Shia Muslims protest in Lucknow on the third day of the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah
Tumblr media
Lucknow, October 1 (IANS) After the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, members of the Shia community in the Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow on Tuesday took out a candle march and protested. In fact, after the death of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, protests are being seen in many places of the country. In Lucknow too, on the third day of this incident, people of the Shia community protested by taking out a candle march. A large number of people from the Shia community participated in it. The protesters raised slogans of 'Down with Israel'. A protest march was taken out from Chhota Imambara to Bada Imambara in Lucknow. Maulana Yasub, general secretary of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, led the protest. The protesters raised slogans of Zindabad with the picture of Hezbollah's Syed Hassan Nasrallah in their hands and mourned his death. Women from the Muslim community also participated enthusiastically in the protest. Maulana Yasoob, general secretary of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, who was leading the protesters, said that they have been observing black day for the past three days. Hasan Nasralla was a strong leader and guide of the Shia community. Nasralla has done many great things for the Shia community and humanity. He played an important role in eliminating terrorist organizations like ISIS. Let us tell you that Nasrallah became the Secretary General of Hezbollah in 1992 at the age of 30. In the next 32 years, he made Hezbollah a major force not only in Lebanon but also in the Middle East. He became Israel's enemy number one. Finally, on Friday, the Jewish nation succeeded in eliminating its biggest enemy. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) attacked the Hezbollah headquarters in Dahieh, a southern suburb of Beirut, late on September 27, in which Nasrallah was killed. --IANS SCH/CBT

absolutely obsessed with the desi marauders hc! do you have any specific hcs? I'd love to hear them :]
Hii thank you so much haha
I was really only having fun with it I don't hc all of them as desi just James
But if they were, a few hcs I have are:
James is Punjabi and a typical one so anytime anyone stereotypes him he can't protest because it's almost always true but he speaks up for other desis getting stereotyped or if someone gets particularly mean
Sirius is the 'can't stick to a career' rich boy whose favourite directors are Imtiaz Ali and Karan Johar (yes both) and sirius' favourite movies are "Rockstar" and "Tamasha". He is definitely one of the people who is in the 'you won't understand Tamasha' club
Remus is from Lucknow and while he is not of the religion he fucks people up who disrespect Islam in any way. His favourite director is Satyajit Ray and his favourite place to visit in Delhi was the Faqirchand bookstore but hates it now because it became 'trendy'
Peter is from Indore, he definitely has the Indori accent and uses jeeravan (a common Indori spice) to spice up everything. He goes to 'Litchawk' and 'Jatra' every time they take place.
Lily is a South Delhi girl through and through and a regular visitor of the Faqirchand bookstore. She is a big fan of the poems of Rahimdas and Tulsidas and her favourite movie is Hema Malini's "Meera"
Marlene is a mumbaikar and has a love-hate relationship with Mumbai but in her mind she knows she'll never leave. I definitely think she has slept on the Marine Drive just to fuck with the police
Mary is a Malayalee and very very proud of her culture and follows it to the book. She gets up at 3 in the morning, prays, makes rangoli in front of her house, applies tailum to her hair and all the works. She knows Hindi but refuses to speak it and will deck you if you come to her house and ask for 'idli/dosa/sambhar'
Feel free to add to these if you like!

