I used to believe the same until someone told me that "sheriff is one of the most trusted people in the city" (their words. I'm not sure how true that is, but other people were agreeing with them soooo)

so uh here's a sorta explanation i wrote a bit ago but ill try break it down into points

maker and machine come into existence somehow

maker creates employers to help run nevada

maker creates the gen 1 grunts

phobos rises to power and is given the nexus charter, which he seems to not really care about

project gestalt begins development

jeb and hof kill phobos. his s3lf seems to fuse with dormant gestalt maybe?

sheriff is left in charge of the industrial sector

hanks park incident

sheriff activates the drive and turns everything CRAZAY

the agency changes directive to go after hank somewhere around here [also clown yay]

hank terrible rotten beheading moment and demon clown

jeb destroys a drive and dies

hanks awful no good time in hell + revival [mag edition] and deimos death waa

audi absorbs tricky and explodes reality seems to be getting even more fucked up

hank and san adventure in audis pocket dimension

their bodies are seeming brought back but s3lfs are still in audi hell?

hanks missing and infected with dissonance [GUESS WHO PREDICTED THAT? THAT'S RIGHT ME.]

san is revived without actually dying reality is writhing in agony

audi is getting in trouble for meddling

awaa a lot is guesswork especially related to 12 for now until i get more solid theories but yeah thats my take on it

not really an ask and I never tell anyone this but the first madcom fanfic I have ever read was 2bhank ship and whenever I thought about 2bhank I always think back to this fanfic. too bad I cant remember the name of said fanfic (and I think its unfinished, it was one of the earliest 2bhank fanfics on ao3) but the story was focused on doc that had to work with hank and doc was extremely wary of hank in this fic (and a bit afraid) .Hank in this fic was very violence and indifferent towards everyone including doc at first. in this fanfic I love how it showed that hank had a way to show that he cared about doc in subtle way (theres a scene where someone insulted doc and hank stepping up prepared to beat the shit out of that person but doc stop him because he didn't wanna have trouble and hank let him). many 2bhank fanfics probably have this trope already these day and compare to MPN , doc's whole personality in this fanfic might sounds different from the game (fanfic was wrote in 2021 before MPN came out) but I still love this fanfic to this day (I dont really read madcom's ship fanfics since its not my main focus but this one is cute)

OHHHH MY GOD HIHIHI so i have self shipped for about 6+ years but my longest running yume ive had consecutively is sheriff!!!! he's been my boyfriend for almost FIVE years now and he's my everything!!!!

i started crushing on him back in 2020, when i first revisited madcom. i was SO obsessed with him because i thought his classic design was the cutest and most endearing thing in the WORLDDDDDDDD. i fell out solely bc my friends made fun of me realllllly bad....soon when mpn dropped i revisited madness combat and GOD everything i wanted and more was from that !!!!!!!!! all my ideas and headcanons on sheriff revival came true and i was absolutely 100% smitten and it was 100% in the bag!! i first realized i had a crush on sheriff on 9/02/20 but i didn't officially yume him until October of 2021!!!!!!

he is my absolute everything i love him so much i have a magent of him and im working on an Ita bag plan for him!! i do have other yumes that are important to me, but hes been my MAINNNN hyperfocus for YEARS!!! i can recognize any sprite even if you cut off his face, i can basically recite his entire wiki on multiple pages off by heart, i have been his number one defender FOREVER. i love him so much...to me he's such a kind grunt and he's trying so hard to make a positive impact even if it gets fucky wucky along the way. all the happysheriff art i post i consider yumeship bc i project a LOT onto skittles so take that as you will, LOL

i have the hc that the room in the mpn release date trailer is sheriffs office because who else in the merc ( the security footage on the monitor is a room in the industrial sector ) would have a vaguely hank shaped dummy with a billion bullet holes and stab wounds

Genuinely convinced that Project Nexus 2 fumbled Hank by making his motives for going through with destroying the nexus "he's a merc with a job to do" instead of Hank knowing that destroying it would end the world, and that's what he INTENDED on doing because he's insane from dying over and over, and tired of being a plaything for a force he can't see. If it takes ending the world as a whole for his suffering to stop, he will do it.

... and he should've without explanation picked up The Sheriff's hat after he died and worn it the rest of the game. That too.
