Events In The History And The Life Of Elvis Presley Today On The 22nd Of June In 1974.
Elvis Presley In Providence Ri Evening Show On June The 22nd In 1974.
Two Elvis Presley Fans From Providence Ri there true Experience being At the Elvis Presley's Two Shows On June The 22nd In 1974.
News of an Elvis Presley's concerts in Providence, R. I. first broke in late April when there was a small mention of it in one Boston paper. It was such a small article that many people nearly missed it and we had to be told about it by a friend who reads the paper more thoroughly than we do. We immediately rushed out that same night to put our ticket order in the mail hoping an early Postmark would get us better seats... but things don't always work out that way., do they? The Civic Center was so swamped with mail orders they not only were forced to dis-regard postmarks, but they didn't mail out tickets as soon as they'd promised. When our tickets finally came, they were upper balcony, quite a ways back from the stage. But we were able to borrow binoculars, so all was not lost.
It had been two years since we saw Elvis Presley at Madison Square Garden,. and we were really looking forward to seeing him again. We wanted to try meeting his plane, so we went to the airport early the morning of June 22. While waiting around, we were approached by a man who offered to take us up for a ride in his plane. Feeling adventurous, we went up for an aerial tour of Rhode Island. Our guide, Ted Hopkins, was kind enough to radio in and ask if Elvis Presley had landed yet. Held come in a 2:00 a. m., so we went on to the Civic Center.
We saw both the 2:30pm matinee and the 8:30pm evening show. This review is of the 8:30 show, although both shows were basically the same.
Elvis Presley came running out on stage in a white jumpsuit with a blue "rainbow" swirled around his body and down his leg. He didn't wear a cape for either show. He went into " C. C. Rider, " obviously in a great mood, doing a spirited " one.. two.. three.. four " followed by a corresponding number of thrusts of a leg. Then he did " I Got A Woman " combined with ''Amen, " giving special recognition to J. D. Sumner Is deep voice. This was followed by " Love Me " and " Trying To Get To You " ( in which he says, " I've been travelling night and day, I've been streaking all the way... " which the crowd just loved ). Next came "All Shook Up, " " Love Me Tender, " " Hound Dog, " and " Fever. " He did a great version of " Polk Salad Annie, " which was really loved by the crowd. When he finished " Why Me Lord, " the reaction was so good, he repeated the chorus once again.
Linda Thompson was at both shows, coming out just before Elvis Presley and sitting up front, to the side of the stage. When Elvis Presley did "Suspicious Minds, " instead of doing the line "I never lied to you. . . no, not much, " he left out the "not much" and looked in Linda's direction.
Next, he paused long enough to introduce the band. At the matinee he introduced John Wilkinson as being from Providence and at the evening show he introduced Charlie Hodge as being from Pawtucket... both times he had a mischievous grin on his face and you could tell he was putting everyone on, but the crowd really loved it.
" Know what I can't do? "... " I Can't Stop Loving You, " and with those words, he launched into a beautiful version of the song. Then he mentioned having a record out entitled " Help Me " and " If You Talk In Your Sleep " and said they'd like to do " Help. Me. " This song has so much more impact when you hear it live than it does on record- -fantastic.
During "American Trilogy, " he clowns slightly when he sings ". . look away Disney... dixieland.
Something fairly new for Elvis Presley is " Let Me Be There. " As he's done before, he can take someone's hit song and make it his own, putting such vitality and life into it. This song was a great new treat and we hope he'll continue to do it.
After having the house lights turned up so he could look at the audience, he sings " Funny How Time Slips Away " (Steve says to me thank God for, Elvis Presley). At the matinee he sang... " Never know when I'll be back in town... 8:30 tonight. "
Something different for a live concert was " Big Boss Man, " which he did marvelously. One older man down in front of us kept calling out " Teddy Bear " all during the show, and we were so happy for him when Elvis Presley did a " Teddy Bear " / " Don't Be Cruel " medley.
Naturally, the saddest part of any concert is the beginning of " Can't Help Falling In Love, " and this was no exception. Elvis Presley had put on such a fantastic show, had been in such a great mood, and looked so darned handsome, we all hated to see this song come. But he gave the crowd a beautiful surprise by not rushing off the stage at the close of the song, but spending some time shaking hands around the edge of the stage.
Time had stood still for an hour, but suddenly it was all over and the clock started up again. We met many fans outside afterwards and everyone agreed that it had been a magnificent concert; one we will long remember. Thank you, Elvis Presley for such a beautiful gift.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated: September 1996
FROM THE DESK OF…Stuart M. Saks
I THOUGHT I WAS in hell.
Men were brawling recklessly, chairs were crunching skulls, and garbage cans were pounding backs. One-by-one, more men kept joining the fray. The fans’ screams of delight were drowned out by blaring rap music. I was there, yet I wasn’t. Everyone was involved in some way or another. Battlers. Spectators. Sound men. Security guards. Not me. I was merely an observer. Close enough to sense the raw emotions of the event, but far enough away to feel protected from the sheer horror of it.
