Peter Dutton: Australia What Did You Expect?
Tumblr media
When the Liberal Party elected Peter Dutton as their leader what did they think would happen? This is the hard right face of this once broadly representative political party. Peter Dutton: Australia what did you expect? A party shunted out of office after 10 years of doing little more than protecting the status quo. At a time when Australia and the world required real leadership, we got jobs for the boys and heads buried in the sand. The Coalition was a federal government devoid of vision and tightly controlled by vested interests.

Dutton Decision is Death of Liberal Relevance in Australian Politics
The centrist heartland of Australia rejected the Libs and Nationals after giving them a decade in office to do something about tackling the serious issues facing Australia. Their record on climate change was appalling and has put back Australia at least 10 years in its efforts to do something about this existential crisis. The Liberal Party plays politics whilst the country burns. Malcolm Turnbull could have been a good leader if he hadn’t been hamstrung by the right and their corporate masters. Murdoch and the fossil fuel industry kept the Coalition on a tight rein. Scott Morrison was a backstabbing bastard pretending to be a jovial everyman. Look at their record for confirmation.

Leading A Coalition Opposition Out Of Ideas
Robodebt was an illegal attempt at screwing over the poorest people in Australia. This huge stuff up cost us the taxpayers $1.8 billion in a settled class action. It betrayed the trust of the people in its institutions and government. It caused the deaths of completely innocent vulnerable Australians. The Coalition manipulated federal government spending programmes to favour their own electorates at the expense of the parts of Australia that happened to live in Labor held seats. They delivered no definite energy policy, which hampered investment we sorely needed to begin the transition to renewables. This has put back the nation and will make the transition all the more harder and painful. “WE CAN NOW quantify the losses to the economy – and to the people of Australia – due to the incompetence and corruption of the Liberal-National Party Coalition over its eight years and eight months. The October Budget Papers provide full data on spending, revenue, deficits and debt over its disastrous tenure. In that entire period, it did not generate a single budget surplus, despite governing during a phenomenal period of global economic growth, booming international trade and soaring commodity prices. On virtually all tables of economic outcomes, Australia has tumbled down the global rankings year after year. As analysed in detail in April, Australia from 2012 to 2022 added more debt to GDP than any developed country except Costa Rica.” - (https://independentaustralia.net/politics/politics-display/calculating-the-cost-of-coalition-corruption,16918) Scott Morrison and the Coalition sat on their hands with their heads in the sand. Leadership requires vision, calculated risk, and freedom. The Liberal Party of Australia and the Nationals had none of these things.

Peter Dutton as leader is a move backwards into a corner for the Liberal Party. His refusal to recognise the Voice to Parliament is a terrible illustration of this. Australia as a nation supports this long overdue move toward recognition of our Indigenous brothers and sisters. Dutton hasn’t read the mood of the nation, but stayed within the rump of the hard right faction, which controls the party. Peter Dutton: Australia what did you expect? Unless they dump the Dutton and invest in reinventing themselves the party is doomed to a decade in the darkness of the political wilderness. ©WordsForWeb Read the full article

BRING THEM HERE
Dear followers,
The Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull, and his office are currently recording a register of people who express their concern about the asylum seeker detention centre on Manus Island. All you have to do is call 02 6277 7700 (Malcolm Turnbull's Office), and say 'I would like to express my concern about Manus Island'. The receiver will ask for your first name and State (i.e. NSW), and add your concern to the register. This number is legit - google it. Please, we have the chance to at least voice our concerns to our government, and I'm taking what little chance there is to facilitate even the slightest chance of bringing some change to those people's lives who have absolutely nothing and are being held prisoner in a torturous, inhumane and brutal centre, which has been stripped of all electricity, food and water. Don't sit back and let them suffer when you have been given this chance.
Thank you.

I do not believe we can effectively move Australia to a lower emission economy, which is what we need to do if we're going to make a contribution to a global reduction in greenhouse gases, without putting a price on carbon. —Malcolm Turnbull

On indigenous land, Trump wants a pipeline and Turnbull wants a coal mine.
That is, Turnbull just announced he's gonna change the Native Title Act so it can't be used to stop the Adani coal mine. This happens a lot. Whenever the Native Title Act helps give Indigenous people power to stop destructive government projects, the government just amends the Act to disempower them again. It's a weak law.
The world over, stopping climate change, stopping fossil fuels and empowering Indigenous people are deeply linked.

#Australia is contemplating the future after #PrimeMinister #MalcolmTurnbull was ousted and replaced by #ScottMorrison who was sworn in as the nation’s 6th leader in a decade, earlier today. Morrison voted against #marriageequality and is expected to support #religiousliberty over #LGBT rights. (at Parliament House, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory)

This vaccine has irreparably injured more people than it has helped... from@freedom_Faction #Gardasil9, the latest #humanpapillomavirus vaccine, will be given to all #Australian 12- and 13-year-old students beginning in 2018. The announcement that #Gardasil 9 would replace the quadrivalent Gardasil was made by the Prime Minister at the North Bondi Surf Club. That #MalcolmTurnbull was involved in the ceremony surprised me, but clearly it illustrates the strong support the government has for the practice of vaccination. The spectacle is worth examining, firstly for the pageant itself and what it signifies along with the likely repercussions of this decision. On a bright sunny day and surrounded by lifesavers from the local surf club, Malcolm Turnbull began the proceedings: “It is an extraordinary development, Australian medical science – it is, so many of those young boys and girls down there will be proofed throughout their whole lives from this virus that is of course the cause of cervical cancer and other cancers as well.” Of course the choice of venue was deliberate. The news that a more potent #HPVvaccine was now to be given to teenagers was announced at one of #Australia’s most iconic beaches. Bronze surfers provided the important backdrop to Malcolm Turnbull as he purposely promoted this crap, claiming it was a vital new step in saving lives and “an example of the way in which we are keeping Australians safe and healthy, we are saving lives, the young lifesavers behind us, they’re getting ready to save lives on this beach.” If the repercussions in the wake of HPV vaccines weren’t so tragic it would be comical. How can the Prime Minister have missed the fact that there have been at least 73,000 adverse events following the administration of the quadrivalent HPV vaccine, Gardasil, and that so many of these teenagers are still ill, and can’t go to school or play sport? How can he talk about the value of ‘saving lives’ when he is endorsing this vaccine that is associated with thousands of adverse events leading to sustained illness in so many young people — people who were encouraged to have a vaccination for a disease they were most unlikely to ever get?
