Also how will they even get together? I always thought Daniel hates Armand. How is he even going to trust him after what he did to him in San Francisco 1973? Is he even gay? Will they be a healthy/cute couple or kinda toxic and chaotic as well? I have So many questions cuz tbh if I hadn’t learned this from the book readers, I would’ve never expected them to get together or even be into each other. Only after I found out and rewatched closely I could see some weird looks or stares.

And, I mean, what do you mean "how will they react"? It won't matter much to them, vice-versa, because believe me, the show made what Armand did to Louis way worse than the book, and I don't see Louis (or Lestat for that matter) be on speaking terms with Armand in the foreseeable future ...

And as per how they will get together - there are a LOT of hints at something having happened in the past already, a lot of little things ... that Daniel has forgotten. We have not seen those (yet), nor heard about these yet. It's deliberate that you, as a show only viewer, would be confused right now :)

Book canonically Armand hunts Daniel... and then eventually falls for him. Maybe something like that has happened in the past - maybe it will happen still.

In any case, DM, the "Devil's Minion" (aka Daniel) is one of the main pairings in the book. Rolin said at SDCC 2022 that fans should not worry :) They're just doing their own version, as with the story itself, but it will happen - and we will see how and understand then :)))

i finally read “the lilac tunnel: my journey with samantha” (shoutout to @cannon-memely for letting me know that i should actually take the time to check it out!) and i have Thoughts. full reactions from reading it under the cut

to preface this (since there is going to be a tiny bit of snark and general silliness), i did overall have a good time reading this book! i have some qualms with the storylines they chose to put in there, but i do think that the journey books are one of the smarter moves they made during the beforever era. i remember really loving the “you choose” history books as a kid, and i think the interactive component is appealing and generally a great way to keep children engaged. i could absolutely ramble on more about historical fiction for children, but let’s just jump into my (semi-chaotic) thoughts about “the lilac tunnel.”

first of all, FASCINATING that samantha apparently has a swing at grandmary’s house, since i’m pretty sure that it’s never mentioned in the original books. do we think it was lydia and gard’s, or do we think gard (or even hawkins) put it up for sam?

samantha’s got ORPHAN SYNDROME and she’s got it bad

okay. this is probably my main gripe with this book, but having this book set pre-nellie (and thereby having on option to essentially be nellie but under grandmary’s employment???) is bizarre af

on the flip side, the fact that nellie isn’t around really highlights how lonely samantha is, and i think we all know that I’m SOOOO normal when it comes to themes of grief and loneliness in samantha’s stories

WHY TF DOES EDDIE HAVE SUCH A LARGE ROLE IN THIS STORY. DEAR GOD PUT HIM BACK WHERE HE CAME FROM

You've already seen this many times on my page, because I really enjoyed this book and it was a window to many things I didn't know I'd enjoy in a story. So many beautiful description, beautifully emotional and sexy sex, rarely seen complex character dynamics and so much mouth watering food.

Éjféli Iskolák (Midnight Schools) by Attila Veres. lovecraftian horror set in Budapest

It's a horror short story collection by a hungarian author who I got recommended by a collegue. Attila Veres has a talent to capture that melancholic, sometimes surrelistic feeling living in Budapest which makes his work so authentic. But also very Big Ew for all the horroristic shit he created (in the best way.) My favourite one was the 'Porn After Midnight'.

Yumi and The Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanders. M/F romance focus, sci-fi/fantasy, anime-esque

You all know I'm a Sanderson trash. And the fact I, the slowest reader on the earth, read this book in two days, proved that very much lol. It felt like watching an anime, I swear to god. There's magic, time travel kinda thing, pretty innocent humour, loads of painting in it.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickenes. christmas nostalgia, historical fiction?

We all know this, but I'm very behind on classics book-wise so I began to catch up last year. Espceially because I love the animated movie so much. It was a lovely and educative read.

Y/N by Esther Yi. litfic, kpop fandom and industry satire basically, comteporary

It was one of my favourites from last year tbh, because I couldn't put down the damn e-reader. A very strange little read, 100% unhinged, but made me realise I might enjoy litfic, so I'll read more this year. Also, the story is not "summarizable" but the fact that this is the first two review on GoodReads tells a lot I think: reading this feels like that one night when i accidentally smoked weed for the first time I sort of feel like I just hallucinated this entire thing Yeah.

Even Though I Knew The End by C. L. Polk. F/F romance, fantasy, novella

Lesbian magical detective. Done, sold. I wanted to read this a while now, and it did not disappoint. It gave exactly what it promised. Fast paced little adventure with some humour and a lovely couple. Not a life-chaning read but as I mentioned, it gave what it promised. I enjoyed it anyway.

Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice. M/M romance kinda, supernatural, philosophical

Finally started to read the books my all time favourite movies are made of. Loved every bits of this, though sometimes it got way too wordy or I don't even know what. Overall though, it got me. Full of contemplation about human nature, God (though I could do a bit less without that) and death, plus the iconic vampire husbands and their arguments. It's just a real long broody monologue of Louis tbh. I'm fine with that it seems, though.

