The Knights of Walpurgis: Chapter 13
“Tom,” Harry said suspiciously as they snuck into the Room of Requirement the following Sunday, nearly a week and a half after Umbridge had begun her reign of tyranny, “I’ve heard an awfully strange rumour going around the school – it seems that Umbridge has landed herself in the hospital wing because she can’t stop vomiting blood. You wouldn’t happen to know anything about that, would you?”
“Interesting effect,” Tom murmured, pondering the combination of the Nosebleed Nougat and Puking Pastilles and neither confirming nor denying his involvement.
“I knew it!” Harry cried. “You were behind it.”
Tom shrugged. “I thought you didn’t want to hear about it,” he replied.
“Yeah, well, I couldn’t exactly miss it,” Harry sighed. “Not when the whole school is whispering about it. When I said ‘no Unforgivables,’ I didn’t mean something nearly as bad!”
“She’ll be fine, darling,” Tom assured him. “The poison will wear off in a few days and she’ll be back to her horrible self once more.”
“That’s not the point –”
“What’s this we hear about Tom using Unforgivable Curses on Umbridge?”
Tom spun in place, breathing a sigh of relief as he saw that it had only been George Weasley making his way into the room, followed shortly by Fred. The twins had somewhat of a vicious streak that he could appreciate, Fred in particular. He felt that, much like Harry, he could count on them not to reveal his secrets – though for very different reasons, of course.
“I didn’t use any Unforgivable Curses on Umbridge, nor do I plan on doing so,” Tom insisted. “I merely brought her some sweets as a peace offering. It’s not my fault her digestive system was too delicate to handle them.”
“That’s my favourite little snake charmer,” Fred said affectionately. “Nougat and Pastilles, am I correct? Interesting effect when combined.”
“That’s what I said,” Tom replied, smirking.

game collection ramble~~~
wonder which games I'm gonna need to download a rom of and play on the computer... or play on steam assuming i buy the steam versions too...
rpgs in general have some kinda small text~~~ I hope if it does come down to me having to do that to play my games it's not a crime or something; cause as a teen emulation didn't bug me but after I got really worried and scared about torrenting stuff, I've kinda lost it for emulation too...... (I've posted about this before i think)
where do I even start with megaten? I'm not exactly that big on (or good at potentially) juggling my time with social links... but it could be fun~~~
current games I have just bc i like collecting things:
persona 1-4 golden (vita) might have persona 5 but idr i have the artbook somewhere tho~~~
devil surviviors (overclocked and 2 3ds)
strange journey redux (sadly not og cause I heard that one's better (3ds))
Shin Megami Tensei iv and apocalypse (3ds)
nocturne remaster (switch; which is garbage cause minor nit pick i like the text in the older version and the lighting, lol but also raidou in switch version i think)
devil children light book and dark book (gba) how obscure were these ones?
and that's it to my knowledge.... I think I dug through my files of (extra content) on my 3ds after looking through all the games and it says I have Persona Q data there but I don't have the game installed and bought it digitally.... guess I made room for something else and now can't redownload it if I bought it cause the 3ds servers and eshop have been dead for a while....
also had Persona 1 and the earlier games started but for some reason my vita decided to spit up a screen after my battery died for idk how long and deleted everything I had for some reason.... thx vita..... had to reformat and redownload everything ~~~
(collects games... never plays the games...... I'm also the same way with books...)
hate how rpg interfaces are kinda small~~~~ but I'm the blind one so that's a me problem~~~
rip persona q forever lost in the void bc I can't redownload you~~~
I've loved this franchise for a while~~ but haven't played any of the games at all.... Just collected the games and some stuff~~ don't really even remember how I found it tbh~~~
idk if it's a text and sight issue on my part or just anxiety about playing something new~~?? which I've just made a post on actually, lol. could be all of the above~~
might need to emulate cause as I've said on this blog; I'm disabled. Legally blind and the text in RPGs is usually too small for my good eye to read, so I'd need either emulation to read the text or to play older rpgs with bigger more readable text...
the limit of 30 tags on this website is dumb cause now I can't put the (visually impaired) tags there....
tldr; don't know where to start with megami tensei, and just wanted to share my game collection~~ of this franchise specifically, lol
i hope this post isn't near as scattered as I think it is. the bad part is if it is in fact scattered and hard to follow; I'm not even tired yet and completely competent to my knowledge....
just scatterbrained i guess~~~ idk..... and super excited to share my megami tensei game collection~~ however small it may be~~~

