Playing with Demons
I finally got my (belated)Halloween art project of the year done. And for this one, I decided to make an art piece based on the recent installation of Spooky Month: Hollow Sorrows, which was a fantastic episode! This picture took a little bit longer than anticipated, but I'm overall happy of how it turned out!

Kinger's Fortress of Solitude
I've always considered Kinger to be one of my favorites from TADC, with his forgetful but kindhearted personality. And now I have a bigger appreciation for his character thanks to the recent episode.

Joy
Here's a painting of Joy from Inside Out. I've been thinking about doing a series of paintings of each different emotion, and I wanted to start if with a personal favorite of mine.
Joy has possibly the strongest character arc in a pixar film since Woody from Toy Story. Her learning the importance of all the other emotions feeds into the original film's message beautifully, and I'm so glad that the sequel allows Joy to grow upon this moral rather than rehashing it.
The background was inspired by the starry night painting by Vincent Van Gogh, and I thought it would be a nice fit to Joy's personality.

Bake-Believe Bungle
Here's a fanmade Cuphead poster I've cooked up!
The scenario is that the cup trio signed up for a summer job to be Chef Saltbaker's assistants, and have been put in charge to bake pastries. But they eventually discovered the vast variety of fun things they can use the dough for that doesn't involve creating food dishes. Being the mischievous, fun-thirsty kids they are, they proceed to create a bunch of unique ways to play with their food to their heart's content, much to the chef's dismay.
I was originally planning to release this around the time the "The Delicious Last Course" reached it's 2nd year anniversary. However, this project that originally started off relatively simple turned into something bigger than I intended; adding some extra details to make it feel more complete. And I'm pretty proud of the final result, it may have taken about two months to complete it, but I say it was worth the extra effort.

Name Appreciation
I haven't been posting anything in a hot minute, as I've either been busy with other things in life, or working on some bigger art projects. To make up for some lost time I came up with this simple art piece based off of the Indie animated mini series: "Alphabet Lore".
It's a surprisingly well-done show based on what it had going for. And all the letter designs and worldbuilding are very fun to watch. So I thought I'd show it some appreciation as much as the letters do with the art of spelling.

The Owl House Meets Mixels
Here's a crossover idea I thought of that's also a dedication to Pride month. Where some noteable characters from The Owl House meets a bunch of Mixels.
I wanted to make an art piece based off one of my favorite queer couples in animation, that being Luz and Amity. And I also felt like the rainbow-length color palate of Mixels would fit right in with the occasion.

Sweet Talk
This is a little crossover I thought of between two candy land rulers.
When I saw the Amazing Digital Circus sneak preview of the Princess Loolilalu character, she immediately reminded me of Baroness Von Bon Bon from the Cuphead Show. They both have a similar physical appearance with creative looking dresses and hair made out of candy, desert foods, and even a bit of fruit.
I also appreciate how Loolilalu's personality is different enough from Baroness Von Bon Bon so that they didn't feel like the exact same character. Whereas the Baroness is crazy and addictive, Loolilalu feels more innocent and controlled.
Plus it helped made me come up with this scenario of the Baroness looking very "eager" to be around the princess. Although a part of me does wonder if both of them were hungry for each other...I'd imagine it'd be like that Tex Avery cartoon where the two vultures try to eat each other.

Mixels Frenzy: The End
And we’ve officially come to the end of the art project; closing my own tribute to this underrated little gem of a franchise that has left a huge impact on my life. All 81 Mixels, drawn, colored, and presented! Overall it has been a swell time revisiting this series, and drawing out all these fun, wacky, and imaginative looking creatures. Getting to talk about all my personal favorite characters, while also finding some new appreciation for some others.
I feel very accomplished working on this project, it allowed me to sharpen up my drawing skills, create my own release schedule, as well as experimenting around with the color pencils set that I got for Christmas. I’ll probably do something like this again for a different series/franchise in the future, but for now, I’m going to move on to some new smaller projects. I’ve been drawing Mixel characters for nearly 3 months and I kinda want to take a break for now. But I’ll certainly get back to it at some point, I might even consider drawing out all the Maxes.
Anyways, Thank you to everyone who has stuck around for this 2+ month long project. I hope you enjoyed this little series as much I did, and that you’ll stay tuned to more of my upcoming art pieces.

MF Day #81: Screeno
And Lasty we have Screeno, a charming looking mixel with a TV box for a head, and a tie to make himself look presentable when making news reports. I feel like had something with him and the other Newzers that the NNGA special didn’t focus on that much. If it were focused on them trying to bring the colorful life back to Mixopolis, rather than some minor background characters that we don’t even know about(or care about), I think the special would’ve turned out better. But hey what can you do.
And that officially wraps up the franchise as a whole. The last yearly set of Mixels was admittedly the weakest of the three. I certainly admire the experimentation it had this time around where they came up with plenty of creative and fun concepts for mixels. It’s just that many of them didn’t have the same whacky and interesting personalities that the first two volumes did so well at. And the fact that they didn’t get to have that much screentime in the show really doesn’t help them to leave the biggest impact on me.
But for all its faults, I still consider this to be a really good batch. And even though the LEGO series has unfortunately discontinued, I am at least glad that the franchise never oversaturated itself and overstayed its welcome.

MF Day #??? NIXELS
Lastly we have Scre- wha…wait a minute, this doesn’t look right. Where’s the color? Why can’t I see the Mixel? And what’s with all these little cubic sharp-toothed critters?
Oh shmixel, I hope the TV isn’t broken! I’ll have to look into it… Sorry for this inconvenience guys, something must’ve caused the picture to look all dull and messed up. Just give me some time to fix it, this might a while…

MF Day #80: Spinza
Out of all the Nindjas in the group, Spinza is the one who looks most similar to a Flexer mixel. I find it funny how some people referred the nindjas to be Flexer mixels in disguise, when really they just feel like their own tribe with their own distinct styles in their designs. I think it’s just the orange and black color palate that draws that comparison, but not only to they utilize the colors different enough to make them stand out from the Flexers, but it also feels pretty fitting for them, brings off some tiger-like vibes which I think is a cool look. And I think Spinza here especially pulls off that look very well.

MF Day #79: Gobbol
This one is pretty simple, a living dumpster. I like what they did with his upper mouth being the opening and closing covers, and that’s about it. There’s not really too much to talk about this Gobbol, he’s pretty good for what he is, but isn't one of the biggest standouts of this wave to me. But I did like how they utilized his cameo to make a slight contribute to the plot of “Nixel, Nixel go Away”, and I find it kinda funny that nobody even acknowledges him.