“___ you,” one of the battlers screamed at a spectator who made the mistake of using the wrong finger to express his view that the battler was number one.
An image of Lou Thesz came into my head. I eliminated it quickly. He should not be exposed to this!
Then again, this isn’t for everybody. That’s what the promoters of Extreme Championship Wrestling keep warning us.
“ECW! … ECW! … ECW!” The spectators chanted in unison after seeing a sampling of extreme wrestling. These are not fans of wrestlers per se; they’re fans of the concept that nothing is to be held back in an effort to bring them what they want. Ever.
Brutality? Almost always. Breathtaking aerial wrestling? More than you’ll see anywhere north of the Mexican border. Beautiful women? Hey, 95 percent of the audience is comprised of males between the ages of 18 and 35, and after being Dudleyed into submission, it’s good for the eyes to look at Beulah McGillicutty for a few minutes.
My walk through hell occurred in the strangest of places. This was not even the official ECW hell hole–the ECW Arena on the mean streets of South Philly. This was an auxiliary hell, in the quiet upper middle-class Philly suburb of Plymouth Meeting, in an all-purpose auditorium called Lu Lu Temple.
I was not there to cover wrestling matches on this evening. Bill Apter and Craig Peters were taking care of that. But Lu Lu (no relation to Ed Norton’s deceased dog) is only a few miles up the road from our Ambler offices, so, with my Friday evening free, I went merely to record my thoughts of the big picture.
Randomly …
***
[2 Cold Scorpio and Sabu literally risked their necks in their ECW TV title match. ECW fans have grown almost jaded by such action, and their reactions aren’t proportional to the efforts the wrestlers put forth.]
ECW belongs in the family-oriented Lu Lu Temple like that Charlestown Chiefs of Slap Shot fame belong in Madison Square Garden … I love the fact that some of the wrestlers made themselves available to the fans before the matches began. Craig Peters might not agree. He was sitting on the stage behind the seats with Beulah, taking credit for her being on the cover of June ‘96 edition of PWI, when a fan interrupted their conversation and said, “Hey Beulah, you’re in PWI.” Only this was the July edition, and the article the fan was making reference to was Craig’s “In Focus” column in which he rated some of the more prominent women of wrestling in various categories. This is great, I thought. More brownie points for Craig. Craig, however, knew he was in trouble. Beulah finished ninth on his list of 10! “Sex appeal–zero?!” she shrieked. Craig responded sheepishly: “But look at the reason why. You’re pregnant.”
“Zero?!” she shrieked. “But–” “Zero?!” … As match time approached, I heard a fan yell, “ECW rules!” Talk about your classic oxymoron. I bet you could fit a copy of the ECW rule book on one page of PWI—and still have room for pictures. There are no rules in hell. Referees? They have them, but they don’t even make a pretense of counting to four when traditionally illegal acts take place. The fans booed both referees when they were introduced, but I don't see why. They do exactly what the fans want them to do–nothing … I saw a young fan throw a flattened soda can toward the ring. The promoter also saw it. Acting swiftly and properly, he had the fan tossed … And, yes, there was wrestling at the Lu Lu Temple, too. In fact, I’d venture to say that the match between TV champion 2 Cold Scorpio and Sabu was one of the 20 best matches I have ever seen. Too bad the ECW fans didn’t appreciate it. About a minute into the match, many of the fans started with that ignorant “Boring!” chant. I suppose they just couldn’t wait for the wrestlers to get past that feeling-out phase before really getting down to business.
[Beulah McGillicutty gave Craig Peters an earful when she discovered that out associate publisher had given her a zero in the sex appeal category in a recent “In Focus” column.]
But get down to business they did; more accurately, I should say get up to business. These two men performed aerial feats that rendered the term “high-risk” a gross understatement. In one memorable sequence, Scorpio had Sabu in trouble and mounted the turnbuckles. Sabu lifted himself off the canvas, ran across the ring, sprung off a chair that had been left near the ropes, and maneuvered his body so that he was able to grab Scorpio around the neck with his legs. Sabu then reversed his momentum and “Franken-steinered” Scorpio from the turnbuckles down to a table at ringside. When I was a young wrestling fan, a dropkick was a spectacular move. This was beyond belief! The fans were appreciative; thy should have fallen out of their seats … I guess you can’t give people too much because their natural inclination is to always want more. Ultimately, you’ll have nothing more to give them, and one day you may even find them chanting “Boring!” rather than “ECW!”

