Bruno: My nosey-ass sisters are mad I never told them I was gay until they found out last week.
Bruno: According to them they wasted all this time trying to find a woman for me when they could have found me a boyfriend by now.

Bruno: Uno!
-a few turns later-
Julieta: Sorry hermano, skip!
Bruno: I spent ten years in the walls to protect your daughter.
Julieta: -slowly plays a different card-
Pepa: This is really what you're wasting that on?
Bruno: Uno is very serious business, Pepa.

(The hotel crew and other hellmates, including the Overlords, sing the last verse of "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Encanto together while also doing the full choreography from the film. Vaggie is on the side dressed like Mirabel holding her clipboard.)
Vaggie: No, no, no! I had it all worked out.
(She takes off her glasses and throws them on the floor. Charlie walks in dressed like Julieta.)
Charlie: What? It's a good song! Don't you like it?
Vaggie: It's ridiculous!
Charlie: Yeah, and exciting!
Vaggie: Yeah, well, so is a blowtorch.
Charlie: Why don't you like this song, Vaggie?
Vaggie: I don't want to get into this.
Charlie: You promised, Vaggie.
Vaggie: That's enough, now; can we just stick with the script?
Charlie: Vaggie, this isn't fair!
Vaggie: I've had enough! I'm putting a stop to this nonsense!
(Vaggie walks over to the rest of the crew until Vox throws a purple slushie in her face. Velvette, Vox, and Valentino are shown at the bar dressed like Senora Pezmuerto, Osvaldo, and the Bald Priest respecitvely.)
Valentino: Not so fast, Vagina!
Velvette: Yes! We love this song!
(The hotel crew and the hellmates hold hands while circling around Charlie and Vaggie like children until the song ends)
Charlie: Vaggie, don't look.
Vaggie: Just roll the credits, Charlie... roll the credits.

I am the eldest of three. I never meant to hurt you. well there definitely were times i meant to hurt you but not in this way.
i was the eldest, i had to set a good example. I had to be good at school, at family events, at hobbies. i had to be talented and charming and be a shining example of how to behave. i had to look after you. i didnt want to. i wanted to run about and be annoying and be bad at things. but i had to be good. and then i liked being good at things. i became better, i became the best. then we grew up. they asked you why you werent as good as me. why arent you going to university like your sister, your sister got a job why havent you? your sister is far away where we cant reach her so we have to focus all of our attention on you two. and when i come home they love me so much more. i'm so sorry. i don't mean to be an event.
you don't blame me. thank you. i'm sorry for how they treat you, i'm sorry you can't come with me. i love sitting in the car when you drive and we talk about all the shit we endured, reminding each other of the traumas we forgot. you are me. you are what i could've been, and i the same for you. we get it. you will understand me more than anyone else. you are everything to me. come home. i miss you.
and there's the youngest, no one knows what to make of him. we love him, we try to help him, we don't know how. he hasn't been here as long as we have, but someday we will get it. you're ready to give up on him, i remember being there with you.
i watched Encanto and i saw us. Our mother the healer, our dad the idiot, myself the perfect bitch, you the strongest woman on earth, and Mirabel the one who doesn't fit quite right. i hope we repair our cracks someday

