Vallabhesa Karavalamba Dasakam

"Vallabha Ganapathi is that form of Ganapathi Vallabha Ganapathi is a rare form of Ganapathi who has eleven arms and is believed to be the protector of the universe. There are a few temples dedicated to this form of Ganapathi ( for example Mambalam, Madras) and one of them is in Suva, Fiji Islands and another in New york . I know of only three Karavalamvha stotras , one dedicated to Lord Subramanya , one to Lord Lakshmi Narasimha and the other dedicated to Lord Venkatesa.

.The stotram was taught by late Smt. Sarada, the daughter of Jailor & Astrologer Ganapathy Iyer, Irinjalakuda to her son Ganesan. The first letters of the slokas of this stotram combine to form "Om Sri Gam Ganapathaye Nama and after long search I have confirmed that it is neither available in the web nor in any of the books of published Ganesa stotras . I have translated the stotra after correcting the minor mistakes which had crept in over years . I am dedicating this stotra to the memory of Smt Sarada , the great devotee of Vallabha Ganapathi."

Dhyanam

Bheeja pooragadekshukarmukarujaa chakrabja pasthpala,

Vrehygraswavishana rathna kalasa prodhyuth karamboruha,

Dhyoyo vallabhaya cha padmakarayaslishto jwalath bhooshaya,

Viswothpathi vinasa samsthithikaro vigno visishtarthadha.

It is necessary to meditate on that God who prevents bottlenecks,

Who holds in his eleven hands things like lemon, mace ,

Bow, sugarcane, spear ,holy wheel, lotus flower, rope,

The black bel flower, the paddy bunch, his own tusk and pot of gems,

Who is being embraced by his wife who is well ornamented,

And having in her hand a lotus flower,

Who does the creation, upkeep and destruction of the universe,

And who blesses all with the special wealth.

St. Thomas Mount college girl murder | Accused arrested, bereaved father dies

Manickam, the father of the 20-year-old college girl Sathya, who was killed after being pushed by the 23-year-old stalker D. Sathish at the St. Thomas Mount railway station on Thursday, died the same night.

Meanwhile, the Mambalam Government Railway Police arrested the accused Sathish from a hideout at Thoraipakkam in Chennai on Friday morning.

A senior official of the City Police said Manickam, unable to bear the loss of his daughter and overcome by shock, died on Thursday night. Both the bodies of Manickam and his daughter are kept in the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital for post-mortem, he added.

Preliminary reports suggest that Mr. Manickam ended his life. The actual cause of his death will be known only after autopsy, he added.

How to avoid traffic and explore Chennai

Chennai, being a metropolitan city, has got pretty decent commuting options. 

The Metro railway project opened to the public in 2015. It paved a new commuting option other than traditional methods such as Electric Multiple Units (EMU). 

The EMU is a pretty old system implemented during the 1930s. 

The tram system was once familiar among Chennai's public until it went bankrupt (1895-1953). Later got upgraded to EMU & Madras Rapid Transit System (MRTS), maintained by the government body.

Let us explore Chennai using the best two methods locals use to avoid city traffic. 

Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) 

The most popular method to commute within Chennai; no other option is as affordable as MRTS. This system is still active because of its reliability and cost factor. 

I got a lot of opportunities to travel using the EMU & MRTS system in the early morning. Every time, I see hundreds of farmers traveling from rural places, carrying fresh vegetables, pulses & dairy products to reach the Chennai market. 

It is a daily routine for them except Sundays. 

There are three to four significant corridors in which the EMU & MRTS system is active.

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL)

A massive upgrade in Chennai city transportation happened with the introduction of the Metro railway system. 

As mentioned earlier, the first public usage of CMRL got flagged in 2015. 

Metro Rail system is still new in Chennai and expensive, but the public loves to commute, and it is still expanding. Out of the intended two Phases ( I & II), the Phase-I corridor is complete(2022) and active. 

As I said, Metro could be expensive, but it has a fair amount of merits to beat the fare. 

You can avoid the harsh summer heat as the Metro Rail offers air-conditioned bogy. Then you beat the peak hour traffic, which allows you to commute to any part of Chennai in just 30 - 45min.

Check what sightseeing spots can be covered using this Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL). On this visit, a minimum cost for a one-way journey costs you Rs. 60

Unlike EMU ticketing, the CMRL ticketing method is different. Either you can avail a one-time travel token by paying at the counter, or you can collect a "Travel pass" and load money. 

If you choose a Travel pass, you get a 20% discount on the travel fare. 

Metro is highly protected and secured like an airport. Central Government weaponized guards to ensure the station's safety by scanning passengers' luggage. Pathway maintenance is good, with a decent amount of signboards in appropriate spots pointing toward your platform.

The CMRL employees are traveler-friendly.