new york had always been a cool place, but one that haneul didn’t go to as often as others in the states. somi had promotions here in the past, but not as often it seemed as los angeles. truthfully, he didn’t really have a chance to spend more than a day or two in the city. it felt only right to experience it fully with seonhwa. though it may not have been an official stop on the tour, he’d had this trip planned out for the two of them for months now. it was one of his girlfriend’s christmas gifts finally coming to fruition. two weeks in new york, a stay at the bowery hotel, and of course: this. the aerial studio they were headed towards was apparently one of the best in the cities. knowing how much gymnastics made seo smile, it only seemed right to give her some private time to practice to her heart’s content. she’d been so busy with tour and album preparations, and now she had a moment to breathe. he didn’t really have an idea of what to expect of the studio but he was very much looking forward to the show. already, han knew he wouldn’t be able to keep his eyes ( or hands ) off of her. aerobatics were a difficult art to master but just like everything seonhwa did, she mastered it flawlessly. it would be a pleasure to watch, that he was certain.
“ look, jagi. madison square garden. ” haneul pointed out as the two walked down 31st street, nodding in the venue’s direction. in the music world, it was such a notable landmark and he didn’t want his girlfriend to miss it. honking taxis and rushing pedestrians whizzed past the two as they walked to their destination. media didn’t lie, this place really was bustling with so much activity. for both security and comfort purposes, the bodyguard was already ready to be inside anywhere. “ two options. ” he proposed as he wrapped an arm around seonhwa’s shoulders, protectively pulling her closer to him as he eyed the people walking by. “ we can head straight to the studio. it’s just one more block. or — ” he turned to give her a knowing look. “ there’s a coffee shop on this corner if you want to grab a pick me up first. ” nine times out of ten, seonhwa would always pick coffee. it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if this was one of those times.

Trump preps for massive campaign rally Sunday at New York City's Madison Square Garden
Former President Donald Trump will hold a massive campaign rally in New York City's Madison Square Garden on Sunday, – just nine days before voters cast their ballots.
The event, which was first-come, first-serve, sold out within hours of being announced.
The 19,500-seat venue is home of the New York Knicks and New York Rangers.
The Trump campaign says the program includes political icons, celebrities, musical artists, and friends and family of former President Trump who will all discuss how he is "the best choice to fix everything that Kamala Harris broke."
"This epic event, in the heart of President Trump's home city, will be a showcase of the historic political movement that President Trump has built in the final days of the campaign," the campaign said in a press release.
Elon Musk and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO Dana White will attend the rally Sunday.
Musk has already hit the campaign trail for Trump, delivering a memorable speech in Butler, Pennsylvania, earlier this month, when the former president returned to the same site where an assassination attempt was made on his life on July 13.
White, who has been a close friend of Trump for years and played a role in him reestablishing the mixed martial arts company in the early 2000s, introduced the former president at this year’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, telling the crowd the stakes have never been higher.
Other notable attendees this Sunday include former Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, political commentator Tucker Carlson and former Democrat presidential nominee turned Republican Tulsi Gabbard.
High-profile names from the political world include Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance, Speaker Mike Johnson, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla.
Republican National Committee Co-Chair Lara Trump as well as the former president’s sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. will also feature.

The Garden hosted the Republican National Convention (RNC) in 2004 and the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in 1924, 1976, 1980 and 1992.
Then-President Ronald Reagan, in his 1984 re-election landslide, was the last Republican to carry New York in a White House race.
"We're making a play for New Jersey. We're making a play for Virginia," Trump said at a rally earlier this month, before adding that he's also aiming to compete in Minnesota and New Mexico.
Earlier this year, during a campaign stop at an Upper Manhattan bodega, Trump said he would "straighten out New York."

This will be Trump’s second big rally in the state of New York.

Trump also held a rally in the Bronx over the summer at Crotona Park, which had a permit allowance of 3,500 people. The New York Post reported the Bronx rally drew up to 10,000 supporters.

The campaign also said they saw more than 100,000 people at the former president’s rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, in May.
Trump previously said New York has "gotten so bad in the last three years, four years."

While it is unlikely deep blue New York flips red in the White House race, another rally in the state may help Republicans down the ballot as they try to hold on to their House of Representatives majority in November's elections.

New-York Tribune Jun 1 1919 Leon Alcer paints how he envisions Aerial travel in 1925 NYC. 500 passengers picked up on the roof of sky scrappers and then travelling 100 mph to Europe
Aerial Cruises
By Leon Alce
After having ascended the 200-foot high embarkation tower over Brookly Bridge (where the great airship is moored to the revolving platform of the tower, by its nose end, swinging to the wind) we enter and walk through a passage to the elevator that takes us up to our quarters on the top of the great bag, where we get a beautiful view of the city with its great White Way bathed in the light of the many electric signs.
When all of the 500 passengers are on board we leave our moorings and faintly hear the hum of the six 1,000 horsepower motors 200 feet below us as we start on our first journey above the clouds. The 10,000,000 cubic feet of helium gas carrying us safely above the storms of the lower areas.
