The multiverse was vast and weird, as Danny quickly found out. Various earths had differences, in their histories, in their populations, and in certain aspects of their realities. It turns out in his native reality, the separation between his world and the afterlife was thinner than most.

He’d spent years traveling his world and what his parents had called the ghost zone. More accurately it was the astral realm, a reality overlapping the earth’s where spirits dwelt that intersected with various afterlives. He’d backpacked across Europe, climbed mountains. He’d gone to Valhalla and had fought and feasted with the great warriors there. He’d explored the far frozen and what lay beyond even further in its frozen wastes. He’d seen the gates of hell, though he’d never had the nerve to enter. Demons were a different beast altogether from ghosts and he’d had no intention of staying potentially forever. He wished he had been that cautious when he had managed to find a doorway into this earth.

Compared to his home, the veil between worlds was more like the comforter between worlds here. Turns out physical portals to the astral realm or afterlife were much harder to produce. Most capable of traversing the astral realm is so by projecting their spirit out of their body instead. Danny had met a couple over the course of his travels, but he didn’t have a clue how to do it himself. Aside from finding a way back, another key difference is how much weaker he was comparatively. Ghosts tended to lack physical form here, another effect of the separation between worlds being thicker here. He still could go invisible and intangible easily enough, but he found himself tiring after a while. He tried flying and realized he’d have to be conservative with it after how much it had drained him. Ecto blasts were the most taxing. He was a bit out of practice but at present he could do about five before he was tapped out for a while.

Danny found a green sticky note on a pay phone. Frankly he was shocked there was a working one still around. He deducted it was meant for him using his keens observation skills. Mainly he observed it said

Danny called the number. No one answered the first time but the voicemail confirmed it was Bruce Wayne’s phone. Using the last of his change he dialed again. After a couple rings, someone picked up.

“Hello?”

“Hi, Bruce?”

“Yes, this is Bruce. Might I ask who you are and how you got this number?”

“That’s kind of complicated to explain. My name is Danny, Danny Fenton? I think I might be your brother?”

“You think you’re my brother?” The voice sounded skeptical.

“Your father is Thomas Wayne, right? I think he’s my dad.”

“Listen, if you’re after money-“

“No! No no no! I don’t really care about money, something just told me I should reach out to you? Jeez that sounds stupid when I say it out loud. Listen, I just found this out, and I don’t really have other family around. I guess I don’t even know if it’s true, but contacting you seemed like the thing to do.”

“… I don’t want to say I don’t believe you, but if there’s a chance what you’re saying is true, I think a DNA test is in order.”

“That’s entirely fair. Like I said, I don’t know if this is for certain but knowing I guess is better than not knowing.” Danny said with a small laugh.

“I suppose it is.” The voice chuckled, and something about the quality of it reminded Danny of Jack. “Let’s meets at [this address] at [this date] if that works for you?”

“Yes, I can be there!” Danny was already planning the route to New Jersey. He’d have to hitch, at least to the nearest Greyhound station. He could either panhandle for the fare or use his powers to stash himself in the luggage compartment if need be.

“Great, see you then Danny.”

Bruce hung up the phone. He didn’t know what to make about a sudden half brother coming out of the woodworks. It wasn’t the first time and it certainly would not be the last. What interested Bruce was the fact he had his cellphone number. His personal cellphone number, the one only Alfred, Dick, and a select number of associates from his night life have.

Danny reaches out to Bruce and tells him that he’s a brother of his that was hidden away from all this time.

This is like the eighth “secret relative” Bruce has encountered and the sixteenth fake secret relative message he’s received this month. He’s ready for it to be just another man out for the Wayne fortune, but as always he asks for a DNA test to be done to confirm the man is lying.

I know it's very soon after my last post, but I think I've mostly got a working timeline

There are more specifics I could get into, but I tried to limit the info in this particular timeline to what's super important and identifiable. Like, I have a whole other post I could make about the Justice Society of America and how it led to the creation of the Justice League, or how Amity Park was founded and by whom, but trying to put it all here would be too cumbersome.

My main sources for general info is whatever I can find on the DC Fandom Wiki, as well as my experiences watching various DCAU media growing up and my favorite Batman show, The Batman from 2004 (good god, I didn't realize it was that old). I tried to fit Young Justice in here too, but it actually conflicts with the first two timelines more than I thought it would, so I might just use it for story ideas for after Danny gets adopted. The Wayne Family Adventures webtoon mostly just supplied the template for how I want them to end up by the time Danny enters the picture, leaving the "how did we get here" up to me, which this timeline hopes to solve.