Thousands of doctors across major cities in India, including the capital, New Delhi, on Tuesday, joined in on protests sparked by the alleged rape and murder of a trainee last week.
A 31-year-old female medical trainee was found dead at one of the largest government hospitals in the eastern city of Kolkata on Friday. Her body sustained multiple injuries and an autopsy report described evidence of sexual violence.
After the incident, doctors walked off their jobs at government hospitals, demanding better security and safety measures for health workers. The chief of the institution involved, RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, resigned on Monday.
Protests flare as doctors demand better safety
Protests picked up across government-run facilities in the eastern state of West Bengal, home to Kolkata, on Monday — with doctors saying they would suspend emergency services as well until at least Tuesday.
"As resident doctors, we are on the frontline and deal with lots of patients, which makes us quite vulnerable to these attacks," Doctor Rajat Sharma, vice president of India's Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA), told DW.
"It's a scary situation which we see working on a daily basis. Doctors in West Bengal are protesting for their rights. We want to have better security for our resident doctors."
Around 75% of doctors in India have faced some form of violence, according to a survey by the Indian Medical Association.
Sharma's FORDA colleague Sarvesh Pandey told Indian media that doctors' demands included a specialized law protecting healthcare workers from violence on the job.
"There should be stringent security measures in hospitals and CCTV cameras should be installed," he said.
Students at universities in Kolkata also joined in on protests, demanding better safety measures for women in particular.
Sexual violence against women is a big problem in India.
The National Crimes Records Bureau reported that in 2021, an average of 86 rape cases were registered every day and 49 cases of crime against women lodged every single hour.
Protests spread to major cities, some services hampered
The incident has struck a nerve in the medical community who have repeatedly said they face threats from angry family members, especially in the case of bad news involving medical issues.
In the western Maharashtra state, home to financial capital Mumbai, around 8,000 doctors at government hospitals walked off their jobs on Tuesday.
In New Delhi, junior doctors wearing white coats held banners that read "Doctors are not punching bags" as they sat outside a big government hospital to demand an investigation into the incident.
Protests hampered medical services in the city of Lucknow in the most populous state of Uttar Pradesh, as well as in the popular tourist state of Goa.
How have Indian authorities responded?
The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday ordered the case to be transferred over to a federal agency, meaning that Kolkata police will have to submit all case documents to the agency.
Kolkata police initially set up a special investigative team and arrested a man in connection with the case.
City police chief Vineet Kumar Goyal told reporters a case had been registered against the suspect under provisions of the law relating to rape and murder.
The National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday sent notices to the director general of police and the chief secretary of West Bengal state, asking for a detailed report within two weeks.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee met the family of the victim on Monday, telling reporters later that police were "giving utmost importance to the investigation."

LUCKNOW, India (AP) — Authorities in a northern Indian town imposed an indefinite curfew and ordered police to shoot violators after clashes over the construction of a Muslim seminary and a mosque left at least five people dead and more than 150 injured, officials said Friday.
The violence Thursday also led authorities to shut down internet services and schools in Haldwani, Uttarakhand state government official Chief Radha Raturi said.
The situation was brought under control with nearly 4,000 police officers rushing to the area, said police officer A.P. Anshuman. He said police were ordered to shoot protesters violating the curfew.
On Thursday, thousands of protesters tried to block government officials and police who arrived to demolish the seminary and mosque following a court order that the structures were being built on government land without local authorization, Anshuman said.
As violence escalated, police fired live ammunition and tear gas to disperse protesters using petrol bombs and stones to attack a police station and set several vehicles on fire, Anshuman said.
State police chief Abhinav Kumar said five people died in the violence. He did not give details but said no fresh violence was reported on Friday.
Government administrator Vandana Singh Chauhan over 150 police officers were injured and several people were hospitalized.
Anshuman did not say whether police fire killed the protesters. He also didn't identify the religion of the victims.
Haldwani is about 270 kilometers (170 miles) northeast of New Delhi.
Muslim groups and rights organizations have accused India’s Hindu-nationalist government of demolishing their homes and businesses in the past. Officials have defended their actions, saying they are only targeting illegal buildings, but critics call it a growing pattern of “bulldozer justice” aimed at punishing activists from minority group.
In a report released this week, Amnesty International condemned several instances of bulldozers razing Muslims’ homes, businesses and places of worship, which it said was often done under the guise of illegal encroachment and without adequate notice.
“The unlawful demolition of Muslim properties by the Indian authorities, peddled as ‘bulldozer justice’ by political leaders and media, is cruel and appalling. Such displacement and dispossession is deeply unjust, unlawful and discriminatory,” said Agnès Callamard, the rights group’s secretary general.
The group’s researchers found that between April and June 2022, authorities in five states used demolitions as punishment following incidents of communal violence or protests, and documented at least 128 demolitions during this period.
Critics and opponents have long accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of looking the other way and sometimes enabling hate speech against Muslims, who comprise 14% of India’s 1.4 billion people.
Modi’s Bhartiya Janata Party denies the accusations.