As we walk out of the stateroom onto the nearly 1,000-foot long promenade deck leading toward the great rudder and elevating planes we are impressed by the seemingly strong headwind blowing, not realizing that we are travelling at a speed of 85 miles an hour. With the wind in our direction, this is increased to nearly 100 miles an hour. Wednesday evening we see faint lights on teh horizon and sometime later make a short stop in Ireland, where a few passengers are landed. Early next morning we arrive in London. After wishing our fellow passengers a pleasant journey to Australia, we descend the landing tower into the hotel, from the roof of which we watch the now seemingly much smaller airship leave for its journey halfway around the globe.
The artist who painted this picture is an engineer and inventor. The aero club of America recognizing the value of the combined talents of this remarkable young man has encouraged his efforts to visualize the fast-growing air future in the country.
He exhibited at the Aero Show, Madison Square Garden, last March, and his fine colored canvases will be seen at the second Pan-American Convention at Atlantic City

Prequel of this set a couple of years after PP3
Words Count: 2K
Rating: T
Bechloe AU - Cornelia Street
Being back felt weird. Right after signing with Roc Nation, Beca had to move to LA and her life was completely turned upside down from there; days and nights spent in the recording studio, private cars with darkened windows and unknown drivers who always knew where to go without having to interact, as if the car was driving itself, big parties and paparazzi following her everywhere. Right now, she was finishing her first tour in the United States, that lasted almost a year. It exceeded all the expectations, selling out in a few hours almost all the dates and spurring the label to insert additional concerts in the bigger cities – most of which sold out as well.
The grand finale of her tour was at the Madison Square Garden, which meant she was finally back in New York, the last place she was able to call home; not only because she spent more time around America – opening the concerts of big artists and making a name for herself before starting her own tour – than in her actual LA apartment, but because she had a constant feeling of transience, of never really belonging.
That’s why she decided to rent an apartment and settle down for a while – Rent because even if the label agreed on her ‘vacation’ on the condition that she kept writing music, they expounded her that the life she embarked on wasn’t a sedentary one – that and Chloe. Beca had missed Chloe like crazy and was set on finally facing her feeling towards the redhead. As soon as she got back, Chloe was all she could think about. It was like the city screamed her name; every corner, every street, every café and store were full of memories of when the two girls used to live together – with Amy – and share a bed, alongside with their whole lives. She couldn’t wait to see Chloe again and go back into their domestic routine, she wasn’t a fool, she knew things would have been different this time, but she knew Chloe missed Beca as much as she missed her.
Beca had texted the group chat as soon as they set the date, offering them VIP passes and – to whoever needed them – plane tickets to go see her in New York City. All the girls gladly accepted, happy to use it as an excuse for another Bellas reunion other than to support their friend.
After the concert Amy dragged them all to get drinks at The Brooklyner, as a tribute to the trio’s former shared apartment in Brooklyn – only that the bar was in the West Village and the drinks were way fancier than the ones they were used to take back then – so Beca didn’t have the chance to do anything more than saying hi to Chloe, just like she did with the rest of the girls when they all went backstage to quickly hug and prize her for the amazing concert.
Chloe could tell that something had shifted inside of Beca; the redhead saw Beca staring at her with purpose many times between the drinks and, to her surprise, the brunette never once shied away from the eye contact, sometimes she’d even offered a smug smirk to her after being caught, rising her glass towards the redhead or sipping from it while arching an eyebrow.
Chloe licked her lips before finally approaching Beca, who was leaning against the counter of the bar, drink in her hand. This was the first time they were in the same place after a long while and even if they’d managed to keep their friendship strong as ever even from afar, her body felt weird being close to Beca again, like if there was this static energy ready to burst out as soon as she’d dared to touch her. At the same time, she felt a pull, an irresistible uncontrollable pull towards the brunette, which only intensified with every not-so-subtle look that Beca threw her way during the night. So, she slowly shirked the conversation she was having with Jessica and Flo to enter Beca’s personal’s space, like she was so used to do, and see those deep blue eyes look at her up close.
Beca put her glass down on the counter and slightly turned her body towards the redhead, welcoming her presence.
“So, The Beca Mitchel” Chloe greeted her “looks like you’re a big deal now, huh” she joked, but there was a softness in her eyes she had no intention to hide – Beca was a big deal after all, and she was so proud of her – a softness she could see mirrored in the way Beca was looking back at her “so I’ve heard” snorted the singer casually resting her hand on Chloe’s arm that was resting on the wooden surface.
