11. Deep Observations
The one-man submarine operated slow, but effective. The grey painted machine floated between the small swarm of Reef sharks, camouflaged by the water and the ocean colour. The sharks moved in a simple balett attitude, circling the deeper laying Reef in search for a meal.
Small lilac and orange coloured shoel of fish swam between the different corals, ignoring the grey shadows upon them.
The scientist inside the submarine moved with the sharks along the Reef, while taking probs of the water and the Reef overgrown. The waterproof camera recorded every move.
Safin sat in his operation room and watched the send pictures of the cam, his fingers drumming inpatient on his desk. His face looked thinner as usual in the night light of the ops. His pox scared cheeks deep, his skin unhealthy yellow. A frown was glued to his face while he observed the incoming recordings. He knew the sub could not be quicker, alas he longed for the results.
Behind him stepped Luc out of the metal hatch to enter. As his right hand it was Luc's privilege to join Safin at any time. The men had lived through good times and bad times, but never felt apart. Safin gave him a quick look, before focusing again on the screen.
“This part of the Reef shows already some perish of sea anemones”, Safin started.
“That would explain the reduction of fish swarms.”, Luc said, stepping closer behind his boss.
Safin gave Luc some space to look for himself, as he pointed at the screen.
“Dying Alcyonacea, organ-pipe corals already growing to stone ... Sea sponges that stopped working.”
His low and rasp voice fainted, the anger as the hint of sadness clearly to hear.
Luc inhaled deep. Like Safin, he was already deeply occupied with this new task - and it was surprising heavier then any poisoned gas.
“This Reef is dying.”, he diagnosed.
His words hung like a threat in the air, before Safin allowed himself to nod.
“Yes.”, he whispered. “I rather would wait for the full examples and test results to make this conclusion - but you are right.”
Luc dared to rest a hand on Safin's shoulder. He squeezed it fondly.
“We will find out what to do.”
Safin stared a moment on the screen, the fingertips of his left hand covering shortly his mouth, as he was in deep thoughts.
Eventually he sighed and composed himself. Getting up he catched Luc's eyes.
Pushing his hands Crossway into his sleeves he leans at his chair. He watched his right hands face keenly.
“What would you propose?”
“Finding a local.”, Luc answered promptly. “Not a scientist, but a person who knows the reefs, probably dives since childhood. Someone with real knowledge of the Reef and the lifeforms.”
Safin pursed his lips and nodded slowly.
“Someone with real ideas how to stop the destruction - or at least help to nourish the surviving corals and Reef life forms?”
“Something like that.”
Safin felt a stinch of headache behind his eyes and pressed for a moment thumb and middle finger on his eyes.
“It is late, Lyutsifer.”, Luc said as a reaction to Safin's gesture. His voice was unusual soft, so Safin gave him a surprised look.
“I missed dinner, right?”
“Tatjana didn't mind.”, Luc said. “As long as you don't forget to join her in bed.”
Safin purred his lips to one of his weird smiles. The idea of an employee to speak about a subject of such private matter was unheard. Safin would not allow it - except with Luc. Luc was - together with Marie - a family member.
“Well, perhaps I should find my way to bed then. Before I get a scolding from Tatjana - or worst, Marie.”, he chuckled. Turning to the screen he switched it out.
“I want the sample results after breakfast by 800.”
Luc smirked and saltured lazy.
“Aye.”

“It's not about the money, Lyutsifer. Not really.”, Zorin tried to explain.
Safin watched him. The eyes wide, filled with - - fear? The thin, gray face deep furrowed by age. An ugly face.
“Don't tell me it is about honour or friendship.”, Safin mumbled, the tone of his voice bored. He looked at his nails, enjoying the distress of the older man.
“It is business. Simple as that. You get the money after sending the pawn. If you are not able to repay me in a year, the pawn stays with me. Simple.”
He faced Maksemilian, curious to see the Doctors reaction, gleeful, knowing he is in charge of this situation. How very satisfying.
“Halyna is no pawn.”
“Chose your next words more wisely, dyadya Maks.”, Safin responds coldly. He was getting annoyed. This leads to nothing.
He attempted to get up. “We are fin-”
“No!”, Zorin threw in. “No.”, he repeated himself, looking down at his hands. “We - we shall proceed. I have to speak to Alysa first, though.”
“Of course.”, Safin purred. “You do that. I will pack. My helicopter will arrive in two hours.”

10. Employment
"It's me."
Bond blinked. For a second he held the phone at his ear and stared into the sea, his brain empty. Then his memory kicked in. "The diver.", he said.
"Yeah, wise guy. The diver. Probably your new housekeeper.", she answered nonchalant. Bond could hear her wide grin.
"That would be perfect. Dirty dishes all over the place.", he jested back.
"Well, then clean a bit up. I was thinking of checking the place out, before I make a decision."
