“The One That Zeus Fears”
An interpretation of Nyx I came up with at work- took way longer than intended but I like to think it was worth it. I’m hoping to sell this as an art print one day! As a figure, she has always intrigued me. I mean, what a cool epithet!!! Hope y’all like it!

Second print for my psyche series!
Believe it or not, is based on Girl With the Pearl Earring (loosely ofc.) Initial sketch was done at work then finalized on Procreate. Tried to get that camera effect where when you focus on one object everything else is blurry. IDK I suck real bad at backgrounds/composition whoopsie.

Also, most of southern culture comes from queer, poc, etc?????? Like. No, stop bemoaning the whole place and just help out, newsflash your whining and staying away is what feeds the racist, homophobic narrative that is so stereotypical! It feeds this idea of us versus them, which goes back to the Reconstruction Era!! (Which notoriously ended up supporting the racist white elite btw- people from other states helped make it worse??)
The South is not your scapegoat, we all have a problem. By focusing on the South as some epicenter of evil you help perpetuate the lie the homophobic, racist, etc elite created! They want to pretend it’s their culture, when so much of Southern culture from cuisine to mysticism is from minority groups. That stuff is ours too- and deserves to be celebrated for what it historically truly has been.
Southern culture when properly understood historically and respectfully to its origins in minority groups is the result of the melting pot America loves to uphold. Flourishing in spite of all the hate in the region- to the point it becomes globally loved! In that sense it is the American Dream in spite of America, acknowledging the absolute horrors of the country while creating something beautiful in defiance of it.
And the sad thing is, is through the scapegoating and alienation the ones truly hurt are the queer, poc, religious minorities, etc. Not the Republican rich white elite. I will never forget when Hollywood actors and studios started pulling out of Georgia due to a hateful law being passed (can’t even remember the specific one there are too many whoops.) The community was OUTRAGED at Hollywood cause guess what? They were only hurting minority groups in doing so!!!!! They took the easy way out, a way to get the good PR while actually contributing nothing to change the status quo, even hurting it. Because they took jobs away, money away, resources away that could have helped us flourish. The elite weren’t hurt by that, they were doing just fine before Hollywood arrived, it was the poor, the queer, the poc, that stood the best chance to benefit- they could have become active in the fight instead of bailing. But that’s the history of it yea? The other states love to bail on the South, leave it to rot, pretend it’s the source of all evil. It’s the malicious white narrative that it’s only a problem in the South that helps support the corrupt status quo. Gonna stop for now but I could easily elaborate-
but in summary the stereotype of the South and the hate it garners is a propaganda tool for the rich, white, homophobic, traditionalist, etc elite.
A lot of people have a super, super skewed idea of what rural towns in America are like.
I grew up on a farm two miles outside a town with less than 200 people. For a short while, there was a queer-owned coffee shop/art gallery on the main highway. It's where I spent the better part of an entire summer, just hanging out with my laptop. The owner would start experimenting with new drink ideas on slow days, and give me free ones in exchange for feedback.
"And he didn't get run out of town?!" Nah, because his mom owned a hair salon and did the hair of all the old ladies in town, and if they were jerks to her son, she would have stopped doing up their hair and they'd have had to drive half an hour into the city to find a new hairdresser.
My hometown isn't some bastion of progressive politics or anything, but like...it's not a two-dimensional caricature, either. I still live in the area. There are queer people. There are a lot of people of color, especially Black elders and Latinx immigrants. There are disabled folks. There's an entire group of found-family queer leftists who bought a farm together. I know of at least two pagan families, and multiple Jewish folks.
If you read "town of 200 people" and immediately assumed that all of them are white, Christian, cis, straight, able-bodied, republican landowners? You're extremely mistaken.
Rural America is more diverse than you think.
#I know this is unusual for my blog#but it had to be said#so much of why I have had to hide my LGBTQ identity is due to prejudice against the South#and just so many of my beliefs in general#because how dare I break the status quo#how dare I acknowledge problems and the good and actively striving to see the latter thrive beyond the former#the real American Ideal was there all along just thriving in the country’s shame#in what it tries to oppress whoopsie#how dare I not just shun the bad and not actually do anything to try and change the system#how dare I support radical change#and not just performative activism#TBH I am grateful i am from the South cause with my LGBTQ identity it means I’m not in denial about all the crappy stuff#while genuinely getting to celebrate in the good#If i hear one more non Southern white person audibly gasp at the idea of racist history existing outside of the South I will scream#You are just as bad Meghyn

Some fanart I made of one of my favorite PokeTubers, MandJTV! First time with Procreate, and the image definitely looks like it.

I’m not sure how many would be interested, but I have my own original comic in the works that’s a mix of magical girls and healing from trauma. It’s the story of three young women navigating what both themselves and the world in the aftermath of trauma. The title is A Handle, no idea on the release date.
This is Headphone Jackie, a local legend in her city. Unlike others, she doesn’t fight problems with her fists, or tactical maneuvers. Instead, she listens. Breaching all sides to start communication, and using that to combat problems and danger. (Not really that visible in this image but she is black- I hope to come out with more concept designs showing her head, etc.)