“I like this new you" offered Chloe with a sincere smile “I’m still me, Chlo" she assured her, gently taking a lock of auburn hair between her fingers and slowly running them down the perfect curls “I know” quickly replied Chloe taking the smallest step forward, the two girls were mere inches apart now, “but you’re… y’ know, more confident” she added swallowing hard, the air between them was tick and for a moment she forgot they were surrounded by all of their friends. Beca gave her the hint of a nod, as to say that she knew what she meant, and bit her lip before talking again, “it’s good to see you, I’ve been missing you" there was something in that simple statement, or maybe it was the intensity of her gaze, that made Chloe’s heart miss a beat “I missed you too" she said back with the brightest smile she could manage in her I-can’t-really-breathe-right-now state.
Suddenly a very drunk Fat Amy ungracefully passed by them on her way to ask for another round of shots and shoved Chloe right into Beca without even noticing. The brunette’s right arm instantly wrapped around Chloe’s waist to catch her, while she used the other one to grip at the counter and keep them from falling to the ground. Chloe took her time before looking up at Beca – an unusual angle for them, given their height difference – Beca’s arm felt so comfortable around her and her face fit perfectly on the gap of Beca’s neck, plus the alcohol was starting to buzz in her brain and it felt nice to just rest her head somewhere for a moment, with the familiar scent of her best friend surrounding her and making her feel finally at home.
When she did look up, she realized Beca was already looking at her trying to bite back an amused smirk, “you okay?” she asked but Chloe could only focus on how fast her heart was beating and on the fact that she was definitely, uncharacteristically, blushing. “I…” she was sure Beca could feel the frantic rhythm of her heart against her chest and when the brunette let the smirk show on her face Chloe feared for a moment that she would have taken advantage of her sudden awkwardness and made fun of her, but Beca didn’t “let’s get out of here" she suggested instead, it was a statement but Chloe could see the question in her eyes and slowly nodded.
While Beca threw down the remaining of her drink, Chloe’s eyes quickly roamed through the room to find Aubrey – the only one she believed being sober enough to understand anything at all – to tell her they were leaving, but then Beca’s fingers intertwined with hers and she was pulling her out of the bar and the rest of the world disappeared from her mind.
As soon as they got out of the door Beca turned around, letting their bodies collide again and smiled softly at Chloe’s surprised look, she lightly brushed her thumb over the other girl’s hand that was still in hers and gained a content smile from the redhead. Beca wasn’t entirely sure what had gotten into her and whether she was taking this new confidence from the alcohol, or if she’d simply grown up over the last year, but she felt like it was suddenly slipping from her fingertips and she started to panic, letting out a choked gulp.
“Becs…” Chloe breathed out lightly brushing her free hand over Beca’s cheek. Beca was trembling and her stomach was tightening in a knot so tight that for a moment she worried it could kill her. She took in a shaky breath; Chloe’s eyes were frantically searching for something on Beca’s face and her lips looked so soft and tempting and everything Beca had ever needed. Something snapped inside of Chloe and suddenly she started leaning in, slowly, carefully. Beca thought she was going to black out “this is going to be okay” she told herself before meeting halfway the lips she’d spent years craving.
The kiss was gentle and rather chaste, Chloe’s hand moved to interlock into brown hair beneath Beca’s ear and lightly curled, sending shivers down her spine. Beca’s lips parted just enough to capture Chloe’s lower lip between them and they stood like that, just pressing their lips together and letting that new feeling linger. When Beca broke the kiss neither of them moved away letting their lips occasionally brush together while they breathed the same air. Chloe didn’t open her eyes, she once again forgot her surroundings, with Beca’s arm around her keeping their bodies pressed tightly together. There were so many things Chloe wanted to say “I love you” “I’ve waited so long for this” “take me home…” the cold air hitting her for the first time since they left the bar brought her back to reality and she opened her eyes to see Beca smiling brightly at her, with her ragged breath pushing steam through the air “I should have done that way sooner" she said licking her lips and Chloe squinted her eyes “I’m pretty sure I am the one who kissed you…” she giggled “no way, I was the one who-“ the rest of whatever Beca was saying vanished when Chloe tugged her in and kissed her again, more purposefully, pushing her tongue through the brunette parted lips.
As soon as their tongues brushed together Beca was gone. She moved on autopilot, watching the scene from afar, almost like an aerial shot. She saw herself dragging Chloe into the private car waiting for her, the redhead pulled the door closed and the driver took off without asking for directions. Beca connected their mouths once more and within seconds Chloe moved to straddle her, glad for the black glass separating them from whoever was driving.
Things were getting heated up pretty quickly, with Beca’s mouth attached to Chloe’s outstretched throat and her talented hands sliding at a painful slow pace up her bare thighs, Chloe grunted and grabbed Beca’s left wrist trying to speed up its journey to the hem of her dress “touch me” she breathlessly begged, bending her head to look at Beca and making the brunette look up at her. “I am touching you" chuckled Beca “you know want I mean" she whined and Beca smiled at her, stretching her neck up and humming when Chloe kissed her again. When Beca’s left hand started to move more quickly and disappeared under her dress, Chloe brought her fingers up to lightly brush over Beca’s throat and focused on kissing her deeply, while Beca’s hand gently squeezed her ass.
