Kaeya and pierro shared design leitmotifs and possible in game connection

Spoilers until Caribert, no Fontaine exclusive content is discussed.

Before anything I must make clear that I’m comparing Kaeya ´s standard outfit and the Pierro design from a winter night´s lazzo, I won’t use direct images from leaks but i have compared Pierro ´s skin color to the other Harbingers using leaked character explorations and beta designs.

There is something that has bugged me since winter´s night lazzo; and that thing is the shared leitmotifs between pierro and Kaeya, While the fandom has discussed at length if Pierro could be Kaeya ´s father or other family member, I too want to analyze the similarities between the designs, how that could connect them in game, exploring popular ideas and even proposing some of my own on the way.

From top to bottom I will point out and explain in more depth all the similarities I found, using these two images as reference and to make everything more clear.

- Differently colored hair strand matching each other’s hair color. This is quite interesting because all other Khaeniahns we’ve met so far have blonde or a light hair color, making Kaeya the exception, But the fact that Pierro also has a blue strand in his other wise standard hair means that either Pierro ´s hair was originally blue and turned white due to aging, making them both exceptions to the known Khaenriahn genetic traits and possibly connecting them as family. That white hair is a result of abyssal corruption, which would make sense as Pierro has had most likely more abyssal exposure than Kaeya, which would explain Kaeya ´s strands. Or we could reverse this and propose blue or darkened hair is a result of abyss influence, while this might sound outlandish at first, abyssal influence in game has been mostly shown by darkened colors like blue or purple, the only issue would be why Kaeya has had more abyssal exposure than Pierro. This could also be just a way to connect them visually.

- Half of their face covered, seems to be an homage to king irmin the masked king. The three Khaenriahn characters that share this trait have some connection to royalty (Royal knight, Royal advisor, Descendant to The regents that usurped King irmins ´s throne)

-Fluffy scarf? (I don’t know what to call it) in contrasting colors. I must note Kaeya ´s design is prominently asymmetrical, both as a way to create interest and to contrast his conflicted and divided thoughts. (In fact one side seems to represent the abyss with the strand, eyepatch, and the fluffy covering similar to an abyss mage, and the other his loyalty to Mondstand, with the Favonius matching cape and what seems to be a lovelock, a hairstyle used to show their loyalty to someone or something)

-Diamond shaped space in their outfit near their chest, possibly just a way to invoke the diamond shape in their designs , the shared motif of Khaenriah.

-Similar Lapels in their coat with the same shape that reach their torso, a central piece on both of their designs. Can’t really llly tell if Pierro ´s is just one lapel or two lapels and the upper one is hidden in the fluff (Like Kaeya ´s lapels on his left side)

-Star in the middle of their torso

- Shared color scheme but reversed in key places

-Comparatively darker skin to other Characters, Clear in Kaeya ´s case, harder to see in Pierro. Comparing Pierro ´s skintone to other harbingers its clear he’s at the very least visibly darker, even in some leaked design exploration where he sports a coat more similar to Dainsleif´s and a lighter skintone that first thought. The date of the designs are unknown and neither is if they are final but even then the skintone is darker (second image, pierro is the first circle, dottore the second and Columbina de third ) I also must note that while Kaeya is darker skinned, its also known he is partially tanned (alluded trio in a Traveler character story where they wonder if kaeya has a tanning mark behind his eyepatch.

What does all of this mean?, I’m going to note some of the most popular theories and some wild thought as an extra.

-Possibility 1, its all just a coincidence: While some similarities can be explained with shared Khaenriah leitmotifs and pure chance, the fact that a not insignificant part of the fandom thought they were related just by seeing their designs must mean a significant amount of the design must reflect the other.

Possibility 2, Kaeya and Pierro are related most likely his strangled father or an uncle. Would explain the skin and hair color as well as while intentional similarities in their designs. The kaeya ´s father idea was the most common theory, but with pierro being a royal advisor rather than a royal as well as the past voice of kaeya ´s father in the 3.1 event seeming different to Pierro's, it has lost popularity.

It is still possible they are related and Pierro was just far from being the throne heir, also giving him a possible vendetta against the Alberichs and in the case of an uncle might serve as a future Hamlet reference, as well as being a popular trope in general .

-Possibility 3, the motifs are meant to show Kaeya.'s connection to the fatui rather than to Pierro himself. Some of the motifs are shared both in Pierro´s design, the harbinger coats and Kaeya's design. Often also mixed with the second possibility. Could also be a foreshadowing to a possible betrayal by Kaeya. Personally I don’t really see this possibility if not mixed with second one because the most definite proof is specific to Pierro. A counter argument is the shared motifs between Kaeya and Childe. Like Kaeya. ´s never ending performance constellation having the same name as Childe. ´s boss theme, especifically before using foul legacy, also the shared eye motif between kaeya and the fatui.

