Rod: surprisingly sensible and steady. is nervous and antsy in the beginning but admires both his fathers A Ton so tries his best to bring their best qualities to the forefront: ever present and very loving. quiet but very supportive parent, encourages his child’s pursuits of any interest (be it a hobby or a person). will fucking snide anyone who talks smack about his kid being a fine arts major. may be a little overbearing and critical at times but only because he wants the best for his child. 

Karma: pta mum. throws hands every weekend with karen and her disgusting brownies. will let you know how his kid is better than yours in a very smug and ‘oh did you hear’ kind of way. lets his kid know all the time that they deserve the whole fucking world. maybe spoils them a bit too much. meddles in the kid’s love life all the time. the weaker parent to the puppy eyes. doesnt like to play bad cop, tends to give in to the kid a lot lmao.

Rumpel: super straight laced parent in the streets, absolute mess in the sheets. gives kid unsolicited advice 24/7. workaholic dad but always makes it in home for dinner and keeps his weekends free. slides a cake into their room when theyre sad bc he doesnt want to force them to talk but Also doesnt want them to be sad alone. definitely disappointed when kids dont want to follow in his footsteps but very enthusiastic in seeing what they want to forge for themselves.

Fritz: must call if staying past curfew or he’ll call the cops and make them put out an amber alert. overprotective and can be smothering but very, very loving and never gives his children a reason to doubt that love. 100% behind his kid and is proud of them no matter what - from acing a test to egging a house. will say ‘i love you’ and tuck them in every night, even when they’re grown, and will fucking Cry when they move out/leave his side. definitely punched another dad once.

Waltz: actually the best dad. a natural with handling people, a safe figure to confide in, knows when to pry, and when to leave his kid alone. showers kids with lots of love, never lets them go without. the type to read bedtimes stories at night and puts peeled oranges into their lunch boxes. last day of school its an unpeeled orange and a note that says “its time to learn how to peel your own oranges :”(”. can be too nice/soft, but stern when it comes to necessary discipline.

Lucette: stern but fair mother, always encouraging and kind but will scold her child if needed. talks to her children like theyre adults, but always expects them to behave like kids. plays bad cop as often as she tells them ‘i love you’. an unsure parents and lots of self-doubt in the beginning, but never fails to put her child first. shows her love through actions more than words. trying her best to be better every day.

“Do you play any instruments, princess?” Karma suddenly asks.

Lucette looks up from the book she is reading. “I fail to see how this is any of your business.”

“C’mon, princess!” The redhead called, good-naturedly. “Humour me on this one, will you?”

“She does play the clavichord.” Jurien pipes, disinterested, as she shuffles the cards for another round of tarot.

“She does? How would you know that, Jurien?” The disguised person asked, very interested in the subject.

“We could hear her practice from the training grounds. It was rather nice.” The blonde responded.

A look of recognition passed through Garlan’s features. “Yes, you’re right! We could listen to it! I remember listening to the monochord, too, on occasion.”

Lucette could not hold back a scoff. The pair of knights could not remember her presence in the palace, but remembered the music that she played alone, in her own time. She wonders if Delora made any alterations to her curse just to vex her.

“Oh, really? How about a demonstration, princess?” Karma smirked. “I just so happen to have a monochord on my possession.”

“No.” The forgotten princess responded, blunt.

“Playing tarot without music is so boring, though!” He complains, dramatic. “I’m sure that this would count as a good deed, you know?”

“If one could play their way out of a curse with a monochord, there would be no need for this boarding house.” The girl pointed out, unconvinced.

“True, but what is the harm in trying?” The man in a dress conceded.

“I would love to hear that composition you played often again. I’ve never heard it anywhere else.” Garlan requested.

Jurien beams at the memory. “Yes, I remember! It was great!”

Lucette sighed. “Are you going to leave me alone if I play?”

“Of course, princess, but only if you’re good.” Karma winked at her.

"Fine, then. Where did you say that the monochord is again, Karma?" She called, just as she is about to ascend the staircase up to the dormitories.

“I lent it to Rumpel. He wanted to see whether he was a musician or not. I assume he wasn’t.” The redhead comments.

The girl narrows her amber eyes. “He’s out.”

“Indeed, my lady.”

“How do you expect me to bring you the monochord if it’s with Rumpel, who’s out?” She asked, as petulant as she could manage.

“Why, he mustn’t have taken it with him. Just go into his room and pick it up.”

The princess glared at the man. “I won’t go into his room without his permission.”

"It’s my monochord, and I’m taking it back. It shouldn’t be too difficult to pick it up, it’s just by Rumpel's bed. You can't miss it." Karma replied, shooting the princess a grin as he checked the hand that he was dealt.

“Fine. I’m going.” Lucette grumbled.

Stupid man. Stupid monochord. Stupid game. She thinks as she walks over, feeling bitter. It’s tarot. Why do they need music so?

The redhead girl grabbed the banister with a dark grimace, trying to lurch up the stairs two steps at a time as she hummed to a random melody. It seemed, though, that this completely shrouded the faint sound of lustful moans coming from the other side of the wall.

So, when she bounded into the room, pondering "Where's that stupid monochord?" out loud, she is startled to see him.

"Princess!"

Rumpel.

And a girl.

