writing stories to be completely honest. I haven't written all that much, probably the last time I wrote a fanfiction was like when I was in middle school. I was also writing this at midnight, so it's most likely pretty bland. I mostly wrote this since I had an idea in my mind in the middle of the night, and I just went for it.
♤♤♤
Annoying birds could be heard chirping this bright morning and the high-pitched beating from a heart monitor, too. It was not usual to hear each morning to many, but it has become too familiar in your daily routine.
The sickly white bedsheets blended with Akutagawa's complexion, as he lay on an uncomfortable-looking bed. He was wrapped with bandages, and you could have sworn that he would be able to beat the infamous bandaged wasting machine from the Armed Detective Agency. It has been a few days since Akutagawa came to be here. And only a couple of days before he had awoken. Yet he hasn’t said a thing, not even to the nurses that had been nursing him back to health. Nor to you, who have been coming to visit every morning and every night.
It wasn’t uncommon for Akutagawa to not speak to his fellow peers, but something to you felt off about his silence. It was like he had something on his mind, yet he dared not say what it was. Although recently, there had been some progress, even though his only responses were groans and annoyed huffs.
Another day of you sitting on the chair beside the port mafia’s black dog. He still doesn't dare to speak up or take any action to look at you. He just stares at the wall in thought, as his mind goes into turmoil. His mind went to his last confrontation with the weretiger that happened not so long ago. Even he couldn’t deny what he had felt. Once Atsushi brought his final blow to Akutagawa, he felt like he failed again. He failed again to take down Atsushi. He failed to live up to Dazai’s expectations. And he failed himself. He was foolish and weak. At least, that is what Akutagawa told himself.
Even though he thought he was secretive about his own emotions, you could read him like a book sometimes. Not all the time, but that face he made as he looked at that boring old wall that had chipped paint across it, could tell you all you needed to know.
“You look a little more sour than yesterday.” You leaned your elbow on the armrest of the dingy chair you sat on. Your hand prompts up your head as your gaze meets the side of the pale man's cheek. “And I thought yesterday was already sour enough.”
Akutagawa rolls his eyes in annoyance. You always had the weirdest ways of explaining his emotions. If he could, he would slap his hand to his forehead if he had the energy to. Yet again, he stayed quiet as you rambled about.
“How have you been so far? Feeling any better recently?”
No answer.
“Can you shake your head yes or no? If it’s easier for you…”
Yet again, no answer. It seems like he was completely absorbed in his own thoughts. It looks like another day of him not speaking to you, or anyone for that matter. Even if Dazai came into this room right now to give him praise, Akutagawa won’t even acknowledge his mentor's presence.
You let out a small sigh as you realized there will probably be no progress for today with Akutagawa. You reached into your bag, bringing out a small box, placing it on the side table nearest to his bed.
“I got something for you. I don’t know if you would like it, since I’m not sure how they taste… Make sure to not let the nurses know I snuck it in, okay?”
He gave you no reaction to the sudden gift, maybe he was still stuck in his mind. So you gave up for today, of finally being able to talk to the man. You got up and headed to the infirmary door, but not before looking back, hoping that maybe, just maybe he would say something to you. Just something, anything, even if it was just one word.
But yet still nothing.
“I’ll come back later to check up on you. Don’t try anything while I’m gone, okay?”
Still no answer. You then left the infirmary, carefully closing the door as you headed out.
As you left, Akutagawa finally looked somewhere other than the wall in front of him. First, he looked at the door you left through, and then his gaze went to the box that sat on the bedside table. With his one free hand that wasn’t in a stiff cast. He reached over and picked up the small box. He shook it a bit, to hear rumbling inside like there were small little pieces jumping around. As he opened it up, it was small pieces of lightly coated sugar figs inside.
He took one out of the container and popped it into his mouth.
“...It’s sweet…”
He mumbled out while taking another small fig peice out of the small box.
♤♤♤
A/N: If you made it this far, thanks for reading! Idk if this was any good, and if you have any constructive criticism, I would like to hear it. I definitely want to improve on my writing skills and make some small fanfics every now and then.
The other night I had a dream of V finding a way to get Johnny his own body so he can live again. It’s purely synthetic but he feels totally real. His body has warmth, put your head to his heart and you can hear a beat.
(My V is female so I’ll be using she/her pronouns when referring to V)
Imagine the first time V wakes up, because the surgery to get the Relic out of V’s head was a danger all on its own so now she’s recovering, she sees Johnny but is so blurry in the head she thinks he’s still just in her head before going under again.
Then it’s one of those in and out of consciousness segments CP77 does when V is Going Through It. She sees Johnny struggling to walk, looking at himself, going to a mirror, then she blacks out for the longest point and when V wakes up she sees Johnny sitting right next to her trying to talk to her.
Let me tell you the second they have physical contact, the absolute moment V feels Johnny touch her arm or her face and feels his warmth she is going to launch herself at him. Johnny not into mushy shit might try to talk V down (because she also just woke up from a surgery that had a HIGH chance of flatlining her) but he caves into the emotions and sentiment and hugs V back- no
No he fucking holds her. This is the woman who had him in her head as a ticking clock thanks to the Relic, a woman that put up with all his nagging and bullshit (don’t forget in the beginning how you wanted to kill and hijack her body Johnny, don’t forget that). Then after all this time you two grew a bond, became friends, then became more than friends. Wanted more but Johnny was just a bunch of cancerous code in V’s head. Every day she was getting close to death’s door with no happy way out. Either V died, or Johnny vanished. (Obvi excluding some endings but stay with me here)
Neither of them would accept that answer, so they found a way. They found a fucking way and that how and why Johnny is able to hold this incredible fucking woman.
Fuck yeah Johnny lets a few tears slip, he's a big ol' softie under all that Rockerboy grit. Fuck yeah he holds V closer, able to feel the sensation of her hair and the warmth of her skin. He’s alive again, really alive. And it’s all thanks to V.
~
Or conversely, it’s Johnny who wakes up. Maybe he thinks this is a dream, or that he’s taken over V’s body, or perhaps a memory (because c’mon this guy has absolutely woken up in a hospital or Ripperdoc’s clinic many-a times before). He’s looking around, feeling strange, then he sees V standing nearby with her arms crossed, they meet eyes and she quips at him “well look who finally woke up”. Her head has bandages, the Relic was successfully removed.
Johnny is trying to process everything, he’s sitting up and feels. Feels the bed underneath him, feels the sheets, feels how fucking weird his body-
His Body!!
That’s when he looks at himself and sees he has a body again, a synthetic with no spare of detail (Yes all details. The First thing that man would do is check his impressive co-) no one would be able to tell the difference. That man would motion for V to come on over, sit by his bed, and she does. The first thing Johnny noticed were the bandages, he moves his hand to touch the gauze only to change his mind at the last second and touches V's cheek for the very first time. No longer a ghost, no longer in her head, he is here with her. He feels the soft warmth of her cheek, the wisps of her hair that tickles the back of his hand. That man pulls V into a kiss so quick they almost clash teeth but do either of them care? Fuck no! That ticking clock of doom that hung over their heads is gone. No longer does V need to race death, no longer does Johnny have to see V struggle, suffer, and stumble every time the Relic was malfunctioning and pulling her closer to death's door. They were told Death was inevitable, but they found a way to beat that motherfucker. Cyberpunk loves to use the arcana for a lot of theming. So the name for this ending? The Lovers. (Which is the trophy you get from stealing the Relic) OR Since Cyberpunk already uses the Lovers as a trophy The Devil Reversed.
The Alpha's Beta - Chapter 13 - Part 1
BOOK ONE: The Alpha's Trilogy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Warning Adult Content*
Valium - Part 1
Alpha Silas Claymore
I got the call at around noon on the 28th from Dr. Victors.
The test results were back and he'd like to see me as soon as possible.
As I made my way from the house, Simon 'who was out for a jog' spotted me and decided he wanted to join, that it was wrong for me to go alone and find out I was drugged.
Even if we already knew it.
He seemed to be in a better mood.
He smiled more and talked more calmly.
Running did great things for him, it got his mind off all the demons that played in his head.
The office was empty when we walked in, Tara, Victors receptionist told us to sit since he was seeing someone at the time.
She smiled brightly at Simon who was wearing tight jogging pants and a tight blue jogging t-shirt with it.
Leaving almost nothing to the imagination.
He didn't seem to notice her as he sat down and continued on about Ellis' younger brother Ivan and all the fun they had, had at the mall yesterday.
Ivan was by far the cutest kid in the pack, he's only eleven but his attitude is like a sixteen year old girl and his fashion.
Don't get me started on his clothing.
I saw him walking around the other day at the near by park, in a green kid-size football jersey with 'King 00' on the back and a pink tutu with black leggings and of course beaten up sneakers.
Ellis' mother was never a fan of gender rolls and liked to let her kids dress in what ever they pleased.
I can remember Ellis coming to school in pink tank top's and baggy jeans.
No one really cared how they dressed though.
Not just because at the time Ellis' father was the lead hunter and would kick anyone's ass who talked bad about his boys but because they were both well liked kids, never getting into  to much trouble and always able to poke fun at themselves if needed.
Everyone enjoys the spunk Ivan has and wouldn't dare make him upset because frankly he was far to cute to make cry.
"Alpha. Simon. It's nice to see you both today. Come with me please," I hear Victors say, pulling me from my thoughts.
I get up with Simon and follow the doctor to the room at the end of the hall.
It looks like any normal doctors office.
Medical tools on the wall, charts with a human body and of course a wolf's anatomy too.
After doing all the regular check 'my heart beat and my temperature' he asked if I felt odd.
Which thankfully after a goods night sleep, I felt 100% back to normal.
The doctor grabbed a file, placed it in his lap and looked at Simon and myself.
"Now, I need to ask you. Have you let anyone handle your food in the last, say four years?"
I sit back in the chair provided, next to Simon and thought about it, then nodded my head.
"My father used to make me coffee in the mornings but besides that Simon would normally cook supper, after he moved out I started making my own. Why?"
"Well," he says, clearing his throat.
"It seems for a good while, I could only assume your coffee had been drugged. We found high traces of diazepam, better known as Valium in your system, so much so any normal human would have overdosed long ago."
I narrow my eyes at him, trying to take in what he just told me.
My own father drugging me.
But why?
"But,'" he continues.
"Whatever was given to you this passed week seems to have flushed your system. I say if you didn't ask me to take blood when I did I wouldn't have found the Valium at all. Though its normally used for an anti-depressant, the dosage you were given could have blocked emotions or thinking clearly."
"Now you seem like a level headed man Alpha Silas. So I can only assume you must have been given it to block emotions. Why? I have no idea. I also can't tell you what emotions were blocked. You may feel angry or tired in the next few days. So just be aware. Besides that, you seem very healthy."
I nod before getting up and shaking his hand.
Thanking him for doing all that he's done.
Then reassure him that I'm fine and haven't had any mood swings.
It explained it though, why I didn't know Darren was my mate when we first met.
I felt a slight bond but pushed it aside as a Alpha/Beta bond.
When really it was the mates bond but the real questions still stands.
Why would my father drug me and why would these shifters want the drugs out of me.
'And how did they know.'
I mull everything over as I walk along side Simon, who has his ear buds in and is scrolling through his cell-phone, 'again'
"So," he says taking one ear bud out and looking over at me.
"Have you been feelings any different?"
I shake my head and watch as two of the pack warriors walk by.
They nod to me and continue what they're doing.
Which is gathering all stray animals and taking them to the city for 'adoption.'
Thankfully the only animals that come near the pack are dogs.
Deer's, moose and other animals don't come to close because they can smell wolves and what smart deer would walk right into wolf lands.
We normally have to go a few miles out for hunting and even then there aren't to many.
"The only thing I'm feeling right now is stress. After the pack meeting yesterday everybody seems to be a little spooked. I mean I haven't seen anyone out for a walk today and the kids all got drove to school, when they could have walked. I hate seeing the pack paranoid. They should all feel safe."
"Silas we should talk about this. I mean. That man drugged your coffee for four years. I mean that has to hit pretty hard."
"No Simon it doesn't 'hit me hard' it's really no shock to me. Dad was crazy and unstable. He was probably trying to weaken me so I wouldn't become Alpha when I turned of age. You know how paranoid he got. We were all out to get him. He would have done anything to make sure he stayed in control."
Simon nods along but I can see the pain in his eyes.
I hate bringing our father up because I know all it does is cause him pain and nightmares.
I try not to think about him either because his face still haunts my dreams.
