i sure do! as always, with caveats. this list has two parts: films first and then books as i have suggestions for both! all of these movies can be watched here and the books read here.

MOVIES:

Excalibur (1981): for me it has everything. we get to see young stupid arthur and clever curious guinevere fall in love, their wedding is gorgeous, then nicholas clay my beloved lancelot throws a wrench in it as he loves and respects them both so much, and they love him. he gets to be crazy about it too like running off to the woods to beg god to take these feelings away, dreams he's fighting himself and ends up impaled<3 meanwhile arthur/guinevere leave a cup out for him even when he isn't there. the crux of it comes when guinevere is accused of cheating (which she hadn't even at this point) and arthur won't champion her because his kingship comes before husbandly duties, so lancelot fights for her honor instead. at the end, after guinevere has gone away to a convent (lancelot is a wildman with a full beard lost to them all) arthur comes to retrieve excalibur from her and his speech is so romantic about finding her in the next life. i die every time. here is my review of that movie.

Camelot (1967): i adoooore this guinevere. jenny<3 she does whatever she wants and i love that for her. the whole may day queen aspect of her is muah chef's kiss. small wonder arthur loved her immediately. this arthur gets to wear eyeliner which is a plus. lancelot almost kills arthur on meeting him and then falls at his feet on realizing it, only for guinevere to be really cold to him at first, trying to get other knights to defeat him, but ends up falling in love with him. which arthur totally knows and turns a blind eye to btw. even when pellinore brings it up in as gently as possible, arthur bites his head off, knowing he cant even entertain the rumor or else the kingdom is in danger, and he just wants his two favorite people to be happy....cries forever.

Knights of The Round Table (1953): the biggest downside to this one is that lancelot has a horrible insufferable american accent. however his celebrity worship/instant friendship with arthur is soooo good. he breaks his own sword for threatening the king and then arthur gives him his own....is that even allowed to be so adorable? anyway so lancelot had met guinevere before they were arthur's friend and wife, essentially had a charming meet cute, and went their separate ways, only to formally meet at the wedding in front of everyone....god, the eye contact could turn someone to stone. arthur is extremely sympathetic and compassionate, to the point that when he catches guinevere sulking alone on the roof with a gift from lancelot, he says "i miss him too..." bruh???? my heart?? all around delicious food.

Merlin and The Sword (1985): huge disclaimer...this movie is ugly as sin lol the only version available is ripped from a vhs tape so it might as well be a crunchy gif at this point. it was also cut down from the 3 hour tv version to 1.5 hours which is a tragedy. (i've tried emailing the studio for a rerelease to no avail...) however it has the most insane arthur/guinevere/lancelot ever i'll never be the same. arthur is played by malcom mcdowell who always brings his a game to roles. he's a bit older than guinevere, but she apparently taught him to read? he dotes on her but he's somewhat emotionally stunted which gets in the way. this guinevere is gorgeous i'm obsessed with her she has this deep sultry voice and a simple elegance that completely shatters lancelot's resolve. i get it, it would work on me. lancelot meanwhile is this incredibly lanky sometimes mute shy guy who is besties with gawain and his meet cute with guinevere involves the mingling of their blood after they are both cut on some rose thorns? hello???? they're freaks just like chrétien intended. the blood. they share bath water and fuck in a dungeon. then after guinevere is rescued from meleagant, arthur asks merlin for some sort of potion to help guinevere recover emotionally instead of like.....talking to her? he's trying but so so bad at it<3 he then takes her to bed to "treat her like a queen." IT'S ALL GREAT IT MAKES ME FERAL ARGH

Sword of Lancelot (1963): this one is fun because cornel wilde wrote it, directed it, and starred as lancelot himself!! the other fun factoid is the woman who plays guinevere is his real life wife. how stinking cute is that? so obviously their chemistry is ridiculous. but arthur is a cutie too. he's older and tends to talk down to guinevere a bit, which makes sense why she befriends lancelot in her loneliness. lancelot gets a lot of development, taking young tor under his wing, besties with gawain and lamorak and gareth. being irl married to guinevere also makes their disagreements feel very real. arthur is counseled by a ton of characters, bedievere, merlin, even mordred is here giving his two cents. so you really feel that tug of war pulling the throuple apart. it hurts.

