not to be emo about epic on main but I’m thinking about all the character arcs we’ve seen because of the project wrapping up with the Ithaca saga today(spoilers). Odysseus learning to be ruthless, Athena coming around to wanting to forgive, Penelope is forgiving Odysseus for the ruthlessness, Telemachus seems like he’s where Odysseus started but with Athena pushing more for forgiveness and with Poseidon terrified of Odysseus maybe he won’t be all ruthlessness. I’m just thinking about how all of the endings are different. No one had the same lesson to learn from their experiences. I think the main theme of epic might not be just ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves. It’s the lesson Odysseus learns and I think that that’s definitely something that can apply sometimes. But I think epic is more about, at least in terms of the ruthlessness theme, how everyone has different experiences and they all teach different lessons. No one life is gonna have the same life philosophy that makes sense, there’s gonna be differences and we see why and how that works and how that’s okay. Athena learns forgiveness, Odysseus learns ruthlessness, Telemachus will learn something else, Poseidon learns forgiveness and that mortals also have strong feelings and reputations(?), we don’t actually see Penelope for very long so we don’t really have any idea what she learned from her experiences but I imagine it’s not the same as ody and Athena. Everyone learns a lesson and it’s all different from each other and that makes sense, that’s okay. Life isn’t one size fits all, what works for Odysseus won’t work for Athena. That’s how it’s supposed to be. Specific life philosophies are a result of life experiences and will not be the same for everyone. of course this is just one interpretation and focused on one aspect of epic. we could of course talk about love and I have feelings and thoughts about Would You Fall In Love With Me Again in contrast to I’m Not Sorry For Loving You. I will admit that the titles feeling similar is what is bringing this comparison on but both of them exhibit this feeling of unrelenting love. we can discuss what’s going on with calypso and if she really loves him or all that jazz but just assuming that she actually loves him for a minute. both of these women hear about Odysseus doing awful thing and decide to fall in love with him anyway. But Odysseus loves Penelope and that is what makes all the difference. just if we give calypso a sympathetic reading, I think something interesting will happen with the themes. I mean both Penelope and calypso say “you’re mine” to Odysseus at some point, there’s gotta be something going on with those two characters as foils. that said, I do understand not giving calypso a sympathetic reading. which might actually bring up interesting parallels between Penelope and Odysseus where they both spent a significant amount of time being pressured and at the very least threatened with sa to betray the other and rule an island with someone else. very interesting parallels that you’ll probably find me ranting about here again in both interpretations of calypso’s character and what exactly happened on the island. but anyway happy Ithaca saga day everyone

Crackpot theory time
*climbs on a wooden box*
Vernestra gave the order about whatever happened in Brendok. She is very fast to bury any attempt to alert higher authorities of what happened. And she is mad at Sol for not telling her Mae (a witness, maybe) may have survived.
Maybe she ordered to take both twins? Maybe she wanted to eradicate the Coven for being unregulated Force users? The Coven would have been gathered in council, making them easy targets to being shot by space ship weapons (which could have caused the level of destruction seen). Later, she realized it was a bad call, and buried it. No one knew what happened but the Jedi who carried out her order, and they would have no interest in telling.
But her Padawan heard it, and that got him distrustful . Because if the Jedi could just kill people without consequences, just because they didn't use the force like them, what would stop them from killing him for knowing too much?
And then, Vernestra tried.
And that did it. He went to the dark side.
Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.