Whether it be him smiling or the smirk he wore when he died.
I shake the thought from my head as I placed my hand on Simon's neck.
"Listen, how about I come over tonight and make supper, give you a break."
He smiles and nodded before biting his lip.
"But be there on time or I'll start making it without you."
I chuckle shaking his head, knowing good and well he isn't joking when he says that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the strong aroma of coffee filled your senses, the chattering of people, you walked towards the counter, "the usual please," you said with a smile before walking to your favourite spot in the cafe.
"all alone gorgeous?"
you looked up from your laptop to see a stranger standing by your table with a nasty smirk on his face.
"nope, I have someone coming." rolling your eyes as you replied, you turned back to your laptop and continued typing away.
"excuse me, could you stop bothering her," it was enna! by the sound of her voice, it was obvious she was holding herself back from lashing out at the stranger.
"chill out dude, I was just tryna help them, they looked hella stressed," with that, the stranger walked away, mumbling a string of profanities.
"thanks enna, he just kept on babbling while I was trying to finish up my presentation," you complained, taking a sip of your coffee before shooting enna a grin.
she seems to be staring intently at your chest, more specifically at the necklace you had on. "you know, I've known you for years but you never told me about that necklace, wait hold on, I forgot I need to order," enna laughs as she gets up to buy a drink.
you stared down at the necklace, holding it gently in your fingers, there was a few scratches on it but you tried your best to maintain it. despite how long you've owned it, you could never look at the necklace without thinking about him.
it seems as if the scenes of shu standing at your doorstep was still fresh in your mind.
the two of you stared at each other, not exchanging any words. without saying anything, shu reaches to you, bringing you into a warm embrace. his light cologne filled your senses, you could hear his heart beating rapidly. you nervously wrapped your arms around his torso. "I feel the same way," he finally speaks his voice cracking a little, still hugging you tightly. "r-really?" you asked. he pulled away from you, his hand moving upwards, holding your chin gently in his hand. "c-can I?" he stuttered, his face flushed. you nodded nervously before his lips met yours. it was a short peck but it felt as if time had stopped for you.
that was the last time shu saw you. he was so heartbroken when you and your family suddenly disappeared, there was a new family living at where used to be your home. he only got an answer when he asked your friends. "(Name) moved to Canada," his world just came crashing down when he heard those words.
why didn't you tell him anything? you were just keeping this whole thing to yourself? was that why you wrote him that letter? he wished he had told you how he felt sooner, maybe he could've brought you to places, to have cheesy dates. but that was all thrown out the window. he wanted to feel angry, to feel upset at you for not telling him even after you left. but he knew he could never bring himself to have such negative emotions towards you.
you on the other hand packed all your things while crying. looking through your old photo books, there was a polaroid of shu and you at some karaoke place singing your hearts out together. then there was another one of the two of you dressing up for halloween night. you didn't know how to tell him, you were moving. you were so stupid, maybe if you had told him, he wouldn't have been so heartbroken. but you chose to keep it to yourself.
"hey, you there? are you dead or something," enna waved her hand around, waking you up from your thoughts.
"yeah, I'm all good," you sniffed a little, bringing a hand up to wipe away a tear that threatened to slip.
"yo were you having a moment, sorry man" she laughed, taking a sip of her tea.
"sorry enna, I gotta rush to my meeting or I'm gonna be late, enjoy your tea by the way," you finished up your coffee, packing your things before leaving.
-
you finally ended work, it was only 6pm and you felt like a wreck. when you got home and took a shower, you saw a notification from youtube, it was ennas stream. you clicked into her stream, you rarely watched her streams but you thought this was a good chance to support your friend.
it was a collab stream with a few other people, you listened to them play monopoly as you cooked dinner.
you immediately stopped cooking when you heard someone say, "shu". the person who replied sounded so similar to him, except his voice was a bit deeper. you looked at your phone screen, examining "shu's" chibi avatar which looks similar to him.
"oh shit!" your food was burning, you realized you spent too much time watching the stream.
-
right after you ate, you went to check out his channel. shu yamino, was his name. you tapped into his channel, there was a huge amount of livestreams, you watched a couple of his archives. he was just like the shu you knew, except maybe a bit more confident now.
he seems so much happier now, he does what he loves. but you? you work a 9-5 office job, constantly stressed, no lovelife whatsoever. or maybe you just couldn't move on.
-
"I want a one week leave."
your boss stared at you, puzzled. "now? you know that we have a lot of clients to answer, if you wanted one you should've called in earlier." he was irritated, you were one of his best workers, always completing your work on time, never once came late to work and even made deals with several difficult clients.
"well, it's urgent, I've been working my ass off for the past 2 years and I have never once asked for a break." you tried not to lose your patience, your fingers digging into your palm.
"fine, I'll find someone to cover for you," your boss sighed, grabbing his phone to call someone.
you thanked him bitterly before leaving.
-
you've arrived back to your hometown. the area looked almost the same, just some changes in places like the playground. it kinda hit you that you argued with your boss for a leave just to visit your hometown and shu.
it felt so nostalgic walking through the roads that you used to take everyday with shu to school. he only lived a few houses past yours so you both always walked each other to school. it felt like it was just yesterday discussing with shu about what you wanted to do, about your hopes and dreams while walking home. at that time, it was almost sunset, you could remember vividly how gorgeous he looked under the golden light of the sun.
and there you were, right outside his house. this front yard looked the same, only a few additions of new potted plants. you prayed silently to yourself that he hasn't moved yet as you walked towards his door.
your finger hovered above the doorbell, contemplating whether you should press it. what if he doesn't want to see you? I mean you pretty much abandoned him right after you confessed your feelings to him. you must've broke his heart. despite all the years that has passed, you've never once forgotten him. neither have you lost for feelings for him, sometimes you'd find yourself thinking about him and all the memories you both shared.
taking a deep breath, you ringed his doorbell.
you waited a short while for someone to get to door. but when you finally heard the door unlock, you knew there was no going back. the door swung open and there stood shu yamino.
he's grown so much taller since the last time you've seen him.
"(N-Name)?" his eyes were blown wide open, he couldn't believe it, you were standing right at his door.
tears welled up in your eyes as you pulled him in for a hug. "I'm sorry," you cried into his chest. "I'm sorry I left you," you said in between sniffles.
"I missed you," he mumbled, one arm was snaked around your waist while the other was gently stroking your head.
-
"I-I'm sorry I got your shirt all wet..." you grumbled, you were now both awkwardly sitting beside eachother on the couch.
"it's okay, I don't mind," he smiled, it was still the same smile, throughout all these years he still had the same smile.
"so, how have you been?" you asked, fiddling with the hem of your shirt.
"I'm doing fine." he replied, the atmosphere was thick. you stared at the floor, it's not like you weren't expecting this, you left him for years and then suddenly came back, you both can't just act like nothing happened.
"shu, I'm sorry. I know whatever I say now cannot change the fact that I messed up badly but I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to tell you I was leaving right after I told you how I felt about you. I understand if you don't feel the same way about me but I-I've never lost any of my feelings towards-" he cut you off completely by grabbing your chin and twisting your face towards him. his lips met yours. it was that feeling again, the same feeling you felt years ago, the butterflies your stomach and your cheeks felt like they were on fire.
he pulled away, "s-sorry, I don't know what came over me," shu looked away in embarrassment after what happened.
you started laughing, "still the same as ever," he turned back to you with a sheepish grin on his face.
"now, can I finally take you on an official date?"
You’re My Home
(or All I Ask Part 2)
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Cam,” you sang over your shoulder to the smiling building secretary as you made your way out of the high school. You got into your car and started heading home, pausing only to indulge in a sugary frappuccino on the way. As you drove, you planned out the rest of your evening- grading papers and nursing the half empty bottle of red wine you’d started drinking last Friday after yet another failed date, a typical Wednesday evening.
Or so you thought.
Your heart had physically leapt into your throat, it must’ve, because something was pressing against your trachea and not allowing you to bring air into your lungs. Your car angrily beeped at you as it came to an abrupt stop, narrowly avoiding a fender bender thanks to the automatic brake feature.
That man arguing with a shorter blonde male in the middle of the sidewalk, his foot pinning down a squirming and protesting brunette, was undoubtedly your first and only love. He was older, obviously, his jawline sharp where it was once soft with youth, and a smattering of grey in his dark locks; he was taller, broader, bigger, but you knew in the very depths of your soul that that was Steve- your Steve- standing just twenty feet away from you. Involuntary tears blurred your vision as you hastily pulled over to the curb, throwing your hazards on and stumbling out of the vehicle.
“Steve?” you croaked out, not daring to believe that he was here, over a decade later, standing on the very sidewalk where he’d taken you on your first date- out for ice cream and a sunset stroll on the beach after your biology final in eighth grade.
He turned toward the source of the voice calling his name, eyes widening almost comically as his gaze fell upon you.
And then he was running to you, calling out “Book him, Danno!” as he narrowly avoided the path of an incoming car speeding across the intersection, ignoring the driver’s curses and his partner’s indignant cries because he hadn’t heard your voice calling his name in god knows how many years but it was a sound he would never, could never forget.
He picked you up in his arms, your legs wrapping around his middle and your mouth molding to his like a puzzle piece slotting into its carefully crafted space. Kissing him was fire and ice, it was stars colliding, it was a distant memory, a dream, a miracle, it was coming home.
“Steve,” you breathed out, clinging to him, scared that if you let go the universe would whisk him away again. “How…?”
“I’ve been on the island for two months, working a task force for the Governor,” he explained softly, one hand cradling your head, the other caressing your back, the motion so familiar to him and the feeling of his hands so familiar to you that you were overcome with emotion. It was like both an eternity and no time had passed at all, like you were simultaneously here in the moment and back in his childhood home, recalling his gentle touches and sweet musings on the last night you spent together.
“I never thought I’d see you again,” you confessed, running your hands over his face, not daring to close your eyes for fear this was all some sort of sick dream.
“I thought you’d moved away, moved on, for sure,” he sighed out, stealing a quick glance to your left hand. You felt his heart beat pick up a few paces at the sight of your bare ring finger. “You didn’t…?”
You shook your head, feeling a few tears trickle down your cheeks. “I told you, Five-0,” the old nickname referencing his high school jersey brought a grin to his face that rivaled the sun itself, “I’d never love anyone the way that I loved- still love, you.”
He let you slide down his body, easing you to the ground carefully but still maintaining skin to skin contact. That sweet, goofy grin remained plastered to his face as he challenged conspiratorially, “Guess what I named my task force.”
“Tell me,” you whispered softly, tilting your face up to admire his beautiful blue eyes.
“Uh uh,” he shook his head. “You have to guess.”
You hummed, angling your head back and forth as if in deep thought. “Let’s see… ‘Steve’s Angels’. No, wait, I got it- ‘The M Team’?”
“Good to see you’re still a clown,” he chuckled appreciatively before growing serious. “It’s ‘Five-0’. It’s my way of reminding myself why I do what I do everyday. To make the world a little safer for the people I care about.”
“Oh Steve,” you sighed, feeling your heart soar with all the love you’d been holding onto for this man for over a decade. “There’s so much I need to tell you, so many things I’ve wanted to share with-”
“Hey!” You were cut off abruptly by the blonde you’d seen earlier now strutting up to the two of you, having delivered their charge into what you assumed was an undercover police vehicle. “What’s the matter with you, huh? I had to chase that son of a bitch down four blocks to arrest him- again!”
“Exercise is good for you, Danno,” Steve responded with a cheeky grin. “Besides, I had a very good reason,” he defended his actions, pulling you into his side and squeezing your waist. “This is Y/N. Y/N, this is Detective Danny Williams, my partner in crime and lesser half- in stature and status.”
Danny’s eyes widened at Steve as he processed his words, then narrowed in a glare, then widened again as he glanced back and forth between you two, choosing to let the jab slide- this time. “This- This is the Y/N, the love of your life, the one that got away?”
“This is my girl,” Steve nodded, pressing a kiss against your temple, the pride and love in his voice making you grateful that his arm was around you lest you float away in your dream state. “And I’m never letting her go again.”
After a decade and change of making it through the minutes, hours, days without the other half of your soul, you finally felt complete. Despite never having left the island, you felt like you’d come home.
Because you would never love anyone else the way you loved Steve McGarrett.
Riley stepped off the plane and inhaled the crisp morning air. Autumn in Cordonia was always her favorite. The bite of the slightly chilled air felt amazing. Especially after the heat of Texas in the summer.
