I'm not really a photoset kind of person, but I thought I would give it a go.
The eight outer photos come from Pixabay or MorgueFile if you look up Yorkshire, and the centre photo I took myself.

The Anatomy of the Honey Bee
* * * *
“Biology The film turns out to be about bees. It is a film about a bee center. How crap is this going to be?
An hour later That was the best thing I have seen for ages. We made Miss Wilson rewind the bit where the two queens were having a bitch fight.” ― Louise Rennison, Love Is a Many Trousered Thing

Mon nez, mon chat, l’amour et moi, Louise Rennison (Le Journal intime de Georgia Nicolson T1)
Tumblr media

did anyone else read these. these were like. the lowest brow books i read as a young adult and i devoured them. the rich (in experience, not money lol) life of a very dumb but very ordinary early 2000s girl lol. as someone who was not feminine and had a hot/cold relationship with the idea, getting to see the inner world of a """"prep"""" genuinely helped little tween me be like "ohhhhh shes stupid like me. we are all so stupid together"

Peppermint Mocha and Charlotte Brontë
Tumblr media
646 words, oneshot, read below cut
It was a cold, foggy day as I made my way to the café on high street, cold enough that I'd pulled my legwarmers out of my suitcase where I'd pre-packed them for school next week. I'd gotten the matching bolero too, though it was more like a pair of arm warmers that were attached across your back, and with my thumbs through the thumb-holes its sleeves peeked out from underneath my jumper. I think it made me look a little more put-together than just having the legwarmers on their own.
The café was doing a special on their festive drinks, probably to try and get rid of leftover stock, so I got myself a peppermint mocha. I settled in to the corner furthest from the door with my drink and my croissant, and cracked open my copy of The Life of Charlotte Brontë. It wasn't the most exciting read, but it was recommended for the course, so I gave it my best shot.
…If this woman's description of the Brontë sisters' hometown is accurate, no wonder they were like that. Maybe Heckmondwhite was cold, and not as cosmopolitan as advertised, but at least it had colour. When it wasn’t foggy, anyway.
The bell above the door chimed and I looked up on instinct as the local goth couple walked in. Aoife, the redhead, runs her father's music store when she wasn't off at college, and I think her girlfriend Roisin works at the animal shelter a town over. I didn't want to be caught staring, so I went back to reading about how sad and grey the landscape surrounding Haworth was.
I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on Aoife and Roisin, it just sort of accidentally happened when I heard them say Liverpool and College in the same sentence. There can’t be that many colleges in Liverpool, can there? Especially if I heard correctly and they’re doing music, you wouldn’t have a performing arts college and then a separate music college in the same city, I think. Not unless it was a really big city. What if they know Alex? Would it be weird if I went up and asked them what college is like as an adult? If I befriend them and he knows them, I can be his cool college friends’ friend from back home instead of just his little sister’s mate.
Okay, Tallulah, it’s time to display some Northern Grit and ask them, very casually, about life as a higher-ed arts student.
“Um, hi, I couldn’t help but hear that you two are doing a music course in Liverpool?” I said, trying not to sound as nervous as I felt. “Yeah, why? Are you thinking of signing up once you’ve done your A-levels?” replied Roisin. “Maybe, but I want to know a little more about what it’s like first,” I said, “I’ve been going to a performing arts school in Yorkshire and we do some classes on music there,” “We can’t speak for the more theatrical courses, but the music course has been really engaging and I’ve learned a lot about how music is produced, not just performed,” said Roisin, “Aoife grew up around music though, so she had a bit of a head start,” “Not as much as you’d think, I can play almost anything you hand me but figuring out the best way to record is a whole different beast,” said Aoife, before launching in to a detailed explanation of how mixing desks worked. I nodded along like I understood, even though the closest I’d gotten to learning about how music was recorded was a quick session with Bob that got derailed by some disaster or other. Maybe I’ll try to learn more next term. I asked Aoife to write down some things for me to look up before I went back to my own table and packed up to leave.
A/N:
I wrote all 600+ words of this last night, which is quite the change of pace from my usual three-sentences-if-I'm-lucky writing habits, so I thought I would post it before I had too many second thoughts. It was an exercise in prompted writing, you can find the journalling game I played for inspiration here - note that you'll need a deck of cards to pull for the prompts, or you can use this generator I just put together for it. I might add more to this at a later date and post it to AO3, but I can't guarantee that so I'm posting what I have now.