Legend & Lattes by Travis Baldree. F/F romance (not focus), cosy fantasy

Read pretty fast too. It's very much what it promises also. Cosy, and relaxing, and endearing. Love the concept of how a stoic warrior woman can settle finally and do something other than fighting. It was cute.

Tress of The Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. M/F romance (not that important i think), cosy fantasy, Princess Bride-vibes

Yes, I got all the secret project, because of course I would. This one was also something like Legends & Lattes imo. In Sanderson style tho. I'm also loving when the narrator is a third person telling the story. Those are always fun. Oh and the story had many cuteness, humour and Our Flag Means Death kinda pirates.

That would be so cute tbh. We have Treins daughters, Crewel and Miss Yuu, Crowely with Sialia and Dreary, and the Vargas triplets. Then there's Sam with his baby boy. 🥺

Sam is still young, so any kid he has I would imagine is under the age of 5 at most. I'm just imagining a little baby, about two years old, waddling around the shop.

I'm bad at names, but I keep wanting to call him Louis, so lets go with that. Little Baby Louis.

Louis's is mom is Sams fiancé, they're saving up to have a nice wedding back home, and in the mean time, she's either working in the shop with Sam doing stuff in the back, or maybe she works from home so she's able to come with Sam to Sages Isle. Regardless, they're there behind the scene and little Louis is a sweet and curious little baby that toddles around the shop. Sams friends on the other side keep an eye on him. He gets very excited to see Grim, because fluffy kitty. Which is also why he loves Lucius. Trein is sweet grandpa and is always happy to see him. I imagine he thinks Sebek is a real crocodile. Just points points at him and in baby talk goes "cwocodada!" Sebek is so confused.

The way I made sure to copy & paste that title just so I could make sure I got it right before posting. lmao That said, I love it. It lets you know right away what kinda movie you're getting into. It's quirky and cute with its dark humor and a charming cast. It's not a story that's necessarily reinventing the wheel exactly. I'm sure people are gonna make the comparison to at least Let the Right One In/Let Me In because there is a similar quiet yet steady chemistry between the leads. People call this a romance and I can see where it can be called that since they form a strong connection with each other but they never actually take the step to visibly show it's beyond friendship. I personally was fine with either direction tbh (platonic or romantic) so it's cool. Regardless, I enjoyed them as a pair and the story for what it was. Nothing actually scary happened to call this a proper horror but well, it's labeled as a comedy horror so it counts for the challenge, and I had been curious about it. It was a pleasant enough watch, nothing too special but just what I needed from it. <3 And now time to watch the Speak No Evil remake. lol

Not a fanfic post but lets just talk about the hounds of Baskerville arc because there is just SO MUCH I have to say

Warnings: spoilers,mentions of gore, violence & various forms of child abuse

Alright first off, we all pretty much know it wasn’t animated (kinda for a good reason. It was really visceral and although I must say it was well made, I doubt they would’ve been allowed to animate something like that.) but there are some things this chapter had which I think were very crucial in terms of character development for almost every one of the member of the Moriarty gang.

I think the main focus for the chapter is brotherhood (or just sibling love in general) along with the past and how that affects our current lives.

First thing I wanna point out is how some of the kidnapped children are sort of parallels to William and Louis. This boy in particular looked a lot like william, not only in his hairstyle but also his actions. In the anime, we see that William stabs himself with a fork instead of letting Louis get hurt and in the manga there are alot of instances where William sacrifices physically for Louis. This unnamed child also gouges his eye out with a spoon in an effort to protect his sister which is sad because they both end up dying anyways at the hands of Baskerville

Also the fact that they both seemed to have grown up in slums and stolen while sticking by each other to stay alive shows that they were probably intentionally written to be similar.

these two kids are completely unrelated but this second one looks similar to Louis imo

The way William looks at the two also kinda contributes to this parallel

Another thing in relation to this would be how Louis sees his brother and it’s not just a terrible mischaracterisation of “Sherlock get away from

my precious nii san 😡” but rather shows how William and Louis were so dependent on each other as kids that it’s now become a main part of their current relationship. We see earlier in the arc that Louis asks to go on the mission with William and he says that he wants (in essence) for Louis to live in the new world without corruption or the nobility. These three pages are also a major parallel to when the first Moriarty estate burnt down and William took on og William’s identity. Strangely enough, I don’t think we ever saw Albert in this arc which is odd considering he’s also a brother to William and Louis despite not being blood related but I digress. We see how devoted Louis is to William here (“they burned well for my brother’s sake” and “if you take that out you’ll die of bloodloss”)

Also why did Louis kinda eat in this scene

Anyways on a more positive (??) note, I find it adorable that Fred sees Moran as his older brother. It’s such a funny dynamic too 😭

Usually Lestat is too overwhelming for Louis, but during football season, Louis can be too much for a Frenchman to handle. Of course they root for the Saints, but Louis will get very into fantasy football, sometimes watching games on multiple screens to ensure that his players are doing well. Some years Louis bets money on websites, and if he wins it's all great for Lestat, but if he loses, Lestat will often leave Louis where ever he is as he becomes insufferable. (I think this headcanon is based on stuff you've written, but it's too cute!)