Bond nodded and realized then that she couldn't see him. "Shall I order a water taxi for you before I get to work? My treat of course."
"Naah, I don't want to rip yu off at the first official meeting.", she laughed.
"I'm relieved to hear that..?!"
Bond realized he didn't knew her name. That was even new to him.
He listend into the pause, waiting for an jipper back.
She just chuckled. "I tell yu the name when we meet. I will be there by 7, savvy?"
"Savvy.", Bond muttered but heard already the disconnect tone.
Shaking his head he set the phone aside. 'In what kind of situation I have brought me here?', he wondered.
She came with a bag.
The small taxi boat moored for a moment, waving to Bond, who hurried at the landing dock.
She was already off boat, a duffel bag at her shoulder, as he arrived.
“Hey! What a enthusiastic welcome!”, she teased him.
“Well, I really need help here.”
“So it looks.”
Laughing with her, Bond took her bag and guarded her to the beach.
Nodding to his dock house, a bamboo cabin, he tried to make natural conversion. He felt surprisedly nervous around her. It may be her direct way to speak, or the knowing glances she gave him. As if she could read his mind.
“Classic.”, she clicked with her tongue and strolled confident through the front door.
Stepping by that in the main room, she took her time to absorb the house.
The furniture was a mix of light bamboo and mahogany, surrounding lazily a long, dark wooden table I the middle of the living room.
The bamboo sofa was adored with some colourful cushion. A used blanket rested rolled up aside the armrest, it's colours washed away by time.
The table was halfway decked with stack of books. The fine powder of dust and some fingerprints made it clear that this were books Bond has set aside to read - but didn't had found the time yet.
“Is that the kitchen?”, Bond's guest entered the smaller, but light room. This room were proper cleaned, some plates still resting on the wooden dish dryer.
“Mmhm.”, she hummed and twirled around to give him a wide smile. "Shona.”
Bond narrowed his eyes, his head softly tilting. He smirked eventually. “Shona.”, he repeated.
His guest smiled and offered her hand for a shake.
“Shona Stephenson. Your new 'reinemakefrau'.”
James clashed his hand with hers and laughed as he got the reference.
“Brilliant!”

9. Sleeping habits
Tatjana woke up by soft movements on the matress.
She frownd and grunted as a small figure pushed her aside to settle in the open space. A low giggle and more pushing, She heard her husband mumble annoyed and it went still again.
She rested with close eyes, waiting that slumber catches her again.
The day behind her was long and exciting, from the exploration of the underwater living space with all the rooms and corridors, to the joined and happy dinner with Luc, Marie, the boys and Lyutsifer, to the stressful attempt to get the boys to bed in their new rooms.
Safin had let build a wonderful room for his sons, with nautic bunks in the wall with blue night lights. The walls decked with warm, wooden planks, the ground soft playground tiles - easy to clean and slightly bouncing like rubber - a big glass wall for the boys to look on a reef, as also a climbing frame in the middle of the room.
A shelf, filled with illustrated book, from biology subject, adventures to fairy tale, finished the room. Tatjana would had loved to had such a room as a child herself.
But the boys were nervous, especially Maksimilian was unsure if papa would still be there at the next morning. Safin had spoken to him with his sweet tongue of persuasion to calm him.
"We are in the next room. Yes, we let the door open. Of course you can switch your night light on. No, you don't need another glass of water. Yes, I will be here. In fact, I will wake you up for breakfast. Yes, we can have breakfast together. With Luc. And Marie. And Mama too… "
Matvei was asleep in minutes, listening to Safin's low voice. Maksimilian clinched at his papa's hand with wide open eyes, until Safin started to tell him a story. "Starushke bylo odinoko .."
Tatjana had left and went to bed with a book to wait for Safin. She woke up three hours later as the book felt with a loud bouncing noise to the ground. Bewildered she rubbed her face and looked left to Safin's side, what was empty.
Getting out of bed she tiptoed to the children's room. Maksimilians blue night light was still on and illuminated the view of him, sleeping soundly, Safin laying at his side with uncomfortable folded legs, but snoring softly.
Tatjana hesitated first to wake her husband. But the bunk bed was so small, Safin so grouched in it, she was sure he would get spine pain im the morning.
Softly touching him at the shoulder Safin's eyes shut open at once.
He didn't moved first, but looked around until a knowing glance appeared in his eyes.
He nodded lightly and got up and out of the bunk in slow motion, not to wake Maksimilian.
Eventually back in their own bed he stretched with a groan.
"I know.", Tatjana spoke apologizing. "I should not had let the boys slept in my bed. But they were the closes thing to their father and it soothed me.", Tatjana whispered.
Safin looked at her with his serious face and reached for her. Pulling her close he held her and kissed her hair.
"I'm truly sorry I had you get through this. But is it over now. The boys need more time, that is all. I don't mind."
