The other Bronze â Pt. 16 đ
This Chapter contains some adult content
Por mi vida... Te amo a la luna y de vuelta mi hermosa....â„ïž
âYou can keep dreaming because that won't happenâ the dark haired woman laughed
âWorth a tryâ you smirked as you pulled Jennis jersey over your head
âDear jesus Christâ you gagged lightly after you sniffed the fabric âSure you only wore that for that game??â
âActually no... that's the same one we wore at the Euro finalâ the spaniard deadpanned âWe're broke you know... we have to re-use jerseysâ
âSeriously??â you asked outraged your eyes wide with shock while Lucy started to snicker behind you
âOf course not... but you and your stupid tactic had me run a lot â sorry that my jersey doesnât smell like detergentâ Jenni rolled her eyes
âI think it was a good tacticâ you defended yourself pouting âLucy you tell herâ
âYou put me in goal!!!â your sister exclaimed
âYeah... that was funny.. the way you panicky screamed at Mills to keep âthat bloody ball far FAR awayâ from you....â you chuckled as your sister hit your shoulder
âY/N... you still have something to doâ now Sarina interrupted and you know you still need to come up with an apology to Rubiales
âHow believable would it be if I suddenly have a stroke?â you asked the dutch innocently and all players around you snorted
âNot very believable... come on... the sooner you get it over with the sooner I can reward you for your actionsâ the blonde coach winked
âHermosoâ you looked at Jenni â... it was a pleasure as always... I have to go and fake apologize to your... whatever he isâ
âOh Corazon... I didn't even show you pleasure but okay...â the dark haired winked âand he's the federation presidentâ
âHe's a fucking cunt that's what he isâ you grumbled not even catching up on Jennis comment
âAnd THAT'S exactly what we don't say in our apologyâ Sarina said chuckling
âDo I really have to come up with an apology on the spot without swear words?â you asked in disbelieve
âYes Bitsy...â Keira rolled her eyes â... and I know you can â you always pull your head out of the sling somehowâ
âOkay okay... give me a minute okayâ you huffed starting to think of what to say â... Hermoso could you stop drooling over me abs? I know they're fantastic â me girlfriend tells me every time we...â
âSTOP talking!â Lucy exclaimed shuddering at the thought of you and Georgia doing anything else than holding hands while Jenni, Keira and Sarina bursted out laughing
âIt's distracting!!!â you huffed
âI am distracting you?â Jenni smirked enjoying the little banter which distracted HER from the previous incident
âNot you... you eyesâ you grumbled âI need to think quick hereâ
âCome on Liefjeâ Sarina suddenly pulled you away âWe won't get anywhere if you butterfly with Hermoso all the timeâ
âI'm NOT butterflyingâ you huffed annoyed
âYes you are... now... this is going to happen now... you are going to apologize officially right in front of the crowd and later again at the post-match pressâ the dutch said and you grimaced
âReally? In front of the crowd?â you whined
âYes... this is damage control and when everyone sees how âsorryâ you are we have a good chance that FIFA won't interfereâ Sarina said seriously and you huffed
âBut I don't wannaâ you whined again but one look from the dutch shut you right off
âYou'll do fine Bitsy okay... you're good at thatâ Keira squeezed your shoulder supporting
âUgh.... fineâ you huffed annoyed as someone handed you a microphone connected to the stadium speakers
You started to walk out of the tunnel and you knew the second the camera caught you and your picture appeared on the big screens since suddenly there was loud cheering and it made you smirk. You walked all the way to the kick off point standing there for a second taking a deep breath before turning around facing the spanish bench where Vida and Rubiales were still standing. You saw how the medics just packed their stuff together and how Rubiales had two tissues hanging out of his nose. You really needed to bite your tongue so you wouldn't start laughing â you were âsorryâ after all. At least that's what Sarina told you you were. You saw how all the players â Lionesses and Spanish â were lingering in the tunnel entrance waiting for your speech
âHiâ you started awkwardly looking into the stands after the crowd calmed a little bit which caused a new round of cheering and whistleing. Vida and Rubiales looked at you expectantly and when they saw you wore Jennis Jersey you saw how Rubiales jaw set challenging.
âOkay guys... I'm here to apologize for me actions towards Mr. Rubiales a few minutes agoâ you said using your âI'm so so SO sorryâ-voice â... I honestly don't know what caused me to act the way I did... I'm in the wrong here because violence is never the answer no matter how disgus... no wait... I'm not allowed to say that... violence is never the answer! Let stop there... I never meant to assault you Mr. Rubiales...â you looked at Rubiales himself trying to sell your apology so hard by talking directly to him â... I never meant to hurt you and I don't have an explanation for what happened. Please believe me when I say I'm sorry from the bottom of my heartâ
Even you know you went a little over but you really REALLY tried not to verbally assault him right now
âYou did nothing but being polite to me and what happens in your federation is not my businessâ you said and some people would swear they heard a threatening undertone âI hope you accept me apology and we can forget this... incidentâ
You walked back towards the tunnel before making a turn towards Rubiales himself offering you your hand to shake it. He grabbed your hand hard his jaw still set when you pulled him a little forward
âIf you ever pull off something like that again you fucking cunt I personally will cut off your balls and feed them to you through your asshole and then I make sure that there's no inch of DNA left of your existence...â you growled into his ear covering it up with clapping on his shoulder like both of you made up â... most of them players I consider my friends â family even... I don't take it lightly if they get put in an uncomfortable situation and I always will have their backâ
You let go of him smiling sweetly before turning around walking back into the tunnel where everyone stared of it with disbelieving looks. You smirked feeling great pride and satisfaction with yourself.
âI am REALLY proud of you Liefjeâ Sarina beamed as you reached her letting her pull you into a hug
âI can't believe it... you actually delivered a grown up apologyâ Leah said her face showed pure shock
âYeah well...â you shrugged your shoulders
âI can't believe you apologizedâ MapĂ looked at you a little disappointed
âHad to... they made meâ you pointed at Sarina, Keira and Lucy
âI'm proud you didn't punch him again â I was worried there for a second when you made a beeline for himâ Lucy threw her arm over your shoulder standing next to you proudly âAnd you didn't threaten himâ
âI definitely didn'tâ you quickly said and your voice was a little high-pitched
âBitsyâ Keira warned you
âHm?â you looked at her innocently
âPlease don't tell me you did...â the blonde looked at you expectantly
âSo... my rewardâ you turned towards Sarina
âBitsy!â Keira exclaimed
âWhat? You said to not tell you... so I don'tâ you defended yourself
âWhat did you say... I knew that handshake was a cover up... I KNEW ITâ Keira said annoyed
âLook... I just let him know how... I consider most of the spanish team me family... and that I'll always will have their backâ you said honestly âandhowIwillfeedhimhisballsandthattherewon'tbeanyDNAleftifhepullssomeshitlikethisagainâ you mumbled before quickly sprinting behind Alexia and Jenni ducking for cover
âCome again???â Keira looked at you shocked while the spanish players looked at you confused since you spoke to fast for them to understand
âCould you repeat that for the not english speakers please Cariño?â Alexia said confused
âI rather notâ you mumble âKeira will have me headâ
Luis Rubiales chose that exact moment to walk into the tunnel and you immediately stood up taller again moving in front of Jenni in a protective manner â which looked kind of ridiculous since Jenni was over a head bigger than you. He threw a death glare at you but continued walking as the crowd of english and spanish players parted like the sea for Moses.
âIt's kind of cute how you try to protect me little oneâ Jenni chuckled from behind you
âHe's a... MapĂ... worst spanish curse word you knowâ you spat looking at MapĂ
âCojones or Conoâ MapĂ easily provided earning herself a really hard slap to the head from Irene and a death glare from Alexia
âThat... he's both of that...â you growled looking after Rubiales
âDon't teach her thatâ Irene told MapĂ off harshly
âShe askedâ the blonde tattooed woman defended herself
âAnd you CHOSE to answerâ the Vice-Capitan answered
âI just wanted to helpful...â MapĂ mumbled pouting
âDon't push it MarĂa LeĂłn and just keep your mouth shutâ Irene grumbled
âBitsy... come here sweetieâ Keira cooed sweetly
âOh no... not gonna fall for that... it's like the time you told me you wouldn't get angry if I tell you what I did and after I told you you made me do push ups in the pouring rainâ you shook your head looking at her scared shuffling backwards
âI promise...â the blonde tried again smiling sweetly but you saw right through it
âNo no... I think I'm gonna stay with Onaâ you said and the people who knew you could hear the slight fear in your voice
âYou still have a pre-match conference to attendâ Sarina reminded you smirking
âAaaawww maaaaanâ you whined âI did what you told me to do â why do I have to sit through that as well?â
âBecause it was your game today and not mineâ the dutch said âSo YOU are going to answer all the questions... in a nice civilized mannerâ
âUghâ you huffed and turned to walk towards the media room âBut I'm not sitting next to that sorry excuse of a human beingâ
âGood evening Ladies and Gentleman â this is the post-match conference and we have 60 Minutes. We do it the usual way and go 30 minutes each. All question have to remind professional and under no circumstances will private questions answered. You all have one question if you want a follow up you have to talk to the person if they're willing to do one. We start with questions for the representatives of the english Lionesses Head Coach Sarina Wiegman and Y/N Bronze before going to the spanish representatives Jorge Vilda and Luis Rubialesâ the coordinator said and you knew the cameras where already on so you pushed the urge down to roll your eyes your face staying stoic âWe're starting with Alex Scottâ
You exhaled deeply knowing Alex wouldn't ask anything regarding the Rubiales-event and probably would ask something frivolous.
âAlex Scott for BBC Sportsâ Alex started smiling at you âA question for Y/N Bronzeâ
âI know your name and where you work... I've known you for years nowâ you interrupted her confused which lifted the mood in the room since all of the reporters started chuckling
âThat's how it goes y/n... we reporters have to introduce ourselves before asking the questionâ Alex smiled at you
âOh okay...â you said quickly â... sorry for interruptingâ
âNo problem... but my question to you... we were all informed beforehand through different social media channels that you joined the Lionesses as a side line analyst â how comes that you basically dictated the game today?â
âI was given the chance by Sarina... Mrs. Wiegman... Coach? What do I call you?â you started then looked at Sarina unsure which caused another round of light laughter
âSarina is fine...â the dutch smiled encouraging squeezing your knee under the table in a calming manner
âSarina gave me the chance to work on a tactic for this game â Spain is a hard opponent to play. I got to Camp with Lucy... Bronze... Lucy Bronze my sisterâ you started but then got all nervous again since you actually never had to do any press stuff before.
Again Sarina jumped in by stroking over your knee calming
â... but you all know that...â you chuckled at your idiocy â... so when we arrived at Camp Sarina pulled me aside telling me she wanted me to watch some of the spanish games and to come up with a play where we at least can annoy them a little bit. I'm pretty sure she just did that to keep me occupied so I wouldn't do some stupid shit...â you said but quickly slapped your hand over your mouth â... I mean so I don't do... stuff... but yeah... after I sat down with her showing her some plays she told me to put a starting XI together.. at this point I still thought it was all like... hypothetical.. so I did... after that she said that she liked what I came up with and that she trusts me and that I'll have the lead on the game...â
âWould you be interested in answering a follow up?â Alex asked quickly knowing that she only had a short time frame before the next reporter would be called up
âFor you always... I mean... you did change me diapers â I think it's just fairâ you grinned
âAnd you were so squirmy about it... but my follow up... what made you come up with putting Lucy in Goal?â the short woman asked smiling
âKnew you would pick up on thatâ you laughed feeling slightly more relaxed â... that was a last second decision â I had four subs planned... two at half time, two around 70th minute... I left one slot for a possible injury sub â I played some players who just came back from an injury and I didn't want to overwork them. That's why I subbed Meado off 73rd minute in... she played outstanding and I didn't want to risk setting her back in her recovery... I quickly talked to her after she came off and she said she felt good but also appreciated getting off. So after I didn't need the left over slot and Lucy was mean to me earlier â and Keira said she would pay to see Lucy in Goal â I thought... why not... and come on... it was funny seeing her panicky waving her arms around like a monkey absolutely losing her plot screaming at Mills to keep the ball far FAR awayâ you laughed which caused the room to interrupt in laughter
âOkay next question please...â the coordinator said also laughing and called up a reporter you didn't knew who had a question for Sarina so you turned out and started to look around the room with a bored face which ended in a edit about how you and Lucy are so much alike in conferences
âQuestion for Y/N Bronze...â a young lad said and after you didn't react in the slightest being busy counting the sponsor labels on the wall behind you Sarina flicked your ear
âHuh??â you looked at you confused
âThere's a question for youâ the dutch gestured towards the room âAttention on the roomâ
âSorry...â you said embarrassed
âYou got a yellow card... how did that happened?â the young reporter asked
âFirst of all... that wasn't MY yellow card... THAT was Onas yellow cardâ you started serious but your lip tugged upwards and everyone noticed that you were joking â... she committed the foul... I just... asked the Ref if she doesn't see the need to card itâ
You heard Sarina clear her throat next to you and you looked at her innocently
âWhat? I didâ you defended yourself
âYou took my glasses and ask the Ref if she needs them to and I quote âsee a foul when it's happeningâ...â the dutch looked at you unimpressed
âNot my fault she's a blind moron â that WAS a yellow cardâ you exclaimed before remembering where you are and â again â slapping your hand over your mouth
Sarina exhaled deeply and started to pinch the bridge of her nose shaking her head slightly as the room erupted in laughter again
âOkay next question... Barry... your turnâ the coordinator said and you tensed immediately.
Barry O'Connor was a legend under the reporters â he was one of the ones who could make you or break you. He never held back with the uncomfortable questions and he immediately knew when you lie and THAT he would use to break you.