“How the hell is it this hot in September?” Riley groused as she pulled at her dress.
“Sorry, babe.” Drake told her, “Sometimes fall skips Texas altogether.”
“How is that possible?” She blinked up at him.
“One night you go to bed sweating and the next morning you wake up cold.”
Riley’s eyes slid to Savannah who raised her shoulders, “He’s telling the truth.”
Her eyes tracked back to her husband to find him studying her, his soft brown eyes filled with concern, “Are you okay? Is the baby okay? Do you need to go back inside? We can postpone this.”
“Fuck no, Walker. We’re doing this thing!” Her entire mood shifted when she looked into his face, “Let’s go get re-hitched!”
Her hand was in his as they made their way through the airport, her eyes slightly unfocused as her mind whirled with details about getting Valtoria ready for the baby, his locked firmly on her wondering what she was thinking about.
Liam probably.
They had spent four months, the entirety of the summer, in Texas and there had been no communication between the king of Cordonia and the duchess of Valtoria.
He knew that wouldn’t, couldn’t, last.
Riley caught a glimpse of two members of the King’s Guard as Drake helped her into the back of the car that would take them home.
She sighed as leaned back into the plush leather upholstery of the limo. Of course.
Liam already knew they were back. Nothing had ever been on her terms.
That was about to change.
She had thought that letting herself fall fully in love with Drake would have done something to diminish her feelings for Liam. But the truth was she'd been falling for Drake for years, slowly, almost imperceptibly and it had done nothing to even dull the edges of her love for the man that had shattered her.
Liam had broken her heart, but he had also opened it up in the first place, he had swept her off her feet as well as sweeping her feet out from under her.
He was her first real love, and her first real heartbreak, he could make her feel like the only person in the world and also like the most insignificant one. Being with him had brought her to the highest highs and lowest lows of her life.
Her feelings for Liam were complicated.
She stared out the window as they drove, watching the reds and oranges of falling leaves.
Drake sat next to her. Her hand was still clasped in his.
She turned her head and gave him a smile.
Her feelings for Drake were simple.
~~~~~
Riley groaned in protest as a persistent ringing slowly penetrated the fog of her sleep clouded brain. “Who the hell is calling you at this hour?” she grumbled irritably as she rolled toward Drake.
“It's not my phone.” he said, his tone guarded.
She cracked her eyes open to give him a baleful look. She envied him his ability to come immediately and completely awake on a moment's notice no matter how little sleep he had. Occupational hazard he had told her, first from the military, then later from being in the Royal Guard.
He had loved being in the Guard. Something else he had given up to marry her, become a duke and devote his life to ruling.
She fumbled for her phone in the dark. “Hello? Liam?” She pulled the phone away from her ear to check the time. What the hell? “Do you know what time it is? Are you…are you drunk?”
Drake swung his legs over the edge of the bed and reached for his clothes, grabbing his underwear and pajama bottoms from the pile in the floor where they had been carelessly tossed just hours earlier.
“Hold on a minute,” Riley said into the phone, then to her husband, “where are you going?”
“To give you a little privacy.” he replied.
She sat up shaking her head as she reached for him, “No, you don’t have to. Drake, please-“
“Hey,” he told her as he leaned over and ran his fingers through her hair before placing a kiss on her forehead, “It's okay. I'll be right back.”
He had known that eventually Liam was going to make an appearance.
He hadn’t expected it to be a drunken two a.m. phone call on their first night back but here they were.
Riley watched him walk out of their bedroom as she held the phone to ear.
“He can't take my place Riley, and you know it!”
“Hello to you too.”
“Remember when you told me you loved me forever? You can't be serious about this!”
“I can’t be serious about what, Liam?” Anger burned the last vestiges of sleep away.
“Any of it! Is it mine, Riley?”
“Is what yours?”
“The baby! It’s mine, isn’t it?” He demanded.
She snorted, “No, Your Majesty, it’s fucking not so you don’t have to worry about your precious public reputation!”
“No, that’s not what I….” On the other end of the line, Liam squeezed his eyes shut as pain shot through him. He had wanted it to be his.
Which begged the question, why hadn’t he agreed to have a baby with her sooner; while there was still time, still a chance for them? Why hadn’t he just given her what she wanted?
Regret, pain and desperation surged through him, but what came out of his mouth was a snarl, “I want a paternity test!”
“Oh yeah? Really? The press would have a field day with that, wouldn’t they?” She’d gone from angry to livid.
How fucking dare he try and act like he gave a shit now. This baby was Drake’s. This baby was hers! Her pregnancy was the first thing in six years that she had done for herself and goddamned if he was going to tarnish that.
“I don’t give a fuck about the press, Riley! This is about us! You and me!”
“Since when is the press not a consideration in any discussion about us, Liam, huh?”
“I have a right to know if I have a child, Riley!”
“You do have a child, with your wife! Or did you forget about that?”
“You know what I mean! If this baby is mine-“
“Then what, Liam? Huh? What? If this baby is yours, you’ll ignore him, see him a few times a year? Keep his existence a secret from everyone? Make him feel worthless and unloved just like you did to me?”
“Riley….” Was he crying? “I never meant to make you feel that way…I’m sorry…please…”
“Please what?” Now they were both crying.
“I can’t do any of this without you….”
“You’ve been doing everything without me just fine for six years!”
“No, I haven’t! You don’t know what it’s been like for me not being able to be with you like I want to be!”
Her mouth fell open, “I don’t know what it’s been like for you? Are you fucking kidding me right now?”
“Riley….please….”
“I’m done with this conversation. Go to sleep, Liam. Don’t fucking call me again until you can do so sober!”
She ended the call, tossed the phone to the side and drew her knees up to her chest. She wrapped her arms around them and dropped her head onto them. She let the tears flow freely down her face as she sobbed quietly.
She wasn’t sure how long she’d been sitting like that when she heard her husband’s voice.
“You okay?”
She lifted her head to find Drake standing in the doorway, a tray loaded with food in his hands.
“What’s all this?” She asked with a sniffle.
“Oh this?” He lifted the tray with a grin. He brought it to the bed and took a seat next to her, “Thought the baby might want a midnight snack.”
Her stomach growled. “I could eat.”
“Healthy food first!” He lifted half a turkey sandwich from a plate and held it out to her.
She giggled as she took it, “You’re too good to me.”
“Nah.” He smiled as he took the other half of the sandwich, “That’s not possible.”
Her eyes scanned the tray. It was loaded with all her favorite comfort foods. Fresh tears sprang into her eyes as her heart filled with love for this man.
His smile faded, “You want to talk about it?”
“These tears are good ones! I was just thinking how lucky I am to have you.”
“Yeah, right.” He scoffed, as he brought the sandwich to his mouth and looked away, “I’m the lucky one and everybody knows it.”
She laughed as she brushed the wetness from her face.
They ate in companiable silence for a while.
Drake regarded his wife thoughtfully as he chewed. She hadn’t chosen him so much as she had chosen herself, he understood that.
He knew that, on some level, what she had chosen was to not give Liam another chance to hurt and disappoint her. The choice had been between going to the palace that night, or going to Texas and everything that both places represented.
Choosing the palace meant choosing to continue the cycle of hurt and heartbreak with all the commiserate baggage and detritus. Riley had chosen to break free of all that.
And he was proud of her for it.
But he had no delusions that she and Liam were actually over.
~~~~~~
“I’m so sorry Your Majesty, but I…I can’t give you that information. You’re not on the approved list of people who have access to her itinerary.” Riley’s personal assistant squeaked. She looked like she wanted the earth to open up and swallow her.
His mouth fell open, “I am the fucking king! Who the hell does have access?”
“Her husband.” The girl flinched at the cold fury that crashed across the king’s features.
Even in his agitated state, he saw the irony. Was this karma?
Liam opened the door to Riley’s bedroom to find her crying in Drake’s arms. “What’s wrong? I came as soon as I got your message!”
“I…I just needed to see you…” She sobbed quietly as she moved from Drake’s embrace to bury her face in Liam’s chest. “My grandmother passed away this morning and I just needed to see you.”
“Oh, I’m so sorry my love.” He crooned gently as he stroked her hair, “Do you need help making the arrangements?”
She shook her head, “Drake already helped me with all that.”
Liam’s eyes flicked up to meet Drake’s. He should be grateful. Why did he feel angry about it? What he said was, “Thank you.”
Drake just nodded, his expression blank, unreadable.
“I’ll have the royal jet fueled and ready to go for you.”
“Already done.” Drake said.
Liam felt annoyance fill his chest again. He ignored his best friend as he asked Riley, “When are you leaving?”
She jerked back in surprise, “Me? You mean us? When are we leaving, right?”
“I’m so sorry, love. I can’t get away right now. If we were married, then of course, it would be expected. But if I cancel my diplomatic obligations to go with a ‘friend’ to a funeral, people will want to know why.”
“Oh. I hadn’t thought of that…” She knew he was right, but it still hurt.
“I’ll go with you, Riley.” Drake said quietly.
Fucking Drake.
Liam knew he should be grateful that someone would be there for her. He knew that Drake was just doing what he himself had asked him, no, begged him, to do.
He was being her husband.
The problem was that Liam wanted to be her husband and he found himself resenting Drake more and more as time went by.
Liam hated the way her body sagged with relief at Drake’s simple statement, the way her eyes lit up with gratitude as she thanked him.
“I’m sorry I wasn’t here sooner. Next time have my assistant page me.”
“I tried! She said that you weren’t to be disturbed and that she wasn’t at liberty to give out your schedule to just anyone. Just anyone Liam, that’s what I am now!”
“No!” He murmured into her hair as tears pricked at his own eyes, “You’ll never be just anyone to me. You’ll always be my everything.”
“Why are you harassing my assistant?”
He spun to find Riley had just entered the room. Her eyes were cold, her tone sharp.
“I wasn’t! I was just trying to find you!”
She said nothing as she made her way through the outer office and pulled open the door to her private office.
She didn’t bother to look back. He followed her into the office and closed the door behind them.
“What are you doing here, Liam?”
“We need to talk.”
“About what?”
He gaped at her, “What do you mean about what? About us! I’ve been trying to give you space, Riley, but it’s been six months! Six fucking months with no word from you at all!”
“I didn’t choose you, Liam, remember? And you didn’t call.” She tossed the stack of folders she’d been carrying onto her desk.
“What?”
“I didn’t show up at the palace that night, and you didn’t call me to find out why. Not that night, not the next day, not the day after that, not-“
“I fucking called you the day you got back to Cordonia!”
“You drunk dialed me, Liam! And even that was four months after the fact!”
“Oh, I’m sorry for not calling you the next day to ask how you were enjoying fucking my best friend! Which, you’d already been doing behind my goddamned back for god knows how fucking long in the first place, right?”
“Fuck you, Liam. Why are you here?”
“How long?”
“Excuse me?”
“I said,” Liam’s jaw was clenched so tight his teeth might shatter, “How long were you fucking Drake behind my back?”
“None of your fucking business.”
“How is it not my business, Riley?”
“By virtue of the fact that you married another woman, Liam!”
“You know damn good and well I’m not in love with her and I’m not sleeping with her!”
“You slept with her once.”
“Once! Literally once, Riley!”
“Yeah, well, I’ve slept with Drake a lot more than once!” She regretted the words the moment they left her lips.
She had wanted it to hurt.
Liam stumbled back like he’d been hit.
Bullseye.
“Liam, I’m sorry….” She stepped forward and reached a hand out to caress his cheek.
He took her hand from his face and pulled her closer. His heart beat wildly in his chest, his breath came in deep gulps as he stared into her eyes, searching for something, anything to indicate she still loved him.
She had fucked his best friend.
She was his best friend.
She had chosen another man over him.
He had chosen another woman over her first.
She had put a knife squarely through his heart, and his back.
He loved her.
She might not love him anymore.
He loved her.
She made him hurt like he had never hurt in his life.
He loved her.
He could fix it all.
He wrapped his arms around her and attacked her lips with his. He felt her go stiff in his arms for a fraction of a second, then her body relaxed, and she kissed him back.
She kissed him back.
She still loved him.
As the kiss deepened, and heated, his hands stared to roam across the familiar curves and valleys of her body. Every inch of it as familiar to him as his own.
Until he felt the unfamiliar and new curve of her stomach under his palm.
Right. She was pregnant.
With Drake’s baby.
He pulled his hand away like it had just been scorched and stepped away from her.
He struggled to get his emotions in check before he met her gaze again.
“It doesn’t feel good, does it?” She challenged.
“What?”
