Real Money Ludo: Understanding Payouts and Prizes in 2024
Tumblr media
The digital gaming landscape has witnessed a significant transformation with the rise of real money Ludo games. As we move through 2024, these games are not only a source of entertainment but also a lucrative opportunity for players worldwide. This popularity brings to light the importance of understanding how payouts and prizes work, as this knowledge can greatly impact a player's success and enjoyment.
Basics of Real Money Ludo Payouts
In real money Ludo games, the mechanics of payouts are straightforward but vary significantly across different platforms. Players pay an entry fee to join a game, and this pool of entry fees is redistributed as prizes among the winners. However, the exact distribution can differ based on the game's rules and the platform's policies. Typically, the top performers in a game receive a proportionate share of the collected fees, with the platform taking a small percentage as a service charge. Understanding these dynamics is crucial for any serious Ludo player.
Types of Prizes and Rewards
In 2024, the variety of prizes offered in real money Ludo games is more diverse than ever. While cash payouts remain a staple, players can also win high-value items such as iPhones, sound bars, and other electronic gadgets, making the games even more enticing. These tangible prizes are often part of special promotions or high-stakes tournaments.
Additionally, many platforms have embraced the 'refer and earn' model as a way to expand their user base. This system allows existing players to earn bonus cash, game credits, or even entries into exclusive contests by inviting friends to sign up and play. This method benefits both the platform and the players: the platform gains new users, and players increase their chances of earning without directly participating in more games.
Strategies to Maximize Earnings
Improving one's gameplay is vital for success in real money Ludo. Players should focus on strategic play, which includes understanding the rules intricately, mastering the timing of moves, and predicting opponents' strategies. Regular practice in varied game scenarios can also significantly enhance a player's abilities. Additionally, participating in games with higher stakes or larger player pools can increase the financial rewards of winning, though this comes with greater risk.
Safe and Secure Payouts
With the increase in digital transactions, ensuring the security of financial interactions becomes paramount. Players should opt for platforms that offer robust payment gateways and have a transparent process for deposits and withdrawals. It's advisable to use platforms that are licensed and have a good reputation in the market to avoid potential scams and ensure that winnings are paid out promptly and securely.
Staying Informed About Payout Changes
The realm of real money gaming is dynamic, with frequent adjustments to payout structures and rules. These changes can be driven by new regulations, shifts in market dynamics, or technological advancements. Players must keep abreast of any announcements or updates from their chosen platforms to adapt their strategies accordingly and optimize their chances of winning.
As real money Ludo continues to captivate players around the globe in 2024, understanding the nuances of payouts and prizes is more important than ever. This knowledge not only enhances a player's ability to make informed decisions but also maximizes their potential earnings. By staying informed, practicing regularly, and choosing secure platforms, players can enjoy the thrill of the game and reap substantial rewards.

It was pandemonium on the Quidditch Pitch: Cedric Diggory had appeared at the front of the maze, his face white with terror and clutching the Triwizard Cup tightly in his hand. The crowd erupted in triumph, his fellow Hufflepuffs storming down from the stands to join their champion on the field, while Ludo Bagman declared him the winner of the Triwizard Tournament, though he sounded oddly disappointed with this result. Tom would have been disappointed too, if not for the numb horror spreading through him, his connection to Harry now distant and foggy, as though they were separated by a great, vast distance.
“Well, it’s a bit of a letdown,” Sirius was saying, his voice cutting through the panicked buzzing in Tom’s mind. “I thought for sure Harry would win – but we’ll see him in a few minutes.” He frowned, noting at last the look of horror on Tom’s face. “You alright, Tom?”
“Something’s wrong!” Tom exclaimed,  casting a quick Muffliato so that only Sirius could hear him – not that it mattered over the roar of the crowd. “It’s Harry. I can’t feel him in my mind. I don’t know where he is!”
“What?!” Sirius yelped. “That’s a thing you can do? Never mind, explain that later – what’s happened?”
“I don’t know!” Tom cried. “That’s the whole problem! I don’t know how, but he’s been – taken!”
“Let’s get down to the pitch,” Sirius decided, seizing his arm. “I’m sure they’ll notice he’s missing soon enough – Dumbledore will be able to find him. It’s going to be fine, Tom.”
