Five women say they were raped by former Harrods boss Mohamed Al Fayed when they worked at the luxury London department store.
The BBC has heard testimony from more than 20 female ex-employees who say the billionaire, who died last year aged 94, sexually assaulted or raped them.
The documentary and podcast - Al-Fayed: Predator at Harrods - gathered evidence that, during Fayed’s ownership, Harrods not only failed to intervene, but helped cover up abuse allegations.
Harrods’ current owners said they were “utterly appalled” by the allegations and that his victims had been failed - for which the store sincerely apologised.
“The spider’s web of corruption and abuse in this company was unbelievable and very dark,” says barrister Bruce Drummond, from a legal team representing a number of the women.
Since this article was first published, more former Harrods employees have contacted the BBC saying Mohammed Al Fayed assaulted them.
Warning: this story contains details some may find distressing.
The incidents took place in London, Paris, St Tropez and Abu Dhabi.
“I made it obvious that I didn't want that to happen. I did not give consent. I just wanted it to be over,” says one of the women, who says Fayed raped her at his Park Lane apartment.
Another woman says she was a teenager when he raped her at the Mayfair address.
“Mohamed Al Fayed was a monster, a sexual predator with no moral compass whatsoever,” she says, adding that all the staff at Harrods were his “playthings”.
“We were all so scared. He actively cultivated fear. If he said ‘jump’ employees would ask ‘how high’.”
Fayed faced sexual assault claims while he was alive, but these allegations are of unprecedented scale and seriousness. The BBC believes many more women may have been assaulted.
'Fayed was vile'
Fayed's entrepreneurial career began on the streets of Alexandria, Egypt, where he hawked fizzy drinks to passers-by. But it was his marriage to the sister of a millionaire Saudi arms dealer that helped him forge new connections and build a business empire.
He moved to the UK in 1974 and was already a well-known public figure when he took over Harrods in 1985. In the 1990s and 2000s, he would regularly appear as a guest on prime-time TV chat and entertainment shows.
Meanwhile, Fayed - whose son Dodi was killed in a car crash alongside Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1997 - has become known to a new generation through the two most recent Netflix series of The Crown.
But the women we have spoken to say his portrayal as pleasant and gregarious was far from the truth.
“He was vile,” says one of the women, Sophia, who worked as his personal assistant from 1988 to 1991. She says he tried to rape her more than once.
“That makes me angry, people shouldn't remember him like that. It's not how he was.”
Some of the women waived, or partially waived, their right to anonymity to be filmed - and the BBC agreed not to use surnames. Others chose to remain anonymous. Put together, their testimonies reveal a pattern of predatory behaviour and sexual abuse by Fayed.
The Harrods owner would regularly tour the department store's vast sales floors and identify young female assistants he found attractive, who would then be promoted to work in his offices upstairs - former staff, male and female, told us.
The assaults would be carried out in Harrods’ offices, in Fayed's London apartment, or on foreign trips - often in Paris at the Ritz hotel, which he also owned, or his nearby Villa Windsor property.
At Harrods, other former staff members told us it was clear what was happening.
“We all watched each other walk through that door thinking, ‘you poor girl, it's you today’ and feeling utterly powerless to stop it,” Alice, not her real name, says.
'He raped me'
Rachel, not her real name, worked as a personal assistant in Harrods in the 1990s.
One night after work, she says she was called to his luxury apartment, in a large block on Park Lane overlooking London's Hyde Park. The building was protected by security staff and had an on-site office staffed by Harrods employees.
Rachel says Fayed asked her to sit on his bed and then put his hand on her leg, making it clear what he wanted.
“I remember feeling his body on me, the weight of him. Just hearing him make these noises. And… just going somewhere else in my head.
“He raped me.”
The BBC has spoken to 13 women who say Fayed sexually assaulted them at 60 Park Lane. Four of them, including Rachel, say they were raped.
Sophia, who says she was sexually assaulted, described the whole situation as an inescapable nightmare.
“I couldn't leave. I didn’t have a [family] home to go back to, I had to pay rent,” she says. “I knew I had to go through this and I didn’t want to. It was horrible and my head was scrambled.”
Gemma, who worked as one of Fayed’s personal assistants between 2007-09, says his behaviour became more frightening during work trips abroad.
She says it culminated in her being raped at Villa Windsor in Paris's Bois de Boulogne - a former home, post-abdication, of King Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson.
Gemma says she woke up startled in her bedroom. Fayed was next to her bed wearing just a silk dressing gown. He then tried to get into bed with her.