Louis and Daniel 100% have a fantasy bracket going. In fact, Daniel is one of the only other vampires that still has an interest in sports, so the two of them definitely have their own Bro Time where they bond over that 😂 Unfortunately though Louis is a SORE LOSER so whenever Daniel’s picks win Louis goes and bitches to Armand about it lmfao

He totally watches multiple games— he camps out in the living room with his face inches from the flatscreen (the one he complained about when Lestat first got it because “this vapid materialism is going to rot your brain away”) and he yells in French when the tiny men on the screen don’t act the way he wants them to. 9 times out of 10 Lestat just leaves the flat altogether, but occasionally he’ll sit in the corner and record little clips of Louis getting all worked up to send to the group chat.

Also tbh even though Louis is absolutely INSUFFERABLE during football season, I think it pays off for Lestat no matter the outcome because if Louis wins money he’ll take Lestat out on a nice Victory Date and if he loses he’ll bully Lestat into Angry Sex so it’s kinda a win for him either way.

We live laugh love Darth Gator. Loui doesnt care that Darth Gator is probably almost twice his size, hes gonna cuddle it like it’s a tiny puppy.

I love the thought of literally everyone loving him 😭 I mean- How could they not? He’s sweet, he’s funny, he’s cute, he’s basically the human(?) equivalent to a puppy, he’s good at parties, what’s not to love about him??? LOOK AT HOW CUDDLEABLE HE IS-

Him having a secret handshake is so cute and honestly its impressive that he can remember all of them

The states be like: "……YOU’RE DRINKING ALREADY??? ITS 6AM-" and he just sits there cutely staring into their souls

My poor anxious baby :( he needs a hug and a warm blanketttttt……and cuddles. Definitely cuddles. I feel like- if he’s anxious, so,done he’s close to will just hold him in their lap and hug him whilst he fidgets and tries to compose himself….. damnit I’m hurting my own heart <3

Poor boy worries about everything and everyone :( he can’t even stand the thought of ANYTHING bad happening to his loved ones…..

Him being afraid to mention that he goes to therapy cuz he doesn’t want to be seen as crazy- ow my poor frail brittle little heart is not used to this abuse (/j). I imagine he just runs to his room if he’s spotted and he’ll only let like- the Main 6 (+Mass, Mary, Ginny, and Sippi) enter. Anyone else can fck off cuz they’re not getting an answer out of him.

I imagine that whilst it doesn’t happen a lot, he definitely has hangovers and it’s kinda scary tbh. Cuz he gets irritated VERY easily when he’s hungover. Like even PA is mildly afraid. But the only reason he’s so irritable is because he has a mind-splitting migraine and everything is too bright and too loud and it hurts :(

Happy

•As established in one of my previous posts, Loui and Florida share custody of their alligator Darth Gator. Loui cuddles him like a puppy and occasionally all three will sleep in a ray of light cuddled up with each other.

•When Florida's not around, Loui is one of the most popular states and gets along with everyone as he's more chill.

•He has a secret handshake for every state.

•He likes cooking for other states when they have a hangover and has learnt different recipes and meals for each state. Some try to return the favour but by the time they wake up, Loui is already on his fifth daiquiri.

Sad

•Although it's hard to tell when he's drunk, Loui has the worst anxiety, made worse due to his relaxed nature as everyone is open about their own problems to him. He doesn't want to tell them to stop talking but he's so unsure if his advice and hugs are actually helping.

•He is suspicious of Florida's relationship with Mother Nature and will do anything to prevent Florida meeting her. Florida tells him it's fine but with the extreme weather everyone's experiencing and the rumours that she'll drown Florida, Loui gets more nervous everyday that his Sha is going to just disappear one day under the sea.

•Loui is one of 5 states that actually has a therapist (who hasn't left yet). He doesn't know the other 4 does therapy (Cali, NY, NJ and Maryland) so he continuously lies about where he's going because he's afraid that he'll be made fun of or be seen as crazy. But this makes the other states anxious because he'll disappear for an hour and come back with red eyes from crying.

•(TW: Alcohol Abuse)

He started drinking as a stress relief from what he experienced as a kid and to subdue his social anxiety, but now he doesn't know who he is without alcohol.

His biggest fear is that without a daiquiri, he'll see Florida the same way other states see Florida and have to acknowledge how stressful it is to be around him. He hasn't told Florida about this but Florida's aware enough he would go sober for Loui to prove it- although he's a little naive that he can just quit cold turkey.