“Seeing the person you love have a child with someone else.”
“No.” He answered, his voice clipped.
“I’m happy, Liam.” She said as she cradled her bump, “I’ve always wanted to be a mother, you know that.”
“But it was supposed to be us!”
“I know.” She said softly.
A little sadly?
“But it wasn’t.” She continued, “And it was never going to be.”
“I just needed a little more time!” He insisted.
“It’s been six years!” She yelled.
The angry retort that leapt to his lips died there as he took in her demeanor.
She was angry, but she was also hurt.
He had hurt her.
Badly.
And he had been completely blind to it.
“You’re right.” He admitted in defeat.
“I know I’m right.” Despite her best efforts, hot, angry tears gathered in the corners of her eyes.
“I’m sorrier than I can ever tell you.” He took a step toward her.
She stepped away.
“Can we go somewhere and talk about this? Please? Let me take you to dinner.”
“Maybe another time, Liam. I can’t tonight.” She said his name so formally, so coldly.
Liam. She used to call him her king.
“Why?”
“Because I told Drake I'd be home for dinner tonight.” She wiped the tears from her face as she moved behind her desk and started gathering up paperwork.
Liam’s jaw clenched, “So, you're letting him control you now?”
“What?” She looked up at him in surprise, “No! It's not about that!”
“What’s it about then?”
“Common fucking courtesy, Liam!” She shoved the papers into her attaché case furiously as she spoke, “He didn't ask me to be back at any certain time, he made no demands upon my time! He never does! But I said I'd be back at a specific time, and I intend to keep my word! I'm not going to have him sitting there watching the clock waiting for someone who doesn't show up! I know what that feels like, and I won’t do that to him!”
“Can't you just call him and tell him plans have changed?”
“Is it really that simple Liam?”
“Yes, it’s really that fucking simple, Riley!” He yelled.
She pressed her lips together in a tight line as enmity filled her eyes. Her voice was low and seething with barely contained hostility when she asked, “Then why did you never do it?”
~~~~
Drake and Max were catching up, having predinner drinks at Valtoria while waiting for Riley to return from a late meeting when a floral delivery arrived.
Drake signed for the flowers and closed the front door. Max followed him to the kitchen where he sat the vase carefully on the counter.
The flowers and gifts had been arriving daily for weeks, ever since Liam’s unexpected appearance at her office.
“So, he isn’t giving up, I see.” Max observed.
“Nope.”
Max spotted a red velvet jewelry case on the counter. He flipped the lid open curiously then let out a low whistle, “Wow, Drake, that fucking necklace is worth more than everything you own!”
 “Probably.” Drake shrugged.
“That doesn’t bother you?”
“No.”
“Why not? I think it would bother me.”
“Because it doesn't matter. If he doesn't figure out that material things aren't what she needs or wants he isn’t going to get very far.”
Max gave him an appraising look, “And you give her what she needs?”
“Damn straight I do!” He sounded confident, sure, a man with no doubts.
Riley plucked the box out of his hands, her face lighting up, “What is it?”
“I don’t know.” He replied carefully, “It’s not from me.”
“Oh.” Her face fell as she unwrapped it.
She cracked the box opened and stared down at the glittering jewels, sparkling sapphires surrounded by brilliant diamonds. It had to have cost more than the palatial estate they were currently standing in. Which Liam had also given her.
But his money wasn’t what she wanted.
Her face betrayed no expression as she snapped the lid closed and tossed it onto the counter.
Looking up at her husband, the smile returned to her face, “So, what do you want for dinner?”
“Riley, don’t you think we should talk about-“
“There’s nothing to talk about, Drake. Unless you want to help me pick out a stroller. I am seriously torn between three different ones, and I could use some help deciding.”
“Okay.” He gave up. She would talk to him about it when she was ready and not a moment before. He knew her well enough to know that.
~~~~
Liam kicked the closest piece of furniture, sending it skittering across the sitting room.
It had been weeks since his argument with Riley and she still wasn’t returning his calls.
“What did the ottoman do to you?” Madeleine asked, a note of amusement in her voice.
Liam’s head jerked up in surprise. He had thought he was alone in the room. He took in his wife’s appearance. Her perfectly coifed hair, her flawlessly applied makeup, her ramrod straight posture.
Why couldn’t he just love her? It would make everything so much easier.
But he didn’t and it wouldn’t matter if he did. She didn’t love him either.
His days were filled with meetings, political agendas, business, diplomacy, and considerations of the crown.
His nights were filled with torment.
He drowned his sorrows in bourbon.
His dreams were haunted by the smell of lilac and lavender and by the memory of dark tresses and soulful ocean blue eyes.
It had always been that way, ever since his wedding, but now that she wasn’t speaking to him, it was infinitely worse.
He missed her. He missed the soft, velvet touch of her hands, the lyrical sound of her voice, the way butterflies erupted in his stomach every time she smiled at him.
At least before he had known that he would see her again, would hold her again, would be loved by her again. Even if those stolen moments had been few and far between.
The ache in his chest coiled tighter around his heart as he considered, for the first time, that he truly might never touch her again. His heart split open at the thought of having actually lost her.
“It’s Riley.” Slipped from his lips before he thought better of it.
“Oh?” Madeleine regarded him curiously, “Is something wrong?”
“She’s not speaking to me. She’s playing house with Drake, for real and she….she’s pregnant.” He saw the alarm on his wife’s face and headed off her question, “It’s not mine.”
“Ah.”
Not that he had expected sympathy. “Ah? What’s Ah mean?”
“Nothing…just….It's been 6 years Liam, what's changed?”
“Riley's changed! She thinks I took her for granted! And now she’s ignoring me! I just want to make it right, but she won’t even talk to me!”
“Huh.” Madeline raised an eyebrow in consideration, “Well, good for her.”
“Good for her?” He stared at his wife in astonishment.
“Yes, Liam. Good for her! Is she right? Have you been taking her for granted? Have you prioritized her in any way?”
He stared at her in astonishment, “I thought you, of all people, would understand why I’ve made the choices I’ve made! The optics! The press! Public-“
“Oh, cut the shit, Liam.” Madeleine fixed him with a soul piercing stare, “Cordonia's future is secure. We’ve given them an heir and you’ve been a good king. Your approval ratings are high. The country is thriving. What’s your real issue?”
He gaped at her, “Aren’t you worried about a scandal?”
“I was.” She admitted, “But not so much anymore. I think the goodwill we’ve built can weather it if the affair came to light. Besides, none of it would touch me. I’d be the injured wife. The only negative blowback would be to your public image. Is your male ego so fragile that you couldn’t handle a little dirt on your name for the woman you love?”
“That….that….that’s not it at all!” He sputtered.
“Then what is it?”
“I wasn’t just protecting the image of the crown; I was protecting her! I was shielding her from being dragged through the mud again and cast as a homewrecker!”
“Did you ask her if she wanted your protection from that?”
“What?”
“It was a simple question, Liam. Did you let her in on what you were doing or is this coronation night all over again?”
“I….” His perception of the last six years shifted.
He was an idiot.
A colossal, massive, world class idiot.
↳ from Go! Go! Gogatsu Event!
Tumblr media
All he wanted was to wake up in bed, next to you— who would cuddle deeper in his arms even in slumber so he'd smother you with his kisses and tighten his hold around you and drift back to sleep longer, finally free of responsibilities for once and enjoy quality time with his only favorite person. But instead he wakes up with a groan passing through his lips, supporting his back side with his hand while shuffling to his side in a different position as the light sun rays shun through the window blinds, softly fanning his eye and forehead.
Gojo chuckles a bit before wincing. His lower back so tensed that he feels himself get older by the day. Pouting at the empty space next to him, he palms the cold sheet in wonder of where you are. Up so early in the morning when you could've just stayed in for him. How annoying. His eyes shut for moment when the scent coming from outside the room intruded his senses. Ah, you must be cooking breakfast. How sweet of you.
Thank goodness it wasn't another batch of dried crackers or cup of noodles that'll enter his mouth. He was never one to cook meals when he was on solo or when you weren't around. The very thought of not only the meal was awaiting for him outside, but also you excites him that it made him feel tingly inside. Call it dramatic, yeah, but it's not every day someone gets to wake up and immediately feel this full of love in the morning. You were the only and last love he's ever wanted to have in this world. It was so surreal even to him.
Sighing before pushing himself up, Gojo yawns out the remains of drowsiness in his system and stands. He didn't bother wearing a shirt since last night, claiming that he misses how his body rubs off yours in both comforting and suggestive ways. Plus it was just you and him home, he'd rather walk naked than wear the usual long sleeved uniform on a warm day.
The scent of coffee got stronger as he closes in his journey towards the kitchen. There was faint sizzling coming from the pan as you stood there in attendance. Stuck in your own little world, swaying to the sound of the radio playing, U got Me by Yung Heazy. It was one of the few songs that reminded you of Gojo back when you were both high schoolers. The exact song you remembered playing when you both hung out on a small cafe in Tokyo. Where he was so flustered, attempted to hide his blushes with his round glasses. The little things that reminded you of that memory never fails to make your heart race.
Of course Gojo knows this one as well. Because it was on that date as well he had call you, "his" after masking his embarrassment and from obviously checking you out every minute. How could he contain himself? He was a young man who was having trouble in the arts of love. Nevertheless he was glad to have grown up from those years. If his younger self could see him now, he'd be gagging at the sight of a softer version of his older self.
Snaking his arms around your torso carefully to avoid surprising you, he places his chin above your shoulder. Salivating at the sight of thick bacon in deep frying, shamelessly letting you know he was hungry from the sound of his stomach growling. "This is a nice way to greet me." you smile at the man behind you, who had his eyes closed in delight while rubbing his cheek against yours like a cat in need of attention. "Good morning to you as well, sweet cheeks." he says after  pressing a kiss on your skin.
"You got up early." whining softly, his hair and nose tickling the side of your neck and shoulder, "I was hoping to stay longer y'know?" trailing his hands underneath the his shirt you were wearing, mapping out on all the skin he could squish and hold with his large palms. Noticeably pressing himself closer to your body, the much needed space gone but you weren't complaining. After all, this was Gojo, a man who knows no boundaries.
"I wanted to make breakfast for you. We haven't had one together since we're both busy." you say as you grabbed the nearby plate, turning off the stove as the now cooked meal sizzles softly from the pan before sliding down to the porcelain surface. In attempt to lick his lips at the now prepared food, his tongue grazes upon your skin, sending you to jolt a bit, hearing the joyous laughter from him as he places a kiss on the spot as an apology.
"W-why don't you go sit down, there's rice bowls and cooked eggs prepared already." stammering, you quickly excused yourself away from his embrace to clean out the mess from the counter. Gojo sighs out the adoration but obliges to your command. Not long after you had finally settled down in front of him. Seeing him in all smiles as he scarfs down on his food made you smile as well. Thank goodness his blindfold was off, they looked adorable twinkling in happiness.
This felt nice. To have an opportunity to be a normal couple once again. So many times you could only daydream of scenarios like this. He could say the same as now that you were present on the usual spot he'd come home to empty. Often dozing off during meetings thinking of where you were or how you were, the multiple times Megumi has fed up with his whining about how he never gets to see or have more time with you. Nobara even pointed out a fact saying, "You act as if you're both married." and Yuuji, being the happy child of the three had said something that always ponder in his mind, "Why don't you marry each other yet, sensei?"
It was a statement he's been considering for a long time. Marriage. Of course Gojo wanted to marry you after years of torment love. To have his precious students say that you both already looked as if you were married got him all heart racing, and very very happy. He's had vivid images of a life with you. Not far from what it is today, but imagine. Unlimited happiness after so long of fearing it. Perhaps maybe even tiny legs running around, giving him such big love as his grows for the family he's craved, watching you smile beside the doorway and calling them in for a meal.
If marrying you means he can have that every day, then the hell with it.
"You look like my wife."
The spoon drop echoes. Slowly his face erupted into a faint blush while staring back at your widened eyes and opened mouth. "What?" gulping down the stuck food in your throat, Gojo bites his lips watching you maintain your composure. So cute. "Y-you know you say funny stuff when you're out of it. Maybe some daifuku would help? Yeah! Wait a sec." quickly getting up from your seat and rummaging in your fridge, you breathed out the heavy puff of air from your lungs.
He did not just say that so directly towards you. Maybe you were dreaming? You wouldn't be if your heart wasn't practically being forced out. Gojo is always fun and games, right? He doesn't mean that.
Sad to think of it that way.