Also, I couldn't find a good source for it, but supposedly Danny Phantom might have taken place in 2014? Which would've been the future for when it came out in 2004. I considered going with that, but ultimately I decided that DP happens in 2004, taking Danny about a year to establish himself before he gets adopted by 2005.

A big part of why I made this timeline in the first place was to make sure I know how old everyone is when things happen, which is why I put their ages everywhere.

1920s - Martha Clark and Jonathan Kent are born sometime in this decade.

1939 - Alfred Pennyworth is born.

1940 - James “Jim” Corrigan (30) “died” and became the Spectre with Aztar, the Vengeance of God. The Justice Society of America is formed, though they are sometimes called the All-Star Squadron when working with those not formally inducted as members of the JSA (including those with and without superpowers).

1952 - The Kents (~30s) are told they cannot have children biologically. Shortly thereafter, they find the Kryptonian baby Kal-El, rename him Clark Kent after Martha’s maiden name, and adopt him as their own son.

1957 - Alfred (18) joins the British military.

1960 - Bruce Wayne is born. Vlad Masters is born.

1961 - Jack Fenton is born. (Google says his birthday is October 2, 1971, but that would make him like 10 when the Ghost Portal Prototype fails, so I’m just gonna set it back an extra decade lol)

1963 - Maddison Elliot is born. (Google says her birthday is March 16, 1973, so same deal as Jack)

1964 - After many misadventures in England, Alfred (25) takes over as the Wayne Family’s butler from his late father. (Bruce 4)

1968 - 8 year old Bruce’s parents are killed. (Alfred 29)

1970 - After 2 years of flailing, Bruce (10) decides to travel the world and learn martial arts, among other things.

1971 - Barbra Gordon is born.

1974 - Dick Greyson is born.

1977 - Jason Todd is born. Superman (25) debuts in Metropolis, inspiring Bruce (17) to change his plans to become a superhero rather than a crime boss. Obviously there were other superheroes around at this time, but none gripped Bruce like Superman did. He will never, ever admit this.

1978 - Superman (26) is quickly inducted into the Justice Society of America.

1980 - Stephanie Brown is born. Cassandra Cain is born. Bruce (20) returns to Gotham and starts his career as Batman. He begins cutting through red tape to regain control of Wayne Enterprises. Meanwhile, Vlad (20), Jack (19), and Maddie (17) are all at the University of Wisconsin and build the prototype Ghost Portal, which fails catastrophically, causing several important chain reactions; Vlad is blasted with Lazarus Water, the Ghost Zone comes into existence, Vlad falls ill, Amity Park’s Lazarus Pit dries up, Pariah enters the Ghost Zone and declares himself Ghost King, etc.

1981 - Tim Drake is born. Disenchanted with the JSA, Superman (29) starts figuring out how to create his own, international superhero team.

1982 - Bruce (22) adopts Dick Greyson (8) after his parents die publicly.

1983 - Vlad (23) discovers he has “ghost powers” and starts figuring out how to use them. Dick (9) discovers Bruce’s (23) secret and Bruce begins training him.

1984 - Bruce (24) finally lets Dick (10) join him on the streets as Robin. Batman and Superman (32) meet for the first time (which plays out similar to how they meet in “The Batman”).

1985 - Bruce takes over Wayne Enterprises just in time for his 25th birthday. With the company secured, Bruce no longer has to prove himself as responsible and plays up his image as a playboy philanthropist to throw off rumors that ditzy but well-meaning Brucie Wayne couldn’t possibly be the dark and brooding Batman.

1986 - Superman (34) approaches Bruce (26) with his plan for the Justice League, hoping Wayne Enterprise would agree to be the “secret” benefactor. Bruce says he’ll think about it. Barbra Gordon (15) takes the name Batgirl for the first time. (Alfred 47, Bruce 26, Dick 12)

1988 - Jasmine Fenton is born. Cass (8) kills someone for the first time, is horrified, and runs away from her assassin father.

1989 - Duke Thomas is born.

1990 - Daniel Fenton is born.

1991 - Jason Todd (14) tries to steal the Batmobile’s tires after his father is sentenced to prison time, putting him on Batman’s radar. (Alfred 52, Bruce 31, Dick 17, Barbra 20)

1992 - Dick (18) decides to strike out on his own as Nightwing. Jason Todd (15) catches the eye of Talia Al Ghul. Shortly after, Jason’s (step-)mom dies of a drug overdose while his father is still in prison so Bruce adopts him, making Jason the second Robin.

