A little piece of heaven [Part 5]

Pairing: Wade Wilson x Original Female Character x Logan Howlett. Summary: In Wade's timeline, Iris is his supernice upstairs neighbor. In Wolverine's, she's his beloved dead wife. A/N: This is a Wattpad Fic with an original character of mine that you can find here. Warnings: Deadpool & Wolverine spoilers, kinda.

PREVIOUS PART.

Chapter 5: Tension.

Every time he closed his eyes, he saw her. It didn't matter if it was a memory or dream. He saw her. He was haunted by her memory and this aggravating, irresponsable version of her felt like a punishment sent by god. Not only did he have to deal with her last words engraved in the back of his mind, always whispered in his ear, but he also had to manage not to cry whenever Iris did something so particularly Iris. He couldn't ask her no to be her.

Wade insisted on getting to know her better, but Logan didn't know what would be worse, if she was just like her, or if she was nothing like her. So the conflict in his mind was constant.

But, not only was she incredibly unpredictable; her relationship with Wade was puzzling. They were constantly flirting, touching each other, cuddling each other, hanging out, and his advances seemed genuine, yet she had no clue. Logan didn't understand if she was playing dumb, or if she was actually that fucking dumb.

And he didn't understand Wade's goal either. He would jolt awake at times, and he'd be there, surprisingly gentle with his soothing touch and his annoying, yet comforting jokes, like some anchor he rarely found in his past life.

Logan felt like an outsider then, sitting next to Wade in the couch. He saw Iris rest her head on Wade's knee, her hands tracing the test she was grading. It was the last one, then she'd take a shower and the three of them would go out to the shitty bar he'd been going to every night for the past week. He didn't truly know if he was okay with that.

"...And, another kid who's actually listening to me" she muttered triumphantly, leaving the tests with the rest of the pile. She stood up and offered them both a cute smile, "I don't know how I'm gonna be able to keep my job if they smell what I've been smoking, so can you guys keep the windows open while I get ready?"

Iris didn't wait for an answer, she left straight for a shower. An eerie silence invaded the room, tension building between them. He could feel Wade's eyes fixed on his hands, then on his tense shoulders and slowly rising up to his eyes.

"All good in that sick mind of yours, big guy?"

Logan let out something akin to a 'yes', avoiding his friend's eyes. He knew Wade knew it was a lie, but then again, they didn't become friends because he was one to open up. His gaze lowered, fixed on the red stain on one of the kid's tests, "Does she always drink and smoke when she works?"

He was judging her, that much was clear. Wade knew that Logan hadn't stopped comparing Iris to his dead wife since the very moment they met, so he just shrugged, "Wouldn't you if you had to bring work home every weekend?"

In Wade's defense, he wasn't told that the Iris he knew and Logan's late wife were the same person, he followed the clues himself. It wasn't like Wolvie would tell him his whole love story, or be very detailed about her character. He more or less told him her name and that she died in his arms. Wade figured it had to be his neighbor because she was obsessed with Logan before she even met him, and therefore he felt he owed no explanation.

"Relax, peanut. It's just a little weed and wine..." he shrugged, holding his hand out to point at the table "It's not like she doesn't give a fuck about them! She's been on this all day for a reason!"

Logan didn't respond, his gaze still fixed on the red stain. He was still trying to keep his mouth out of snapping at him, or worse, out of agreeing. But Wade cared, he clearly did. He cared about her and he cared so much about him. Too much.

"You know, Luna Lovegood over there is actually really good at what she does..." he continued to defend her, "I mean, she's a bit of a space cadet, and I barely understand what she's talking about or why she uses the worst colors in existence, but she loves those kids, you know?" he then looked at the door and back at the grade, "In a totally admirable, non-creepy way..."

Logan finally didn't avoid his gaze, but stared right back. Wade opened his mouth to say something else, but he stopped himself when he realized that under all that annoyance, Logan didn't seem as opposed to his words as he usually was.