"Ow!" thumping your head above the fridge as you grabbed some of the take outs of Daifuku you got yesterday, closing the fridge back before returning shortly to Gojo, who seemed as out of it as you were. "You did say your brain functions best when you eat sweets. Luckily for you I bought these yesterday. That's why I cooked earlier now because I wanted to try it out with you!"
Gojo can't tell if he wants to be offended at the fact that you think he was joking or just now, cover his half of his face to hide his laughter and igniting squeals. God he wished he had his phone right now, the moment was just so priceless and precious as you were.
"...ter"
Muffles from behind his hand was heard. Tilting your head to the side, trying to process what he said but no avail. "What was that?" you moved a little closer next to him, tapping his hand away almost eagerly. When he does, you spot that knowing smile present on his lips and the uncharacteristic blush still painted on his cheeks.
"Keep doing that and I'll marry you faster, honey."
You've gotten more shy when his hand held yours in the most loving way while drawing patterns. Searching through his eyes if he was playing around, but you were met with ones you know of when they were full of sincerity. "I-i. You know, they were so cheap anyways and I figured you'd want them." he snorts before leaning his head on your arm and laughs hysterically. It was painfully obvious that you were in state of shock that you couldn't even process his words.
Up until now the effect he has on you was still there like before.
"Sweetie." he turns his body away from the table to face you, pulling you so that you were standing in between his legs looking down shyly on the floor. "I'm serious." his fingers reached for your chin to pull your head up to meet his features. His other hand still holding your smaller one; index finger tracing your ring finger in circular motions as if he was creating a make believe ring.
He should thank himself for falling in love and be trusting once again.
Because now, staring back at your eyes filled with the same amount of emotions as his. Reciprocating the exact thing he was feeling. Waking up just to start the day already wanting him to be there. Knowing all the littlest things he's shared. Hearing the erratic sound of both of your heart beats.
He knew he's made the right choice.
"You really do look like my wife. My future."
“You know, I think curses spirits have emotions”
“Mother, what in the world are you talking about? They don’t have feelings, they kill without remorse and try to gain power from their greed”
“Y/N dear, how are curses formed?”
“Negative emotions that results in cursed energy leaking from the bodies of humans”
“See ‘emotions’ is in the sentence dear”
“‘Humans’ mother, you forgot the word ‘humans’ was also in the sentence”
Back then you had no idea what your mother was suggesting or saying at that time. Curses having emotions? What was that all about? You knew from previous missions that some curses were intelligent from being able to take hostages to some being able to talk but other than that you still couldn’t comprehend what she was trying to communicate to you.
“You know the Legend of Sukuna?”
Looking up from your book, you stared at your mother - who was sitting on the opposite end of the room with a cup of tea in her hands - with a somewhat nonchalant but surprised expression on your face wondering why she brought up such a topic that was feared by most jujutsu sorcerers
“You used to tell me about it when I was younger, why are you bringing it up now?” you asked curiously, as you closed your book before gently placing it on your lap.
“We all know that the curse was a human before his fingers became cursed objects, don’t we? How do you think he felt when he was killed?”
You were about to answer her before you shut your mouth completely, not sure on how to even answer that question. How could you? No one knows the whole story to even come to a conclusion for that question, you have to interrupt the story in your own way to make one yourself? Wouldn’t he have been enraged when he was killed, annoyed at the fact that he lost in a way? Or was he unsettled?
“Personally from my perspective, I think he would have been vexed at the fact that he somewhat lost, you mother?”
“I think the same as you, but I have a small feeling that he was upset for some reason, I’m not sure why though”
                                              ꕥ
You still have that assumption till this day. However, you were a little more open about your mother’s thoughts and took them into account sometimes when you were debating on the subject on your own. However, there was a slight shift in your opinion once Itadori Yuji unexpectedly came into your life.
The first time you meant the boy was when Gojo came back with him carrying him and Fushiguro back to Jujutsu high, confusing you completely on what was going on. For someone who was sent to just retrieve a cursed object, Fushiguro looked completely beat up and that worried you completely on what he had encountered during his time away. However, Gojo just couldn’t read the room.
“Yo Y/N, what is my favourite student doing at a time like this? It’s quite late you know,” he greeted you with a smile, before plopping Fushiguro on the ground.
“Sensei, now’s not the time to play with me, what the hell is going on?” you muttered annoyingly before using reserve curse energy to heal some of Fushiguro’s wounds.
After some time of your playful teacher explaining what was going on, you came to the conclusion that the boy ate the cursed object that Fushiguro was supposed to collect causing him to become Sukuna’s vessel as a consequence.
“So what you’re saying is that Fushiguro failed to get the object in the end,” you commented as you pointed at your close friend, leading to Gojo giving you an ‘okay’ sign telling you that you were technically correct.
“Was that all you got from the whole explanation Y/N?” Fushiguro irritatedly asked, causing you to lightly giggle before apologising to him.
                                              ꕥ
However, after that night, you made the decision to become friends with the teenager as you didn’t want him to feel completely isolated on his situation right now - he did leave everything behind to come to Tokyo - and with everything that was going to happen to him, you wanted him to live a happy life with people surrounding him before his execution after he ate all 20 fingers. What you didn't realise was this friendship would lead to you guys to have a sister and brother type of bond.
You and Itadori did everything together from going on missions together with Nobara and Fushiguro to randomly going out to do some shopping or showing him around Tokyo. As time went on, you decided to fully take in your mother’s opinion. You slowly included Sukuna in some of the activities that both of you would be participating in - usually this would involve you asking for his opinion on something, even if he sometimes gave a rude response.
“Do you think Sukuna is a pork or beef type of guy?” you randomly asked, as you lifted up your chopsticks that held a piece of cooked beef to Itadori’s cheek. “Sukuna, would you like to try this?” you kindly asked, leading to the curse to take a bite of the meat before his mouth disappeared like it didn’t appear in the first place.
“I never really asked, but why are you so kind to Sukuna? I mean he is a curse, after all, ain't sorcerers like you supposed to like, hate them?” Itadori asked in a confused tone, causing you to look up away from the meat that you were cooking to the boy that had asked you that question.
To be honest, you weren’t so sure how to answer his question, just like the same situation that you were years ago when your mother asked you that question. How could you answer this time around? How could you answer this question now?
“Personally from my perspective, I guess I took in some consideration towards anyone’s emotions,” you casually answered, before going back to the meat that was cooking on the grill, leaving Itadori confused yet somewhat understanding what you were trying to say.
                                             ꕥ
Sukuna on the other hand was confused about what you were trying to interrupt to his annoying vessel as he sat quietly in his Innate Domain. Ever since the beginning of your friendship with Itadori, you had been nothing but kind-hearted toward him making him wonder what your intentions were from the start. However, over time he began to discover that’s what you were naturally. You were naturally just a kind-hearted person that was trying to become acquainted with him. You were generally trying.
It was hard to recall the last time he had someone to confide in - if there was anyone he even confided in at all - you were someone that took his emotions into consideration, you always question his reason for power, greed and destruction, instead of assuming that he was born with his sadistic nature. He still remembers that time you were able to somehow get close to him during his fight with Fushiguro and heal Itadori’s heart with no issues at all - making him intrigued on how powerful your reserve energy was. However, he remembers what you said to him as your hand was placed on top of the wound on his chest.
“Listen, I have no idea what caused you to become the man that you are today, I have no idea what pain you went through before your death 1000 years ago, I have no idea what you are feeling right now and I’ll try my best to understand” you quickly stated just as your curse began to revive his heart, “but right now, there is no way in hell am I going to let you kill Itadori, you got that Sukuna!”
That. That caused his cold empty heart to suddenly become warm.
Your kind-heartedness was the reason he began to reach out to you.
He wanted to cherish that trait of yours.
You were kind-hearted.
bestie seb. i present to you my first thought dump for mr rhett abbott:
you were rhett’s first real relationship. he was so happy with you the first few weeks and then his feelings started to get bigger. he started to feel so many strong emotions and he realized he cared about you so much that it scared him, like a lot. so what did he do? the only logical thing in his brain. put on his stoic and cold exterior and breakup with you.
the part that hurt the most about the breakup for you was the rhett that ended things with you was not your rhett. your rhett spoke softly and his words flowed freely. the rhett that ended things with you talked to you with an icy demeanor and heavily calculated statements. yet here you are, six weeks after your breakup, your friends have finally dragged you out to the bar.
the same friends were on high alert because not long after y’all had made your entrance so did the man who broke your heart. they had been working tirelessly all night to keep him from crossing into your line of sight to preserve the happy mood you’ve finally settled into.
“i need to pee i’ll be right back.” they do a quick sweep to ensure rhett is not going to enter your peripherals on your trip to and from the bathroom and then say they’ll order you another drink in the meantime.
your self proclaimed bodyguards had clocked the way that rhett’s gaze rarely had left you since he came into the bar. the second he stepped in and his eyes adjusted to the dimly lit bar his eyes were like magnets drawn to you. yet he had kept his distance so they let their guard down with you gone in the bathroom, taking this time to just chat with each other without keeping their heads on a swivel. this, however, was their biggest mistake. rhett was very aware of the game of protector your friends were playing and when he saw them relax as you made your way down the hall to the bathrooms he knew this was his chance. he stood slowly, both out of caution of alerting your friends of his movement and as a response to the countless whiskeys he had consumed while watching you.
when rhett deemed he was in the clear, he did his best to quickly and swiftly follow the path you had taken.
you were just exiting the bathroom, having just spent the last five minutes crying because even though you were having a good time your heart was still aching and then trying to make it look like you hadn’t been crying, when rhett entered the hallway to the bathrooms and your gaze snapped up from the floor.
“hey sweet girl” rhett softly spoke with a tell tale slurring together of his words. he was drunk. but your heart fluttered after he spoke. his soft tone, it was your rhett, again. but you’ve listened to too many hours of breakup playlists to give in at just that, you couldn’t give him any special attention, it was your turn to turn cold, so you put on the best act you could.
“rhett.” that was all you could get out without giving yourself away. you spoke his name in a tone dripping in disinterest but your throat was hoarse from the sobs you just let out so there was your telltale, the gravel that shows up in your voice when you’ve been crying.
he noticed it. when he heard it, he took in your appearance carefully, your eyes were slightly puffy and no longer were framed in the mascara you had on when you left your friends. the two of you were at a standstill in the hall, rhett staring intently at you as he stood with a slight sway and an occasional shuffle, and you were avoiding meeting his gaze, arms folding across your chest, an attempt at closing you off from anymore heart ache from him.
“my sweet-my sweet girl, i miss you.” he spoke with a hiccup.
an immediate scoff passed your lips at the audacity of the man in front of you or at the audacity of your heart to skip a beat. that was it, you needed to get out of this hallway before your limited resolve crumbled.
“okay rhett, tell me that when you’re sober. now, if you’ll excuse me.”
not looking to stick around any longer, you push past him and walk quickly to your friends at the bar, you hurriedly tell them to close the tabs and then start filling them in once you are on the outside of the bar. ever the good friends, once they get you home they ask if you want them to stay with you for the night but you insist you’re fine and just want to go to sleep. which you did. until a knock at your door woke you up promptly with the sunrise.
you begrudgingly trudge to your door, not bothering to check who it is and expecting it to be your friends bringing coffee and breakfast to watch the sunrise and debrief. you were instead met with rhett. he was freshly shaven and showered, dressed in your favorite shirt of his, holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers, and looking at you with the uneasiest eyes. you open your mouth to hopefully find words to say to him but promptly shut it as he speaks, his voice has a nervous shake but is soft. your rhett speaks.
“i’m sober and i miss you.”
AAAAHHHHHH WHAT OMG MY HEART
the part that hurt the most about the breakup for you was the rhett that ended things with you was not your rhett. your rhett spoke softly and his words flowed freely. the rhett that ended things with you talked to you with an icy demeanor and heavily calculated statements. yet here you are, six weeks after your breakup, your friends have finally dragged you out to the bar.
