One of my personal favourites.
Luz is Camila and Belos’ daughter, and a budding powerhouse, unfortunately she has a horrible time controlling her magic. Thankfully, she has her mom, her actually nice dad, her ex-outlaw mentor, and her new friends to help her become the best Princess she can be!
Oh, and I don’t own this. All credit goes to the creators.

Okay, I saw someone say that Nimona, while being good representation, “didn’t take the big step forward in queer rep that everyone says it did”.
That is wrong. So wrong, my dude.
Yes, an explicit and open queer relationship in children’s cartoons is not new, per ce. Hell, just this year, two popular kids’ cartoons had the main character in an open, adorable, plot-based queer romance. But this is different for a few reasons.
Reason number one, it isn’t left in suspense. Yes, they had that split for three odd weeks, but they started the film as a couple. One of the very first scenes is them together as a couple, Ambrosius saying he loves Ballister, them holding hands, Ballister leaning on Ambrosius’ shoulder. Ambrosius says he loves Ballister three times during the film, and none of them are any more than halfway in. It’s very clear, from their very first interaction, that they are an established relationship, which isn’t something I’ve seen...at all in other animation.
Secondly, they are the plot. Ambrosius not believing Ballister, Ambrosius cutting off Ballister’s arm, Ballister trying to get the video to Ambrosius - this is what drives the plot. In any other children’s animation with queer relationships, the relationship is not the main focus. Even The Owl House, which is so amazing with its constant representation, would still make sense if Luz and Amity never happened. But Nimona’s plot wouldn’t make sense without Ballister and Ambrosius’ relationship. It, quite simply, can’t be erased. It could work as a friendship, yes, but that’s the point. They could have just been two close friends that fell on opposite sides of a fight, but they weren’t. They were two lovers that fell on opposite sides of a fight.
Thirdly, they aren’t sanitized for “family viewing”. An emerging trend in children’s animation is to only have mlm relationships as fathers to make them seem more “family friendly”. With the exception of Kipo, there really isn’t many tv shows or films that places light upon an mlm relationship. And if it does, it'll be a teen relationship because teenagers being queer tends to come across as less “dirty” and more “innocent”. But Goldenheart is none of these things. They are adults without the mollifying aspect of having a family. And on top of that, they fight. They wield swords and they get bloody and they shoot at things and get angry and yell. They aren’t “clean” and “innocent”.
As well as this, they are in a film. Films are far more accessible than tv shows. You have to watch twenty seven episodes before Lumity in toh is canon. Troy kisses Benson on the eleventh episode of Kipo. And there are two hundred and eighty three episodes of Adventure Time before Marceline and Bonnie kiss. But with a film, the queerness is much more forward - especially in Nimona, where it’s literally the second scene. Animated films hardly ever display queer relationships, but Nimona did.
Finally - they aren’t perfect. I don’t know about you, but three weeks of thinking your boyfriend/maybe ex is a murderer? Doesn’t sound like a healthy few weeks to me. I have only seen big relationship arguments portrayed in straight relationships in cartoons - think Star Vs The Forces Of Evil - whereas queer relationships either have the massive fight prior to being canonically gay - She Ra - or have conflict, not arguments, that are dealt with quickly - Dead End/The Owl House. But Goldenheart? Goldenheart suffers. Their relationship is pushed to such extreme boundaries as for them to be pretty much exes throughout most of the movie. And yet, they are clearly healthy, happy and very much in love at the end.
TL;DR - Nimona is amazing with the queer representation, and it is a milestone for LGBTQ+ cartoons. Not only is the relationship romantic for the entire movie, the plot is driven by Ambrosius and Ballister’s sort-of-break-up. In short, they are treated the same way straight people are. They have flaws, they have massive arguments, they have plot importance, they have backstory. They are in love. And that’s what matters more than anything else.

