A metaphorical pit forms in his stomach at the thought.

Alear freezes in his tracks. Cautious stoicism nearly falling away in an instant as scarlet eyes glimpse the all-too familiar shade of brilliant azure in his periphery, gloved fingers instinctually feeling for a ring that is most assuredly still with its siblings in Lythos before daring to venture closer. It couldn't possibly be...

And indeed it is not– not Emblem Marth, that is. The man in question is solid. Tangible. Absent of the aura emitted by a spiritual form, with his feet planted firmly upon the earth. But the visage is undeniably his regardless of these facts. He is the Hero-King, in the flesh. Even if the how and why are reasons unknown to a once-tool of the Fell Dragon.

Blue suits him far better than red ever had, Alear thinks.

In the context of a different land known as Archanea- submerged so thickly in unremitting war one could not see the future- it meant that Marth need fulfill his utmost duty and meet the darkness ahead without turning back for Elice; in the more merciful context of this one, Fòdlan, it means only that fate possesses a curious way of bringing two people together. Just as much as it might acquaint a princeling with the clauses of his lifetime onus, it nudges him ever so mysteriously toward a fellow who stirs him into longing before they might exchange a single word.

              Time slows as if caught in the neck of a funnel. Losing all speed and elasticity as his eyes raise to meet a young man stopped in his tracks; a sight that makes Marth freeze in tandem. He blinks, appraising the strange feelings collecting beneath his skin. The hall isn't totally empty at this hour and life continues on; it wheels past two men, two strangers who rebuff the courteous etiquette of assimilating into a crowd. At last Marth shakes his head, casting off the haze and stepping their conversation to the side. "Indeed... and I believe I know your name as well. You are Alear, the recently arrived Divine Dragon Monarch from Elyos. Another one at that."

               Red to the west and blue to the east divvies the head before him into two territories. Already that sight is familiar. His eyes travel down instinctively to the other's vacant hand as if in expectation of something; as if to sight the band of sapphire-encrusted gold that twisted around another finger; but the Alear that stands before him is different from the woman that shares his colors. Even the flickering shadows and solid planes of his face.  

              "In that vein, I must confess I am the same. If you do not mind my saying so; you also remind me of someone. The girl who arrived before you under the same name. Like her, your words suggest our acquaintance beyond my memory of the fact; beyond my understanding." The steadiness of the Hero-King nevertheless points to his adjustment, that he is not entirely shocked at the insinuations or even the point-blank declarations of his adjacency to a spirit sharing his face and name. To deny the truth would run him ragged, it is easier for a human mind simply to believe; to adapt beneath a crushing weight rather than reject it; but he cannot deny the element of bias that accompanies his acceptance as well.

               Because standing before the one known as Alear feels proper, but more importantly, it feels right. Like a friend he has been waiting a thousand years to receive, the sight of this calm young ruler puts him at rest for reasons that deny logic or sense. He cannot help the idea; if a fateful path has chosen Marth, then it is this meeting that has chosen them. "But no matter. Even if that should be the case, memories are but memories..." Words of acquiescence and friendship flow as easily as water for the fact, falling into old steps, forging new ones, on the offering of a solid hand warm to the touch. A warm crinkling of two blue eyes at their corners as fingers overlap in friendly betrothal. Engaged.

               "—Bonds can be reforged time and time again. That is the welcome way of things is it not, Alear? Welcome to Garreg Mach."

Gotta say, Kaga was a masterclass at making compelling adviser characters. August, Dyras, Eugene, and now Ward. All big, big improvements from Malledus, FE6 Merlinus, and FE7 Marcus (except where gameplay is concerned in Marcus's case :p)

Ok so like the last one, lemme see if I can explain each one.

LITERALLY THE PLOT OF SPIRIT TRACKS. Chancellor Cole kills Zelda after breaking the titular Spirit Tracks and Tower of Spirits to make her body a vessel for his dark god Malledus. Also the absolute best incarnation of Zelda and I will not be taking criticism at this time.

Malo Mart in Twilight Princess. After donating absurd amounts of money to a shop in Kakariko Village run by Malo, a literal baby, it takes over a super snooty and overpriced shop in Castle Town, allowing you to buy the Magic Armor for 598 Rupees, just 2 shy of the max of at least one of the Wallet upgrades. It drains Rupees too.

This was one I was unsure of for a second, but this is the Oocca of Twilight Princess. They're most prominent in the City in the Sky, one of the very last dungeons in the game. One of them is always stuck in a pot in every dungeon, acting as Farore's Wind to GTFO of there if needed.

The Imprisoned in Skyward Sword. Slap the toes to kill it.

Twilight Princess yet again. There's a bomb shed in the Twilight of Kakariko Village with a couple Shadow Insects you need to kill. How do you get them out of the chimney? With fire of course!... In a BOMB shed. At least you don't need to kill them yourself to get the Tears of Light.

Also Skyward Sword. There's a side quest involving sending a love letter to someone in lieu of the sender being a coward, but there's also a nifty Majora's Mask reference in the bathroom, a hand in a toilet asking for PAPER. If you give the hand (now much more dainty looking than MM, mind you) the love letter, it will read it and be flattered, and will pet the sender at night. Yikes.

This one has to be the fake. I tried thinking of what it could be from, before @footsteps-on-the-dance-floor pointed out the Zora Mikau from Majora's Mask. You do *technically* save him from drowning, and you do play him a song, BUT HE STILL FUCKING DIES. You play him the Song of Healing which does not actually heal him but instead turns him into a mask as he succumbs to the polluted water.

For the fourth time, Twilight Princess! After collecting the pieces of the Fused Shadow and going to the Twilight Realm to defeat Zant, Midna uses the Fused Shadow to become a giant spider THING and stabs the barrier around Hyrule Castle, shattering it. There might be a couple more candidates for this too, just to cover the bases. In both A Link to the Past and A Link Between Worlds, the Thieves' Den dungeon has you escort a seemingly helpless girl through the dungeon, before you get to the boss room, where she transforms into the boss itself.

The likely intended option is the Oracle games, where there's a family, Bipin and Blossom, that just had a child in one game and allows you to name it. When you input the password you got after beating the first into the second game, the child is growing up, and depending on how you helped in the first game, has different personalities! As an honorable mention, Link the Goron in Ocarina of Time has the same name as what you put, though you don't really have a hand in how he grows up, just saving his family from the Fire Temple after you blow him up.

I see the maker of this quiz is a Twilight Princess fan, because here it is again! Before the second dungeon of the game, the Gorons are apparently really pissed at something, and aren't allowing Hylians entry. In order to get to the Goron Mines, you need to beat the Goron chief in a sumo wrestling match. The first time, you get BODIED. When you ask the Ordon Village chief for advice, he challenges you as well, and after beating him in a tutorial round, he gives you the Iron Boots, which is what he used to beat the Gorons long ago. You then come back for a rematch, and win access to the Goron Mines.