Chloe tasted like pineapple and coconut from the three – maybe four, Beca wasn’t sure – Piña Coladas she had during the night and the brunette would have chuckled about it if she hadn’t felt so drunk, but not from the drinks. She was drunk on Chloe, on the fact that she was finally allowed – begged even – to touch her as she’d always wanted to. She was drunk on the feeling of Chloe’s weight pressing down on her and the filthy things she was doing with her tongue into Beca’s mouth. “Where are we going?” breathed Chloe against her lips, “I’ve rent a place nearby" she said casually, pulling Chloe back in to continue kissing her. She needed Chloe’s mouth on hers way more than she needed air.
She knew that they had crossed a line, one they’ve been dancing on for the best part of six years and there was no going back now and she really hoped they were gonna make it intact to the other side, because if there was one thing Beca Mitchell was sure in her life, was that she could never lose Chloe, but she couldn’t think about that now. Now that she was finally holding her tightly, with their hands exploring every inch of each other’s bodies they could find and their mouths fitting so perfectly together, all Beca could think was that she was finally going home.

A Whole New World by backonefish (24k) : He squeezes his eyes shut and shakes his head, imagining the notes he heard earlier are from a residual dream. He opens his eyes, and, nope. The music is still there. Notes of a song he could never forget clear as the confusion in his head. That is to say, they’re really not very clear. The more he strains to comprehend what the fuck is actually going on, the more he understands. Understands that what he’s hearing is piano keys, not a record of a song. Understands that whoever is playing the piano is really not very good at it, hesitance heard before each press of the key. Understands that his fucking neighbour is waking him up at – he fumbles with his phone on his bedside - 7:30 in the morning by playing Aladdin songs on a piano. Badly. Or- Louis has moved into his new apartment to start his new job as a teacher. Things would be great. If only his arsehole neighbour didn't wake him up every morning by playing piano. Shenanigans ensue. Like a very inadvisable kissing bet.
Found My Missing Piece by styleandsin (16k) : “@harrystyles followed you.” “@harrystyles liked your tweet.” “What?” He whispers in astonishment, because there’s no way. But he clicks on Harry’s profile and sure enough, the little grey “follows you” appears by his name. After taking a second to just stare at the screen, he quickly takes a screenshot and sends it to his sister. Lottie is one of the few people who would understand his shock. Niall would certainly just make fun of him for it. Louis and Harry are both fashion bloggers. Louis' been following Harry for years. Harry and his blog really gave him the confidence and the push to make his own. His sister and best friend have been making fun of his silly little crush on him ever since. But that's all it is, a silly, harmless crush because there is no way Harry knows who he is. Or does he?
Have Faith In Me by stylinsoncity (183k) : As the son of Anne Styles, millionaire owner of one of the world's most luxurious fashion labels, Harry has spent his last seventeen years living in carefree extravagance. And now he's grown tired of it, along with the pressure from his mum to follow in her footsteps and the constant care given to him by her past assistants. When his mum's newest assistant, Louis, moves into the guesthouse, Harry determines to be treated differently. To be treated like an adult. Except Louis is not at all what Harry was expecting... This is a story about growing up, growing in love and having the faith to make it last.
Hiding Place by alivingfire (365k) : Louis never wanted a soulmate, didn’t really care for the whole Bonding thing at all, really. Enter Harry Styles, who’s wanted to be Bonded for as long as he could remember. With one fateful meeting in an X Factor bathroom, Louis gets a dagger on his arm and the realization that just because Harry is his soulmate doesn’t mean it’s mutual. From the X Factor house to Madison Square Garden, from the Fountain Studios stage to stadiums across the world, Louis has to learn to love without losing himself completely, because someday his best friend will Bond to someone and replace Louis as the center of his universe. Meanwhile, Harry begins to think that maybe fate doesn’t actually know what it’s doing after all, because his other half has clearly been right in front of him the whole time. All he has to do now is convince Louis to give them a chance. Or, the canon compliant Harry and Louis love story from the very beginning, where the only difference is that the love between them is literally written on their skin, and there’s only so much they can hide.
I Carry Your Heart With Me (I Carry It In My Heart) by thedeathchamber (56k) : Harry thinks he has good reasons for avoiding relationships. Meeting Louis puts those reasons to the test.
Kryptonite by orphan_account (78k) : Harry Styles has enough problems as it is. Dealing with superpowers, teenage strife and his unavoidable awkwardness is hardly easy… But when he moves to the rural town of Smallville, he inherits a new problem: one that’s 5′7″, unbelievably feisty, and by the name of Louis Tomlinson
Seeing Blind by zedi (10k) : Louis finally turns his head in Liam’s direction, knows his face is showing the longing he’s been aching with ever since it took root in his chest. “What the fuck do I do, Liam? He wouldn’t want me like that, but I want-” his voice cracks, and he turns his face back downwards. “What do you do when you’re not perfect for the person who’s perfect for you?” OR the one where Harry’s an independent omega who likes to have his fun and Louis is the blind alpha that changes Harry’s priorities.
