Note
I've seen quite a few times the scenario where Bowser would torture Luigi to get to Mario but I've been thinking: What if King Boo would torture Mario to get to Luigi. How do you think Luigi would react to that? How would Mario react to that situation?
You know me anon. You know me well.
Tumblr media
Okay, so... I headcanon that unless murder is his end goal (which it often is to be fair), King Boo is way more averse to physical torture than Bowser is, even with the powers of his crown's gemstone at his disposal. This is not because of a sense of pity or dignity, but because he's been dead for so long that finding the fine line between making someone suffer and accidentally making a new ghost out of his victim is kinda difficult.
What he lacks in ability to deliver controlled physical damage, however, he more than makes up for in his ability to deliver psychological damage. He likes toying with people's fears, making them feel small and helpless, dangling hope in front of them before violently ripping it away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also! In Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon, he was referred to by E. Gadd as the "Master of Illusions." So... let's say... he learned how to make someone experience intensely realistic hallucinations of anything he desires.
Tumblr media
That would quickly become his go-to move in terms of delivering the most trauma possible, and he'd do it well, using Mario as a guinea pig to fine-tune his powers. So, for as long as Mario is in captivity he's living the most horrible, visceral nightmare possible, rewinding and replaying with a new terrible twist every time, watching loved ones suffer and die, unable to do anything about it. By the time Luigi reaches his brother, Mario doesn't know what's real and what's fake. He's too frightened to speak, too frightened to move, unable to believe anything he sees. No matter what Luigi tries... no matter what he says or what evidence he tries to provide... Mario can only brace himself for the moment everything is once more ripped away.
King Boo is proud of his handiwork. He not only found the perfect form of vengeance, but he broke the most revered hero in the surrounding kingdoms like a cheap toy. His first mistake was showing his hand– indirectly revealing to Luigi and E. Gadd the full extent of what he can do. His second mistake was assuming Mario's pathetic state would render Luigi crippled with fear. His third mistake was being so bold as to confront Luigi right at the moment he discovered what had happened to his brother.
Luigi wasn't frightened the way he expected him to be. Luigi wasn't even mindlessly enraged, which King Boo counted as a possibility. The green plumber went absolutely numb, pursuing the ghost with the cold determination of the machine he carried, unflinching and unmoving no matter the attack thrown at him– psychic or physical.
He only allowed himself to break down long after the fight was won. When he was ushering Mario toward E. Gadd's lab, Luigi at last crumpled to the ground, arms wrapped around his brother as he sobbed. Mario... though still unconvinced this wasn't another hallucination... could not help but hug his brother in return.

Loved reliving this experience 💚✨
Guess what game I finished a couple of nights ago 😌
Tumblr media
I really had so much fun with this game! I missed playing as my beloved boy Luigi and going ghost-hunting with him 🥹 And this pic with Polterpup is just so peaceful 🤍💚
Some spoilers under the cut! ⚠
In all honesty though, I probably would've finished this game earlier if it weren't for that mission in which all the ghosts invade the Treacherous Mansion and you have to go running from one room to the next to catch them all before the dimension collapses... You know, I LOVE that games increase their difficulty as they progress, but I do NOT like missions against the clock 😅 That one took me a few attempts to complete...
But then, the last Possessor ghost was even easy 😶 It only took me about 4 minutes to defeat all those armors, including the giant one, which is, btw, the time I spent fighting against the Possessor ghost from the Secret Mine. The one I took FOREVER to defeat in the 3DS version. I'm... honestly surprised that I found both ghosts so easy 😅
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
King Boo, though, was very hard, but I don't even know how, I managed to defeat him on the first try! It was a cool fight indeed, though also a bit stressing, especially the part where he chases after you while you have to dodge lots of furniture and obstacles 😆 (Yes, I tend to stress myself with videogames because I live them to the fullest 😂)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had to share these pics simply because I love them, especially the first one. Oh, the angst... The yearn in Luigi's gestures to save his brother... 🥺
And then... 🥹
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The brothers ever 🥹❤️💚
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luigi adopting Polterpup is the cutest thing EVER, and all the ghosts becoming friends with him and Mario and the Toads is just so sweet! I truly LOVE the ending of this game 🥹
Also, I didn't remember the credits at all, and these pics really surprised me! 👇
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THIS IS WAY TOO CUTE??? HELLO????? 😭😭😭😭😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I totally wasn't expecting that last one... and I totally did NOT squeal like a silly as soon as I saw it, of course not, what are you talking about 🥹🥹🥹
Now I only have one doubt... I wanna change my profile pic, but I can't choose between the first one, with Luigi and Polterpup relaxing and napping together, or the last one with the bros high-fiving... I love them both and I can't choose. HELP 😆
Also, as for the games I'm currently playing, it's Paper Mario 64 on NSO and Super Mario Galaxy on Super Mario 3D All Stars! I'm really enjoying both so far! 🥰

The fact that Mario's entire mission throughout 90% of the movie wasn't to win the affections of the princess he was traveling with or to become a hero but to make sure that his brother was safe is something that I would NOT have been normal about years ago, nor am I normal about it now.