Both their clothes are crumpled and half-off their bodies as they scrambled apart from their formerly heated make out session.

"Oh, my sweet…!" She shrieked.

The sound alerted the rest of the boarding house, who came tumbling from downstairs.

“Oh ho! Look what we have here!” Delora sneered. “How lewd of you.”

“Children, please, this is not proper.” Parfait bemoaned.

While the world fell all around her, Lucette could not bear take her hands off her burning face. She has never seen such a thing in her life; in fact, her mother incessantly warned her against such a behaviour.

She immediately pivoted back towards the exit, her heart lurching through her throat as she babbled rage-filled exclamations.

“I swear…! I never…! Such a…!”

“Don’t be so innocent, princess.” Delora called, chuckling heartly from the whole situation. “This is an act of love. Well, perhaps not so much in this case.”

The fairy elbowed her friend. “Delora, please, don’t make this worse! Princess, you may go back to your room. Rumpel, Velouria, we need to talk. This is unacceptable behaviour in this house!”

She composed herself, squeaking out an, "Excuse me" before running back down the hallway.

Lucette flung yourself into her own room, not being able to bear seeing the rest of her housemates after such a humiliating incident. She flopped down onto her bed, groaning dramatically into her pillow.

It was just her luck to have walked in on that. For all her horrors amongst the peasantry, for all the things that she feared being subjected to, this sort of indecency was not amongst it. Yes, she had been told that the manners amongst the lower strata were looser, and she levelled this insult towards her stepmother time and time again, but still… Parfait seems keen in keeping a peaceful boarding house, and so, relationships of that nature seem to be frowned upon.

She hoped the rest of the boarders could not notice her petrified state and her pinkened cheeks when you came back into the common room after a short while, hoping to put this unpleasantness behind her. As she steps foot on it, though, to her surprise, Karma was playing his monochord, as Rumpel, Jurien and Garlan played another round of tarot.

“Good to have you back, princess. Did you enjoy your little nap?” Karma asks, lightly.

“I forgot my book downstairs.” Lucette defended, walking towards the couch to pick up the discarded volume.

“Since you’re already here, why don’t you stay for a minute? I am blessing our companions with my musical virtues.” He declared, congratulating himself as he is prone to do.

“He’s fine, I suppose.” Rumpel argued.

As he speaks out and her eyes focus on him, the embarrassed pink tinge returns to her cheeks as Lucette meets his gaze.

The redhead glared at the other man. “Come and do better, if it’s so easy!”

“Boys! No fighting.” Jurien warned, tiredly.

To her surprise, saw Velouria for a single moment in the distance, before she huffled out the door, into the cold night in the town, a discontented glare on her face their eyes crossed.

"Have mercy on me." She muttered, covering her face with her hands

As Lucette bemoans her situation, she can hear Rumpel chuckle and sit down beside her.

"Don't worry, princess. Velouria is just pissed. It wasn't your fault." He laughed, prying her hands off her still cringing face.

"A girl? I didn't know you had a girl up there, Rumpel." Karma mused, a humorous smirk on his face as he knew she must have walked in on it.

"Why's she leaving all stroppy?" Garlan questioned, taking a sip of his beer.

"So, what was it, really?" Jurien questioned, rolling her eyes impatiently.

"Leaving yet another girl unsatisfied, huh?" Karma joked.

Rumpel just grinned, absentmindedly sliding his tongue over the upper row of his teeth as he picked up some cards from the floor, his amused nodding dismissing the implications of his rival’s accusation completely.

Everyone knew that no girl had ever left Rumpel's room unsatisfied.

The blond man chuckled, shaking his head as the small circle all turned to look at him. "I called her the wrong name, of all things."

The group let out amused laughter, before turning back to the card game. Typical Rumpel.

"Whose?!" Garlan pressed on.

"Forget it, I'm not telling the likes of you." Rumpel lightly kicked the knight’s foot with his outstretched one, rolling his eyes.

“You’re disgusting, Rumpel.” Lucette declared. “I’m going to my room. Have the decency of washing your own bedsheets from now on.”

As she leaves, thumping and cussing, she could not help but blush yet again when their eyes briefly locked. Considering the situation, it is not too difficult to gauge whose name it was that he called in his moments of passion. As it turns out, the princess had inadvertently disturbed their little escapade twice.

Because Rumpel could not stop thinking about her, no matter how hard he tried to.

I have been wondering for a while now. What characters from otome have taugh you valuable lessons? Is that characters your favorite or not?

Actually, now when I think about, I was a really horrible person back in school. I was selfish, I loved manipulating people for my own benefit, I was fake and sometimes I break people's hearts without second thought. Now you might be thinking 'Woah! This girl used be an asshole in school.' Yes! I was....and now when I think about it.....I hate myself.

Now that I'm an adult, I think it's not only otome games and anime that played a part in changing me. It's just, once I became an adult I left behind my childish behavior and started....to be a better person.

Usually when I play an otome game, or watch an anime or even a movie, I do end up learning a thing or two but most of the time I forget about the movie after 2 or 3 weeks, but that life lesson always follows me everywhere. Now otome games, has played a big part in my life but I don't remember every otome games story clearly now....but I'll try. Also most of them might not be my favorites!!

Lance (Nameless) - I learned how to cherish even the smallest thing that happens in my life.