“I told him, ‘no, I don't want you to’. And he proceeded to just keep trying to get in the bed, at which point he was kind of on top of me and [I] really couldn't move anywhere.
“I was kind of face down on the bed and he just pressed himself on me.”
She says after Fayed raped her she cried, while he got up and told her aggressively to wash herself with Dettol.
“Obviously he wanted me to erase any trace of him being anywhere near me,” she explains.
Eight other women have also told us they were sexually assaulted by Fayed at his properties in Paris. Five women described the assaults as an attempted rape.
'Open secret'
“The abuse of women, I was aware of it when I was on the shop floor," says Tony Leeming, a Harrods department manager from 1994 to 2004. It “wasn't even a secret”, recalls Mr Leeming, who says he did not know about more serious allegations of assault or rape.
"And I think if I knew, everybody knew. Anyone who says they didn't are lying, I'm sorry".
Mr Leeming's testimony is backed up by former members of Fayed's security team.
“We were aware that he had this very strong interest in young girls,” says Eamon Coyle, who joined Harrods in 1979 as a store detective, then became deputy director of security from 1989-95.
Meanwhile Steve, who does not want us to use his surname, worked for the billionaire between 1994-95. He told us that security staff “did know that certain things were happening to certain female employees at Harrods and Park Lane”.
Many of the women told us that when they began working directly for Fayed they underwent medicals - including invasive sexual health tests carried out by doctors.
This was presented as a perk, the women told us, but many did not see their own results - even though they were sent to Fayed.
“There is no benefit to anybody knowing what my sexual health is, unless you're planning to sleep with somebody, which I find quite chilling now,” says Katherine, who was an executive assistant in 2005.
'Culture of fear'
All the women we spoke to described having felt intimidated at work - which had made it difficult for them to speak out.
Sarah, not her real name, explained: “There was most definitely a culture of fear across the whole store - from the lowliest of the low, to the most senior person.”
Others told us they believed the phones in Harrods had been tapped - and that women had been scared of talking to each other about Fayed’s abuse, fearing they were being filmed by hidden cameras.
The ex-deputy director of security, Eamon Coyle, confirmed this - explaining how part of his job was to listen to tapes of recorded calls. Cameras that could record had also been installed throughout the store, he said, including in the executive suites.
“He [Fayed] bugged everybody that he wanted to bug.”
Harrods told the BBC in a statement these had been the actions of an individual “intent on abusing his power” which it condemned in the strongest terms.
It said: “The Harrods of today is a very different organisation to the one owned and controlled by Al Fayed between 1985 and 2010, it is one that seeks to put the welfare of our employees at the heart of everything we do.”
There were a number of attempts to expose Fayed before his death - notably by Vanity Fair in 1995 - with an article alleging racism, staff surveillance and sexual misconduct. This sparked a libel lawsuit.
Mohamed Al Fayed later agreed to drop the case as long as all the further evidence the magazine had gathered of his sexual misconduct in preparation for a trial was locked away. Fayed’s settlement was negotiated by a senior Harrods executive.
In 1997, ITV’s The Big Story reported further serious allegations including sexual harassment and groping - which is classed as sexual assault.
One of the women in the BBC investigation, Ellie, not her real name, was 15 in 2008 when she reported an assault to the police - an allegation that made headlines - but did not result in any charge.
In 2017, Channel 4’s Dispatches broadcast allegations of groping, assault and harassment, with one woman waiving her right to anonymity for the first time. It gave some women the courage to come forward - and was followed by a 2018 investigation on Channel 4 News.
But it is only now, with Mohamed Al Fayed having died last year, that many of the women have felt able to speak publicly about rape and attempted rape.
Cash and NDAs
The BBC documentary reveals that, as part of Gemma's settlement in 2009, she had to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), a legally-binding contract which ensures information remains confidential.
She says after she was raped, she contacted a lawyer who told Harrods she was leaving her job on the grounds of sexual harassment. Gemma says she did not feel able, at that time, to disclose the full extent and seriousness of Fayed's assaults.
Harrods agreed she could leave and it would pay a sum of money in exchange for her shredding all evidence and signing an NDA. Gemma says a member of Harrods’ HR team was present as the shredding took place.
The BBC has heard that women were threatened and intimidated by Harrods' then-director of security, John Macnamara, to stop them speaking out.