Nintendo Direct: June 2023
I have been catching the last couple of Nintendo Directs, and I was super psyched to see the most recent one. The one before gave us old handheld systems playable on the Nintendo Switch. So I was hoping for good news in games coming up...
Tumblr media
Now, I watched it on 6/25 so days after. If you have a switch, you can still watch it. Or maybe Youtube? Here are some of my thoughts on the games I saw:
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC: I have been out of the pokemon loop for while but the DLC’s look good.
Sonic: same thing with pokemon, but glad to see it still alive. It has been around a while.
Palia: looks like a neat real life simulator.
Persona 5 Tactica: Cute characters in chibi form! Happy to see a title that has only one other title on switch to have more titles.
Mythforce: this is such a nostalgia trap, but it looks real fun! I would totally play this!
Splatoon 3 Splatfest: This game seems like COD but kid version. I never really got into this. But this looks like DLC.
Detective Pikachu Returns: The movie was great, the game was good. I love this as a direction for Pokemon.
Super Mario RPG: This is a remake of an older game of the same name. It looks like a refreshing take on mario games, which are classic.
New Nintendo Switch Peach Game: This looks like another remake of an older game.
Luigi’s Mansion 2 Dark Moon: Another old remake, I do love the Luigi games and hope that this is to appease the players as they make a new one.
Batman Arkham Trilogy: This was supposed to be one of the better batman games and comics, and this looks dope-I am looking forward to playing this for the first time on switch.
Gloomhaven: Good looking game, card based.
Just Dance: nice active game, nice to see it continuing.
Silent Hope: Anime game. meh.
Fae Farm: this looks good, I kind of think there are too many simulators out, but it is supposed to be one of the better ones.
Hot Wheels Unleased 2: Looks ok for a racing game, but I also kind of feel like there is a lot of competition in this genre.
Manic Mechanics: This game looks like overcooked, and the builder game. I love games like this, this one is happening.
Mario + Rabbids Spark of Hope: Mario doesn’t do well in turn based games, in my opinion, but its an interesting game.
Dragon Quest Monsters: This looks like a pokemon wannabe, but it looks not bad.
Pikmin 1, 2, 4: I have never played this series but it looks cute and I would not mind this as a multiplayer family game.
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection: this is an old game, I might even try it if it goes on sale.
Vampire Survivors: This game looks really fun, simple but oh so deceptively hard. I do really want to try this game.
Headbangers Rhythm Royale: I am getting this game, its a beat game with birds. Yes.
Penny’s Big Breakaway: It looks like a hodgepodge of many games but unique in its own way.
Mario Kart Booster Course Pass Wave 5: I should be more excited but I am not.
Star Ocean The Second Story R: Meh, another anime game.
WarioWare Move It: This looks like 1 2 switch but mario, I mean wario. Might be nice for an active game.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Amiibo: Amiibos are still a thing? This game looks good, but there are so many zeldas out at one time right now.
Super Mario Bros Wonder: Looks like a new direction for the mario side scroller.
For those that want to read more about this: https://www.nintendolife.com/features/nintendo-direct-june-2023-every-announcement-and-game-reveal
There were so many games revealed, that I had to reference the list to make this post. Obviously, ones that did not stick with me means I was not the intended customer but there are so many gaming customers these days! Games I am looking forward to are: Headbangers Rhythm Royale, Vampire Survivors, Manic Mechanics, Batman Arkham Trilogy. What games are you looking forward to?