There is a scene if I remember correctly, where Lance was standing near a trash can in the rain and sees a barbie doll in the trash can.

I felt really bad when I saw that. A doll for me used be a thing that never had feelings. Even if break it or throw it away, it would never cry or even curse me(unless it's possessed)

But now, after seeing that scene, I started to put myself in it’s place and I started to feel how worse it was. A doll you loved so much as a kid is now thrown away like a piece of trash.

From then on, started loving everything I have whether it’s a living thing or non-living thing. Even the laptop I used to write this, even the phone I used to play games, even the pillow I cuddle with in my bed are all precious treasures to me and I want no one to even touch them.

This might sound like I’m crazy, but I don’t care. I love everything that my parents offered me and will cherish it till the end.

Also, do I like Lance? Yup. He’s my 2nd fav. of this game!

Soi (Nameless) - Looking at your own self before criticizing others.

Soi might be an extra in the game, but I still loved her every time she showed up. She’s always shown to be a true friend towards Eri(MC) and always liked her for who she is.

I haven’t played the entire game, but in one route, when Eri tells her friends that she has a hobby of collecting dolls and was ready to hear her friends bashing her about being childish and stuff, Soi was very casual about it and didn’t say anything.

When Eri asked if she was weird for having such a hobby, Soi gives a savage reply like “Dude, I already have many problems in my own life to deal with. Why would I want to increase my burden with yours’= too?” or something like.

That was a very good lesson for me to learn. Before you go out and tell people how should they behave or criticize them, first check yourself. Are you a good person? Is your life problems already solved before you go out and solve other person’s problems?”

Seriously, if you have these kind of people in your life, tell them to FUCK OFF! because they’re toxic as hell.

Lucette (Cinderella Phenomenon) - The person you love and trust might not always be a good person.

Everyone has a person they trust and love. For some, it might be their friends, for some it might be siblings, or for some it might be their pets. No one has the right to judge. But the person you trust might not feel the same way for you.

In this beautifully made game, the MC, Lucette is disliked by everyone because she’s rude, arrogant and never trusted anyone other than her mother. But in the end of the story !! SPOILER ALERT!! her mother was the villain in her entire life.

 Her own mother made her not trust anyone, even her own father for her entire life. When she learned about this truth, she was literally heart broken because the only person she ever loved didn’t love her back. But life doesn’t end there. She stands up again and tries to reconcile with her father, stepmother and step siblings.

Going through betrayal and experiencing heart breaks is traumatizing but it’s also a part of learning....you will learn to not trust anyone blindly. Life doesn’t end there, you have to keep moving on and one day you’ll surely find a person you can trust and rely on.

If you’re still alone, then keep a pet. There is no rule that you should only love humans, right?

Sovieshu (The remarried empress webtoon/ interactive game/light novel) - It only takes one small mistake to collapse your entire world.

It takes great hard work and time to create an strong Empire, but did you know that one small mistake is enough to destroy everything in your life. The webtoon Remarried Empress is a right example of that. (If you haven’t read this, I highly recommend it.)

Sovieshu is piece of SHIT! I won’t lie, but he has thought me this lesson. Sovieshu is a Great Emperor along with Navier, who is the Empress of their country. They both were trained to be the king and queen since they were children and both were the best of friends. Even if they were not lovers, they were still married and Navier has always been faithful towards her husband and the entire Empire.

But one day, Sovieshu happened to meet tRashta(slave) and fell in love with her at first sight. Without doing any background check of her past or anything, he brings her home and makes her his concubine. Navier was kinda sad but she didn’t want to show it because she was the Queen and she had to, you know, keep her public image at the top. But Sovieshu on the other hand started becoming abusive and compared Navier with tRashta. Even though Navier didn’t do anything, he  kept on accusing her for bullying tRashta everyday. It’s like he would wait in the corner, hiding, looking at Navier and tRashta interacting and when he see tRastha crying, he comes running to her and starts to scold Navier in front of the whole public. He’s such an asshole. Later he does give her a divorce (stating that she’s infertile) because, tRashta was pregnant with his baby and he didn’t want to make her baby, a bastard because, tRashta is not his wife. But on the other hand, he also didn’t want to leave Navier because she was a perfect Queen in every way. So his plan was to divorce her for one year, and marry tRashta till the baby was born, so the baby becomes the princess. Later he’ll annul their divorce, so by doing this he has both tRashta and Navier. He’s such an asshole.

But Navier had other plans. So right when her divorce was agreed by the priest, she requested for a remarriage. From here own, Sovieshu’s tragedy starts. Later in the story he finds out that, it wasn’t Navier who was infertile but it was him all along. Even the baby tRashta carried was not his. After this betrayal, Sovieshu lost his mental stability and went through severe depression. See! That’s all it takes for your world to collapse. One single mistake is what is needed.

Kurama(Ikemen Genjiden) - What’s wrong with being yourself?

IDK if your family is like this, but my family is like “You have to learn to eat everything. Like vegetables, meat etc etc” with a reason that you’ll be able to live any circumstances.