âThank you Tom... Barry O'Connor for The Guardian...â the older gruff man said and looked straight at you and you just KNEW what was coming â... question for Bronze... there was a slight â let's call it ruffle after the game... any comment on that?â
âGood evening Mr. O'Connorâ you said politely â... I'm afraid you have to be more specific â there was a lot going on after the gameâ
âYou punched the president of the spanish federation â the proof is sitting right thereâ the reporter said pointing at Rubiales
âYeah... not my best moment is it... I want to apologize again and honestly I can't tell you what happened... I saw how he moved towards Jenni Hermoso and the next thing I know is Sarina yelling at me in the locker room...â you said and everyone in the room knew you told the truth â... I got the great honour to meet most of these players beforehand when I was visiting my sister in Barcelona and they welcomed me with open arms and helped me when I needed help â looked after me when I needed guidance... so I consider them as family... I don't take it likely if someone makes my family uncomfortable â which everyone who knows me can confirm... so I just â acted to protect my familyâ
âYou said you needed help in Barcelona... what happened?â the older man asked
âBarry you had your question and we said from the start...â the coordinator interrupted but then got interrupted by you
âNo it's okay... I'm honoured to be interesting enough to get a follow up by a reporter legendâ you said and Sarina heard that you were about to get serious âIt's not really a secret that I don't play because I suffered quiet early in my career from three ACL's... so even if I wanted to play I simply can't... in Barcelona a... incident happened that left me with a PTSD episode... all of them helped me afterwards â MapĂ LeĂłn right up top.. she went all the way to the airport to get me english chocolate... I got in the honour to get to know a few teams through Lucys career... if it was City, Lyon or now Barcelona... all of the teams have a special place in my heart but Barca now â they are something else... Alexia Putellas is an amazing leader â on and off the pitch... under her lead this team stepped up coming together as a family â no matter which nationality or background...â
You looked back at the reporter who smiled appreciative nodding slightly
âSo yes... they helped me a great deal... even when I got overdosed on pain meds and didn't know what I was doing and gave them nicknames and was high as a kiteâ you winked
âOkay last question for the english side before we're moving on the spanish representativesâ the coordinator said and pointed at a young blonde woman
âThank you... Sarah Mulligan for ITVâ the young woman said âQuestion for both Sarina and y/n... Sarina what made you involve y/n as much and y/n how did feel or managed with the pressure?â
âYou first?â you looked at Sarina a little lost which caused the dutch to chuckle
âThank you for your questionâ Sarina started and you interrupted her
âWe have to thank for questions...â you exclaimed shocked before looked into the room âThank you?â
This made everyone laugh again before Sarina continued
âIt's polite Liefjeâ the dutch said lovingly â... but back to the question... I got to know y/n when she was recovering from her third surgery. I just took over from Phil Neville trying to get a read on the Team having called up a few young players but also some experienced ones â like Lucy Bronze. Lucy called me two days before Camp would start asking if she could bring her little sister who just got out of hospital. I agreed knowing from former games and also from stories how much Lucy cared for her sister. The moment I saw her for the very first time I knew she was someone special. She was still wearing a leg splint and was still on crutches but that didn't stop her from refusing help even going so far to hit Lucy away with her crutch...â the dutch remembering your first appearance smiling slightly â.... she was so grumpy and angry â a deep anger and I must admit I was unsure for a moment if it was a good idea to have her with the team. I feared she would bring the team spirit down â but I was wrong. So very wrong. The moment she stepped into the Hotel lobby and I saw how many players were happy to see her I knew it was the right decision. At the first training session she sat in the stands just staring down on the pitch â I must admit I kept an eye on her because Lucy asked me too... y/n never moved one muscle just stared down on the session. So I thought I let one of the assistants take over and went up to sit next to her. I sat down and asked how she was doing. Her answer was that I should rethink this formation because it's putting to much pressure on the midfield. Then she just stood up and left. I looked down on the pitch and saw Keira and Jordan Nobbs were struggling to keep up with the pace I tried to put up with the play. That was the moment I decided to get her involved more â one because she has an eye for things no one ever sees and two she needed a task. She needed something to take her mind off her injury and what it meant â what she lost. I got her involved a little bit more every camp and this time she finally accepted my offer to employ her full time which I know is a big step for her. But a big step in the right direction. A big step towards healingâ the blonde said lovingly and squeezed your hand
âThat got deep Mama Rinaâ you mumbled getting a little emotional before looking at the young reporter woman âThank you for your questionâ
The room chuckled again enjoying your young easy and light way you were handling the situation of getting thrown into a press conference for the first time
âI'm sorry I can't provide such a deep meaningful answer but... I didn't feel any pressure to be honest. As I said before until the very last moment â the moment that Sarina made me explain my tactics to the team to be exact â it was all hypothetical for me. And after that I didn't really have time to feel pressured â I tell ya this team is a handful. Just yesterday Niamh called out Code Red â which means no one is allowed to leave â because she couldn't find her lucky socks... turns out the washed them in the sink and hung them on the balcony and they just fell off onto the balcony of Lottes... that's the shit you guys normally don't get to seeâ you said shaking your head when you remembered how ridiculously headless Niamh tore her room apart because of a pair of socks.
After the room quiet down from their round of laughter again the whole questioning shifted towards the spanish men and you started to spin with your chair until Sarina stopped you gently putting her hand on your arm to calm you down. You huffed but stayed still trying to listen to the answers of the Vilda and Rubiales but it was no use.
You heard your name a couple of times but since you didn't have any context you chose to ignore it â that was until a fuming MapĂ LeĂłn with an equally fuming Leila Ouahabi hot on her heels came blazing into the room both of them throwing some words at Vilda and MapĂ even went so far to crawl onto the table separating the trainers from the reporters. Seconds later an angry looking Alexia entered the room just in time to grab MapĂs ankle and pulling her back and away from the spanish national team coach. She tried to get her players under control by pulling both of them back by the hem of their jerseys. MapĂ was kicking and screaming like a five year old â of course in spanish so you didn't understand a word â the only thing you understood was when MapĂ yelled âmi Nenaâ - but when you looked at Vildas face it told you everything that you needed to know. You looked flabbergasted to Sarina who looked just as shocked and shrugged her shoulders before you turn towards the reporters where some just shook their head in disbelieve.
The post-match conference was ended pretty quickly after that and you basically jumped over the table sprinting out of the room past Keira and Lucy â who were waiting for you outside the room â towards the spanish locker room. This time you weren't as friendly as before and bolted through the door without knocking even tho you could hear Alexias angry voice half way down the corridor. The second you threw the door open the whole team looked at you and everyone fell silent â even Alexia.
âWhat the fuck just happened?â you looked at Alexia lost
âCariño I love you I do... but this is something we have to talk about internallyâ Alexia said softly
âMapĂ was about to strangle that mop in front of thousands and you say this is an internal thing?â you raised an eyebrow
âHe called her a âlost little child who wears shoes that are to big for her and she's uselessâ... mi Nena knows EXACTLY what she's doing... mierda we lost FIVE zero...â MapĂ started to rage again and you became big eyes
âMapĂ ENOUGHâ Alexia scolded her âEveryone SAW what she did and her head coach isn't a useless... culo like ours... there's no need for you to defend her... she has Lucy for thatâ
âBut Lucy didn't do anything...â MapĂ said outraged
âBecause her spanish is shit and she probably didn't understandâ you shrugged accepting the water bottle Ona held out for you âAnd the way you hesitated at the word âculoâ means it's bad and I'll definitely save that down in me brainâ
âNo you won't Bebitaâ Ona smiled sweetly but you know just like with Keira it was a warning âBad wordâ
âThen Alexia has to do push-ups... that the bad word rule!â you exclaimed and Alexia looked at you unimpressed
âI'm an adult... I can say whatever I wantâ the blonde spaniard said flatly
âRule applies for everyone Capiâ Jenni now grinned âDown on your hands and knees you goâ
âWhat does culo mean?â you leaned over so you could whisper in MapĂs ear
âAssholeâ MapĂ whispered back
âThat'll make 15â you looked at Alexia âThat word is an A-grade swear word.. A-grade swear words make 15 push ups...â
âI most definitely won't do any push-ups...â Alexia rolled her eyes
âBut I always have to do themâ you whined
âAnd look how much more your arms and shoulders are defined since I last saw youâ the spanish capitan smiled and pinched your cheek
âYou suckâ you grumbled pushing yourself behind Ona to seek cover from her prying hands
âNo little one... that's me... she's more the...â Jenni smirked but before she could end the sentence she got punched very hard in the shoulder by Alexia
âCome on Bebita... let's get you back to the Lionesses...â Ona said lovingly already pushing you forward slightly âSay bye-byeâ
âAss-diosâ you waved which caused the younger players to explode in laughter â including Jenni â while Alexia threw you a death glare as Ona quickly pushed you out the door
âKeira...â Ona yelled seeing Keira down the corridor
âThere you are!!! We where searching the whole place for you!!â Keira exclaimed the second she laid eyes on you âDon't you ever do that again!!!â
âI was just at the spaniards and pretty spaniard taught me a new wordâ you smiled at the blonde proudly
âDon't evenâ Ona warned you
âWhat happened?â Keira turned towards the blonde spaniard
âShe suddenly kicked in our locker room door... and didn't except âit's an internally affairâ from Alexiaâ your sisters girlfriend shrugged her shoulders
âUh Kei...â you pulled on her jacket a little bit âAlexia said an A-grade swear word... and she refused to do push-upsâ
âReally now... we can't have that now can we?â Keira mused sensing that you started to get tired and pulled you into her side winking at Ona before turning around slowly leading you back towards the Lioness locker room pulling out her phone to text Lucy and Leah that she âfoundâ you
âYou little shite...â Lucy started immediately but got cut off by Keira
âLeave her be... she's dead on her feetâ the blond said firmly basically carrying all your weight your head on her shoulder
âCome here Bubsâ Lucy exhaled deeply hoisting you away from Kei into her own arms cradling you like you were a three year old again while Keira got all your bags
âHow bad is it outside?â your sister asked Leah who sneaked a look outside looking at the crowd waiting for the players to emerge from the stadium walking to the bus
âNothing we're not used too...â the blonde capitan shrugged
âI'm asking because of herâ Lucy nodded towards your sleeping form in her arms slightly drooling on your sisters jacket âIf she gets startled half the team won't get an inch of sleep tonight â you remember the drama after the France game?â
âWait... I get the noise cancelling headphonesâ Mary said thinking quickly pulling already on Rachels headphones getting them off her and carefully sliding them on your head.
You quickly got startled by the sudden loss of hearing but Lucy had you under control quickly by manoeuvring your head into her neck. The moment you smelled the familiar scent of your sister skin you relaxed again becoming boneless in her arms.
âShe's so outâ Keira chuckled
âYou surprised?â Lucy answered hoisting you up a little more âFuck me... this was easier when she was 3â
âNo shit Sherlockâ Millie deadpanned âGimme... I'll carry herâ
âNaah â we're goodâ your sister said but smiled at her teammate thankfully âI'll just bring her into the bus and then come out to sign some stuff...â
âYou don't have to â you're not obligated to do so and you know itâ Leah said seriously
âI know... but they waited long enough now and she'll be good once she's inside the busâ your sister answered âLet's get this show on the roadâ
As soon as the doors opened the fans went wild â as usual and Lucy was so SO thankful for Marys quick thinking of putting the noise cancelling headphones over your ears. Your sister walked quickly with you in her arms towards the bus disappearing inside it. She disposed you into her own seat asking the bus driver if he could have half an eye on you. Of course he agreed quickly being a fan of you himself with all the shenanigans you came up with all the time.
Your eyes fluttered open slowly and you were met with â darkness. Darkness and softness. You bolted upright searching for your phone in the dark. Getting more arrogated which each passing second you knocked over a bottle of water which caused a light to get switched on and you were met with the sleepy looking form of your girlfriend.
âWhat you doing baby?â Georgia asked her voice raspy
âWhat are you doing in my room?â you asked confused âWhy am I in my room??â
âFirstly... that's my room... secondly... you were out like a light once Keira found you and then YOU wouldn't let go of me shirt and Keira got Lucy to agree to let us room for tonight under the promise that I won't touch you in any ânot biblicalâ formâ your girlfriend informed you
âWait... what day is it???â you looked at her confused
âWhat?â Georgia asked equally confused
âDay baby... what DAY is it?â you looked at her like you're going to have a mental breakdown any second
âStill Wednesday... game day.. 23:48... whyâ G answered keeping her voice even to not set you off further
âOh thank fuckâ you sighed âGet ready... come on... take your phoneâ
You ushered your girlfriend out of her bed â not without ogling her body for a second longer that would go through as âbiblicalâ - and then out of the room up a floor hiding behind a corner taking out our phone.
â23:52... perfectâ you grinned
âWhat have you planned??â your girlfriend whispered in your ear from behind/above you which cause a shiver to run down your spine
âWelcoming Sarinas new year of ageâ you swallowed hard trying not to think what you could do now with your girlfriend instead of hiding waiting for the pipers to come down the corridor.
âOh god... WHAT did you do??â G whisper yelled âIf I get in trouble for it...â
âPlease... as if I let you get in troubleâ you snorted spotting the first piper stepping out of the elevator
âOh god... oh god no... no no no no noâ your girlfriend mumbled with wide eyes having spotted the piper as well âYou didn'tâ
âOh I so did... mi Vidaâ you grinned evilly
âMe what?â Georgia asked confused
âNo idea... Lucy always calls Ona that â probably something dirty turn ons in spanishâ you shrugged your shoulder âWhere the fuck are Toons and Less?? And Jill... where is Jill?â
The moment you said it you saw your two best friends sprinting down the corridor, little party hats askew on their heads another set in their hands. Less was carrying some glitter bombs and confetti canons.
âWe're not lateâ Toons panted coming to a halt in front of you âWhat she doing here?â
âI'm her girlfriend??â Georgia said confused
âStill doesn't answer me question... you don't get to bake in our fameâ Ella said annoyed holding out a party hat for you which you immediately placed on your head
âFame? You really think that going down well for you?â your girlfriend snorted nodding towards the piper who just set up their bagpipes.
âOf course... that a birthday she'll never forgetâ Lessi answered grinning widely âCan we start?â
âNo.. we still missing Jillâ you pressed taking Georgias phone to look at the clock â23:59... come on Jillâ
You heard the âdingâ of the elevator and surely enough there came a big three story birthday cake wheeling out with a widely grinning Jill Scott pushing it down the corridor towards you.
âWhere were you?â you came out of your hiding â which was useless anyway since Toons and Less stood right in front of you â speed walking towards Jill smashing a party hat on her head.
âHad to think about something to get the room cardâ your Godaunt and most trusted adult friend â after Keira â said pulling out the little plastic card from her back pocket
âWhat did you say?â you snorted Jill could come up with the best backstories
âWant to surprise my wife for her birthdayâ the older woman smirked back âeasy in the nights since there are only teenage boys covering Front Deskâ
âWe'll leave quickly after we delivered our present so you two have some alone timeâ you smirked
âThank you Cookie â we very much appreciate itâ the dirty blonde laughed âYou guys ready?â
All of you nodded and Jill very VERY carefully pushed the card into the electronic lock waiting for the signature âclickâ before pushing open the door. You had Georgias phone ready and when Jill gave you a thumbs up you started recording. The pipers shuffled into the small hotel room and on a small cough from you they started piping âAuld Lang Syneâ and not even five seconds in the light next to the bed got smashed on and a completely demolished Sarina Wiegman sat in her bed, blanket pulled up to her chest, glasses askew from being placed quickly on her nose, hair standing in every direction like she just got electrocuted her eyes wide in shock. The pipers went seamlessly over to âWhen the Saint go marching inâ before finishing with âScotland the Braveâ. The second the little private concert was over Toons and Less let the Glitter bombs and Confetti canons explode right over Sarina â and her bed â all of you yelling âHappy Birthdayâ.