Nintendo, Nintendo...
First of all, I'd like to thank you for Super Mario RPG, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, a new Princess Peach game, and WarioWare: Move It!
But there is something wrong:
YOU DIDN'T NAME YOUR LATEST 2D SUPER MARIO SIDESCROLLER "NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. WONDER!"
You really punched me (and my fellow NSMB fans) in the face. :(

Hello!
Ok, so...if it wasn't a problem, do you have something you would like to share about "Accidental Ghost King Luigi"?
I saw that you mentioned it and it really caught my attention, a lot of thoughts came up when I finished Luigi's Mansion 3 and I love expanding them.
So most of the ideas were discussed here, but I can scrounge up some more.
TL;DR for this AU : E.Gadd passes away, leaving in his will everything he owns to Luigi, who is now probably the richest man in the mushroom kingdom between the estates, the cash and the employees, living or not. (Spoilers alert : once Luigi realizes exactly how much he owns, he freaks out so much he hides under his blanket for several hours, with Mario patting the bundle and occasionally slipping snacks under it).
Then once he calms down enough, he wants to give everything away but it turns out to not be that simple, explains the Toad in charge of giving the will to Luigi:
"What if I DON'T want all of this ??"
"I don't know about the ready money or the coffee shop, but by all ghost and Boo laws, you are the rightful master of these places that you earned through Right of Conquest until someone else comes to dethrone you."
And it turns out, yes, by beating King Boo three times, on his haunting ground, with the last time being a direct challenge to Luigi and his kin, Luigi effectively conquered him, with all of his ghosts and Boos. And King Boo was a very powerful ghost. Luigi is now King Luigi.
"Why was E.Gadd even the owner of these places then, he wasn't the one chasing ghosts there !"
"Oh, he wasn't the actual owner of anything: before the dark moon incident, the ghosts were not agressive and let him play around, and afterwards, he acted as your steward to maintain your domains in your absence"
"Wait, is that why King Boo keeps coming after me ? Not just by revenge?"
"Oh yes, definitely, you dethroned him three times, that's a bad number for a spirit."
Peach, who has to deal regularly with a king ruling over a place where 90% of roaylty dealings involve kidnapping : "oh, Luigi dear..."
Except E.Gadd comes back. As a ghost. And he's still obsessed with science, but now without any of these pesky mortal ethics or boundaries. To the point his experiences go from "eyebrow-raising in the methods but ultimately for the greater good" to "mad scientist except this one is perfectly aware of what his potential enemies can do and acts accordingly."
At first he seems relatively reasonable...until Luigi refuses to give him back Gooigi AND the rest of the ghosts, too. Maybe he has grown fond of his new "subjects", or maybe he senses giving E.Gadd full control of the ghosts is a bad idea.
"My boy, do you think you could use my own creations against me ? I know them better inside out than you can ever do !!"
E.Gadd doesn't take it well.
E.Gadd is now very curious and vindicative towards this meddling new Ghost King who dares to get in the way of his research.
E.Gadd issues a challenge. And by challenge we mean that he takes possession of Luigi's territories. Probably kidnaps Mario & co, AND Polterpup (he knows how to capture ghosts, and he knows how helpful the ghost pup is to Luigi). Oh, and he steals and breaks all existing Poltergusts.
Now Luigi is stuck in a dangerous place with a mad ghost after him, unarmed, alone...except for King Boo, still stuck in his container, that he managed to grab on the way out of the laboratory.
King Boo is angry at Luigi for stealing his title, but he certainly isn't going to let the professor beat HIS nemesis!! What will the rest of the spectral community say if the one who defeated him loses his new title so fast?? Luigi isn't sure about the logic behind this reasoning, but he'll take any help he can get.
So now it's the team up of the century, and by that I mean King Boo snarking and loudly complaining from his container, asking again and again to be let out, while Luigi tries to survive and to keep KB inside the container (he has enough on his plate, he doesn't want another mad ghost after him); all while KB actually guides Luigi through the mysteries of ghosts and spectres, as well as the intricacies of the Ghost King title. But even after King Boo manages to get out of the container at some point, he still sticks by Luigi. You can guess why.
A Very Important Plot Point: King Boo gets frustrated by how much time Luigi takes and decides to shove some spectral power in him to level the field.
That's a fun surprise : King Boo's spectral essence boosts up Luigi's Thunderhand (that he had stopped using due to how taxing it was on his body; but now the Boo power helps circumventing this energy tax). KB acts as the new "source" and makes it way more potent, especially given his own affinity with lightning.
"Isn't that cheating ?"
"Have you even MET ME ??? Here, have some of my power, it should AT LEAST give you a boost so you won't die right after touching a gho-"
*huge thunderbolt crashing on the house frizzing everything electrical device*
"....WHAT WAS THAT"
"Uh....it never did that before."
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN "IT NEVER DID THAT BEFORE ?? YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME YOU HAD LATENT MAGICAL ABILITIES!!?? WHY DID YOU NEVER USE THEM AGAINST ME !!!???"
Later, when they manage to free Mario, KB eyes Mario suspiciously for a loooong moment as both brothers look in hope.
Then he shrugs : "Nah, not gonna happen"
"What?? Why ??"
"It's more fun if Luigi gets my power, he's my nemesis. Just ask Bowser to lend you fire powers next time you see him"
"That's ridiculous, with everything at stake..."
"More seriously, you are NOT my nemesis. You did NOT deal with my powers as intimately as Luigi did"
"Don't put it that way please"
"Even if I wanted to provide you power, Mario is much weaker to my powers, he wouldn't be able to harness them."