Fourteen of the women we spoke to recently brought civil claims against Harrods for damages. The shop's current owners, who are not asking women to sign NDAs, started settling these in July 2023.
It took Sophia and Harrods five years to reach an agreement. In her case, the store expressed regret but did not admit liability. Many more women are now considering legal action against Harrods.

Scholars of antiquity believe they are on the brink of a new era of understanding after researchers armed with artificial intelligence read the hidden text of a charred scroll that was buried when Mount Vesuvius erupted nearly 2,000 years ago.
Hundreds of papyrus scrolls held in the library of a luxury Roman villa in Herculaneum were burned to a crisp when the town was devastated by the intense blast of heat, ash and pumice that destroyed nearby Pompeii in AD79.
Excavations in the 18th century recovered more than 1,000 whole or partial scrolls from the mansion, thought to be owned by Julius Caesar’s father-in-law.
However, the black ink was unreadable on the carbonised papyri and the scrolls crumbled to pieces when researchers tried to open them.
The breakthrough in reading the ancient material came from the $1m Vesuvius Challenge, a contest launched in 2023 by Brent Seales, a computer scientist at the University of Kentucky, and Silicon Valley backers.
The competition offered prizes for extracting text from high-resolution CT scans of a scroll taken at Diamond, the UK’s national synchrotron facility in Oxfordshire.
On Monday, Nat Friedman, a US tech executive and founding sponsor of the challenge, announced that a team of three computer-savvy students, Youssef Nader in Germany, Luke Farritor in the US, and Julian Schilliger in Switzerland, had won the $700,000 (£554,000) grand prize after reading more than 2,000 Greek letters from the scroll.
Tumblr media
Papyrologists who have studied the text recovered from the blackened scroll were stunned at the feat.
“This is a complete gamechanger,” said Robert Fowler, emeritus professor of Greek at Bristol University and chair of the Herculaneum Society.
“There are hundreds of these scrolls waiting to be read.”
Dr Federica Nicolardi, a papyrologist at the University of Naples Federico II, added:
“This is the start of a revolution in Herculaneum papyrology and in Greek philosophy in general. It is the only library to come to us from ancient Roman times.”
“We are moving into a new era,” said Seales, who led efforts to read the scrolls by virtually unwrapping the CT images and training AI algorithms to detect the presence of ink.
He now wants to build a portable CT scanner to image scrolls without moving them from their collections.
In October, Farritor won the challenge’s $40,000 “first letters” prize when he identified the ancient Greek word for “purple” in the scroll.
He teamed up with Nader in November, with Schilliger, who developed an algorithm to automatically unwrap CT images, joining them days before the contest deadline on 31 December.
Together, they read more than 2,000 letters of the scroll, giving scholars their first real insight into its contents.
“It’s been an incredibly rewarding journey,” said Youssef.
“The adrenaline rush is what kept us going. It was insane. It meant working 20-something hours a day. I didn’t know when one day ended and the next day started.”
“It probably is Philodemus,” Fowler said of the author.
“The style is very gnarly, typical of him, and the subject is up his alley.”
The scroll discusses sources of pleasure, touching on music and food – capers in particular – and whether the pleasure experienced from a combination of elements owes to the major or minor constituents, the abundant or the scare.
“In the case of food, we do not right away believe things that are scarce to be absolutely more pleasant than those which are abundant,” the author writes.
“I think he’s asking the question: what is the source of pleasure in a mix of things? Is it the dominant element, is it the scarce element, or is it the mix itself?” said Fowler.
The author ends with a parting shot against his philosophical adversaries for having “nothing to say about pleasure, either in general or particular."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seales and his research team spent years developing algorithms to digitally unwrap the scrolls and detect the presence of ink from the changes it produced in the papyrus fibres.
He released the algorithms for contestants to build on in the challenge.
Friedman’s involvement proved valuable not only for attracting financial donors.
When Seales was meant to fly to the UK to have a scroll scanned, a storm blew in cancelling all commercial flights.
Worried they might lose their slot at the Diamond light source, Friedman hastily organised a private jet for the trip.
Beyond the hundreds of Herculaneum scrolls waiting to be read, many more may be buried at the villa, adding weight to arguments for fresh excavations.
"The same technology could be applied to papyrus wrapped around Egyptian mummies," Fowler said.
These could include everything from letters and property deeds to laundry lists and tax receipts, shining light on the lives of ordinary ancient Egyptians.
“There are crates of this stuff in the back rooms of museums,” Fowler said.