Tom took his seat at the table, where Sirius lounged at the head of it and Mrs Weasley hurried to set two plates of breakfast in front of him and Harry, who sat just to his right. He tore open his letter with abandon, grinning broadly when he saw what was inside. There, nestled against the parchment that contained his school supplies and book list, was a glimmering new badge, emblazoned with Slytherin’s crest and a large green “P” for Prefect.
“P” for power.
“Looks like you win, Hermione,” Tom said, sliding the badge from the envelope and holding it up to the light. “We’ll be doing rounds together, it seems. I look forward to it.”
“Alright,” Ron said amicably, “so what’d you get, Harry?”
Tom felt a rush of surprise mixed with delight come from his boyfriend, and turned to see Harry staring into his own envelope, his mouth agape in awe. He tipped the parcel, and his own shiny new badge came sliding out onto the table, silver and green. But his badge was different than Tom’s…
“Quidditch Captain!” he exclaimed. “Oh, Harry, darling – you’ll enjoy that much more than being a Prefect, I’m sure of it. It gives you nearly equal standing to us, though you won’t be able to take or give points.”
“You’ll have access to the Prefects’ bathroom, though,” Hermione added. “I’ve heard it’s very nice.”
“That’s true,” Tom said slyly, smiling at Harry before sliding effortlessly into Parseltongue. “It really is quite opulent, you know. It has the largest bath in the entire castle – more than big enough for two people to share…”
“Tom?” Harry queried, his brow furrowed in confusion. “Why would two people share a – oh!” His eyes widened comically as a vivid blush crept attractively over his face. “You mean, you want to – to –” He broke off with a choking noise.
“If you do, darling,” Tom replied fondly, running a thumb over Harry’s scarlet cheek.

See The Summer Solstice From A Roman Emperor’s Party Cave
Ancient Roman Elites Marveled at an Astronomical Alignment from this Cavern on Italy’s Coast. Now You Can Too.
— By Susan Van Allen | June 20, 2023
When summer arrives, celebrations of the solstice happen all over the world. In Italy, la dolce vita unfolds in Sperlonga, between Rome and Naples, in the middle of a coastal stretch called the Riviera of Ulysses.
Sperlonga is set on a promontory, with a curve of beach clubs below, adorned with perfect rows of colorful umbrellas. Bordering the beach is an alluring sight: a giant cave opening to the sea. Recent discoveries reveal Sperlonga’s cave to be the location of an extraordinary astronomical phenomenon dating to ancient Roman times.
Roman Holidays
The cave at Sperlonga was the place to be in summers of the first century A.D., if you were lucky enough to be invited by Emperor Tiberius. It was part of his massive villa, remodeled to be an awe-inspiring, open-air banquet room. Romans would boat there, escaping the heat of the Eternal City, and dine while reclining on benches in the cave’s dining niche (the triclinium), which was decorated with mosaics and shells.
Tumblr media
Map
It was an atmosphere that mixed myth with reality. As this coast was thought to be the location of events in Homer’s Odyssey, diners were surrounded with enormous marble sculptures that recounted the trials of Ulysses (Greek name, Odysseus)—dramatic images of the hero thrusting a spear to blind the giant cyclops Polyphemus or of his ship being attacked by monstrous Scylla. The natural backdrop was the same that enchants travelers today: sparkling sea and Mount Cicero, where Ulysses was captured by the sorceress Circe.