so, you've heard shows be recommended because they had gay characters. you don't really know what they're actually about though, and don't know if they'd be something you'd be into and are worried about spoilers. here's spoiler free plot summaries of em!
Tumblr media
The Owl House
The Owl House starts out as a typical teenage girl goes into a fantasy realm story, but with a twist. Actions have consequences. The protagonist is a girl named Luz Noceda, who was being sent to a camp to make her behave normally by her mother after causing too much trouble at school. She ends up finding a place she's always dreamed of: a fantasy world. A world where everyone's so much weirder than she is. And she thinks, maybe if I don't belong out there, maybe people will like me here. Maybe I can be special here.
It's a story about found family, propaganda, erased history, living with disability, religious trauma, and neurodivergence. It's fundamentally a show about people who's brains work differently finding each other and making a family that treats them right. Definitely my favorite of the ones on this list. It's about people who've been oppressed being pissed about it and about finding yourself again after giving up on everyone around you for so long. It's basically a show about being a minority and trying to be understood and to understand yourself in the process. It's about growing up neurodivergent and how isolating it feels and figuring yourself out. It's about repairing broken relationships and parents who fuck up. And it's just. Such a love letter to anyone who was the weird kid in school. It's sad and heartbreaking and also so hopeful, and it's wonderful.
Content warnings: Abuse, Death, Grief, Animal Death, Suicidal thoughts, Vague suicide attempts, Depression, blink and you'll miss it s/h, body horror, religious trauma
Tumblr media
She Ra and the Princesses Of Power
Adora was raised in the Horde since she was a baby, being fed propaganda about how cruel the princesses were. After learning how the horde actually was, though, she defects. But there's one problem. Her best friend, Catra, stays behind. Adora finds a sword that can transform her into She Ra, and might be the key to figuring out who she really is, while Catra takes her place as force captain.
It's a story about abuse, at the end of the day. Adora and Catra were stuck in a golden child and scapegoat dynamic, despite how much they care about each other. This leads to them knowing everything about each other but not understanding it. There's a fundamental disconnect between them, because both of their traumas are completely different. They have complete misconceptions about each other. Even in their initial split, they both have completely different perceptions of what's going on and why the other is upset. It's not a story about magic princesses, it's about the cycle of abuse and what makes it so complicated. Does it have flaws? Yeah. But ultimately I really really enjoy it, and when it does something right it does something RIGHT. Get through season one, it starts kids show-y but it gets very good during later s1.
Content warnings: Abuse (obviously), body horror, gaslighting (and I mean actual gaslighting, not what the Internet thinks gaslighting is), suicide, depression, flashing lights and eyestrain during the finale
Tumblr media
Steven Universe
Steven Universe is a sins of the father story. Steven is the son of the leader of the rebel group The Crystal Gems, who's name was Rose Quartz. He navigates the confusion of being half gem and half human, as well as trying to figure out the mess of the rebellion and what his mother left behind. He's constantly in her shadow, for better or for worse.
It's a story about grief. How it impacts relationships, how it taints history, how it impacts family. It has some definite flaws, but ultimately it's about very flawed people who have lost so many people in their life trying to cope with it. Trying to handle what they lost and trying to adjust to life without them. It's about how expectations fuck a kid up and about agency and just a show about complicated relationships in general, at the end of the day. Also, it has some FANTASTIC music.
Content warnings: Grief, Abuse, body horror, very creepy people I don't know how to tag, heavy allegories for homophobia
Tumblr media
Nimona
Nimona is a story about a guy who gets framed for murder. His name is Ballister Boldheart, a commoner who hoped to become a knight. It seemed everyone was waiting to watch him fail, so it was no surprise when he was the immediate target. Heavily injured and away from the man he loves, he's left alone trying to figure out a way to prove his innocence- until a strange kid comes into his life. This kids name is Nimona, and while he is intent on proving his innocence, she gave up on being anything but a villain a long time ago.
It's about deconstructing the model minority myth, trans rage, propaganda, and with a healthy dose of "FUCK the police".
Content warnings: Heavy injury, on screen suicide attempt, flashing lights
feel free to add more shows! just remember to keep the summaries as spoiler free as you can and add content warnings!

[ID from alt for readability: a series of textpost memes based off screenshots from The Owl House.

Hunter lying face-first in the dirt in Eclipse Lake, with a text post that reads: "sorry if i'm bad at things i was just invented today. by a mad scientest".