AAAAAAH WAIT YOUR HEART??? WHAT ABOUT MINE??????? IM DYING OUT HERE BESTIE
that paragraph above had my whole heart flutter and then shatter to pieces in seconds because that is so painfully accurate to how rhett could be. but then on the flip side, when rhett realizes what he’s lost he knows he can’t loose anyone else so he’ll be there with a fresh shave and flowers in his hand to apologise. you bet your ass i’m gonna make him grovel though.
also, this whole piece is insanely written and i still cannot believe you send me this stuff, for free!!!!!!!! i love this and your writing so much and i’m so honored that i get to receive rhett thoughts now too <33
thank you so much for this bestie!! i could kiss you!! 💌
Undesired Vacancy (Fezco)
Tumblr media
Summary: There's a vacancy in his life where you'd typically sit after an argument over beating Nate Jacobs at the New Years Eve party. Pairing: Fezco x reader Inspired by: Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High by Arctic Monkeys Warnings: mentions of weed and alcohol, cursing, argument, mentions of Rue's overdose. Gif Creds: @euphoriabrasil
The mirror's image, it tells me it's home time But I'm not finished, 'cause you're not by my side And as I arrived I thought I saw you leavin', carryin' your shoes Decided that once again I was just dreamin' of bumpin' into you
Wiping his hands on the towel hanging from the wall, Fez meets his own gaze in the pristine mirror in front of him. His palms meet the cool granite of the counter, alleviating some of the pressure weighing on his shoulders with an exhausted sigh. He studies himself silently for a few moments, his cerulean eyes taking in all of the evident signs that he's worn out from the shitty week that had ensued, with a heavy mind. He's ready to tap out and ignore his responsibilities for the next three months to give himself time to recover.
"Shit man," he whispers to himself, dragging his phone out of his pocket long enough to shoot Ash a text.
To: Lil Tray Finish up whatever business you got goin on right now and let's get the hell outta here. Ima head to the car in a few.
With that, his phone is shoved back into his pocket and he's staring at the mirror again. It had been an off night, business was good as per usual, but the night felt like a dud without you lurking around, randomly popping in to keep him company. It's been days since he's seen you, yet the sting from the argument that lead to your vacancy still feels as strong as it did when your furied words pierced his heart a little too deeply just before you stormed out of the apartment and slammed the door. An exasperated sigh leave's Fez's lips as the moment of you shouting at him with tears rolling down your cheeks replays in his mind and he flinches as he remembers the sound of you slamming the door.
He'd gone into the party tonight worried and hoping that he'd see you, and he could've sworn he caught a glimpse of you sauntering out of the house with your shoes clutched tightly in your hands when he pulled up with Ashtray. Yet, just as quickly as he'd seen you, you were gone by the time he gave the front door a second glance, leaving him to believe that all the weed was finally getting to his head.
Now it's three in the mornin' and I'm tryin' to change your mind Left you multiple missed calls and to my message, you reply "Why'd you only call me when you're high?"
From: Lil Tray I’ve been in the car for 10 minutes, u good?
“Shit,” Fez mumbles again, shoving his phone in his back pocket, sparing one last glance at himself before pulling open the door, quickly making his way out of the house. Bidding people goodbye in passing, several familiar faces asking if he’s got anything they could snag before he heads out. They’re all waved off without a second glance as he beelines towards the door, ready to bask in the silence of the apartment, or numb himself with weed while Ash puts on his favorite show.
Fez doesn’t say anything in response to Ashtray’s questioning look when he climbs in the car. Instead, he greets him by dabbing him up before putting the car in drive and speeding down the road.
“Business was good. Pretty sure McKay’s friend group came to see me four times before the night was over,” Ash fills him in after several moments of silence, his eyes scanning over his brothers features to try to pinpoint the unspoken emotions that have Fezco white-knuckling the steering wheel in silence.
“That’s good Ash,” Fez shoots the younger boy a proud smile, sliding a leftover joint out from behind his ear, gladly accepting Ash’s offer to light it up. “You’re always kickin ass with the sales at these parties. You know ma would be proud.” Ash nods, clearly glad to accept the words Fez shared with him before shifting to look out the window to observe the familiar streets of their town.
Fezco’s thoughts inevitably trail back to you as the car whips past spots that hold memories with you, which is damn near every spot in town. It’s a rarity that you’re not curled up in the backseat tonight. You’ve spent more time with the boys than you have with your own family for as long as he remembers, which is why everywhere Fez looks poses as a reminder of you and makes him more aware that you aren’t around.
As tired as he is, he tosses and turns in his bed for hours after the party. The house felt too quiet and his bed felt too cold without you tucked into his side. With a disheartened sigh, he blindly reaches for his phone, squinting to make at the time while his eyes adjust to the brightness of the screen. 3 am, it read, adding the the annoyance eating at his chest.
To: My Girl Y/n, I know we’re both stubborn and are letting our pride get in the way of putting this shit behind us. We both said shit we didn’t mean, and I’m ready to let it go if you are. I miss you baby, please just…talk to me.
Fez huffs, letting his phone fall on the mattress next to him, silently praying that you’re awake and ready to talk. It doubtful, seeing as it’s a Friday night and you’re probably drunk with the girls, but he’s hopeful that he’ll be able to hear your voice before he falls asleep. He’s never left so many voicemails on someone’s phone, that’s the number one indicator that he’s down bad, but he chooses not to think about that too hard. The warning from his grandma about love wafts through his mind momentarily before wasting away, allowing room for other thoughts to take their place.
And I can't see you here, wonderin' where am I It sort of feels like I'm runnin' out of time I haven't found all I was hopin' to find
Fez isn't the type to spend his time hoping and waiting that things will look up in his favor, nor is he the typical type to spend his nights wondering if someone else is thinking about him too, but over the past few days, as soon as the lights are off and he's all alone, it's all he seems to be able to do.
As soon as the stars take over the sky, and his head hits the pillow, his mind starts wandering through endless fake scenarios and in which things are okay, in which the argument never happened, or he's dreaming about you knocking on his door crying and spilling a string of apologies into his chest.
He hates to admit it, but he's not even that upset about the way you're constantly running through his mind. It helps alleviate some of the hurt that he hasn't physically seen you because he's constantly meeting you in his thoughts, both of you saying all of the words needing to be said and everything in between.
Yet, the longer you remain silent, the more his hope depletes and the more your responses in his scenarios sound like his own voice trying to convince him that things are going to be oaky. Part of him thinks that you hit your breaking point with him and are refusing to reach out because you're finally done. Another part of him believes that the longer you stay silent, the more time is running out for the two of you to fix things. Yet, his typical thought process is consumed with believing that things are going to be okay, though his thoughts don't exactly do the best at convincing him that that's the truth.
You guys have fought plenty of times, but never like you did the other night. Neither of you are the type to lose control, but you both completely lost your cool and seemed to tear the other to shreds in the process.
"The problem is that you didn't think Fez, God I swear sometimes you just forget to think before you make rash decisions," you'd shouted trailing into the house behind him, haphazardly slamming the door behind you. Ashtray, who'd been tired of the tension and bantering on the way home from McKay's party, silently retreated to his room knowing Fez would appreciate the privacy.
"The hell is that supposed to mean," he'd grumbled, dumping the car keys on the kitchen table before facing you, eyebrows pulled together in a tight glare. "I didn't make any rash decisions, I did what I needed to do to take care of my family. I thought you, of all people, would understand that."
"How in the hell is beating Nate Jacobs to a pulp taking care of your family, Fez," you laughed in disbelief, "His dad owns half of the fucking town. What are we going to do when he comes after you? There's no way in hell Cal Jacobs is going to be sweet-talked out of trying to throw your ass in jail after this."
"Thank you so much for the vote of confidence, Y/n," Fez rolled his eyes, taking a swig from a beer you hadn't even realized he'd picked up. "I'm so glad to have your support."
"Don't you dare," you growled, eyes wide with a single finger pointed in his direction. "You know damn well I support you, you don't get to mock that now that you made a shitty choice. Not after all of the times I've went to bat for you."
"You make it sound like such a chore," he noted, putting his beer down on the counter. "If my lifestyle is such a burden to you, then why don't you just leave?" Fez silently cursed himself when his words registered in his head. Someone in their right mind doesn't just offer their girlfriend a ticket to walk out of their life. He's angry at her for not just being able to trust that what he'd done to Nate was for good reason, but he doesn't want her to leave.
"That isn't fair," you sighed, displaying a slightly betrayed expression. "You don't get to project how you think I feel onto me. I feel like I'm trying to be understanding here Fez, I'm just worried that you haven't thought about the repercussions this time." You'd silently tried de-escalating the conversation, wanting nothing more than to just climb to bed, but the dull ache in your chest told you that the conversation isn't close to being over.
"So what, I'm just supposed to watch Nate fuck with Rue and her friends without doin anything about it? Just because you're worried that his dad is going to talk?" Fez knew he was being unreasonable, but that didn't stop him from pushing the argument further. Maybe it was extra pent-up frustration that he'd walked out of the party while Jacobs still had a pulse or maybe it was the inkling in his mind telling him that you were right, but his pride wasn't willing to let you be right this time.
"Oh my god, why am I even trying," you laughed incredulously, pulling your hands through your hair in frustration. "It's always the same argument. It feels like we're just talking in circles here. Why is it that Rue is always the one you're willing to ruin your own safety and security for? Why does it always have to be your fight when it comes to her?"
"She's my family, Y/n. You know better than anyone else how I feel about taking care of my family," Fez tried reasoning, trying to get you to remember that he doesn't just beat people in cold blood without reason. "And I'm real tired of Jacobs feelin like he can stir shit up without any consequences."
"Okay but if you're all about taking care of your family, then why'd you keep feeding her addiction knowing fully well that she was barely treading water and losing control. You deal with enough addicts to know all of the warning signs, so if you're so concerned about her well-being, why do you keep fulfilling her need for drugs? Even after she nearly killed herself with the ones you sold her at the beginning of the summer," the rebuttal slipped out of your mouth before you could register what you were saying. The heat of the moment, the worry of impending repercussions of Fezco's actions, killing your ability to fully filter what was going to come out of your mouth. You faltered then, knowing you went too far, your entire demeanor shifting at the realization that you'd let the words you knew would hurt him slip.
Fez's jaw clenched, his beer discarded on the counter with a loud smack before his battered hands clenched into a fist. Rue's addiction was a touchy subject to Fez. A subject that you knew not to discuss unless it came up, fully aware of the weight Fez has carried ever since she overdosed at the beginning of the summer.
"I fucking knew you were holdin that over my head," he hissed, visibly growing more angry as the words fell off his tongue. "You really have the whole, sweet supportive girlfriend bullshit down to a T, ma. You've had us both so convinced that you're this sweet person that can never do anything wrong but it's bullshit. You're bullshit ma."
"Fez," you murmured, stepping towards him in hopes to fix the damage you'd done. You were just worried about him, you never intended for things to come here. "I don't hold it over your head. I swear I don't. It just slipped and-"
"You got to go, Y/n," he interrupted, crossing his arms over his chest without looking at you.
"What?" You breathed, tears welling up in your eyes at the clear hurt displayed on his face. "Fez please just-"
"Get the fuck out of my face and go," he shouted, sending you flinching into the counter behind you. The hurt transitioned into a furious glare, his cheeks tinted and angry pink as he pointed towards the door. "I don't want to look at you right now, ma. And I sure as hell don't want your lame ass excuses now that you know that you fucked up and aren't the perfectly pleasant little queen you crack yourself out to be. You clearly can't go a day without holding my lifestyle over my head, so go, cause things aren't changing any time soon."
You let those words sink in for a few moments before you said anything else, your heart heavy due to the weight and stresses the night had presented. "Okay," you sighed, wiping a single tear off of your flushed cheek. "But for the record, I don't hold anything over your head, I was just trying to understand because I'm worried about all of these seemingly rash decisions that don't seem like you. That don't seem like the guy I've grown to love." With that, you left without sparing him a second glance, slipping off the green sweater he'd let you borrow and dropping it by the door.
Fez remembers how that sweater had stayed where you left it since it had been carelessly dropped on the floor that day. He likes to keep the apartment tidy, but couldn't bare to move it, so it stayed there as a reminder of the words both of you dropped on each other that night. He inevitably cringes as he recounts the things he'd laid on you in anger, and he wishes you were there so he could flip them around. You are many things, but bullshit sure isn't one of them, lil ma.
He sinks further into the comfort of his bed, fully expecting for the rabbit trail of thoughts to continue unfolding, but his head shoots over in surprise at the sound of his text tone pinging through the silence.
Somewhere darker, talkin' the same shite I need a partner, well, are you out tonight? It's harder and harder to get you to listen More I get through the gears Incapable of makin' alright decisions, and havin' bad ideas
From: my girl My fingers have been itching to call you all night. Now it’s 3 am and I’m well past the point of making decisions I’m going to like in the morning. Seems like a good opportunity to talk while my heart is talking louder than my head. Wanna go for a drive?