It wasn’t going to be fine, Tom realised, as a sharp jolt of panic not his own rushed through him. On the one hand, it meant Harry was still alive. On the other, it meant whatever he was experiencing was terrifying enough that, like Voldemort’s when he was feeling particularly angry or gleeful, Harry’s emotions could make the long journey through their connection to him. It meant that Harry was fearful for his very life.
“Stop!” Tom could hear Diggory’s voice, loud and clear above the din, no doubt amplified via Sonorus. “Everyone, stop celebrating! It’s Harry, he’s – no, stop! Let go of my hand!”
Tom tore through the crowd, using his considerable height to make himself seen above the heads of the others, making his way to Diggory. “What’s happened?” he shouted. “Diggory, where’s Harry?”

POC's in Harry Potter
I'm willing to bet that most people do not know who Ludo Bagman is. I did not remember who Ludo Bagman is, though I haven't consumed any Harry Potter content in a good while. Nonetheless, I am fairly confident in saying that most people who aren't dedicated Potterheads do not know who Ludo Bagman is.
To give people like myself a refresher (and I promise this is going somewhere), Ludo Bagman's first appears in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and his most significant role is in that book. The term "most significant role" is relative, since he barely moves the plot forward. He's portrayed as a bit of a shady character in this book, and he mainly serves as a decoy from the bad actors behind the scenes: Barty Crouch Sr., Jr., and Karkaroff. After Goblet of Fire, Bagman is seldom mentioned, and he never plays a significant role in the plot. If you have read up until this point, or if you have skipped ahead, you may wonder why I chose to focus on Ludo Bagman intensely, and focus specifically on why nobody should focus on Ludo Bagman so intensely.
I focus on Ludo Bagman because his name is mentioned more times in the Harry Potter series than any person of colour.
A character who is really only important for one book and whom the producers of the Harry Potter movies didn't even bother casting is mentioned more than any person of colour in JK Rowling's revolutionary, transcendental book series Harry Potter.
Hedwig, the freaking owl, has more mentions in the Harry Potter series than all but two characters of colour: Cho Chang and Dean Thomas. Chang serves as a romantic interest for roughly two books before, presumably, flying off to pine for Edward Cullen. Thomas plays quidditch, and that is the extent of his character. The point is that both of these characters are quite shallow, and JKR even writes the story in a way which the reader is supposed to feel a emotional connection for Hedwig, a literal messenger pigeon; the reader is not led to feel any such connection Chang, and they are led to give at least one-third of a shit about Dean because he is sorted into the good house as opposed to the nerdy house.
Adressing the argument that the lack of POC is because the UK does not have a large population of non-white people: first of all, who gives a shit? I'm not sure if you, my dear reader, are aware of this, but the percentage of the UK population in whom are wizards and witches (And, presumably, another title for all the enbies/otherwise gnc people. What would you like to be called? Sorcerers? Ghaster Blaster Master Casters? Just overall badasses? Please let me know.) is zero! I don't think the story would be significantly hurt by an important person of colour.
Secondly, I did the very basic, not at all difficult math. In 2000, the percentage of people living in the UK whom were white was 91.3%. This means that, given the fact that the Harry Potter series is set around the year 2000, one would expect to see 8-9 not-white characters out of the top 100 characters by times mentioned in Harry Potter. We see 5. Granted, 8 to 5 is not a huge discrepency, but it is a 37.5% decrease. I think what is more important is that none of these characters ever played significant roles in the books. These characters could be replaced with white characters and the story would not change.
Thirdly, I sympathise with JKR's plight. She would write more brown characters, but the people in the place she sets the book are just so white! If only there was some international wizarding event at some point; an event in which a number of schools gather and hold a tournament. It would be so convenient for JKR to write in POC then! Have them compete in this hypothetical tournament, have, say, maybe 3-4, and the winner would get some sort of trophy. A cup, perhaps.
In this hypothetical situation, if JKR was handed this opportunity, it would say a lot if she chose to feature schools whose student bodies were almost exclusively white, right?
This post is, admittedly, a bit dense, and it harps on points that several people have probably already made, but I do think that it is important. If I am incorrect on any facts in this post, please let me know. Thanks for reading.