Any thoughts on the TOH pitch bible and pilot episode that were leaked? Anything you thought it was better than in the final product, or that the final product improved on?
Here is the pilot episode along with a lot of other Disney shows for those that missed it.
And the pitch bible
There were quite a few things I liked about the pilot better: the biggest being that Luz is actually bullied for her interests instead of pulling dangerous stunts that just make her look bad. Also, there's actual bigotry against humans in the Boiling Isles! Luz has to wear a disguise when sneaking into witch school! Lilith is more of a threat in this pilot than she was in the show! Luz and Eda feel more natural in the pilot; Eda still proclaims herself as the most powerful witch in the isles but it's obviously her ego talking while it's taken more seriously in the show. It feels like it's having more fun with itself instead of having an air of self importance.
A few things the actual show did better: Luz entering the Demon Realm. In the pilot, she just stumbles into it after trying to return Amity's passport (who is still a witch just attending a human high school for some reason). Luz trying to get her book back from Owlbert and being led directly to Eda works better for her character and the themes of the show. Also, in the pilot, Eda could just easily conjure a door to the human realm, which lowers the stakes a bit.
As for the pitch bible, it certainly is ambitious with how its world is set up: beta Belos was called Obron and was a councilor to the real ruler of the world, Emperor Pupa, who is currently in larval form and only its councilor's can understand what it's saying. Naturally, Obron is the real power behind the throne and plans on invading the human realm by possessing the Titan's body and he apparently needs a human soul to do that...
Yeah, I can see why this was simplified in the final version.
I do like some of the designs in the pitch bible better. For example, here's Willow, a.k.a. Paulina:
Tumblr media
Here's Tibbles:
Tumblr media
And lastly, even though everyone says this is beta Hunter, look me in the eyes and tell me that's not Baby Philip "Kill All Witches" Wittebane:
Tumblr media
Come on, red outfit, blue eyes, hatred of witches, really hundreds of years old, the FREAKIN' DAGGER/SWORD.
That's a proto-Philip who was split into 3 characters, he's not simply beta Hunter.
Overall, both the pitch bible and the pilot are a mixed bag; the pitch bible has some overly ambitious ideas that (thankfully) became more grounded, but it also has more interesting character designs. The pilot has a lot going on in a mere 20 minutes but it's more fun to watch imo simply because it's not taking itself too seriously.
Despite all of these what-ifs, a show is only as good as how well it carries out its ideas. Toh has a lot of creativity and compelling concepts but its biggest struggle was always in its execution.
(P.S. any accusations that Disney made Dana add Hexside are now null and void because both the pitch bible and pilot had Lilith as the Headmaster of Amity's magic school)

There’s some weird dissonance reading Leosagi fics first before watching Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles. I mean it, I enjoyed the fics, truly. But some of them made Yuichi more like Miyamoto Usagi than himself (and I’m not saying it’s a bad thing). It’s just funny after finishing 2 seasons of SRTUC because:
While Miyamoto Usagi has a resting bitch face, Yuichi did NOT inherit it. Yuichi has a resting space face when he’s not getting excited about his ancestor or Yokai.
Tumblr media
2. He wants to be like his ancestor so bad, but he’s just too wholesome.
Tumblr media
3. A lot of people have already said this in a lot of posts, but dude is a disaster (affectionate):
Whooping and swinging his sword and yelling he doesn’t need a sensei after making a promise to his auntie that he would find one and treat the sword with respect.
Almost got run over by heavy traffic (and is not aware of it)
Pissed off every single one of his would-be friends who were ready to beat him up.
Was given a wide selection of mystical weapons, and ended up with a yoyo because he got distracted by it.
AND went to jail. That’s just his first day in Neo Edo.
He is not easily distracted, he's "momentarily focused" on other things ("oh look, a bird!")
Went into a self-induced drug trip after trying so hard to meditate
Tumblr media
4. While Yuichi can be spacey and distractible, he’s already a skilled swordsman with good instincts and reflexes. What he lacked was experience and something to temper his one-track mind.
5. When the show said he’s “all ears, no brain,” they meant it. Guy keeps syrup packets in his pockets so that he’s always prepared. (for desserts, ig)
6. “All ears, no brain,” was said within his hearing range and it just went through his head because he’s too excited about fighting yokai like his great-great-greatx grandpa.
7. Has the selfishness and self-centeredness of someone with ADHD (and I’m not saying that’s a bad thing). He can be so caught up in wanting to be a hero, he would sometimes not listen to his friends, or hog the mission for a chance to be remembered for a thousand years.
8. He wants to be the main character so bad:
Jumped into conclusions with Gen and made a wanted person escape.
Attacks yokai on sight to live out his fantasy of being like Miyamoto Usagi
Tries to pilot a giant robot and did well for 1.5 seconds.
Risks his life more than once by making contact with a giant magic crystal that could’ve burned him alive with too much power.
He’s goddamn lucky his show is for a younger audience or he’d be traumatized along with Leo (and his bros) from rottmnt, Luz from TOH, and MK from Lego Monkie Kid.
9. Likes one-liners because it’s like in his comics/manga of his greatx grandpa. (”Put down the pig, or I’ll put down the hurt -wait, I can do better than that.”)
10. But yeah, all of that and he’s still a polite and considerate kid who sincerely wants to help people and his friends and will do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do.
Saves the three people who were going to beat him up.
Got delighted when the three people who were ready to beat him up were there to rescue him. (”Are we friends now? :D”)
Wants to hug them in the first hour of meeting them.
Somehow convinced one of the most terrifying yokai to be his sensei.
Would babble about yokai in the middle of fighting one.
Risks the city for an alien.
Like I know some people can’t stand its animation. It’s not the best, but it’s not bad either. Anyway, this is the Yuichi Usagi that I have known from the show and I’m glad I’ve met him.

