Realistically, if I did bestplant, I would probably get lazy and just stop at families .. I'm just curious to know how many plant taxons the average tumblr user can recognise and have a favourite individual species in, and it would be a very fun opportunity to find interesting propaganda for each one.
Taxonomy discourse is really interesting. I would kinda be on my own for what classification system to use before the angiosperms, since there's still some uncertainty around the non-flowering groups. I'm not really sure how unified the stances are on animal phylogeny and taxonomy but if I had to guess, I figure that it's a lot worse than plants, simply due to there being significantly more animal species out in the world 😭😭
Also, Euphorbia is a good pick, Malpighiales is an incredibly fascinating clusterfuck of an order... coca, passionflowers, castor (RICIN), that one absurdly toxic tree, and RAFFLESIA... it's such a crazy lineup!!
I feel like plant taxonomy is a lot more complicated lol. It seems like botanists aren’t as unified in their decisions as biologists (not to say that biologists are super unified… we might have some upsets about how I decide to divide animals in the next round!) But then again I don’t know as much about it. I still don’t quite understand what palm trees are.
And also, what would you even do about lichen

floora: guessed in 15. got this far pretty quickly with weeping willow
Malpighiales
The Malpighiales comprise one of the largest orders of flowering plants, containing about 36 families and more than 16,000 species, about 7.8% of the eudicots.
which. so unhelpful. but eventually hinted for
Linaceae
Linaceae is a family of flowering plants. The family is cosmopolitan, and includes about 250 species in 14 genera, classified into two subfamilies: the Linoideae and Hugonioideae
well. well. i just know what linen is made of. /shrug. the latin or whatever.
zooaaaaa. oh yeah. snakes that arent snakes. boas that arent boas. but again. alphabet scrolling with advantage that. its early in the alphabet lol.

Identity and diversity of pollens collected by two managed bee species while in blueberry fields for pollination
Kelsey K Graham, Meghan O Milbrath, Michael Killewald, Annuet Soehnlen, Yajun Zhang, Rufus Isaacs Author Notes Environmental Entomology, nvad072, https://doi.org/10.1093/ee/nvad072 Published: 27 July 2023
[Image] Average percent pollen type per site collected by honey bees and bumble bees in 2018 and 2019. Pollen types other than Vaccinium corymbosum (blueberry) that represented less than 2% of the pollen at each site were grouped into an “other” category. UNId indicated pollen that was not able to be identified. Farms A–H were sampled from in both 2018 and 2019, though only bumble bee collected pollen was sampled from Farm A in 2018.

Arborventis flag
Arborventis is a scenegender that feels like standing in a grove of trees with sunlight dappling the ground. Wind whistles softly through the branches, sending willow leaves dancing. It's peaceful and quiet; the only noise being the wind, distant birds, and your breathing. It feels majestic in a quiet way, like the gentle beauty of nature.