-Possibility 4, Kaeya is somehow a Clone of Pierro. (Either biologically or just his creation imitating someone else. I’ve seen this theory proposed but I haven’t thought much about. It honestly, this is usually mixed with the father theory.

Extra!: Possibility 5 (Originally thought by a friend of mine but i think its pretty interesting and tried to fill in the gaps), also the least likely but still fun to explore. Kaeya and Pierro are the same person. In Genshin the idea of rewriting the past has is present, mostly seen with Wanderer, his quest also shows changing the past via the Irminsul will end up in essentially the same result. (Wanderer changed the past erasing himself, but the ones that had to die still died), Also seen with Nahida and Rukka. With the cyclical nature of time in Genshin and the journey of the twins, It is possible our twin had a similar journey as us just for everything to be reseted (The cutscene of the abyss sibling shows Mondstadt being destroyed). kaeya could have tried to change things in Khaenriah via the Irminsul but eventually failed ending up in the destruction of Khaenriah. This would explain why Pierro knows about fate´s plans and why he had advice to try and avoid the destruction.This would explain the shared motifs in the fatui and Kaeya´s uniform, as well as physical similarities between the two. Personally I don’t think they share a vibe, and the explanation is quite convoluted and makes several assumptions, It’s still a fun idea, and i quite like it though. I believe we still lack key information to make a clear and definite decision, but the similarities are still. There and we can still try to approximate ourselves to the truth.

SO...how about that new Murder Drones episode?

I think this might be my favorite episode so far, and not just because they gave me half a cookie instead of crumbs XD Spoiler-riddled thoughts under the cut

As usual, the quality of this episode was amazing. I really like Kevin Temmer's bouncy animation style, it's very expressive and fun to watch. Elsie Lovelock really brought the heat as Uzi, you could genuinely feel the visceral emotions as her condition gradually worsened over the course of the episode. This episode is not for those with emetophobia.

As much as I like Liam and GLITCH's style of humor, I kinda also liked that his episode had a much more serious tone and a more balanced number of jokes.

Looks like the rabbit hole goes deeper than just a weird code that turns drones into monsters that require cannibalism to keep on a leash. That quick frame of what looked like a black hole over the mansion definitely raises some question, but for all we know, it could also be N's memory blocking out something even worse (I think I saw some text on the dark spot that said "null" but I could just be misreading.

I honestly like that V's still a little mean, but there's some depth to her actions. She's definitely tangled with the AbSolver before, maybe something occurred during her past as a Worker that made her more hardened in comparison to what we saw in Episode 2. Her taking the blame for the deaths of the students was also kind of sweet since I think she kinda knows that Uzi's actions aren't really of her own volition, and what N said about how everyone's scared of what's happening maybe got to her more than she lets show.

RIP Braiden you were a real one. Your ever-flaming head will burn on in our hearts. 😔✊

Reality TV and LGBTQ Identities :

Reality television is a varied and fruitful cultural form that affords numerous subject positions from which to act out deviations from heterosexual and cisgender standards. The programme queer identity constructs made comprehensible in reality . Evaluations of their social, ethical, and monetary value, in addition to their validity and acceptability, permeate ming (Kavka, 2018). Similarly, research on reality television has shifted its focus from the documentary to the dramatic, while expanding its scope to consider audiences, texts, and production contexts in relation to governmentality and the self; nationalism and globalism; gender and sexuality; class and race; and most recently, performance and affect (Kavka, 2018). In the first and second decades of the twenty- first century, reality television played an extensive role in the production, circulation, negotiation, and contestation of the meanings of gay identities within the pop- cultural arena. The vast majority of reality formats circulate in a global media marketplace where broadcasters in different countries or across a group of countries acquire the rights to make their own “version” of a reality TV show based on an existing model. Reality television has infiltrated the global television scene in its generic form. Ironically, the manner in which such global forms play out on a national level is also intimately determined by the national (or multinational) contexts in which the programmes are made and consumed, and this is especially significant with regard to queer representation. Nick Couldry (2004) argues in relation to Big Brother (Australian television series) that reality television has repeatedly invoked an explicit divide between the'media’ world it represents and the'real’ world ‘outside’ (Lovelock, 2019, p.27).Reality television has been constructed as a validating, authenticating, or even utopian space for queer self-expression, precisely because it is distinct from the'real’ world. Unfortunately, this seeming approval has not been equally available to all LGBT varieties ( Lovelock, 2019, pp.27)

The Rise of Reality TV in the Era of Social Media :

Through highlighting their liveness, a number of reality television programmes

depict themselves as a communal event that all viewers may observe. Several generations can engage in person and via technology. The liveness of Twitter is emphasised in this manner through hashtags displayed on-screen during the broadcast, and occasionally verbally as well. The preoccupation extends to broadcasters, production firms, presenters, and broadcasters who manage official social media pages.During the event, participants (including past participants) routinely engage in live Q&A sessions and promote live tweets shortly after transmission.In addition, the proliferation of reality television shows on Twitter and other social networking sites stimulates their viewing and involvement.