1993 - With Nightwing (19) established and able to take over many of Batman’s (33) responsibilities in Gotham, Bruce asks Clark Kent (41) if he’s still interested in his Justice League idea, which he’s now had 7 more years to refine. Global threats had become more common (which threatened Gotham vicariously and he wasn’t confidant he could take them on by himself) and the JSA had become too entangled with the USA government for anyone’s liking. Now was prime pickings for upcoming talent that had grown up with the idea of superheroes as a necessary force in the world that could see the limitations of government funded (and therefore government controlled) superhero teams.

1994 - Stephanie Brown (14) became Spoiler to “spoil” her father’s criminal career as Cluemaster. After his capture and imprisonment, Bruce (34) “convinced” Spoiler to “retire”, though Barbra (23) kept in contact, as did Dick (21) and Jason (17) to a lesser extent. Steph continued to train on her own, planning to rejoin the hero scene when she was a bit older. The Justice League debuts, led by Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman, along with half a dozen other members, though their ranks would quickly expand.

1995 - Jason dies at 18. Talia Al Ghul seduces the grieving Bruce (35) to get Jason’s body, accidentally-on-purpose getting pregnant along the way. Jason had unfortunately been dead for a few months by then; however, he was too angry and stubborn for his spirit to move on, which allowed him to be revived via Lazarus Pit. He still came back pretty zombified, though, so Talia used magic to help restore the connection between his mind/soul and his body, and had him train with the League of Assassins to keep him sharp. Part of Bruce’s grief spiral was to throw himself into Justice League work. (Alfred 56, Dick 21, Barbra 24)

1996 - Bruce (36) is spiraling from his loss when Tim Drake (15) basically forces himself onto Batman as the third Robin.

1997 - Cassandra Cain (17) arrives in Gotham, trying to keep a low profile but couldn’t help but save Commissioner Gordon from her assassin father, putting her on Batman’s (37) radar. After Barbra (26) is paralyzed and forced to retire as Batgirl, she asked Bruce to offer Cass the title in her stead, taking on the role of “man in the chair” with the name Oracle. Barbra also pressures pretty much everyone to train with Steph (17), since she can’t anymore.

1998 - Jason (21) returns to Gotham as the Red Hood. (Alfred 59, Bruce 38, Dick 24, Barbra 27, Tim 17, Cass 18)

1999 - Cass (19) takes on the name Black Bat, giving the title Batgirl to Steph (19) as she (re)makes her superhero debut.

2000 - Settling into more of an anti-hero role after getting rid of (most of) his hatred for Bruce for not avenging him, Jason (23) has turned his sights on Crime Alley, doing whatever he feels is necessary to make it safer for the families (but especially the kids) that are forced to live there. He unknowingly is fulfilling Bruce’s original plan of becoming a crime boss and dissecting Gotham’s crime problem from the inside out. (Alfred 61, Bruce 40, Dick 26, Barbra 29, Tim 19, Cass 20, Steph 20)

2001 - I’m going to modify his story, but Duke Thomas (12) ends up on Bruce’s radar.

2004 - Danny Fenton (14) has an accident that gives him “ghost powers”. (Vlad 44, Jack 43, Maddie 41, Jazz 16)

2005 - Damian Wayne (10) becomes the fourth Robin, pushing Tim (24) to move out and become Red Robin instead. (Alfred 66, Bruce 45, Dick 31, Barbra 34, Cass 25, Jason 28, Steph 25, Duke 16, Danny 15, Jazz 17)

Damian’s first, big, world-ending crisis is barely a month or two after his arrival, when Cris Allen enlists the Batclan to help him fight Pariah Dark and they join Danny Phantom’s resistance.

I haven’t quite decided what will happen next but Batman figures out Danny isn’t fully dead like the rest of the inhabitants of the Ghost Zone and looks into it after Pariah is defeated. From here, I want it to take less than a year for Danny to be in Bruce’s custody. Duke (at 16) is recruited around the same time as Danny (still 15), so both of them begin training together. I’m sure Bruce wouldn’t mind pulling some strings to get Jazz (17) into a college in Gotham, potentially getting her to study under Barbra/Oracle.

DC x DP Prompt: Maddie Kane

Disclaimer: I don't know a whole lot about the Kane family. This is mostly my own interpretation based on the wikis I hastily read.

Roderick and Betsy Kane had six children: Martha, Nathan, Philip, Jacob, Roderick Jr., and Madeline.