I would like to say that, I’m a very picky eater. I hate vegetables, especially tomatoes. If I even see one small piece of tomato in my food.....I won’t throw the whole food away, I’ll just take the piece and put it on the side of the plate and also yell at my mom for putting tomatoes in my food. I’m also a vegetarian. I hate tasting meat but I don’t mind eating food in the small table as my non-veg father. Also, unlike my family members, I’m very punctual. (because I’m an introvert and I don’t like getting the extra attention when I’m late!!)

These are just some of the facts of me being me. My family always complains that I shouldn’t choose how I want to be and must always be perfect in everything because I’m a girl and girls are married off when they get older, right? (It’s bullshit.)

The only people who loves me for who I am are my parents. They never once told me to do this or that like my useless uncles and aunts who have never ever contributed anything in my life.

Kurama as a character, I love him, because he is just being himself. He’s like ‘I’ll do whatever I want and no one has the right to stop me.’ 

That quote is so beautiful. I mean, why are you being fake for the sake of being accepted by the society. The people who truly loves you will love you for who you are. Do the things the way you like. Eat what you like, drink what you like, watch whatever you like. If you like anime, and your friend wants to watch sports, watch anime in your phone with your head phones. It’s better than watching sports you don’t like and creating an awkward environment by acting you know every player in the team, right?

No one has the right to judge anyone. If anyone does come and tell you “Hey, you should not do this like this way, but you should do it this.”, tell that person “ I’ll do whatever I want and no one has the right to stop me. “

Yoritomo and Yoshino(Ikemen Genjiden)- Not everyone is perfect.

I never understood what is the meaning behind being a perfect man or perfect human. Does it mean you have good figure on the outside but at the same time you’re toxic as hell inside? or does it mean you’re very intelligent but at the same time you’re socially awkward? 

Not everyone is perfect. Not everyone is good at every single thing and not everyone has to be good at everything.

Yoritomo as a character, always wears a perfect smile indicating others how good he is. But in reality, he’s very lonely and also needs someone to look after him just like anyone else.

There is nothing wrong with being independent and doing everything on your own. But there is also nothing wrong in depending on someone for things you can’t do. If anyone boldly claims that “I don’t need anyone to love me, I’m fine without anyone” it’s all bullshit! Don’t believe in that kind of nonsense.

Even if you’re the king of the world or even if your a roadside homeless puppy, everyone needs love and support in their life. Everyone needs some one they could talk to, even if it’s just trivial.

It will at least give them a small amount happiness even though it doesn’t worth anything. That’s why I’m telling you, if you don’t have a lover or friends or parents or any human being to talk to, adopt a pet or something.

Cinderella Phenomenon Evermore: Walkthrough & 100% Achievements Guide

This guide is for the visual novel Cinderella Phenomenon Evermore, which is the sequel visual novel to Cinderella Phenomenon. It explores life after the events of Cinderella Phenomenon and both the original and this are honestly some of my favorite games ever. it is highly recommended you play the original game first.

Please make sure to turn off the Right Choice Indicator for an achievement! I did my first route blind dfsafsa as someone who uses walkthroughs ALWAYS, this was painful for me LOL to get this achievement without some kind of guide honestly 

You're in for the ride of a lifetime if you love Cinderella Phenomenon just like me ^°^ Let me know if anything is wrong, and I'll fix it! I'm not sure what the parameters are for a good vs best ending but I think it's the majority?

There's not a recommended route order but here’s my personal recommended order: Chevalier --> Rod --> Karma --> Fritz --> Waltz

Rod: To achieve his best ending, you should be straightforward and honest like Lucette was in the first game (except she's a lot nicer about it lmao)

Klaude: To achieve Klaude's best ending, you should keep him and his preferences (hobbies and favorites) in mind.

Chevalier: To achieve Chevalier's best ending, you should do your best to encourage him instead of doing it yourself, generally speaking.

Fritz: I'm not going to lie, if I had to do this route blind, I would've gotten a lot of these wrong (which is not a surprise since I got most of Rod's incorrect lmao) Some of them are pretty counterintuitive in my honest opinion, but just keep in mind logic and also Fritz (specifically because he is very selfless).

- Congratulate - Croissant - Speak up - Accompany Fritz - Offer him the cup of tea - Teach me how to defend myself - Hide - Dismiss Fritz's worries - I loved him - Thirty years - Yes - Play along - I'd like to dance with you again - Intercept the knight - Talk about the future

Waltz: For Waltz's Best ending, stay true to yourself and remember Waltz's preferences. He’s best boy imo but that’s also just me LOL

Cinderella Phenomenon: Evermore (Submission)

It is I, Cinderella Phenomenon anon (that's still a lot of fun to say), returning after all this time... because, you see, the visual novel's sequel has finally been released!  So I'm typing this up as I play, to update you on what happens with stepsiblings-to-lovers Lucette and Rod after the events of the first game.  And boy, am I hyped--I've been waiting for this for 3 years (so I apologize in advance for the length).  So onward we go, to what happens after the "happily ever after."

Two years have passed, and Lucette has begun repairing her fractured relationship with her father, as well as becoming closer to her stepfamily after the events of CP1.  We open with her eagerly waiting for a letter from Rod, something that happens regularly.  For the past year, he has been acting as a dance instructor in a friend's neighboring kingdom, as a result of a wish he made because "he insisted that if he wanted to prove himself worthy of [Lucette's] hand, he needed to recraft his reputation from the ground up."  Lucette doesn't agree it's necessary and kinda resents how he made this decision without considering her feelings.  It's been two months since his last visit, and she worries he might not miss her as much as she misses him.