Take My Breath Away by RealityBetterThanFiction (153k) : There is a prestigious school in the British Royal Navy classified as Premier Delta - or as it is known by its flyers, 1D. These select pilots are an elite set of Naval lieutenants who are trained in the skill of aggressive aerial combat. They are instruments of war, trained in times of peace. They are dogfighters, relentless and fearless in their mission to protect their beloved country. From their lofty vantage, they are always watching, waiting, and ready to lay it all on the line.Lt. Harry Styles, call sign Sparrow, is a prodigy when it comes to flying. The owner of an unrivaled Naval pedigree, being a pilot was always written in the stars for Harry. With his trusty RIO, Lt. Niall Horan, Harry has made an unprecedented ascension in the ranks of the Naval aerial combat elite, and has been recruited to the esteemed Premier Delta flight school, carrying on his family’s legacy. What he finds there are unexpected friendships, perilous challenges, and something beyond what he ever thought possible. Because as his father had always told him, before the great Captain Styles went tragically missing in combat, you don’t fall in love with the sky, you fall in love with what keeps you on the ground.
Wild Love by purpledaisy (130k) : “Good,” Julia says, clearly pleased to have them both uncomfortable and unable to look at each other. “Now, I only have one more question before you can go. What are you planning to do when this experiment ruins your friendship?”“We said we’d stay friends no matter what,” Harry says smoothly, his chin lifting in defense. “That was our one thing going into it,” Louis agrees. “Stay friends no matter what.”Julia raises a perfectly manicured brow, “That’s all fine and good. But I hope you realize your emotions aren’t going to realize this is an experiment in the end. If one of you falls for the other and finds out those feelings are not reciprocated, you’re not going to be able to laugh it off as a social experiment. I’m not saying you shouldn’t do this, I’m just hoping you’ve considered all of the possible outcomes.” AU: Two best friends try to date each other for forty days. It's supposed to be fun until emotions make it complicated.
7 Up by cherrystreet (51k) : Very loosely based on the British TV show "The Up Series" and somewhat inspired by the song “Something I Need” by Onerepublic, we follow the lives of Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson in an interview setting every seven years. They fall apart and come together, their lives and emotions recorded. Harry calls it a time capsule. Louis calls it a pain in the arse. * Warning does have a MCD tag please read with caution
#as always I encourage you to read tags to make sure you arent getting yourself into any triggering/uncomfortable topics for yourself#if you ever have any questions on what a fic pertains or a tag you arent sure about feel free to send me a message!#I feel like putting 10 fics on a rec is pretty decent#im a pretty slow reader so thats pretty much all I can read in a month anyways but I hope its alright!#mine#monthlyficrec#april fic rec#enjoy!

Museum Gallery Review
As part of our Museum Gallery review, I chose to go to the Museum of The City Of New York on 5th Ave and 101st st in Manhattan. After researching some photography exhibits, this museum had what I feel would be a few interesting exhibits to look at and, in the end, review. Although I saw all of the exhibits, my paper will focus on the following: City/Game: Basketball In New York.
Basketball has a very extensive history here in New York, and if you play basketball, or follow basketball, you may have heard stories about the playgrounds, or legendary players who have stories to tell. Basketball has been a part of the New York landscape for a long time. The City/Game: Basketball In New York, is an exhibit that goes over the history of basketball in New York, from the playgrounds and parks, too, if you are ever lucky to make it there, Madison Square Garden. The exhibit also focuses on not only culture, but the social, economic and racial history of the city while showing the progress of the game. Curated by Dr.Lilly Tuttle, the exhibit shows New York and basketball relationship with a ton of photographs, video and audio clips, and artifacts like trophies, shoes and jerseys from high school, college and pro teams. Although the exhibit talks about the pro game in the city, its main focus is its roots, which is the playgrounds and on the amateur level.
The exhibit tended to have more artifacts as opposed to photos, and a lot of the photos were behind a glass, making it difficult to get photos. However, I was able to choose two photos in which I thought if someone was to never got a chance see the exhibit, but wanted an idea of what it was about, would have that idea.
In photo one, its 1975, New York is in a fiscal crisis not seen since the Great Depression, and in that time, a lot buildings were not kept up, and fires were very common.