Princessa ( a Luisa drabble)
“OOH that slit goes high!” Isabella declared in a mock scandalized tone. As Dolores squeaked and blushed, flashing her leg out from one of Elena’s lounge dresses a few inches too short on the bottom. Enjoying the tinkling sound of crystal beads colliding only audible to her. As the excited sounds of Mirabel’s voice echoed from the closet into the cave-like antechamber of Bruno and Elena’s bedroom.
Elena giggled from her place on the loveseat next to Luisa, as Mirabel brought a handful of dresses to lay on the bed. The trio cooed over the glamorous styles. Deciding which dress would fit whom, and who was going to go next. Of course, these styles are not ones any of the girls would ever wear in the Encanto. But a throwaway statement of the girls being welcome to borrow any dress had a very pregnant Elena nearly dragged to Bruno’s tower to play dress-up. Meanwhile, the seer decided to make himself scarce to ask Antonio how to mediate a serious conflict among the rats.
Luisa and Elena watched the happy proceedings as Mirabel disappeared behind the screen to try on a velvet green dress with faux pearls hanging on the shoulder. The dress she wore the first night Bruno saw her, and her life changed. Instinctively she brought her hand to her swollen belly, happy as can be. She would be unlikely to fit those dresses again, but it was more than a fair trade.
“Whoo!”, Elena exclaimed as she felt a kick. Luisa flinching at her side, immediately reacting with protective concern. Hands at the ready to help where no help could be given.
“It’s alright, I think their ears were burning. I was thinking about them.”
Then another kick gave her a start, and Luisa reflexively checked on Elena again. “Should I get Mom?”
“I’m fine Lu. I think the armistice is over. The twins are taking turns trading fire as wombmates”. The pun perhaps not hitting, as Luisa’s brown eyes didn’t drop a smidgen of concern after the joke.
“I’m really ok, I promise.”
“Sorry, I know it is normal it's just… you’re just so small”. Luisa trailed off almost apologetically, she had been reacting strongly to every kick all morning. Elena put a reassuring hand on her arm, as she leaned back to take pressure off her spine.
“No smaller than Alma was I have been told, and she had three. Besides we know for a fact everything will be ok”. Elena said gently waving to the glowing green tablet of her future family framed above the bed. A rectangle piece of emerald glass save for a small corner cut out to make their wedding rings. A promise for a future that was almost here.
Satisfied Luisa smiled, and they both looked back at the three girls. Mirabel was trying her signature dancing twirl, but the too-tight dress was not willing to accommodate. A clever seamstress, Mirabel on her own embroidered skirt dropped the waist to capture maximum twirl. Obviously glitz and glitter had downsides.
“I’m sorry I’m too short for you to wear my dresses,” Elena offered as she thought about the contents of her closet, and if anything could be used to help her share in this moment. But her mind was drawing a blank.
“It’s alright, I like my practical clothes.” Luisa countered, but Elena didn’t quite believe it.
Luisa’s room at the beginning portion functioned like a gym. A room full of weights and dumbbells that would make Hugo jealous. The balcony like entry, opening up to a beautiful vista of rocky mountains as strong and imposing as her exterior. But like Luisa, her true nature was hidden deeper. A childlike sweetness of a woman denied a proper childhood. Her bedroom full of soft fuzzy rugs, flower linens, family photos and drawings collected on the walls, sheer curtains hanging over her bed, and a pile of stuffed animals she was gifted over the years. Of all his daughters, and despite all appearances, Luisa was Agustin’s little princess.
‘Oh that’s it!’ Elena thought with excitement as she swung her legs up, using the momentum to vault her and her rotund belly forward out of the chair. The sudden motion caught Luisa at such a surprise, she didn’t have a chance to help the petite songbird stand before she was waddling like a petite penguin to her cavernous closet.
“Now it’s not ‘practical’ mind you,” Elena called loudly from the magical closet that was bigger on the inside. Before emerging with a green velvet box. “But I have something perfect for you.”
“When I was young I used to do birthday parties during the day, and lounge at night.” Elena said with a sheepish smile, As she opened the lid. "The dresses are gone, but I couldn’t get rid of this.” With a flourish, she revealed a shimmering costume princess crown. Delighted to see Luisa’s eyes widen at the treasure. “I am a little bit of a pack rat.” Elena said as she gently fixed the crown onto Luisa’s head, pulling her braid to cover the sides. “But perhaps that is why your uncle loves me?”, she joked.
“So beautiful,” Elena said stepping back to admire her lovely sobrina. “It’s yours if you want it.”
The quickness a teary-eyed Luisa stood to tower over Elena to envelope her in one of her signature bear hugs, did give Elena pause as to whether she would pop under that affection. But ever conscious of her strength, Luisa adjusted quickly and gently enfolded her tia in thanks. Before excitedly going to admire herself in the long mirror, the trio of girls chorusing “oohs and awws” as Luisa joined them.
With very little grace, Elena gingerly sat down to watch the proceedings. A tiny oof as she settled into place with a pillow shoved behind her spine.
“I wonder, do I have a little princess of my own?” Elena asked quietly, but a smiling glance from Dolores told her it was still heard.
A tiny kick came in response and Elena leaned back happily.

