Determination is Magic

A lot like rips of Slider from Super Mario 64, Megalovania rips are some of the most common and most celebrated rips on SiIvaGunner - and with pretty understandable reason. The channel began in January 2016, just a few months after Undertale's launch completely shook online gaming discussion to the core and the hype surrounding its music was absolutely unreal. It was inevitable that the most popular track from the time's most popular game would become one of the channel's first-ripped themes, and eventually one of its MOST ripped themes to boot. Yet somehow, I've still barely covered a single one of them: I think the closest I got was with Fly High, No Lies ~Genocide Ending~, as Chad Warden's appearances on the channel have often been associated with Megalovania. The track's rips have been immensely flexible and varied in that sense: Clicking on a Megalovania rip is like a game of roulette, only most of the numbers are winners. And with Determination is Magic, we absolutely have a winner.

It's just such a simple but well done joke, yknow? You listen to the first part of the rip and how it goes up to major scale, and at first think that'll be the extent of the joke - its the infamously intense Megalovania, shifted into major key to make it sound hopeful and cheery! And that part alone sounds great, and lasts just long enough to trick you into thinking that'll be the extent of the joke, until the actual melody starts thirty seconds in. The melody suddenly playing the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic theme comes as a complete gutpunch in the best way possible, yet doesn't disrupt or feel like a bait-and-switch of the ongoing music playing due to the aforementioned major scale. It's such a well done ruse, yet Determination is Magic just continues to deliver from there - the song actually sounds REALLY good in this style to boot!

The rip is more than just a mashup, and plays with Megalovania's sound in some really interesting ways, whilst also incorporating some elements from the Winter Wrap-Up song from FiM as well. The initial surprise is fantastic all on its own, yet it keeps surprising you at several points of the rip whilst still effectively being one single joke throughout all of it. One of the cleanest, best examples of "simple but effective" I've yet seen on SiIva.

is it offensive to call pwdwarfism "dwarfs"? ive heard a few people use it to refer to themselves, is it akin to reclaiming a slur? what are other words i can use if so?

So, according to this post by @a-little-revolution, which is a video featuring a few people with dwarfism discussing the terminology the prefer, "dwarf" is an iffy term. It could be taken either way by people with dwarfism, some see it as an offensive term, others are completely fine with it, so it's probably best not to use if if you don't have dwarfism. If someone with dwarfism says it's fine for you to address them in that way, it's fine to refer to that particular person like that, but it's not a term they're all comfortable with

More acceptable terms include Little Person and person with dwarfism in an activism setting. But outside of that context, just refer to them by their names.

So my thing is outside of medical circumstances and activism sorta talk, I don't see a need for the terms of dwarf, little person, and so on. If someone comes up to me and ask why I'm short (which has happened a multitude of times) I just say "I have a type of dwarfism". Most of the time people don't believe me especially because I have proportional dwarfism which is a less uncommon type of dwarfism that people don't take into account.

And the conversation of "well what do we call people that look like you" well you call us by our names. If you don't know our names just say "The shorter person, the small person" just normal descriptive terms.

If you're doing activist, or advocating, the general term that is used as a whole is Little Person/People or LP for short. If you're talking about another person, you're probably close enough to that person to know what terms they prefer. Midget is an absolute no, anytime and always. Dwarf—as Aaron said—is iffy with a lot of people. Dwarfism is another that some people like and some people don't. Little person is the most accepted one and even a lot of organizations have this as their names. Short Stature is one I'm honestly not sure about because people with proportionate types of dwarfism (Tuner syndrome, prader-willi syndrome, Noonan syndrome, and many more) are usually given the secondary diagnosis of Short Stature Syndrome. So weird medical stuff here in that not everyone is given that Short Stature Diagnosis it's very confusing and it depends on the doctor and even what type of Dwarfism/condition you have—but my point is some people hate using medical terms to describe themselves so just putting that out there.

Personally I like dwarfism, I don't mind dwarf, and I like the usual descriptive terms for Short. I actually don't like Little Person for myself, I don't like when people call me that, and again it's a personal preference. Even when I talk about myself I say "Short", "Tiny", "itty-bitty", "itsy-bitsy", I call my hands "pudgy" and myself "Stubby", "ant-sized", "The size of a speck of dust", "pocket-sized", my friends call me "Fun-sized" and "pocket-friend"; and even one of my very close friends calls me an "Elf" on occasion when I wear this pair of green socks that fit me comically big. I'm Mexican too so people call me "la nanita", "Chiquita", "poquito", and such.

My argument here is really that there's a lot of normal everyday terms to describe someone, we're not just medical words and definitions.

Lookbook 004. Diablo

These last several days were stressful. I live in Texas a few counties away from the coast. I thought Beryl was coming this way so I spent days bringing in the cat shelters I have outside into my laundry room & bringing in the 9 feral cats I feed. (I also have 2 indoor cats & a 17 year old dog). Then at the last minute Beryl shifted away so we were very lucky. I tried to relax and take it easy by exploring SL and I did the Womenstuff hunt. It costs 50L to join the hunt/group and I found a lot of nice pieces to add to my inventory. The bodysuit I'm wearing is one of the items included in the hunt and it is from [NC] Noble Creations. It can be worn alone but I threw on these pants from OVER and they fit perfectly.

JAKK are our original characters (from @lea-heartscxiv and me) made several years ago, but we never got to share much information about them. JAKK consists of Jack Santos, Aris Angelopoulos, Kyle Ishikawa and Kyla Ishikawa as the main characters, and their family as supporting characters, all living in Sulani (In an unspecified place in Okinawa Island). As a brief summary the three are college students who care for and raise Kyla in a house, all four living together as Kyle and Kyla's mother, Xiomara, is the mayor of Sulani and has less time than she would like to share with her children. The information is being added little by little in our Blogger, so when it's more complete it will be reported here so that whoever is interested can read it. Jack is the most cautious of the three (Kyle, Aris and him), he likes to think a lot about things before doing them and when it's always his turn to take Kyla to sleep, he likes to sing lullabies in Spanish, as one of his two mothers is half Spanish and when she went to sleep she always sang lullabies to him.

I finished some christmas presents I was working on, so my brain wanted to draw something I've been really want to... So hey! It's Pear! He's finally here!

He's still a relatively new oc so I'll probably throw a ask meme at some point but feel free to ask whatever. He's a work in progress for now, though!

some info I've thought about him below:

General backstory

Prickly Pear Huerte, most commonly referred to as Pear by friends and family, was born to Sitrus Huerte and Ocotillo Cactus Huerte. He was an oops child (although he was still loved dearly) which made him quite a bit younger than his older brothers: Passho and Saguaro.

Despite his age gap with his siblings, Pear had 2nd cousins on his father's side that were close to his age, Pecha and Rawst, and since they were being raised by their grandparents the three felt closer than distant cousins usually are. Many of their summers were spent together.

When Pear was fourteen, he was excited to find that his cousins would be coming to go to school at Naranja-Uva Academy with him. The three became even closer during this time.

Around the time Pear graduated, his grandmother, Babiri, began getting sick. Due to her increasing age and arthritis, it became much too difficult for her to take care of herself. Being the youngest and not really having much of a job other than the family business, Pear stepped up and took most of the caretaking work for his nanita himself.

Miscellaneous

Pear accidentally comes off flirty to many people because he likes to compliment a lot. He just feels like if someone is pretty, he should just tell them. Plus he likes their smiles when he does.

He likes to talk to and about plants like they're people. Often names the trees in the berry orchard.

Isn't as bashful with love as his cousins, but he is a bit busy to actively pursue romance. If he's asked on a date he'll accept, however, with a broad smile.