The challenge continues this year with the goal to read 85% of the scroll and lay the foundations for reading all of those already excavated.
Scientists need to fully automate the process of tracing the surface of the papyrus inside each scroll and improve ink detection on the most damaged parts.
“When we launched this less than a year ago, I honestly wasn’t sure it’d work,” said Friedman.
“You know, people say money can’t buy happiness, but they have no imagination. This has been pure joy. It’s magical what happened, it couldn’t have been scripted better."

'Putin's Angel' #DeepAIGeneratedImage #PoliticalSatire
Fishy Rishi Artwork Llewelyn Pritchard 15 July 2024
‘Boris Johnson tried to discourage or limit discussion in Parliament about Evgeny Lebedev for the following reasons:
1 i)  Coordinated complaints: Johnson and Evgeny Lebedev reportedly made simultaneous complaints to the House of Commons Speaker about Labour MP Matt Western's questions regarding Johnson's attendance at parties at Lebedev's Italian villa [2]. This suggests an attempt to silence or discourage further questioning on the topic.
1 ii)  Dismissive responses: When asked about the parties in Parliament, Johnson responded by saying he "simply fail[ed] to detect any crouton of substance in the minestrone of nonsense" that was spoken [2]. This dismissive language appears aimed at delegitimizing the questions.
1 iii)  Refusal to release information: Johnson refused to release details of the security service advice he received about Lebedev's appointment to the House of Lords, despite a vote by MPs compelling him to do so. He cited "national security" concerns as the reason [2].
1 iv)  Accusations of xenophobia: Johnson's spokesman described coverage of Evgeny Lebedev's peerage as "a tiresome and xenophobic campaign" [3]. This framing attempts to portray scrutiny of the appointment as discriminatory rather than based on legitimate concerns.
1 v)  Claims of Russophobia: When the House of Lords Appointments Commission advised against Lebedev's nomination due to security concerns, Johnson reportedly reacted furiously, claiming their advice was "Russophobic" [3].
1 vi)  Vague answers: When questioned about his meeting with Alexander Lebedev, Johnson provided vague responses, stating that "as far as I am aware, no Government business was discussed" [4]. This phrasing avoids a direct denial and limits further inquiry.
1 vii)  These actions suggest Johnson sought to avoid detailed scrutiny or discussion of his relationship with the Lebedevs and the circumstances surrounding Evgeny Lebedev's appointment to the House of Lords.

2)  ‘Based on the available information, here are the key details known about Boris Johnson's meeting with Alexander Lebedev in Italy:
2 i)  Timing: The meeting took place in April 2018, specifically around April 28-29, when Johnson was serving as the UK's Foreign Secretary [1] [2] [3].
2 ii)  Location: The meeting occurred at Palazzo Terranova, a luxury villa in Umbria, Italy, owned by the Lebedev family [1] [3].
2 iii)  Context: This meeting happened shortly after Johnson attended a NATO summit in Brussels where Russia and security issues were discussed, and about a month after the Salisbury nerve agent attack in the UK [2] [3].
2 iv)  Circumstances: Johnson attended a party hosted by Evgeny Lebedev, Alexander's son, at the villa. During this event, he met with Alexander Lebedev without any officials present [1] [3] [4].
2 v)  Admission: Johnson initially avoided confirming the meeting but later admitted to it during a session with the Commons liaison committee in July 2022 [3] [4].
2 vi)  Official oversight: No government officials were present during the meeting, and Johnson did not inform officials about it afterward [2] [4].
2 vii)  Content of discussion: Johnson stated that "as far as I am aware, no Government business was discussed," but this phrasing has been criticized as evasive and falling short of an outright denial [2] [4].
2 viii) Concerns: The meeting has raised security concerns due to Alexander Lebedev's background as a ‘former’ KGB agent and the sensitive timing following the Salisbury incident [2] [3].
2 ix)  Surveillance: According to a Channel 4 documentary, Italy's secret intelligence service was monitoring the Lebedev villa at the time of Johnson's visit due to suspicions of potential espionage activities [1].
2 x) Controversy: The meeting has become a subject of political scrutiny in the UK, with questions raised about potential security risks and the appropriateness of a senior government official meeting privately with a former KGB agent [2] [3] [4].’

3) https://bylinetimes.com/2020/07/21/the-russia-report-what-has-boris-johnson-got-to-hide-by-refusing-to-investigate-russian-interference-in-brexit/ THE RUSSIA REPORT Puts Johnson on the Spot
Extract
‘The Missing Brexit Threat Assessment It has taken Parliament more than 14 years to recognise the true nature of the Russian President’s regime.
