The Bright Queen is such an interesting contrast to Ludinus, because by his worldview, she should be on his side.
She was also alive during the Calamity. She also lived with the immediate post-war devastation of the fighting (we don’t know where Ludinus lived for sure, but she’s arguably even more familiar with it. It’s called the Wastes of Xhorhas for a reason). She doesn’t worship any of the gods; indeed, Lolth personally hates her! She has plenty of reasons to hate the gods, or at least not care if they die.
But critically, she knows that Ludinus is a huge dickhead, and knows he is her enemy.
#cr spoilers#Ludinus#ludinus da'leth#leylas kryn#critical role spoilers#imo from what we know she has more “valid” reasons to want the gods dead. And yet!#This is phrased awkwardly i think but if i dont post it now i’ll forget#Mine#c3#c3e104

orym (of course) not wanting to go. orym (of course) not wanting to follow ludinus. orym not faulting any of his friends for going, not faulting any of his friends for following. he’s not angry. he’s tired. he’s not going. he’s not following. fearne looking not at ludinus or to the others but to orym. fearne simply asking “orym?” fearne asking orym. fearne asking orym what he wants. what will he do? what will she do? orym telling fearne go ahead. you can go. it’s ok. I understand. you can go. go ahead. fearne not pushing, not pressuring. fearne not moving. fearne affirming she won’t go without him. fearne affirming she won’t go if orym won’t go. fearne telling orym I go where you go and fearne showing orym I don’t go where you don’t go. orym giving in because she’s his best friend. he goes where she goes. he follows her. she’s asking. she’s giving him a choice. she’s giving him his choice. she’s giving him her choice. she’ll stay if he stays. he’ll go where she goes. orym tells fearne “you’ll have to hold me up.” and they both know what that means. fearne picks orym up. orym lets fearne pick him up. fearne carries orym. they’re only following each other.

“Clone ludinus should end up parenting baby lawbearer” blah blah blah. Casting aside the fact that this man should not be allowed within a mile of any child ever (outside meteor swarm range), you know who’d be so much better for him to get stuck with? Chuck baby torog at him and run.
You think you get peace, BlTCH? Nah. You have to deal with the horrible torture worm now, have fun~~~
Honestly, I don’t think it’d be too bad for him. Ludinus would get to yap all he wants and baby torog would be the only person in the world who’d actually sit and listen, because ludinus’ monologues count as a form of torture under the Geneva convention and torog is into that.
#the ONE child ludinus wouldn’t be able to traumatize#solely because he already has the most trauma ever anyways#ludinus’ care might honestly be an improvement on his quality of living#ludinus da'leth#ludinus#torog#the crawling king#torog the crawling king#cr spoilers#critical role spoilers#critical role#cr3

If the Hells really want to stop Ludinus, they should just try unionising the workers against him
#critical role#cr3#text post#ludinus#'do you not like how he was talking to you zathuda? wanna join our union?'#'fearing for your life while working under him liliana? have you considered.. going union?'#they have clerics on hand to help with any ailments or aches#as well as godly boons and bonus pay from world leaders#join the fight against him today!#ludinus has a lot of propaganda out there#they need to create their own propaganda against him#smear campaign#ludinus is an irrational heretic but with us you can actually talk to god!

i need to know so much more about Ludinus now. All we know is he said he was a child when Aeor fell; was he on it as it hurtled through the sky? Did he see the streets he grew up on crumble under him as everyone around him was rent asunder? Was he teleported away by a parent in the first moments? Or did he see it fall from the ground, watching any hopes and dreams of walking that great city fall with it? Did he once have faith in the gods? Or did he always harbor his animosity? Did he grieve, and does he still? How does he still have such conviction after all this time, what drives him?
I see a lot of folks saying downfall changes nothing, and Ludinus's arguments are pointless. But I think one of the most compelling things we could see next, as the Bell Hells come out of their vision, is Ludinus weeping quietly before them.
#i just want there to be more there#tell me your secrets matthew#little disclaimer: i do think luda shouldnt be like#the only person with the power to unleash predathos - thats a lotta unknowns and power to entrust to one shitty guy lol#but from a story perspective#from a narrative and audience perspective#i need to see more than just a hubris mage gunna hubris lol#grief is more interesting as a motivator to me idk#critical role#c3e101#cr: downfall#ludinus da'leth#ludinus#cr spoilers

