The funniest part of the whole "um actually I'm autistic I can't listen to rap it's so overstimulating 🥺" thing is that rap isn't even a genre. It's just a way of delivering words. Now obviously they're using it as synonymous with hip-hop, but plenty of hip-hop artists don't rap at all. I can understand calling things like trap or grime or crunk overstimulating (and I'm using the terms to describe the actual genres here, not in the way that white people like to use them as blanket statements to discredit all hip-hop), but that's nowhere near all rap. You're telling me boom bap is overstimulating? Lo-fi hip-hop? Fucking rappers delight??? And don't even get me started on if you consider r&b and hip-hop as falling under the same umbrella, because if you're gonna claim you find boyz ii men overstimulating you just straight up hate Black people.

And I guarantee, I GUARANTEE, 90% of the people who say that already listen to rap in some form, just yknow. White. Gorillaz? Linkin park? Beastie boys? Fucking 21 pilots? All rap! Do you find those overstimulating? Then what about nova twins? Bob vylan? Fever 333? Skindred? Soul glo? Kid bookie? Does the same genre only overstimulate you when the artists are Black?