Tatjana sighed in agreement and closed her eyes. Catched in his scent and listening to his heartbeat she felt quickly asleep, with the assumption to get finally some rest.
Until the sneakily invasion in the early morning that was.
Now, laying at the very end of the matress, the bed frame pressed at her buttock, she looked up to relish in the view the faint light of the corridor showed her. Matvei, im his full length stretched diagonally upon the bed, Maksimilian, nestled at his father's bare chest and Safin himself, still deep asleep, drowling on his cushion.
'This is my family.', Tatjana smiled and closed her eyes again. The snoring sound of her three men in her ear, slumber catched her eventually.

8. Treasures
"I can't believe you never introduced me to this place!" Felix, his left hand wrapped around a bottle of local beer, nearly pouted.
Bond smiled to himself.
'Kim's' was a special place to him. The place was a bit hidden, mostly frequenced by locals to sit, to drink, having home cooked tasting meal, while a band plays in the back of the bar.
He came always alone to this place, having a bit 'him' time after days with Tatjana, Marie and the boys.
"I'm glad you like it, Felix.", he said and leaned his elbows on the bar. "Try the braised goat sandwich. It's the best."
Before he could say anything more a woman settled on the chair aside him, greeting the owner like a family friend, while ignoring him.
Bond watched her. A local girl. No, a woman. In her thirties, a sportive body, probably a diver.
Her skin was shining by sun and fresh air, alas she looked exhausted.
She got her food without order, so Bond assumed she belonged to the family of the household.
"Can I get you a beer to the dish?", Bond asked her spontaneous.
She looked at him with a confused glance. "Sure. If you have too much money.. be my guest."
Bond smirked by the tone of her voice, bratty as teasing and he bobbed his head to the bar man, who had watched their exchange.
A moment later a bottle was setted in front of her plate.
"Yuh welcome.", Bond spoke in pawtah.
"Tank yuh.", she chuckled.
Bond recognized two things at this moment; she was curious about him, and Felix changed in silence his seat, giving Bond and the girl space.
"Yuh no tourist.", she continue to speak in the jamaican accent.
"Nope. Retired on one of the small islands.", Bond cleared that up and took a sip from his bottle.
"Oh!! I know who you are! The family man!"
Bond coughed at his sip of beer. "What? No!", he gasped out and wiped his mouth. The woman aside him giggled.
'Well, at least I haven't forgotten to make a strange woman laugh', Bond thought to himself. He turned fully to her and focused on her face.
"She is friend. Became a Widow a year ago and she and the boys staid for a while.", he explained.
The woman smiled softly and set her elbow on the bar, and supported her chin on the palm of her hand.
"And now she's gone? Yuh alone?"
Bond looked a moment stunned at her. Eventually he brought out: "Yes. Alone and in need of company."
Behind him he heard Felix ordering another beer and the goat sandwich. The band started another song, slow and sobby.
"Aha. And what would be the duty of this 'companion'?", she chuckled. Her tone wasn't repellent, so Bond was encouraged enough to went on.
"House keeping. Official at least. Free weekends. Having someone around." Bond shrugged and added: "The rest.. well, it depends on sympathy I would say."
"Interesting.", she mumbled.
"Why? Know someone?"
"How is the payment?", she asked frank.
"555000 jamaican dollars per month." Bond answered without hesitating. Behind him he heard Felix gasping. "Plus dinner dates and gifts, when one.. know each other better.", he went on.
The woman narrowed her eyes. "Yuh fukin kiddin?"
Bond shrugged. "One can get really lonely at an island. And I like to share."
A pause expanded between the woman and Bond. He took care not to check her body out, but gazed at her face and her long, chocolate hair, what felt in cascades of waves down her shoulder.
She ate her sandwich in silence, ignoring him for now, but Bond could see her working mind behind her eyes. She had shadows under it, surely from work and worries.
He felt like an arsehole now. Did he tried to bribe her? Buy her? She was certainly offended. He shrugged to himself. She had asked after all.
He turned back from her and looked up to the small telly that was fixed up the ceiling. The local news were on.
"Could we get some volume?", Felix asked the bar man, who obeyed.
[.. found the executive director yesterday evening in his house. The local police assumed a suicide. A week ago Mr. Lambert was accused of payola and suspended of his duty…]
The woman beside Bond snorted a laugh. Bond turned back to her with a rising eye bow.
"What's so funny about suicide?"
"Nutting.", she mumbled and swallowed. Licking her fingers then - a view that was quite enjoyable to Bond - she went on: "My former boss. Tis fuker stuffed his pockets full with the Rolex money."
Bond looked at her with blank face. She sighed.
"No getting no news on ya Island? The reef deal. Rolex spend money for the non-profit reef rescue mission and our director took some." She shook her head and reached out for the rest of her sandwich. "Oldest play in the book. Think is.. Suicide? Him? I rather guess someone went after him." She gave him a dark look. "A lot of people lost their job. Me, for example."