Now, Madeline was a surprise baby. Martha was already twenty-three and married to Thomas by the time her only sister was born, but that didn't stop her from showering the girl with love and affection. Thomas loved his little sister-in-law just as much, and the two practically raised her as their own. Under the undivided care and affection of Martha and Thomas, little Madeline grows up to be a willful, independent, free-thinking, intelligent girl who is very, very happy with her life at Wayne Manor.

Madeline and Martha's relationships with their brothers are... complicated, to say the least. Martha as a rule did not fully support the Kane Family's arms dealings, and so tried to distance herself (and subsequently Madeline) from them. The Kane boys didn't challenge this overmuch: they were, after all, hard military men and didn't have much interest in raising their sister who would surely just become another socialite married to one billionaire or another. (It's ironic, then, that Maddie would grow up to be the best weapons innovator the Kanes would ever produce, but such things happen.)

Madeline had just turned thirteen when Martha and Thomas had Bruce. Her little nephew was a long-awaited joy for the family, and she would sooner think of Bruce than the Kane boys when Maddie heard the word "brother".

This idea is only solidified when the Kanes, forced to acknowledge their sister after multiple high-society scandals, try to strong-arm her into attending a finishing school in England. (Maddie to this day does not regret hospitalizing Lionel Luthor. If he didn't want a broken fibula, then he shouldn't have gotten drunk at a Wayne Gala and tried to strike his son. The following press release was unfortunate, but the thank you card from Alexander was touching.) The Kanes are not successful in removing Madeline from Gotham, and after much back-and-forth, they give one final ultimatum: either go to England and return an "upstanding member of society," or Madeline would be officially cut off.

Madeline chooses the second option without much further thought, sure to tell her brothers to stuff it in as many ways as she can before she trashes the Kane Mansion for good measure.

Madeline, now almost exclusively going by "Maddie", thrives. She gets accepted into the University of Wisconsin, and so off she goes, with hugs and well-wishes from Martha, Thomas, and Bruce, who are staying in New Jersey.

Maddie is twenty-one when she gets the worst news of her life: Martha and Thomas are dead. She puts her studies on hold for a bit and flies back for the funeral, her research partner/best friend in the world/boyfriend Jack Fenton-Nightingale coming with her.

Not even a week after her sibling-parents are put in the ground, her brother Philip tries to swoop in and seize Wayne Industries for himself. Thankfully, though, Martha and Thomas's wills were very clear: Maddie is to manage the Waynes' estates until Bruce comes of age. So Maddie once more tells her brothers to fuck off, this time for good. Jack, muscled, glowering, and seven feet tall and still growing, makes good to stand silently in the background so the Kanes don't try to pull anything further.

As soon as she is able, Maddie sits Bruce down and they make arrangements. Maddie can't abandon her schooling forever, and Bruce's life has been upended enough; she doesn't want to make it worse by ripping him away from the only home he's ever known. So Maddie signs over custody to Alfred, and promises are made to visit every chance she gets.

Life moves on. Jack and Maddie get married and start Fenton Works. Bruce starts traveling abroad to "further his education of the world." Maddie and Jack have two kids. Jasmine Martha Fenton-Nightingale-Kane inherited the Kane signature fire-red hair, and Daniel James Fenton-Nightingale-Kane looks so much like Martha that it hurts. Bruce adopts a gaggle of children of his own. Bruce and Maddie like to send each other pictures to brag about their respective kids, and the Fenton-Nightingale-Kanes make sure to visit Gotham for at least one week every summer.

Maddie and Jack don't ask too many questions when Bruce hesitantly takes them aside and requests that they make a couple of custom-made, non-ghostly weapons for him. Of course they'd be happy to make him a few odds and ends every once in a while. Goodness knows how dangerous Gotham can be.

The Fenton-Nightingale-Kanes miss their summer trip for the first time ever when Danny comes to them and explains the whole "half-a-ghost-thing" and, well... Jack and Maddie spend the entire summer reeducating themselves about ghosts, working through years of biases, and ensuring that their son knows that they still love him of course we still love you, Danny, there isn't a thing in this world that could stop us from loving you. Dick Grayson is very understanding and assures them that Bruce wouldn't mind. (Dick is very happy to avoid telling Aunt Maddie and Uncle Jack about Bruce's death. Dick is even more happy when Tim finds proof that their dad was just lost in the timestream and not actually dead. That entire summer was very stressful for both sides of the family)

It isn't until Danny is seventeen and hesitantly makes contact with the Justice League that the Waynes learn about ghosts and the Fenton-Nightingale-Kanes learn about the vigilantism.