I think Mario only greeted Luigi with a handshake after being rescued in Luigi's mansion 2 because at that point he had no clue what was going on.
In Luigi's Mansion 1 and 3 he knew without a shadow of a doubt that Luigi was in danger, hence the warmer greeting... be it on-screen like in LM 3, or merely implied in sound bites during the credits of LM 1.
Tumblr media
Even though in Luigi's Mansion 2 the nature of Mario's capture is left nebulous, we can safely assume he didn't know Luigi was involved at all. And, if we know one thing about Mario, it's that he's not one to panic over his own safety compared to the safety of others.
So when he's freed from the painting he's initially just proud of his brother for getting him out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But after Luigi helps restore the Dark Moon, Mario begins to better understand the gravity of what all is going on, returning to Luigi's side to wrap an affectionate arm around him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And when that is interrupted by the freed– once more friendly– ghosts, Mario eventually breaks away from the celebrating specters to approach Luigi a third time to reemphasize how proud he is.
Tumblr media
It feels to me like the behavior of a guy who only realized what was happening after the heat of the moment.

Wall o’ Text : The Nintendo Direct
Figured I may as well type up my thoughts on everything from the Direct.  I have it going in the background to remember everything that was shown.  So yeah, if you care about trailer spoilers, now’s your chance to bail, yo.
So let’s get to it, and hopefully not get interrupted by another powerout.
1) Pokemon ScVi DLC - I’m looking forward to these.  ScVi can be a buggy mess, but I still overall enjoyed the games.  Since I’m not super competitive, I don’t look at a bunch of new legendaries as “OH GOD WHAT WILL THIS DO TO THE META QUICK BAN EVERYTHING,” I just see them as “Oh, cool, new things to collect and train, yay!” I do however hope there are still some things they might be hiding.  I’d like to see some new Paradox forms show up.
2) Sonic Superstars - Honestly looks pretty good.  I do wonder if we might get more characters as DLC.  I’d especially love to see what a Classic style Cream would look like.
3) Palia - ...... (checks “cozy farm sim off the bingo sheet”)  Nothing really stood out to me here, other than the phrase “free to play,” meaning microtransaction heck.  No thanks.
4) Persona 5 Tactica - Tactics games usually aren’t a go to for me, though this looks maybe more like the kind of tactics used in things like Mario + Rabbids, which I enjoyed, so I might be interested in this one?  Not super high priority, but on the radar.
5) Mythforce - This honestly might be on the “I’ll want to see more” list.  The artstyle is actually pretty dang nice, it definitely captures that He-Man style saturday morning cartoon look.
6) New Splatfest - Well, I can’t play online, don’t even HAVE Splatoon 3, but as far as choice, I’m torn between Strawberry or Mint Chip, love both of those.  But hey, Vanilla is good too.  Honestly hard to pick on this one.
7) Detective Pikachu Returns - Okay, was NOT expecting that.  I enjoyed the original, so definitely happy for it.
8) Super Mario RPG Remaster - Oh gods it looks beautiful.  It’s one of the rare RPGs that I really did enjoy, so I’ll likely be interested in this one.
9) Untitled Peach Game - Intrigued, but we know like, nothing.
10) Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon Port - I have the 3DS game, but never actually played it, so this might spur me to do so.
11) Batman : Arkham Trilogy - I might actually want this.  I loved Assylum and City, never got to play Knight, but I quite enjoyed the ones I did play.  A case of “wouldn’t mind an excuse to play them again.”
12) Gloomhaven - No real strong thoughts on this one admittedly.
13) Just Dance 2024 Edition - (checks the year)  Hey, you can’t do that!  Anyway, no real strong feeling here either,
14) Silent Hope - I’m not sure anything really drew me in on this one.  The concept of no one being able to talk, I at first wondered what that would do for storytelling, like, how they’d work with that concept.  I figured it could be interesting, but also would run the risk of if everything’s just pantomimed, it could get tiring.  But then we just get an NPC that talks for everyone anyway, so... (shrug).
15) Fae Farm - Oy, I already got the “cozy farming sim” checkmark.  No strong feelings here.
16) Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 Turbocharged - I never played that previous Hot Wheels game that came up, but it looked like it could be interesting.  Was the original any good?
17) Manic Mechanics - Basically Undercooked but with car fixing?  I’ve played Undercooked solo which, uh....  Oof.  It’s a lot to keep track of, haha.  Definitely something that would be more fun with other players.
18) Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope DLC - I still need to finish the first game, but it is enjoyable.  So happy for this, and already have the pass so got it downloaded.
19) Dragon Quest Monsters : The Dark Prince - Heck yeah new DQM, I did enjoy those games, so might want this.
20) Pikmin 4 - (hype intensifies)  Super looking forward to this.  I’m happy to see Pikmin 2 style dungeons return, I enjoyed those.  Wonder if we have a time limit this time or not, I can enjoy with or without, but I do wonder if this might be more PIkmin 2 style “take your time,” which I can appreciate.
21) Pikmin 1 + 2 - Heck yeah, all four Pikmin games on one system?  Well, no Hey Pikmin, but the mainline ones, which heck yeah.  I’ll probably wait for the physical version though.
22) Metal Gear Solid : Master Collection Vol. 1 - I’ve never been too into the Metal Gear series, buuuuuut I might be thinking of getting it as a holiday gift for my uncle.
23) Vampire Survivors - Already got it on Steam.  And still haven’t figured out how to survive a full minute past Death’s appearance which is like, a requirement on every stage.
24) Headbangers Rhythm Royale - My only real thought here is Team 17 made a pigeon game, so they will explode violently and not where you told them to.
25) Penny’s Big Breakaway - This looks super fun, I hope it turns out good.
26) Mario Kart 8 DLC - I’m kind of surprised Kamek got in as the Tour rep over Pauline.
27) Star Ocean The Second Story R - I have no real nostalgia for this one, never played the original, don’t know much about the series.
28) WarioWare : Move It! - My only concern is how responsive will the motion controls be.  I usually find motion controls frustrating.
29) Nintendo Live - No way I’d be able to attend, so no real thoughts.
30) Tears of the Kingdom amiibos - These look cool, definitely want them.
31) Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Honestly, yes please.  This looks super fun.
So yeah, all in all, very strong Direct.