Your plan was nearly perfect. Get glitter and confetti all over Sarina before bolting. What you DIDN'T think off â pipers where loud. Very loud. Waking up most of the squad in process. Like Leah. And Lucy. And â most dangerously â Keira. So the moment you wanted to bolt you were met with a LOT of Lionesses. Angry looking Lionesses. Angry looking Keira. You locked eyes with her and after a second ducked behind Toons before sinking down on the ground trying to army rob out of the room hoping everyone was too distracted by everything that's going on. Oh boy where you wrong â of COURSE Keira saw you the second you tried to rob out of the room placing herself right in your way. You looked up when you hit her legs with your head which you kept down so it wouldn't been to obvious who was pressed in that room â which was overflowing with players now. Niamh and Toons already got cake in their hands (plates were overrated at this point) as Leah tried to control the chaos. You bumped into Keiras legs and looked up scared to be met with two angry glaring eyes. You tried to quickly rob backwards just to get stuck in Millies legs.
âI don't think so, y/n Bronzeâ Keira seethed pulling you up by your ear âAre you actually mad? Did you finally lose your plot? Why in gods name...â
âHey Kei... you want cake... it's chocolateâ your sister interrupted Keiras rant holding a hand full of cake right under the blondes nose
Keira just looked at Lucy then to you and back to Lucy who smiled like a happy kid with her handful of cake.
âI don't know if I should yell at both of you or just give up...â the blonde shook her head
âKeep calm and eat cakeâ Lucy smiled pushing her hand closer to Keiras face who automatically moved her head out of the way
âNo thank you... it's in the middle of the nightâ the blonde said a little disgusted
âAnd?? You think we ever get away with eating cake in the middle of the night ever again??? Embrace the moment Kei... USE the momentâ your sister said before she pushed the handful of cake into her mouth and you listened to what your sister said and used the moment to carefully sneaked away from Keira.
You tugged on Georgias shirt at your swift exit and she followed you just as quickly
âYou know you're in big shit tomor... today... today morning... later... in the morningâ your girlfriend rambled
âI know... but so worth itâ you smiled and the second you two were through the door to the stairs case you pulled her back on her shirt kissing her deeply
âNot that I'm complaining...â Georgia started once you parted again â... but what brought that on?â
âYou still had a little frosting..â you smirked pointing at your own lip â... I think I better check for more frosting once we're back in our room... you are a messy eater after allâ
âI.. I think I dropped some of the cake...â your girlfriend stuttered a little bit and you could see her eyes darkening
âYeah... thought so...â you smirked starting to walk up the stairs towards Georgias room when you suddenly feel your feet leave the ground and your girlfriend hoisted you over her shoulder
âWhat are you doing??â you laughed loudly as Georgia sprinted up the stairs
âYou're a slowpoke sometimesâ your girlfriend said exiting the staircase sprinting down the corridor on your floor before fumbling with the key card to open the door
âOpen you stupid doorâ your girlfriend grumbled you still hanging over your shoulder snickering
âLet me down... makes it easierâ you laughed slightly
âI nearly got it... wait a secondâ Georgia mumbled but a second later you heard her kicking the door
âBaby come on.... let me downâ you laughed louder lightly poking her rips
âBut don't run awayâ your girlfriend said her voice a little whine
âAs ifâ you snorted and felt her scrunch down to put you on the ground before she came up again and you were face to face with each other
Your eyes quickly flickered down to her lips before looking at her eyes again. Before you could make up your mind you felt Georgias lips on yours kissing you deeply and you couldn't suppress a moan which your girlfriend used to slip her tongue into your mouth. She pinned you against the door her hands against your hip she used her whole body to keep you were you currently were. You on the other hand fished the little plastic card out of her hand where it poked into your skin and opened the door behind your back without even looking. The door opened with a small âbeepâ and you smirked against your girlfriends lips.
âShow offâ Georgia mumbled against your lips and pushed you backwards into the hotel room already pulling your shirt over your head
âFuckâ you panted as your back hit the mattress next to your girlfriend a light sheet of sweat covering your body âTHAT...â
âBetter than the last time?â Georgia smirked smugly her breathing coming out laboured
âNothing can top last time Babe... but you triedâ you chuckled turning your body so you were pressed into the blondes side tucking your head into her neck feeling how her arm sneaked around your back pulling you closer
âI mean... I can try againâ you heard the smirk feeling how her hand started to wander again âand again... and again... and againâ
âNo... please don't... you tried enough for tonightâ you chuckled as Georgia stroked lightly over your ribs tickling you slightly before pushing her hand away positioning it on your hip
Georgia showed mercy just rubbing her thumb soothingly over your hipbone pressing a soft kiss to your hair
âYou only getter better with training...â your girlfriend smirked then yelped as you poked her side
âYou telling me I'm bad at what I'm doing?â you pushed yourself up onto your elbow looking down at her raising your eyebrow
âNo no no no...â Georgia quickly said pulling you back down this time on top of her holding you tightly to her chest
âMhm... that's what I thoughtâ you mumbled closing your eyes relaxing against the blondes chest just enjoying the time you have with your girlfriend without needing to worry about your sister interrupting
You felt Georgia wriggling around under you which caused you to lift your head â again.
âReally? You still want to... again?â you look at your girlfriend expectantly
âNo... I actually just tried to get the blanketâ Georgia laughed as she finally got the hem of the blanket and pulled it over the two of you â... wouldn't want to deliver you back to your pit bull-like sister with a coldâ
âDON'T mention my sister right now... that doesn't.. no.. just noâ you grunted
âSorry...â your girlfriend chuckled
âYou're disturbing my post-orgasmic-blissâ you complained whining
âSorry... I can... I don't know... make you forget that I just said that?â Georgia smiled her hand starting to wander towards your ass again while the other grabbed your breast teasingly
âGosh... you really are impossibleâ you rolled your eyes prying her hand off your breast
âI mean... did you see my girlfriend? I can't help meselfâ the blonde grinned pulling you a little upwards to press a kiss to your lips
âMhm... I did see her... still don't know how you scored her?â you teased smirking
âI didn't... she's stubborn... but I'm glad she threatened to break me legs if I don't pull my finger out of me ass...â Georgia murmured kissing you softly and smiled
âDid she now? I should talk to her... apparently she knows how to keep you in check â you can be quiet... defyingâ you grinned letting her kiss you over and over again
âExcuse me?â your girlfriend exclaimed acting upset
âMhm... didn't my sister told you â multiple times I might add â to keep your hands away from me?â you grinned kissing her this time
âI CAN keep me hands to meselfâ Georgia smirked âQuestion is.. would you want that?â
âSuch a rebel aren't you...â you smirked kissing along your girlfriends jaw down her to her neck
âHave me momentsâ Georgias voice betrayed her as she clearly getting turned on again
âMhm.... Keira told meâ you smirked against her neck before biting down slightly
âKeira??â this time it was G who got sober immediately
âIt's a turn off isn't it... hearing about themâ you grinned sitting up now straddling her waist
âYesâ your girlfriend grumbled âWhat did that wanna be ginger told you?â
âThat you got your first tattoo the day after you turned 18â you smirked the blanket loosely draped around your hip
âSHE roped me into it!â Georgia exclaimed sitting up as well
âOh really?â you smirked down on her taking her face in your hands kissing her softly âDo tellâ
âShe just got a new one and because she knew Mama Walsh will have her ass she convinced me to get one too... then after the next england game she hugged her mum and of COURSE Mama Walsh immediately saw itâ your girlfriend told you rolling her eyes âAnd the next thing I know is she pulled me over by me sleeve âGeorgia has one too â and she's basically a babyâ... then Mama Walsh had me ass tooâ
âShe played you...â you laughed loudly â.... she played you so hardâ
âYeah... I had to stand there for 12 Minutes getting lectured by Mama Walsh about the risks of tattoos...â your girlfriend grumbled
âTo be fair... when Mama Walsh has it out for your ass you better find someone who you can distract her withâ you shrugged still grinning
âYeah... she can be scary... but I'm still sure she loves me more than Keiraâ Georgia grinned straining her neck a little so she could steal a kiss again
âBet she loves ME more than all of youâ you smirked pressing a wet kiss to her lips
âYeah yeah... you're everyones favouriteâ your girlfriend rolled her eyes again but the slight smile never leaving her lips
âG... I... have a questionâ you hesitated a little bit
âWhat you need, baby?â Georgia asked softly but seriously
âI want a tattoo... I want you to do itâ you blurted out
âWhat?â your girlfriend looked at you dumb folded
âI want you to tattoo me.... I know what I want and where I want it...â you said seriously
âBaby.... I can't do thatâ Georgia looked up at you as you stare down at her with a little betrayal in your eyes â... first.. I never inked someone and secondly... Lucy and Keira would definitely kill me... and third.. you're 16...â
âThen I'm gonna be your first like you were mine...â you grinned and with each passing second it got wider â... Lucy and Keira never need to know... and my Birthday is in two weeksâ
âWhich still makes you underageâ your girlfriend pointed out and you heard that you slowly wearing her down
âI can get you Lucys signing if you want... like... setting up a document that she's not allowed to kill youâ you smiled widely
âI tell you what... If you get that done I'll seriously think about itâ Georgia said and you leaned down kissing her softly â... but I'm not doing anything bigâ
âDon't worry... nothing big...â you promised scratching your girlfriends neck lightly
âAnd where?â Georgia kissed your neck softly
âRight...â you took her hand laying it on your left side guiding it up to the point where your bra would sit â... hereâ
âA rib tattoo? Baby... that's a bad idea... that will hurt like a bitchâ your girlfriend murmured against your neck kissing her way down to your collarbone
âI can take it... I really want itâ you said breathlessly
âMaybe somewhere else?â Georgia mumbled kissing her way further down her destination clear
âThat's the only place Luce won't see it immediatelyâ you now outright moaned âFuckâ
âMhmâ your girlfriend hummed sucking your hard nipple into her mouth
âYou just can't... fuck...â you started to complain but your voice betrayed you once again and your hip rocked forward on its own accord
âYou want something baby??â Georgia asked after she let go of your nipple with a wet pop
âMore... pleaseâ your head fell onto Gs shoulder your hips still rocking in her lap
âMore?â your girlfriend smirked starting to knead your other breast
âPleaseâ you whined
âFingers or mouth baby?â Georgia basically growled against your skin getting slightly possessive
âFingersâ you whined lifting your hips a bit and Georgia got the hint letting her hand slip in between your legs
âYou're gonna be good for me?â your girlfriend growled starting to mark your skin with small bites not enough to leave a constant mark like she'd like to
âYes... but pleaseâ you begged and whined trying to get her fingers inside you but her hand laid still between your legs
âYou won't come without permission will you baby? You'll wait until I tell you that you can come, right?â Georgia playfully bit your nipple
âI won't... I promiseâ you moaned rocking your hips down trying to find some pressure relieve
âGood... and you won't becauseeee...â your girlfriend teased your entrance with one finger
âYoursâ you whined desperately
âMine what?â Georgia nudged the underside of your jaw with her nose
âAll yours...â you nearly broke â... G pleaseâ
âSsshh baby... I've got youâ your girlfriend soothed you slipping her finger into you
âFuckâ you whimpered feeling Georgias digit enter your heat
âMhm... so wet... so hot... so desperateâ Georgia mumbled against your jaw kissing her way to the point just under your ear âAll for me or is there someone else?â
âNo one elseâ you panted against her shoulder
âAre you sure baby? No one...â your girlfriend bit down lightly â... someone spanish maybe... Jenni Hermoso maybe?â
Your hips rocked down hard on her finger your rhythmic movement faltering for a second before it picked up again
âHmmm...â Georgia hummed pleased â... maybe that could be arranged one dayâ
âFuck...â you whimpered
âBubs??â you heard suddenly through the door loud banging followed
âFuckâ you looked at Georgia shocked her face just as frightened
âBUBS?â Lucy said a little louder
âWhat??â you yelled back your hand covering your girlfriends mouth
âYou okay? You were gone suddenlyâ your sister spoke loudly
âYeah... just... didn't wanna wait till Keira recovered from her confusementâ you tried
âCan you maybe open the door?? I'm standing here like an idiotâ Lucy sneered
âIt's... not the best time Luce...â you whined âI'm... about to go showerâ
âWell... then let me in and shower thenâ your sister wasn't giving up and you knew it
âYou can also go back to your own roomâ you said helplessly
âCan't... Less has the key card and I don't know where Less isâ Lucy groaned
âLucy please... just... go somewhere elseâ you whined back even knowing all mood was gone
âYou are my sister... why would I go somewhere... wait a second... where is Georgia?? Is Stanway with you???â your sister exclaimed
âNo for god sakes Lucy... I just want to shower in peace... fuck off nowâ you yelled through the room and suddenly it was quiet
âFuck me... she really knows how to ruin the moodâ you grumbled lifting yourself off your girlfriends lap who was still rooted in her place âUnbelievableâ
âThat was closeâ Georgia stammed still a little scared
âYeah well.. I was too...â you continue to grumble mostly to yourself until... you heard the signature âbeepâ of the door â your head shot up first to the door then to your girlfriend who spotted the same frightened look as you
You quickly threw on a shirt and gestured to Georgia to hide â which was ridiculous since it was firstly her room and secondly there wasn't really anywhere for her to hide
âHideâ you whisper yelled panicked while you threw a shoe at the door trying to block it
âWhere??â Georgia whisper yelled back looking around just as panicked
âI don't knowâ you pulled on some shorts quickly
âBubs... you blocking the door?â you heard Lucys voice and already saw the crown of her head trying to make its way inside the room
âWhy would I??â you answered and tried to sound annoyed watching your girlfriend ripping open the door of the closet âReally?? You wanna hide in the wardrobe??â
âYou have a better idea?â your girlfriend hissed back
âBath or Balcony?â you looked at her confused
âBubs... the door is stuckâ your sister complained again
âYou are stuck you muppetâ you shot back pushing your girlfriend outside on the balcony
âYeah well maybe you open the door thenâ Lucy said annoyed
You quickly went over ripping the door open looking at her expectantly
âWhat you want and where did you get that key?â you grunted at her
âWanted to make sure you okay â you're on Sarinas list now... and key... Leah â as the capitan she has a universal keyâ your sister shrugged her shoulders âJesus Christ Bubs... open the windows would you... it seriously stinks in hereâ
âI will... I just didn't want to come back from me shower into a cold roomâ you lied weakly âyou saw that I'm alright now... so... good nightâ
âYeah since I don't know where Less is... can I crash at yours?â Lucy rubbed the back of her neck embarrassed
âNoâ you exclaimed before clearing your throat âI mean... that's a little inconvenient Luce...â
âI'm your sisterâ Lucy exclaimed rolling her eyes
âI know and I love you... seriously... but I just want to shower and go to bed.. I...â you said trying to come up with an excuse â... I... have this... woman problem you know....â
âYour period?â your sister asked confused
âYes...â you nodded slowly
âAnd? Gosh Bubs you really scared me there for a second... you need anything?â Lucy said lovingly
âJust... peace and quiet... pleaseâ you basically begged her at this point
âGeez okay... I'm already leaving...â your sister said and you noticed she got all defensive
âLuceâ you whined
âNo it's okay... you're a grown up now... you don't need me anymoreâ Lucy said already half way through the door
âThat's not true.... Lucy come on...â you said again trying to calm your sister down
âKeira said I need to let you spread your wings... WINGS Bubs... not your legs okayâ your sister said and pointed at you threating
âOkay Ew... that's disgustingâ you pulled a face disgusted
âExactly... sex is disgusting... never take part in itâ Lucy said happy with herself
âYeah...â you said embarrassed â... you're too later for that I'm afraidâ
âGood... now go shower and then to bed... Sarina will blast through your door in... four hoursâ your sister smiled quickly checking her watch
âWhat does Sarina want?â you ask confused
âYou're on her list... you gonna runâ Lucy smiled before disappearing into the corridor again
âFuck meâ you exclaimed whining closing the door making your way to the bathroom
You just stepped under the shower when you remembered something important
âFUCKâ you quickly jumped out of the shower wrapping yourself in a big fluffy towel before speed walking through the room opening the balcony door again pushing your head outside looking at your girlfriend who was just covered by a thin blanket standing pressed into the corner of the outside space
âLucys goneâ you smiled innocently ushering Georgia inside
âDo you know how cold it is in England this time of the year??â your girlfriend said her teeth chattering slightly
âYeah I know... I'm sorry... but come on... I already turned on the shower for youâ you smiled
âGosh I love youâ Georgia said pressing a kiss to your forehead heading towards the bathroom
âOh and babe... Sarina will kick our door down in about four hours...â you nonchalantly called after her and you heard a crashing sound
âWHAT??â

stanway x reader where r is basically the back up cdm for england, only really plays that last few minutes of games if any so when keira gets injured at the wc, r freaks out because they have to go on and then play after until keira is back. maybe have georgia trying to comfort and hype up r before and then in one of the games where r plays the full 90, r makes like a big game saving tackle and georgia is super proud and happy for r after (youâre like carrying the woso fics on this app rn so thank you!)
crucial touch II g.stanway
"babe i'll be lucky to even see the pitch this tournament, i'm the back ups backup and i know that. i knew it when i accepted the call up!" you smiled at your girlfriend who frowned back at you from where she stood at the end of your bed.