In this photo, while a building is on fire, and spectators are watching smoke billow from the windows in amazement, 4 kids are playing 2 on 2 basketball, oblivious to the scene that is no more than a few feet away. Fire and smoke coming out the building next to us? Who cares? The game goes on. This photo is shot on 101st Street and 1st Ave in 1975 by photographer Paul Hosefros, who at the time worked for the New York Times. According to LinkedIn, Mr. Hosefros was a staff photographer at the New York Times, and he is now retired, and living in Idaho. He also has an MFA in writing from BSU. He was one of 2 photographers that sued the Parks Department for publicizing photos without permission. (https://petapixel.com/2019/10/10/two-photographers-sue-nyc-parks-for-publicizing-unearthed-photos/). I’ll admit, this photo, out of everything in there, caught my attention the most. I wasn’t around in 1975, but I always heard how run down the city was, and how there were a lot of fires. In this photo, Mr. Hosefros does an excellent job of capturing what the city life was like back then in 1975;while the fire is in the foreground, showing these kids playing basketball is kind of surreal. Those kids didn’t have a care in the world, they just wanted to play. Mr. Hosefros shooting the photo vertically gives the photo a strong effect, with basketball being the focus, all while the fire is raging in the background.
The second photo I chose goes back to 1970. Knicks vs Lakers playing the pro game in the Mecca of Basketball, Madison Square Garden. In the photo is Willis Reed grabbing a rebound for his team. This photo is taken by Walter Iooss Jr, who is an iconic photographer who began his career shooting for Sports Illustrated for more than 50 years. He has photographed athletes like Michael Jordan, Muhammed Ali and a whole lot more .In addition, he has photographed Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue for 40 years. (https://www.walteriooss.com)
Although not a classic photo like any of his other works, this photo to me is another good one because, as a basketball player, we dream of making it to the pros, and playing in the MECCA of arenas, Madison Square Garden. The photo shows of a simpler time, of just playing basketball. None of what we see today, where the focus is more on oneself than the game. The photo is also unique, because its horizontal, and low to the ground, and you see everything. From the facial expressions, to the lights above, this is a great photo. Action shots to me, are just great. Also, the average photographer doesn’t get an opportunity to be that close to the arena floor to take photos of the pro game so it’s great to see the game from another perspective.
While both photos are excellent photos, there are more differences than similarities . In the photo with the kids playing basketball, the photo is shot vertically, is shot in the daytime, and has more grain and seems gritter to me. The photo, although focused on the kids, and seemingly small, makes them seem bigger than what’s in the background, which is the fire. In the photo of the Knicks/Lakers game, it is shot horizontal, as to capture all the players, shot indoors with arena lighting, and the film seems a lot cleaner with less grain. The only similarities are that the focus is on basketball.
Historically, both photos are significant, but for different reasons. In the photo with the kids, while basketball is the focus, a deeper look into the photo shows at the time a city teetering on the brink of collapse, with fires in buildings being commonplace, and the photo paints a picture of how the city looked back in 1975. In the photo of the Knicks/Lakers, this photo is historic for a myriad of reasons: Willis Reed playing in the game, and this game took place in 1970, a year in which the Knicks won one of their 2 championships. While significant in terms of photography trends, in the first photo, while shot on the ground, todays advancements would allow todays photographers to get aerial views of everything on the ground. If it’s being taken for basketball, it would not be effective, as the focus would be on the fire, and not on the kids playing. There are photographers who still shoot on the ground, but its few and far between. In the Knicks/Lakers photo, while there are changes in regards of how to get action photos at the arena, one thing has remained constant: there is nothing better than getting action shots on the floor close up.
In conclusion, I thought City/Game: Basketball In New York was a great exhibit, going into great details about the game of basketball and the impact it had on New York. Its exhibits go in depth, from photos, jerseys, sneakers and trophies. It also shows how the game has evolved from the playground to the professionals. I liked that it also showed artifacts from CCNY championship season back in 1950. The only negative to me, is that is was a small exhibit, and I would have liked to see the photos up close. All in all, if you are a basketball fan, I would recommend seeing it.

Acrobatics
The term acrobatics comes from the Greek words ‘acros’ and ‘bat’ which loosely translates to “high walking”. Acrobatics have been seen in recorded history since 2000 BC, depicted in Egyptian and Greek vases and murals, however, acrobatics in terms of circus and traveling troupes originated in Rome. Troupes that were made up of many types of performers, including acrobats, would travel the Roman Empire and perform in cities along the way. The skill of acrobatics made its way into America in the 1800’s through major circuses such as that of PT Barnum and William Cameron Coup. Another instrumental party in the popularization of American acrobatics was the The Flying Wallendas, who were active from 1922 up through most of the twentieth century. Their acts sensationalized the art of acrobatics with feats like high wire in Madison Square Garden with no net and biking across the wire. From then on, acrobatics have become beloved in America for the danger and intrigue involved in the risky acts. Acrobatics have been most successful with the popularity of Cirque du Soleil, which has done a great deal of work in preserving the art of acrobatics. Acrobatics, in Greece, in turn-of-the-century America, and now, have always held the favor of their viewing public.