GENSHIN WITH A TEEN!CREATOR WHO IS LIKE LUZ NOCEDA PART THREE
harpy hare, where have you buried all your children?
TW: gn reader, teenager reader (ALL IS PLATONIC),maybe sm angst and a lot of spoilers abut the archons missions, reader is depressed and neurodivergent, sorry about the bad grammar
part two :D
Tumblr media
Before falling, you remembered. You were alive.
Not like everybody, not like those of your kind. You were like them, but not enough to be one of them.
You didn't talked like them, your tonge wasn't as similar as them. You didn't looked like them, your body wasn't as similar as them.
You didn't existed like them, your whole life wasn't as similar as them.
You were different, so different to be fair.
And now a magical egg is trying to talk to you, it didn't help, at all.
"Uhm, creator? the shinny egg asked, surrounding your hands with it little black eyes staring at your traumatize soul.
You were lost on an alley of the city you arrived, you managed to scape the young adults chasing you and hide on a very dark and cold place.
"Creator you look pale, you must ask for help" it said.
"They tried to kill me!"
"No? They tried to take you down!"
"ISN'T THAT THE SAME THING?!"
So yeah, the egg you saved to be cooked by those people with... totally not horrible uniforms it was a magical egg!
Who talks, and probably it's more intelligent than you
Lost on a city that never appered in any of the maps you buy (just to put on your walls bcs it looked cool), you decided to grabe a cape you found on a box and wait until night.
When you asked for the egg name (does it has to have one?), it said that you it had to earn it, whatever that means
"You sure you want to stay here, creator (Y/n)? You can asked for a place to rest to anyone" the egg whispered on your chest, you hugging it to reach the warm it let.
"What do you mean?!, I can't just asked to anyone to let me go inside their house! they probably would call the cops or... whatever the cops are on this place and asked me for my parents for them to solve the troube I put myself into and..." you stoped your panic start to looked at the little being.
It was so calm, that little shi-
"How did you just call me?"
"(Y/n)? But that's your name isn't it!" it smiled (or tried your didn't know if eggs can actually smile)
"No, the other thing", the moon almost reached its highest point, you frowned at the magical stuff.
"Creator?" it asked, the memories of that reclect of yours at the lake crashed on your head.
"THERE THEY ARE!" you hear the same voice that was screaming at you some hours ago at your back.
"Crap!" you cried, getting under his legs in his attempt to catch you, running from those back him.
The citizen looked at you with confusion and fear, the only thing the were seeing was the knight of favonious trying to catch a teen with a rare shell.
You, a young neurodivergent; Not quite American, an LGBT teenager with a 0 in PE was running from 10 uniformed people with iron and swords who probably had many years of training to catch dangerous people… and you were winning.
Wow, adrenaline does miracles.
"They're scaping, don't lose them again" one of them shout, you were crying and hugging the egg very hard.
"Creator, over that way!" the egg said to you.
"What way?!" you couldn't breath or think correctly.
"That wa- Oh wait, were lost"
"What do you me-" you crashed into something, rather someone.
The guard grabbed you by the neck, you covered the egg with your clothes the best you could. The blow was so strong that little by little it left you unconscious.
Dang.

