I liked the first episode more than I expected. It was really funny in the beginning.

And Off does an amazing job playing an unreasonable mean character, but one everyone knows from work. Im excited what the series has in store for him (and Ryan). Ryan surprised me a bit, I didnt expect him to be this confused and quiet, but its a cool dynamic. And overal the whole group was cute together. The trailer seemed to suggest they all sit in their own departments and have their own adventures. So I'm happy they interact that much and I hope they really become friends. Cant wait for next week!

I liked it too! so far it's exactly what I expected which is a colorful mix of characters and stories rather than your typical offgun-centric show which is nice for a change.

Ryan is a weird little dude lmao he threw me off guard a bit, mostly because he seems a bit too passive and I don't really get what his deal is most of the time lol. but anyway I like the film theme, it reminds me of TOL and gives me flashbacks to university haha so that's nice. I also like the group dynamic, they all seem to have their quirks which makes them likable and they're just a very good constellation 🥹

#listen. listen to me #whenever i see people imagining an adaptation of this book it's all like #oh dark academia deeply serious tone everyone in suits dark trees with mist over them buildings with pillars romanticized dialogue #what about unhinged pretentious narration with a terrible lack of self awareness juxtaposed with the actual events of the story #an adaptation of the secret history should be a lot of things but one of those things is funny humorous satirical #at the end of the day. it's just liberal arts college in the 80s #the classics students are outliers #camilla has a blunt bob and wears exquisitely tailored suits but all the other girls at this school are like judy poovey #please hear my message. please say this makes sense.#i'm not saying it can't look beautiful and have emotional moments bc the book certainly does #but also. when you really break down what happens in this novel it becomes clear that all the main characters are deeply unserious #they're my friends tho. i'm friends with them #that's all
