NEW DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN LOGO! ❤️

...So many--Make that TOO MANY people are treating this as a sign that MCU Spider-Man is going to be "finally" be good. And it's like...All we have is a title, a new logo, and a director sharing his thoughts on the character. We know NOTHING about what the fuck is going to happen in this movie beyond any of that, and the fact that it premiers next year. NOTHING. And people are already convinced that the character's finally on the right track.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm excited. I'm ALWAYS excited for more Spider-Man. I was even excited for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man...before we got a bad trailer and an actor being anti-woke that killed that excitement (Still gave it a chance, though, and it's still pretty good). But with how much people are already convincing themselves that Spider-Man is BACK and BETTER than ever, despite knowing NOTHING...It just shows me how much they hate MCU Spider-Man where they look at a title "Brand New Day" and convince themselves, "YES! It's a soft reboot that will finally make the character GOOD!" And I'm just sitting here, like...The character was ALREADY good. To me, at least.

Maybe not the BEST version of Spider-Man, but Tom Holland's portrayal was one of my favorites as younger, messier Peter Parker who still cared about doing the right thing above anything else, even if he did have the occasional selfish desire to help himself or people he cares about. In other words, they made Peter Parker a more realistic teenager, as opposed to the perfect idol Spider-Man fans wanted him to be. And I can kind of get that, but let's not pretend he didn't have moments of perfection in his trilogy and the greater MCU. Wanting to save Vulture instead of letting him die, constantly getting back up despite making mistakes and learning from them, jumping in to stop an alien invasion without hesitation, joining Iron Man to go fight Thanos as he thought the world was in danger, forgetting everything about asking out MJ once he knew Quintin Beck was sus, curing EVERY VILLAIN instead of letting them die, and choosing a huge sacrifice to let all the world forget Peter Parker as opposed to letting the multiverse collapse. He didn't even HESITATE on that last one, because he knew it was the right thing to do. Because it's what Spider-Man should do.

That's the part of the character I always remember, and I keep hearing from Spider-Man fans that it's not enough. And it always pisses me off, I'm not kidding. Every fucking time Spider-Man fans THINK they're getting what they want, they all suddenly decide it's not enough because the character did ONE thing wrong or because he didn't do enough. There was a time when it was decided that Tom Holland's the BEST live-action Spider-Man, then a few pretentious pricks came in and started making my boy seem a lot less special. Even though he IS, and I feel like my brain is sometimes BROKEN when I'm the only one who sees what makes MCU Spider-Man so good.

Look, maybe Brand New Day will be good. Maybe it will be so good that it'll blow EVERYTHING from the Home trilogy. I'm actually HOPING that it does. I ALWAYS wanted the next movie to be better than anything that came before it. What I don't want is people treating it as the character FINALLY being good when, to me, he was ALWAYS good. Especially since, again, we know NOTHING. Just a title, a date, and a director's thoughts. Your hype is a bit too high given how little we know. When we get an actual TRAILER and PLOT synopsis, then I'd say you can freak out as much as you want. But when all you get is THIS? You need to chill out, JUST a bit.

...That being said, I do love that logo. LOOK at that logo. That is a COOL, fucking logo. It just SCREAMS Spider-Man--And, yes, I know, Spider-Man is in the title, but LOOK at it. It's practically screaming the name, and I love it.

April Ludgate Stan’s rise! We’re getting the witchy vibes! THE GREEN HOODED CLOAK!!! Fashion on point!

The first Marvel project I’m excited for in a while; looks like a horror, action, Halloween special! Some Wandavision trippiness (loving the references we got)! Hopefully some of our fav Scarlet witch (they did have the hand on the tree with the partial glove so there is hope). And retaining its balance, humor/action with some jump scares & a story focus, and hopefully not too witchy witchy but more Wanda/HP witchy? Also do I sense a little campy vibes but literal? The team looks cool, shots are great, intrigued with the “stuck in a spell” and yeah — I’m excited!!!

After sitting out the first few phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to a deal that was, at the time, with a different studio, the X-Men are finally joining the MCU for its upcoming film, Avengers: Doomsday. The confirmed list of X-Men actors starring in the new film includes James Marsden, Rebecca Romijn, Alan Cumming, Ian McKellan, and Professor Xavier himself, Patrick Stewart. Stewart, who did make an appearance in 2022's Doctor Strange & the Multiverse of Madness as an alternate-world version of Xavier, is no doubt thrilled to be bringing the original version back to the screen. When we spoke to Stewart prior to the opening of 2006's X-Men 3, he talked about how much he's enjoyed his work in the X-Men franchise.

Avengers: Doomsday will open in theaters on May 1, 2026.
