Do you ever think about how hostile todays world would be for Ella (Enchanted) what with modern advertising? Adblockers MANDATORY lest she enter financial ruin. She couldn’t drive down the road without horse blinders on. I think about it all the time.

Also she’d have to get Mandy to vet all music for her. I feel like she’d just do a lot of movie soundtracks and classical.

Yeah, they never really get into how music with lyrics works for her, do they? I mean, she lives in a world without recorded sound, and medieval(?) music wasn't known for having as many imperative phrases as the modern sort often does.

The Top 3 Ads From The Superbowl (In Our Opinion)

Sunday night was an exciting night in Football as the Philadelphia Eagles and the New England Patriots went head to head, but if you’re not the biggest sport’s fan then I’m sure you enjoy the commercials a little bit more. Marketers of top companies such as Tide and M&Ms watched and waited to see if the colossal amount of money they spent would pay off. This year NBC charged a whopping $5 million for a 30-second spot, which basically guaranteed their ad would reach the eyes of millions of onlookers. So was it worth it for companies to spend this much cash on a Superbowl spot? We think it paid off for these three companies whose ads were attention-grabbing and hit the nail on the head.

1.     The Bud Light Spots These days you can’t walk into a party atmosphere without someone shouting the phrase that Bud Light has turned into a hit and this year, for the Superbowl, they capitalized the success they’ve seen with their “Dilly, Dilly!” campaigns. The two-part set of commercials were each set during a medieval time period, just like their other ads, with the ‘underdogs’ battling a much more prepared army, all for cases of Bud Light. What makes this commercial so successful is that Bud Light took something that they know works and made it arguably better by creating a humorous storyline that almost ran parallel to the football game (the Eagles being the underdogs going up with the more favored Patriots). Introducing the “Bud Knight” was also a great addition that I’m sure will pop up as a Halloween costume a few times next year.

2.   Budweiser’s “Stand By Me” Spot Budweiser has been stirring up some “tugging at the heartstring” content for years now starting with their Clydesdale Pony commercials and now with their latest Superbowl spot. This year, the country was shaken by the massive damages that natural disasters caused in places such as Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. So instead of promoting their beer directly, Budweiser showed the work they put into providing canned water for disaster relief. With the song “Stand By Me” playing in the background, this ad did a beautiful job at storytelling, it was relevant and touching while giving viewers a break from all the humorous spots we saw this year.

3.       Alexa Loses Her Voice Amazon used their Superbowl spot to promote Alexa, their digital assistant. What made this spot stand out from the rest and made it such a success were the various cameos by big (and relevant) celebs including Chef Gordon Ramsay, Rebel Wilson, Cardi B, and Anthony Hopkins. From Chef Gordon Ramsay, who is known for his temper, going off on a young man who asks Alexa for help with a grilled cheese recipe to Cardi B rapping her 2017/2018 hit when asked to play some country music. The spot was clever, humorous and made us all want Cardi B to be the permanent Amazon digital assistant.

Mondo totally introduced Taka to it, and they definitely listen to it together.

Mondo

90s rap and rock. As stated above, he listens to Tupac with Taka. By himself, he listens to stuff like Nirvana, Pantera, Guns & Roses, and Slayer.

Byakuya

He listens to classical, but he doesn’t actually like it. He only listens to it because he thinks that’s what rich aristocrats listen to. He doesn’t listen to anything else because he has so much pride that he refuses to listen to anything else, even by himself.

Toko is a Kpop stan. Enough said.

So like, I knew that the United States Postal Service was Super Good, and, Very Important. I lived in Scotland for a year and while the free healthcare was everything I’d hoped it would be, I would take the USPS over the Royal Mail any day of the week. I don’t know if it was because I was living in student accommodations or something, but the USPS seems like way less of a pain in the ass to deal with (though I will say, the people working in the RM stores I went to were very nice. Wait, the people at one place were nice, the people at the other place were like, “eh.” But I had moved flats and couldn’t go to the first place anymore >_>). 