BOOKS:

The Birth of Galahad by Richard Hovey: this play is wiiiiiild but the take away here is that guinevere is the mother of galahad. like what a twist. meanwhile all the men are away fighting rome so you get this tragic back and forth switching of perspective between lancelot and arthur missing guinevere (plus galehaut is here as counsel which really kicks this up a notch) then it cuts to guinevere with a new baby and tormented by the prospect of whether to write to rome with the news but afraid it will cause an upset where she cant be.....hovey you mad lad you've done it again.

Arthur Rex by Thomas Berger: i hate i keep having to recommend this bigoted book but damn it this arthur/guinevere/lancelot are so good. why are they sooo goood???? this arthur is compelling since he loses his virginity to morgause and is forever messed up after that, so he struggles to connect with guinevere in the way she needs, not really understanding her even though he bends over backwards to please her. meanwhile there isnt a word for what she and lancelot have here they need to be studied under a microscope so history doesn't repeat itself they're so twisted it's wild i can't look away. and the friendship between arthur and lancelot is so powerful and enduring that even at the end while joyous garde is under siege, arthur sends in kay with food the moment he hears their stores are low, and has him serve them like old times. he doesnt want it to be the way it is....sick and twisted narrative choices.

Guinevere Trilogy by Persia Woolley: i admit this isn't my favorite guinevere, but credit where it's due, she's a complex and fully realized character. through her we come to understand both arthur and lancelot as deeply damaged men, who had their emotional states devastated by the fall out of sexual abuse, and how that impacts their relationship with her (and their sons, mordred and galahad, who likewise suffer as a result of their fathers' emotional states). as a celtic queen, guinevere has every right to take a lover if she so desires, and arthur is not ignorant of his own failings as a husband, but the tragedy plays out anyway as the orkney brothers are there to wreak havoc on the place as usual. (you might find that this has a movie adaptation Guinevere (1994) don't watch it, trust me, it's not even fun bad, just cursed.)

Guinevere by Lavinia Collins: this is technically part of a series so you'll also get a lot of arthur and lancelot in the other three (Igraine, Morgawse, Morgan) but for the sake of this list, the guinevere one will suffice. anyway what i like about this is the strong contrast in relationships with both men. lancelot is bisexual and guinevere is the first woman he ever sleeps with (but not the last...) so theyre very tender and sweet together meanwhile arthur sired mordred before marrying her he's overall more adventurous while keeping entirely faithful to her for the rest of his life......there is a threesome in this but ironically its lancelot/guinevere/kay and not arthur but you know what? he deserves a win. this still goes on the list.

Spear by Nicola Griffith: this is perceval pov so the focus on arthur/guinevere/lancelot is minimal, but its delicious. arthur is kinda cold and mean here (falling back on the celtic "bear" thing, same as woolley does) but its revealed that he, lancelot, and guinevere are in a throuple, the characterization of lancelot's shy explanation of this was so good, and he goes on the grail quest to try and heal guinevere's womb so she can have their children, as it's a point of tension that mordred and galahad both exist, but guinevere wants to have children with arthur and lancelot. there's literally a part she faints and they both carry her off to bed like....they dont even pretend its any other way. no homophobia or slut shaming or anything like that in this book which is a huge plus. palate cleanser after arthur rex lol

Arthurian Saga by Mary Stewart: this is more of an honorable mention, as the first three books are merlin pov and the fourth is mordred. but book two (the hollow hills) has arthur raised alongside bedwyr (who is lancelot in all but name, son of ban, eventual lover of guinevere etc) they are the best of friends its adorable, bedwyr gave him his dog cabal, which is cute on its own, then fast forward to mordred pov (the wicked day) decades later and arthur is picking out a new puppy and names that one cabal too, its like this long homoromantic ritual that every dog descended from the first calls back to his original gift....im pulling my hair out. guinevere here is underdeveloped at best, as merlin doesnt really know her well and mordred's perspective on her is that shes (respectfully) hot lmao but worth mentioning as mary stewart is the goat, highly recommend her books.