A sigh of relief escapes his chest, his shoulders feeling three times lighter at the words displayed in the screen. His fingers immediately ghost over the keys as he drags himself out of bed, not bothering to change before he’s quietly exiting the house, shooting Ash a text in case he wakes up before he gets back. Fez drives down the open road with the windows down, holding his breath when your silhouette comes into view. You’re waiting for him at the stop sign down the road from your house like you always do. The car is in park long enough for you to climb in, neither of you bothering to say anything as he continues down the road in the direction of your usual late night spot.
He doesn’t have to look at you to know that you’re staring at him, fingers playing with the hem of the hoodie hanging off of your frame. Your eyes shoot to the window when he glances your way as if you’re embarrassed he caught you. The tension in the car is new for both of you, arguments being a rare occurrence in your dynamic. You open your mouth to speak, but close it when he puts the car in park, shifting so that you know you have his full attention.
“I meant what I said on the phone,” he begins, turning the radio down so he can hear you. The dim lamps in the abandoned parking lot cast a soft glow on your features, if things didn’t feel so awkward he would’ve pulled you into his chest and told you that you look beautiful. But he doesn’t. While you’re still his, your harsh words replay like symphonies in his head acting as a reminder that you guys have shit to work out.
“I know,” you hum, tugging your knees up to your chest with a sigh. “I’m sorry it took me so long to respond. It’s just, I know that what I said the other day was shitty and I’ve felt like I lost the right to apologize.”
“You haven’t lost your right to nothin, ma,” he replies sincerely, picking at a loose thread on his sweats. “Feelin like that ain’t no reason to lose us over. Least in my opinion. We both said things we knew would hurt in the heat of the moment, but I’m not gonna let that keep me from havin you.” Your lips curve into a sad smile at his words, reminding you of the hurtful things he’d said to you. You’ve spent the last several days ignoring his messages because you’d taken all of the blame for the argument on yourself. Opting to punish yourself by getting in the way of making things better in hopes that it’d keep you from hurting him again.
“Do you ever wonder if we’re not good for each other? Or maybe that I’m not good for you?” You’re surprised as the words slip off of your tongue, the alcohol in your system cancelling out your usual filter. A labored breath gets caught in your throat as you fear his answer to the question. Of course Fez hadn’t ever thought that exactly. His lifestyle made him question why you chose to associate with him, and he often reminded himself that he wasn’t good for you, but he never questioned if you were good for him. He knows damn well that you’re too good for him and that he’s lucky you give him the time of day.
“Nah,” he shakes his head, leaning forward just to be closer to you. “You must be on somethin if you’re thinkin like that. That’s crazy talk, Y/n.” You blink at him when he pauses again, the statement lightening the heaviness in your heart a little. “We may not be perfect, but we fit too well into each other’s lives for me to believe we’re bad for each other. A fight doesn’t just change that.” You nod in understanding, trying to find the right words to communicate how sorry you feel for saying what you did, but you keep drawing a blank. Fez studies you for a few seconds, watching a silent battle go on in your mind before he reaches out to touch you, feeling accomplished when his touch rips you away from your thoughts as his fingers graze the soft skin on your cheek.
“Are you going to keep acting like you’re afraid to look at me, or are you gonna let me kiss you so we can put all that behind us and move on,” he’s so close now that you can feel his breath faintly fan across your face. Your eyes flicker down to his lips, meeting his eyes once more, before you break the space between you and let your kiss say everything your words are failing to.
He hums at the feeling, gripping your jaw as everything else melts away.
“I really am sorry,” you tell him after pulling away, your foreheads resting against each other. “What I said was out of line. I hope you know I didn’t mean it.”
“I know,” he promises, lips grazing the curve of your lips. “I’m sorry for what I said too. Didn't mean any of it, just let the moment get in the way." You fingers dance over the soft skin on his chest, his cerulean eyes meeting yours in the dimly lit car as he leans further into your gentle touch. "I know there's more we gotta talk through, but what do you say we put a pin in it and go home?"
You nod in agreement, leaning in to kiss him once more before getting comfortable in your seat as he puts the car in drive and heads down the familiar streets to the apartment. His hand finds its home on your thigh, the simple gesture warming your heart in knowing that it's his simple way of promising you that he's there.
Things are far from perfect, but they'll be okay.
A/N: This one ran away from me a little, but I kinda like it...so I hope you guys do too <3 feedback is always welcome and appreciated. If you guys have any Fez concepts you'd like to see me write, feel free to shoot me a message. Also, if you want to be added to my Euphoria taglist, let me know <3 All the love.
Family Matters, Greg House
Tumblr media
Word count: 1.7k~
In the time I’ve worked at Princeton-Plainsboro teaching hospital, some might say I'm the bubbly doctor in our group. Although I don’t know how true this might be, I do know everyone can agree I'm definitely more bubbly than doctor Gregory House, but that's for another day to discuss. I'm usually the one people send in to try and cheer up patients. Because of this, I mostly work in the pediatrics ward where young, sick children are. Sometimes, I have an easy time talking to the kids and making them happier, and sometimes, I don't; usually, when I'm upset, I have a hard time.
Right now, I'm having a very difficult time.
A young New Jersey girl at the age of 11 had developed mastoiditis, an infection that affects the mastoid bone above the ear and is typically caused by a middle ear infection. Usually, this all clears up, but sadly, this infection had grown to be so bad that the girl ended up with only twenty-three percent of her hearing left in the one ear. Although this is the case, I'm not having a hard time because of the girl's loss of hearing, no.
I have my own problems at the moment.
Since I'm working in the children's ward, I don't get to see Wilson or Greg as much as I want to. Despite Greg's tendency to be an asshole, he's still my best friend and not to mention that Wilson is the kind of guy anyone can talk to about anything. However, our schedules are all different, so, as I said: we don't get to see each other that often.
At least they're still in my life though. For my family, I can’t say the same. Recently, I've just lost the closest person to me in my family; although it wasn’t through death, but through immaturity and childishness. Because of this, all of my other family members have closed me out as well, causing me to be alone. With all of my friends busy and my family shutting me out, I have no one to talk to or enjoy time with... no one. I can't even get a boyfriend for Christ's sake, and it's not like the guy I have my eyes on actually likes me back. Greg is the type of guy you can easily fall in love with, yet at the same, you really shouldn't.
"Doctor (y/n)," the young girl by the name of Jessie states. Putting all my focus back on her, I remind myself not become distracted anymore today. This isn’t the first time, unfortunately. "Will my hearing ever return?"
I smile sadly at her and shake my head. "I'm sorry, Jessie," I tell her. "Your hearing in that ear won't return, but it's not a bad thing!" I assure her. She smiles in relief. "We can always get you a hearing aid, and that will help get your hearing back to normal again, but the wait might be a little long," I explain. "Is that okay with you?"
She nods her head at my question. "I'm okay with that, doctor (Y/n)," Jessie tells me, "I'll have my family help me until then," she smiles brightly. "You can always look up to your family, right?" She states, confident in her words.
Tears slowly rising to my eyes at the thought, I nod and quickly blink them away. "That's right," I tell her, still smiling. "And don't you ever forget it," looking toward her parents, I nod my head. "The discharge nurse will be here in a few moments with the papers. If you'll excuse me..."
Without another word, I quickly leave the room and walk as fast as I can to the nearest empty room. I prefer going to James’ office instead, but it's two floors away, and I don't want any awkward elevator trips. So, before I have a mental breakdown in the middle of the hallway, I find an unlocked janitorial closet before walking in and closing the door behind me, ultimately sliding down the hardwood door once it's shut.
Sitting on the cold, tile floor, I begin sobbing as quiet as I can, my hand covering my mouth. I already had my family drama on my mind all day, but for that girl to unintentionally throw it back in my face? That was the frosting on top of the already leaning, three-layer cake.
Tears stream down my cheeks like raindrops as I cry my heart out. I can tell my cheeks are red by the sensation of heat I currently feel on them; my hands feel it too. I'm crying so hard my chest begins to heave up and down as if I were having a panic attack. Oh God, I can't have a panic attack. Not here, not now.
Behind me, I feel two knocks on the door, causing me to halt. The only problem is: the knock wasn't above me, it was where my back is against the door. Remind you, I'm currently sitting on the floor. The only way someone can knock that low is if there is a midget behind the door there or someone used something like a cane... it's Greg.
Slowly moving up a little, I shakily open the door and let the grey haired man in, watching as he looks at me with pity. I've never seen the confident doctor House look like this with anyone. It's like a... a totally different Greg.
Sitting down beside me against the door, Greg drops his cane beside him as he sighs and wraps his arm around me before gently tugging my body close to his. Shocked, I tense up, tears no longer pouring out of my eyes. Greg never comforts anyone like this. He always makes fun of them or says something that many people take offense to, but he never... he never cares. He always brushes it off his shoulder, yet for some reason, he seems like he actually cares this time.
"What's wrong?" He asks, his voice deep as usual with no emotion.
I wait a few seconds before lying. "Nothing important," I tell him, my voice wavering from my scattered emotions.
Pulling me back to face him, Greg looks me in the eye before sighing again. "I know you've been crying by the wet tears on your cheeks, slight puffiness, and redness to your eyes, and fast-paced breathing - and I don’t even have to be a doctor to notice that," he breaks down my current state, lifting an eyebrow. "Now, are you going to begrudgingly tell me what's wrong or do I need to stay in here with you until you finally give in to all my unrelenting sexiness."
His comment makes me laugh, causing a grimace of a smile to fall on House's lips. Out of all of us, I've been the only one to do that. I've been the only one to break Greg's stone exterior and interior. Plus, It doesn't help that I like Greg romantically. I like the fact that he's confident and witty; he's not afraid to be himself. Although, he can still be quite an ass to others, but to me, he’s always been nothing but kind. Even when I first started working here, he was still patient and sweet - a rare sight to everyone else. It used to hurt me to think he’ll never feel the same way as me, but I’ve gotten so used to that fact that it doesn’t even bother me anymore.
"It's just... my family," I explain, Greg pushing my head back onto his shoulder as he holds me. At this point, I'm not shocked by anything he does. The infamous doctor could be high for all I know. He probably took a few Vicodin tablets before coming down here now that I think of it.
"They've completely... shut me out," I explain, shrugging as I rest my hand on his shoulder. "They never talk to me anymore, they've blocked me in any way of even trying to talk to them. My cousin just sent me an email last night telling me that I didn't need to contact them anymore as they no longer wanted me in their lives," I close my eyes, tears rolling down my cheeks. "Plus, I wish I could work with you guys again," I take a breath before saying the next thing. "I miss you."
A few seconds of silence pass before Greg leans down to my face level. Opening my eyes, I'm greeted by his own sapphire orbs, watching as he continually inches forward until his lips plant themselves on mine. Our eyes close at the same time in response to the touch of our lips, and they stay that way too. With my heart beating fast and a different fire in my cheeks, I instantly respond to his kiss while placing my hands on the sides of his face, feeling his hands attach themselves to my hips as I do so. We kiss until we have to breathe, both of us pulling apart simultaneously.
"They don't deserve you," Greg tells me, a little out of breath. "You are wonderful; a decent and kind human being, inside and out," he takes a small pause, flashing his blue eyes down to mine. "I never thought I’d say this, but… because of you, I think maybe not everyone is a horrible person and that maybe I can be a bit nicer a time or two," he then smiles at me, kissing me once more. "You have made me feel love believe it or not."
Smiling, I lean up to kiss his forehead before sitting back down and resting my head against his chest, my eyes cast upon him as he looks down at me. "You've also made me feel love," I confess to him, my voice shy. "I've grown to love you as well. You and your sarcastic comments and witty comebacks and your insults to apparent stupid people," for once, he laughs, making me grin. "I can't help but love it all."
After a few moments, Greg speaks up. "I know I can't be your entire family," he murmurs, holding me close. "But I can try to be your... your..." He draws on, clearly trying to come up with an appointed title for himself. After a few seconds, I giggle and cut him off.
"Boyfriend?" I ask, making him roll his eyes.
"I was going to say significant other," he argues, looking over to me. "The term boyfriend is so, well, childish," he complains, making me giggle.
Leaning closer, I peck his lips. "Good thing you have a childish mind," I tease him, pressing my lips to his one more time before he responds to my comment with something horrible or completely inappropriate. It is Doctor House we’re talking about, after all.
