#how does eiden keep doing that #that. naked magic. tablecloth sweep but suddenly it's rated oops for selective nudity #this is the 2nd time i've drawn eiden motion blur swiping yaku's clothes off. will this become a pattern?#yes i am still thinking about aegis r2. naked apron forever #i know there was probably an interlude. a moment between R1 and R2 [R1.5]#where eiden said TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES ok now put the apron back on #and yakumo's all ??? JUST the apron? ?? ??#then we go into R2 and it starts with yakumo questioning eiden's costume direction #but i wouldn't put it past eiden's mystical part time abilities #to be able to selectively nakify his clan members #haHA! behold! the art of misdirection! NOW WITH SEXY CONSEQUENCES!!#at some point in the future eiden will show off his tablecloth swoosh trick (the legitimate one. that actually uses the tablecloth)#and yakumo will be mildly wary the entire time. hands hovering near his crotch area as he was lucky to do the FIRST time #anyway eiden performs the trick successfully. no one's clothes slide off. the tablecloth is swooshed. the dishes are intact.#now we can either leave it at that or go the route of Violence #like the dramatic samurai strike. there's a moment of nothing . THEN EVERYONE IN THE ROOM LOSES THEIR CLOTHES IN A GUST OF WIND #EIDEN'S ULTIMATE ATTACK!!!!! I think a lot about Leo’s tendency to push his way into the spotlight despite clearly being a natural in the shadows. Hell, you could argue that his worst moments are when he’s forcing himself onstage, and his best are when he does things no one notices until it’s already been done.

Raph’s the biggest Hero of the bunch of them let’s be perfectly real here. Raph is THE Hero #All the boys are smart in their own rights but Donnie is THE Genius.#and they all have mystic powers but Mikey is THE Mystic Warrior with immense untapped potential #likewise Leo I feel is THE Ninja #but yeah I love how much Leo goes for the spotlight anyway for better or for worse #he IS a performer again make no mistake! but again the way he does it still lines up with his natural ninja aptitude and I love it #Leo loving magic tricks and magicians so much works doubly well here because like #you’d think he’s focused solely on the performance flair - no it’s ALSO and ESPECIALLY the DECEPTION

I love learning that some of that wardroom scene with crozier and jfj was improvised now. I always thought the way jared said "I was, in fact, ordered" was very interesting and low-key a little broken from the scene and it's like yes queen your eyes did not fail you now as they have never failed you that shit was on the fly

#and it REALLY works for the scene too because to make it partially unscripted gives crozier that very specific awkwardness of trying to talk #to someone who's drunk and not fully present in the conversation. and that makes that moment so so special #it really atests to the level of chops also that tobes has to riff off of that so naturally as well. like that's some movie magic right the #makes me think then also to jared's skill because also the way he played the blanky scene back in episode 2 is way off the script we have #and he changed the dialogue quite a bit in the moment so it really makes you wonder #anyways. Leo’s love for magicians and magic shows isn’t brought up enough tbh, because it directly ties into the idea of a persona and fooling the audience’s eyes to see something that’s not actually there. This connects to his love of performance in general but also ties into why he struggled so much with his mystic powers.

Magic tricks are exactly that, tricks, a performance, masked actions hiding the truth. Meanwhile mysticism is intrinsically linked to the self and so Leo’s difficulty in even unmasking to himself is a big part of his journey that he continues to struggle with and in this essay I will-