while everybody was talking about this:
Tumblr media
I took a look at this:
Tumblr media
and yes some of it is funny filler text (or maybe lore important i haven't really watched a starkid before), there are also other things.
some of this is hard to read, so some is not there.
words in [] are maybe but not absolutely sure, --- is something missing, but rest should be good.
READ:
ZOEY CHAMBERS (Henrietta) is humbled beyond words to be part of this groundbreaking production. Zoey has been entertaining audiences for years with her portrayal of badass girl-bosses like Sandy from Grease and Fantine from Les Miserables. Zoey would like to thank her brother, Zack for giving her the acting bug all the way back in third grade! It's ironic that Zack thought he was the actor of the family, but Zoey would go on to completely overshadow him in every way. Sucks to suck, doesn't it, Zachary! Zoey would also like to thank her roommate and fellow cast member Hailey! hailey is perfectly cast in her small and inconsequential part. The role of Marge is so uninteresting and one dimensional that it almost masks Hailey's limited range as an actress, as well as other flaws, such as not being pretty enough to pull off an ingènue. Enjoy the show and be sure to check out Zoey's Only Fans for spicy pics[, JOIs], and other content!
HAILEY DILMORE (Marge) is so lucky to be a part of the best cast in the world! She has no idea how she managed to worm her way into this talented group of ladies. You may recognise Hailey as a Pink Lady from Grease or Disciple #3 from Godspell. Hailey would like to thank her fellow cast member Zoey Chambers. Zoey has been an inspiration, a mentor, and above all a friend. She'd also like to thank her parents and her dog, Walter. Also, she'd like to apologize to the cast once again for blowing up the bathroom ----- ---- --- during rehearsals. ----- ----- ----- ----- made it stink so bad that everyone had to cross the street to use the one in Bank of America. She really doesn't know what's happening to her bowels. She is goint to the doctor after the show closes to get everything sorted out. Enjoy the show!
RUTH FLEMING (Secretary #4) is a fucking ----- for her acting -----! This is the best thing that's ever happened to him, I mean, her. Ruth [did] the [lights] for the school's shitty production of The Barbeque Monologues and was the Assistant Stage Manager for The Wizard of Oz… it sucked. She got bullied and excluded by the whole cast even though her job is just as important as theirs. More important, actually! Being in the cast is way better. They don't have to think of an excuse to barge into the dressing rooms. You can just walk right in! Everybody takes off their shirts and ------------------ ------------------ she's ----------. Anyway, Ruth doesn't wanna thank anybody because nobody did anything for her.
CASSANDRA KING (Eve) is [thrilled] to be present with you fellow ------- in these fleeting moments. Everything has transpired exactly as the lights in the sky foretold. Cassie had never been a believer in prophecy or the ethereal [spaces between]… but she -----------------. She no longer fears the visions, or the -------- come with their descent. Pain is the price of knowledge. Pain is the language that [unites]. the [children] of Az----- no matter which ---------- they may --------- from. Cassie wants to seee what lies at the end of the ---- ---. She's ready for the [face of the] --- screaming in the dark. How did she find herself -----? The lights [gave her] ------. And so she ---- for [guidance]. Cassie would like to thank her boyfriend, Chris.

I'm not sure I like Magic for Liars, but the difference between theoretically possible and practically possible and the way that works into the revelation fascinated me and has stuck with me.
It doesn't tell us much about the rules for magic, and their descriptions make it sound like explaining how it feels is a lot like explaining colors to a blind person (or the force to non force-users since I'm on a clone wars kick), but from what they do say it's clear this is a hard magic system with a lot of rules and limitations. At least some of those limitations aren't about the magic, but about the people.
Healing takes A LOT of practice to do well as well as power, and I'm guessing a chunk of that training is about ethics, and the magic to heal fatal aggressive diseases does exist. But actually DOING it requires you to stay awake for days doing incredibly detailed work while keeping them alive without ever stopping and because of the way that healing magic works, literally taking someone apart to find the damage/infection, you CANNOT STOP. And if you miss anything, then like any infection/disease, it will come back.
If you've ever spent hours doing monotonous numerical work, imagine doing it on that scale. And if you mess up someone dies.
That particular kind of healing isn't impossible because of the rules of magic. It's impossible because no one can stay awake for days doing that and not mess up somewhere.
And part of what gets me about our killer here (I'll avoid naming names on the off chance someone sees this and reads the book) is that they talk like they believe they pulled this magic off, that the rules of magic are all invented, that they proved this. But they've proved everyone right. The magic is there, but so are the human limitations. And maybe when they say they were right they're trying to convince themselves, but they seem deluded.
Some of what gets me is that the healing is cool if gross, and it's such a clear difference between "magic has limitations" and "people have limitations" that I don't see put so explicitly a lot, but part of it is also the killer saying over and over that they succeeded and no. You failed. You proved everyone who said it can't be done right.
And if someone proves them wrong, it won't have been you.

Ferrari was - intense. So, so, so good. Adam nailed every second. Penelope was amazing. And I’m not a fan of Shailene, but she was REALLY good.
Might have nightmares after the car racing tho -from that scene. If you know, you know…. 😱😳 (though hot damn, Dempsey 😍)
Michael Mann pulls all the punches!

//a little warning because I'm gonna talk a bit about Fionna and Cake so there might be spoilers\\
okay so I found out that there was two new episodes of the show
got to find out what happen to Simon and all that stuff
but there one thing I gotta know
why did it say season 1 if the show was only lasting for 10 episodes?
unless they was gonna add another season later on but decided to ended there with the last episode
I love the ending, I really do but come on that was too short for me
like will Fionna and Cake see Simon again or Simon find away to visit them I mean come on it can't just end like that in my option
that's all I'm gonna say so people will know what I'm talking about after seeing the new episodes

So, as a parent I watch toddler shows on occasion (read probably to much to be honest) and while watching Across The Spiderverse, I couldn't help but wonder about the show Spiderman and his Amazing friend
If you don't know what I'm talking about it looks like this
Tumblr media
And like, all the characters parental like characters are alive (I don't pay attention enough to know if Uncle Ben is dead in this or referenced at all) and I just can't help but picture Miguel coming confused as hell about the canon events clearly not happening lol
