it was very big and brave of me to post fic for m*a*s*h without having seen the whole series first

babylon 5, although you wouldn't know it to look at my finished ao3 works.

5. What ships captured your heart?

same b5 topic, this is the first time since puberty that i can remember going into fully feral otp mode with a non-romantic pairing (sinclair & delenn). screaming crying freeze-framing, the whole deal. it's so embarrassing of me that i don't even want them to fuck.

m*a*s*h <3 and ship-wise, sheridan/delenn and mirror trip/t'pol.

10. What fic was the most satisfying to finish writing?

WELL since a full half of my fics were posted 1 minute before the deadline (i wish i were exaggerating), the primary emotion involved was relief that the page loaded before the hour ticked over, but i worked soooo unnecessarily hard on Placed Among the Stars (stargate atlantis, sheppard/weir) and felt like i hit all the notes that it was the most satisfying to finish i think (even though i had more and it was going to be much longer -- hopefully a sequel this year!).

11. What fic was the most difficult to write?

Desert Fire (enterprise, mirror trip/t'pol). i thought i was going to have to download tinder to remember how sex works.

longest was Desert Fire (7500 words), shortest was Evenly Matched (x-files, msr, 1700 words)

i somehow wrote so many fics themed around stars that i ended up with a songs-about-stars playlist. (favorite of the bunch is Stars Will Align by kygo & imagine dragons)

15. What was the hardest fic to title?

there were a couple real weak ones in the mix this year, the weakest being The Long, Dark Night (the x-files, doggett/reyes). like come on girl!

i listened to every possible song i could find with "stars" in the title to eventually run out of time and choose and at the center, just you and me (stargate atlantis, sheppard/weir, title from "stars fell on alabama"), but i'm happy with that now!

16. What's your favorite title of the year?

a road with no wrong turns (voyager, janeway/chakotay) because the line "the future is a road with no wrong turns" came to me first and then i write a fic that would let me use it.

oh noooo when i couldn't think of one i went back through my works page and i haven't written a humor fic since 2022. the only thing i can think about is this little exchange because i smile when i picture it (keiko & molly on ds9):

people enjoying my m*a*s*h fic! i still get nervous whenever i enter a new fandom <3

no, the very act of surviving a deadline is celebration enough. go outside? get some sleep??

25. How did you recharge between fics?

i almost always watch episodes of whatever fandom i'm going to write next to charge up before writing fic. we'll pretend it's not procrastination and just that i must become one with the character voices before i can proceed.

just a few tumblr creations, my favorite of which was an attempt at web-weaving (i am become a name; sinclair & delenn) and a recent meta post i'm proud of about chakotay and starfleet.

nine exchanges!

i answered all the other questions, but in looking at my stats i realized i am at 45k words for the year, so maybe by the end of 2024 i can make it to 50k... probably not though!

Ahhhh, what good things aren't there to say about them(tm). I love both the drivers individually of course; Little Dav is such a fun child and Christian is sooo weird. I love them both dearly.

The childhood/teenage teammates lore is so under looked in their dynamic. I just feel like so many people don't know about it, but the infamous article during the 2022 rookie season, where David mentions Christian coming to indycar meant he was gonna have a real challenge now?? Christian being quoted by the interviewer as saying "we haven't become enemies" while allegedly smiling?? Like why did he word it like that?? Insane behavior. This article really rewired my brain to love them.

David just sees Christian as this huge challenge to him from a driver level, he clearly respects him, but he also still calls out how they were such good friends back in the day. Christian meanwhile just seems to enjoy teasing and getting under David's skin, but in a fun way- he also respects the other clearly too with how he praised David’s driving during his roty interview.

This year alone with David getting signed with McLaren but never getting a real chance with them, meanwhile Christian had a good start to the season and podiumed even... Then Christian signs with McLaren, and David comes back with msr and starts doing really good the later half of the year while Christian flops instead. Them basically swapping colors in the whole drama (if David does end up red and black like his announcement tweet seemed).

Their red string of fate narrative is sooo compelling. And yet they just seem really chill around each other despite it all. Like no matter what happens they'll come back the following weekend and tease each other and laugh just like they must have while in Europe together.