During the summer solstice, guests to Tiberius’s cave experienced a wondrous event: The dining niche was designed by his architect and astronomer to be directly lit by the rays of the setting sun. The discovery of the marvelous alignment was made only recently by archaeologist Marina De Franceschini with archaeoastronomer Giuseppe Veneziano of the Astronomical Observatory of Genoa.
While sites like Stonehenge, the pyramids of Egypt, and Teotihuacan in Mexico have long been known for their astronomical alignment, De Franceschini says discoveries show that buildings in Imperial Rome were also designed to correspond with the sun’s path.
“The power of the sun was seen as a sign of a divine presence, and when Emperor Tiberius stood in his cave’s niche on the solstice, he was glowing, proving his divine origin, that he was an intermediary between men and gods,” she says.

This discovery also reveals another dimension of Tiberius, whom historians nickname “the reluctant emperor.” His succession was fraught with intrigue, as all believed his mother, Livia, killed off potential heirs to the throne to put him in power. Gloomy and unpopular with the Senate, he retreated from Rome to rule from Sperlonga. Although he may have been unhappy about his role as emperor, De Franceschini’s cave discovery shows he strove to emulate rulers who came before him.
Tiberius’s party times in Sperlonga ended abruptly when the cave collapsed during one of his banquets, nearly killing him. Spooked, he abandoned the place for Villa Jovis in nearby Capri.
Seeing the Solstice at Sperlonga
De Franceschini brought her cave findings to the new director of the National Museum of Sperlonga, Cristiana Ruggini, who collaborated with her to stage a 2022 Summer Solstice Event. It will be repeated this June 24.
On that evening, visitors can enter the museum and then the nearby cave after-hours to experience the luminous effects in the niche. Slide projections will recreate what a banquet scene may have looked like on those long-ago summer nights. The presentation also shows how the Ulysses statues, now in the museum, were strategically placed in the cave. De Franceschini believes that “The Blinding of Polyphemus” statue was made for the summer dining niche, where the sun’s bright rays would also create a blinding effect to the viewer.
The solstice event is one of many initiatives Ruggini has spearheaded, reviving the museum and archaeological site, which is celebrating 60 years since its founding. Along with expanding the site’s archaeological research, Ruggini envisions the museum as a cultural center.

Though Sperlonga has long been a popular vacation destination for Romans and Neapolitans, it’s still under the radar for foreigners. It can be reached from Rome by car or train to the Fondi-Sperlonga station, and then a taxi or bus, in about two hours.
Travelers can wander the pedestrian-only historic center, a labyrinth of whitewashed stone buildings, archways, and narrow stairways. Sperlonga’s beach clubs serve seafood dishes, such as spaghetti alle vongole (with clams), or Caprese salads, made with fresh mozzarella from farms near Naples. After lunch, a walk along the beach leads to the museum and archaeological site with Tiberius’s cave, where the heart of Sperlonga’s enchantments await.

New Post has been published on https://www.tempi-dispari.it/2022/11/24/jazz-allatelier-musicale-i-nexus-il-26-novembre-alla-camera-del-lavoro-di-milano/
ATELIER MUSICALE – XXVIII stagione.Sabato 26 novembre 2022, ore 17.30Nexus – La storia continuaDaniele Cavallanti (sassofoni), Tony Cattano (trombone), Emanuele Parrini (violino), Luca Gusella (vibrafono), Roberto Frassini Moneta (contrabbasso), Tiziano Tononi (batteria).

Barty watched with narrowed eyes as the two teenagers stumbled out of his classroom, leaning on each other for support. That had not been a simple collapse brought on by exhaustion, despite Riddle’s attempt to claim as much. In fact, Barty had never even seen anything like what he’d just witnessed, the two of them slipping into unconsciousness in tandem, as though afflicted by an outside force. It could almost be likened to the effects of a Dementor attack, but of course none remained on the Hogwarts grounds.
They had remained in this state, huddled together on the floor, for several long seconds as he watched, unsure what to make of the sudden change in their behaviour. Then, in a terrifying unison, they’d both lifted their heads, looked him dead in the eye, and lovingly whispered the one curse Barty wanted most to teach them, but for obvious reasons, never could: Crucio.
And Barty had found himself staring into two identical pairs of eyes, positively burning crimson.