Since the first game, both the queen and king have found out about their children's relationship (and they love and support them).  The couple continued to keep it secret from the public because of how it would look.  But eventually, in the face of such strain, they turned to magic, hence Rod's wish.

Essentially, it works like Lucette's curse did--he wished to be a commoner, so he'd be free to pursue the woman he loves.  (He made sure the wish would only affect himself, not Emelaigne or their mother, because he's still so devoted to his family, and in light of that, he had one more parameter.  His family still remembers who he is--as well as the other characters from CP who are involved in magic and such--and he writes to the whole family regularly.)

Although obviously his family misses him, Em says of herself and their parents, "Rod loves you, Lucette.... It's why we decided to support his decision.  We want you both to be happy."  Although it's not completely unexpected as a viewer, it's sweet that they all came together to support the relationship and what Rod feels the need to do.  Even when it makes things hard, when they can't show affection for him in public when he's supposed to be a commoner.  (Also, Em and Lucette really have come so far in their sisterly bond in the past couple years, and it's also so sweet.)

Rod returns to the castle, having kept his visit secret to surprise Lucette.  They're so happy to see each other and so unabashed about showing it--such a far cry from the dislike --> very grudging fondness that used to characterize their dynamic.  They've grown a lot more comfortable with showing their feelings for each other (even in front of their dad).

Though they can still be delightfully tsundere toward each other, as seen after Lucette's initial shock at the reunion wears off.  ("I missed your glower," she tells him.  "Do you have to point out every time my face changes?" he asks, and she says, "If it embarrasses you, then yes." They're such a delight.)

Rod is here under the guise that he's become the new royal dance instructor until the upcoming ball--never mind how, if you'll recall from the first game, Lucette is an accomplished dancer, as evidenced by their dance scenes together.  The couple has a rendezvous the next day in the forest where they used to meet up before their parents found out about their relationship, and they dance together again.

The announcement of the new dance instructor causes a stir in the castle.  Lucette overhears a couple maids wondering about why they've seen Rod visit the castle in the past, and one posits that he may be courting Emelaigne since they seem very close (as Lucette struggles not to laugh). The other maid notes how similar Rod and Em look, and wonders if he's courting Lucette instead.

Meanwhile, it's clear that Rod and Em are hiding something from Lucette, and she's unsure what (calling it now, he's gonna propose).  Obviously it's not related to the previous speculation, nor does Lucette assume anything of the sort, but since the scene happens right afterward, it's funny to note. After Em leaves, Lucette tells Rod about the "courting Em" rumors to mess with him (they still have a bickery-siblings type of dynamic, which is fun). He's bewildered and asks if there were rumors about him courting Lucette, but she teases that "I suppose we have no chemistry." He says, "That just means our acting is impeccable."

However, Lucette gets somber then, asking him how long they'll have to keep pretending they aren't together.  Since Rod made this wish so they wouldn't have to hide their love anymore, why are they still having to hide? She asks if he's worried the people will judge him harshly like they did to his mom when she married the king, but Rod says he doesn't care if they judge him, but is worried about how they'll judge Lucette.

Rod says that when he'd told Lucette about the wish he wanted to make last year, he thought she'd seemed hopeful, even if she was concerned--otherwise he wouldn't have gone through with it. He assures her that he has a plan. "From here on out," he tells her, "we face our problems together."  It's nice that--even if they still struggle with communication at times, because of their histories--they've gotten better at it.  They dance together again.

The next day, Rod and the king tell Lucette that Rod has officially requested permission to court her, so they won't have to keep hiding now.  Again, Lucette is thrilled and not ashamed to show it (again, even in front of their dad--who just reacts to this stuff with a fond smile, and I love that).

Also, something I didn't bring up in my previous review of CP, but it comes up in another conversation here--how there's a parallel between the ideas of commoners marrying royals (with the queen and king) and Rod and Lucette's relationship, in the original and now in the sequel when Lucette mentions (when a little boy mentions that her suitor "isn't" a prince) how titles "should not be a hindrance when it comes to love" and everyone should be free to love whomever they want.

Their friends throw them a celebration for their courtship.  It's nice how they're surrounded by supportive family and friends.  Also someone tells Lucette "I'm glad you found someone just as stubborn as you to cherish," which totally sums up their dynamic tbh.

(I'd also like to mention a new dynamic introduced in the sequel.  Parfait, an important character from the original, has a cousin Sinna who she's training to be her successor now.  He's grouchy as opposed to Parfait's gentle kindness, though she assures them that he's "quite pleasant once you get to know him" and seems to genuinely mean it.  Lucette immediately sees the similarities with Rod, and I love it. There's undoubtedly more going on with Sinna in other routes since they wouldn't introduce a new character otherwise, but he doesn't show up much in this one. Still, they're fun.)

Meanwhile, both Lucette and Emelaigne have noticed that Rod is stressed and overworking himself, and they're determined to help him.  I love how they're a team when it comes to looking out for him, even if he doesn't want them to. Lucette finds out he's been learning to swordfight in secret, believing that this will benefit the couple in the long run. He isn't ready to explain what he means yet, though.