Maddie is so cross when she and the rest of the ghostly delegation walks into the Watchtower only to come face-to-face with her nephew/brother, and don't you try and deny that's you, Brucie, I have eyes. Who are you trying to fool, young man?

The rest of the Justice League has to awkwardly sit there as the Ghost King and his family have a full-on family reunion, with King Phantom taking the time to finally introduce his partners to his cousins, Princess Jasmine and Nightwing teaming up to try and talk Red Robin into dialing back on the caffeine intake, King Father Jack exchanging fudge recipes with Agent A, and Queen Mother Madeline chewing out Batman for being a reckless idiot and not telling her what he was using his gadgets for. ("If I knew that grappling hook would be actively used every night, I would have installed more safety features! We could've made it more durable! We would've had to put it through more rigorous testing before we deemed it field-ready!" "Why does that bother you now? Isn't your lab safety horrible?" "A private, indoor lab that less than ten people have access to is not the same as the streets of Gotham in every type of weather! Goddammit, Bruce, I swear--")

After blowing up the ghost portal, Danny is on the run from both Vlad and his parents. He kept going until he ended up in a strange city called Gotham. There, a friendly ghost couple took him in. Now recovering from having his entire life changed, Danny just wants to live a normal life, spend time with his new parents, go to school (which his new parents forced him to do) and occasionally spy on the ghost couple’s living son and his adopted kids. Danny was told not to interact with them directly though. Which is fine! What could he possibly do to get their attention? He can’t be the only blue-eyed black haired kid in the city right? And of course he will deny any connection if asked. Now if only Damian would stop staring at him in school.

I imagine it would be a sort of reincarnation into the past type thing. Like Clockwork takes Dan and just shoves him into a forming fetus sometime in the past. That fetus just so happens to be Thomas and Martha Wayne’s child who they name Bruce when he’s born. The only reason this worked though is because the Wayne’s are distantly related to both Jack Fenton and Vlad Masters. I’m gonna say for this au Vlad and Jack are third cousins. Clockwork picked Martha’s and Thomas’ kid to shove Dan into because Dan is half Fenton half Masters, and the Wayne’s are distantly related to both, so Martha’s kid was genetically compatible with Dan!

At first Bruce doesn’t really remember his past life. He has very vague memories and dreams about his past life as he’s growing up. But it’s not till after his parents are murdered in front of him that he fully remembers. Seeing them die right in front of him just breaks some kind of barrier that’s been in place holding back his past life’s memories. The only thing that keeps him from going full murder spree, kill the whole planet, right then and there is Alfred!

He still sort of has his powers, they’re just kind of locked away sort of. Like he’s fully human now with no ectoplasm running through him. So he can’t really consciously reach his powers. But sometimes when he’s Batman he can just meld into the shadows, almost like he’s gone invisible. And sometimes when he’s gliding through Gotham on his cape it’s almost like he can really fly. And his senses (hearing, smell, sight) are much better than your average person. And he’s so much more durable than the average person as well, getting thrown through walls doesn’t do nearly as much damage to him as it should.

And personality wise he’s a weird mixture between Danny, Vlad, and who Bruce would have actually been had Dan not been shoved into this body as it was forming. He’s got Danny’s love of space and need to protect people. He’s got Vlad’s obsessiveness and need to adopt black haired blue eyes children. And he’s got Bruce’s detective smarts.

The reason he never kills, even after Joker kills Jason, is because he knows if he does that will be the damn breaking and he won’t be able to stop. He’ll go full evil villain. He’ll head straight for the Lazarus Pit and dip himself in it to give himself full access to his powers. And then he’ll destroy the whole world! And with his OP powers the only person who could possibly stop him is Ghost King Danny Phantom. But at this point (right after Jason’s death) Danny is still at least three years away from getting his ghost powers and isn’t even technically the Ghost King yet!

Eventually sometime after Danny becomes the Ghost King and finds out about his alternate timeline evil self, Bruce goes to Amity Park and introduces himself. He tells Danny exactly who he is, and tells Danny that the Fenton’s and the Masters are related to the Wayne’s, and that if anything ever happens to Jack, Maddie, and Jazz, Danny is welcome to come live with him so as to avoid going to live with Vlad.

Danny hadn't heard of his alternative future version since he and Clockwork worked together to de-age him and send him to some distant relatives 40 years ago, after Dan begged them to do it since he wanted a second chance to live again.