"but i'm just sayin maybe if ya just talk to sarina and make your case you could get a start!" georgia pushed, knocking your legs apart and crawling up the bed to sit herself between them looking down at you.
"are you telling me to go behind your best mates back to try and get a start over her? harsh." you whistled teasingly, panic flashing across your girlfriends face as she stammered out that wasn't what she meant.
"gee! baby relax, i'm only teasing." you laughed, sitting up and grabbing her hands to still her.
"i love you and i appreciate you going to bat for me but i promise i am just happy to be here. would minutes under the belt be amazing? of course. but is being in australia, training with the squad and being with some of my best friends and girlfriend every day also amazing? yes!" you squeezed her hands with a smile of assurance, frown still dented into her features.
"but you've had such a great season and moved to the european league baby and-" "no more buts, i'm not going out of my way to plead for minutes with sarina. i trust that she always knows whats best for the team, that was well proven in the euros and i felt so much pride even just watching from the stands." you'd torn your hamstring mid last season which had unfortunately meant you weren't fit for squad selection, but despite how hard it was at times to watch your friends and wish you were in their position you learnt a whole new set of valuable lessons.
"babe i promise i am okay." you continued when once again your girlfriend opened her mouth to argue, finally giving in with a sigh and a nod.
"georgia!" you laughed as she pushed you back down onto the bed and flopped her body on top of you. "m'tired baby, lets cuddle and have a nap." the girl patted your head as her own settled on your stomach and your hands threaded her hair tugging it out of the bun it once was.
"what happened to going to watch the sunset before dinner?" "well, it rises and sets every day doesn't it? i'll take ya tomorrow."
~
"did she just say its her knee?" you whispered to lotte who was sat beside you, eyes flashing with the same fear you knew was conveyed in your own as she nodded. "shit." you mumbled, biting your lip nervously as the medics rushed on toward keira.
your leg bounced anxiously as they called for a stretcher, your stomach falling as sarina gestured for laura to start warming up as one of the coaching staff hurried over to run her through the plays.
all of you on the bench sent smiles to keira as she was stretchered off and disappeared down the tunnel, the sub made official as laura ran on and everyone tried to shake off what happened.
"they could have given us a small break of time to reset, they're clearly shook up." you mumbled to lotte who hummed in agreement, both of you watching on with limbs locked tight in stress.
thankfully the girls scraped by taking the 1-0 win against denmark and you didn't think you'd ever held your breath as long as until that final whistle blew ending injury time and the game.
you walked in between ella and georgia as you did your lap, thanking the fans, but you could tell that despite the smiles on everyones faces nobody was thinking about the win and rather worrying for how keira was.
and in particular if the team would see yet another victim to that dreaded three letter curse.
~
despite keira thankfully not having done her acl, she was under forced rest and a careful rehab program, and wouldn't be playing in the next game against china.
knowing that your teammate was okay had eased the mounting tension within the team and after a bonding day at the local zoo everyone was in high spirits.
which was likely what lead to the following 6-1 domination over china a few days later, everyone in even better spirits that night which was filled with karaoke, dancing and cheese boards much to lottes delight.
things took a more serious turn two days later at training when laura took a rather abrupt tackle from millie and headbutted the goal post, winding up with a concussion and with keira still not cleared to play that was how you found yourself sat across from sarina in one of the hotel meeting rooms.
she informed you'd not only be getting your first minutes of the tournament but would be in the starting eleven in tomorrow nights game. you had to ask her how to repeat herself making the dutch woman laugh and congratulate you, making a point to say she'd noticed that despite not playing you had still played a very crucial role within the team lifting morale.
still slightly in disbelief and pinching yourself with a sharp hiss you exited the room, making a beeline right towards your girlfriend who was mid darts game with niamh, ella and lucy.
with a wordless shake of your head you grabbed her hand, ignoring all of her questions and your friends teasing remarks behind you as you dragged her away from the game, staying silent right until the two of you were back in your room.
"baby whats goin on? you're bein very weird has somethin happened?" georgia asked for the tenth time, taking a seat on the edge of your bed as you shook your head and paced back and forth.
"oi, sit down and speak to me love ya gonna wear a hole in the carpet." georgia grabbed your hoodie and pulled you to stand between her legs, hands on the small of your back holding you there.
"i'm starting tomorrow." you blurted out with wide eyes, georgias own bugging nearly out of her head as her grip on you tightened. "you what!" she gasped out as you nodded firmly. "yeah, coombsy's still not cleared and neither is kei." you shook your head in disbelief.
"baby! you're starting in the fuckin world cup!" the breath was stolen from you as your girlfriend lovingly slammed you down onto the bed and jumped on top of you, kissing all over your face and mumbling how proud she was as you couldn't help but grin.
"wait!" you pushed her off and sat bolt upright. "what if i get injured? or i let in a goal? or i cause a penalty? or-" all of the worse case scenarios flew through your head, slamming around and around like a pinball machine.
"hey hey, stop that." georgia frowned, grabbing your face in her hands and forcing you to look at her. "you won't. you are so so brilliant, and hardworking, and passionate. it doesn't matter if this is your first start in a world cup or another match for bayern love, you tackle it the exact same way you enter any game. with your whole heart and ya head screwed on right!" georgia gently squeezed your cheeks and placed a tender kiss against your lips as you exhaled and collapsed into her.
"i'm starting tomorrow." "you're starting tomorrow, and you are gonna smash it baby."
~
the day of the match itself you were still a nervous wreck. word had spread of your start and in small groups all of the girls came over to congratulate and hype you up.
and as much as you appreciated each and every single one of them all of their hope and praise was just adding onto your existing nerves, which your girlfriend seemed to pick up on as she gently shooed everyone away, tucking you into her side at breakfast and changing the subject.
she made sure to sit beside you on the bus and walked you around the stadium for the pitch check with your fingers interlocked tightly with hers, swinging your hands together and distracting you with kisses when she noticed your mind start to wander.
right before warm ups your phone rang and you lit up seeing it was leah, you'd played with her for years at arsenal before taking the plunge to germany when both frankfurt and bayern came knocking.
so stepping out of the room the blonde gave you a stern talking to about believing in yourself and making the most of the opportunity the situation had presented you no matter how it came about.
and with that in mind you reset your headspace and tuned in, georgia sending leah a quick text thanking her as whatever was said worked as you now seemed your confident self when walking out for the line up.
unlike last match against china the game against nigeria was anything but easy. they were a fast and agile side and came out aggressive, so you did your best as a team to meet them like that but after a brutal 90 minutes it was still deadlocked at 0-0.
mary had been putting in a shift, everyone had, and with lj earning a red card you were down to 10 when they announced there would be extra time as a break was called and everyone huddled together on the sidelines.
sarinas words ringing in your ears you sucked up how much your body ached and readied yourself to go again, vowing to leave absolutely everything on the pitch as if it was the last game you ever played.
your chance came in the 118th minute as you missed a crucial tackle and one of the strikers snuck past you. you knew from watching her throughout the game where she'd likely shoot from so you diverted tactics.
you knew it was a risk but you had to trust your gut like always and sprinting down the length of the field on the opposite side your legs burned and ached but you just used that to spur yourself on.
sure enough it was a risk that paid off as the striker slotted the ball past mary who watched in horror as it slipped beneath her thigh and she crashed to the ground.
but you were there without even a millisecond to spare, the ball clipping the edge of your studs as you slid your body across goal and tapped it out earning them a corner but preventing the winning goal.
you only breathed once the referee signaled for nigeria to take their corner, your head slumping against the ground as you took a moment to reset and marys gloved hands hauled you up off the ground.
"you are a fucking superstar for that one mate." she grabbed your face and kissed your forehead with a loud mwah, brushing the grass off of you as you grinned and everyone set in for the corner which would be the last play of extra time.
your hands falling to lucy's waist you felt millies grab yours from behind, a defensive tactic which was yet to fail you as once again a goal was prevented with mary jumping to tap it over the top of the goal as the whistle blew yet again signalling the game would go to penalties.
you watched with baited breath, squished in between beth and millie as each kick was taken. you winced as your girlfriend missed, watching her face fall but sending her a reassuring nod and mouthing that you loved her.
beth, rach and chloe were next all sinking their kicks as chloes hit the back of the net with record speed and the stadium erupted into cheers, you'd done it and you lived to see another day, you'd won.
you raced right over to your girlfriend amid the celebrations who had the same idea, jumping onto her and wrapping your legs round her waist, both of you forgetting you'd just played over 120 minutes as her legs buckled and the two of you crashed to the ground.
"i am so so so fucking proud of ya!" georgia beamed, pressing her forehead against yours as you lay on the grass tangled up with one another. you were well aware of your surroundings but in her arms and by her side everything else slipped away, the two of you lost in one anothers eyes which shone with pride.
"can i kiss you?"
your girlfriend seemed taken aback by the question and your eyes widening you went to stand but your body locked up in surprise as her hand balled your jersey and tugged your lips to meet hers, neither one of you caring for a single moment what anyone thought.
in that triumphant moment all you had eyes for was each another.

this may be a strange request so no need to have to do it aha, but can you write a Georgia stanway x reader where Georgia does a header with England and scores but after heading it she gets really dizzy and faints and reader is very worried as Georgia is unconscious and has to be stretched off etc? you can add more detail as Iâm not really sure but just something like that ? Sorry if itâs weird, you donât have to do it, just a suggestion x
Georgia Stanway x Lionesses!Reader
Hard Header
In which Georgia Stanway passes out from a header and reader gets to take her home to take care of her.
TW: Concussion, passing out.
Thank you for the request, its not weird and feel free to ask more.
Georgia Stanway. Your best friend, the girl that was there for you through thick and thin, the one you grew up with, the girl that was there for you when you got your first lionesses call up. Georgia Stanway, the girl you loved. Was playing against the Netherlands with you. Both in the midfield.Â
A corner kick came and you watched as the ball flew towards Georgia and she jumped to get it. As her head connected with the ball your heart almost stopped as it flew towards the net the keeper dived for it but missed they missed and she had just scored a goal.Â
You all celebrated, but not Georgia. You were the first one to notice how she didnât cheer or run around. She stood still looking at the ground, before she collapsed. By that time you were almost by her side as you had realised something was wrong the moment she didnât move.Â
You began to shout for the medics as Georgia was laying still on the ground, not moving.Â
After a few minutes you heard her groan and open her eyes. By then the medics had told you and Sarina that she would need to be subbed off and checked for concussion and other injuries.Â
As Georgia began to get stretched off she was still not quite conscious and you needed to be with her, she was your best friend after all. And Sarina understood, so she subbed both you and Georgia off and you followed her to the medical room.
After a few tests it was clear that she had a concussion and would need to rest for a few weeks to recover. She would also have to live with someone to monitor that she didnât exhaust herself and make sure she didnât lose consciousness again.Â
You immediately offered for her to live with you so you could take care of her. It was then decided that you could go home after the match was finished and that she would stay in bed for at least a day and a week without screens for her head to rest.Â
When Georgia finally became fully aware of her surroundings the two of you were in the car back to your house. She had been conscious before but not fully aware.Â
âLove, how are you feeling?â you asked her, the terms of endearment quite normal for the two of you. âMy head hurtsâ Georgia groaned and you softly smiled towards her. âYeah I understand that, you got quite a concussion thereâ you said softly, not wanting to speak too loudly and cause her more pain. âDid I atleast score?â Of course she would ask that, it was more important than her health that they won.Â
âYes you did love, we won the gameâ you replied smiling.Â
The rest of the car ride home was quiet. At your house you cooked her some food before you helped her in the bed.Â
âStay with me, pleaseâ Georgia asked as you were about to leave her in the guest bedroom to rest. âOkay love, let me just get changedâ you said and went to get some comfier clothes. You then came under the covers of the bed and let her cuddle up against you. As she was on the verge of sleeping she quietly murmured âI love youâ and your heart almost cracked with love.
âI love you tooâ you whispered back. This was something you had to talk about in the morning.