Sebby (his plush former translator when he was cursed with silence) assures Lucette that it's less that Rod's keeping a secret and more that he wants to surprise her, and Rod confirms this later and assures her that he just didn't want her to worry for him (too late, buddy).  But now he's realizing he did just that.

Again, it's nice to see how they're getting better with communication, but still struggling with it because of their past baggages. This feels like a natural continuation of both their individual character arcs and their relationship arc. Also, Rod's definitely trying to subtly get a feel for Lucette's thoughts on marriage now.

Emelaigne has a potential suitor, and it's nice to see her and Lucette talking relationships and how Em treats this potential romance and Lucette/Rod's romance just the same. She's a wonderful, accepting angel and we don't deserve her. Also she hasn't told Rod yet because he can be "very overprotective.  One time, a suitor sent me flowers, and Rod trailed him back to his home and bombarded him with questions. ...He's always been that way." I love what a fiercely protective brother Rod is, despite being a couple years younger than Em. And then Lucette jokes about peppering this potential suitor with questions to make sure he's "worthy" of Em too.  (The ot3 is real, y'all.)

The ball arrives, and--yep, called it! Rod proposes to Lucette. The whole family congratulates them (and again, it's so nice to see how they've come to wholeheartedly accept their relationship... but then, how could they not, when it's helped both of them grow so much?). And the day Lucette walked in on Rod and Em being suspicious, he'd been showing Em the ring and they had to hide it from Lucette quickly. Rod and Lucette dance together again, and I just really like dancing as a recurring motif that shows the evolution of their relationship.

(And then they go to talk together in her room after the ball. Lucette asks him to stay the night so she can sleep next to him, and they're so endearingly awkward about it. He's all "I want to stay with you. Tonight and... whenever you'll have me. And I'll do... whatever you're comfortable with." Which is currently lots of kissing and then sleeping, but god, they're cute and wholesome af.)

Several months pass since the engagement, and Lucette and Rod are studying to make sure they'll be the best rulers they can be once their father cedes the throne. Meanwhile, Em is going for a visit to her new beau's country, so the couple makes her a plush together (Rod is awful at it, but as always he works so hard) to make her feel more at home while she's away. Also Rod mentions his worry that Em will be gone for a while and make them wait like he made Lucette wait, and the explicit parallel is neat. Plus, I just love how much this whole family, imperfect as it is, cares for each other.

Also, even though the wedding isn't just yet, Rod goes ahead and makes his vows to Lucette in her room that evening, and... yeah, judging by how they wake up the next day, it was definitely more than kissing this time. But still wholesome af. Rod teases her for being embarrassed until she threatens to kiss him to shut him up, which was totally the plan all along. The "shut up" kiss is definitely a pattern with them, and another fun thing about the dynamic. the story ends with an ending card assuring the audience that their love lasted forevermore.

Alternately to the last paragraph (depending on player choices), there's a nice scene of Rod and Lucette in the woods where they used to covertly meet up for their dates, and a really nice line from Rod: "Fate sure loves to toy with us. [a callback to the previous game] ...For you, I would do anything.  Confronting fate was nothing." They make a pinkie promise (aww) to not keep any more secrets and to instead face everything together in the future.

So we only get 2 Good Endings on this route, y'all. Hell yes. They're adorable together, I love the continuation of their arcs, and I'm so happy that they did get the acceptance and congratulations on their relationship that they deserved from the people they love. Also, Emelaigne = best sister/wingman, confirmed again.

Sorry for the length of this commentary. As I said, I was writing it as I played through Rod's route of the sequel for the first time, and I couldn't help but gush because they're so delightful. If you read all this, I really appreciate it!

Cinderella Phenom-ANON here--quick addition to my submission about the sequel as I continue playing! In Klaude's route, we get to know his younger brother Lance, and they're both charming and very competitive with each other, with their similarities spurring the rivalry, which is fun. It's also confirmed that (outside the route where they get together) Lucette and Rod are also competitive with each other, and apparently they have a running challenge about who's the better dancer, lol

The Six Children of Lucette and Koray

(Also known as the Six Grandchildren of Artorias)

Leofred - Technically the eldest child out of litter, having been born 5 minutes before Idmaer, Leofred is the stern faced, exasperated twin brother of Idmaer. He finds his brother’s tricks and pranks tiresome and annoying but is always willing to lend a helping hand to him if needed and will gladly lie his brother out of trouble. Leofred has a relative short amount of patience for anyone outside close friends and family, but amount endless for his family. Underneath his feelings of exasperation at his brother, Leofred holds a secret sort of pride at how cunning Idmaer is and is always quick to correct him whenever he made jokes about Leofred being the “smart twin”. He does not tolerate any of siblings putting themselves down, even as jokes. That’s his job.

Idmaer - The particularly troublesome prankster out of the litter and the twin brother of Leofred. Unlike his more quiet and stern brother, Idmaer always has a grin on his face and a mischievous look in his eye. He uses his cunning mind for tricks and pranks on unsuspecting courtiers and knights and always enjoys the chaos his actions cause. Though, not so much the lecture and scolding and groundings his mother gives. He loves teasing and messing around but when night falls, enjoys listening to his brother tell him about what he read during the day. As a sort of bedtime story type thing. He will interrupt and comment his thoughts but will allow his brother to continue. He secretly looks up to Leofred, feeling a brotherly pride at how smart his twin brother is. 