Think Luz would ever show her kids any of her old video diaries? Yeah some of them are sad and personal and best kept secret, but I think they’d get a kick out of the one where Luz tried cutting her hair with a sword.
I think so!!!!! They’d love them

I absolutely hate the argument that Luz can be excused for her actions and people have no right to dislike her just because she’s neurodivergent. I struggled immensely in school both academically and socially in large to my own “neurodivergence”-can I just say I hate that word-but I was never so stupid as to think about bringing live animals and fireworks inside my school. The fact that Luz, the 14-year-old daughter of a veterinarian, saw a bunch of living, breathing animals and thought-‘yeah, I’m gonna use those as props! My book report is gonna be so cool! I surely can’t just use rubber snakes!’ Which probably why they were so damn aggressive! Because snakes only really bite and attack when they’re threatened, or stressed, or pissed off! Which really does not paint Luz as being a very caring or thoughtful person!
“But that’s the point! She needs to get better and she does!”-No she absolutely fucking does not. Instead of realizing that she can’t just run away and live in fantasy-land, the show again and again reaffirms that Luz can do no wrong, everybody else never should’ve felt angry about her reckless idiocy-because that’s what it is, idiocy-she gets to live out her little fantasy world and do whatever she wants. The way the show acts like the principal giving the summer camp pamphlet was some horrible evil thing, how could anyone do that? B I T CH LUZ IS FUCKING LUCKY that she weren’t expelled or arrested! She brought EXPLOSIVES WITH THE INTENT OF SETTING THEM OFF INSIDE A SCHOOL BUILDING. In an area of mass shoring fears and schools prohibiting anything can looks like or emulates(even if it is just a foam sword or something), Luz really should’ve just taken two seconds to think to at least leave the fireworks. Course at 14 I would think that a person who have the common sense for that to never be a thought.
And no, “neurodivergence” is not an excuse. It pains me when characters in media doing stupid shit and senseless(especially when it gets on the audience’s nerves) gets pinned on having autism or ADHD like it makes it okay, and that the character can’t be blamed or held accountable for it. Why do people hold those with these conditions to such low standards? When this happens, it feels like people are saying, “Yeah, this could’ve easily caused grievous bodily harm or death but they’ve got anxiety and autism, so we can’t be mad, they couldn’t possibly know better because they’re simply not on our level, they’re too stupid to understand!” Hell no. Stop giving excuses! The “I’m literally neurodivergent and a minor” attitude does not work in court!
And maybe if they understood this and actually challenged Luz on being very episodic on learning her lessons and that she did in fact run away to avoid consequences of her actions and reality won’t bend to her interests and she can’t treat everything like it’s a fanfiction instead of beating the dead horse with another dead horse about how Luz ““““helped”””” Belos when all she did was teach him one glyph and got used as bait by someone who she KNOWS tricked her. By that logic Lilith is just as responsible for Belos meeting the Collector as Luz is. Yeah she’s 14 but did it really have to stretch through the entirety of season 3?
Because season 3 is where I officially knew that Luz hadn’t learned a thing. The way the show frames the art teacher giving Luz the side eye like it’s wrong for her to distrust the kid who used the art supplies-that she probably paid out of pocket for-to infest the school with spiders and snakes and then would’ve blown it up if she hadn’t gotten sent to the principal’s office is so out of pocket. She has every right to view Luz with suspicion! People don’t tend to like others who make a mess in their areas with their stuff, shocker. I’ve already said a bit about the summer camp thing, but seriously, a summer camp that teaches teens about mortgages, how to manage a bank account and checkbook, do taxes, etc is literally the best thing Luz could’ve gotten out of that situation. She would’ve learned something many people complain wasn’t taught to them at a young age AND would’ve met people who she could easily befriended. Yeah, it’s boring and Luz probably would’ve checked out of the situation but it’s better than juvie! Also boring stuff is apart of life, it’s part of the way we can live the way we do because everything is easier said than done. Also with Camila, it’s a dumb retcon to have her not understand anime or Luz’s interests in Season 1 and 2 but a secret nerd who just got put down by the man in season 3. Like, Camila had to make a change with Luz, because 14 is not far from 18, and if Luz did do something stupid that ended up being a crime, she could very well be charged as an adult.
Then the whole ‘I just wanna be understood!’ Luz, honey, you’ve been surrounded by people who understand you and don’t get mad when you mess up, even if it’s spectacularly. Your girlfriend literally immediately told you she essentially wanted to spend the rest of her life by your side right after you got revealed as a liar which you promised you wouldn’t do anymore. Your best buds have always been on your side even when you’ve gone behind their backs. Your mom was sending you to that camp bc she had too, even though she originally believed it would expose you to kids with similar interests that could be befriended. And again, her hands were tied, because you were being reckless to the point of danger. But oh wait, it’s all okay now because you’re ‘understood’.
Not finding that happy balance where you can express yourself but not act like an idiot or endanger yourself and others, just some vague ‘understanding’ by an anonymous ‘them’. Do you mean everyone, all the time has to understand you the way Camila, Eda, King, Willow, Gus, Amity and Hunter do? Because that’s not how real life works.
And this isn’t a character hate-though I do hate the way Luz was finished-this is on the writers for not going through with the themes of Fantasy Vs. Reality they had going that could’ve taught Luz that balance and management; which in my personal opinion, would’ve been a better arc for a person with ADHD.

