Phew! I think this typeset took the most brain power because I had to translate a fic heavy with images as well as links to photos of actors and other media (a number of which have become dead in the years between) but I adore this fic since the day it was posted.

Had to track down age appropriate actor headshots (are some of them the exact ones? Uh, no, cause Internet Archive doesn't have a saved copy of the links) and ended up shoving them all into each movie section endnotes lol, and so so much QR codes+URLs.

But also I had to perform 3 exorcisms/deep cleaning on the printer cause it absolutely refused to emit any gosh darn magenta ink, so compounded frustration.

In the end I made a soft cover/paperback out of it with a naaaaarrow oxford hollow because I have a hot glue gun curse. The cardstock is a seriously pretty embedded glitter type, so shiny!

The best High School AU that I've ever read.  Even Steve Rogers is believable as a somewhat smelly, gangly, awkward, oblivious teenage boy.

ETA: I wrote that before my kid went to high school, she's graduated now.  This story is so true and funny that I laughed until I cried.  Sarah Rogers A++ parenting.

Middletown: A Study of Suburban Life by @morgan-leigh (M_Leigh)

Happy Steve Rogers Day! I realized I should rec something Steve Rogers today and I just finished reading this incredible work of art by M_Leigh.

Middletown isn't just a no-powers Avengers High School AU: It's a no-powers Avengers High School AU in the style of George Eliot's Middlemarch, complete with subtly ironic omniscient narrator. I love how horribly high school all the characters are, lovingly describing their flaws and lamenting their dramatics, while treating them all with the slightly sarcastic affection of adults who spend a lot of time caring for teenagers.

From that one teenager who becomes obsessed with Catcher in the Rye, to kids who are weird in their own wonderful ways, the author does an incredible job of both capturing teenagers and what it's like to be an adult around teenagers (fondly reminding me of all the wonderful weirdos I taught during my tenure as a high school teacher), while at the same time capturing the personalities of the characters: Steve, kind but awkward, Bucky, angry and confused, Thor and Loki's confusing relationship, and all the rest. It's hard writing such a large cast of characters, but M_Leigh does it incredibly well. The whole thing is heartwarming, hilarious, and deeply enjoyable!

Hello! I was wondering if you remember a fic where Derek had an older human brother whom in the fic was alluded to being a Spark? I think his name was Patrick and he was powerful but died in the fire and Derek is reminded of him because Stiles is also a spark.
