Nativity Scenes are Wonderful. But Are They All WRONG?!
Here’s a Christmas news flash: Most Nativity Scenes are WRONG! It’s not a deal-breaker, but if you check the Scriptural accounts of the details around Jesus’ birth you’ll find that the traditional Nativity sets depict a scene that never occurred… Just the Facts, Ma’am… Luke describes this pastoral scene, out in the fields: “Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields,…

The Lowest of the Low
By Greg Laurie “When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, ‘Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.’” —Luke 2:15 When we think of shepherds today, we have a positive image of them. After all, Moses was a shepherd. David was a shepherd. And the Bible compares Jesus to a shepherd. But in first-century Israel, a…

1. When you need, God knows:
Philippians 4:19 (NIV). “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”
2. When you ask, God listens:
Proverbs 15:29 (ESV). “The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.”
3. When you believe, God works:
2 Kings 20:5 (NIV). “I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you.”
4. When you thank, God gives more. Jesus gave thanks and fed the five thousand!
Matthew 14:17-21 (NIV). “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered. “Bring them here to me,” he said. And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.”
5. Everything comes from God:
James 1:17 (AMP). “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].”
6. And whatever you give, you'll get just as much back, if not more!
Luke 6:38 (CSB). “Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over—will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
We serve a good, loving and giving God! Amen! 🙏🕊️🙌

The Birth of The Savior Announced
8 In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. 10 But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people. 11 For today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”
15 And it happened that when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, “Let us go to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” — Luke 2:8-15 | Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) Legacy Standard Bible Copyright ©2021 by The Lockman Foundation. "Is Jesus IN You?"
2 Corinthians 13:5, “Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that JESUS CHRIST IS IN YOU—UNLESS you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?” (AMPC) Lydia’s grandson was…

The Lord Looks on the Heart (1 Sam 16)
The following is an unedited sermon manuscript; for an explanation of my sermon manuscripts, click here. Imagine your life like a marathon (2 Tim 4:7). You know that what lies ahead of you will be difficult, but worth it, so you prepare. As a Christian, you could allegorize all sorts of images here. Perhaps proper breathing is your prayer life, and good running shoes are your feet shod with the…

Protect the Warmth of Your Heart
Protect the Warmth of Your Heart Left to its own, all heat is always dissipating, becoming tepid and cold. Hearts too, follow the physics of nature in the spiritual atmosphere of the soul. Unless the fires of our love for God are tended faithfully, the heart grows tepid and cold. This certainly is why the Scriptures are constantly reminding the faithful, commanding the faithful actually, to…

The Woman Who Believed an Unbelievable Message
Almost every Christmas pageant contains the Angel’s appearance to Mary. Luke’s narrative about Mary’s conversation with Gabriel described her reaction to some pretty unbelievable news. If you think about it, there is much to learn from Mary’s response to God’s messenger. (And BTW, the Greek word for angel is anggelos, or messenger—simply put, a courier who brings a message, or a word from someone…

Luke 12:15-21 (‭FBV)‬‬. “Watch out, and beware of all greedy thoughts and actions, for a person's life isn't summed up by all the things they own.” Then he told them a story as an illustration. “Once there was a rich man who owned land that was very productive. After thinking things through, the man said to himself, ‘What shall I do? I've nowhere to store my crops. I know what I'll do,’ he decided. ‘I'll pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and then I'll be able to store all my crops and everything I own. Then I'll tell myself: You have enough to live on for many years, so take life easy: eat, drink, and enjoy yourself!’ But God said to him, ‘You foolish man! Your life will be demanded back this very night, and then who will get everything you've stored up?’ This is what happens to people who hoard up wealth for themselves but are not rich as far as God is concerned.”
“Ending Well” By In Touch Ministries:
“Life is a gift—ask God to help you spend your time on what matters.”
“Today’s passage is about a rich man who made poor use of his days. Assuming a lot of time remained, he left the Lord out of his plans and let materialism guide him.
Paul, on the other hand, knew life was short and made the most of it. He gave to others until his final days. His letters from prison illustrate this—despite knowing he would soon face death, Paul devoted his time and energy to instructing fellow believers and praying for them. He recognized the value of time spent encouraging Christians to do everything as if for the Lord (Colossians 3:23). This is important even when our task seems unrelated to the church. Kingdom work isn’t just for missionaries and pastors; God calls us all to different fields and assignments.
The apostle also knew that the Christian life encompasses struggles. And he was realistic about his own imperfections (Romans 7:5-25). This meant that to make the best use of his time, he needed to persevere, keep faith in God’s promises, and rely on divine power for victory. And indeed, at the end of his life, Paul was able to say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7).
Life is a gift. Every one of us has a limited number of days on this earth. How will you utilize your time so you can look back and, with Paul, confidently say that you ended well?”

"PASS THE PLATE PLEASE!"
2 Kings 7:9, “Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news AND WE ARE KEEPING IT TO OURSELVES…” (NIV) So, Thanksgiving is almost here and it immediately makes me think about sitting at the family table. You see, somewhere in the ‘Fathers Handbook’, I’m convinced it says that the father automatically gets to carve the turkey, or the ham, or the roast.…

How are we to think about modesty?
1 Timothy 2: 9, 10, “likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.” When we hear the word modesty, our first thought is usually about how women should or shouldn’t dress. While modesty does address the way we…