With the KGB-trained Putin now ensconced for life, conducting wars in Ukraine and Syria, and funding far-right parties across Europe to destabilise any institutions that can challenge his interests, this is – as the report makes clear in its remarks on MI5, MI6 and GCHQ – a deadly oversight. The lethal nature of the threat from the Kremlin should have been obvious with the assassination of Alexander Litvinenko in 2006. A former colleague of Putin’s in the Russian security service, the FSB, Litvinenko had become a British citizen and was exposing Kremlin links to crime syndicates based in Spain when he was assassinated using a lethal and rare isotope of Polonium manufactured in a Russian state facility.
The attempted murder of the Skripals with the Novichok nerve agent two years ago was the culmination of a murderous campaign which led to up to 14 suspicious deaths in the UK, as reported by Heidi Blake and Buzzfeed News. The report contains a redacted comment on this.
But why has it taken so long? And why did Boris Johnson try to suppress this report? One can only conclude that, on several scores, it was embarrassing to him and those close to him.
Apart from the Lebedev and Temerko connections, Johnson had a wealth of other contacts with wealthy Russian oligarchs as Mayor of London. In the past few years, the Conservative Party has been a major beneficiary of donations from Russian expatriates. Meanwhile, several senior Brexit-supporting businessmen such as Jim Mellon and the Chandler brothers made extensive fortunes in Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and some senior parliamentary figures, such as Jacob Rees-Mogg, still have major investments there now.’
Peter Jukes 21 July 2020
4)  ‘Johnson's actions and scandals during his time in office raise serious ethical concerns and potential violations of rules and norms. Here are the key points that can be substantiated from the given information:
4 i)  Johnson faced allegations of corruption and cronyism, particularly regarding COVID-19 procurement. There were claims of contracts being awarded to Conservative Party donors and those with links to the government, even when equipment delivered was unusable or of poor quality [5].
4 ii)  Johnson was found to have knowingly held illegal parties at Downing Street during COVID-19 lockdowns and repeatedly lied to Parliament about them. A House of Commons select committee report concluded that he misled Parliament multiple times regarding these events [4].
4 iii)  Johnson's government faced scrutiny over the refurbishment of his official residence, with allegations of seeking donations from a party donor to fund the renovations. The Conservative Party was fined for failing to properly report these donations [1].
4 iv) There were concerns about Johnson's appointments, including supporting MP Priti Patel despite findings that she breached the Ministerial Code through bullying behavior, and appointing Chris Pincher despite prior sexual misconduct allegations [1].
4 v) Johnson's tenure saw a decline in standards of public life, with two independent Ethics Advisers and even the Prime Minister's Anti-Corruption Champion resigning [5].
4 vi)  The "Partygate" scandal resulted in Johnson becoming the first UK prime minister found to have broken the law while in office [1].
4 vii)  Johnson's government was criticised for its handling of the Owen Paterson lobbying scandal, initially backing efforts to overturn the suspension of a Conservative MP accused of lobbying violations [1].
4 viii)  There were concerns about the abolition of DFID (Department for International Development) and subsequent de-prioritization of anti-corruption efforts in international development [5].
4 ix)  It's crucial to emphasize that in a democratic society, the principle that no one is above the law should be upheld. Any allegations of misconduct or corruption by public officials, including former prime ministers, should be thoroughly investigated through proper legal channels.’

I've seen you post a lot about Queen Elizabeth and the English monarchy, but let's also discuss other European monarchies and why all of them SUCK BALLS.
They broke the guidelines surrounding COVID several times. The most significant of which was when the Dutch king and his family went on holiday in a private jet during COVID (October 2020). This was all very hush hush, of course, cause the king had previously said that we shouldn't go on holiday if it wasn't necessary. Guess visiting his luxury villa in Greece was absolutely necessary... Then the news broke and he and his wife returned but two of their daughters stayed behind.
Anyway, currently the Netherlands are dealing with a massive energy crisis, where the cost of energy is going up by 50% and the cost of gas by 30% per October 1st. Government isn't taking action (right-wing). Foods are also noticeably more expensive, people have stopped buying as much fresh produce cause they can't afford it (I know I can't).
Meanwhile, the royals get 50 million dollars/yr. Because of the inflation, they received an increase of 2,8%. The king said that he feels bad for all the Dutch families who won't be able to pay their energy bills. He's also made it very clear he and his family will take the 2,8% for themselves.