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...
Hii!!! You're my second ask ever so dw
Let me see... Can't lie I sort of blanked out 😭 but here's what I managed to scrape up from the pits of my mind
In no particular order:
Noelle, from Sidney Sheldon's Memories of Midnight
She's a badass, idk idk 15 year old me was obsessed with her and her dark feminine (is that what it is?) So she'll always have a special place in my heart. I mean she knew what she wanted and went for it. I admire that, I need that! I desperately wanted to be her. Were her ways of attaining what she wanted a bit off the book? Yes, were her motivations a bit problematic? Sure but hey nobodies perfect
Tallulah Casey, from Louise Rennison's Misadventures of Tallulah Casey
She's so funny, awkward and adorable I love her. The first time I read this book I was probably 14 (the same age as her) so I could relate to her in a way. Idk I guess she just grew on me and I can't let her go. Plus we're both tall and skinny (I'm not that tall but 14 yr old me thought otherwise). Why is she my favorite... I do not know really, maybe because we had like 2 similarities and I got attached to her? Because I saw myself in her? I honestly don't know.
Geto Suguru, Jujutsu Kaisen
It's a bit complicated trying to explain this one, obvs his looks reeled me in. But he sort of mirrored a tough phase I went through (It wasn't that tough I'm just dramatic). I'm still trying to understand his character a bit better but here's the gist of what secured him a place in my heart (pls don't eat me up if I'm perhaps misinterpreting some stuff pls 😭) : So we both thought we were the best/strongest at something. Then we got the biggest humbling of our lives. Then we went through an isolation/ depressive phase. And then we got angry/resentful and found someone to pin the blame on. This is where he and I differ bc he pinned the blame on a whole demographic and took the aggressive route (kill them all), and I pinned the blame on myself and took the passive route (self hate, low self esteem and worth etc). Basically a one sided trauma bond?
Tanethu Mdluli, The Amaryllis (it's a book, by an African author,I forgot the name)
She's everything I wanted to be (since I was 13/14). She's the perfect student, daughter, big sister, friend. Her parents are proud of her. She's strong, independent, responsible, smart, kind, aware of what she wants and how she wants it. Is she a bit too rigid ad judgemental yes but idk she's her for me yk. I've loved her since I was young and I desperately wanted to model myself after her (epic fail btw she'd be disappointed)
I'll stop here bc it's a bit long. If you want more I can always add more :)

3 movies, 3 books and 3 songs that changed my life (or that i love)
Tumblr media
@slutforstabbings keeps giving me the impossible task of self-reflection lol. i tried to do a similar eras system (child, teen, young adult), but it's not perfect. watch me defend my choices below the cut ✌
i will pass the torch, without any pressure, to my beloved @solivagant-muse 💗 (and anyone else who feels like doing it, of course !!)
films
scooby doo and the witches ghost (1999): one of the movies i had on vhs as a kid. the first appearance of the hex girls? of course it changed the trajectory of my life. every single day i think about how cute it was that luna's dad ( a dentist) made fang implants for the hex girls to wear.
natural born killers (1994): i was an edgy teenager. i love the cinematography and the editing and how meta it is and the fucked up romance. and it was one of the films that made me want to study film, so i guess i should send my university bill to oliver stone?
halloween ends (2022): is anyone surprised? anyone at all? i've had other films i've loved in adulthood (looking at you, house of wax), but i've never become to instantly obsessed as i did with ends. i've never developed so many hcs and aus and possibilities for one thing. do i really have to defend this one? just look at my blog lol.
books
withering tights (the misadventures of tallulah casey) by louise rennison: there were so many books i loved as a kid, but this is one i come back to even now. it's about friendship, finding your passions, having a silly teenage romance. i'm glad my tweenie self read this book.
the secret history by donna tartt: another teenage cliché. i was actually recommended this book by my own classics teacher in college. i've re-read this book at least 5 times i think? i love it, it's passionate and dark and funny. you fall exactly into the trap that richard does in romanticising these dysfunctional people. no one can change my mind.
the wasp factory by iain banks: do you wanna read something fucked up? then read the wasp factory. i think about this book a lot, just because some of the images were just so weird and disturbing and visceral. it's blunt and brash and has no frills at all. it'll make you feel weird and i heavily advise reading some content warnings beforehand, but it is an experience.
songs:
the tide is high by blondie: the first song i ever remember liking. when i was a kid my dad would drive me to school and ask what i wanted to listen to on the radio and i would ask for this song (and surprisingly it actually was on the radio a lot in the early 00s?).
maya the psychic by gerard way: this song reminds me of a bright grey day in march with a cold breeze and a new found will to live.
respite on the spitalfields by ghost: my favourite song from the first ghost album i ever listen to (recommended by a friend). respite (the final track) literally makes me feel like my heart is going to explode, and the way the last riff merges back into imperium (the first track)? obsessed. i fell asleep to this album so many times at university, so respite was really the soundtrack to my slumber.