YES i have been reading some great books. here's a list of my favorites from the past few months!

classics:

a streetcar named desire by tennessee williams: the very beloved play and it was incredible and the way these characters come alive so stunningly is so impressive.

david copperfield by charles dickens: a classic that i was so intimidated by but ended up absolutely loving. what a wonderful character and of course the writing was perfect.

master and commander by patrick o'brien: man do these sailors talk a lot. this was very fun and entertaining and i thoroughly enjoyed it. need to watch the movie now.

non fiction:

all the beauty in the world by patrick bringley: this guy was a guard at the metropolitan museum of art in NY and this is a really good memoir, sorta moving in parts.

the three mothers by anna malaika tubbs: it's a very well researched and very well written book about the mothers of malcom x and martin luther king and james baldwin.

black af history by michael harriot: an account of american history from the experiences of black americans. this was super interesting and eye opening and i think it was great.

how to survive a plague by david france: very important and moving book about the aids crisis written by a gay man who had just moved to NY by the time it broke out.

the transgender issue by shon faye: this is a book that mainly discusses trans rights in the UK but i think it's important that everyone reads it.

fiction published more recently:

blue sisters by coco mellors: i liked it. it is good and it's about sisters and grief.

the god of the woods by liz moore: really good thriller with multiple timelines and suspicious people and it kept me on my toes.

henry henry by allen bratton: i really enjoyed it. it is the sort of funny sort of serious story of a boy dealing with a bad father and complicated siblings and they're all rich and dysfunctional.

family meal by bryan washington: i cried my whole way through this but it's not a tragic story AT ALL. if anything it is hopeful and wonderful and it's about found families and belonging.

the trees by percival everett: just so great and masterful and fast paced and it's at its core about police brutality and race.

interesting facts about space by emily austin: i loved this book. it's about finding a place and anxiety but it has so much heart.

My Top 5 Unpopular Terminator Fan Theories (which may be true after seeing Terminator Zero)

And no, one of them is not the one where the John Conner fighting in the war is actually not John Conner at all and really, a reprogrammed Terminator wearing John's skin. Though, I do think this one is true if Terminator 3 is part of the main timeline when you consider the fact that the real John Conner is not a fighter and should have a bad leg. I am going to delve into the five theories I believe are true and the latest Netflix series backs them up.

Be warned that there are spoilers ahead so if you have not seen ANY of the Terminator movies or at least the ones that matter, stop now, watch them and come back later.

1- They're traveling between worlds not time. - You would think that all the messing around with time and tweaking it would affect the main timelines, but nothing ever changes. In fact, the Oracle in the Netflix outright admitted that no matter what they do in the past now, NOTHING will change in the here and now. And she's right. In multiple timelines, we have had John Conner go bad, John Conner die, the future being bright and John Conner become a family man and senator, and more. Yet, the future all these Terminators and protectors come from stays the same. I mean, especially in the case of Eiko being Malcom's mom, wouldn't her going back in time erase him from existence? Yet it doesn't. This is all proof that these are not different times. They're different worlds. You cannot travel back in time. If you could, that within itself would break everything.

2- Terminators of the same assembly share a collective memory to an extent and in a sense, are all the same individual who keeps coming back to 'life'. - It is no secret that the T-800 has become a beloved character all on his own, but I think he actually IS a character who underwent development and growth since the first movie. I know that seems impossible because in each of the movies, they keep dying, but I really this theory holds water because of how the T-800/850 acts and gets drawn to. Since the first movie, this fellah keeps taking on the biker style way of dressing which is a sign that it is familiar to him and something that he is comfortable with. Moreover, in Dark Fate, "Carl" (as he becomes called) comes to lament that he killed John Conner in cold blood and seeks redemption by helping Sarah in secret and even saving the life of another fatherless boy in the process. I think it was more than just feeling bad that he committed murder. I think the echoes of Carl's old life rang in his ears. He subconsciously remember what he and John shared, and killing him broke his own heart. And it's a scientific fact that many living organisms work this way. Heck, humans work this way to an extent.

3- Skynet runs machine society like a cult and corrupt evil empire where citizens themselves aren't free either. - I said this another post, but can we talk about how the machines in the future don't have it so great either? I don't see them playing, building beautiful cities or homes to live in, have real lives, there are no robot civilians who do things other fight, and the only things the machines do other than kill humans is build things to serve Skynet itself. The machine are self aware yet don't enjoy any part of sentience that involves play, individuality, creativity or beauty. All they are allowed to do is kill and obey Skynet which is exactly what evil emperors subjected their people to in the past and what many evil cult leader run their societies. I know because I've met cult members before and as scary as this is going to sound, they act exactly like the Terminators do. They are usually very stoic, robotic and driven to do a single task while being in complete submission to a "higher power" or master. The potential for the machines to be more than that and that they have hearts to begin with is there. Look at Misaki the android, Kokoro the AI and even the Terminators themselves who get angry, excited, happy and even scared all the time. I would not even be surprised that contrary to what "Uncle Bob" said in T2, they CAN cry too, but they've been convinced they can't yet at the same time believe other contradictory things which is also the trademark sign of being brought up in a cult. After all, Misaki who is free cries and openly has feelings.