My goals are worth destroying a city and killing a bunch of innocent people
You can't understand how I think because you are inexperienced children
I'm simply different from everyone else
Ludinus is not beating the you are like exactly like the gods allegations isn't he

Imogen is so soft yet cruel with her words to Ludinus, almost like how Laudna spoke with Ashton after he tried to take both shards in and nearly killed himself.
That parental authority looking down at a child who is in the middle of throwing a tantrum, and cutting them words that linger.

Whatever happened to the threat of broadcasting the Downfall tapes? That knowledge that was supposed to turn the whole world against the gods? Was that ever an important part of Ludinus’s plan, or did he decide that it wasn’t as important as sucking up Lilliana’s powers once he realized he couldn’t trust her?
#profoundly unsatisfying that this just vanished from the plot#but also it was pretty dumb that ashton was like ‘the gods will DEFINETLY kill us for knowing this’#and then three gods were like ‘yeah i did that. anyway can you perform a Task?’#critical role#campaign 3#ludinus#downfall

It was so funny to see Ludinus visibly frustrated and having a bad day this episode. Almost every other time we’ve seen him he’s been so smug and in control, so hearing him complain about dealing with the fey, and his allies is JUICY. His “Are you kidding me?” at the animating statue was so satisfying

ludinus’ sob story isn’t even a sob story. gods I hate him. he had one (1) bad day and made it everyone else’s problem for an entire millennia. this man really said “I lost my mother and father to a war larger than any of us so now I will ensure everyone loses their mother and father and son and daughter and sister and brother to a war larger than any of us.” why won’t men ever fucking Go To Therapy

ngl, some part of me has been like. okay? with the idea of the bell's hells failing and ludinus succeeding and dealing with the aftermath. like ideally, in a way with everyone alive and intact, but. it would have been interesting!(?) But now that beau and caleb are involved, some other part of me is like. :((( well. :(( what if this reflects poorly on their work :(((( i dont want to disturb their careers and domestic lives :(((((( which. i don't think is the biggest concern with an unlocked god eater but also. they've been trying SO hard to fuck over ludinus.
#also they should get to fuck over ludinus!!! emotional catharsis or w/e#critical role#cr spoilers#c3e50#ludinus#spar speaks#beauregard#caleb widogast#shitpost#this also does highlight a little of my personal trepidation of the c2 characters and priority taking up like. real estate and weight aroun#d c3 plot points but this is a joke post its fine#ok sleep time

I'm a few episodes behind CR right now, so maybe this theory has already been confirmed or debunked (no spoilers please!), but after the conversation in ep89 I was wondering:
Could it be possible that 'The Crush' on Ruidus roughly 300 years ago could have been caused by, or at least was related to, Ludinus fucking around and trying to commune with Predathos in Molaesmyr which then caused the city's destruction - which also happened roughly 300 years ago??
#it would be cool in a very terrible way if this was true. the idea that Ludinus was responsible for Molaesmyr falling was abhorrent enough#but what if he was actually responsible for all the chaos and destruction on Ruidus (including the fall of the Collective) as well?#fucking up your science experiment so bad you accidentally cause a societal collapse on the fucking moon#idk maybe I'm completely off the mark here or this has already been debunked but I think that would be interesting#non witcher#critical role#critical role spoilers#cr#critical role campaign 3#cr campaign 3#cr campaign three#campaign three spoilers#bells hells#ludinus#cr spoilers