“Passport Issuance Amid Pending Criminal Cases: A High Court’s Perspective”
Tumblr media
Kashif Ahmed v. Union of India
Criminal Writ Petition 2067/2024
Subject Issuance of passport when a criminal case is pending
Before Lucknow High Court
Heard by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Shameem Ahmad
Order Writ Petition was allowed on 22.03.2024 with the observation that no hard and fast straight jacket formula can be laid down regarding issuance of permission or giving no objection by the court concerned for issuance of passport.
Facts
The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vth Lucknow denied permission for renewal of the passport to the Petitioner Kashif Ahmad on the ground that the Court has no jurisdiction.
The Passport of the petitioner expired on 30.11.2019 and the marriage of his brother-in-law is scheduled in Saudi Arabia on 30.04.2024 and he wanted to attend the ceremony.
In December 2019, five cases were registered against him given his protest against the Citizen Amendment Act & National Register for Citizens. In all these pending criminal cases, the charge has not yet been framed by the Court.
Aggrieved by the denial of permission by the ACJM-Lucknow, the Petitioner approached Lucknow High Court seeking a Writ of Mandamus.
Submission of Petitioner's Counsel
The Petitioner’s Counsel contended that the Magistrate didn’t apply his mind while rejecting the application of the Petitioner.
Submission of the Respondent's Counsel
The Counsel for the Respondent-Union of India too affirmed the submission of the Petitioner’s Counsel quoting the Office Memorandum dt.10.10.2019 which provided an exemption to citizens of India against whom criminal proceedings in respect of an offence alleged to have been committed by them are pending before a criminal court in India and who produce orders from the court concerned permitting them to depart from India, subject to the following conditions, namely: -
1.      For the period as specified in the order of the court.
For renewal after the expiry of the stipulated period, a fresh court order is required specifying a further period of validity of the passport for travel abroad
2.      If no time is specified, a passport shall be issued for one year.
The passport can be further renewed for one year at a time, provided the applicant has not traveled abroad for the period sanctioned by the court; and in the meantime, the order of the court is not canceled or modified.
3.      If the time specified for travel abroad is less than one year but the validity of the passport is not specified then it shall be issued for one year.
And passport can be further renewed for one year at a time, provided the applicant has not traveled abroad for the period sanctioned by the court; and in the meantime, the order of the court is not canceled or modified.
4.      If the time specified for travel abroad is more than one year but the validity of the passport is not specified then the passport shall be issued for the period of travel as specified in the order.
In this situation renewal of the passport requires a fresh court order specifying a further period of validity of the passport or specifying a period for travel abroad.
5.      Apart from this, the citizen has to give an undertaking in writing to the passport-issuing authority that he shall, if required by the court concerned, would appear before it at any time during the continuance in force of the passport so issued.
6.      For issuance of a passport, a declaration has to be made by the applicant that the applicant has not been convicted by any Court of Law in India for any criminal offence and has not been sentenced to imprisonment for two years or more than two years with other relevant information.

How Israel Is Destroying Hezbollah - 4th Oct 2024
In this video, we dive deep into the recent meltdown of Hezbollah as Israel systematically eliminates its top leadership. From Nasrallah's downfall to the dismantling of Hezbollah’s terror infrastructure, we explore how Israel’s bold and decisive actions have left the terror organization in disarray. Watch as we break down the key strikes, including the historic airstrikes that took out Hezbollah’s top commanders, sending shockwaves across the Middle East and beyond.
We also discuss the impact of Hezbollah's collapse, both regionally and globally. While many celebrated Nasrallah’s demise, certain groups, including some in India, were seen mourning the death of a terrorist, highlighting the deep-rooted ideological divides. From political rallies in Kashmir to protests in Lucknow, we uncover how Hezbollah’s influence has reached far beyond Lebanon, and why some are openly supporting a terrorist leader in the name of solidarity.
Lastly, we reflect on the lessons India can learn from Israel’s approach to counter-terrorism. Israel has shown the world how to not just fight, but utterly dismantle terror organizations, leaving no room for regrouping. It’s time India adopts a similarly tough stance against its own threats, and sends a clear message: terrorism will not be tolerated, and those who support it will meet the same fate.

