Pridak Revamp

A true departure from the classical style of ice villains, Pridak was an incredibly divisive set when originally released in 2007, and condemned as one of the weaker Barraki designs. Abstract in frame, he was one of several Barraki to experiment with a more fluid design and set designer Brian Ellis’ recent YouTube video has brought some insight into the complicated design process that led to his conceptualization.

Stylized as a shark-piranha hybrid, Pridak was originally intended to have a double-jointed torso, though his design was simplified to accommodate the bloated parts budget of later 2007 sets. The end result was a single Hordika-neck joint propping up two Vahki torsos, which left a great deal to be desired. Unfortunately, this meant that the design also strayed some distance from Brian's original intentions for the figure.

With this revamp, I’ve endeavored to build on the original design intended for Pridak, with my own spin. I’ve added smooth Inika armor plating with red spikes for that shark motif and have even reinforced his legs with period-appropriate TECHNIC links, for the illusion of emaciated muscle.

This was a very fun project to set myself: honor the original design as though there’d been unlimited budget. This isn’t a far cry from my usual ‘simplistic’ design style and I hope I’ve done Pridak some justice by presenting a MOC that could’ve been an official set!

With the addition of Piraka legs and a piston added to his chest, Pridak is now living up to his fullest potential as the leader of the Barraki!

The meeting between the Mahri Nui Matoran and the newly mutated Toa Inika is amazing

It's like "where were you when everything went wrong for us?" I'm pretty sure they were Matoran at the time, Matoran with their own problems, namely the Makuta. And like "don't you know how things work here?" We just got here!

The thrilling(?) sequel to Canon Appearanceless Mahritoran; Canon Nameless Mahritoran! This time, split into alive and dead because there's so many (there are more than all the named Mahri Nui Matoran characters).

No, I don't know why so many of them are Po-Matoran.

Descriptions taken from Biosector01:

"A Po-Matoran who was the leader of the Mahri Nui Council about a year before the Toa Mahri arrived, who Defilak made a submarine for."

"One of Kyrehx's former teachers; he had a hobby of carving stone replicas of Kanohi." (made him a Po-matoran because yes)

"A Po-Matoran who tried to drive the Toa Mahri away from Mahri Nui."

"A Po-Matoran who reported the disappearance of two of his friends."

A Ta-Matoran who volunteered to fight for Mahri Nui.

"A Le-Matoran who was killed by a Tarakava while testing his invention, the Air Launcher."

"Two Matoran herders killed by the Barraki's armies within six hours of each other around the time the Toa Mahri arrived." (made them Bo- and Vo-Matoran)

Three other Matoran who went missing within two weeks prior to the Toa Mahri arriving in Mahri Nui. (made them Ga-, Le- and Ba-Matoran)

first up we got two little matorans, with very different designs.

this was the first guy i built when getting back into bionicle and he doesnt have a name but i love him.

this next guy is based off of the 2007 mahri nui matoran and toa mahri matoro with the mata foot torso/neck connection and color scheme.

Dekar Revamp

Quick little MOC that was rattling around in my head for a few months, this is Dekar built in the style of a 2008 Matoran!

Immensely happy with this in my own way. I’ve always loved Matoran and Dekar himself has always been very special to me.

Rock Bottom

Almost a decade after the city of Mahri Nui sank into the sea, the Matoran who live there discover a new and dangerous threat from the deepest depths.

Rock Bottom features a mixed cast of canon and fanon characters in the watery setting of Mahri Nui. It remixes the story of '07 while maintaining the dark and moody atmosphere of Mahri Nui and the Pit.