“Why couldn’t this have waited until another day?” Gun muttered, unbuttoning his shirt, letting it slide off his taut frame, and neatly folding it, placing it onto the roof of his car. He was glad he hadn't put his jacket on, having left it in his passenger seat. “I can’t dirty my clothes again, [Name] will be mad if I get blood on it.” He rolled his broad shoulders until they released a satisfying crack, his thick muscles bulging as he stretched his arms across his scarred chest. Gun peered at a nearby store, the digital clock displaying in big white numbers, ‘7:45 PM’. He groaned, his lips curling into a scowl whilst his arms fell to his side. He didn’t have enough time to deal with this.
“Hmm, and it’s almost time for our date. Fuck.” Gun whispered to himself. He clenched his fists, narrowing his eyes at the man across from him. He removed his shades and revealed his dark gaze, placing his favorite accessory to his side as well. “I’ll make this quick, Goo. I have more important places to be.”
Goo laughed, grinning in his spot as he balanced a pole in his hands. He rolled his eyes, arching a brow at his partner. “Tsk, tsk, tsk, Gun, maybe if you didn’t spend all your time by [Name]’s side, we could have dealt with this matter much earlier. That girl has you wrapped around her pretty little finger, huh?”
“Shut it,” Gun said, already racing towards the blonde and thrusting his fist, knuckles colliding with metal. Upon the cold sensation meeting his skin, he wanted to absolutely kill Goo and rip him to shreds. This would take longer than he wanted, wasting his already precious, short time. He backed off, having a considerable distance between the two, stretching his fingers a few times before clenching them again. He growled, spitting venomously,  “You just like picking fights.”
“You did too. Before you met her, y’know,” Goo tutted, waving his finger in the air. He scoffed, voice low, “Who would’ve thought? Gun going soft for a girl. Psh, pathetic. Never thought I’d live to see the day...” The blonde trailed off, his face becoming stoic, his mind wandering. You truly had to be someone exceptional if you managed to have a guy like Gun to fall for you. He always wondered who you were, how you looked like, what you did, but Gun had kept you a secret from the world of crime. He hid almost every known trace abou you and tied every loose end that implicated you existed. No one knew who you were and no one could find you — unless Gun allowed them to.
Goo found it so irritating how he was unable to know the girl who made such a notorious gangster go soft.
He only met you once and that was by pure sheer luck; dropping by unexpectedly at one of Gun's apartments, only to be met with the sight of you. Seeing how Gun reacted, he knew you were supposed to be kept hush-hush. But boy, did he have a field day the next time he saw the man.
Goo had to meet you again. Or at least, know you more.
Only when Gun’s fist connected with Goo’s face did the man snap out of his thoughts, the impact of such force throwing him a few feet backwards. He dug his feet into the floor, a high-pitched screech coming from his shoes as the rubber burned against the pavement. With his sleeve, Goo wiped his cheek, seeing a speck of blood staining his clothes. Goo chuckled, standing up straight with a grin, “If I can remember right, you told me you got Eli Jang in trouble for basically the same thing. What was her name again? Heather?”
Goo blocked the upcoming attack, his pole raised and crossed above his face. He pushed Gun back with an effortless swing of the pole. He tilted his head and scratched the back of his head with his free hand. “How is [Name] any different from Heather? What does she have on you?”
Gun twisted his neck gently until he heard a crack, looking back at Goo as he hissed with venom, “Nothing.”
“Let me think, let me think….” Goo hummed, racking his mind for any possibility that someone like Gun would stay with a woman longer than one night. His face lit up and he broke out into a wide grin, pointing a finger at Gun. “Aha! You got the poor girl knocked up, right?! See, I always tell you to wear protection! Just couldn’t keep it in your pants, hm? Shaaame.”
“Ugh, fuck no. I don’t want kids and neither does she. We made that clear at the beginning," Gun said with a sneer, annoyed beyond comprehension at Goo's antics.
“Awe, I really thought she held something over you. How about this: I’ll stop fighting you if you tell me why you’re still with such a pretty girl like [Name]? Deal?" Goo offered, slinging the pole onto his shoulder. His eyes darkened as he spat maliciously, knowing each word would wind and rile Gun's emotions. "She deserves better than a perverted gangster, you both know that.”
Gun stayed silent, the corners of his lips tugging down into a frown. Goo’s last words struck a chord in him, sending a pang through his heart upon hearing an insecurity he’ll never admit to. Of course. Everyone told you to stay away from a man like Gun. People kept telling you you will only get hurt in the end, that a better man will come along and sweep you off your feet if you just waited, or you could always do better than him. But you never listened. You stayed by his side, even when the whole world looked down on you two. Even for months, he tried convincing himself he felt nothing for you, but after a while, he finally accepted that someone managed to tear down his walls and enter his hollow, cold heart — you.
You were just a different kind of girl - no- a different kind of woman. A special woman he had the pleasure of meeting. One he wouldn’t dare let go of now that he has the privilege of calling you ‘mine’. And by any god out there, he won’t be a stupid fool to lose you.
Gun sighed. “I tell you and you’ll put this stupid fight behind us, right?”
Goo placed a hand over his chest, replying shortly, “You have my word.~”
“[Name] is just that special person you meet once in your life. One you know you can’t let go of because there isn’t another like her. Simple as that.”
“What?! Ugh, don’t be boring! Tell me more!”
“You asked why I  stayed with her and I told you.”
“Yeah, but I expected a story, not some sad attempt at an old man’s wise words.”
A low guttural sound rumbled in Gun’s throat, his eye twitching. “Maybe when I’m in a better mood I’ll tell you, but if you’ll excuse me, I have a date with my woman.”
Goo groaned and tossed his pole to the side, rolling his eyes and grumbling, "Fiiine, but you owe me a story. "
"Whatever—damnit," Gun looked at the clock once again and his face contorted into one of pure irate. "I'm late."
'8:12 PM'
✦✦✦ ✦✦✦
Your head rested on your hand, balancing a glass of wine between your fingers, twirling the cup as the liquid swished around. Your eyes were looking down on the glory of Gangdong, the shimmering, blinding lights of the city mesmerizing you. The city always looked beautiful at this time of night. You just wished you could enjoy it with the person you cherished. A sigh leaves your lips and you look away, eyes trailing to the other tables over the balcony.
The lingering eyes of many strange men didn't faze you anymore, the two burly boys surrounding your table always making them avert their gaze as fast as it landed. A courtesy of your boyfriend, who was at least thirteen minutes late, who insisted on you needing to be guarded at all times. You knew if he were here, no one would dare to even breathe in your direction, let alone glance.
The cool air pricked your skin and a shiver passed through your body, reminding you of where you were. For a man as smart as him, Gun tended to neglect keeping the season in mind when planning your dates. Nonetheless, you were happy he went out of his way to take you out on such a busy schedule.
You jumped in your seat, snapping out of your thoughts. A jacket was wrapped around your frame, warmth immediately enveloping you as the fabric made contact with your bare skin. You looked up and smiled.
Gun stood behind you, towering over your sitting form as he made sure you were nice and covered. His coat basically swallowed you whole. A small stuffed animal was tucked under his arm, it’s fluffy fur peeking out. He walked over to take his seat, pulling the chair out, and wasting no time to slip in. He waved to the guards and they nodded, beginning to clear the scene of people.
“Sorry I’m late, [Name],” Gun started, taking the stuffie out from underneath his arm and presenting it to you. Oh, how adorable. "I brought you a gift as an apology."
A small brown otter sat in his palms, barely taking up Gun's hands. It’s beady, plastic eyes looked straight at you, a little smile stitched onto its snout. A snort left you. The sight of such a well-dressed, intimidating man carrying such an adorable toy was  amusing. "Really now? Just a cute toy, Gun?"
Gun sighed and sat up a bit from his chair, leaning over the table, and cupping your face as he planted a gentle kiss on your cheek. As quick as it started, Gun's lips left and he was seated once again. You pout. "Don't give me that look, [Name]. We can do more at home if you want but not here."
"It's not wrong to be disappointed in no kiss on the mouth after not seeing your boyfriend for such a long time. Don't you think I deserve it?"
Gun smirked, placing his shades on the table and taking your hand, intertwining your fingers together. He gave a light squeeze and you didn't miss a beat as you squeezed his coarse hand back. The way you pursed your lips and looked at him with such glossy, innocent eyes made his heart swell. With such a pretty, cute face, it was hard to say no to you. "Hmm, maybe. But Olly told me you crossed paths with Hostel A." Gun spoke, slipping his hands from yours and picking up his dinnerware, quickly cutting the savory meat into pieces. He didn't hesitate to put a piece up to your mouth, a hand underneath so as to not have the juice leak. "I was told you nearly broke the Uncles' bones and Big Daddy himself."
Your face scrunched up and you scoffed, shaking your head. You placed the stuffed animal to the side, petting it. "Figured those assholes wouldn’t tell you everything. The ‘uncles’ wouldn’t leave me alone and I thought Olly was another one of those bastards,” you snap, sitting back in your seat with a scowl. “How was I supposed to know he was trying to help when he dresses like that? I thought he was trying to assault me for God’s sake!”
Gun placed down his fork on his plate and his face twisted into one of fury, eyes turning cold and rigid as all the warmth disappeared whilst his lips curled back into a nasty frown. You almost thought his infamous scowl was directed towards you, but you knew better. You dear boyfriend wouldn't dare lay a single finger on you if it didn't bring you pleasure. "They what?"
You smiled softly, placing your hand over his as it clenched into a fist. With your small attempt at trying to soothe him by rubbing small circles, you spoke with a bit of hesitation, "Ah, yeah. They kept trying to get my number and wouldn't let me leave the booth I was in. I had no other choice than to use the training you taught me. Since I never met Olly, I really thought he was just another one of them and I reacted before thinking, making me attack him too."
Gun scoffed, shaking his head as he listened to your explanation with disbelief, every word fueling his rage of someone daring to hit on his woman. Every fiber in Gun's body screamed, wanting to feel their skin underneath his fists as he pounded them into oblivion. But the only thing stopping him was his date with you. For now, he'll put his anger aside to be with you and keep you happy. Who knows how long he'll be gone and when he'll see you again. The man has to make every second count.
Yet, he couldn’t let this go unpunished.
"Fuck." Gun leans closer to you and sits on the edge of his chair. Placing his hand over yours, he slips his fingers to grasp your palm, and lifts your hand to his lips, pressing tender kisses against your knuckles. His thumb grazing softly across your fingers and his eyes flutter shut. You couldn't help but stare in awe, never quite seeing him like this.
So careful with you, so gentle, you were surprised he wasn't seething in his seat and threatening to break their heads open. Gun opens his eyes and looks up at you, shaking in his seat. “I promise I’ll have those fuckers begging on their knees for your forgiveness. They should know better than to treat a woman with such rudeness and disrespect. Shit, I’ll go right now. I’ll beat them till-”
Your sweet laugh reaches his ears, cutting him off from his little speech. You lean in and pull in his hand to your lips, pressing a tender peck to his coarse knuckles. Gun felt his heart race and skip a beat at the sight, shock crossing his features. You look up, looking at your boyfriend with mirthful eyes. “As much fun as that sounds, I'd rather you stay here. Please? I want to spend as much time with you before you go back to work.”
The man stayed silent for a few seconds, taking in your words. He looked away, clicking his tongue before he broke out into a small smile, a blush blooming across his cheeks and the tip of his ears burning a bright red. “Of course, [Name]. Though, you could’ve just said you like spending time with me.”
Giggling, you lower your hands and shake your head. “Gun, of course I like spending time with you. You’re my favorite person and I love you after all.” Your voice said those three words with such fondness, it’s as if the man was in a dream.
If your words from before didn’t send Gun over the edge, your proclamation of love surely did now. He looked down, grinning like an idiot, showing a soft, bashful side he’s never revealed to anyone before. He swore his heart would jump out of his throat from how fast it was pounding against his ribcage. Gun grasped your hand tightly and sighed blissfully, Gently, he spoke, gazing at you with loving eyes, “I love you too.”
You smiled.
The tension in the air grew to be too much and both of you found it unbearable, wanting to do what both of you have been waiting for for weeks.
Both of you sat up and leaned over the table, closing the gap between you two as your lips interlocked, slipping together like if you were made for eachother. The kiss sparked and fed the fire both of you held in your hearts, burning brighter with every moment you spent at one another’s side. Gun couldn’t help but smile against your mouth.
As much as he hated being apart from you for so long, moments like these made the long hours worth it. If working so much meant he could provide for you, then he wouldn't mind doing it for the rest of his life if you had a roof over your head and a nice, warm meal at night.
Afterall, you were his woman.
And he loved you.
