2003 - Teniendo como escenarios El Foro, el CECUT y el Avalon, se realiza la versión tijuanense del prestigiado festival de música electrónica Mutek@Mexico, donde se presentaron, entre otros, Akufen, Nortec Collective, Murcof, Álvaro Ruiz, Leandro Fresco, Ford Proco y Childs. Dentro de quienes colaboraron y posteriormente impulsarían sus propuestas a otros niveles, estarían Static Discos, Mil Records, Kimika, Naza Space Club, Trancelucid, Cosmikal Records y muchos mas, que continuarían realizando eventos de primer nivel, llegando a rivalizar en algún momento con otras plazas.

Lotic se presenta en NANO MUTEK 04

El jueves pasado fuimos testigos de dos eventos singulares; el fuerte granizo que cubrió de blanco las calles y la presentación de Lotic como parte del NANO MUTEK 04.

Entre la decadencia y el Art Deco de la Calle López, casi llegando al coloso de mármol blanco, se encuentra el foro Normandie. Lugar que se ha convertido en uno de los comunes para este tipo de eventos y que esta vez acogió la segunda presentación del productor estadounidense.

El evento contó con la apertura de Wasted Fates de NAAFI, encargado de poner los primeros tracks para romper el hielo en la pista.

Un poco más tarde llego Jlin quien se rifo con una buena mezcla que nos puso al borde de armar el footwork sobre el concreto del lugar. Con su clásico beanie y sus largas rastas, se conectó con el público de buena forma para sacudirnos la impaciencia de ver a Lotic.

Fue en la doceava edición de Mutek cuando lo pudimos ver por primeras vez. Sin embargo, el hecho de haber adquirido nueva madures en su paso con Tri Angle Records  y ahora con Janus Collective despertaba cierta emoción.

Ya en la madrugada, el afroamericano salió con una crop top negra y bastante sensualismo para tomar el control del lugar. Pasando entre su material propio y estilos como, Jungle, Trap y DanceHall; Lotic no dejaba de seducir las consolas para poner a bailar a los presentes.

Julieta Venegas, Las Trompas de Falopium, Amorphous Androgynous, solo por nombrar algunos. Su álbum más reciente TRANSFORMERA contiene la colaboración visual de Ken-ichi Kawamura, un artista japonés que basa sus conocimientos en diseño, tecnología y marketing. I attended the 14th edition of the Mexican festival MUTEK - the international festival of digital creativity that unites music and technology. This latest edition featured the United Kingdom as a partner and I was pleased in particular to be at one of the innovation events alongside long-time associate of mine, Israel Pons of Angels Nest LatAm, who I am happy to have worked with in both the UK and México, at events to raise the support and profile of Mexican SMEs. Now entering its 15th edition, MUTEK continues to go from strength to strength, branching out with new editions of the festival in other countries. It is a fantastic display of creativity and it was great to have so many UK artistes performing as part of the festival and to be there to support them in their navigation of Mexico; providing them with recommendations for their initial and future experiences and projects. Loved the variations in pace, the variety in sounds. Took me back to the 00′s for a while.

Been listening to Mutek live for the last couple of days. So I created a playlist in Soundcloud with Mutek favourites from the past 20 years.

On another note, I couldn’t not mention Avalon Emerson and Courtesy live at Sonar 2017. Because Courtesy is always a good idea.