Well then! Thank you Cody’s Showdy (Some More News) and your information about how the USPS has been slowly degraded and eroded away - mostly by republicans - over the decades. Like… I know they’re all neoliberals a la Reagan or Thatcher and they want to privatize everything, but can’t we just accept that some things are things we’re supposed to have? Like, as humans who exist on this planet who need things to be able to continue to exist?

But then like… there’s a reason why I’m the Family Socialist. 

I was deadlifting when I started this video and when the “jaywalking, punk anarchist!” part came up I laughed and dropped the weight. It’s Radical Reviewer with an essay on the stupidity of conservatives pretending that protestors and leftists are making 1984 happen.

I get that PragerU is just propaganda and that Dave Ruben is a propagandist, but I feel like they have to had sold their souls or something to be so intentionally obtuse and not be just… curling inwardly on themselves from the gravitational waves of how dense they are. Like… anyone could read the book and be like “No, you’re wrong,” but Dave blocks people on Twitter, so how would he ever hear them?

Also, Orwell was a socialist so to take his book and literally do the doublespeak shit in the book at his own book?

Speaking of “yikes” did everyone else see Ben Shapiro just own himself like the slavery that he claims wasn’t bad? Love Kurtis Conner’s take: “I fell on my keyboard and my hands typed out ‘WAP Cardi B Megan Thee Stallion I’m Horny’ and the video came up and I accidentally clicked on it and I accidentally watched the whole thing.” Like, how do you “accidentally” watch a video?

You know when you’re in high school and you know someone who’s completely bothered by something or someone and they say, “I don’t even care! I don’t even care! I don’t even care! I don’t even care! I don’t even care!” about 40 times and you’re just looking at them blankly and you’ve just been doing Shakespeare in English class so you’re like, “Methinks the lady doth protest too much,” regardless of their gender? All of the conservative blustering over the song feels like that.

So, spoilers, if you haven’t watched Westworld. I haven’t, but I like to live dangerously. Here’s Just Write with Westworld And The Trouble With Ensembles.

So the reason why I wanted to watch this when it popped up was because my comic that I wrote during July (and part of August) is an ensemble cast. So, I think this did a lot to answer my questions on how to make a story with an ensemble cast be good and not a mess, and it even brought up some things that I hadn’t thought of, so, thanks Just Write.

This show isn't about your political ideas. This show is about people fucking up! This is about humanity fucking up. You saying "this is misogyny!" "This is women hate"

Have you been watching? Yes this show treats women bad but this is based on a medieval timeline where women were treated less than. In terms of writing. I think every character has flaws. You guys jumped on this show with expectations of having a female heroine to look up to (which was your mistake). You can't idolize a realistic character (no this stories aren't realistic but its characters ARE!). Why? Because every human has good and bad in them. Don't idolize anyone! That is the mistake with tons of people these days. Blindly loving celebs when they are completely different in person. For example: Cardi B. She was loved and people found out she was drugging men! Dont idolize that! Love the parts of her that are good. Beyonce: don't idolize her! She stayed with a man who cheated on her. (But this is controversial and it is up to her to make her decision on her relationship! I'm just talking about in general) She makes meaningful music that speaks to people! Love that part of her. Ariana Grande: she does so much for the LGBT community! That's amazing! But she has made many mistakes that have been public.

Let's start a movement of loving people and characters for the good they provide and understanding the sides of them that aren't good shouldn't be idolized.

Daenerys was so amazing. She saved so many people and that should never be forgotten. She freed so many slaves. That should be looked up to. She was brave when people tried to kill her! I have no idea how I'd survive that!

She had flaws and that's ok! She was arrogant :

Ex: "I am the blood of the dragon!" "I am the blood of old Valyria"

She was extremist:

Ex:"I will take what is mine with fire and blood." "They can live in my world or die in theirs" "if they die it would be for a good cause"

Does this make her a bad person? No! But it's not something to say "YAS QUEEN" to.

I'm glad they made her flawed! I want more flawed female characters! Women are complex beings with love and hatred.

My favorite all time female heroine is Katniss Everdeen! I love her with all my heart but I can objectively say it was wrong of her to kill innocent people at the end of the series. It wasn't justified. But I do understand it. I understand her angry and sadness and I love her anyway...but I dont idolize that.