Bond smiled sympaticly. "What did you do at this non-profits company?"
"A lot of stuff. Diving with tourist groups to make sure they don't visit the reefs alone.
" Why? To avoide accidents? ", Bond asked curiously.
She frowned." Nooo! To avoide that this stupid tourists destroy the reef!"
She finished her sandwich and emptied her bottle, before saying: "Can you imagine what happend when out barrier reef dies because of hunting and coral stealing tourists? We will have a famite at hand. Here. In the middle of paradise."
Bond took note of her enthusiasm and seriousness for this subject. He knew already, tonight he would look up everything about the reefs and the company. Maybe only for the sake of having a better conversation ground with her.
"You sounds like a clever woman.", Bond answered, showing how impressed he was of her.
She smiled tiresome and set her empty bottle hard on the bar. Gliding from her chair she muttered: "We'll see about that.", and stretched her hand out, showing Bond her caramel palm.
"Yuh hav a card? A number?", she said. "I call yuh tomorrow, tellin yes or no."
Perplex Bond got his card out and hand it to her.
"Tanks.", she said and turned to walk away.
The bar man eyed Bond critical while polishing some glasses. Bond blinked confused.
Behind him, Felix chuckled. "Well, that was quick. Even for you."

Summary: James Bond retirement on the Bahamas is calm and peaceful. SPECTRE is defeated, Lyutsifer Safin dead and Bond's substitute family - Tatjana, the twins and Marie - with him.
But the circumstances oft the surprised suicide of the chairman from the BREEF ( Bahama Reef Environmental Educational Foundation) brings the former agent back to work.
1. Good help is hard to find
Hinx walked slowly down the stairs, one foot after another. The stair railing was old and rusty and the dim light let him see not more than three steps ahead. The man behind him with the tranquillizer gun let him step down cautiously.
If he got shoot down on the twirled staircase he could fall into his death.
More annoyed than angry about this dubious invitation he was forced to take, Hinx wondered who was so eager to meet him.
Six men had persuaded Hinx to climb in the helicopter. He had refused to do so, what ended in three deaths before the leader had used a tranquillizer at him. Woken up at the end of the journey, confused and with a mild headache, Hinx had decided to go along - for now.
He stumbled as he found no more steps but an even ground to step on. Grunting frustrated he straightened his shoulder and looked in the barely illuminated corridor what laid in front of him. The end of it was pitch black, nevertheless a couple of faint, caged light bulbs shone along it.
"Forward."
Hinx turned his head to the man with the gun and a scenario rushed through his mind. The man was close enough to fight, and a neck is easy to break. For Hinx that is. He shoved the idea aside there his curiosity was grown enough. He wanted to know where this would lead to.
He walked along the corridor and stumbled nearly again in surprise of the view he got.
The walls of the corridor were not solid, but - hopefully bullet-proof - tank glass.
Hinx swallowed as he realized by the darker shade of turquoise blue he was at least 5 metres under water.
He walked further, not letting the glass walls out of his view, an easy task, now understanding the whole tunnel must have been once a tourist attraction. The silhouette of a hammerhead shark swam aside the right glass wall, while a swarm of small lilac reef fishes rushed away from him.
'This must be a glorious view to behold by day' , he thought to himself, wondering if he would ever had the time to find out.
The hammerhead shark react on the motion of the both men in the tunnel, swam a low loop and crossed their view again. He looked at the men's shadows with dead looking eyes, his disformed head waving around by the next loop he took. Hinx could make out a near reef behind the shark, even in this dark hour colourful and bussing with life, but had to turn away. He had reached the corridors end.
A iron door, brand new by constitution and colour, blocked his way.
He paused, and waited for instruction. The man behind him stood silent and waited with him, as if he - Hinx - should find out by himself how to get through the next level.
"Don't tell me the Passworts is 'Swordfish'", Hinx grumbled out to say something, but the moment he spoke a female computer voice answered.
/voice activation /check /welcome Mr Hinx/
The iron door swung open and Hinx blinked into a full lighted corridor, the walls solid and eggshell white painted. He smirked to himself and felt at easy. He knew now who had invited him.
The lights were warm and yellow coloured, a attempt to fake sunlight. His 'new' boss made sure his employees would not miss that, here, deep under water. Different variations of plants in all shades of green were carefully arranged, the most of them having an asian touch.
The next door swung open by itself and let Hinx in an office. Here were the walls also painted im the egg-white colour, but the only plant in the room was a small bonsai. The ground was covered by dark, wooden planks and one side of the room had also a glass-wall. Hinx could see here again a colourful reef in the dark-turquoise water, stingrays flowing upon it. Behind the simple desk in the middle of the room sat his host and smiled with his broken face.
"Mr. Hinx. I'm glad to see you. Tell me, are you willingly and ready for your first task?"
Hinx just nodded with a fine smile. This should be getting interesting.