i think 6x19 "the choice" is the closest house md comes to genuinely giving us all the pieces about house/wilson and i'm going to explain why (delusional)
the a plot is an extremely in-denial gay man collapsing at the altar with his almost-wife. we discover over the course of the episode that he used to have a "roommate" he had sex with for years who clearly still has feelings for him, and his symptoms were caused by the brain damage he gave himself in conversion therapy. it's an unusually real, sad ending, where the fiancee tells him to figure himself out and leaves as he begs her to stay and insists he's straight for real. no real closure beyond that
now, many episodes of house have the b plot (either the team's personal drama or a clinic patient) connect thematically with the a plot, either to jog house's brain blasts or just to form a cohesive narrative. so what's the b plot this episode? wilson's relationship with sam is getting more serious and he wants to distract house. house starts the episode waking up in a neighbor kid's bed bc he got so drunk he was sleepwalking. house has a long, explicit history of self-medicating when he's in emotional distress. house goes out three times with his fellows and all three serve to tie him back to wilson:
he goes out with taub and his wife. this is to highlight the strained awkwardness of a straight relationship, and esp when the guy has a history of infidelity (at least one of wilson's marriages dissolved due to him cheating, and taub is already cheating on rachel again)
he goes out with thirteen to a lesbian bar. this is connecting them as both bisexual, and they talk about gaydar and then thirteen talks about how it's cruel that the patient is lying to his fiancee about his sexuality bc honesty is the most important thing, including honesty to one's self. this is easily applicable to house needing to admit his feelings for wilson. (extremely delusional) the lesbian bar is called "foxhole" and the saying "there are no atheists in the foxhole" specifically refers to situations where one has no choice but to give in to faith. so. also the gay patient in s2 has a parasite he got from foxes
he goes out with chase and foreman and they perform karaoke. specifically they sing "midnight train to georgia" and they don't change the pronouns?? so chase is singing lead about another man while foreman and house back him up?? it's about following a man across the country bc you would rather give up your entire life than lose him (house does this at the end of s8). one of the outro lines (not in the episode, but i've listened to the song a lot) is "my man, his girl" and like. c'mon
there's a great moment where the patient is denying he's gay and he says "i'm as straight as either of you" to house and thirteen, who makes a face in the background. let's be so for real here
the episode ends with cuddy asking if house wants to go out, and he asks if wilson put her up to this too. she denies it and says lucas is working late so she's free and they can be friends. house says friends is the last thing he wants to be (we know). she leaves, and he rubs his leg, almost reaches for ibuprofen, and grabs whiskey instead as the ep ends. again, bookended on self-medicating, and we know his leg hurts worse during emotional painâ he got an mri when stacy left in s2 for the same reason. when house gets his big epiphany he says "wisdom is knowing the difference between what you can change and what you were born with" and he says this while having an argument with wilson!
i choose to believe at least some of this was intentional on the part of the writer bc he also wrote "lines in the sand" which is one of the most empathetic episodes in general and also gives us a lot of patient-house connections. i'm well aware this reads like pepe silvia qanon for gay people

Lucifer and Alastor x Reader
Prompt via ask from @nyx91
Reader w/ health issue involving heart
________________________________________________
"She should get up and walk. Some fresh air might do her good." Lucifer suggests.
"Walking is what made her get so dizzy that she collapsed, you ass." Alastor tells him; he is carefully laying you down on the couch in the lobby of the Hazbin Hotel.
"I just thought it might help!" Lucifer is defensive. "I don't know... I've never been sick! Lilith's never been sick...Hell, Charlie was never sick!"
"Tough love is hardly the balm she needs..." Alastor is knelt by the couch beside you, he brushes the bangs from your eyes, tucking the hair back. "And, she's not sick... she has a heart condition. She just had an attack. She told us about it when she first arrived; you don't recall?"
"I don't know...I thought it was something that was supposed to make finding redemption harder for her...like, she couldn't feel love or...her heart was two sizes too small, or-"
"You thought she was The Grinch?" Alastor hissed at him, adjusting the pillows underneath your head now. Alastor notices you are clenching your hands; that you are pale and have a slick sheen of sweat across your face and forehead.
"Make yourself useful and come over here. Fresh air isn't a bad idea; fan her with your wings." Alastor tells Lucifer.
Lucifer quickly brings his wings out, stepping back, he creates a wafting wind that is cool against your heated skin and somehow eases the tightness in your chest.
"Is she running a fever!? We could shock her system...dunk her in ice water. Or do we need leeches?" Lucifer wondered, still waving his wings.
"Luci, if I'm ever ailing and there's only you to take care of me...stay the fuck away from me." Alastor growled.
"She's in pain."
Alastor thinks of something, and he asks you, "Do you take medication, dear? Would it help now?" You nod, but the thought of having to make it up the stairs to your hotel room is too overwhelming. Alastor nods back, understanding the worried look in your eyes. "I can fetch it for you. If you don't mind, of course." You tell him in what room, where it is and he stands up.
"Don't try to help while I'm gone. Just keep doing that." Alastor directed him, quickly disappearing into shadow.
Lucifer rolled his eyes, still moving his wings and folding his arms.
He's grumbling but you manage to catch, "....bossy motherfucker..."
Alastor is back right away; finding just what you needed. He manifests a glass of water for you, conjuring it smoothly with a snap of his fingers and a puff of green. He hands everything to you.Â
"I'm really not good with this sort of...stuff." Lucifer confesses, feeling awkward with not having helped much.
"Why would you be?" Alastor asked him and you think the next thing he says will be coated in snark but, "You've never had ailments...neither did Lilith. Charlie is Hellborn. You've never had to really think about it... I, myself, was often sick as a child. I know what something like this feels like..."
After awhile, you start to feel a little bit better. Your chest isn't as tight and the pain is subsiding. You're no longer pale or sweating so you tell Lucifer that he's ok to stop fanning you now.
"Are you hungry? Or do you need anything else?" Alastor asks you, noting that you are improving. You tell them no... you're still dizzy, disoriented and feeling nauseous...but, you'd appreciate their company.
Lucifer smiles, folding his wings away he comes to sit beside the couch next to Alastor. "That I can do. You know, I've got loads of stories... there's one where I went down to Georgia, and I was looking for a soul to steal..."
Alastor rolls his eyes.
You know this one, of course, but Lucifer is happy to tell it and you're glad for the distraction...and the companionship.

In November, voters in at least 10 states will vote on ballot initiatives seeking to enshrine abortion rights in their state constitutions. Voters nationwide and in battleground states consider abortion to be one of the most important issues in this election.  Â
For this and other reasons, it is critical that the public be informed about the issue. Here are five myths about abortion in America, compared to the reality.  Â
MYTH #1: Many women are having abortions in the third trimester of pregnancy, including in the ninth month or later. Â
REALITY: The vast majority of abortions (93%) occur in the first trimester of pregnancy, according to the Center for Disease Control (CDC). So-called âlate-term abortionsâ performed at or after 21 weeks of pregnancy are extremely uncommon and represent less than 1% of all abortions in the U.S. They generally occur because of the discovery of a fatal condition affecting the fetus or serious risks to the life or health of the mother. The claim that abortions happen âmoments before birthâ or even âafter birthâ is false. In no state is it legal to kill a baby after it has been born.  Â
MYTH #2: The overturning of Roe v. Wade has led to fewer abortions.Â
REALITY: The number of abortions that occurred in the U.S. increased by 11% in 2023, the first full year since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, compared with 2020 levels. This increase was driven primarily by the greater availability of medication abortion pills and privately financed funds that supported women seeking abortions. Â
MYTH #3: Because abortion totals have not declined, women cannot have been harmed by abortion bans and restrictions.Â
REALITY: Although many women living in states with abortion bans have been able to circumvent those bans by traveling to another state or by obtaining medication abortion pills using telehealth and the mail, others have not been so lucky. So even though abortion rates have increased, on balance, itâs still the case that many women who wanted abortions have been unable to get them.Â
In addition, abortion restrictions are putting womenâs lives and health at risk. The same procedures used for terminating unintended pregnancies are also essential for addressing a number of other situations, including miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, and severe fetal abnormalities. Â
Federal authorities have documented dozens of cases where pregnant women have been refused emergency medical treatment because doctors in ban states fear criminal prosecution. This has resulted in women having miscarriages in public restrooms, bleeding out in their cars, or experiencing delays in receiving care that have led them to develop infections or sustain bodily harm. Â
Already, a woman in Georgia named Amber Thurman has died from infection after doctors delayed performing a routine procedure out of fear of criminal liability under the stateâs abortion ban. The stateâs maternal mortality review committee called Thurmanâs death âpreventableâ and said the delay in care had a âlargeâ impact in causing her death. Other similarly tragic stories are sure to emerge once state review committees begin to publicize their findings, which operate with a lag. Â
MYTH #4: Depending on who is elected, there will be a federal law either banning or legalizing abortion nationwide.
REALITY: It is highly unlikely the election will change the composition of Congress enough to give either party sufficient votes to pass a federal law either banning or legalizing abortion nationwide.
Vice President Harris has consistently supported abortion rights over the course of her political career. As the Democratic presidential nominee, Harris has said she supports legislation that would restore the protections established by Roe v. Wade. She has not answered the question about whether she opposes any restrictions on abortion. Under Roe v. Wade, states could only restrict abortion after the point of fetal viability, or about 22 weeks of pregnancy, except in cases where abortions were necessary to protect the life or health of the pregnant person.
Former President Trumpâs position on a national abortion ban has wavered significantly over time. As president, Trump supported a 2018 bill that would have banned abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy nationwide. Earlier this year, Trump signaled support for a 16-week and then a 15-week abortion ban. His current position is that the legality of abortion should be left to the states. During the presidential debate against Vice President Harris, Trump declined to say whether he would veto a national ban if he were reelected.
To enact legislation that would protect or ban abortion nationwide, the party that won the presidency would also need to secure majorities in both the House and Senate. All three are shaping up to be tight races. Because it is highly unlikely either party will secure sufficient support in this election, including the 60 votes needed to overcome the Senate filibuster, neither will be able to pass a federal law codifying abortion policy nationwide. This means those in favor of protecting reproductive rights need to do so through the kind of measures that will be on the ballot in many states.Â
MYTH #5: Women living in states where abortion is legal will not be affected by the outcome of the 2024 election.
REALITY: Federal regulation, largely determined by executive agencies operating under the authority of the president, plays a major role in determining access to abortion.
In recent years, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has made multiple revisions to its policy toward mifepristone (one of the two drugs used in medication abortion) that have made medication abortion far more accessible. These pills are now widely used, accounting for nearly two-thirds of all abortions nationwide.
If Trump were reelected, he could limit the use of these abortion pills by appointing a new head of the FDA or Health and Human Services (HHS) who could reverse the FDAâs revised policies toward mifepristone or override the agencyâs approval of the drug completely.
Trump could also direct the Department of Justice (DOJ) to enforce a 151-year-old federal law known as the Comstock Act that bans the shipment of abortion-related materials. In 2022, the DOJ under the Biden-Harris administration issued a legal opinion stating that the Comstock Act does not prohibit the mailing of abortion drugs even to recipients in states where abortion is banned. Trump could direct the DOJ to reverse this position to instead outlaw and prosecute the interstate shipment of abortion pills, or other materials related to abortion.
The Heritage Foundation, as part of its Project 2025 initiative, has called for a potential future Trump administration to end medication abortion and prosecute those who ship and transport abortion pills and supplies using these strategies. As Jonathan Mitchell, an anti-abortion advocate and key architect of Project 2025, said to the New York Times, âWe donât need a federal ban when we have Comstock on the books.â Trump has sought to distance himself from the Project 2025 plan whose authors include many former members of his administration.
When asked about these issues during a news conference at Mar-a-Lago in August, Trump said he was receptive to using his authority as president to revoke access to abortion pills. A couple of weeks later, Trump said that he âgenerally speaking would notâ use the Comstock Act to outlaw the shipment of abortion pills.

Chapter 2: Toccoa, Georgia (The Prophecy)âA Band of Brothers Fanfic
A/N: I am so so so so SO sorry this is out late. This past week was super hectic! I hope that you really enjoy the chapter. I did my best to make it my own and different from other beginnings of BoB that I've seen, so you'll have to let me know what you think! Also, as a side noteâI did, in fact, live in Toccoa area for 13 weeks a couple years back, so I actually do love that place!