ANYWAY. The main reason I'm writing this is because the trust in the Dutch royals has PLUMMETED. In 2020 about 75% of the people backed them, now it's under half. In a sick twisted way I hope they keep fucking up and we'll be out of support for the monarchy in a year or 3 >:)
I mean, yeah. ALL monarchies suck and have no functional or moral place in the modern world. Because of Anglophone/British cultural dominance, and because the British royal family has long been celebrity-fied in the Anglo-American press, they're the ones that most people are familiar with, but the rest of them aren't any better. They're still built on massive, colonial and-imperial derived wealth, and because they aren't subject to the same scrutiny as the British royal family, there's less attention being paid to what they do. I have absolutely seen people from other European countries being like "oh nobody even knows who our king and queen are, unlike those tacky British royals, our monarchy is so much better :)" and like. My dude. My pal. That absolutely is not the slam dunk you think it is. I know, I know, it is super fun to rag on the UK and we all do it all the time, but having a "quiet" or "low profile!" monarchy that you haven't even arsed yourself to learn about, despite the history that they come with and the politics they uphold, is, uh, Bad.
Anyway, yeah, this. To my shock, Metro, a UK tabloid (albeit somewhat more left-leaning than the others) actually published an editorial today that called for the abolition of the monarchy. It will still fall on largely deaf ears, especially as everyone is too preoccupied with Liz Truss wrecking the entire economy in a fortnight, but hey, brownie points for that, I guess. Because there's no reason for ANY monarchy to still exist, and if they want to have their titles and their Historical Significance, they can. It is just utterly immoral for them to then pretend that they aren't political (A MONARCHY IS THE OLDEST FORM OF POLITICAL GOVERNMENT IN THE WORLD, OF COURSE THEY ARE), and to take massive amounts of taxpayer money in an ever-more-economically inequal and dystopian world to do it. Will it happen? Not in my lifetime, probably. But man, I would sure like to be wrong.

I was 9 when I almost drowned.
We were holidaying in Florida in a shared villa with extended family. My sister was 5. Our cousins we 15, 12 and 11.
We live in the UK, a place where it is exceedingly rare to have a pool in your garden, so this summer villa with a modest sized pool in the back was massive luxury to us.
Our parents went out one day. All four adults, and left us kids playing in the pool. That meant my 15 year old cousin who was swimming herself was charged with watching a 12, 11, 5 and 9 year old.
I don't know how appropriate that is, but I wouldn't do it. Not a babysitter that young, not with that many kids, never in a swimming pool.
We were playing a game. I decided to try an underwater hand stand and got stuck. Upside down with my whole upper body underwater.
I kicked my legs frantically trying to get attention. For a long time I did that and nobody did anything. I heard one of my cousins say "ignore her, she's doing it for attention"
Thats when I decided to scream. I was scared to. I knew it would leave me with less breath to hold, but I needed them to know how scared I was.
I inhaled some water and was sure I was about to die upside down in this pool surrounded by other children. Then I felt my legs fall. My head scraped the titled side of the pool as my body equalised horizontal. I put my feet on the bottom of the pool and stood up in the waist deep water.
My sister was standing on the edge, she had pushed my legs so I could move.
Essentially I was fine, a bit shaken up so I sat on the shallowest step coughing up chlorine water for an hour or so before the parents got back.
My sister ended up being the one who told them, and nobody did anything about it.