Dylan Scott - Livin' My Best Life (Still)

So today on the MSR (Midnight Star Review), I would like to talk about the latest album release from Country Music Singer Dylan Scott. The new CD is titled "Livin' my best life" was released on Friday August 5th, 2022 and the deluxe edition with the title "Still" added was released on March 29th, 2024. There are 26 tracks on the new 2 disc CD. But as usual, we will talk a little bit about the artist before we dive into his new project.

Dylan Scott has scored 4 number ones on my weekly list MSR (Midnight Star Report) which combines both CMT (Country Music Television), the Billboard Country Music Airplay Charts, & even myself. Some of Dylan's biggest hits include songs like "My girl", "Hooked", & "Crazy over me". But he is still new to us, and he does have 16 tracks on this new album. Let's talk about some of the tracks that stuck out in my opinion from the new project next.

His current singles "New truck" has already gone number one along with another song from the album "Nobody". Other songs that you should listen to include "Can't have mine (Find you a girl)" which has also gone number one, "Static", & "Boy I was back then". The title track is also one to listen to "Livin' my best life", "Tough", & "Good times go by too fast". The stand track in my opinion is "In our blood" which features Jimmie Allen, & another single he released a little bit was "Nothing to do town".

But now since there is 2 discs on this album. Other highlights of the album also include "This town's been too good to us", "What he'll never have" which is a standout in my opinion, & "Boys back home" with Dylan Marlowe. "What I'd want mine to say", "Heartbeat of America" which is another standout track, and now about some of disc 2 highlights. "Lay down with you", "Killin' some time", which is another standout track, & "Hell out of me". And there is also 2 remix version of 2 tracks from this project. There is a lot of songs for this project which means there would probably be something on this album for anyone. And Dylan co wrote 13 out of the 26 tracks. And he also had help from some of our favorite names in Country Music. What Do You Mean, No?

October 1999

“Tali-Keno,” Mulder said excitedly as he opened the door to the office, causing Scully to startle and glare at him.

“Jesus Christ, Mulder,” she said, letting out an exasperated breath. “Whatever happened to good morning. How are you today?”

“Good morning, Scully,” he replied with a grin, hanging up his coat as she crossed her arms and stared at him. “How are you today?”

She rolled her eyes, but could not stop her lips from quirking as she shook her head.

“I was doing well until you burst in here like an overly sugared toddler,” she stated and he laughed as he stepped closer to her. “What were you saying? Something about a teddy corn?”

“Tali-Keno,” he corrected her and she shrugged as he grinned.

“Who, or more than likely what, is a Tali-Keno?” she asked and he chuckled.

“The Tali-Keno is believed to have lived hundreds of years ago-”

“Hmm,” she hummed, shaking her head.

“And recently it’s been spotted.”

“Has it?”

“Yup!” he said excitedly, turning to the filing cabinet and rifling through the drawers. “It was believed to only appear in October, around Halloween, scaring children and causing adults to take caution, staying home to avoid being killed or maimed.”

“Sounds like a story told to keep townspeople in line. Most likely as a balance between God and the Devil. Good and evil.”

“Oh, Scully,” he said, taking out a file and slamming the drawer. He smiled and opened the file, handing her a piece of paper with an old drawing of a large gargoyle type creature.

“Mulder,” she scoffed, laughing slightly. “You can’t be serious. This is a generic drawing that could be anything aside from what it is supposed to be. It could be a large dog, perhaps a person in a cloak or a jacket. Perhaps the person who claimed to have seen it was drunk or suffering from a sickness. There are many things it could be aside from this… tall, grotesque… are those wings?” She looked at him and he nodded happily. “Mulder…”

“Okay, I can see that drawing hasn’t won you over.”

“Hardly,” she murmured, handing him back the paper and he chuckled.

“How about this one then?” He handed her another one and it was almost identical, except this creature had red eyes and claws dripping with blood. She looked at him and sighed. “Or this one?”

Another drawing, very similar to the other two, was handed to her and she shook her head with a smile as she gave them both back to him.