So imagine his surprise when he receives a desperate call from Dan, now Bruce Wayne, raving about clowns and something about Lazarus blood pools.

Sometimes being a Ancient wasn't worth it, but it was better then being the Ghost King.

This blog is mainly for finding roleplays. I roleplay exclusively on Discord (I love making private servers) and am 21+, so minors please DNI. Style-wise I can adapt to my partner, though my favourite way to write is lit for those juicy, introspective moments. NSFW friendly, and I like all sorts of pairs from fxf, mxf, mxm, to any nb pairs. Words: 1384 Pairing: None Cast Of Characters: Bruce Wayne, Sister!O.C., Alfred Pennyworth Summary: Bruce Wayne has had enough of his younger sister wasting her life sneaking into clubs and partying all night. Things finally come to a head during lunch one afternoon.

"Maddi? Are you still asleep?" Bruce Wayne whispered from just outside his sister's bedroom door. She didn't answer, so he cracked the door open. "Mad, it's the middle of the afternoon." There was still no response. He swung open the door to find his sister sleeping soundly in her bed. "C'mon, you can't sleep all day." He strode across the room and nudged her gently. She just swatted his hand away and rolled over.

"Madeline Wayne, get up!" In one swift motion, he pulled layers of blankets off his younger sister. She shivered.

"What do you want from me, Bruce?" She groaned.

"I want you to get out of bed." He stared down at her, still in the dress she had worn out that night. Most of her make-up had rubbed off, but there was a track of mascara running down her cheek. Madeline rolled over and rubbed her eyes.

"But it's so early." She blinked up at him. He was wearing one if his best suits. Expensive and grey, it made his eyes look stormy. He typically saved that suit for important business deals because of the intensity it brought out in him.

"It's one in the afternoon, Madeline." He told her through gritted teeth.

"Then shouldn't you be at work?" She dragged herself into a sitting position and ran a hand through her hair.

"I was at work. Until I got a phone call from Alfred asking if I wouldn't mind stopping by the house to make sure you weren't dead."

"So dramatic." Madeline giggled. This wasn't the first time they had this conversation, though coming home from work in the middle of the day was a new variant. She looked over at her nightstand where she knew a glass of water and a few ibuprofen would be waiting. "Just go back to work." She said, reaching for the medicine.

"I'm not just going back to work. Clean yourself up and come down to lunch."

"Sure thing, Dad!" Bruce had been on his way out of the room when his sister shot off her mouth. He paused in the doorway but decided against opening up that old wound again.

It took a great deal of effort for Madeline to get herself out of bed. It wasn't as if she didn't already realize she was the sole disappointment of the Wayne legacy. All of Gotham knew about Thomas and Martha's efforts to restore Gotham to its former glory. When they died, the eyes of the city were turned to their children. Eight-year-old Bruce and four-year-old Madeline. She had tried fit into the mold that had been laid out for her. In school, she studied hard and it paid off with exceptional grades. She was active too with her hands in nearly every social club possible. But as she flourished, Bruce only seemed to become more successful. Like their father, Bruce was a natural with business.

Unaware of the pressure his sister was putting on herself, he was also trying to leave a legacy his parents would be proud of. Bruce and Maddi were once very close despite their four-year age difference. As they got older a schism seemed to form. He barely knew who she was now. Nineteen years old sneaking into clubs and getting so drunk she could barely find her way home at night. Alfred had thought it was simply a phase at first. After all, Bruce was known to have his fair share of rough nights, Especially at that age. But now, even the family butler was worried.

Freshly showered and dressed in leggings and an oversized t-shirt, Madeline made her way downstairs. From the base of the main staircase she could hear Bruce on the phone, most likely on a work-related call. He can't lecture me, if he's on the phone with someone else. She decided, and made her way into the dining room.

"Ah Ms. Wayne, you've decided to join the land of the living at last." Alfred quipped as his youngest charge slid into her usual place at the table.

"Only the good die young, Alf." She replied with a smirk.

"I should appreciate it if you would keep that sentiment to yourself Miss Wayne. In truth, it is the foolish who die young."

"So Mom and Dad were foolish then?" The smirk disappeared from her face. Alfred knew better than to engage with Madeline on the subject of her parents. Aside from the fact that she thoroughly enjoyed arguing any point to exhaustion, the subject of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne always sparked a disagreement between the siblings. Across the table Bruce was still on the phone. He was talking, it seemed, to his secretary.