Things you didn't know about board games
Many of us loving playing board games and people have been playing them for millennia. Here's some fun facts about this excellent pastime
1. We have been playing board games for millennia
Chess, checkers, backgammon and Go all have origins in the ancient world. King Tut was buried with multiple sets of an Egyptian game called senet. Hundreds of pieces of Greek pottery depict Ajax and Achilles hunched over a board in the midst of play. And the Ashanti people of Ghana are believed to have created a board game called wari, which you may know as the count-and-capture game mancala.
2. It wasn’t until the 19th century that board games began to be sold commercially
The first, The Mansion of Happiness, came out in England in 1800. The “mansion” was heaven, and players raced to get there. Decades later, an American named Milton Bradley reworked— and rebranded—it as The Checkered Game of Life.
3. Ludo has roots in ancient India, where it was called pachisi
Pachisi is from the Hindi word for “twenty-five,” the highest possible outcome of a single throw. But whereas Americans only tweaked the name to Parcheesi, the British decided to call it Ludo (‘lew-doh), Latin for “I play.” So when Englishman Anthony E Pratt developed his murder-mystery board game in 1943, he called it Cluedo, playing on Ludo. (In some countries, it’s called Clue.)
4. Around the world, the colourful cast of Cluedo can look quite different
Professor Plum was originally called Dr Orange in Spain. Mr Green goes by Chef Lettuce in Chile. Mrs Peacock is Mrs Purple in Brazil and Mrs Periwinkle in France, and in Switzerland, she’s Captain Blue, a man.
5. Board games occasionally inspire screenwriters
There’s the 1985 mystery Clue, the 2012 action movie Battleship and the 2023 fantasy film Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.
6. At least one board game is being adapted into a television show
The game's creator was a famous French filmmaker , Albert Lamorisse, who wrote and directed the 1956 Oscar-winner The Red Balloon, also created a board game he called La Conquête du Monde (Conquest of the World).
Parker Brothers, an American toy and game manufacturer, introduced it to the US soon after, and renamed it Risk.
7. Another game inventor, Alfred Butts, called his game a couple of other names before Scrabble
Butts first called his creation Lexiko, then Criss Cross Words, before settling on Scrabble—a word that means “to hold on to something.” The hugely popular game has been translated into 29 languages and more than 150 million sets have been sold around the world.
8. Over a game of Scrabble, Canadians Chris Haney and Scott Abbott came up with the idea for their game, Trivial Pursuit
Its success launched a years-long legal battle with an American encyclopedist who claimed Haney took trivia from his books, something Haney readily admitted to doing. In the end, the courts decided you can’t steal trivia and dismissed the suit. During the 1980s,Trivial Pursuit outsold even Monopoly, racking up $800 million in sales in 1984 alone.
9. At the highest levels of play, it’s not all fake money
The winner of the World Chess Tournament takes home up to 60 per cent of the €2 million purse, with the runner-up receiving the smaller share. Even the Monopoly world champion takes home real cash: US$20,580, the amount that comes in a standard Monopoly game.
10. Arguably the wrong person is credited with the creation of Monopoly
The American who sold Monopoly to Parker Brothers in the 1930s, Charles Darrow, often receives the credit for creating the game. But it was another American, Elizabeth Magie, who, decades earlier, earned a patent for her invention, The Landlord’s Game.
Players purchased railroads, paid rent and occasionally ended up in jail. Ironically, Magie’s aim with the game was to show the evils of accumulating wealth by bankrupting others.
11. Monopoly was a polarising game in communist countries
Fidel Castro banned it in Cuba, and it was also banned in China for much of the 20th century. But an even more dramatic bit of board game history occurred during the Second World War. Since prisoners of war in Germany were allowed board games, American troops hid maps, compasses and real money inside Monopoly sets to help them escape.
12. The idea for the kids’ classic game Candy Land came from Eleanor Abbott, an American polio patient
In 1949, Abbott wanted to create something for children to play in quarantine. In fact, illness has served as game inspiration many times. In the British mobile-app-turned-board game known as Plague, players take on the role of deadly diseases trying to mutate and spread across the world. Conversely, in Pandemic, created by an American, players try to contain the spread of diseases and discover cures.
13. Thousands of new games are released each year and there's annual awards for the best
How can you tell which ones are worth buying? One reliable indicator is the Spiel des Jahres (“Game of the Year” in German), a prestigious award given each summer by a jury of (mostly German) game critics who volunteer to play and vote for the winning games. Previous award recipients include Settlers of Catan, Dominion and Ticket to Ride.