“What?”

“Mulder, no.”

“What do you mean, no?”

“I mean,” she said, pointing to the file. “This “creature”-”

“I don’t think there’s a need for air quotes here, Scully,” he deadpanned and she fought back a laugh.

“This… idea,” she said, raising her eyebrows and he nodded with a small smile, accepting the change. She rolled her eyes and licked her lips to stop from smiling back at him. “This belief, or legend, is not unlike the hundreds we’ve investigated already.”

“No, it’s different.”

“How?” she asked, crossing her arms.

“It only appears around Halloween.”

“And?”

“And? You need more? It’s Halloween, Scully,” he said, giving her an incredulous look.

“And?” she asked again.

“What do you mean? How are you not getting this? It’s a creature. It’s Halloween.”

He stared at her and she blinked a few times before shrugging her shoulders and making a face. His mouth dropped open and she laughed, reaching out to pat his arm.

“Mulder, we have investigated many “monsters and creatures”-”

“Again with the air quotes,” he said, sighing as he shook his head and she laughed again.

“We’ve investigated many unbelievable things and often it’s not a monster, it’s simply a person or… an alligator.”

“How dare you,” he said quietly and she laughed harder, shaking her head at his expression of mock outrage.

“Mulder…” she said, smiling and placing her hands palms up as she shrugged again. “I don’t see how Skinner is going to allow us to go chasing after this thing without any cause.”

“It’s been seen, Scully. Eyewitness accounts.”

“Not by a lake,” she said teasingly and he narrowed his eyes at her. “Because we’ve already solved that one.”

“I refer you to my previously stated comment,” he said and she smiled.

God, but he is cute, she thought, her eyes flicking quickly to his lips then back to his eyes.

“I’m not going to some lake to hunt down a monster,” she said. “I have no desire to end up stuck on a rock watching our boat sink.”

“Well, you’re in luck. It’s not been spotted near a lake.”

“That’s good.”

“It’s been seen in a graveyard.”

“Mmm,” she growled, her eyebrows knitting together.

“An old graveyard at the edge of a forest.”

“Ughhhhh,” she drawled out and he could not suppress a grin.

“Always after midnight.”

“Mullllllderrrrr,” she whined and he laughed, squeezing her upper arm. “Noooooo…”

“It will be quick, hopefully, as Halloween is in five days.”

“Noooo,” she said softly, groaning as she stared at him.

“Four people have reported seeing it in the graveyard before it then hurries at impossible speed back into the forest.”

“Oh, that sounds like it will be super easy to solve,” she said sarcastically. “Why are we still talking about it? Why aren’t we on our way to… where is it?”

“Vermont.”

She blinked at him then exhaled loudly through her nose.

“Vermont,” she said flatly.

“Mm-hmm.”

“Vermont. In the fall. In a graveyard near a forest.”

“Colonel Mustard with the lead pipe,” he teased and she inhaled sharply.

“Do you have any idea how cold it’s going to be if we do go gallivanting off?”

“Not if, when.”

“Mulder,” she said, shaking her head. “No.”

“Scully, yes,” he said gleefully. “We have a briefing with Skinner in… twenty minutes.”

“What? No. Why? Noooo. Mulderrrrr,” she whined again and he laughed, now squeezing both her arms.

“Make sure to pack some warm clothes, Scully. We’re heading off to the beautiful state of Vermont.”

She groaned and he laughed once more as her shoulders slumped and she hung her head in defeat.

“I’m not alone, and neither are you.” She told him, whispering into his ear as she cradled his head, holding him close. “I’m here for you, I hope you know that.”

He may not have had the best relationship with his mother, but he couldn’t help the sadness and loneliness that invaded his heart. He felt cold and alone; had been ever since he learned about her death, but hearing her voice the last time over a voicemail seemed to be the last straw. Hearing Scully say those words brought a sense of warmth within him. Her presence made things bearable, and he was eternally grateful that she was with him.

“Don’t go,” he softly begged. “Stay, please.”

Scully moved his head from her shoulder to make him face her. His eyes were bloodshot from crying and tear tracks were visible on his cheeks.
