sigh ...prohero!bakugo going on an interview with your baby girl.

he'd be so uncharacteristically, to the media at least, gentle with her. he'd be answering questions, and sometimes letting her gurgle and babble on and on, saying "that's right" and encouraging her as if she was actually answering.

the nicknames he'd have for her would slip out as she played with the toys in the highseat he had them bring out for her. saying things like "be careful sweets" or acting surprised with her as she made a little rocket fly around.

you'd be standing off to the side, both of you looking proudly at her, and laughing when she mimicked katsuki's quirk with a 'boom' sound effect coming from her mouth.

he'd have a soft look on his face as she eventually wobbled over back to you, but since the show must go on you walked over and sat with her on your lap right next to katsuki.

you completed the interview together, getting meaningful opinions from your daughter as you answered the questions together, all of you looking between each other for guidance at each one.

i had a dream last night that i organized a tumblr meetup and we all agreed to go to a local bar together. so i go to the bar but it was a really busy night and i didn't want to ask every stranger "are u here for tumblr reasons" bc that's embarrassing and i'm shy. so i just got a drink and felt very awkward & hoped someone would approach me. tried to look inviting and like i was from tumblr but not like i was "from tumblr". when i left some girl stopped me to ask if i was there for the meetup but i was too shy and asked what's tumblr?

in the dream i went home to make a post about how nobody showed up to the tumblr meetup but my entire dash was people saying they'd gone to the bar but were too fucking shy to admit to being on tumblr so we'd all just had a drink and gone home

i think the thing that's really hitting me about the dsmp lore stream in 2024 is. it's not just about c!jack and c!tommy, and it's not even just about jack and tommy, but it's also about us. sometimes, when things end, it just hurts. so much just hurts. and you don't look at it for a long time. maybe you go through a phase where you hate it. maybe the people involved turn out to be terrible people. and sometimes things that hurt you make you angry (and god, was anger so core to jack's character, back when it ended). and it feels like you'll always be angry about it. and it'll always hurt. and you'll never want to look back again.

and then one day, you do look back, and you realize you haven't thought about it hurting in a long time.

i have this post about how everything i write is about grief. and you could make a good argument that everything after l'manburg in the dsmp was about grief.

but the thing about stories about grief is: eventually, you look back, and you realize you haven't thought about the grief in a long time. and maybe it's still there. maybe it still hurts. but maybe, also, there's a lot there you love, too. can still love. can still make you happy. it doesn't hurt you as much, as often. you don't think about it as much. you can, despite everything, somehow, it snuck up on you: you can think about something else.

i think about that sometimes.

and i think that's why this wasn't just about jack and tommy. and why it hit me so hard. you know?