Winnie could say that she had never been to Toccoa Georgia for any reason in her short lifetime and would probably have no desire to ever return. Though there wasnât any snow on the ground here, it was just as gloomy as the rest of Georgia was in the winter months. Everywhere she looked, there were men in uniforms and people bustling towards the wartime factories that had popped up. Â
Her arrival at Camp Toccoa was a rather quiet affair, and so there she sat in a wooden chair inside a small waiting area. Occasionally, Winnie glanced over at the precipitation building on the windows. When she was a kid, she had long periods of waiting like this oneâwhere her father was in jail or at some bar and she would just wait for him to come back home.Â
It would usually rainâand considering how the weather in Georgia changed as quickly as a summer breeze, Winnie had taken to counting droplets of water as a way to keep her focus on something that she could control.Â
The simple fact of the matter was that Winnie had precious little control over a lot of the circumstances in her life. But the things that she did have control over, she kept those things close to her chest; clung to them like they were her most precious possessions and no one would ever come close enough to take that freedom of control away from her again.Â
She clicked her heeled shoes together exactly once, eyes straying to the scuff marks on her simple church shoes. She wondered how her brothers were all faring in their training at the moment. If they were all coping with the reality of what war would beâif they were prepared to go and be on their own.Â
Richie wasnât the one she was worried about. He was two years younger than her and was always rather serious. He worked harder than anyone else that she knew and wasnât one to get distracted by a pretty face or lofty promises. Any day now, heâd be shipping out to go to the Pacific as a Marine and it made her truthfully want to follow him all the way down there and have his back with a gun herself. Â
They were Allens. And they trusted themselves and one another. No one else outside of their circle of siblings had proven to be someone that they would trust their lives with. But Winnie knew that they would never allow a doctorâand a female one, at thatâto go down to the Pacific and be a part of the carnage and horrors there.Â
Robbie was in the same boat, proverbially speaking of course, as Richie. Set to go to the Pacific in a few weeks. He was always so quiet and watchful. Winnie hoped that it would serve him well to be on his guard and pick up on the things that the other soldiers wouldn't notice. They had yelled a lot back and forth before he had enlistedâshe had told him to finish his degree and go into the JAG-Corp. He had told her to go to hellâwhich he had tearfully apologized for when she dropped him off at the train station. Â
Winnie stretched out her fingers over her lap, letting out a breath. It had been nearly thirty minutes of waiting to be allowed to see the Colonelâand this was just for him to review her application to join the Paratroopers as a Doctor and training officer for his medics. She wished that the level of urgency the war truly had would transfer over to her wait time.Â
Because if she needed to haul everything back to Buford, Winnie would almost certainly rather pick up and move to the Carolinas and try to sign up for a different branch of the military that would, in fact, utilize her. She hated being idleâhated being alone, even more than that. Â
The younger three boys were the ones that needed supervisionâneeded all the prayers of the good congregation of Bufordâs Christian Non-Denominational Church. Nathan was the first problem in Winnieâs pleas to God. That boy had been raised wolf-wild by herself and Richie and Robbie. They hadnât been much, but they had had each other. He was always picking a fight with an older boyâand she could only hope that this whole army experience was going to straighten him out.  Â
Then there was Joshua, also set to end up in the Pacific as a medic. That had granted her a degree of peace, knowing that his evenings helping her study for school were going to come in handy where he was going. It might, in fact, just be the thing that ends up saving his life. Â
But Charlie? Charlie was, in every sense of the word, hers. She had raised him from the time of his infancy and so to Winnie Allen, Charlie was her child. Currently, he was in Texas and Winnie had never been more grateful for the fact that the Air Force programs were long.  She would take those 9 months like a sacred gift from God that he wouldnât be anywhere near the fightingâat least for a short while.Â
And then there was her. Just herâwith no idea where sheâd end up, with no clue what her side of the war would entail. Which of course, would be typical of her life thus far.Â
Just then, the door opened and a man stepped inside, clipboard in hand. âDr. Allen?âÂ
âThatâd be me,â Winnie said, rising to her feet.Â
The man piqued an eyebrow, but said nothing about the fact that she was a woman. He just let out a weary sigh and gestured towards the door with his head. âIf youâd follow me, maâam.âÂ
Of course, a moment ago she was Doctor, and now she was maâam. God, she loathed the South. Â
Winnie obliged, following after the man with quick steps. As they crossed out of the building and onto a dirt path, Winnie caught sight of some of the traineesâsome of them in the field and doing jumping jacks in the field, some of them running towards a trail through the trees. There werenât too many of them at the moment, but that didnât deter Winnie in any way.Â
âAre these the officers that are in training?â Winnie questioned, speeding up her stride to match the man in front of her.Â
He let out an annoyed breath. âYou catch on quick. Sink will like that. Though I canât account for how heâll feel about a woman applying to train our medics.âÂ
âIâm a trauma surgeon and doctor. I think my credentials speak for themselves,â Winnie retorted dryly.Â
No response from the officer this time, just a huff of air as he came to a stop in front of one of the buildings on the camp. âWait here, please.âÂ
Winnie just crossed her arms and waited patiently, inhaling the cool air. Not even thirty seconds later, the man had returned and gestured for her to enter the room. Winnie was grateful for the slight reprieve from the cold air as she entered the room. And there, sitting in a chair and smoking a cigar, was Colonel Sink.Â
âIf youâd please take a seat, Doctor Allen,â he gestured at the seat across from his desk with his cigar. Usually quick to follow orders, Winnie slid into the seat, looking at Colonel Sink expectantly. It was another moment of silence before Colonel Sink set down his cigar and fully looked at her. âIâll be honest, we donât see too many female doctors come through the military.âÂ
âI expect youâd see more nurses, sir.âÂ
âDamn right, we do,â Sink stated. âThis whole warâunpleasant business, not really meant for women.âÂ
âIf I can speak freely, sir?âÂ
âIâd be appreciative of the honesty, if you did.âÂ
âYouâre right, itâs unpleasant. But those women are still going to bury husbands, sons, brothers, and fathers. It affects them just as much as it does the men.âÂ
âI canât say I disagree. Your point?âÂ
âIâm not a married woman. Iâm a trauma surgeon and head of the trauma department in Buford General. I was the top of my class and as it so happens, I donât have any children or brothersâtheyâre all off in training to fight in this war. I donât particularly like sitting on my ass or fancy myself a factory worker. But I can help you train damn good medics, sir.âÂ
Sink stared at her for a long time. His gaze reminded her a lot of her mentorâs, from back in college. He was always trying to figure out her angles too. Trying to figure out if she was as good as she claimed to be.Â
âIâll be honest with you, Allen. Weâve got hundredsâthousandsâof men coming in the next few months to train to be paratroopers. Now I want them to be the best of the best. And if I want them to survive more than five minutes over there, then that means I also need the best of the best doctors to train my medics. So Iâll concede to your point. Your application was goodâIâm a self-made man myself and I respect that work.âÂ
âSir?âÂ
âBut Iâll also be honest with you. This isnât going to be pretty. Itâs going to be bloody and long and tiring. This isnât the type of place where you can just escape from whatever life you donât want to live. At some point, you might be elbows deep in some manâs guts and I need someone unflinching.âÂ
âOctober 27th.âÂ
âPardon?âÂ
Winnie shifted in her seat, leaning forward. âOctober 27th, a man and his two daughters are brought into Buford General. Automobile accident. The man flung his arm in front of his daughter sitting in the passenger seat. His arm was hanging by a few strands of muscles and he was going to bleed out. Now the daughter in the passenger seat got impaled by a fence postâit went straight through her stomach. The daughter in the back was flung through the car and landed 15 feet ahead.âÂ
âThatâs both gruesome and tragic.  Your point being?âÂ
âI was the surgeon on call that night. I triaged. I assessed. I delegated. The father lost his arm but he kept his life. The daughter who flew through the car wasnât going to make it. She was 11. We were short-handed and I had to tell the nurse assisting me that the little girl wasnât going to make it and that she needed to focus on the other one. So she did. We lost the oneâbut she was mostly gone by the time she had arrived,â Winnie stated. âMy point here is that I can give your men skills that they wonât get anywhere otherwise. Real life experience teaching practical application of the skills. Triaging, assessing, not hesitating in doing the work and saving lives.âÂ
Sink leaned forward in his seat. âYouâd be hard on them?âÂ
âIâd be brutal. Because that is exactly what they are going to face out there.âÂ
âYou be the hard-ass doctor that trains my medics, then. But if youâre gonna be here, then youâre gonna train like my men train.âÂ
âIâm not a fragile southern belle like Melanie Hamilton, sir.âÂ
âNo, I imagine youâre not. Iâll give you two nurses to assist with actual injuries on baseâand based on performance, you and them might just end up traveling with us wherever we end up.âÂ
âSir?âÂ
âWhat?âÂ
âThank you for letting me advocate my case. I wonât let you down.âÂ
âYou sure as hell better not. Or lots of good men are going to die and thatâs going to be on your shoulders.âÂ
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Within the first hour of being there, Winnie had selected her nurses from the pile of applications. It hadnât been that hard of a choice to begin withâsome were just practical eliminations, and the rest were a careful read-through of letters they had sent in along with the application. Â
Reba Garrett and Eileen Gray were the two chosen candidates that she had landed on. Reba was from New England and had been working as a nurse for well over five years now, placing her as one of the older and more experienced women applying for the position. But it wasnât her experience that attracted Winnieâs attentionâit was the letter, and the way in which she described wanting to do some real good in the war and that started with saving lives rather than ending them.Â
That sounded exactly like the type of person that Winnie wanted to have on her side. Â
Eileen, on the other hand, was from Savannah, Georgia. While her experience time of only two years wasnât quite as well-established as Rebaâs was, it was the picture that she had included of her brother that caught Winnieâs attention. Eileenâs brother had been stationed in Pearl and he had been one of the many men to be immortalized under the ocean there.Â
That gave her motivation, it gave her righteous angerâand in Winnieâs eyes, it was exactly the sort of thing that God would doâplace Eileen in her path to ensure that justice was seen.Â
So Winnie penned her first letters to the two women that would soon be joining her here in Toccoa. And then she took those resumes straight to Colonel Sinkâwho wholeheartedly approved of the decision, though it was made in haste. Just another reason for him to see her as a capable doctorâas someone he could trust.Â
And in two weeks time, Eileen Gray and Reba Garrett would be joining her at Camp Toccoa. In the meantime though, Winnieâs own training was set to begin. And sheâd be damned if she let herself be torn down by any manâher superior officer or not. She was determined to earn her place amongst the men hereâand earn their respect. Consequences be damned.Â
Lightning On My Lips (Every Time You Kiss Me)
7 - Throw Me A Line (Feels Like I'm Drowning)
Pairing: Tyler Owens x OFC Georgia Tennley
Rating: Explicit (MDNI!)
Warnings: swearing of course, mutual pining, lots of flirting, mentions of Georgia's injuries and meds for those
A/N: This one got long when I was originally writing it and I had to stop myself.
Playlist
Georgia awoke the next morning, less dizzy, but her neck was throbbing. She took a deep breath as she sat up from under the sheets that Tyler had draped over them both at some point during the night. He was still quietly snoozing and he was right. Her neck hurt like hell. She glanced around for the bag that the doctor had sent her away with. Antibiotics for a few days to be on the safe side, and pain meds, which were really just max strength ibuprofen. More for the muscle aches and swelling than anything else. She slipped out from underneath the covers and went over to the little fridge, which had Tyler and her bags on top. She rummaged through hers, finding a bottle of water and the bag of medication. She read the labels on both, just to be sure she was taking the right amount and then downed almost the whole water bottle trying to swallow them. When she glanced back at the bed, she noticed Tylerâs eyes were open but he hadn't sat up yet. He had a wide grin across his lips as he watched her.
âYou okay?â He asked, voice wonderfully raspy and deep with sleep. It sent a shiver down her spine as she nodded at him. He elected to sit up. His eyes traveled up and down her body, following every curve and dip, then focusing on her beautiful facial features. Her cute nose, full lips, and the soft curve of her jawline that he knew fit perfectly in his hands made him tilt his head slightly and just stare. He did this for several minutes before clearing his throat and pushing the covers down. He padded over to her and moved her hair over so he could check the stitches again. They were clean and the redness that had been prevalent on her neck was less so. âLooks better this morning. How do they feel?â
She would be lying if she said she hadnât been checking him out too. She took a moment before she replied, admiring his rugged frame, all taut muscle and tanned skin. She knew his egotistical ass worked out in the sun shirtless and she had absolutely no problem with that whatsoever.
âMy neck hurts like a bitch. My head is okay.â She said quietly, as Tyler checked on the stitches on her head. They both got dressed and she saw Tyler rapidly texting on his phone once he was ready. She was a bit slower, as she was still sore. Heâd followed her into the bathroom.
âHey, uh, Iâve gotta meet the crew. Thereâs some pretty good numbers coming in from cells near Stillwater, and we wanna catch whatever it throws. I can bring you to Kasey and Cory if you want?â His hand met the small of her back as she glanced in the bathroom mirror.Â
âCan I stay with you?â Georgia asked, turning to face him. A wide smile appeared, making the corners of his eyes wrinkle. He leaned down to press a kiss to her lips.
âI was hoping youâd ask that.â He said and he helped her with her bag as they headed to his truck.
đȘâïžđȘ
Her truck had been towed to a mechanic just outside of Pawhuska, Oklahoma. Tyler had talked to him, asking if the truck could stay while Georgia rested and heâd agreed. Tyler had given him a little bit of cash to keep the truck there and he shot him a text, asking how much it would be to fix it. The mechanic called him instead of texting.
âHey, is this Tyler?âÂ
âYessir, it is. How are ya today?â Tyler asked, as Georgia glanced out the window.
âHey, so I havenât had a chance to completely assess the truck but I'd estimate at least a few thousand in parts and another couple thousand or so for the labor...âÂ
âAh, shit. Okay. Let me talk to her and Iâll call ya right back, if thatâs okay?â Tyler said and Georgia perked up. She tilted her head as he hung up the phone. His gaze drifted from the road to her and then he decided itâd be best to pull over. He put his truck in park and shifted to face her.
âYour truck.â He said and she shook her head.
âI donât even want to fuckinâ know.â She said, anger thick in her tone. He reached for her hand and she felt tears well in her eyes.
âDarlinâ Iâm sorry. I know you love that truck. It can be fixed...itâs just gonna be a bit expensive.â He explained and she nodded. He knew she wouldnât let him pay for it, even though he absolutely would, and he had the money in a savings account to do so. Sheâd actually kill him if he did that.Â
âYeah...Iâll just have it towed home and it can sit until I can do something...I have to tell Kasey.â She said, pulling her phone out. She hoped that she would pick up. Tyler sat back and waited on her before driving away, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel.
âHey! How are you feeling? Are you still with Tyler?â Kasey said over the line, happy to hear from Georgia.
âYeah. Iâm okay. How are you guys?â Georgia asked.
âWeâre okay. A little traumatized but okay.â
âThatâs good, I think. So...I have some bad news...I can't afford to fix the truck right now Kase, I'm sorry. I'm gonna have it towed home and I can ask my sister's husband to get around to it at some point. We're dead in the water for chasing...â Georgia explained and Tylerâs eyes widened and he turned to face her again.
âAre we though?â Kasey asked and Georgia could hear the smirk that was forming. She knew what she wanted to ask.
âOh no, no. I'm not doing that.â Georgia said, eyes flicking to Tyler.
âOh come on. Just ask him.â Kasey said.
âI won't.â Georgia affirmed.
âUgh, come on, Georgia. Just ask him.âÂ
âAsk him what?â Tyler said, overhearing Kaseyâs words through the phone.
âNothing.â She said, eyes locked on him.
âNot nothing! Ask!â Cory yelled through the phone.
âOh my god, fine. They want me to ask if we can tag along with your team...â Georgia said and Tylerâs eyes lit up. Thatâs exactly what he had been thinking and hoping.
âWhatever you want.â Tyler said softly, his hand wrapping around her forearm in a comforting gesture. While she wanted to focus on his words, the veins on his hand were drawing her brain in another direction as he spoke again. âWhatever you need, Gee. I can help fix your truck too. Weâd love to have yâall ride along with us.â Tyler said loud enough for Kasey and Cory to hear.
âWoo-hoo!!â The other ladies yelled and jumped up and down, their whooping heard clear through the line. Georgia shook her head as they celebrated.
âOkay bye. Text me where you guys are and weâll come get you.â Georgia said to them and then hung up the phone.
âTyler...I can't ask you for...â Georgia started but he silenced her with a kiss.
âNo need to ask. It's a done deal . You want slow . I want more . I can spend more time with you but we can take it as slow as you wanna go. I just want time with you, Gee .â Tyler said, running his knuckles across her cheek and pulling her in for yet another kiss. He peppered her cheeks and her forehead with them and then sat back in his seat, putting the drive back in drive and pulling back onto the dirt road.Â
âYou sly dog.â Georgia said with a shake of her head and a smirk. She crossed her arms and straightened up in her seat as they headed toward where his crew had been stationed.
âBelieve that's called a fox, darlinâ, and I'm dumb like one, didn't ya know?â He said, shooting a confident grin her way.
đȘâïžđȘ
Tyler had called the mechanic back and arranged picking up the truck later that day.
âWhoâs going to tow it?â Georgia asked, as they arrived where his crew were stationed.Â
âI will. Theyâre predictinâ some storms goinâ through the Stillwater area, so we were headinâ that way anyway. Iâve got a friend thatâs droppinâ a car trailer for me.â Tyler explained as Boone walked up, throwing his bag in the backseat of Tylerâs truck. He smiled and stepped over to hug Georgia. She smiled and Boone led her over to the rest of the crew, and while sheâd been introduced to them previously, Boone wanted to make sure Georgia was well acquainted with everyone. She glanced back at Tyler, who was on the phone again and he smiled at her as Boone took her away.
âSo, this is Lily. Sheâs our drone operator. She gets some of our coolest footage for the Youtube.â Boone said and Lily smiled wide and stood to give Georgia a gentle hug. Georgia smiled and hugged her back.
âAnd then, this is Dani. Sheâs a mechanic and is in charge of merch sales and co-navigation.â Boone said and Dani looked up at Georgia, giving her a small wave and a cheerful smile as she continued going through a box of shirts, checking sizes.