Full Family AU Part Five
Vee practically inhaled the waffles given to her, eating each one served with such intense delight. And as she ate, Luz was, per usual, in her own little world.
"Then after school, we can play 'Pew-Pews and Laser Swords!'" Luz said between bites of waffles. "It's a game I made up, but needs two people to play and Papi is too slow to play it now."
"For now, at least," Manny chimed in. "Still getting my strength back."
"And maybe hold off games for now," Camila suggested. "Especially the one where you run around swinging a plastic laser sword while the other goes 'pew-pew' with a toy ray-gun. Might be too much for our...new guest."
"Vee's not a guest." Luz defended. "She's part of the family!"
Camila and Manny shared a look. "Uh, family's a bit much, Mija," Manny told her.
"But she slept in my room and not the guest room. And she's eating our special waffle breakfast, not our cereal or some toast or--"
"Yes, but, uh, Vee might have a family of her own," Camila said, turning to Vee. "Don't you?"
Vee stopped her eating, fork full of waffles inches away from her mouth as she sat still, her mind in thought. She eventually looked at Camila with a curious expression before asking, "What's a family?"
Camila didn't respond. She was too taken aback by that question. This creature knew how to talk, how to feel, and how to do that...bizarre shapeshifting thing. But it didn't know what a family was?
"A family is what we are!" Luz said, though Camila wasn't entirely sure who Luz included within that "We."
"She's right, actually," Manny tried to explain. "A family is, um, a group of people bound together by blood and love. It's something you're born with or something you can make for yourself. People you love with your whole heart, trust to always be there for you, and you would protect them through thick and thin, no matter what."
Vee looked as though she was digesting that knowledge far more than the waffles she ate. She looked down at her plate with a furrowed brow and played with her fingers.
"I don't...have family..." she muttered, just loud enough for everyone to hear her. And the sound of her tiny, broken voice caused an ache in Camila's heart and a desire to hug that creature--To hug Vee until she stopped hurting.
Thankfully, Luz beat her to it, jumping out of her seat and running to Vee's to give her a tight squeeze.
"Don't worry, Vee..." She said softly. "You have a family now. And it's us. Right?"
Luz smiled at her parents, but they shared another look.
"Come on," Luz whined. "She just said she has no one else. And Papi did just say that family can be something you can make."
"I did just say that, didn't I?" Manny said abashedly.
"How about we save this conversation later tonight?" Camila asked. "Right now, you need to focus on finishing your waffles and getting ready for school."
Luz responded with a pout but still returned to her seat and focused on her food. But Camila still kept her eyes on Vee and how she didn't even touch her food again.