Teodora - Teodora is a sweet and adventurous girl who loves exploring the castle and other places, sometimes into places she shouldn’t be. She inherited her mother’s endless curiosity and never shies away from asking questions. If she wasn’t given an adequate answer, she will search for it herself. She is usually the one to catch her older brothers’ mid prank and will gladly hold it over their heads to not tell mom in order to get them to do her chores. She is a very art oriented person who loves painting, sketching, and embroidery. Her favored subjects of such are usually flowers and plants, especially from her mother's garden. She could usually be found painting or sketching in the garden

Aiyla - Aiyla is a very active and prideful young girl who enjoys sports and competitions. She inherited her mother’s competitiveness and always does her best to win (through fair means). Many would say she inherited her grandfather’s pride. She does not tolerate being talked down to and will not hesitate throw hands with someone, no matter how big they were. She does not tolerate bullies and has no problem bashing some heads together. She is also very defensive of her older and younger siblings, often being compared to the wolf that is the symbol of their family. She loves the trips to the Royal Wood, often racing ahead on her horse against her brothers and climbing trees with her grandfather. She will sometimes lend a helping hand to her older brothers for their ideas, especially if it involves stair sledding.

Feray - Feray is a sweet and kind little thing. Due to her albinism, she was not allowed to stay out and play in the sun for as long as her siblings and was closely monitored by her family, including her siblings. As the youngest, she was the baby of the family for a long time and thus special privileges were given to her from her older siblings. She developed the same love for animals that her grandfather and mother held and adores flora and fauna and learning about them. She and her older sister, Teodora, can often be found together in the gardens, pointing out new flowers, blooms and arrival of new animal life. As such, Spring is her favorite season. She loves watching Teodora paint and often begs her older sister to give her the finished piece. She usually hangs them on the walls of her room and keeps extra special ones in her drawers. Like all of her family, she loves dancing and going to the Royal Wood to visit Great Grandma Alvina. She also loves music and is gifted with playing the harp, the lyre, and the ocarina. She often plays music for her family during the evening

Lux - Lux is the adopted son of Lucette and Koray and the youngest of the litter. He was found by Lucette in the forest during a birthday trip for one of her children. Lucette, remembering how alone she felt in the big dark forest, alone with no parents before Artorias found her; takes him under her wing. She then discovers that the child is definitely not human. His strange eyes, sharp canines, claws and especially his wolf legs pointed to him being something above a human. He was happily accepted by the family and, when Artorias got over his initial confusion of there suddenly being an extra child he didn’t know about, was embraced warmly by his new grandfather. Lux is selectively mute, preferring to speak only around and to family, never to strangers. Those who try to force him to speak to them get growled at or even a bite at their fingers. After settling into the family, his full personality blooms. He loves doing running around with Aiyla, visiting the forest, and going hunting and tracking animals. Sometimes he’ll even join in on Idmaer’s pranks and makes a good lookout with his heightened senses.

There’s something I’ve been wanting to add to Matthias’ bio after thinking over it for a few days, but considering how distressing the topic can be for some people, I’m putting it under a readmore. It’ll be added to his bio, and given I already put a big warning sign at the top of my blog regarding upsetting topics, I won’t have to do it again on his caard.

Anyyywho.

Nazaire has always despised having a special-needs child. The moment a private physician had confirmed that Matthias appeared delayed behind other children, the knight’s whole demeanor changed towards his son, becoming distant and stand offish. It caused few fights between him and his wife, but upon Lucette’s death being brought about due to the Seventh Umbral Calamity, Nazaire became verbally and even physically abusive towards Matthias.

Rather than letting the Durendaire family know that Matthias was alive and allowing them to take care of him, Nazaire instead kept him inside the house and a once blissful childhood became nightmarish. Matthias would be constantly berated by his father, beaten whenever having a meltdown, and even being locked in a closet with Nazaire banging on it when the child wouldn’t quiet down.

Nazaire would eventually resort to leaving his son home alone for long periods of time, hoping he’d starve to death and perhaps even freeze --- for he couldn’t simply take the child out through Ishgard and into Coerthas to accomplish what he desired. Thankfully, Matthias managed to survive in thanks to the part of Mateus that was voidsent, and at the time, had yet to become one with his reincarnate.

When Matthias survived to nineteen summers old, Nazaire took a different alternative and allowed his son outside for the first time, convinced the boy would get lost and die that way, and was thankful when there was no sign of Matthias at the end of the day.

It is because of these events that Matthias becomes distressed at the idea of enclosed spaces like closets or bathrooms, and why his meltdowns become so violent because the Elezen is expecting the worse. He becomes unexcited when his birthday and Starlight roll around, and seeks comfort in objects rather than people. Infact, upon his return to Ishgard, Matthias was deathly afraid of crossing paths with Nazaire and hid behind the protection of Haurchefant, and it was then the Durendaires were made aware of his status and the atrocities Nazaire committed while hiding his son from them for all those years.

Unfortunately, Nazaire never received the punishment he deserved, for he ended up being killed by a dragon that happened to be charging at Matthias during the Dragonsong War.