UP Woman Molested In Ambulance, Ailing Husband Thrown Out Without Oxygen
A woman was allegedly molested inside an ambulance in Uttar Pradesh while accompanying her husband to a hospital. After assaulting her, the ambulance workers also threw her and her husband out of the vehicle after removing his oxygen support.
Tumblr media
The woman's husband died during treatment at Gorakhpur Medical College.
The incident occurred on August 30 in Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh.
The woman had taken her husband Harish to nearby Basti Medical College after he was sick for a few days. Doctors at the hospital referred him to a different hospital as his condition deteriorated. Unable to pay the private hospital's fee, the woman took her husband back home to get treatment.
In the ambulance, the driver forced her to sit in front with him and along with his aide sexually harassed her. When she tried to protest and shout, they stopped her husband's oxygen supply and threw him out of the ambulance along with her.
The ambulance driver also stole her jewelry, she alleged. Her husband was severely injured and his health deteriorated after the oxygen supply was cut.
After the victim narrated her ordeal to her brother on phone, he informed the police.
The police took the injured man to the hospital where he died later.
The victim alleged that the police did not make any attempt to arrest the ambulance driver and his aide. She has given a written complaint in the matter in Ghazipur police station of Lucknow.
Additional Director General of Police Lucknow North Jitendra Dubey said that a woman from Siddharthnagar district has given a complaint in Lucknow's Ghazipur police station about the ambulance workers' alleged assault.

Fecal contamination found in 8 of 15 water samples collected from high-rise in Ghaziabad
Tumblr media
Residents of Saya Gold Avenue society, Indirapuram, during a protest.
Following complaints of diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach pain and fever by scores of residents last week, the UP health department has found fecal contamination in eight water samples out of 15 collected from Saya Gold Avenue society in Indirapuram.
Officials from the Ghaziabad office of the health department said the samples were taken from underground and overhead tanks, adding a total of 762 persons had diarrhoea-like symptoms while 17 people were admitted in the hospital.
Officials, meanwhile, said it was not clear how the water got contaminated.
“The maintenance staff has been instructed to clean the tanks again, do effective and regular chlorination of the tanks, and provide clean drinking water,” said Rakesh Kumar Gupta, District Surveillance officer, Ghaziabad.
Meanwhile, the residents of the complex have been asked to boil water and use chlorine tablets. Officials said that a total of 35 patients were provided health care in the health camp organised on Monday; out of these, 16 patients were suffering from stomach ache and diarrhoea while 19 had complained of vomiting and other issues.
“Out of the 17 patients admitted, 13 are still receiving treatment in various private hospitals. Nobody is in a serious condition. Water samples and stool samples are being collected for further testing. They will be sent to KGMU, Lucknow, to find out the exact cause of the incident. It is not clear how the water got contaminated. Regular cleaning of the tank must be done according to the rules,” said Gupta.
He said the department will collect around 20 samples on Tuesday from other housing societies in the area. When contacted by The Indian Express, the CEO of Saya builders did not respond to requests for a comment.
Ghaziabad Chief Medical Officer Bhavtosh Shakhdhar said that the department will run a campaign soon and ask the residents to get tested if they have any symptoms.
“As far as action is concerned, we will forward the report to the Lucknow office. From there, it will be sent to the Ghaziabad Development Authority, which is the appropriate body to fix accountability,” said Shakhdhar.