Finally, Part 1 of my MSM AU! Hopefully, it wasn't as short as the prologue.
Comforting Souls AU Part 1 ‿̩̥̩‿̩̩̥͙̽‿̩͙ˊ⸊ˎ‿̩̥̩‿̩̩̥͙̽‿̩͙ˊ⸊ˎ‿̩̥̩‿̩̩̥͙̽‿̩͙ˊ⸊ˎ‿̩̥̩‿̩̩̥͙̽‿̩͙ˊ⸊ˎ‿̩̥̩‿̩̩̥͙̽‿̩͙ˊ⸊ˎ‿̩̥̩‿̩̩̥͙̽‿̩͙ˊ⸊ˎ Breakfast. The celestials have gathered in the kitchen for their meals. The smell of crushed coffee beans and toasted bread is in the air, making the kitchen busier than yesterday.
The celestials were just chatting about their problems with their elemental monsters who were bored while Wilbur and his best friend, Humbert were asking who would win, eating their breakfast faster than lightning. “Alright! Whoever finishes the toast wins the game and gets on top of the Starhenge!” yelled Wilbur, in a shrill voice. He’s holding a toast with strawberry jam in his palm. “You bet!" Humbert challenged. He's a half-human, half-Humbug with bright green and black stripes that fall from his cowlick. He’s different from the celestials because he’s an ethereal monster that was adopted by his mother, Scarlette Poinelda. It was unknown how he got adopted. As the boys chomp down their toast, Berlioz is watching them from the table, interested in what the boys’ plans are up to. Galaxia then tells her first and probably last biological son to look at her.
She whispered” Don’t be like your brother, he’s like that sometimes,” But Wilbur didn’t bat an eyelid to his mom. He just continues to eat his toast.
Guess who wins the toast challenge? Yes, it was Wilbur. Wilbur
throws a plate from his hands and Pliro catches it. “Ey, what did I tell you the last time?!” Pliro scowled.”Hey, it’s supposed to be me who yelled at Wilbur, not you!” Vincent also scowled.
That didn’t matter to Wilbur the most. All that matters to him is that he’s the winner. “HAH, I WIN! SEE YA AT THE TOP OF THE STARHENGE!” Wilbur beamed, sprinting towards the trapdoor that his mother went up last night.
“NOT FAIR!” grouched Humbert. He just finished eating toast but instead of throwing the plate like Wilbur did, He rushes to the sink and puts it in there. He then opens his bug-like wings and starts to fly towards the trapdoor.
But it was too late for Humbert. ”Hehe, you thought you could win? Hah! Too bad! I’m opening the trapdoor!” Wilbur teased his best friend, who’s now gonna be his former friend, a few years later. But the trapdoor won’t budge.
Huh? Questioned Wilbur. What? How? The trapdoor didn't budge as when Galaxia used it that night to have a brief chat with her husband. Wilbur looks as if there’s a lockpick. No there isn’t, he thought. He gives Humbert a ‘Do you know where the lockpick is?’ look. Humbert shrugs “I don’t know”.
Humbert then goes up and pushes the trapdoor. And there it was, a Downpour. The rain poured its fill to the boys’ faces and Humbert slowly closed the trapdoor. Humbert, looking wetter than a cat that goes out to fetch a rat in the rain, looks at Wilbur, who still looks wet from the rain, and then tells him “We need to change our clothes,”. And so, the boys went down without their parents’ notice that they were wet.
The boys finally got into their shared rooms. They changed their damp clothes to their t-shirts, and long brown pants and dried their hair so the celestials won’t suspect a thing. They poke their head outside from their bedroom, wondering if their parents know where they are right now.
“All clear?” whispered Wilbur. Humbert nodded as a yes. And so, the boys quickly ran away from their room. Unfortunately, someone saw them, because there was a creak that only a mouse could hear. The boys slowly turned their heads toward the source of the sound. A 26-year-old half-Loodvigg with four bony, webbed hands and a hair that swirls at the end stood before them. He glares at them with a suspicious look and raises his eyebrow.