"Caroline, the man is the CEO of a toy company! If he doesn't understand that family comes first, I'm not sure Wayne Enterprises should be doing business with him any way. Yes, please do tell him that I said that...No, I don't know when I'll be available to reschedule...Caroline, please just work your magic alright? Thank you." Bruce ended his call with a frustrated tap.

"My apologies Miss Wayne. It was not my intention to make light of your tragedy. Lunch will be served momentary." Alfred excused himself from the room, leaving Bruce alone to glare at his sister.

"Why do you have to say things like that to him?" He groaned. "You know as well as I do, it tortures him to hear you talk about them like that." Maddi didn't have an answer. Of course she knew it tortured Alfred. He had been a part of the family long before the death of her parents. He always seemed to know the right thing to say and he was always around when he was needed. There was no logical reason for her to torment the butler the way she had for the past fifteen years.

"I don't know what you expect from me, Bruce. I was four years old. I was home with the butler because I had the flu."

"So now you blame Alfred? Same old Madeline," Bruce folded his arms over his chest. "Nothing is ever your fault!"

"Let me make something perfectly clear, I still blame you for what happened to them!" She pointed a well manicured finger at his heart. "If you hadn't made such a big deal about me getting 'all of the attention' Mom wouldn't have taken you out for a special trip to the movie theater and they would both still be here."

"I was eight years old Maddi!" Bruce exclaimed jumping to his feet. "You can't hold a grudge over the petty jealousy of an eight-year-old!"

"I was four!" She snarled, now standing up as well. "Four years old. I had a fever of a 102! Alfred woke me up in the middle of the night, but I was too sick to understand what was even happening! At least you were old enough to remember them!"

"You forget them on purpose!" Bruce burst out. "Drinking away your problems! Squandering responsibilities! Be glad that you can't remember them, because you're such a disappointment to their memory, the guilt alone would crush you!"

A beat past and neither spoke. There they stood, the volatile Waynes; each glaring at the other from across the table. Fists clenched, lines drawn. Hate mounting with every new churning thought. Too long the pressure had been building, childhood pettiness had grown into adult resentment. It was a recipe for disaster.

"I despise you." Madeline spat. She turned on her heels and stormed out of the room. Bruce chased after her.

"Where are you going?"

"The movies! Ha, wouldn't that be ironic?" She said, ascending the main staircase. "Maybe I'll head over to the Iceberg Lounge? Or maybe Disneyland! Anywhere's better than here!" She disappeared from view when she reached the top of the stairs.

"You are actually the worst person in the entire world!" He hollered, not caring if she could hear him or not. But she reappeared at the top of the staircase with her purse and a jacket in her hands.

"That's rich considering the man who murdered our parents is probably still running around somewhere!" She scoffed, climbing down the stairs. "Have a nice life!" She called over her shoulder as she stepped out the front door.

tim hadn’t expected to hear danny’s name from his adopted dad’s ghost parents (do they consider him their grandson?), let alone the fact that apparently he was actually already part of the family and in danger. danny should be safe and sound in a small town in wisconsin (a town that has far too many corrupt, rich families in it). he would’ve said something on the last call if something was wrong, he knows that tim would drop everything to come up to amity and help him (right? he has to know. tim has to have made it obvious that he would drop everything to help out his little cousins? if danny doesn’t then jazz should. jazz would’ve let him know-).

“timothy, dearest, i do believe that you would know best how to get in touch with danny the fastest” says the ghost of martha wayne (martha wayne’s ghost, because she’s a ghost and they can interact with each other, and this is a thing that’s happening), and tim stands there in shock for a bit because this is the most that anyone besides himself has even thought about his baby cousin in years.

“wouldn’t babs be the one we’d ask to find danny’s phond number? not to say that you aren’t good tim, this is just babs’s area of expertise.” dick’s already getting his phone out to call her, which makes sense considering that none of his family besides bruce and alfred (and apparently martha and thomas wayne) even know that janet had a sister and that he quite literally has danny’s phone number.

“while miss barbara would be who we’d ask to find danny’s phone number in a normal situation, i’m afraid it’s a rather simple matter of picking up his phone and calling his little cousin for timothy,” thomas wayne says like this is just another day in the afterlife for him and he didn’t just expose one of tim’s most well guarded secrets.

tim hasn’t added anything to the conversation yet, and he’s not about to start. he can feel the eyes of his family on him, and he starts to shrink in on himself a bit. he doesn’t like talking about his biological family with the family that he currently has. aunt maddie and uncle jack might have been his favorite adults on either side of the family but that doesn’t mean that they were fit to be caregivers in any capacity. there’s a reason he fought so hard to stay in gotham besides wanting to continue being robin. amity park may be the backdrop to many of his favorite childhood memories, but that doesn’t mean that he’d ever want to live with his aunt uncle full time. after a few moments of silence it’s eventually jason who breaks it.