Cain licked a hailstone right off Tallulah Casey's face for no apparent reason other then cuz he's bad and odd, Chris had a 'supervillain glare' to protect Em Watts at a party, Dean completely manipulated Molly Montgomery to get famous, Hayden and (a different) Chris were both actual enemies with their respective heroines at the start, and Sebastian straight-up used Penn O'Connell for a study,...
Just looking at the love interests in the books I used to read when I was 10-13 and realising they totally set me up for the men I like now 😅XD
The books, for anyone interested:
Cain and Tallulah are from Louise Rennison's hilarious Wuthering Tights Trilogy. These are so so funny, and I read the second one like a thousand times XDD Louise Rennison also did Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging and that is also amazing XDD You cant stop at just a few pages, you canttt XD
Chris and Em are from Meg Cabot's brilliant Airhead trilogy. AHH this one was my PERSONALITY for like a whole year. I cant even explain what this series was for me!
Dean and Molly are from Sarra Manning's Guitar Girl. ... I had (have) a huge crush on their evil manager Paul 😅 Also it has a great ending ^^ 'Instead we signed to a tiny, teeny label who can just about afford to take us out for coffee, and we write songs about what we watched on telly the other night. Oh, and dark-haired boys who steal your heart away' still gets to me.
Hayden is from Tara Eglington's How To Keep a Boy from Kissing You Duo. Oh, young me thought she was gonna be sooo popular with the boys XDD And well, Young Hannah- I must say you're going to be disappointed. Not because boys don't like you, but because you don't want them 😅😅😅
Chris is from Rachael Wing's Star Crossed. This was pretty much my first x reader fanfic XD You get to be Juliet to Chris' Romeo. I was a lil more interested in the dads though... is that a surprise? no.
And Sebastian and Penn are from Nansi Kunze's EXCELLENT Mishaps. This one??? THIS ONE??? Even more indescribable then Airhead. I just, ughhhhhhhh. I think I got a whole lotta my need to write from this book.

I get the odd comment about my sense of humour and the main reason I am the way that I am is I grew up reading the Angus Thongs and full frontal snogging books ( not the film, the books). My inner self talk is basically like Georgias is in that book series and I think that’s often how I write my characters.
Anyway, random story once I was walking in the park at age 15 I think and me and my friend were wearing our cowboy hats because we are loons and some random woman came up and complimented us on our hats. I remember her wearing all black but a pair of bright pink leg warmers and thinking she was just some rando and she mentioned she wrote stories for teenagers our age and I was like erm okay sure Jan and then she said that she wrote the Angus thongs series and it was in fact the late, fabulous Louise Rennison in the flesh. She proceeded to tell us about how she wasn’t the biggest fan of the film with how they had portrayed Dave the Laugh and how she had the book in her mind as being set in Leeds where I am from and where we were in the park ect and some other fun things and I got her autograph.
Anyway idk why I felt like sharing that but I did. Now excuse me while I try and write something for the next chapter.
