Do you ever think about how hostile todays world would be for Ella (Enchanted) what with modern advertising? Adblockers MANDATORY lest she enter financial ruin. She couldn’t drive down the road without horse blinders on. I think about it all the time.
Also she’d have to get Mandy to vet all music for her. I feel like she’d just do a lot of movie soundtracks and classical.
Yeah, they never really get into how music with lyrics works for her, do they? I mean, she lives in a world without recorded sound, and medieval(?) music wasn't known for having as many imperative phrases as the modern sort often does.
We know she can resist commands directed at other people that she happens to overhear- the part when she reflexively fastens her mother's necklace around Hattie's neck and then realizes the order was for Olive -but so many songs are just directed at the generic listener.
Would she be stuck with flu symptoms from inability to lick Cardi B's neck, back, etc. until someone came in and countermanded WAP for her?

@gaypuree said: I’ve seen 1-3 would you recommend the next 5
I absolutely adore 4 and 5 (luke from gilmore girls is there). saw 6 or as I like to call it “jigsaw goes bananas” is a bit weaker as the killer gets more sporadic but ups the gore ante and i like the story line. 7 has the worst traps and a kind of weak story but it sees an extended scene of neo nazis brutally dying and a pretty good ending so it was worth it for me
JIGSAW IS THE ABSOLUTE WORST ONE AND I HATED THE TWIST AND EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER
and finally spiral was ABSOLUTELY FUCKING FANTASTIC every trap was a banger the story was a banger the villain was right and you don’t need to have seen any other saw to understand it

murky, daydream, and parchment :D
Murky: Biggest Fear?
I have a LOT of fears, but the biggest one is being abandoned by friends/lovers who decide I’m too much to handle and not worth sticking around for.
Daydream: Best memory?
Watching the sun set over lake Erie with my bff @gaypuree last fall, also stargazing and talking about aliens with a good friend of mine at a youth camp retreat a couple falls ago
Parchment: Favorite book?
Right now I have to say Wild Embers, by Nikita Gill.
Thank you!!!

I’ve been very interested in your br!dgerton costuming takes, and now that I’ve actually watched the show I can tell you that as someone who cares a lot abt the social politics of the regency era it’s basically fanfiction on that front too. Like. The strict social rules are what make media set in this era INTERESTING but ur two main leads literally have a conversation about masturbation before they’re even ENGAGED?? I have to lie down
I’m sorry they have a conversation about W H A T
Like I’m not saying that never happened IRL. People have always been human, and humans don’t behave with perfect etiquette manual manners at all times. If premarital sex happened between engaged Regency couples- and it did, sometimes without a ton of concern from society at large as long as the bride wasn’t visibly pregnant at the wedding -surely premarital frank conversation happened, too. But it probably wouldn’t have been super commonplace.
Also, like you said- isn’t that half the point of Regency romance? The rules, the Yearning, the witty banter, the passion smoldering in glances and touches while the leads have to remain calm and unruffled to outside observers? As with the costumes, I have to wonder if this even IS aspirational fantasy for the viewers.
Is that what the kids are dreaming of these days? You meet a handsome, brooding duke and the two of you...um...talk about masturbating while your stays chafe your bare torso bloody under a 99% modern dress that makes you look about 12 years old?
Fantasies sure have changed since my own teenage don’t-give-a-damn-about-accuracy days.

Oscar wilde
Oscar Wilde: What book have you read more than once?
Oh gosh, so many! I tend to reread books a lot. Like I didn’t really read many new books last year, but I reread several! I recently reread Howl’s Moving Castle, and I’m currently rereading Wildwood Dancing.
I tend to reread/ listen to the Parasol Protectorate books fairly often, and the Pink Carnation series too.
I read my original copies of the Harry Potter books so often growing up that they fell apart and needed (or still need) to be replaced

going to a regency masquerade ball for the first time on saturday! my costume might not be super accurate but i’m actually pretty excited
Yay! That is really exciting.
Don’t worry too much about accuracy unless it will contribute to your enjoyment of events. When I go off on inaccuracy, I’m mostly talking about movies and shows with the budget and expertise to do better. If you feel like the prettiest princess at the ball, that’s really all that matters. You can try for an accurate costume next time if you want, or not; it’s up to you.
Have fun and take lots of pictures!

Okay lets walk through OP’s argument @gaypuree
1. Ms. Adichie supports “terf rhetoric” / feminism
2. Ms. Adichie is a “terf” / feminist
3. “radfem ideology intersects with white supremacy” (it doesn’t)
4. Ms. Adichie is a white supremacist
Thats the argument thats being made by OP and the one you’re defending. There are some racists in every community, including the radical feminist community, their beliefs are not acceptable beliefs, nor are they shared ones.
Something that’s been on my mind recently is the terf rhetoric used by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and the like, where they say that there’s fundamentally a difference between cis and trans women because trans women supposedly have experienced “male privilege”. I obviously think this is bogus, but I’m not a trans woman so I can’t talk about that aspect of the trans experience. What really bothers me is that even if transwomen supposedly have “male privilege”, that would be fine because surprise, all women have different experiences with womanhood! Gender is intimately tied to culture, religion, language, and history, and so a white cis woman has a different relationship with her gender than an Indian cis woman, who has a different relationship with gender than a black cis woman. There is no “universal femininity” because all women around the world experience gender differently. I think this is where radfem ideology intersects with white supremacy because they assume that white cis womanhood is the default of womanhood and that experience is shared by women around the world. The reality is that “womanhood”, if such a blanket term can even be used, is remarkably diverse, and transwomen fit under that umbrella not despite, but because of their diversity of experiences.
(TERFs do not even breathe near this post.)