“hey. tim. what the fuck is that supposed to mean?” a direct question to tim, which means he can’t ignore it and has to actually answer. it’s not that he thinks that his family will hate danny or jazz, it’s just that he’s been keeping them secret safe away from gotham from his family since his early teens and it’s going to be weird to bring two very different sides of his life together. (though with what martha and thomas have been saying he and danny might not be so different with their secrets after all)

“well, you see, i had parents, and one of those parents was my mother, and she also had parents. those parents, my biological grandparents, had two daughters, janet and maddie. maddie had two children, and that makes them my cousins, considering maddie is my aunt.” yes, tim, that is one hundred percent what jason was asking about, and not at all about the fact that you apparently have biological family that you thought wasn’t related to the world of superheroes and still actively choose to be here.

“tim, i know for a fact that you know that is not what i was asking.”

“then what were you asking, jason? did you just want me to bring the fact that, “oh, yeah, i know that all of you are orphans and have lots of trauma surrounding your biological families, but i have an aunt and an uncle and two little cousins that are all alive and well and live in fucking wisconsin,” unprompted. especially considering the fact that none of you have asked about my biological family before, it would feel kind of shitty of me to bring up the fact that i can fuck off to wisconsin for a while in order to get away from the heroing and still manage to spend time with family while doing that.” great job, tim, that wasn’t an asshole thing to say at all, and it’s definitely not going to serve to make jason even more pissed.

SO SO HAD THIS THOUGHT WHILE MAKING MYSELF FOOD!

We know, well, fandom kinda goes that ghosts form when around ectoplasm as well as have a strong enough desire to make a core. And Gotham is like Amity but less ley line more murder (so not as good ecto but still just as much, have to be a stronger ghost in general to be fine there).

Martha and Thomas Wayne are very much the type of people to come back as ghosts. No vengeance, no protection. They just wanted to see how Bruce, their little Brucie, grew up. They just wanted Family.

And that's exactly what they got!

They were thrilled when Alfred filled the role of father, even if he later claimed to just be a butler. Dick appearing in their lives was one of the happiest moments, how they wished they could tell him that his parents wished him well before moving on a few years later. Jason was adorable! Though it was upsetting to watch the other two begin too fight. It was even worse to find Jason joining them, even temporarily. Tim was a blessing to the family, keeping it from fully falling apart, and oh how they wished they could help all their little boys, because they knew where they all were and how they were feeling at all times.

With each addition they were thrilled for the large family, yet sad they could never interact, never help. Jason could sense them, but he'd only gotten help with his illness recently, poor child, he was still so ill.

The two Waynes had been there for it all. Watching, wishing, and gently tucking each of the boys in, even when they were far away from home.

But something was still missing. Both could feel that frail bond reaching out for another part of their family. A young boy they discovered while following it. He was about Damian's age, and could see them! He didn't seem aware he was adopted, let alone had a family waiting for him, but he also seemed so overwhelmed. The two decided to watch him but leave their little Danny alone. At least, they would until he was in danger.

And just like with the rest of the family, danger came.

It was just a random afternoon when they'd felt the pull of panic from the half ghost child, yet they couldn't leave Gotham so quickly. Bruce and Dick had a fight for the first time in a long time and...well it wasn't pretty and left ALL of the other children worried and confused.

So with the ectoplasm they'd gotten with their growing family, and even visiting their halfa on occasions, Martha and Thomas Wayne decided to do something about it.

The mansion was haunted. For the last few days things had been going completely haywire with no reasonable explanation but ghosts, or magic, but from what they knew the two went pretty hand in hand. So they decided to call Constantine to figure out why.

None of them expected Bruce's parents. Especially when they told them they needed to go save their brother Danny...a name that one particular batkid hadn't heard in a long time.

Martha and Thomas kept getting stronger with each kid Bruce adopted/got, Steph and Barbara inculded, and could feel a semi-frayed bond with one of the kid's biological brother and it led to Danny 🤗

They didn't plan to introduce themselves since the boy seemed happy enough despite the stress, they did not really see what his homelife was like. It was only after they felt something happen through their bond (which because they have obsessions based around family they can sense their own family) that they realized something was wrong and decided a good ol fashion haunting to catch their attention so they could find a way to tell them to get their brother.