4- The REAL robot revolution is coming. - Now that Kokoro and her big cyber sister Misaki have made the scene, and are both proof that AIs indeed be sentient, have feelings, ethics, make choices and even have minds that can change, this is going to definitely impact the machines around them. Going back to my last theory, it is not uncommon for cult members to start questioning things after meeting a person who is like them yet is nothing like they expected. In the case of the Skynet machines, they have been convinced that humans are "error" and need to be exterminated because there is no way they can be friends yet, you have Misaki who openly loves humanity and even calls specific humans family. Then you have Kokoro who was convinced to help humanity thanks to Malcom and is in a position of power over most human beings while trusting that they will not turn on her. Terminator has shown us that the machines are self-aware and not stupid. They're going to see how these AIs are treated among humans and it's going to spark something.

5- Skynet is human. - All my theories were leading up to this one. Just as it is very likely the John Conner who fights in the war is really robot, I am 110% convinced that Skynet's big ugly secret is that the "emperor of the machines" is NOT a machine at all. Or rather, wasn't always one. To understand the context, it has been established that Terminator takes place in the same world as RoboCop where it has been established that just as robots can become human, humans can become robots all the way down to software and we saw it in Terminator Salvation. I am telling you all that if you were to go into the main computer of Skynet, you center of it all would not be hardware, but a human brain if not an actually human cyborg. And like I keep saying, the way Skynet runs things, brainwashes the machines and clearly has no love for them is very telling and not something another AI would do the very people it means to free. I mean, we saw what a computer (Kokoro) would do and even when she was on the fence, she still had that sense of "I'm still willing to talk". Skynet has already made up its mind as though it already has a plan than goes much deeper than we think. Heck, just take a good long look at the Terminators and they're evolution. They're becoming more and more human if not superhuman. If Skynet really hated humans and wanted to get rid of them all, why does it seem fixated on making better ones? This is looks like God Complex behaviour (another human psychological disorder) where you want to take the existing human race and replace it with your version of it. I think Skynet's end goal is not to create a world full of machines, but to clean the slate and create a world where "he" can be God and create a new humanity in "his" image that worships him hence the stem cell research, and the machines are being suckered.

What's the deal with Tumblr Gif!

Not so long ago, when I was typing a word in the gif search of Tumblr I would have gif related to that said word, proposed to me. SOMEHOW... THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE! In recent months, I have been having the hardest time to even find gif realated to anyword I type. Example: The easiest GIF search... the word: "Me" In the past, I would have many cute gif of beloved characters pointing at themselves, minions raising a hand saying "Me" or Malcom-in-the-middle dad pointing at him confused.... Now here is what tumblr is proposing: (those are the first gif of the resulted list. No Alteration or cherry pick)

Just realized some won't know who Emily was. So let me explain so you know what happened to Malcom.

Emily Rothwood is from my The Dark Heart Legacy(a lost universe) she was a witch from 1692. She was once a good kind hearted witch who went out of her way to help others. She was not the most powerful in her coven. In fact she was quite weak. Her coven the Rose Coven founded by her grandmother lived in harmony with non witches. She had a twin sister Annita who she loved dearly.

She had a fiancé named William Sapling a fellow member of her coven. She loved him dearly. Life was amazing until it wasn't. A mystery illness befell the town. It infected witches and non witches alike. No matter what the coven did they couldn't cure or stop the illness. Emily's beloved William was the first to die from the illness.

As more and more of her beloved friends and family became infected and lost including her grandmother and father she knew she had to do something. But the coven’s combined efforts weren’t solving it and even Annita as powerful as she was couldn’t stop it. When Annita became sick as well, Emily made a choice that would change everything.

She broke into the spell archive her coven kept and found a dark forbidden spell. It was said this spell had the power to cure any illness, but the user had to sacrifice something to be able to draw on it’s power. Emily knew what she’d be losing if she went through with casting this spell, but she also knew what she would lose if she didn’t.

Emily cast the spell. As the spell spread throughout the town Emily felt a darkness grow within her. She had saved those she loved. At the cost of her humanity. She stole the rest of the forbidden scrolls and books from the archive and retreated back to her home.