âDexter, our science guy, who points us in the right direction of which storms to chase.â Boone said, pointing to Dexter, who also smiled and reached out to shake Georgiaâs hand.Â
âAnd then of course, weâve got Ben, who's tagging along. Heâs from England and heâs doing a story on American storm chasinâ.â Boone explained and Ben also shook Georgiaâs hand and smiled nervously at her.Â
âAnd then thereâs me, and you know me already , so, are you okay, by the way? That got a lilâ crazy back there.â Boone asked and Georgia nodded and smiled at him.Â
âIâm okay, Boone. Tylerâs a good nurse.â She said and the crew all had a good laugh at her comment, just as Tyler sauntered up. He smoothed his hand over Georgiaâs hair, his hand stopping at the back of her neck, fingers wrapping around the base. She sucked in a sharp breath that she hoped no one noticed. Tyler wanted to lean down and kiss her, but he figured that might be alarming for everyone at the moment so he just let his lips touch the top of her head. Boone smirked and sat back next to Lily, helping her with their drone, Cairo.
A little bit of time went by before everyone heard a diesel engine and the metallic clanging of a trailer pulling into the parking lot. A big silver Chevrolet dually pulled up, stopped, and a guy with untied work boots, a backwards facing ball cap, and dirty jeans and a t-shirt stepped out of the truck. Tyler jogged over to meet him and shook his hand, pulling him in for a bro-hug. He went to grab his truck and pulled it up next to the silver pickup. He deftly unhooked the trailer from his friendâs truck and they swapped positions, Tyler hooking it to his hitch. He thanked his friend, put some cash in the guyâs hand, and he was off. Tyler came back over and smiled at Georgia.
âEasy as pie. Weâll go grab your truck and meet everyone down near Stillwater in a few hours. Should be just in time to check out those cells you were trackinâ, Dex.â Tyler said and everyone was in agreement. Georgia began heading toward the convenience store just across the parking lot and Tyler stopped her.
âOh, Ty...stay. Iâve taken enough of your time away from your crew. Iâm just grabbing a snack. Be right back. Iâll be fine.â She said and he nodded. When he walked back over to his crew, Dani piped up.
âThat the girl that got away, lover boy ?â She mused and everyone had a good chuckle about it. Tyler glanced down, a little embarrassed, but he knew his friends had his best interest at heart and they were making light of it because they could see he really cared for her. He hated to watch her go , but damn if he didnât love watching her walk away.
đȘâïžđȘ
Tylerâs crew headed toward Stillwater a little after lunch and Georgia found herself in the passenger seat of his truck again, trying to get a little bit of rest as he drove to Pawhuska to pick up her truck. It was a little over an hour there and an hour or so down to Stillwater. Sheâd called her sister and told her what had happened and her sister was very concerned. She could only imagine what sheâd walk into when she got home.
Tyler had his Spotify on super low volume, his own curated country mix, just for a little background noise but as Georgia drifted in and out of sleep, it was the comforting hum of the diesel engine and the smell of his cologne that lulled her there. He preferred a rustic, leather scent to anything else. No bergamot, citrus, or clean oceanic scents for him. He always smelled good, even when he was sweaty or dirty. Maybe that was just Georgia being extremely attracted to him in particular though, because hormones and pheromones and all that biological crap that went with it. Or maybe he just smelled good all the time.
From where they were just north of Vinita, Oklahoma, it had taken about an hour and a half to get to Pawhuska. When they pulled up to the mechanic that had her truck, she stepped down out of Tylerâs truck and gasped at the sight of her truck.Â
âTy...itâs fucking totalled!â She exclaimed with tearful eyes. He pulled her in for a hug, and kissed her on the top of her head.
âItâs fixable. Weâll get it fixed. I promise.â He said and she glared at him.
âYouâve been makinâ an awful lotta promises lately, Ty.â She said and he smirked.
âAnd Iâve followed through on every one so far, havenât I?â He said and her expression softened significantly.
âYouâre right. Iâm sorry. Iâm just...I didnât realize how bad...â She said, her brows knitting in the middle as she glanced up at him.Â
âSâokay, like I said, weâll get it fixed. Now, go pull my truck up and back it right to the front of yours. Weâll winch it up the trailer and get it all settled. Iâm gonna go talk to the mechanic real quick.â He explained and stepped away, walking toward the office. Georgiaâs heart fluttered as he walked away, and then it pounding heavily in her chest as she set her gaze on his truck.
The big, old, red dually diesel was a monster, and while it was slow to get going, once it was going, it was a freight train. It was basically a tank on wheels with the rebar roll cage that Tyler had retrofitted and welded to the frame himself, and with the rocket launchers on either side of the cab, plus the guard on the front with the Tornado Wrangler logo fashioned from old rusty steel. She knew Tyler was handy, and if you had tried to tell her anyone else worked on this truck, she wouldnât ever believe it. Tyler had a lot of pride when it came to his possessions, and while she guessed Dani helped him once in a great while, Georgia was sure enough that Tyler was the only one doing any work on this truck.
She thought about that again. Tyler had a lot of pride when it came to his possessions. What did that mean for Georgia? Tyler had always been one for excessive displays of affection in public when they were younger, but now that he was older, would it be less? Would it be different? With maturity, came subtlety, so would Tyler have that with her? Now that she thought about it, they had both been culprits of PDA in their younger days. Georgiaâs favorite thing to do was put her hands in his back jeans pockets as they walked. He would do the same, or his hand would end up halfway up under the back of her shirt or even under her belt and down her jeans, his hands cupped around her ass cheeks for everyone to see. As she sat reminiscing with a wild grin, Tyler walked up to the driver side door and touched her hand on the steering wheel.
âYou okay, Peach ?â He asked and she shook her head, breaking herself from her own day dream.Â
âYeah, just thinking.â She said and he smirked as he climbed onto the side step. She couldnât look out the side mirror, because Tylerâs honking big belt buckle was right in her face, among other parts of him that she longed to see again.
âAright, weâre all set. Reverse so I can grab your truck. Be light on the gas, Ole Redâs touchy.â He said and Georgia smiled wide as the diesel engine roared to life. She felt a sense of relief wash over her as she navigated driving Tylerâs beast of a truck for the first time. She loved sitting behind the wheel of a big diesel truck. It felt like home to her, especially with it being Tylerâs truck. It was as close to hers as she could get, and as close to Tyler as she would let herself get for the moment. This was Tylerâs pride and joy and it was a great sign of affection and respect that he was letting her drive it, even if it was just to back it up a few feet.Â
She hadnât driven with a trailer in a long time, but it was like riding a bicycle. She reversed easily and smoothly and Tyler jumped down from the side step to pull the ramp down for her truck. She put Ole Red in park and put the emergency brake on to prevent his truck from rocking too much while they were loading hers. He hooked the winch cable to the front axle and put her truck in neutral so it would roll easily up the ramp and onto the trailer. Georgiaâs truck creaked and rocked as it rolled up and onto the flatbed. She went to hop out of the driverâs side as Tyler was securing her truck on the flatbed.
âYou can drive a little, if you feel up to it.â He said as he cranked ratchet straps down, anchoring her truck. She shook her head.
âNo, thatâs okay. I might sleep a bit more. I like when you drive.â She said softly as she wrapped her arms around his neck from behind. He smiled as he turned to face her.
âYou like when I drive? Thatâs new.â He said and she placed her head against his chest, listening to his heart for a few moments before glancing up into his blue-green eyes.
âIâm less of a control freak...in my old age.â She joked and she earned a good, hearty laugh from him.Â
âDonât say that. You call yourself old and that means I might be gettinâ old too.â Tyler mused with a smirk.Â
âYouâve aged like good ole smoky, sweet, and thick bourbon.â She said and he pursed his lips.
âIâve never heard that used as a complement before. Yur feral for that.â Tyler said and he tilted his head toward her. He pressed his nose to the top of her hair and took in a deep breath. She smelled faintly like flowers. She barely ever used any perfume but when she did it was always a flowery scent that made Tylerâs senses run wild. He murmured into her hair, âYouâve aged like a fine white wine, all those floral notes really peeking through. That full bodied, rich bouquet thatâs so uniquely you.â
Her mouth dropped open slightly. âTyler Owens knows things about wine? My, my, I didnât know you were so fancy.âÂ
âCourse, sweetheart, Iâm fancy as fuck when I wanna be.â He stated, as he pulled away to check the last of the ratchet straps were tight. He guided her toward the front passenger door, opened it for her and held out a hand to aid in her climbing up into the cab. She smiled and thanked him as he shut her door and climbed in on his side. They headed toward Stillwater, toward her childhood home, to drop the trailer and chase some storms.
Do you remember President Biden's swift and strong response when pro-Israel extremists reportedly blasted the chemical weapon "skunk spray" on students peacefully protesting at Columbia University earlier this year? Do you remember how the White House condemned the attack, demanded accountability, and called on the school to protect students from such hate?
No? You don't remember? Of course you don't. Because none of it happened. President Biden didn't respond swiftly or strongly to the skunk spray attack. He didn't respond at all.
How about President Biden's response when a Texas man hurled racist slurs at a group of Palestinian Americans after a ceasefire protest at the University of Texas in Austin, ripped a Palestinian flagpole off their car, dragged one of them out of the backseat, and stabbed him?
Then again, the White House said nothingâeven after our civil rights and advocacy organization directly alerted the White House about the incident.
The Biden administration's silence is nothing new.
On Stanford Universityâs campus, a driver yelling"Fâk you and your people" reportedly used his car to ram an Arab Muslim student attending a ceasefire protest, sending him to the hospital. No response from the White House.
At the University of Texas, pro-Israel extremists disrupted a Palestine Solidarity Committee meeting and hurled profanities at the attendees. No response.
In Arizona, Texas, Georgia, New York and other states, law enforcement agencies have brutalized students and even professors who attended peaceful protests against the genocide in Gaza. Again, no response.
Now contrast the White House's lack of response to violent actions motivated by anti-Palestinian hate with the White House's vocal response to inflammatory words that a small number of individuals have allegedly made at or near pro-ceasefire protests on college campuses.
âI condemn the antisemitic protests, thatâs why I set up a program to deal with that,â the president said, broadly mischaracterizing the sit-ins led mostly by Jewish and Palestinian students.
In a statementmarking Passover, Biden said, âEven in recent days, weâve seen harassment and calls for violence against Jews. This blatant antisemitism is reprehensible and dangerous â and it has absolutely no place on college campuses or anywhere in our country.â
Just this week, the White House condemned protesters at Columbia for taking over Hamilton Hallâsomething students protesting the Vietnam War did, which the school now celebrates on its websiteâand curiously declared the use of a banner with the Arabic word "intifada" hate speech.
At the same time, the White House conveniently ignored the fact that most prominent banner displayed was "Hind's Hall," named after the 6-year-old girl murdered by Israeli forces while waiting for medicsâalso murderedâto save her.
Hypocrisy does not begin to describe the White House's inconsistency, which extends well beyond college campuses.
Last fall, the White House rushed to falsely claim that ceasefire protesters in Philadelphia were antisemitic for demonstrating outside a kosher restaurantâthe protesters actually targeted the business because it held a fundraiser benefiting the IDF.
But the White House said nothing when protesters at November's March for Israel chanted genocidal slogans. On the contrary, a prominent Biden administration official spoke at the march, sharing the stage with notoriously anti-Muslim and antisemitic pastor John Hagee.
While the administration is quick to condemn any allegation of antisemitism at protests, whether verified or manufactured, the administration has repeatedly failed to condemn verified incidents of anti-Palestinian racism and Islamophobia on college campuses (not to mention the antisemitism that pro-Israel extremists have directed at Jewish students advocating for a ceasefire, such as calling them "kapos.")
...
By instead validating slanders against pro-Palestinian protesters and downplaying anti-Palestinian racism on college campuses, the Biden administration has sent a signal that the hurt feelings of pro-war students who cannot tolerate hearing any criticism of the Israeli government are more worthy of attention than the violated rights and injured bodies of anti-war students.
The administration also gave law enforcement agencies and pro-Israel mobs cover to escalate their targeting of students, leading to horrific attacks on students at the University of California Los Angeles.
This inconsistencyâthis utter hypocrisyâmust end. If President Biden is going to comment on every controversy that erupts at a protest or on a college campus, he must do so with moral consistency. He can start by condemning the ongoing efforts to defame and brutalize anti-genocide students before we see more attacks on protesters or, God forbid, a repeat of the Kent State massacre.
Just like during Vietnam, a young generation of students is on the right side of history. It's long past time for President Biden to join them.
#us politics#israel#biden administration#vote uncommitted#joe biden#palestine#college protests#university protests#student protest#columbia university#kent state#ucla#mob violence#police brutality#Biden sent a representative to share a stage with a antisemitic pastor for a pro-Israel rally
Camping is Deadly (Wattpad | Ao3)
Requested by LikeAPro42
In hindsight, accepting an invitation from Florida to go on a camping trip wasnât the best idea. But Mississippi was bored, and a break from her government had sounded wonderful. Now, she was wondering if it was too late to escape.
âÂżPor quĂ© hizo empezar un fuego, Puerto Rico?â (Why did you start a fire Puerto Rico?) Florida yelled as he began stamping out the flames slowly spreading towards the tents.
âYo pensĂ© muy divertido.â (I thought it was very funny) Puerto Rico snapped back sarcastically, looking like he wanted to beat Florida over the head with his wooden spoon, his ears pulled back against his wooly hair, his teeth bared. Of course, that wasnât as intimidating as Puerto Rico probably wanted it to be, considering he wasnât lucky enough to get fangs.
It was, however, very adorable.
âIâm surprised it took us this long to get to arson,â Georgia commented, watching the scene with amusement.
âItâs not arson if itâs an accident!â Puerto Rico yelled back.
âBut wasss it an asssident?â Alabama asked.
âCĂĄllate, snake boy.â Puerto Rico snapped, throwing the spoon at Alabama. Alabama ducked, but Louisana caught the spoon.Â
âNow, frĂŠr, if you had broken one of my good spoons, I would have kicked your ass. You decided to have me make soupĂ©, and I will ban you from eating my food till you get me a new one.â Louisiana said.
âNo, lo siento, Ana. Por favor, donât make me eat Ridaâs cooking.â Puerto Rico begged, getting on his knees.
âRude! I never sent you to the hospital!â Florida said, knocking his elbow into Puerto Ricoâs head.
âYeah, 'cause I donât go to hospitals anymore, bruto.â Puerto Rico argued, âNot since that hijo de puta Rhoads.â
âThatâs gonna get ya killed one day, piti,â Louisiana commented as Puerto Rico stood up, repeatedly jabbing his elbow toward Florida. Upon hearing Louisianaâs comment, his face seemed to fall slightly.
âHasnât gotten me killed yet.â Puerto Rico muttered quietly, crossing his arms. Georgia went to stand beside him, bumping their shoulders together as a sign of comfort. Puerto Rico shot her a small smile.
âAh, the mindset of a true American.â Mississippi commented, trying to break the tension, causing Puerto Rico to flip her off, âOh come on, that was a compliment!â
âCan I get unadopted now? Iâll go be a recluse on my island and kidnap a bunch of peopleâs kids like Wai.â Puerto Rico sighed. Florida snorted.