Cinderella Phenomenon Review

Okay! It is officially time for me to write a full review of this game! I am super excited because this game has really had a positive effect on me. Let’s start with the whole plot line. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. One of the best things about this game is that the MC isn’t a typical otome type. In fact she was based on other main characters rivals. I also love how the game was based on multiple fairy tales, I loved that it always kept me guessing things! Throughout the whole game I caught myself guessing parts of the plot and it later being proven or come out with a great twist! As for the good and bad endings, I think they are great. I love games and novels that can get you attached to charterers and their stories. This game even made me cry, which is a good thing ;) 

(Oh yeah also the art is the most beautiful thing I have ever laid my eyes on!!!)

Each route had amazing parts of the full story and great writing. I will review each in different sections. (In order of how you should play them)

Rod Benedikt Widdensov

Rod’s route is possibly the least plot informed. With his route you don’t learn much about Lucette’s past, other curses, or much going on outside of the palace. It still is story packed and an awesome play. Probably the worst thing about this route is the fact that they are step-siblings.. I don’t think that in itself is completely bad, but in the real world that would be pretty awkward.. The whole time playing this a part of me was hoping it would be revealed King Gennaro wasn’t Lucette’s real dad, of course that was just me wishing lolol. I think the ending (good route) was very bittersweet, as just before everyone had been so supporting. I have a feeling the Ophelia knew, but hasn’t been confirmed. I am very, VERY excited to see what they do with this route in Evermore. I think it will be interesting to see how others react and feel about this cute relationship :) Overall this route is very sweet and I really liked it! Rod is my fourth favorite!

Karma (Klaude Aidric Renaldi Mattheus Almonte)

I first thought that Karma would be a female love interest and I was very excited! However that wasn’t the case lolol. No worries though! I am far from disappointed with this route!! Karma’s route is full of secrets and sweet romance. This route holds a special place in my heart because of how Lucette decides to defend herself and protect others. The bad ending for this one broke my heart. In and out of the curse Karma has this aura that just pulls you in ;) I love his character development, I think it was VERY well written. This being the first route in the tavern you get to see more of whats fully going on. It doesn’t show everything, but you still get more than in Rod’s route. Overall this route for me is tied with Rumpel’s for 2nd place. :)

Rumpel (Chevalier Du Mont)

I am VERY passionate about Rumpel’s route. I love love love the character progress and how he finds himself as he figure out who he is. Even if he is a big flirt I think in the end he is a well rounded person who is just Ah amazing :) This one is also in the tavern, but know you get to know even more with him being a doctor. I was very happy with the small surprises you got with this route and I loved how Lucette’s character was. 

However I will be honest this route is probably the one that made me cry the most. Which is probably why it is so good in my eyes. I know some would be against the (good) ending, but I think it was worth it. I really do. Even if there was other ways i think what happened was very important and was part of the great story line, if anything else had happened I think I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much. I hope everyone is able to see that like I do so they can enjoy this story. :) This one is tied with Karma because I don’t wanna just leave Karma like that :(((((( (but in all honesty he is probably the 2nd place winner).

Fritz (Varg)

I realized Fritz was Varg in the end of Rumpel’s route. (Am I a bit slow? Maybe.) I was SO incredibly shocked. I had been wondering what the red riding hood curse would be, I was never expecting THAT. Before saying too much about this route, I am going to say, this route was supposed to be the “everything goes wrong” route. Which, in a way I guess that left me,, disappointed? I’m not sure. I still think this route is fun too play, I just think it could have been more considering you don’t get too many moments with Fritz. The thing that made me the most sad about this route was Varg. I felt so bad how in the end he wouldn’t be the one Lucette fell in love with, and he knew it. Of course I think there wasn’t much to do about that and his sacrifice was a good end. He will be missed though :( I keep reminding myself he is still apart of Fritz, as he was always a part of him. I am pretty excited to see the Evermore for them, because of how little time they got alone. 

(This is also the first one where you see her mom, and that really,,, really shocked me. It was so interesting).

I am sorry for putting him at 5th place :( He is still a lovely character and I very much appreciate his route, it shows another view of what could have happened. (I think I am just VERY attached to Delora).

And now... the last one

Waltz Cresswell

Waltz,,, This is the route that was supposed to be like the “main” one. This is why this route gives you most to all of the answers to the plot, the past, and the curses. This route left me feeling complete. I was a bit off at first because well he was a kid lolol. His curse was broken pretty early on compared to everyone else’s (as theirs is usually the last piece to your curse). Waltz’ route was so super sweet. I love the game they played with the children, and I loved how Lucette was finally able to reconnect with her dad. I was so incredibly happy when they reconnected. I always had a hunch her dad was the one who left the birthday gifts, and boy am I glad it was true. You can just tell in this route that they really wanted this to be the main one. I adore Waltz as a friend in the other routes too, as knowing everything I know now, he is supportive and nice. I hope in the other routes him and Lucette are able to get closer too, seeing as he played a big part in her life (even if she doesn’t know it :’) ). 

Waltz is my 1st place. I loved how the story was written and I liked the feeling of completion. 

End Thoughts

This game is beautiful, has an incredible plot, and is fun. I really hope you play this! Or if you already have (since it has been out for a few years...) let me know your thoughts!