OWL HOUSE ANIMATED TEST LEAKED?!!?!
Tumblr media
ALL RIGHT SO THE ORIGINAL ANIMATED TEST GOT LEAKED?! This is an animated test btw, a proof-of-concept of what TOH could look like, according to the person who posted this; The actual pilot still eludes us!
What we get and hear are more or less what we've already glimpsed and could guess at, just expanded a bit more; Luz wants to learn magic, Eda is skeptical, that sort of thing. What's interesting is that Luz claims King told HER he once knew magic, but based on how the final story went, this was probably one of his made-up delusions. He also has a lot more repressed, built-up anger from being coddled and patronized, which would've been interesting to see...
Tumblr media
I wonder if that trait ended up transferring over to Proto Willow; Or rather, Paulina! I heard someone suggest the spelling is Polina since it's Slavic and TOH is based on Slavic myth, but for now, let's keep it simple. Paulina would def start off the same way as our Willow; Not doing well in magic, and messing up (this time on Luz herself, hilariously), but I presume the idea for her to shift to plant magic as her true calling was still there. Not only do we see this in earlier concept art, but a later bit with one of Paulina's plants harassing Luz. And she still has the issue of glowing green magic that she can't quite control...
We get Prince William, who shows up when Luz mentions the most 'powerful wizards', more on him later. It's generally speculated and agreed that William is a prototypical version of Hunter, so I find it neat that Paulina's name changed to Willow, as William became Hunter...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's a glimpse of the Owl House's original design, as seen in the first proof-of-concept poster released back when the show was announced in 2018, with Eda's shop built into the front of the building! The tower doesn't have a roof, and the giant eye window blinks, which was carried over to the first episode's ending. We have some Spencer Wan concept animations he released a while back, but fully colored and animated... A Luz Doppelgänger seems to have always been an idea, so I guess the creepy puppet is Proto Vee?
Tumblr media
THIS! We have what I suspect to be a prototype version of Emperor Belos, possibly when he was advisor to Emperor Pupa? I'm not sure, but the context, the blue eyes in darkness, the mask... Their location in what seems to be a cathedral, plus the resemblance to this concept art for Belos?
Tumblr media
This is Proto-Belos. Him taking Eda away in what resembles a cathedral seems to indicate that his Christian extremist-leanings were a thing as early as this animated pitch, and what's more...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the stained-glass window behind Luz, we see a portrait of Sir William, complete with that wavy-styled sword that resembles the knife Philip killed Caleb with! This raises so many questions... Is the Sir William we see here the real deal? Was he deposed and put into a slumber by Belos, the way Pupa would've been? And William is the true ruler of the isles?
Tumblr media
Would William have been Belos' brother, his Caleb, hence the round human ears? Why does he look so young, was he de-aged, or is he a clone, a Grimwalker that was abandoned for not being sufficient, and/or discovered in an 'incubation' stage when Luz slapped him awake? I presume this concept of Hunter, who is actually referred to by this name, came later down the line;
Tumblr media
Overall, very fascinating stuff! A better glimpse into the development of Willow, Belos, and Hunter(?) as well as an older idea for King's personality, and of course a better look at the original Owl House design shown in 2018! Brief yet wonderful and to the point, we've seen most of the stuff from this pitch as silent clips or images, but I'm glad to have it as part of a cohesive narrative this time! May we one day find the actual pilot itself...!

What, in your opinion, do the citizens of gravesfield think of Pip and Caleb? Like…what’s their opinion on them?
Well... It's a little hard to put my thoughts together about it briefly, but I'll try XD.
Two orphan kids came to the town. Where their parents? Died, killed, hanged? Maybe these kids some petty thieves (after all, they had to survive somehow before they found work in town). So distrust, suspicion, possibly neglect - first things that came to my mind. And from the "Thanks to them" we know that brothers tried very hard to fit in. I headcanon that witch hunting idea appeared not only because of witch trials that were happening, but also because of that fact or need to fit in. I like to make parallels and think that Wittebanes situation was kinda similar to the Camila and Luz's story, when they moved to the Gravesfield (again what was shown in "Thanks to them" episode). Maybe brothers were some kind of freaks to the citizens, simply because of their habits. As I've read about puritans, for example, playing games/with toys considered useless and a waste of time("God put men on earth to suffer"). And we know from the paintings in "Hollow Mind" that brothers were playing together and Caleb made for Philip his mask and a wooden sword.
Of course in present times we see their statues in Gravesfield so I think that Caleb and Philip were able to "fit in" there after all, at least in a witch hunting aspect. But, again if we make parallels with Camila and Luz, I would like to think that it was a long way for them[Wittebanes] to get the citizens of Gravesfield to think of them as "their people".