The boys stood there, shivering as they looked at the Spider. Humbert asked “Umm, hey Uncle… What’s with that look?” Ludo then took Hum and Wilbur to their parents by their shirts. They use sign language to Galaxia, Vincent, and Scarlette that they saw their children snuck out of their room, which made the three of Laxi, Vinci, and Scar stare at the boys.
Whoops. Didn’t see this happen.
“Wilbur, you’re grounded,” Ordered Galaxia, with disappointment on his face.
Damn.
Wilbur and Humbert into their room together.
After the boys entered their room, Vinci and Scar decided to go to look out their respective islands, which left Laxi and Ludo alone.
“Did you see their face, Luddy?” asked Laxi, a snicker coming out from her giggly face. Ludwig nodded with a smirk on the right side of their face. The Galaxia he knew was something he couldn’t help but always put his guard down.
He always sees her as his little sister.
Just like his friend’s son and his (not) adopted sister’s son
Not realizing that…
They’ll no longer be friends, in a few years.

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (Falomir Juegos)
Original Release: 1994
Developer: Falomir Juegos
Publisher: Falomir Juegos
Original Platform: Board Game
Tumblr media
A Star Trek board game that was only released in Spanish – using Google Translate I could work out how to play the game. It’s essentially a variation on Ludo, which does kind of fit with the shape of DS9. The rules, however, don’t fit such a simple roll and move game.
The objective is to get to “Ops”. Your staring space has the direction you move in and you will continue to move this way until you land on a white “P” square. The main arms of DS9 are heavily guarded, so you can’t move inside that way, instead you need to land on the “R” (for Runabout), which puts you on the LR spot to move into the centre. You then need to land on the P1 square to move further in – if you overshoot, you move back to the outer ring via the arms. Once in the middle, you keep circling until you land on your colour to progress inwards until you reach OPS.
Some tiles are marked “C”, which signifies Cardassians (the story is that you’re taking it back from them). This will cause you to miss turns but also collect attack tokens. If the person that reaches Ops have 5, they are the sole winner. If they have fewer, then other players are runner up alongside them.

The Inaugural Golden Watercone Ludo Tournament
Submitted by Guest Editor VeganDollhouse
Back in Summer of ‘22, Aubrey (of Aubrey’s Watercones™️) lured many IG+ DJs into her Plato lair, where we soon discovered ludo, a game where neighborly kindness is not rewarded, and instead, pouncing (later to be officially named chomping) upon your friends, is highly encouraged.
Over the following months, we trained amongst the best of the best, learning the ways of ludo. Little did we know that we were actually practicing for this moment in ludo history: The Inaugural Golden Watercone Ludo Tournament.
The tournament announcement by Pygmalism on November 9, 2022 induced excitement throughout Turntable, Plato, and Discord. On November 16, 2022, Matt posted the official artwork featuring the (original?) 18 contestants.
Tumblr media
Two days later, the stakes of the competition increased when Noiz announced that Rocka would buy the winner a house! On December 5, the brackets were posted.
Tumblr media
The first game of the tournament was Aubrey vs Lee, with Aubrey coming out as the winner (4-1). The second game, AgLikeSilver vs Karyna, was neck-in-neck, until AgLikeSilver took the lead (4-2).
Tumblr media
In Talia vs Lepozza, Lepozza advanced to the next round with a score of 4-1.
Tumblr media
The first game in the second bracket was Noiz vs Lepozza, where Lepozza continued her victory streak. Noiz was quoted as saying, “The king is dead. Knew it was rigged!” to which Lepozza replied, “It’s always like that. A woman gets on top, and then she RIGGED her way there. Ok noiz, hold your chompers my friend.” Well said, Lepozza.
The next games in bracket 2 were AgLikeSilver vs AllieB, where AllieB took the lead (4-3), and Matt vs VeganDollhouse, where House took the lead (4-0). Some comments from spectators included, “Smashed and chomped” and “a massacre.” Then Chicoe beat Pygmalism (4-0), to which Pygmalism called Chicoe a “worthy adversary.”
Next up was Aubrey vs Raxxq, and even with Raxxq’s kiddo professing their love for mommy publicly, Aubrey still managed to overcome the mother-child love bond with a win of 4-3. The final 2 games of round 2 were Siremobunny vs Triplebud (2-4) eliminating emobunny from the tournament and Natalie vs Capybara (4-2), progressing Natalie to the next round. DJGimp was too scared to even show up, giving Vlone the automatic win and advancement to the third round of the Golden Watercone Ludo Tournament, sponsored by Rocka and Aubrey’s Watercones™️.