7. Underwater Love 🍋
Tatjana was in awe of her new home.
Safin walked with her around the corridors of his little underwater retreat, helping her to get familiar with the environment. Their both arms linked they strolled in a diamond formed circle of halls and walls, sometimes broken by the view of the underwater world by secured glass.
"How did you found this beautiful place?"
"I once read in an Forbes magazine about it.", Safin explained. "An old, abandoned underwater attraction, destroyed by a tropical cyclone. I managed to get my hand on it actually a long time ago, not as a new Lair, but simply as a short term hideout."
He reached out for her hand to fondle upon it, as if he himself had to make sure she was really with him.
"Neither me or Luc had plans to build it out this far. But you know how it is sometimes. One idea leads to another and the hiding place that should have at least a kitchen and warm water suddenly become a project. And after we got the HAYTNMYC II here for repair work we started to build further rooms."
The more Safin told her, the more questions Tatjana had. She dared not to speak them out yet. For know she wanted to relish in the fact that her husband was alive and she with him. That was all that mattered at the moment.
Safin entered the next room with her and Tatjana realized at once this was the main room. Laying im the middle of this old tower the aquarium view was on the ceiling. Dark water flooded over their heads was intimating at first glance. Safin, reading Tatjana's glance, let go of her arm and stepped to the low tea table in the middle of the room, sitting cushions and a round futon sofa circling it. He picked up a remote control and showed it her.
"The view is quite better by daylight.", he said and showed her which button to press. At once a dark foil spread out and covered the view, while scones automatically started to work, illuminating the room im a warm light.
"Beautiful.", Tatjana muttered and turned around for a full view.
She got stopped by Safin, who had got hold of her shoulders.
"Nothing is a beautiful as you.", he rasped out.
Tatjana heard the change of tone in his voice and her body react at once to it.
Turning to him she cupped his face in her hand and carred with her thumbs along his broken cheeks.
"Introduce me to the furniture, will you?", she said with a chuckle in her voice. "Is it comfy, my pirate?"
Safin answered with a smirk, resting his hands on her waist.
Tatjana sighed by the touch and let him guard her as he pressed her gentle down to the futon sofa.
"Depends.", Safin whispered. "on with whom one share the furniture."
Hunger befallen Tatjana. Hunger and need. It was she who pressed her lips demanding on his and he answered even so firecly, his teeth grinting at her lower lip.
In a moment Tatjana was pinned beneath Safin and she moaned by the pressure of his body. She wrapped one of her legs demanding around his small hips, holding him close. She whimpered I in need as she could feel his hard body rubbing at hers.
"Sirena..", she heard him mumble in the kiss. She hummed back, gaged by his tongue but didn't mind.
Greedily as he was she answered, nearly fighted with him until she submit to their needs.
His hands under her dress, cold and harsh, covered her body with goosebumps. Her nipples piecing up she moaned as his chest pinned her further down.
She felt his hands torning her panties and the crack of ripped fabric let her shiver.
Safin broke the kiss and got a bit up to free himself. His cock nearly jumped out of his trousers and she savoured the view before he demanded: "Eyes on me."
Tatjana smiled and opened herself up to him.
"Shut up.", she dared to say. "Shut up and fuck me properly."
She saw him flashing his wide, ugly smile, that she loved so much and in a moment he did as she demanded.
Shrieking out she didn't backed of but bucked her hips to him. She did not held still, nor tried she to be silent.
" Yes! YES! SAFIN!", she shouted in glee as in pain by his stretching movements. In so short time she wasn't used to his roughness anymore, alas she welcomed it. She needed it.
Her eyes on his face, her hands on his hips she groaned out as he start to move seriously, a steady pace, his eyes glued on hers.
"My sweet Sirena .. Such a good girl..", he panted, his hair falling in his face.
"Always, Safin. Always."
They do not last long. The hunger for each other drove both easily to the hill of bliss and as Tatjana started to shake and to laugh she listened with satisfaction to the deep growled answer of her husband.
At the end it was Tatjana, who started to sob uncontrollable; relief as happiness overwhelming her.
“My pirat ... my pirat ...”

5. Coming Home
Tatjana needed half an hour to get through the shark-watch tunnel with the boys. Pressing their noses on the glass the twins couldn't torn away their eyes from the wonders of the sea.
At any other time she would had join in, being in awe of the whole surrounding. But her mind were elsewhere.
The travel was surprisingly short. Tatjana was baffled as she understood he had hide all the time so close to James's island. Baffled and angry.
He had his reason, of course, as he always had. One year. One fucking year she was a Widow and she had enough of that.
She looked to Mr. Hinx and smiled tiresome. "I apologize. The boys are wild, I am inpatient, and you are clearly overqualified for this kind of errands."
She tugged at Maksimilian's and Matvei's hands. "Please guy's.."
Marie joined her with trembling fingers.