Update: I’ve been trying to disengage with social media lately-it’s been messing with me pretty bad. I’ll still post art occasionally here- but if you want to see more/ see more recent stuff I’m making a wordpress website that will be linked to here, and my Insta is still up.
I really, really love some of the people on this site- but due to the nature of social media I’ve mostly watched and absorbed, never getting into the mix of the drama. I don’t enjoy fandom fights, etc. So I’m moving more to platforms where I’ll see less of that/ I wont be as tempted. Additionally, I decided that instead of online action I would rather practice activism, etc in real life more.

Some of you might have wonder where I’ve been and here is the result- I’ve been working on this! (I’m also an essential worker in a pandemic so that affects things too lol.) It’s a picture of my boss and her husband as superheroes using the design elements they listed for me! It was a good practice for metal and feathers. Hope y’all like it!

Just created a logo for a local dessert company, Sugar Pharm. Really pleased with how it turned out. (the pharm is supposed to be a reference to the owner being a pharmacist, which is why there is an X on the R and why the sprinkles are pill-like!)

The first pride was a riot, more specifically a riot against police violence. Trans women of colour like Marsha P. Johnson paved the way for the celebration of pride today. You cannot celebrate your pride this month, or any month if you aren’t also supporting Black Lives Matter and the riots going on against police violence right now. Us white LGBTQ+ need to stand up for our black siblings and their rights, their struggles. We need to amplify their voices and show any support we can.Hey! Better yet, reblog this version:
Extensive BLM Google doc including places to donate to, education resources, etc
List of 75 things white people can do right now
Simple way to donate to the cause if you have no money to

I feel this- also as in an additional weird space of getting my job and doing training right as this all hit.
Also, can I add the weird moments when you as a retail/healthcare/etc worker (I’m in a weird position as a pharmacy tech idk what I’m classified as) have to agree with the customer or at least nod along when they talk about their coronavirus opinion. Cause you always have to empathize/sympathize with the customer- I don’t even know what to feel anymore and I’m not sure I want to.
I feel guilty when I shouldn’t for being out and somehow these people think me being out means its ok so I feel like I’m setting a bad example but at the same time others who are hyper paranoid actively dehumanize me when I realize they don’t mean to. And they kind of have to. I guess. (And dehumanize is a harsh sounding word- I don’t mean it that harshly. But it does feel odd when you are handled like a contamination.)
And then people ask if we are doing alright and I know they aren’t asking about our health really, just wether we have covid or not, should I avoid you or not. And I get it- you gotta stay safe. I just feel like a lot of this “appreciation” is fake. But that’s normal. (Humans are selfish and self-centered by nature, I’m not going to expect otherwise- and really am I any different?)
I mean- I’ve become people’s psuedo therapist/best friend somedays because they have no one to talk to. I wish I could voice my opinion to someone as well.
And I dont want to complain because I’m not a nurse or doctor or someone in the food industry, etc- someone actually that important. Still have a paycheck. (so here I am complaining on tumblr and hoping I don’t regret it.)
Though I am a little bitter that I’m going to have to start doing covid testing and have extended hours with no extra pay and minimum training.
Apologies for these odd ramblings- hope who ever reads this is staying healthy in all the meanings of the word. I hope you are finding the little enjoyments in life.
People who are in self quarantine really have no idea how weird it is to be a base level essential worker through this whole thing. I don’t mean a doctor or a nurse or someone else working round the clock to put a stop to it or find a cure. I mean a truck driver or a gas station attendant or a retail clerk. Because everything is basically normal, only a little bit off, and then again not as off as it should be.
Every day I get up. I go to work. I sell people things. There are fewer people coming through and they’re buying more because they’re stocking up or they haven’t been shopping in a month, but there are still lines, like always. There’s plexiglass between the cashiers and the customers, and no dividers, and we have to continually yell at people not to put their items on the belt until we’ve finished the previous transaction, and they ignore us or argue with us, same as always. The more rules we have, the more rules there are for people to ignore. And the longer it goes on, the more normal it gets. Pretty much no one thanks us for coming in to work anymore. People are starting to act like we should never, ever run out of an item. It’s just blanket assumed that we will have hand sanitizer and soap and toilet paper and people are shocked when we say we’re out. But there are still ads on the TV in the break room telling us all to stay home and the more the customers ignore social distancing, the more management puts pressure on us to set a good example, until we’re expected to follow standards that are physically impossible.
The longer this goes on, the less ‘essential’ I feel.
And then I come home and get online as always and there are all of these people asking what you’re doing while you’re stuck in quarantine and coming up with fun things to do when you’re in quarantine and talking about what you’re going to do when this whole thing is over and you can finally, finally leave your house. Everyone just seems to assume that you, the person reading their words, are in quarantine, because everyone’s in quarantine. It’s like this big, international, universal experience that you’re not a part of.
It feels like fifteen years from now everyone in the world will be looking at each other and asking “Remember what it was like to be cooped up in the house? Wasn’t it awful?” and I’ll just be sitting there going “…….no, I don’t. I didn’t do that.” And people will look at me and wonder how I could not know.

When I saw their support I just had to draw them as kids- I can’t believe Yuri was that childhood friend!!
Hey if he worked for the gardener makes sense they would hang out in the gardens a lot.
(With drawings like these I really wish my art style was cuter. IDK what happened with Yuri’s face.)
