MF Day #70: Aquad

At this point, Mixels has shown us that you can take any ordinary object or device and turn it into a living mixing creature. It’s cool that they were able to come up with a plane-like mixel with Aqaud. And much like with Tiketz, it’s cleverly incorporated with the fire fighting theme, making Aquad resemble a fire plane.

I also like how they incorporated some bird-like features to his character. Such as scouting out the area in the skies like a hawk, scooping up water like a pelican, and then dumping it out like a seagull. With the last one perfectly encapsulating the function of a fire plane by dowsing water on anything burning. Hopefully it isn’t anything in infernite territory, otherwise Aquad will for sure be getting some complaints.

So I called mcfd to make a report an hour ago. I got put on hold. The automated voice told me my estimated wait time is 45 minutes and I could keep my place in the queue by leaving my # and they would call me back instead. So like, how long am I supposed to wait? I'm legit starting to worry I'm not gonna get a call back and then what do I do?

#the best way to get the cops off his tail about this though was to do exactly what happened in the show #Dean had already been caught by the time John knew what happened #if he'd shown up and whisked him out of there he would have likely faced questions because it was all still fresh #but by waiting he got written off almost completely as just another deadbeat hard nosed dad doling out tough love to his delinquent kid #cops don't actually pay attention to that because it's what they expect #so by the time he did show back up they'd forgotten all about him and Dean and they could just vanish again #and in my experience with friends in the foster care system the system always prefers kids to be with their parents #and the system is quite good at looking the other way #like you got really work at it to get them to pay attention and give a shit #and who knows what John was in the middle of it is quite likely that he couldn't/didn't want to break away from it #which is actually very much in character (via @jinkieswouldyoulookatthis)

if THIS was the further context i would've been completely content with this instead of the subsequent implication that john was just being mean to dean

Opposition parties are calling for Minister of Child and Family Development Mitzi Dean to resign after a Tyee report revealed a damning audit showing consistent failures to meet ministry standards for protecting children. The audit found no evidence or documentation that social work teams had made required visits to check on children in at least 14 foster care placements. Karin Kirkpatrick, the BC United critic for MCFD, said the audit revealed “a complete neglect of youth for extended periods.” This was “a clear violation of policy,” Kirkpatrick said during question period Wednesday. “Despite assurances from the minister, the situation has only gotten worse.” The special audit was commissioned by the ministry after two Indigenous children were placed in a home near Chilliwack where they were horrifically abused for months, with no visits from social workers over a seven-month period. One of the children, an 11-year-old boy, died of his injuries in March 2021.

MF Day #67: Hydro

I think Hydro is a pretty decent looking mixel. The main thing going for him is ladder jaw which you can have fun coming up with crazy mix combinations with. He's apparently pretty forgetful or has his head in the clouds, which is a rather interesting and nest trait for the character. Also the way his mouth moves in the special is just moving his upper head up and down in a rather janky way. Was it done to save up the budget for mouth moving? Most likely, but I think it works for this particular character.

They inherited their grandmother's artistic talent and her stubbornness. She was skilled in painting, drawing, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, beading, singing, piano, and ukelele. She/they also inherited her grandmother's compassion and generosity.

Nova spent most of her/their life under the care of MCFD. Angel wants to ensure that Nova’s final resting place honours her wishes to be with her family, the funds requested will cover the cost for the headstone and installation in Alberta, where their dad rests, and in Victoria with her grandmother.
