i'm interested in finding someone who can make an edit for me? i need a heavily tattooed nomad steve/ari for a maybe header/title image for my mth fic. i tried using canva and i stink at it, but i'll keep trying. who does the best edits? who would be willing to help me? who can point me in the right direction?

Crafting forecast! Or update? not sure which lol - The quilt sandwich is assembled* for the rainbow stripes/polka dots quilt, so I should get that finished tomorrow or Monday - all my fabric scraps are neatly put away into either the “needs to be cut to usable size” bin, the “too small for scrap quilt, just right for crumb quilting” boxes (sorted by color), or the “cut to size for scrap quilt” drawer so I’m setting aside the scrap quilt for now - next up I think I might make some fleece beanies to donate? I prefer to donate the knit or crochet beanies, because I think the wool content makes them warmer, but the fleece beanies are way faster to make and it’s still pretty cold where I live so I want to give the shelter a bunch of beanies to give out asap - after that my break from working on my to-do list is over, so my goal for this year is to get at least one item from my to-do list crafted every week until I get them all done. It’s a lot of Bucky Bears, mostly, but there’s also a crocodile Loki, some pride creatures, and a teddy bear prototype to figure out so I can make the Bearvengers (Avengers but teddy bears). If anyone wants to see it I can dig out the actual list? *the quilt sandwich is backing fabric, batting (the innards of the quilt that help make it warmer), and the quilt top, stacked on top of each other and pinned (or glued) in place so they can quilted

Talking about Marvel Trumps Hate on AO3

We love it when folks spread the word about Marvel Trumps Hate—the more people take part, the more money we raise, all of which goes to amazing charities!

We encourage all creators to shout from the rooftops (and their social media platforms) that they're participating in the auction, so people can check out what's on offer. We also really appreciate when creators acknowledge that their work was made for MTH to create awareness after the auction ends.

However, if you want to talk about MTH on AO3 specifically, there are a few things to keep in mind about how you're talking about the auction and your involvement so that you don't break any rules. We don't want you to get into trouble!

You can:

Say that your work was created for Marvel Trumps Hate

Provide a link to the MTH Tumblr, Twitter, or website to explain why a fanwork was created (we also encourage you to post to the appropriate annual MTH collection and use the gifting function to gift a work to the person who won your fanwork)

Refer to your fanwork as a gift (NOT commission or charity/gift commission) for your winner

You can't:

Say that you're participating in a current or upcoming charity auction and link to your auction listing (or anyone else's) in your author's notes, footnotes, or elsewhere on AO3

Call an MTH work a commission anywhere on AO3—instead, say that it's a gift for your winner for the Marvel Trumps Hate event

Solicit money by asking people to bid on you, encouraging donations to a charity and/or including a link to the charity or your auction listing, or mentioning that you take commissions (including charity commissions) on AO3

On platforms other than AO3, you're welcome to talk up your offerings, link to the specific charities that you're supporting through your auction offers, and share your (or others') auctions by reblogging your mthofferings.tumblr.com auction post or linking to your auction listings on the MTH website.

Why shouldn't you advertise charity auctions or use the word "commission" on AO3?

Using the right words matters.

MTH is proud to be inspired by other fandom charity auctions and positions itself within the long tradition of fans gifting fanworks and fan labor to each other. The auction event team members gift their time and talents to organize MTH, and fandom creators agree to gift their creative efforts in recognition of the donation that bidders make to the nonprofit organizations that are listed on our Supported Organizations page.

We want to make sure that people thinking about participating as creators and/or as bidders are 100% clear about what the auction involves and are confident about the integrity of the auction. One way of doing this is making sure that everyone knows how the money travels—directly from bidders to the nonprofit they're supporting, without ever being touched by MTH creators or the event team.

That being said, AO3 is not an advertising space and has Terms of Service around commercialization of fanworks (Section I. D5) that forbids any form of commercial promotion on AO3, even if it's for charity. This is not because exchanging money for fanworks is explicitly illegal but because the OTW legal team believes that one of the ways the archive can be protected legally, as both a collection of transformative works and as a nonprofit organization, is to have a firm "no commercial promotion" policy.

On charity events specifically, the TOS FAQ clarifies:

"The Archive will host fanworks of any origin, including fanworks created in response to charity drives or other challenges. A link to a charity drive to explain the origin of a fanwork is appropriate. Solicitation itself, however, should take place outside the Archive. We concluded that this policy was the easiest to apply fairly to everyone, given the wide range of possible solicitation activities." (AO3 TOS Content FAQ).

If you're reported by someone for soliciting on AO3 and found to be in breach of the TOS, you'll be emailed by their team, asking you to remove all the "commercial promotion" material (i.e., all the money-related words like "bid," "donation," or "commission") from the work, comment, bookmark, or profile in question. This includes tags, descriptions in author's notes, and comments on works. The Policy and Abuse committee doesn't screen fanworks; instead, all reports are made by users of the archive. That means that even though there may be places you violated these rules, the committee may not be immediately aware of it; however, as a violation can be found by a user and reported at any time, even from long, long ago, we encourage people to review the wording they used in reference to MTH—or any fandom charity events, for that matter—and make edits if necessary to be on the safe side.

Note: if this does happen to you, you can always appeal or ask for more time to rectify the issue so don't be alarmed. All Policy and Abuse reports are handled by real people who are volunteers for the organization.

We ask that you follow these guidelines so that if you spread the word about Marvel Trumps Hate on AO3, you do so in a way that won't cause you stress or trouble in the future.