His eyes rebelled with a defiant glint and slowly traveled towards his mouth. The silence became suffocating then, specially for Wade who didn't know if this was actually happening and was fighting the urges to joke about it with all his might.

Finally, Logan spoke, his voice low and rough, "Maybe she's not so bad."

Wade's heart pounded in his chest, his mind racing. He could feel the tension in the air, thick and palpable. This was new territory for both of them, "I think... I think there's precum running down my leg..."

Despite the leash on your temper, it threatened to boil over as you trailed behind the Shadowsinger and out into the courtyard, rage simmering in your blood at the gawking faces of your new spies.

“Get in formation,” you snapped, eyes slowly adjusting to the bright sunshine blanketing the fighting pit. “This is Azriel, Spymaster for the Night Court. He will be training you all on proper sword and blade-yielding.”

At the sound of his name, his head snapped towards you, eyebrows slightly raised and wings spread out.

You almost rolled your eyes at his surprise. Did he really think you were that stupid? That you wouldn’t have researched him, his High Lord and their entire little inner circle before their arrival?

He had to be an idiot.

The midafternoon sun provided a comforting warmth, allowing you to shed off the outermost layer of your training armor. You stalked over to the corner of the yard, letting the Shadowsinger take the reigns and lead the session.

Sharpening, cleaning and polishing your blades and swords would be a better use of time than letting some arrogant Illyrian male tell you how to wield your weapons.

You gazed up at him, only to find his eyes pinned on you.

You don’t want to learn from a master? they seemed to taunt.

Your glare was answer enough. He turned away to one of the novices gushing at his side, and your blood began to heat again at the sight of his massive hands around Calista’s as she held her wooden practice blade, the blush slowly creeping on her tanned cheeks.

Foolish idiots. All of them. He must think every female he encountered would swoon and bat her lashes for him. But given his status in the Night Court, he was probably used to it.

It didn’t matter what he thought. This was your territory. You wouldn’t grovel or feed into his male ego.

The sound of clashing wood had your curiosity sparking. Luna, one of the faster learners, was already sparring with him. You hated yourself for it, but a tiny part of you couldn’t blame the trainees—the Shadowsinger moved like liquid night in the sun. 

Swift and precise, brutal and unyielding in his moves, he danced across the training ring, expertly wielding his blades and sword, his warrior’s arrogance flowing through his movements like ink in water. Wrath and wicked delight shone on his face as he progressed through the motions, showcasing his talents on the makeshift battlefield.

“He’s like a gods-damned creature. Like he was built for this.”

You whipped your head in the direction of the soft feminine voice to find Iris at your side, eyes glued to the Shadowsinger.

“He’s as good as any other spy or warrior,” you snarled back.

Iris turned to you, amusement alight in her sparkling blue eyes.

“Why don’t you go spar with him, then?”

Again, that rage bubbled in your blood.

Slowly turning your head to hers, you seethed, “What?”

She clamped down on her lips to keep from smiling. You got as close to her face as you dared.

“Newbie spies in-training don’t give orders around here.”

She simply nodded her head in agreement.

Although… Maybe she had a point. It wouldn’t hurt to show the stupid, swaggering bastard his place. You were more than confident in your skills.

You would let him continue to show off for the girls, tire himself out, before approaching.

Hours passed by until the afternoon sun gave way to a low orange and pink sunset. The trainees appeared to be exhausted but somehow still had the energy to keep asking Azriel for more help refining their technique. Pathetic, boot-licking idiots.

“That’s enough for today,” you said, the words sounding as harsh as you intended. The spies finished their stretches, likely biding their time to keep marveling at the Shadowsinger.

Azriel remained on the other end of the training ring, cleaning and polishing his own blades, twirling Truth Teller casually about. And continuing to ignore your presence.

The infamous Truth Teller. You had heard the legendary stories of the blade by which the Spymaster of the Night Court got his enemies to confess.

His dark night-black hair glittered in the glow of the dipping sun. He was handsome, you had to admit. But still a brooding, hulking brute.