Real-time Internet viewing is the most effective method for avoiding spoilers (Deller, 2019). The genre of reality television lends itself beautifully possessing a humorous disposition. Several performances incorporate humour into their approach and style, and audiences have taken advantage of this element for decades in both offline and online discussions. In social media, reality show-related conversation is abundant. In exchange for likes and shares, audiences engage in puns, quips, animated gifs, memes, and sarcastic commentary (Deller, 2019). Reality television includes fame and power-related subjects, such as why certain people appear to be so powerful. Hence, Reality TV conversation influences internet audiences that are more affluent than others. Arguably the most popular reality show memes and GIFs are those that take on a life of their own, with significant comments, scenes, and emotions being re-circulated and acquiring new meanings far beyond their original source (Shifman, 2013). Example of internet memes include the image of Gordon Ramsay yelling at a Hell’s Kitchen contestant that became the “This Dinner is so Unfinished” joke (Blackmon, 2017). Some memes have a far longer afterlife than the original events (Deller, 2019).

Coming Out On Top/Teen Wolf

I recently got into the computer game Coming Out On Top, which delves into the life of Mark Matthews as he comes out to his friends and enters the dating world of an openly gay man. As I was (repeatedly) playing the game, I couldn’t help but make similarities to Teen Wolf. Both canonically and in the world of fan-fiction, there are characters that closely resemble each other.

I rated each pairing in terms of canonical relation to Teen Wolf and possible relation to fan-fiction since Teen Wolf, despite it’s goal to show as much male skin as possible, certainly wouldn’t show one guy fucking another in a toilet stall. However, when considering a character’s fan-fiction rating, I tried to maintain a stndard that wouldn’t be too out of character for the parties involved. But, uh, we all know how subjective fan-fiction can be. 

So, with that said, let’s start with the main character and the six love interests:  

Main Character: Stiles Stilinski as Mark Matthews Canon Rating: 3/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 4/5 stars

To me, Stiles has to be the main character. Otherwise, you just couldn’t make these comparisons work. Sure, you could make a case for Scott as Mark since they are both the protagonists, but deep down in your fan-fiction reading heart, you know that only Stiles is capable of the shenanigans that Mark gets into. Also, Mark has a tendency for word vomit which definitely reminds me of Stiles

Potential Love Interest: Scott McCall as Ian Manachevitz Canon Rating: 3.5/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 4/5 stars

Without a doubt, Scott is a lovable goofball. Like Mark and Ian, Stiles and Scott are best friends, even when Stiles has to put up with Scott’s oblivious nature (read: Scott going on and on about Allison or Ian’s crazy ideas). To that extent, we can even paint Allison or Kira (take your pick but I’m going with Allison) as on and off again ex-girlfriend Zoe. Conceivably, it wouldn’t be outside the realm of fan-fiction for Scott to be into dildos and a bit of bondage and harboring feelings for our lovable main character. 

Potential Love Interest: Peter Hale as Alex Davies Canon Rating: 3/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Peter certainly fits the bill canonically. He’s about the same age as Alex and I’m sure a fan-fiction author would have no qualms about Peter pulling his favorite student (*coughs Stiles*) to the front of the class to finger him in the name of education. I’m less inclined to imagine Peter as willing to take a step back from fucking Stiles in his office, but that may be the fan-fiction reader in me talking. 

Potential Love Interest: Derek Hale as Brad Melnick Canon Rating: 3.5/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 4/5 stars

It certainly is canon for Derek to be portrayed as a typical jock with hidden layers. It’s also common in fan-fiction for Derek to be portrayed as a jock. While Derek is older than Stiles in canon Teen Wolf, many fan-fiction writers like to portray Stiles and Derek as the same age. In this case though, Derek would be a couple of years younger than Stiles as Brad is likely a freshman while Mark is a senior. 

Brad and Mark, much like Derek and Stiles, do not immediately get along in their respective canons. But fan-fiction certainly has Stiles admiring Brad’s body much like Mark does with Brad. Additionally, thanks to fan-fiction, we could easily see Laura Hale as Beau Melnick, Brad’s protective older sibling. Brad is coasting along thanks to his athletic ability and wouldn’t it be just like Laura to make sure Derek gets back on track. 