MONKEY WRENCH OC LORE DROP TIME
before we start I want to clarify some things I’ll be mentioning in this story which is:
mentions of r4p3, s3xu4l assault, sh, different addictions, and many many mentions of d3ath and g0r3.
Tumblr media
Section 1: Luz Ronin
Luz Ronin. Poisonous soft shell turtle alien, born May 13th in a L.A.W military camp with her twin sister, Lita. Since Lita came out first as a girl, they thought Luz would be a girl as well. Turns out they were wrong, Luz was born intersex, which means she was born with both male and female parts (but her body is more feminine, we’ll get into the turtle species anatomy later on a different post). Now, living in a military camp is not an ideal situation for two babies but their parents SOMEHOW made it work. Different people would take care of the two whenever others couldn’t, for example: Xander (Pops), Kazuki (Papa), Kangas (Sargent), Boaz (Corporal), etc… And when you’re living in a area where these fighters “save” people, your gonna wanna grow up to be them right? And that’s exactly what the twins did. Once they got older they would both train to be fighters but Lita would lean towards the medical side while Luz leaned towards the technical side. There are also four different HARD stages that some soldiers accomplish and earn different tattoos on different parts of their body, the twins only completed one. Now we get to one of the darkest part of Luz’s story. I mentioned a turtle named Boaz. We don’t like him. Why? He did many things to Luz that she did not consent to. This caused her to hate physical touch and get pregnant. She tried being silent about it because she knew if she told everyone, she would be in trouble but at last, her “Pops” found out by her weird vibes. He questioned Boaz about his acts and made him confess, punishing him. As for Luz, she did not keep the baby and aborted it. This wouldn’t be the end of her many problems though. She was in many failed relationships and losing one of her favorites out of all of them due to death. The battles she was fighting in began to grow harder and harder, the stress would soon make her break and caused her to hurt herself on her wrists, her fins, and her thighs. Her twin found out about this immediately and tried to help her to get better and made her take some days off of work. He hurting would calm down a little but not enough. She was forced out of her DREAM JOB. Disappointed in herself, this didn’t help her at all. She the got addicted to some substances that she heard that would help her, which obviously didn’t. But I’m gonna keep things short since it’s all I pile 4 her story and I haven’t sorted stuff out but she does eventually meet shrike & beebs and works with them from time to time.
Now for her fun facts:
* she likes horror/thriller movies like the Human Centipede trilogy, Akira, American Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc…
* she listens to a lot of hip-hop, punk rock, and metal (ex: Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Korn, ICP, Tyler The Creator, Snoop Dogg, etc…)
* she’s bi (uses she/him pronouns)
* loves making tech and other mechanisms
* besides being an absolute piece of crap, she cares deeply about her loved ones
* when she was a teenager she had a scene, emo, punk, and goth phase. She also played guitar and the drums in her spare time to let out energy
* her weapon is a big laser sword that can also turn into many other things (kinda like rottmnt donnie’s bo staff)
that’s all I have for luz 4 now, next lore drop is gonna be abt astro and others

the concept of the reader being the reincarnation of the past love intrests of the golden guards, is really intresting. she’s been killed, murdered, proclaimmed missing, multiple times because of Belos finding out about her secret relationship with the golden guard.
heck, he’s so cruel he probably would’ve had the golden guard kill his lover, by accident of course, maybe using illusion magic making her look like someone else. and im running a sword through her to only realize when its too late..
every y/n death was caused by belos her life cut short along with the other golden guard. after he created hunter, and no y/n showed up belos could finally breathe a sigh of relief.. but she appeared again and the moment hunter saw her he felt an immediate connection.
when belos finds out shes been reincarnated once again, he keeps the hunt for her on the down low. when her luz and hunter end up in belos’ mind. they get seperated but y/n finds stuff on her past selves and even sees a picture memory depicting her murder at thr hands of the golden guard..of thr past
also the reader was from the demon realm but mother left her in human realm
if anyone could write this and tag me that be great cause im stuff in a brace for two weeks then a splint for 2 weeks

HSR LEAK SPOILERS/SPECULATIONS
So ever since Yunli was mentioned in the Cosmodyssey interaction with Jing Yuan and Yanqing, I’ve been obsessively speculating over what she’d be like if she were to appear in the game as an actual character. Leaks that she might actually become playable only fueled my brainrot further and so I created this fan design/character sheet of her. Also I drew her as what she’d look like 3 years in the future because I can’t seem to draw people to look like they’re in their early teens (I’m working on it).
Some misc. notes that I couldn’t fit in on the actual post:
Her color palette, and accessories are based off of the leaked planar set that appears to be based off of the Zhuming
Her skill inflicts the “Fire Hazard” debuff on enemies, which blasts any single target damage dealt to it onto adjacent enemies
Her Ult splash art depicts her in a forge (I’ll get around to drawing it someday)
She has a tendency to judge people based on first impressions (she’s trying to fix that)
Tries very hard to be professional but her clumsiness gets in the way
She’s very close to Huaiyan but is estranged from her parents
She and Yanqing didn’t get along very well at first, but after some shenanigans they become horrifically close besties who are menaces to society (like the Astral Express trio or Luz and Hunter from TOH)
She’s asexual
I’d like to think she becomes Sword Champion a little after Yanqing becomes Sword Champion
She likes asymmetrical clothes