Blast from the past: The Audacity of the (Private) Airplane with Meghan Markle by u/Mickleborough
Blast from the past: The Audacity of the (Private) Airplane, with Meghan Markle Whilst we’re waiting for Meghan to do something entertaining, let’s go back to the memorable summer of 2019, when Harry and Meghan took not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 private planes, over a space of 11 heady days.According to the Sun archived / unarchived:If 2.75 days have passed, it’s time for a private plane.Summertime, and the livin’ is easyHarry and Meghan did this so you didn’t have to.If it’s Tuesday, this must be IbizaAfter Harry attended a ‘super secret Google Camp event‘ in Sicily*, he whisked beautiful Meghan to Ibiza to celebrate her 38th birthday. It’s believed that they rented a plane from NetJets at a cost of £40,000 / $48,500.How Nice of you to let me come2 days later, they went to Uncle Elton’s villa in the South of France. But how to get to Nice from London? A 12-seater Cessna, obvs. Uncle Elton defended them, saying that they deserved some privacy and needed protection [from whom?]; he’d paid for the plane; and the flights were carbon offset anyway. (The Guardian (unarchived) says carbon offsets aren’t a cure.)Their carbon footprint The Ibiza trip was estimated to have a carbon footprint of over 4 tons. The Nice trip, over 3 tons. The average UK person has a carbon footprint of 13 tons a year.Meanwhile, back at the PalaceIn August the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, on their annual trip to Balmoral, flew to Aberdeen with their children on budget airline Flybe, about £73 / $88 per person. This was seen as a response to the Sussexes’ extravagance.** Mirror, archived / unarchived* Harry spoke, barefoot, about climate change to celebs including Naomi Campbell, Leonardo DiCaprio, Stella McCartney, and Harry Styles [have they seen Harry since he’s moved to the US? didn’t think so] who’d mostly - if not all - travelled to Sicily by 114 private planes and luxury yachts, and drove around the island in Ferraris, Maseratis, Porsches, and SUVs.** There were claims that the flights from Norwich would’ve been on Flybe affiliate Loganair - but because Flybe wanted shots of the Cambridges boarding Flybe-branded planes, they sent planes from Humberside to Norwich. Summer Starts Here
I always love the start of a new season. Today's release of S7 got me thinking back to Season 2. A re-write similar to the actual TV show.
Love Island S2 Premiere:
Beautiful scenes of Mallorca, Spain coastline appear on the screen as the host, Caroline Flack, announces: "The waiting is over. An unforgettable summer is about to begin. The search for love has never been easy. At one of the most stunning villas in the world, the Spanish summer sun won't be the only source of heat. We're filling it with some of the UK's hottest singles. Welcome to Paradise."
Tumblr media
Programme's commentator, Iain Stirling: It's been a while, so here's a quick reminder of what our Islanders have signed up for. Long story short, they will spend an entire summer in a luxury villa in Mallorca coupling up and flirting. Oh, yeah, and the winning couple gets 50 grand. Newsflash - a lot of people applied. And our Islanders have all quarantined for two weeks so they can form their very own sanitised sex bubble. Anyway, talking of Islanders, it's about time we said hello to the class of 2019.
Tumblr media
Clip 1: In a crane cab in Chatham, Kent. A good-looking bloke's phone beeps. He pulls it out of his pocket and reads, "Hey, Big Boy. Report to Love Island immediately." The hunky bloke, with spiky tousled hair on top and the sides buzzed, exited the cab. "Here you go, mate," he says in a low Cockney accent as he tosses his keys to another. He rips his plaid shirt off, revealing a ripped physique; lots and lots of muscles. With a swagger in his stride and a lopsided sexy grin, the short-bearded hottie walks away. At the bottom of the screen, the name of the blonde lad with gorgeous pacific blues appears. GARY
Clip 2: Conference room, London. With her dark brown hair in a high top bun, a modelesque beauty points to a presentation board. DING! She takes a moment to look at her phone. Smiling coyly, she removes her blazer to reveal a sultry yellow bikini top. "Bye, boys," she says, her voice tinged with a Geordie accent. They are stunned as they watch her sashay out of the conference room with a sexy hip-swinging walk. At the bottom of the screen, the deep cocoa-brown eyed beauty's name appears. HOPE
"Two down, eight to go," says the host.