Tumblr media
Before round 3, Matt gave a half-time recap at the end of day 1.
“It is important to note that Aubrey is coming back from a ludo retirement earlier this year. She is certainly back in action now and poses a real threat! House dominated her first round! Her opponent didn’t score a single point! I think she has a strong chance at making it all the way! Lepozza was able to knock out Noiz, who was rumored to make it very far!!! I think Lepozza will be a STRONG CONTENDER in future rounds! Triplebud was up bright and early to greet his opponents in plato chat! i think this kind of dedication could go a long ways in this competition. Natalie, who we just watched, shows a strong game knowledge and strategy (and a vry cool game board). Keep an eye on Natalie! AllieB is KNOWN to be vry good at games. Ludo is no exception here! Chicoe is rumored to be carrying the LUCK OF PYGMALISM after defeating her in the first round. WILL THAT BE ENOUGH?!?!”
Halftime bets were placed. Pygmalism bet 10 bopcoin on Chicoe, and Kloi bet 10 bopcoin on Aubrey. Lee was quoted as saying, “No pressure but I’m putting all my money on Aubrey.”
On Day 2 of the tournament, Vlone played Aubrey, and with the luck of his car ludo pieces, won the match 4-3. Chico beat AllieB with a final score of 4-2. Lepozza vs Triplebud (4-1) ended in Lepozza’s 3rd victory in this tournament. Triplebud was quoted as saying, “It was destined to be.” The last match of round 3, Natalie vs VeganDollhouse (3-4), was a surprise for everyone. Some comments from spectators included a reference to the power of veganism, as well as the following.
“Literally just said ‘ohhh shit’ loud enough to scare my partners cat. WOW.” - Pygmalism
“this game is insane!” - Matt
“this game is TENSE” - Chicoe
And that closed round 3.
Tumblr media
With round 3 at a close, Matt gives us another recap.
“As we head into the semi finals we have seen some insane plays all around! Newcomer Lepozza tore her way through the competition and shows that she is NOT messing around! HOUSE, who we just saw pull off a stunning comeback has a strong chance at the golden cone with plays like that! CHICOE is still carrying the luck of pygmalism!!!! WILL CHICOE’S LUCK RUN OUT?!?! LOGAN’S FIRST AND ONLY GAME IN THE TOURNAMENT WAS QUICK AND SPEEDY. Will he be able to keep up?!?! Did he pack his spare tire?!?! We will find out!”
Semi-final bets were placed. Pygmalism raised her bet on Chicoe to 20 bopcoin, but more importantly granted Chicoe the has the LUCK OF PYGMALISM and therefore also the very highly sought EXPEDITIOUS ENDORSEMENT. Aubrey bet 100 on Lepozza. Natalie says “my coin is on Doll,” and gave doll the power of the green hair.
In the semi-finals, Chicoe beat Vlone (4-2), and VeganDollhouse beat Lepozza (4-1). Some comments include the following.
“Rigged.” - Vlone
“VeganDollhouse has delivered some of the most brutal chomps of the entire tournament. I am proud.” - Pygmalism (and integral member of Doll’s ludo training team)
“Vegan obviously rigged it.” - Noiz
“wow!” - Natalie
“I am honored to have played against Vegan. Green power to her in the finals. You chomped like a champ, VeganDollhouse” - Lepozza
“I have my coin on Vegan” - Triplebud
Now, going into the chompianship, Rocka has some words of encouragement for the finalists.
Tumblr media
“IT’S FINALLY HERE! The moment you’ve been waiting for, the ultimate finale to the Ludo Championship! Contestants from all over the world have been competing in tense but thrilling matches. Some favorites were annihilated early in the tournament. Some underdogs made it further than expected. AND NOW! Your final match up is: VeganDollhouse vs Chicoe.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
CHOMPIANSHIP FINAL SCORE: VEGANDOLLHOUSE 4 x  CHICOE 3
VeganDollhouse was ecstatic with her win, and even more excited to receive all her amazing prizes, which included 300 bopcoin from Aubrey, a taco bell gift card from Rocka, and her very own teal bear emoji from Matt. Oh, and perhaps the greatest gift of all…she is now the one and only @chompian on discord’s IG+ server.