Therapist: Alright everybody, welcome to your first group session! Bruno, how are you feeling today?
Bruno: Filled with existential dread.
Therapist: I'm happy to hear that! We're really starting to see some improvement in your positive thinking!
Julieta, whispering to Pepa: That's improvement?
Pepa, scowling: I wish that I was already up to "existential dread".
Julieta, sinking back into her chair: Guys what the fuck

Mirabel: I overheard Tia Pepa and Tio Bruno tell mama "don't tell mama" after they ate all her Polvorosas. They really haven't matured.
Luisa: ...Do you think we'll still be like that when we're in our 50's?
Isabela: Oh, absolutely.

Okay, that was the third copy of that book Meg had seen someone have this day... she looks for some sort of sign that there's a sale or some such but doesn't find one. Is there an author's event?
This is what Meg gets for always checking other bookstores when she's in NTO. She doesn't really keep track of what's happening in her own town.
And then there's another person with that book and Meg couldn't help but sate her curiosity.
"Hey, hi. Excuse me. Um, that book," Meg says, pointing, "I've seen a few people with it. Sorry to ask, but is there an event or something coming up?"

Óscar Madrigal
Tumblr media
Inspired by @hannahhook7744's Encanto AU, and her own character headcanons.
Third image made using https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1558575
Fourth image made using https://www.dolldivine.com/la-colombiana
Fifth image made in Disney Dreamlight Valley
Óscar’s full name is Óscar Horacio Madrigal.
His first name means “dear friend” and his middle name means “time”.
He is the oldest child of Mirabel Madrigal and Bubo Marquez.
He greatly resembles his father, and has his brown skin, nose, and hair. Somehow, he did not inherit either of his parents' need for glasses.
He is seventeen years old.
He has two triplet sisters, Beatriz, younger by fifteen minutes, and Lidia, younger by thirty minutes.
He likes both boys and girls, but is single.
His gift is mediumship. He can see and communicate with the dead souls who can’t/ won’t move on to the afterlife. The Encanto finds this weird and off-putting (because Catholic), and so shuns him. Everyone expects him to hate his gift because of this, but he actually loves it. He likes getting to hear stories from the dead, and help them move on.
His door portrays him standing with his arms out, while many glowing skulls surround him.
His room has wood floors and black walls, but the walls are painted with gold and yellow marigolds. Many sconces and candelabras are hung on the walls, and there’s a seance circle permanently on the floor in the middle of the room. His bed and other amenities are pushed up against the walls.
His symbol is a glowing skull.
Mirabel understands what it’s like to be shunned by the Encanto for a gift/lack thereof, so the two get along great. She’s always there to cheer him up.
Bubo on the other hand is very much A Dad, and tries to bond with his son in various Dad ways, such as fútbol (which Óscar is not into). But he tries.
He and Beatriz are amicable, but are very different people, so don’t hang out.
Lidia can, has, and will beat people up who are mean to Óscar, much to his horror.
He hangs out with the other “outcast” cousins: Sofía, Fuega, Zoe, Hugo, and Andrés.
He gets along best with Pedro, Bruno, Dolores, and Sofía.
Because Pedro’s soul inhabits Casita, Óscar regularly talks and hangs out with him.
He likes to entertain the souls of the dead city children who didn’t make the pilgrimage to the Encanto.
He often looks like he’s muttering to himself while using his gift, which started the rumor that he’s actually crazy.
He looks a lot like Bruno, and is called “Bruno’s twin” sometimes.
He can become possessed by spirits if he does a seance. He mainly does this with Pedro, for emotional reunions with family (and to stop arguments).
His favorite colors are burnt orange, maroon, gold, and mahogany.