Clip 3: Hospital Kitchen in Glasgow, Scotland. A charming baker with a smattering of cute freckles and short, thick dreads with a faded undercut is rolling out bread. His gorgeous honey-coloured eyes lit up as he answered his phone. He pumps his arm in the air. "Yah!" he shouts. The baker rips off his apron and hands it to another baker. "Here man, you can finish them, lad," he says with a Glaswegian accent. He dashes off enthusiastically and gives a cheeky wink at the viewers. The name of the attractive lad flashed over the screen. BOBBY
Clip 4: Law library, Oxford. A very attractive student, wearing a white shirt and black short skirt and resting against a bookcase, is reading a book. Her phone rings and beeps. She begins to read the text. "Pack your bags, gorgeous." The deep chocolate brown-eyed beauty shakes her toasted almond-coloured balayage hair loose from its bun and rips off her white blouse, revealing a sultry black lace bra. As several patrons gasp, she flashes a sensual smirk to the camera. Her black-rimmed spectacles and engine red lipstick only add to her sexy librarian look. At the bottom of the screen, her name appears.  MARISOL
Clip 5: A food truck named 'Cocktails & Cronuts'. in the Waterfront Park in Belfast, Ireland. "How do you like your drink, sweetheart?" says a handsome, sun-kissed man with wild wavey auburn hair over the counter to a pretty female, in a melodic northern Irish accent. Just as he turns on the smoothie blender, his phone buzzes. His bottle green-coloured eyes brightened as he read the text. After exiting the food truck, he downs the customer's drink, as she shakes her head in displeasure with an outstretched hand. The name of the bearded heartthrob flashes at the bottom of the screen. ROCCO
Clip 6: In a county field in St. Albans, Hertfordshire. A petite young woman, with ginger hair, is dismounting from a horse. She glances off into space with a dreamy expression on her lovely freckled face. DING! After checking her phone, her beautiful nordic blue-coloured eyes twinkle as she smiles. also let's not kid ourserves here, if she were to travel to freaking new york or rolland garros for A TENNIS MATCH she'd be dragged like no tomorrow. foreign royals can get away with certain things that the BRF can't and like previously discussed, Fred only works 6 days a month he has the time to attend these things
Tell that to Anne who goes around the world (quite unnecessary at times imo) watching sports. And tbh most Brit’s wouldn’t care either way if Kate did that, it’s just the dramatic royal reporters who’d find fault in it, same as the ordinary citizen doesn’t really care about how many days a year she’s worked.
But just because other royals don’t get dragged in the royal watching community or English speaking media doesn’t mean the people of their country agrees. Like how the Dutch people still haven’t forgiven Max-Wax for their Greek holidays during the pandemic, or that the Swedes doesn’t really think Madeline moving back is a great idea.
the Dutch going to their luxury villa in Greece while the country was in lockdown or Madeleine moving back to Sweden isn't really the same as Fred popping over to the UK for a tennis match though.
also, the only times I can recall Anne traveling around the world for sports was in association with rugby and she has a rugby patronage so it makes sense. and even within the BRF, W&C are held to different standards.
a story about Catherine going on tax-payer dime to the US or the south of France just for tennis could very well turn into a big story that the general public cares about depending on how loud royal reporters get, how uneventful the news cycle is, if a politician feels like starting shit, if she travels there privately, this is the type of thing that could get them in trouble.

Controversial British millionaire brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate, settled in Romania, were detained for 24 hours by Romanian organised crime prosecutors on Thursday.
The prosecutors are investigating claims that the two brothers formed an organized criminal group involved in human trafficking and rape. In the same case, two Romanian women who were supposed to have worked with the brothers were also detained.
Andrew and Tristan Tate have been under investigation since spring for the alleged kidnapping of the two young women. Prosecutors have since expanded the investigation for two other crimes: human trafficking and rape.
One of the women is a 21-year-old American citizen, and Romanian authorities were notified by the US embassy in Romania of her alleged seizure in one of Tate’s brothers’ villas in Bucharest. The police went down to the address and found the two women.
Prosecutors of the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism, DIICOT, then took over the case.
Police searched the brothers’ villa near Bucharest and four other locations. Several of the Tate brothers’ cars were seized by prosecutors.
After more than three hours of questioning, the brothers walked out of the headquarters of the DIICOT in handcuffs and were taken into custody for 24 hours.
“They didn’t state anything,” said the brothers’ lawyer as they left the hearings. In a short video in the moment of his detention, Andrew Tate can be heard blaming the “Matrix” for events. Tate defines the law system and state authority as the “Matrix.”
Romanian investigators say the women victims were recruited through “the loverboy” method. Members of the organised crime group told the girls that they had real feelings for them and would get married.
They then took them to homes in Ilfov County, near Bucharest, where they forced them – by beating or intimidation – to make video chat sessions on various online platforms for money. Six women in this situation have been identified so far by the prosecutors.
The Tate brothers are world-class influencers who promote a luxurious lifestyle and give business and behavioural advice to men who want to be successful.
A few years ago, Andrew Tate was banned from Facebook, Twitter and YouTube for promoting misogynistic messages inciting violence against women. However, his videos have over ten billion views on TikTok. Tate’s Twitter account was recently reactivated after Elon Musk took over the social media platform.
The main business of the brothers is video chat, but they are also involved in the cryptocurrency business and teach online business and masculinity courses. They settled in Romania several years ago after having problems with the UK police for similar activities.
The brothers are known in the fashionable world of Bucharest and on the Romanian coast, where they throw expensive, exclusive parties from where the two recruit future business partners.