Hinx, watching the women with a stony face, had not spoken much, but had told Tatjana to collect the most important items and to come with her. Where to, or to whom, he had not said. It wasn't really necessary, was it?
Keen to find her hopes and wishes for a year come true, Tatjana, Marie and the twins went with him. No questions asked. Mr. Hinx had an order he had to fulfil and that they be safe.
Now, in the half darkness of this abandoned underwater observation it was clear to her. There was only one man she knew who would re-build such a Lair.
While she and Marie tried to lure away the twins from the glass, a metal door at the end of the dim illuminated tunnel opened and quick steps came forward.
Marie screamed out and flied into Luc's arms. Cursing in french she threw her fists at him while crying in joy.
Tatjana teared up as she watched the reunion of Marie and her husband, a wild, happy storm of love and adoration.
Maksimilian and Matvai stood still in amazement, not yet able to realize what that could mean for them.
Eventually Marie calmed and cleaned her nose, looking ashamed around while Luc grinned like an idiot. He gave Tatjana an encouraging wink that let her heart flutter. She took a shaking breath in and out.
Luc shared a glance with Hinx and announced: "Let me show you all your quarters. It looks from the outside old and broken, but we put a lot of work and effort in it." He crouched in front of the boys, who now fully recognized Luc and got his embraces. "I missed you guys.", he cheered up.
It was Matvei who asked the important question: "Luc? Mama told us you and papa are dead? If you are here..?", he stopped, suddenly shy and looked to his brother, who finished the sentence boldly: ".. is papa here too?"
Luc looked up to Tatjana, who glanced back with a begging, teary look in her eyes.
Luc smirked and opend his mouth to answer, yet he got cut off by another, dark, rasp voice.
"Yes. I'm here."
The boy's went ballistic. Screaming loud and howling they rushed to their father, clinching and climbing on him.
Safin's expression of coolness and dignity broke down by a wide smile and glittering eyes.
Tatjana, her hands pressed on her chest to calm her wild heart, sniffed up by the view of their reunion. How, how she loved him in this moment!
She was angry, though, wanted to slap him for the charade he had played a year ago. Alas she did understood it was necessary that his enemies think him dead.
"safin …", she whispered. "lyutsifer .."
He hushed the boys down, resting his hands on their heads and whispered to them: "Go with Luc and Marie. You have a wonderful room for you both, with bunkbeds, like real sailors. We see us at dinner, yes?"
Maksimilian clinched harder at his father. "Promise?"
"Of course.", Safin told his son. "I promise. And I don't take my promises lightly. You know that."
Maksimilian smiled and wiped his face. Marie got both boy's and went with Luc inside the facility.
Safin watched them go and glanced to Hinx, who followed.
Finally alone Tatjana stared a moment at her husband, still afraid it may be an illusion. Until he came forward and rested his cold hand on her neck.
Catching her wet eyes the corner of his lips curled up and he leaned in to kiss the skin between her neck and her shoulder. Her sweet spot.
Tatjana shivered and a single tear left her right eye.
She felt his scarred skin on hers as he sniffed suggestive at her neck.
"I can smell it.", his low exotic voice filled her ear. "Saltwater and sunbeam. My Sirena."

4. Be careful what you wish for
Bond held himself at the rim of the water taxi, glancing over to his island.
He was tired after the long travel to the UK and back to the bahamas, and a part of him wished to be alone for a day, or two, wallowing in self-pity.
He pressed the though down. The twins would torn him just too quickly out of his dark clouds and he would be thankful for that.
At the little Marina he payed the driver with a thick tip and climbed up the dock.
Turning around he watched the taxi leaving, his hand in the trouser pockets. For a moment he paused and held up his face into the warm sunlight.
'To hell with England.'
Here he had a warm home with a climate that he needed by his body condition as for his mental health.
Too long he had withhold the idea of retirement, of his sunset years and he had missed out the peace and glee of it. Tatjana, Marie and especially the twins had helped him to find the good in that. To relish every day. To treat himself with good food, not luxurious, but 'good' food! To stay healthy, to move, to laugh.
He was grateful. Other men in his business were dead. 'He' should be dead long ago. He had survived and it was on him to fill the hours that laid before him with joy.
He sighed and turns to the path that leads to his house. In the corner of his eyes he saw a bucket standing there, forgotten my the boy's, so he assumed.
He went to get it and paused again, looking inside.
Three craps sat inside, barely covered in water. Two of them were eating the third, smaller one.
Staggered he took the bucket at the handle and carried it with him to the house. It wasn't Tatjana's way to be this sloppy. Particularly with food.
He got a second surprise as he found three more buckets on the veranda he just stepped on.
He looked from the bucket in his hand to the other three one, and slowly setted his bucket down. Even so slowly he reached for his gun and switched off the safety.
He listend.
Bird tweets and thriller in the air around him, animals rustling in the unterholz. No sound of the boys.