Minor spoiler for Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon.
I noticed how at the end of LMDM once the Dark Moon is put back together Polterpup gets their pupils back. However, in Luigi’s Mansion 3 Polterpup is once again without pupils. Does this mean something has happened to the Dark Moon or???

Late to publish this but well, a drawing of the pianist trio of the Luigi’s Mansion saga, the truth that was interesting to draw at 3 and I would like to see more drawings of interactions between these 3 characters. I think that if Melody and Amadeus met, they would get along very well for their taste for music and that they both play the piano (I don't know if it is valid to ship them, but I want to do it ;w;)

( 💘 ) ; memory that gets their heart pounding.
Peer into my muse’s memories || Accepting
💘- A memory that gets their heart pounding
He knew there was a reason he hated– no, dreaded teaming up with E.Gadd again: it was the inevitability of who he’d have to face. He learned fast that King Boo was a force to be reckoned with from Mario’s words alone. To think that even the red-clad hero had foes he couldn’t stand up against, and they had the ability to–… It was unimaginable to him, no matter how many stories he’d heard. That incident could not have happened.
          – Until he’d seen it with his own eyes. Even though the clue had turned out to be fabricated, its contents – a painting of his dear brother, helpless to the whims of the Boos – weren’t. The sight had made his blood run cold, sending shivers down his spine as yet another task was tacked onto the list of messes he had to blindly clean up. He wasn’t cut out for the hero business, and he knew that from day one. How was he supposed to save the big hero himself?
“Now, join your brother…inside the painting ~ !”
Those were words that kept coming back to mind, though their origin was unknown. Was that from when he’d first encountered King Boo? If so, how did that fight go? Of course, it had to have gone well, since Mario was safe for a while, but–…
Tumblr media
…But he was a failure to that role, and he was convinced so. Those haunting words kept coming back to the surface, no matter what he did to try to calm himself down. It was a disgrace to who he used to be, to have his heart racing at the mere thought of failure with this line of work. If only he knew that he wasn’t acting out of character, in that regard…