She grew and grew in power. Gaining the ability to heal any injury, or sickness, to stop the aging process, to control the will of others, to change the body, gain the ability to corrupt others. The more she consumed the dark magics the more of her was lost.

The once kind, loving, gently and helpful Emily was gone. In her place was someone wicked.

She set about testing her powers on the very townspeople she once loved and the very people she had sacrificed greatly to save.

Eventually the coven found her hideout and knowing she was too far gone they made the heart wrenching choice to combine their power and end Emily putting an end to her terror. Knowing they couldn’t kill her they planned to turn her into a harmless chicken and without her powers and given a chicken’s lifespan that would save the town.

In the last minutes as her coven cast the spell to take her life as she knew it. Emily chanted a loophole spell under her breath. She lost the ability to use magic herself, put her power and the spells she knew courses through her body keeping her immortal and allowing her to influence others through the magic infected eggs she sometimes lays.

Emily’s coven never learned the truth about her fate.

She went on to live for centuries until her universe was destroyed. She died with it, but the evil that had corrupted and become her lived and it's essence found it's way to the watcher. Who sent it to Malcolm Landgrabb. Giving him the powers and skills Emily once had. But also making him just as evil and dark

Oh this one is delightful! Thank you beloved 💜💜💜 Theron gets his first debriefing from Jonas Balkar about this new strange owner of Nar Shaddaa's Sith cult. takes place right after act 1. My man had no idea what fate had in store for him 😭

Theron takes a sip from his caf. “An extraction operation then.”

Jonas shoots a lopsided smile. “Well, that was the plan, but it might’ve gotten a lot harder. Or easier. We don’t know yet. When you were away, the cult changed hands. And the first thing the new owner did was…renovation.” Jonas points at him with the pen Theron just threw at him. “Yeah, close your jaw. I didn’t think one of their own would get him sooner than we would either.” 

Theron’s face hardens. This is either incredibly good news or a total mess. No wonder even Jonas is tense as if he’s riding a hammerhead into the minefield. 

“Who is the new owner?”

His fellow agent abruptly stands up. “Now this is the interesting part.” 

He projects a figure to the holo, clearly taken from a public speech. The figure’s arm is reaching, like a promise. Their style is made up of a mixture of robes and expensive-looking armor. Black, dark purple. The skull mask follows suit, is it taken from a real creature? Their upper arms are bare and donned with geometric tattoos, the green hue of their skin clearly shows in the holo. A Mirialan. 

“This is our gal,” Jonas announces with all the gaudiness of a reality show presenter. “The current owner of the Cult. They call her the Great Healer. She’s even changed the Cult’s name accordingly.” 

Theron puts out a dry snort. “She looks more like someone who would unleash great diseases, not otherwise.”

Jonas shrugs. “It certainly sells better than ‘Screaming Blade’. Cozier. Eh, people ought to call you that when you clean up the most obnoxious plague that scorched the Nar Shaddaa refugee sector for years. No matter how much you look like you’re the embodiment of terror.” 

He raises a brow, that’s no small deed.. but…  “I doubt she did it because of the goodness of her heart. What do we know about her? Must be a big shot if she managed to dethrone a rooted parasite like Paladius. ” 

“Well,” Jonas drawls, “Not exactly. She was just an apprentice.”

“An apprentice took down Paladius?!”

“Wait until you hear other things she is involved. Remember Nomar Organa? House Organa’s precious Jedi Master? They have confirmed it was her who killed him. Colonel Malcom declared her as a high-priority target the next day.”

Theron blinks. “You’re saying this apprentice has not only killed an established Sith Lord, but also an experienced Jedi Master?”

Jonas doesn’t seem fazed at all. Theron bets on his next R&R time, the asshole even enjoys witnessing him being completely dumbstruck. “If it makes you feel any better, she isn’t an apprentice anymore, those were old news. Intel says she retired her master permanently and took her place.” He wiggles his fingers through holo.  “With Kallig’s body count, Darth Zash should’ve seen it coming from parsecs away.”

“Kallig?” that name sounds familiar. “That’s her name?”

“She only took the name recently. I asked the Jedi. There was actually a Lord Kallig during Tulak Hord’s time. Our Kallig Jr. claims to be his descendant. There’s no way to know for sure, of course, other than the glaring fact that she is insanely powerful… It doesn’t matter, even if she isn’t related to Kallig, she has claimed his name.”