“Tony,” Steve calls, voice splintering at the last syllable. He stares imploringly at Tony, who still refuses to look at him, gaze trained at the ground. Taking a deep breath, he lets his fingers curl tighter around Tony’s wrist, and finally throws caution to the wind: “You’re in love with me.”

A while ago, I wrote wanting was enough for the lovely @t0nystark1er after they won my Marvel Trumps Hate 2020 auction. To my surprise, a few months ago, they approached me again telling me that they had commissioned an artwork from the talented @zappedbysnow​. The commission was for an artwork of any scene from the fic — my choice. To say that I was touched and honored is a massive understatement. I was so grateful that they liked the fic enough to commission an artwork for it, and that on top of that, they had commissioned an artwork from a SteveTony artist whose work I happen to absolutely adore. Finally, I decided to go with this particular scene from the fic. It’s a scene that I thought of as the “climax” of the fic, a moment that marked a turning point in Steve and Tony’s relationship within the story. I still like the scene a lot, and I thought Snow did a brilliant job of capturing the tension between Steve and Tony in that moment. Their facial expressions are so vivid and accurate, like they were pulled straight out of my imagination. The nervousness on Steve’s face, the way he felt so terrified but still decided to soldier on. The lines of Tony’s face taut with tension, body half-turned away as he moved to leave, his eyes downcast as he avoided Steve’s gaze. Their height difference, Steve’s firm grip around Tony’s wrist. I could honestly go on and on about how much I love this piece. Thank you so much to the lovely @t0nystark1er​ for bidding on me during MTH 2020 and for commissioning an artwork for the fic. Thank you to the talented @zappedbysnow​ who poured hours upon hours into this masterpiece, constantly keeping me updated throughout the whole process, and being patient with me and my many requests and frequent lapses in communication.

2023 in review

Just the fannish creations, thanks. I don't want to think too hard about how fucking weird and stressful the year was outside of that. XD

I found some old 00Q art hiding on my hard drive and posted it in Feb.

I wrote a short Inception ficlet for @ladyprydian in April to try to jumpstart my muses. It didn't work.

I binge-wrote a whole-ass Sandman fic with (gasp!) fade-to-black porn in it in May.

July brought the Stony games! I was much less prolific than last year, but I managed a few things, starting with 3 little drabbles about perception.

I did a giftfic for the games! It starts in media res and I, being a troll, titled it In Pornia Res because yeah, this one's just pure porn against a background of worldbuilding.

I posted a longstanding WIP that was 100% self-indulgent trash, with Tony and Steve getting Bucky as their new sugar baby and treating him them right. Absolutely just the fluffiest of trash, but 66K of it!

I posted another longstanding WIP that's really pre-slash (I KNOW so weird) but involves catboy Tony, catboy Bucky, and a puppy Steve who's gonna get both (after the fic anyway).

My last little Stony Games fill was 8-bit pixel porn, because of course it was.

Later in August I did the "write what you want to see" thing and banged out (heh) a very kinky Stranger Things fic with Steve/Eddie and a leather bar. Somehow, it's still extremely fluffy.

I drew! Fanart! With pens and shit! Also Steve/Eddie.

And then I made pixel art of them, because why not.

Another Steddie fic, this time a modern AU with 'lost touch' feelings and also banging the rockstar in his hotel room.

And finally, my MTH2021 fic is posting a year late, and will continue on into the new year. It's all done and edited, I just like the daily posting method for getting drip-fed dopamine and also sitting there posting 29 chapters at once is no bueno.

What's Coming in 2024 (besides my blorbos)

I have a few more Stuckony WIPs waiting in the wings, including my MTH 2022 fic, which I hope to finish in time to actually participate in 2024.

I have at least 1 novel coming out and maybe 2? I didn't publish ANY original fiction last year (gah), but I finished 1 draft (the sequel to Hive) and am plodding along on 2 more (Julian 4 and something new). I am so slow these days, tho, gah. I have no idea how some people put out multiple books a year, year after year.

I've got a few more Eeveeon arts to share, which I always forget to do on Tumbls.

I might actually open commissions next year (for art, I don't enjoy fic commissions).

I'm gonna a Stuckony Valentine thing, so you'll get at least one short fic from me in Feb.

I'm hoping something new will sweep me into its fandomy arms, because while I do love my current blorbos (MCU & Stranger Things), neither one is really doing the full fixation dance in my brain and that's sad. OTOH I'd like to finish my MCU WIPs before that spark fully dies ahahaha haha ha.

As far as art goes, I'm keeping up my Patreon sketch cards and not a ton else, but my new-new meds are helping me Get Shit Done, so I'm really hoping that I can get back into larger-than-a-playing-card artwork, both fannish and non.

I'm still gonna do more of my 8-bit bullshit, though.

Are commissions open? What would you be interested in commissions of? I love the crotchet pieces, the stuffed animals, and the quilts (off the top of my head) and I’m interested in understanding what you’re interested in working on.

Hi! Commissions are always vaguely open, in that if you message me and request a commission I'm willing to talk about it, but these days I accept fewer commissions than I used to (I have a full time job now, so less crafting time available) I sometimes accept crochet commissions, usually for smaller things, more frequently accept sewn stuffed animal commissions, and so far I don't accept quilting commissions. If you're interested in commissioning a quilt, I highly recommend @anotherdayforchaosfay! Chaosfay is a phenomenal quilter who has been quilting for far longer than I have This time of year, I'm working on my MTH auction fills and holiday crafting for friends and family, so unless the thing you want to commission is a fairly quick and simple project, I am probably not going to be able to accept the commission for a few months