With hammering heart he entered the veranda fully while listening to wrong noises and looking out for shadows that doesn't belong here. Blood rushing in his ears he reached with the free hand for the door and gave it a push. It swung open to the inside and Bond followed to spin around, checking the blind corner behind the door. His knee made a cracking sound.
'not now'
To his own surprise he switched way too easily in work mood and checked one room after another in spiral formation.
In the middle of the house - in the kitchen - he paused breathless. He wiped his forehead and realized that he was shaking. Not by fear but by the exercise.
Knowing now that he was alone in the house he calmed down and put his gun back in his holster. All he could hear was his breath and the bumble sound of the fridge. He turned automatically to it and got a beer out of the door. As he closed his eye fell on the envelope on it, fixed with a fridge magnet in avocado shape.
James,
I am so sorry for the quick departure. I have not seen this coming. If I had known I would had told you, to soften the blow. You know that.
I cannot put in words the gratitude I feel to you. You gave us a home. You fed us. You loved us as we are.
I understand if you can't feel love or friendship to me anymore. But I hope the thought that I am now at the place I belong, the place at 'his' side, can sooth you a bit.
I will always adore you, James.
We are forever in your debt. He knows that too.
Always your friend,
TS
Bond read the letter twice while disappointment and anger fought for the emotional first place.
Eventually he crumpled the letter to a ball, his knuckles becoming white by that. He tasted bile and spit on the ground.
"Bloody bitch!"

2. A last goodbye
Bond wasn't pleased.
He had thought he would see England never again. He didn't wanted to see it again.
Now he stood under an umbrella in front of the Chelsea flat of Eve. It was raining cats and dogs and Bond had the feeling it was a fitting weather for the conversation he had to have with Eve.
Just an hour ago he had arrived in Heathrow, with a ticket to London and back home on the same day. He was sure he made the right decision.
Wondering if she let him in he walked to the main door and felt his left knee acting up. He hated break-ups at the door steps, especially by this kind of weather. Taking a deep breath he used the doorbell. To his surprise the buzzer answered at once.
He stepped in the house floor and heared Eve's voice two floors upon him. "Lift is broken!"
'Of course.'
"All good, darling!", he called up and clenched his teeth.
He took his time walking up the stairs to the second floor. Not only to care for his itching knee but thinking of the words he would have to say to her. Should he speak at all, or let her explain? But what was here to explain? It was over and both should be mature enough to confess it.
Eve leaned at her open door, the floor light from her flat throwing a coat of light around her figure.
She looked beautiful as always, even with her bathrobe wrapped firm around her slim body. There were times she had greeted him in satin or silk. Tonight it was her old but comfy robe. That spoke more to him as any words.
Reaching her door Bond looked at Eve and she answers with a knowing glance.
She looked up his feature, the coat wet, the folded umbrella in his hand dripping down to create a puddle on the ground.
He did say nothing.
Eve sighed. "Come in, James. Let me get you a towel."
He followed her inside the flat, clean, warm and beautiful as she.
An open wardrobe with a mirror and an umbrella stand was to his right. He let the wet umbrella fell in it and stared in the looking glass. A grey, tired face stared back.
Eve came and handed him the towel, and turned then to the small kitchen. "I just made me a coffee. Want some, James?"
"Gladly.", Bond spoke finally, to his horror in a weak voice.
'I'm not here to dump her. I'm here to ask for a chance, like the desperate fool I am.' He already knew this would not work out.
The towel on his head he striped the coat and hung it up. Following Eve then in the kitchen he entered while rubbing his hair and face with it.
"I apologize for the unannounced visit. I.. had to come."
Eve frowned. "And you did not want to talk on the phone.", she added, not a question. She setted two cups of coffee on the table and Bond sat down.
In uncomfortable silence they sipped at their cups, until Bond broke it.
"I'm not sure if we have to talk." He looked down to his black coffee and dared then to face Eve.
"I think I wanted to say goodbye in person."
Bond watched Eve's face, an expression of relief on it.
"It was great. Fantastic. Comfortable. Until it wasn't.", Bond went on. "That is the time to stop. We should have stopped to see us two month ago."
He recognized his voice sounded confident again. He was on familiar terrain. He was here so often. Said goodbye to too many woman. But it hurts anyway. Every time.
Eve looked at him, a fine smile in the corner of her lips." We had a run for a while, hadn't we? "
Bond smirked and nodded. He took a sip of coffee, more to moisture his throat then to enjoy the black fluid.
"This old dog isn't good in running anymore.", he jested clumsily.
Eve chuckled nevertheless.
"This old dog surprised many of us. Especially me… James —"
"No. No, it's fine, Eve."
Bond looked at her, already more sentiment then sad. "Is he good to you?"
He could simply not resist to let her know.
"He is. Spoiling me to death."