âLo siento, hermanito. Youâre stuck with us until the end times.â Florida said, throwing an arm around Puerto Rico.
âSweet, Iâll be free next week.â Puerto Rico said, causing Louisana to point her spoon at him.
âPiti, get that attitude out of my kitchen.â They threatened, causing amused laughter to ripple through the group.
âLou, itâs bumfuck nowhere, Florida,â Alabama said, âLassst time we were here, we all had to go to the hossspital after Rida made us food. Assside from Richard, who doesssnât want to care about hisss health.â
âRida gave you poisonous berries. I am making food, and you will respect me.â Louisiana said, ignoring Puerto Ricoâs complaints that he did get medical attention.Â
âThey werenât poisonous. Yâall are just cowards,â Florida argued, prompting Georgia to elbow him sharply in the ribs.
âWhy did I let Florida talk me into this again?â Mississippi murmured.
âI donât know why you did, but Rida bribed me with Louisâ cooking.â Puerto Rico said, gaining nods of agreement from everyone aside from Louisiana.
âHigh praise from my siblings, but also, ouch, Flor, am I just a bargaining chip to you?â Louisiana asked, hand over their heart.
âYeah, pretty much,â Florida answered, no emotion in his voice,
âThereâs a joke to be had about our biological father there.â Puerto Rico said.
âQuiet, or youâre going in the swamp.â
âOh no, the swamp, so scary. Iâm gonna see snakes and bugs!â Puerto Rico snarked back.
âWell, maybe if youâre lucky, youâll see Shrek,â Mississippi said, crossing her arms.
âPlease, Shrek has standards. Why would he be in Florida?â Puerto Rico asked.
âÂĄMe cansĂ©! El tiempo de pantano.â (Thatâs it! Swamp time.) Florida said, rushing at Puerto Rico, who dodged, blew a raspberry at Florida, then vanished, âÂĄHijo de puta!âÂ
âWell, at leassst there were no casssualtiesss thisss time.âÂ
Important, PLEASE Read and Share.
TW // Violence and Police Brutality.
Protesters in Atlanta Georgia are being threatened on bogus charges by the state.
For the past 2+ years, protesters in Atlanta Georgia have been protesting and camping out in the Weelaunee Forest, Atlanta's largest remaining green space. With so little of these vast spaces left, and more being taken, it is so important to save what we can.
The Atlanta Police Foundation chose the Weelaunee Forest to establish a massive training complex which would include fake city like buildings for Police training, which is why the project has been dubbed "Cop City". This training facility would no doubt be used to increase the militarization of the Police, and add to the harassment and brutalization both black communities and protesters face when trying to live and exercise their rights.
The facility would be built adjacent to a majority Black, working class community that was not only promised the forest for trails and park space, but would surely be subject to even more policing instead of a Third Space* they can use as a community.
The facility would desecrate 87 acres of land, spanning over 381 acres, and costing around $90 million dollars that could have gone back into community projects and care instead of further the subjugation of the working class.
Police have been extremely violent towards the dubbed "Forest Defenders", raiding the forest multiple times to shoot pepper balls at nonviolent protesters and also destroying shelters, water/food storage, and even purposely destroy Jewish religious sites, including a Sukkah that was built for Sukkot and was destroyed by police in a raid 2 months after, along with a large Menorah which "disappeared". The forest camps has become an important religious site for Jewish people in and around Atlanta, as more than 60+ Jewish People have traveled to the forest for Shabbat, with hundreds more joining the live stream for Shabbat.
The forest is not just important for nearby Black and Jewish communities, the Defenders adding shelters, cafeterias, and even a small stage venue in the forest in an effort to Squat the forest has provided local homeless communities with a warm place to eat and shelter. The forest has transformed into a safe space for the community as Defenders educate each other and the Atlanta communities on first aid, cultural differences, leftism and anarchism in practice, and more.
Following violent interactions with Police, protesters have responded by burning down construction equipment (with no construction workers nearby), and throwing rocks at Cops who attempted to get close to harass the protesters. When it comes to the safety of our planet and communities, property is replaceable.
However, a life is not. On January 18th, 2023, a nonbinary anarchist eco activist, who was knowledgeable as a street medic and worked tirelessly as a forest defender, was shot and killed by Georgia State Troopers during another raid on the forest. Their name was Manuel âTortuguitaâ TerĂĄn.
Police claimed Tortuguita shot first and injured a trooper, which the media picked up and began to circulate. However, multiple autopsies have confirmed not only did Tortuguita have no gunpowder residue on their hands, but Tortuguita was shot while on their knees, hands in the hair, surrendering to Police. Autopsies also concluded Tortuguita was hit with at least 57 gunshot wounds across their entire body, showing Tortuguita was executed by a police fire squad.
Police body camera footage also showed a Cop admitting that the Troopers had "fucked up their own guy", which authorities of course dismissed and refuse to participate in proving their innocence that they're so sure of.
In response to this, protesters took to the streets and burned a cop car, leading to police arresting 40+ activists. Police also arrested, threatened, and intimidated anyone who was peacefully discussing and sharing information about Tortuguita's murder on the streets of Atlanta, attempting to silence anyone who was even peacefully raising awareness.
Atlanta Police also conducted a random raid of a legally operating Bail Fund based in Atlanta, The Atlanta Solidarity Funds. The raid came as the Atlanta Solidarity Funds was legally raising money and awareness to help with Bail and Legal Defense, as protesters who were arrested peacefully were being charged with Domestic Terrorism, and now RICO/Racketeering charges. The Atlanta Police claim that the Bail Fund was laundering money, but other Bail Funds are calling this out as an obvious act of intimidation since absolutely no stories or proof has been released in conjuction with these financial charges.
There's a lot more, this has been going on for years, but one thing is certain. If we do not stop this here, they will tear the forests in your cities down and continue to militarize the police, furthering the oppression of the working class and continuing to make Black and marginalized communities lives hell.
Please read up on what has been happening in Atlanta because there's way more than the bits I talked about here. The Forest Defenders have been through so fucking much, and they still have a lengthy battle. But you cannot kill an idea. You can follow the Atlanta Solidarity Fund and the Forest Defenders on Social Media to keep up with them.
PLEASE boycott when possible, or be extremely vocal, towards the companies backing cop city. PLEASE tell them they have Blood on their hands.
Please continue to raise awareness, and follow Cop City closely. Please Read and Share.
The Stakebait Coterie! Khloe and her boys are out there saving the Atlanta Waterbloods or get Final Death'd trying! (I'll type it all beneath the cut because I know.. my handwriting)
The main characters of the Poisoned Peach - ATL by Night chronicle my beloved is running for me! Khloe is my character, and the boys are my unbeatably dope team.
Name: Khloe Mariah Osbourne
Born: 05/04/1993, Embraced: 2022 by a Ventrue, came out Thinblood, Physical Age: 29
Height: 5'5", Hair: Dark Brown, Eyes: Hazel, Gender: Miss (She/Her), Nationality: American
Likes: Coffee, True Crime, Tabletop RPGs, Being a Minx, Staying Busy
Dislikes: Disappointing Others, Being Unprepared, Not knowing what's up, Her body, Tiktok-Style Ads
A little history: Khloe grew up the only child of very normal people who nastily divorced when she graduated high school. An avid reader and over-thinker, Khloe has immersed herself in many fantasy worlds and strategy games to the point where she seems to think of everything. A people pleaser who has a lot of good acquaintances yet no friends, the lack of companionship was hard-felt when COVID rolled around and kept everyone inside. Had a few partners, though none lasted. One night after visiting her mother, she found herself on a backroad all alone, save for the oncoming headlights that may be straying in her lane. (Where the Poisoned Peach begins!)
Name: Kyle Johnson
Born: 2/3/1994, Embraced: 2020, Sire unknown, but came out Thinblood, Physical Age: 26
Height: 5â10", Hair: N/A, Eyes: Sexy-Boy Brown, Gender: More man than your man (He/Him), Nationality: American
Likes: Feeling needed and helping others, Parties, Drinking cocktails with stupid names, Reasonable reactions.
Dislikes: Being late, people that CAN help and just don't, the MINIONS, Improperly labelled content warnings.
History: His mom was a nurse, her mom was a nurse, and so on. His sisters didnât want to carry on the tradition, so he decided to go into the medical field himself as an EMT. The stress of the job brought on early balding, but he thrived both on the clock and in the club. One night, he drank a few too many and he woke up in a dumpster the next night, completely clueless. The sunlight began to hurt, nothing sat right in his stomach. Everything was the same yet all so different, better and worse. He spiraled, confused and depressed, until the Dusk Angel found him and helped him come to terms with his new existence. Now Kyle proudly helps the Thinblood Revolution as a kind face to help ease the new blood in, just as he had been.
Name: Randolph "Ralph" Gaylord King III
Born: 10/09/1996, Embraced: 2021 by a Nosferatu, came out Thinblood, Physical Age: 25
Height: 6'5" (Even pre-Embrace, him just big), Hair: Brown (Has to shave the remnants every evening, used to be long and thick and in a man-bun), Eyes: Yellow-Orange (Brown pre-Embrace), Gender: BOI (He/Him), Nationality: American
Likes: Guns, Bad Jokes, Strategy Games, Annoying Christian, Being a right menace
Dislikes: Himself :(, Whiny people, Beer, Signs with sayings meant to be taken serious.
Some Background: Born in St. Louis Missouri, Ralph had a pretty standard lower middle class upbringing. He followed his father and older brother and joined the army when he turned 18 right out of high school. Years of prep and hard work paid off as he went through candidate courses, eventually making it into Special Forces. His career was short-lived however after losing his right foot on his first deployment. Depression and dead-end jobs seemed to be his future until as a joke he started posting thirst-traps on social media, but it got real when his follower count spiked and sponsors started making offers. He was thrown into the life of an Insta-Thot - specifically Fitness Inspo - ultimately landing him in a party in Atlanta, Georgia, where his soon to be sire, Bill - a jealous and spiteful Nosferatu - lurked. Ralph was alone as he stumbled to his hotel room, and Bill could contain his hate no longer. To him, Ralph deserved to be as ugly on the outside as Bill thought he had to be on the inside. Little did Bill know, he messed with the wrong guy.
(Not written due to lack of room, we clearly don't play favorites here...) Eventually found in the sewers by the Dusk Angel, Ralph now serves in the Thinblood revolution, using every skill he's acquired in order to get revenge against the Fullbloods.
Name: Christian Ottavio
Born: 01/16/1989, Embraced: 2017, Gangrel sire but came out Thinblood, Physical Age: A rough 28
Height: 6'1", Hair: Dark Brown, Eyes: Brown, Gender: The MAN (He/Him), Nationality: American
Likes: Beer, Relaxing nights spent inside, Napping, His truck
Dislikes: His family, Wearing tight jeans, Bro-Country music, Fullbloods
A bit of background: Born and bred in Georgia into a rich family with ideals he couldn't wrap his head around. Went into the workforce at a young age in an effort to escape them and be on his own. He's had to sleep in his truck many a night, but eventually got everything together enough to get a roof over his head. That was until some uppity lick decided to draft him into the army of the damned during the Atlanta Sabbat civil war. He was one of many forced to fight during the schism, and one of the few to come out "alive." Before his sire could take him behind the proverbial tool shed, Christian was saved by the Dusk Angel, and now is a proud Thinblood freedom fighter.
Paul Blumenthal at HuffPost:
Hurricane Helene left a path of destruction as it moved across a string of Southern U.S. states last week, with an untold amount of property damage and at least 100 people dead. The vast devastation caused by the storm has left many without food and water, or cut off from medical care. Among the logistics issues imposed by the hurricane is one that may not seem immediate, but carries significant consequences: the new struggle for election officials to ensure affected voters can cast their ballots in the Nov. 5 election.
Election officials had already stated concerns about the delivery of mail ballots by the Postal Service in a letter made public on Sept. 11. That letter noted that the Postal Serviceâs consistent failure to deliver mail on time and the non-standardized use of postmarks across the country could lead to the rejection of properly cast mail ballots in November. âOver the course of the last year, election officials across the country have raised serious questions about processing facility operations, lost or delayed election mail, and front-line training deficiencies impacting USPSâs ability to deliver election mail in a timely and accurate manner,â the letter from the National Association of State Election Directors, the National Association of Secretaries of State and 29 local election official associations said. Those issues are now compounded by Heleneâs destruction as thousands may be displaced for an extended period of time, polling locations may be damaged or unreachable, and mail delivery to affected areas is suspended. Adding to the complications is the fact much of the damage is in battleground states like North Carolina, where relatively small numbers of voters could have an outsize impact on election results.
Hurricane Heleneâs leaving of a wide swath of destruction could have a massive impact on voting, especially in the key states of Georgia and North Carolina.
Spock enters medbay, hands folded behind his ramrod straight back. When he asks about Dr. McCoy, Nurse Chapel escorts him to the back part of the bay and into the office area.
It looks like a war zone. But then, Spock supposes, it was.
"Dr. McCoy, Commander Spock for you."
McCoy quickly switches the screen of his PADD, but not before Spock could catch a glimpse of the medical article the doctor had been reading.
"Thanks for comin' in Commander. Go ahead and have a seat." He gestures to the couch at the wall and nods to Chapel and he stands. "Thanks for bringing him in."
Chapel gives a nod of her own. "Of course, doctor."
As she leaves, Leonard sits beside Spock on the couch. And for a moment there is silence.
"May I ask what is involved in this assement before we begin?" Spock asks, breaking the uncomfortable silence.
"You may," Leonard answers, but that's not why I called you down here."
A frown flashes across Spock's face. "Lt. Uhura informed me that you wished to complete a psychological evaluation to determine if I am fit for duty again."
"We'll get to that. My dad died a few years ago. Um. He got sick, not long before I enlisted. There wasn't a cure. Assisted suicide is legal in Georgia so..." his words trail off. "It's what he wanted, but I can't help but feel guilty about. Especially- Especially now that they've found a cure." Leonard shakes his head. "I'm sorry for your loss, Spock, I'm so sorry."
Spock grips tight fistfuls of his uniform pants, forcing himself to take measured breaths.
"It's not an easy burden to bear. We all saw what happened; it wasn't your fault, kid. Feeling guilt, feeling shame, anger, sadness, those are normal and healthy things to feel. It's also normal to not feel anything. And not because your half Vulcan. But because that's just how grief is sometimes. Even for humans." Leonard briefly gripped Spock's shoulder. "You're not alone in this. I can't- I can't begin to understand what you're feeling after every thing that's happened. But I do know what it is to lose a parent. I know what it is to lose the one person in your family that you feel is the only one who truly understands you. I lost that when I lost my daddy, and I'm sorry you lost that in your mama."
"Thank you, doctor," Spock manages to croak out. He doesn't flinch when Leonard gently pats his back and neither of them move from the couch for a long while. They just sit together and politely ignore the fact that the other is crying.