As if he could read your mind, his eyes flickered to yours. He stared at you with predatory focus, shadows flickering in his hazel eyes and curling around his muscular arms. His enormous wings were near-glowing, a faint iridescence sparkling in the dusky sun.

You stared right back. A challenge.

With your best arrogant warrior’s swagger, you sauntered up to him, hips swaying with animalistic pride.

“Care for a one-on-one, Shadowsinger?”

His harsh, unforgiving face revealed nothing—no gleam of emotion, no hint of warmth or feeling.

Nothing but the nearly 7-foot staggeringly powerful and ancient male.

With lethal softness, he said, “Are you sure you’re ready for that?”

Wrath. Primal wrath coated your blood and bones at his ridiculing tone. As if you were no more than one of the trainees ogling at him for the past afternoon.

Your lip curled back as you flashed your teeth in a wolfish grin.

You didn’t give him the respect of an answer. You just unstrapped and tossed your blades and swords to the side. Yes, you would do this like a true warrior.

A wicked, feral gleam sparked in his golden-hazel eyes, fixed on your every movement. Surely, he wasn’t expecting you to challenge him in hand-to-hand combat, but he seemed to welcome the surprise as he unstrapped his assortment of weapons and peeled off his jacket, shoulder pads, and…

His gloves.

You reigned in your shock at the gnarled, burnt skin of his hands. Cooling your features into neutrality, you had to refrain from thinking about what kind of cruel, vicious enemies he had encountered to receive such atrocious scars. Tried not to think about what kind of darkness the male across from you had survived.

You met his stare again, only to find icy determination in his eyes.

Azriel shifted closer, a fluid movement limned with restrained power. He didn’t bother crouching into a defensive stance. Didn’t bother with theatrics as he waited for you to make the first move.

You silenced your thoughts, letting your wrath for his pomposity become a song in your blood.

You reminded yourself: you are light, you are air, you are grace.

And then you lunged for the Illyrian.

I'm breaking this one down by games I've played . So , that being said here we go:

FF X: Yuna and Tidus all the way . They're literally so cute ?? I could write essays about them , and I just might . I will happily die on this hill. They're also from the very first FF game I've played , so no matter what they will always hold a special place in my heart.

FF VII: Surprise to no one, I have a few in this fandom/game . Aerith and Cloud . I think they are really soft together , and she brings out a side of ClouPd that we don't normally get to see . On the flip side , Cloud brings out a certain spunkiness in Aerith and they balance each other out well . Cloud and Zack . I'm a sucker for a good best friends to lovers , ride or die trope . I am . Cloud changes so much around Zack , and Zack helps him open up and not be so stormy. They're cute . Zack and Aerith . Classic , tried and true that can do no wrong in my heart . They have great chemistry , and their story is just . . .delightful .

FF XV: Same thing as FFVII , I have a lot of OTPs for this game . This game has me in a stupid chokehold . That being said . Noctis and Prompto . Best friends to lovers . Awkward best friends since childhood , falling in love during sunrises . Late night pizza , and 3am talks about nothing . They get each other and just . . . I love them , okay ? Following that path, Ignis and Noctis . Listen , this one tickles my senses . I adore them . They are the classic 'prince falling in love with his advisor' trope. Ignis knows every little hair on Noctis' head, while Noctis knows Ignis' routine backwards and forwards . They have really tender moments . And don't get me started on Ignis actually willing to die for Noctis to keep him safe . Okay ? Okay . Noctis and Lunafreya . The game did them justice but not enough justice {we got so little screen time with them, don't come for me}. That being said , the moments we did get were beautiful between them . You could tell how much she cared about him from a young age , and how much he valued her and respected her . They had a really particular bond and it was remarkable . {One of my favourite threads I've written on @rexelectus was a thread of just letters between Luna and Noctis and it's my favourite in the universe}. I have too many OTPs for this game, Ravus and Ignis , Prompto and Cindy , Iris and Talcott , Aulea and Regis. I could write even more about this game than I already have , so I'mma stop .