Alternate Character Potential Love Interest: Derek Hale as Alex Davies Canon Rating: 3.5/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 4/5 stars

Thanks to fan-fiction, it isn’t too out of the realm of probability to see Derek as Professor Davies. Why? Well, imagine if the fire had never happened (which is a common trope in fan-fiction generally called Alive Hale Family or No Hale Fire). Even if we don’t see the other Hales, we know from canon that Derek is naturally flirty and would likely hit on Stiles if he were to see him in a bar. And, it also stands to his character (maybe more so than Peter) to want to take a step back from dating a student despite his obvious desire. (I mean, Derek’s internal struggles are practically legendary). Regardless, Derek would certainly make a great Alex. 

Potential Love Interest: Danny Mahealani as Jed Zhou Canon Rating: 1/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 1/5 stars

I won’t lie, this one’s a bit of a stretch. Aside from their stunning bodies, this stems from my farfetched desire to see Danny open the door completely naked and asking me to be his Cumslut97. Not much else beyond that. 

Potential Love Interest: Vernon Boyd as Philbert Healy Canon Rating: 4/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 3.5/5 stars

Phil and Boyd probably have the most in common of all their characters. To start off with, they both hate their given name, Boyd/Phil is not initially impressed with Stiles/Mark, they have a close relationship with a crazy female character, and they are constantly babysitting a younger girl (based on Boyd’s backstory of his little sister). Because of their relationship in Teen Wolf, I’m also likely to cast Erica as Phil’s cousin Penny. In fact, the only difference between Boyd and Phil is that we don’t really get to see Boyd develop a closer relationship with Stiles. 

I’ll admit, my fan-fiction rating was based on speculation as I haven’t really read any Boyd/Stiles pairings. But thanks to COOT and that scene with Phil fucking Mark, who is hidden under the covers when Ian walks in, I can now definitely imagine it. 

Potential Love Interest: Chris Argent as Amos Canon Rating: 1/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 1/5 stars

Like Jed and Danny, this is another stretch for me. Aside from Chris being older than Stiles and having a previous relationship mentioned (i.e. Victoria as a Victor), Chris and Amos don’t really have much in common.

Potential Date: Jordan Parrish as Cesar Canon Rating: 1/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 2/5 stars

Originally, I considered making the Sheriff Cesar and switching Mark to another TW character. But the more I thought about it, the less I could see the Sheriff abusing the trust of the citizens of Beacon Hills. (Well, I could but I won’t get into that.) While it’s still pretty out of character for Jordan to display such abuse of power, it’s still pretty hot to imagine. 

Potential Date: Issac Lahey as Terrence/Terry Lovelock Canon Rating: 2/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 2/5 stars

Aside from the fact that they are both blonde, and have similar body proportions, I mostly base this on the fact that they are blonde and have similar body proportions. Besides, don’t tell me you wouldn’t love to see Issac bend over and suck his own cock. No? Just me? I’m sure I read that in fan-fiction somewhere. *blushes*

Potential Date: Liam and Mason as Pete and Oz Canon Rating: 1/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 2/5 stars

I’ll admit, I stopped watching Teen Wolf by the time these characters were introduced. I mostly know them through Tumblr postings, but they seem as inseparable as these two. Also, I wouldn’t put it past either of them to want to be cuckolded and watch their partner be fucked by another man (in fan-fiction, obviously). 

Potential Date: Theo Raeken as Frank Canon Rating: 2/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 2/5 stars

As I mentioned above, I didn’t really watch Theo’s storyline. However, a lot of people ship him with Stiles for some reason. But I know Theo is a sketchy character and Frank’s whole storyline is about lying to make himself appear more impressive. Also, with how hot he is, imagining Theo as a stripper is hot.

Potential Date: Ethan and Aiden as Jesse and Hugh Canon Rating: 2/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 2/5 stars

Come on! Come ON! They’re twins. Need I say more?!

Potential Date: Roscoe the Jeep as Slurpy the Fish Canon Rating: 3/5 stars Fan-fiction Rating: 3/5 stars

Roscoe and Slurpy both serve as a beacon of hope and form of support for their respective owners. While I don’t think we’d ever be able to get Roscoe fully inside Stiles’ anus, I did see this one video where a guy rode the gear shift like....you know what? Never mind. 

All that aside, I’m still pretty much enjoying Coming Out On Top. I might post pictures of the characters that most resemble each other between COOT and Teen Wolf in the future.
