Clever Arabic Words Are Illustrated to Match Their Actual Meaning by Mahmoud Tammam

Alexandria, Egypt based artist Mahmoud Tammam crafts beautiful letters, fusing them with befitting illustrations, as part of his personal project.

His Arabic typography series explores various members of the animal kingdom where each letter is composed using phenomenal techniques, incorporating the creature in the curves and creases of the letters that spell out the name. Additionally, the pronunciation of these Arabic illustrated words is included on every drawing to help us sound them out properly. According to his words, “I have always been fascinated by word manipulation, so I started this project as a personal challenge”. His simple yet stunning series is a collection of forty words, which people from all over the world fell in love with. His typography is simple, minimal and chic, an artistic effort that bridges the gap between language barrier.