Chapter 31 - The Minister's Folly
“After some confusion, it does appear that Harry Potter and Cedric Diggory are the joint winners of the Triwizard Tournament!”
They had arrived back at the gates of Hogwarts, Sirius nearly carrying Harry back to the Quidditch pitch, Tom by his side. Dumbledore had been there to meet them as they approached, a grim look on his face.
“He’s back,” Harry had said, hanging off of Sirius’ shoulder. “It’s Voldemort – he’s back.”
“I feared as much,” Dumbledore had said. “I think a longer conversation is in order – but first, the crowd awaits.”
And so there, Tom and Sirius found themselves, surrounded by a crowd of admiring onlookers, as Ludo Bagman declared that, yes indeed, both Harry and Diggory’s names had been magically inscribed on the Cup, side by side. The two winners of the Triwizard Tournament stood together on a dais in front of the gathered mass of students, family members, professors, and ministry officials, both looking very exhausted as they were each handed a sack full of Galleons, hastily separated ahead of time into two equal piles.
“While it appears,” Bagman continued, much to Tom’s displeasure, “that there was a bit of a mixup with the Cup – it was meant only to bring the winner, or winners in this case, out of the maze, taking them instead to the graveyard beyond Hogsmeade – but, we have both Hogwarts champions back in one piece! I invite all those in attendance to warmly congratulate them!”
Tom scoffed as the crowd burst into wild applause, Harry apparently back in their good graces now that he had deigned to share his victory with the older Hufflepuff. It was all lies, a quick story that Dumbledore had concocted as they’d made their way back into the Quidditch pitch, not wanting to panic the crowd or cause an international incident before hearing the full story from Tom and Harry. It wasn’t even a particularly good story, but it had been enough to placate Bagman, who’d apparently been out of his mind with worry when it was discovered that Harry Potter had, in fact, gone missing, but was now beaming ear to ear as though he himself had won the Tournament.

Ludo / Pachisi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ludo is a strategy board game. It’s style of the ‘cross and circle’ board game design, and it originated from the Indian board game Pachisi, created in the sixth century CE. The game was released in 1896 in England as a modified version of Pachisi.
The gameplay involves two to four players using tokens placed in their own corner of the board. The first rule is for each player to take turns rolling a die until they roll a six for them to move out from their corner onto the board. A player can move a token out every time they roll a six at any point during the game. Once a player is out, they can roll the die to move their token clockwise around the board. Once they have completed a full turn around the board and make it back to where their character moved from their corner, they can move upwards along the line of their respective colour and roll the die on their turn to move into the space in the middle. The winner is the first player to place all 4 of their tokens into the home space in the middle.
The competitive aspect comes from the fact that if a player lands on a square occupied by another player, the player currently occupying the square must move their token back to their corner. Another rule is that if two tokens of the same colour are occupying one space, they create a block. If another player is to land on this block, they must move back to their home corner. One other rule, is that if a player rolls a six, they gain a bonus roll which allows them to roll gain immediately. If a player rolls three sixes in a row, they must move their furthest advancing token back to their home corner.
There have been many different alterations and versions of Paschisi created over the years and can be respective to different countries. Some countries have the game under a different title, whilst some countries have rule alterations that do not fall under a house rule category, as the rules are played across their country.
Tumblr media
There are different versions of Ludo, such as ‘Uckers’, which was a converted from Ludo by The Royal Navy some time before 1935. Apparently, the game has been popular for many generations. A newspaper article from 1934 claimed that the ship HMS Sussex played a “form of gigantic Ludo, played with a huge dice and buckets for dice cups.” Uckers also has its own advanced rules created by different units of The Royal Navy.
I do actually have experience playing Ludo, but not Ludo itself. I have played games with the same rules but with different titles, such as Frustration. I wasn’t aware there were games that came before Frustration and that it wasn’t the original. I really enjoyed this game growing up and I would enjoy playing some of the rule changes and game alterations done by different countries by The Royal Navy. I also find it interesting that so many adults play this game, considering my first experience is Frustration, which is marketed to children and was released by Hasbro who create toys for children.