Bond nodded with pursed lips. "You deserve it. If he starts to act up -"
Eve laughed. That broke the ice.
He chuckled facilitated with her and leaned back in the chair. Relaxed now, there the worst were done, he reached again for his coffee, slipping already back in the role of a paternal friend.
" I mean it. You call me. I come."
Eve smiled wide and looked at him fondly. "I know you will, James. Thank you. For coming tonight."
"It was on time."

6. Blue Devils
Bond took a long gulp out of his beer bottle. His eyes were glued on the view in front of him to avoid to look at his visitor, sitting next to him.
".. you know what's the hardest thing is? It's so bloody still around here.."
Bond swallowed and held his glance on the sunset - a cascade of bright orange to fire red - until he was sure his eyes staid dry.
Then he turned to his visitor. "I miss the loud and chaotic buggers the most. Imagine that."
Felix watched Bond with growing uncomforted. As Bond had called him this morning, on a secure line, Felix pulse had rose to the sky. James? Calling him out of the blue? In secret?
And now the man was sitting in front of him was like a role model for defeatism.
After what he had gathered, James lost not only his girlfriend, but also a foster family. What kind of comfort was there to give?
His glance felt on the letter, the paper crushed and straightened again for him to read. After reading the letter, he was confident that Tatjana had known her husband wasn't dead. She had waited for him, using James and his hospitality.
"It's probably my fault.", Bond muttered and cramped his hand around the bottleneck that Felix waited for a cracking sound.
"What do you mean, brother? You were right, she was a bitch. 'His' bitch.", Felix frowned.
"No. I.. I played 'house' with her.", Bond spoke slowly and placed the bottle - the sevenths - on the table aside him. "She was living with me like.. like a wife - without the sex, though. The boys.." Bond's face crumbled. "Fock, I adore them. This kids.."
"You know it was a delusion.", Felix spoke low. He leaned over the table to Bond. "James. Look at me."
He waited that Bond turned his head to him. "She walked back the line. She probably couldn't go forward. But you, James. You are able to look forward. To go forward. It's like a clean cut. It burns at first. Like hell. But you know better like anybody, better like any men, there is another goal, another task, another girl.", he spoke.
Bond laughed, and Felix was shocked to hear the bitterness in his friend's voice. He really liked Tatjana. Too much, so it occurred to him.
"Did you called Q?", Felix asked and held his voice calm.
Now Bond was to frown. "Should I? I mean, she wasn't his girl.."
For a long moment silence wrapped around the men.
"She wasn't yours, neither. What ever you had thought would happen, it was only in your head, James."
James narrowed his eyes. "She was a friend. I trusted her."
"Well, then you're right. It was your fault. You should have known better."
Bond pondered a while upon that. He was a man, who had always enjoyed the opposite sex. He also enjoyed being single. To take what he could reach. To have fun, preferably for both sides. He wanted more from Tatjana for a long time. Suddenly, Blofeld came into his mind. The picture of him, laying on his back, the fork sticking in his chest. Bond shuttered. No.
"I think you're right, Felix.", he spoke and leaned back in his chair. Crossing his arms in front of his broad chest he looked at his friend.
Felix smiled encouraging. "Listen, James. Let us see what is in your kitchen. We make us good dinner and some drinks and remember good old times. And tomorrow you visit the main land, looking for a young and pretty housekeeper to take your mind off. As long as you pay her well and treat her better, you will find one who didn't mind. "
Bond had to smirk at Felix idea. "This is disgusting. I can't do that!", he spoke lamely.
"Getting shy in age, James?", Felix laughed.
"No, but.." Bond stopped and searched for words until he confessed: "Never paid for 'that'."
"What? Oh, come on! You're not this good!"
"I am not - I mean..", Bond found himself stuttering. Felix beside him was shaking in a fit of laugher.
"You know what I mean..", he muttered between clenched teeth.
Felix, his face in tears, shook his head.
"Arsehole.", Bond mumbled, but felt a tickle of laugher in his throat already.
Felix took a deep breath and wiped his face. "Man! Your face!"
"Ah, shut up." Bond pointed to the grill. "Check the coals and start a fire. Let me see what I find in the kitchen."
He got up and reached out fast for the table. The beer on an empty stomach wasn't a good idea. His blood circle acting up, his legs wobbly, he nearly crashed the table down, what leaded to another fit of laughers from Felix.
"Arg! Just kindly fuck off!", Bond growled, but this time the laugher in his throat slipped out.
He found himself giggling over the circumstance that he wasn't even trained enough to hold his liquor.
"A housekeeper?"
"Jep."
Bond concentrated and managed to stand straight.
"How much do you think I should pay this kind of 'housekeeping'?"
"The double of what you think is enough.", Felix answered at once.
"You gave that some thought, brother?"
"James."
"Yes, Felix?"
"Check the kitchen. We need to eat something."
"Yes, Felix."
